Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
The abstract concept of evil has vastly transformed throughout human history, ranging for the
supernatural and mystical to the very humans amongst whom we live. In modern times, evil has
become an entirely ambiguous term. Who is evil? What is evil? Men like Adolph Hitler and Saddam
Hussein have been garnered with the term ‘evil for their atrocities against fellow humans. Now it
seems evil has a solely human significance; when a person violates the individual rights of others on a
massive scale, he/she is evil. In Shakespeare s time – the Elizabethan era – evil had a similar, but
somewhat altered connotation in the human mind. Evil was an entity that violated the English
Christian monarchial tradition. Therefore, a man such as Claudius, ... Show more content on

Gertrude could not be persuaded to switch husbands without a little verbal trickery on Claudius part,
and that turns out to be his true skill: lying convincingly. Claudius manages to legitimize his ascent to
the throne by diverting popular attention, away from the circumstances of his ascent, and to the
impending attack by the young Fortinbras (I.ii.1 20). Claudius propensity towards fabrications is in
direct violation with the Holy Commandment Thou shalt not bear false witness; hence, he violates one
of the pillars of Christian moral law. Claudius lies are effective enough to persistently deceive to play
s antagonist, Hamlet. Despite Hamlet s disgust with Claudius for marrying Gertrude, and his view of
Claudius as a king of shreds and patches (III.iv.104), Hamlet suspicion of Claudius as a murderer is
preliminarily nonexistent. The appearance of a spirit claiming to be Hamlet s dead father first alerts
Hamlet to the actions of that incestuous, that adulterate beast, /With witchcraft of his with, with
traitorous gifts (I.v.42 3). And yet still, Hamlet remains hesitant to believe that Claudius was the
murderer, searching for complementary evidence. The play that Hamlet enacts designed to catch the
conscience of the king (II.ii.562) succeeds in revealing Claudius guilt, but does not provoke instant
action on

What Is The Role Of The Financial Sector Of India
Industry profile
The growth of financial sector in India at present is nearly 8.5% per year. The rise in the growth rate
suggests the growth of the economy. The financial policies and the monetary policies are able to
sustain a stable growth rate.
The reforms pertaining to the monetary policies and the macroeconomic policies over the last few
years has influenced the Indian economy to the core. The major step towards opening up of the
financial market further was the nullification of the regulations restricting the growth of the financial
sector in India. To maintain such a growth for a long term the inflation has to come down further.
The financial sector in India had an overall growth of 15%, which has exhibited stability over the ...

Essay about Audism Unveiled
Audism Unveiled
Audism by it s very definition is a negative or oppressive attitude towards deaf people by either deaf
or hearing people and organizations, and a failure to accommodate them. This documentary really
opened my eyes as to what deaf people have gone through since the beginning of time. They have
been treated with prejudice and oppression. They have been looked down upon as if they are some sort
of subhuman not worthy of being classified as a normal person because of the fact that they cannot
hear. Audism goes under the same category as racism, sexism, discrimination, etc. In the movie,
Audism Unveiled, they were many testimonials of different deaf people explaining their stories of
oppression simply because of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, he is an advocate for parents of deaf children to learn sign language so that no one would ever
have to experience what he had to. I think that all parents with deaf children should embrace their
child and their new culture and learn the language that is most easy for their child to communicate in.
Most deaf children feel lonely and abandoned from their families because no one ever bothers to
include them into family conversations. Whenever the deaf person would ask what s going on, they
would say Oh we ll tell you later. Always the same thing and deaf people are tired of it. They want to
know now and be included! It s not fair that they have to be left out just because they re deaf. It causes
depression and resentment in the deaf person when the family constantly excludes the deaf family
member. In some situations, deafness was viewed as evil. One man said that his aunt told him that he
must have been a bad man in his past life and as punishment, he was born deaf in this life time.
Hearing people do view being deaf as a misfortune, but that does not justify the way that they get
treated by hearing people. I think it s horrible how they are viewed as unable. I would hate to imagine
someone treating me like I m not able because I m Hispanic or because I m gay. It would tear me apart
and I m sure most deaf people feel the same way. Audism needs to be a bigger issue among hearing
people and they need to know that being deaf is not a handicap, deaf

Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Essay
Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
Near closing time on Saturday afternoon, March 25, 1911, in New York City a fire broke out on the
top floors of the Asch Building in the Triangle Shirtwaist Company. One of the worst tragedies in
American history it was know as the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. It was a disaster that took the lives of
146 young immigrant workers. A fire that broke out in a cramped sweatshop that trapped many inside
and killed 146 people.
This tragedy pointed out the negatives of sweatshop conditions of the industrialization era. It
emphasized the worst part of its times the low wages, long hours, and unsanitary working conditions
were what symbolized what sweatshops were all about. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Psy 230 Week 1 Research Paper
Week One Week one, I learned about phytochemicals. They are a non nutrient substance, which means
they have no nutrients in them. They are not processed or anything because they are naturally
occurring in plants. They cannot be found anywhere else. Phytochemicals are not needed for short
term survival, which means you don t necessary need them. They are good though because they
promote long term health. I applied this to my life by making sure I start having phytochemicals in my
diet, so I can help out my long term health. Week Two Week two, I learned about ingestion. I learned
when to eat and when you need to stop eating. When you have an appetite that means the
psychological desire to eat food. When you are hungry that is the physical sensation of needing to eat
food, which is localized in the stomach. Then satiety is the state of having had enough to eat. There is
immediate and delayed satiety. There are of course factors that control these, which are the size of
your stomach and illness. Also, different mood conditions and your genes play a role. I applied this to
my life by knowing when I am at the hunger stage to eat, but when I get to satiety, then I need to stop
eating. Week Three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Summary Of The Movie The Mission
The 1986 film The Mission depicts the relation of the Jesuits as a type of enlightening force for the
Guarani people, that is able to organized theses people in way that was not before possible. The
representation of the priest as these great liberators of knowledge by the movie is flattery, the natives
where indeed capable of organizing themselves as a society that the films choses to ignore. The
Guarani where not the pure molds that the movie presents, they contained there own original and
optioned ideas on how society works after contact with the Jesuits and in the missions, a notable
example of their ideas can be seen in religion. The natives are shown throughout the film of having
weak constitution to their traditional spirituality, and this was not the cause in history. My argument is,
the Guarini where not the passive molds for Christianity presented in the film, but where actually
relatively organized in them believes of spirituality and held strong options on the subject. Supporting
the argument against the films take will include: Ruiz de Montoya s The Spiritual Conquest, a primary
source form the prospective of a Jesuit priest during the time of The Mission; James Schofield Seager
s The Mission and Historical Missions: Film and the Writing of History, focuses on the historical
issues riddled within the film; and lecture notes form Dr. Austin, discussing the actuality of what
occurred in during the time period of The Mission. A scene in the film worthy to focus

The American Liberal Democratic Values Essay
American Liberal Democratic Values
I. The definitions of democracy and liberalism
Liberalism and democracy are two different concepts, liberalism is a political philosophy which is
based on the principle of individual freedom, it calls for guarantees of the rights of the individual,
including freedom from arbitrary authority, freedom of religion, the right to own and exchange private
property, rights to equal opportunity in health care, education, and employment, and the rights to
political participation and representation. While democracy is a set of political procedures involving
participation and competition. Most democracies are liberal democracies to some degree. because
political participation, competition, and accountability are perhaps the best guarantees that individual
freedoms will be preserved, thus the terms liberal and democracy often go hand in hand.
II. Liberal democracy the U.S. goal
U.S. policies aim to boost the spread of liberal democratic values. In the nineteenth century, the U.S.
didn t play an important role in global governance, as the geographical reach of the United States
political influence expanded, liberal democracy promotion turned into a major part of U.S. foreign
policy, the aim of promoting democracy abroad had been a core element in how the United States
exercises its international power. Moral Universalism , introduced by America s project of liberalism
during the twentieth century, is an ideology based on the liberal

History Of Mathematica Policy Research ( Mpr ) And Two...
Introduction
Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) and two consultants, Leigh Linden and Harounan Kazianga,
conducted an independent evaluation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation s (MCC) two year
threshold compact in Burkina Faso, which was aimed at increasing educational attainment for primary
aged girls. The goal of the Burkinabé Response to Improve Girls Chances to Succeed (BRIGHT)
program, implemented from 2005 to 2008, was to improve the educational outcomes of primary
school students by targeting enrollment rates, and math and French scores. MPR et al (2009) evaluated
whether or not the impact was the same for both boys and girls. Key findings of the BRIGHT
intervention include: (1) primary student enrollment increased by 20 percentage points, (2) math and
French test scores increased by 0.4 standard deviations, and (3) a positive impact for both boys and
girls.
Program Background
Desite mandatory school enrollment and free primary schools, Burkina Fas still has some of the
lowest primary school enrollment rates in West Africa. Prior to BRIGHT, the national government
began pushing primary school enrollment by constructing new schools and implementing various new
programs. Gross enrollment increased from 12 percent in 1970 to 56 percent in 2005; however, these
numbers did not show the urban rural disparities.
BRIGHT was designed to increase school enrollment and improve the educational attainment of
primary school children in villages where girls enrollment

The Dormant Threat of Smallpox
Introduction/Background/History: Small Pox is an infectious disease that causes a fever and rash. The
term pox comes from the Latin word for spotted. It also refers to the raised bumps that appear on the
face and body of an infected person. Small Pox is cause by the Variola virus that appeared many years
ago. There are two rudimentary patterns of small pox: Variola minor and Variola major, which is the
worst and most common of the two. The earliest known death was Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses. Could it
be a coincidence that the disease also originated from Eygpt? Edward Jenner was the man in 1796. He
was experimenting and proved that small pox was closely related to cow pox. He would then make a
key breakthrough in his discovery by concluding that it would protect against smallpox.
Small Pox out breaks have been going on ever since the Egyptians; however, eradication of the
disease has become a worldwide look. The last case of the disease in the United States was in 1949.
Somalia was the last outbreak in 1977 before stoppage of the vaccine began. People felt like it was not
necessary to get the vaccine for prevention. The only place you can find the disease is in laboratories.
However, after September 11th 2001, there is intensified concern with the variola virus. The U.S.
government has fears that it might be used as an agent of bioterrorism. Any signs of Small Pox
outbreaks with have many apprehensions of a terrorist attack.

Analysis Of Mary Hughes s Poem Lady Lazarus Plath
appear to remind her inner wounds of life. Frequently they seem to terrorize her with their openings;
They (Tulips) are opening like the mouth of some great African cat..15. In her poem Lady Lazarus
Plath confirms her strong faith in rebirth and resurrection: Out of the ash I rise with my red hair and I
eat men like air16. It further makes obvious her repulsion on men. She believes that Suicide, Death
and Resurrection may fetch her eternal happiness. That is why, it seems, she loves death. She further
has strong conviction in resurrection to slay all men traitors in the world. She suggestively shows her
bitterness on her husband for his desertion from her life. Naturally all men and women have the sense
of repugnance to their mates while facing desertion. Divorce is very common in the West but Plath
could not digest Ted Hughes separation and his loveless life with her. Women folks expect true love
from men. When they find the love of man is only corporeal and fake, they turn brutal and commit
suicide or choose to kill their husbands at least in next birth. While modern American confessional

A Stitch in Time Essay
Quilting has different meanings for different people, but all quilts have a unique appearance and
tradition. What makes art is its life pulsing and shining with the energy and intentions of its creator.
The art of quilting glows with a respect for all generations that have come before putting thread,
needle, and cloth together with vision and love (Wilson 7). Starting out in antiquity as a necessity and
a work of art, quilting has changed over time, but it is still practiced in a myriad of cultures around the
world. Although there are many types of quilting, there are three common types identified as whole
cloth, piecing, and appliqué. The whole cloth technique uses only one piece of white fabric for the top
of the quilt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the modern word quilt is derived from the Latin word culcitra, it is reasonable to assume that
Romans who spoke Latin used quilted blankets. However, it was not until A.D. 1095 that Europeans
gained undeviating access to the technologies of Asia and Africa, and the process of quilting became
standard in Western Europe. Through their attack on Palestine, knights from England, France, and
Italy were introduced to the Palestinians light armor made of tough quilted jackets covered with chain
mail, flexible armor made of metal links (Wilson 16 17). Quilting was introduced to America when the
first settlers came in the Fifteenth Century. The first records of quilts in what would become the
United States come from wills and estate papers of the 1600 s. The oldest surviving American quilt is
probably the Saltonstall quilt, made around 1704 (Breneman and Laurette). Many cultures have come
together in the United States to include, for example, such world noted quilt styles as Mexican
American, African American, and Amish. It is not known exactly when the first pioneer woman
introduced her quilting to the Spanish American settlers, but star quilt patterns became an element of
Spanish American women s weaving quite early. Fabric became more available in the 1800 s when the
railroad arrived. Women found that they could make warm bed coverings much faster than weaving by
sewing together scraps of fabric with an old blanket, with wool or cotton as filling.

nigra. Without high end laboratory maneuvers and MRIs of the brain, Parkinson s can already be
diagnosed just by observing the physicality of the patient. MRIs are usually used to rule out any other
disorder that could also present the same symptoms as Parkinson s. The primary symptoms in regards
to this disease include akinesia, or loss or impairment of voluntary movements, bradykinesia, or slow
movement, trembling in hands, arms head, and legs, stiffness in the trunk portion of the body and
muscle flexors of the limbs, and unstable posture affecting balance. Parkinson s is chronic and slow
progressive and over time patients will begin to experience difficulty in normal tasks such as walking,
talking, and other day to day activities (NINDS, 2013).
Despite the difficult symptoms that a patient might face, Parkinson s disease has been deemed
idiopathic, meaning that no cause has been found for it. Unlike an airborne or sexual disease,
Parkinson s is not transmittable. Scientists have linked some cases of Parkinson s disease to be
traceable through certain genetic mutations, but others have been

An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry
How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called
perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or
delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin
word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to
wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not
much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have
read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to
choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous
examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of
perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced
adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book
E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and
achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can
accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the
Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had

is a gap between the rich and the poor in which the richest people can use political manipulations to

there was an existence of a vast middle class, and nowadays the amount of richest people has been

Types of Car Brake System Essay
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
In a little over hundred years since automobile took hold of most people s imagination, technologies
design to make acceleration faster and reaching higher speeds have evolved. Despite charges, turbo
charges, twin turbo charges or NOX, there are limits, which cannot be greater by land based vehicle in
terms of speed. Not the same can be said about the rather unseen parts of the automotive evolution.
The only limitation to them is in connection with the human body s ability to withstand rapid
decelerations. It would be a lot easier to stop a car then to make it go faster otherwise. Whether they
come in form of drum brakes or as disk, the brakes have been the horsepower s companions
throughout decades, each pulling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drum break had a main problem and that is that the heat within is not efficiently disbursed. Since
the drum prevents wind from drawing it away. The heat produced inside the drum does not easily
escape. The disk brake however was open to the wind, allowing the heat to be easily carried away,
increasing the efficiency of the break.
The development and use of the disk brakes was fist in England in the 1980 s. Frederick William
Lanchaster was the first guy that patented the first ever caliper type disk brake in his Birmingham
factory in 1902 and it was used successfully on his Lanchaster cars. He struggled to keep up the
maintenance of a quality brake because of the limited choice of metals in the period of time. Causing
him to use copper as the braking medium acting on the disk. However, due to the bad road conditions,
it didn t allow copper to last very long because copper can wear out easily, making the disk brake
system non viable.
Crosley Hot Shot in the 1950 is often given the credit for first use of the U.S production of disk brake.
The Chrystal Crown Imperial had them first used actually, as a standard equipment at the beginning of
the model year in 1942. Crosley disk was a good year development that was originally designed for
use on aircrafts; it was the caliper type with ventilated rotor. Regions that required the use of salt like
winter roads caused sticking and corrosion, leading to enormous reliability problems due to the lack of
research.

Three Personal Strategies
The three personal strategies that I will use for improved time and stress management are that first I
will create a daily time schedule on a poster board that I will place on my study room wall and
bedroom wall for easy access. My time schedule will indicate my time for studying daily, the time I
will use for rest, the amount of time I will use doing home tasks and the time I will use for fun and
recreation activities. I believe that if I follow my time schedule I will improve my time management.
Secondly, I will create my stress journal (Helpguide.org, 2016) which will help me identify stressors
in my life and will help me come up with ways of how to deal with them. I will use my stress journal
to write down my habits, attitudes, and excuses

Conversion As A Biblical Conversion
In the Book of Acts, Saul, before becoming Paul, was a man on a mission. Saul, being a devout
Judaizer, would stop at nothing to prevent the growth of the New Testament Church. Persecuting and
killing Christians were Saul s tactics in stopping the church, but while on the road to Damascus (Acts
9), Saul unexpectedly encounters the Risen Lord. Following Saul s encounter with Jesus, the Bible
proceeds to record one of the most dramatic stories of conversion throughout church history, and
while Paul s conversion story is indeed dramatic, in the lives of many Christians, conversion is a more
gradual process (Carlin, 2016). Regardless of whether or not conversion is sudden or gradual,
conversion is created totally by the action of God and is enacted upon by human beings (Carlin, 2016,
p. 293). Furthermore, conversion is personal and communal, private and public, and both passive and
active (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Likewise, conversion can be characterized as a retreat from the world
and is a source of empowerment to go into the world and confront (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Finally,
conversion is much of an event as it is a gradual process, but in the end, conversion leaves a person
transformed (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Hence, the signs that an individual has converted biblically is more
than just reading the Bible, praying, and going to church. Thus, a person who has converted seeks the
Kingdom of God first (Matthew 6:33) and is born again spiritually (John 3:6) through the

American Expansion Philosophy
All of these philosophies worked together to help further American expansion. The first two
philosophies that I discussed and explained gave us reasons why we should expand. Turner told us that
the reason why society has changed and the reason why we have been such a great country has been
due to free land. He then goes on to explain that there is no free land for us to have on our continent.
So what is the only reasonable answer to continue our exploration of the frontier? Why of course to
expand overseas. Mahan s philosophy only helps convince us by telling us that we need to have a
bigger navy. He says that every country with a good navy lasted longer and was stronger than other
countries no matter what the size. He also tells us that the

Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay
Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one genre that
completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap music videos have
continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized numerous
times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the
younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and
other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women exists is because rap as a genre that
rewards the objectification of women. The excuses used to justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete
and lack accurate support. The most effective way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A rapper couldn t use a line describing what she did in the movie, let alone film it in a video, without
getting heat for it (Keyes 256). While some may choose to side with this argument, rap truly takes
sexual portrayal of women in both music videos and songs to the next level. In rap music videos,
diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance around them. This is the
premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and boys all over the world see the
constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this concerns the parents of these kids,
and many critics believes that the images kids see on T.V directly correlate to their development and
thinking: exposure to rap music videos, which is explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the
potential long term adverse effects of risky behavior, may influence adolescents by modeling thee
unhealthy practices (Thrash). Parents should become more aware of these videos, and make sure that
their young daughters are not watching them. Yet, once they get to the age where they could be
recruited for these videos it is important that they are educated about this industry. This education
should come from the home, but I think it would also be important to provide workshops for girls
about this issue. Since anorexia is such a problem among girls many companies and organizations put
together workshops to educate young girls. One example of this is Dove s Self Esteem

Oppression In Lolita
In Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Humbert Humbert is a disgusting pedophile who took Lolita s self
worth as he realizes his mistake as he is locked in prison until he dies. People are mistreated every
day, but still rely on the abuser. Lolita may seem like a victim but she is really in control of everything
which is seen in her controlling where they go, her manipulation of Humbert, and leaving right as
soon as Humbert was not of any use to her.
Reading through the story, people will think or see that Lolita is an innocent little girl who is a victim
of Humbert. She was just a child who knew nothing (43). She is seen as any other child who likes to

life she wanted and she knows that she does not deserve the life she is having. By starting over would
mean she will have a happy life and she thought she did when her and Humbert began their extensive
travel all over the States (102). The life she wanted was showing and that is why she did everything
that Humbert wanted him to do and she thought it would work out like she thought. By travelling, she
will be able to go to places and will see where she wanted to go live at and start the life she wanted.
She is like that, because of how Humbert is firmly resolved to pursue my policy of sparing her purity
(89). She notices that Humbert treats her as an object instead of an individual and she does not like
that, that is why she is trying to get away from him. Trying to get away from Humbert is a first step
for her, so she can find a new person who can actually treat her like she deserve it and will treat her
like a person. This is why Lolita is the way she is, because she knows her childhood is being ruined by
Humbert and she just wanted to leave him so she can start

World War I And The Great War
Mass culture by definition refers to the set of ideals and values that develop from a common exposure
to the same media, news sources, music, and art (chegg). It conveys the idea that culture emerges
spontaneously from the masses themselves, like popular art did before the 20th century. However, post
WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals and values in
spreading across the nation. And the term media culture gives reference to the current western
capitalist society that emerged and developed from this 20th century time period under the influence
of mass media. World War I, or the Great War, was one of the bloodiest wars of all time. It was a war

How We Are Blinded by Sugar and Its Sweetness We all love a little sugar in our meals and in our

disease wasn t bad enough, Doctors have recently compared the addiction to sugar being the same as
the addiction to cocaine. The research has shown that sugar could be as addictive as some street drugs
and have similar effects on the brain. Cassie Bjork, MD., founder of healthysimplelife.com discovered
through research that sugar can be even more addicting than cocaine. Dr. Bjork goes into explaining
that dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is a key part of the reward circuit associated with addictive
behavior. When a certain behavior causes an excess release of dopamine, you feel a pleasurable high
that you are inclined to re experience. While consuming sugar, one can simply refer to it as a
condiment and that it is necessary in our meals. What they re failing to realize is it has the same
psychological effects as using cocaine. It messes with your brain in the same way, but doesn t give you
the negative side effects of cocaine. Sugar activates the reward center in our brain the same way drugs
do and provoke similar cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Alan Greene, Md., a children s health and
wellness expert has mentioned that the addiction to sugar can be even harder to break due to how it
affects our stress hormones. This would make sense since sugar is widely more accepted in our society
than drugs and alcohol.

The City Of The Aztec Empire
When thinking of ancient, urban centers many think of ancient capitals such as Rome, Athens, or
Cairo. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South America, there were a number of
growing urban centers being built by the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a
Central American urban center is Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec
capital which is located in present day Mexico City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city was
dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and social
organization. With these three preconditions, the growth of Tenochtitlan as a major urban center and as
the capital of the Aztec s civilization was able to flourish.
Similarly to modern day real estate, location played a detrimental role in determining whether or not
an urban center could truly develop and flourish. A location with favorable ecology allows for
resources such as agriculture to be produced near or within the city. However, agriculture is not the
only element of ecology that allows for a city to develop. Other ecological elements such as rivers,
lakes, elevation, mineral resource, and building materials are important in determining whether or not
a location has favorable ecology (28). Tenochtitlan is often compared to Europe s Venice due to its
structure and location within the Valley of Mexico. The landscape of the Valley of Mexico consisted of
multiple lakes and resembled a water filled

Impact of Divorce on Adolescents Essay
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2011 there were 2,118,000
marriages in the United States and almost half as many divorces (2013). The CDC also reports that
only half of all first marriages will reach their twentieth anniversary. Divorce is a topic everyone is
familiar with and it has almost become a normal part of life. While it is assumed that more divorces
occur now than in the previous generation, the CDC actually reports that divorce rates have dropped
over the past twenty to thirty years, though this could be due to the increase in individuals who live

However, if one of the individuals in the marriage is resisting the divorce, or situations are complex,
such as children being involved, then divorces can take a long time to finalize and can become
extremely messy affairs. The constant arguing, disagreements, snide comments and hateful words that
occur during this time frame, which most likely started before the topic of divorce was even brought
up, can take a toll on not just the two individuals whose marriage is ending, but everyone else who is
involved, no matter how little their involvement is. Adolescence is defined as the period of transition
between childhood and adulthood that involves biological, cognitive, and socioemotional changes
(Santrock, 2012, p. 16). This time period can be very stressful in itself with all the changes that are
going on physically, socially and emotionally. Not only is an individual experiencing physical changes
as they enter puberty but his or her social roles are also changing and that can be difficult to adjust to.
It can be hard enough for a person to discover who he or she is and to become their own person during
this time of transition, but that is made even more difficult when the individual s home life is thrown
into chaos and he or she experiences the turmoil of divorce. Experiencing a parental divorce or

What is duckweed? The was the first question that went through my mind when this lab was assigned.
This resulted in pre lab research. The first thing I learned was that duckweed, is a tiny aquatic
flowering plant that floats in large quantities on still water, often forming an apparently continuous
green layer on the surface. When my group was tasked with choosing our manipulative factor we
decided on temperature manipulation. Based on the basic information we all had on duckweed due to
our pre lab questions, my group knew that duckweed is capable of growing in very harsh conditions in
regards to pH, temperature, and light. Knowing this came to our advantage when we developed our
hypothesis. We hypothesized that while under the different temperature conditions of an incubator, a
fridge, and room temperature, the sample of frongs under grown under the incubator would remain
healthy throughout the process while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Were there any sources of error that could have contributed to false data in our experiment? The fast
decline of the room temperature, was a red flag. Why would a sample that appeared to be healthy and
thriving suddenly die within the span of 7 days? The possible sources of error I can predict regarding
that part of the experiment would be the fluctuations in light based on its location in the room and
amount of water that was filled on day 12 as possibly someone in the group forgot to refill the sample
after noticing evaporation. The fluctuating temperature changes inside the room as well as the weather
conditions and temperature conditions outside is also a possible source of error regarding the sample. I
cannot identify any sources of error in regards to the fridge and incubator samples as their results
could be backed up by our pre lab research on duckweed growth in hot and cold

Technology Has Changed The World
Technology has changed the world we live in and has had a significant impact on the way society
works and performs their jobs. Constant rises in innovations such as advanced computers,
communications systems, industrial robots, computer assisted manufacturing, and computer assisted
design have created shifts in the structures of many industries. These new technologies and
innovations have been universally introduced and used through various industries to modernize,
reduce costs and to compete more efficiently in both domestic and overseas markets. Changes in
technology have helped to change the structure of many existing occupations as well as helped to
create new technologically based occupations. In addition, wages for high technology ... Show more

Using economic theory and information gathered from prior academic research, this paper will
address how technological changes have affected the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.
There has been a long debate throughout various forms of literature related to this topic over whether
technology is destroying or creating jobs. Taking economic theory into consideration, I have come to
the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled and unskilled
workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing an upward shift
in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects, technological change
creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces the cost of capital, this
also results in substitution and scale effects.
In this paper, I will first review three sources of economic research related to my topic. I will
summarize their research question, methods and findings. I will then summarize my findings and
present some future points to consider. After assessing the various information gathered from prior
academic research, I have come to the conclusion that overall skill biased technological change does
exist and does in fact affect the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.

In the article The Effects of Hormonal Contraceptives on Female Sexuality , the authors Lara J.

In the article, Patz states that several women believe the only benefit from the use of birth control is
pregnancy prevention. However, there are several other pros to the medication that women can benefit
from and several different types of brands and devices that can provide women with these benefits.
Patz states the best contraceptive device for women with heavy periods would be the Mirena hormonal
intrauterine device, also called an IUD. The Mirena IUD is a plastic device that is inserted in the
uterus by an OB/GYN and lasts for five years. Patz states The Mirena also releases low doses of a
hormone called levonorgestrel into the lining of your uterus, which can whittle away your period
(Patz). Patz also suggests the Yaz or Yasmin oral contraceptive device brands for women suffering
with pre period bloating. Some brand options for women with acne problems are Yaz, Ortho Tri
Cyclen, and Estrostep Fe. These pills will help treat acne because they lower the amount of
testosterone in a women s body, which leads to oil production. For women with lubrication issues,
Patz recommends a vaginal hormonal ring called NuvaRing. The NuvaRing is a plastic ring that is
inserted in the vagina. The ring will release estrogen into the

Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation And Initiation Essay
Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation and Initiation
The small amount of breastfeeding intention research that exists focuses heavily on populations
considered at risk, referring to those in economically disadvantaged areas or lower wage earners with
lower educational backgrounds, often with lower maternal age and worse outcomes in the birth
process (Cabieses et al., 2014; Declercq et al., 2014; Holbrook et al., 2013; Li et al., 2005: McInnes et
al., 2001; Shaker et al., 2004). These studies show that women s attitudes regarding breastfeeding
create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations with
breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with
breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed.
In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers found
heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with
breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009; Shaker
et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Education in mixed method feedings was lacking at all levels of
intention to breastfeed, Geraghty et al. (2013) noted, even in a population study that was based on
respondents who wanted to breastfeed, and sought professional help for problems while breastfeeding.
Intention is also linked to the expected success of breastfeeding, as indicated by Attanasio et al.

Toriel Research Paper
Toriel is a human shaped lamb with drooping ears and short horns. She has beautiful auratus eyes,
which was said in superior ambers by Asgore. She is always frowned, or with her eyes down. In the
middle of her brows, there are a pale purple flower shaped tattoo. Toriel is liked to wear a lavender
robe, a white bottoming shirt, and a dark purple long skirt. She also like to put on her bent with a
pattern of a little peach blossom.
Personality
Toriel is a sensitive female. She has been separated away with her husband and lives in Ruins right
now by some reasons. The loss of both of her children made her always sensitive. However, the only

Her magic is in the base of purple fire to develop.
Toriel will ask your preference of the taste in steamed stuffed bun, (meat taste/vegetable taste), and
you will get a steamed stuffed bun in both two tastes.
Toriel will teach you how you write in Calligraphy by brushes, but not telling jokes of snails.
There is no mobile phone in the ancient time, so she will directly bring you to home but not let you
wait.
There is no red leaf tree in front of her home, but a peach tree. She always came here and talk with her
soulmate.
Because Sans is likes to sit on the branch but Toriel on the ground, only Sans can know who Toriel is
but Toriel not.
The way to let these two soulmates know was reciting poems, but not telling knock knock jokes.
The content of the poem, that Sans and Toriel firstly recited:
Sans: As fast as thous shalt wane, so fast thou growest, In one of thine, from that which thou departest;
Toriel: And that fresh blood which youngly thou bestowest; Thou mayst call thine when thou from
youth convertest. Herein lives wisdom, beauty and increase:

Book Of Gifted Education Summary
I found it interesting 50% of public schools are rural. We are a city school district, yet we are
considered a rural district in the Mooresville Graded School District. According to our reading in
Colangelo s Handbook of Gifted Education rural schools have many benefits for students including
smaller class size, lower dropout rates and more community support. I believe when you have smaller
school districts and schools you have more contact with your students and you are able to
individualize and accommodate more when dealing with your students.
Another interesting fact from our chapter this week was the number of public schools declined
between 1940 1990 by 69% even though the population was up 70% in the United States. I wonder
why we have consolidated so many schools and districts? We know that it does not improve our
schools when we do this. Some of the disadvantages shared in our chapter regarding rural schools
were that they are typically isolated and not close to universities. We also see that rural schools and
students have less exposure to a variety or range of different professions.
One shocking informational piece mentioned in chapter 44 of Colangelo s Handbook of Gifted
Education was the increased use of cooperative learning has been considered a hindrance to gifted
students. I do not quite understand why this is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could also say that is it shameful to say that parents of lower socioeconomic status do not care about
their student s education. As educators we need to break this stereotype and better educate all

The Crisis And World Economic Recession
In 2008, the world was going through one of its worst times in history, the financial crisis and world
economic recession. People were losing their jobs, their homes and their future with some having no
hope of a recovery. The United States of America was in turmoil as their financial sector was almost
dead and the manufacturing industry was close to collapse, the USA has basically not seen a thing like
this since the great depression in the 1930s. Four years earlier, at the 2004 Democratic National
Convention, a young, unknown U.S Senate candidate was the keynote speaker for the National
convention, some were calling him the future of the Democratic party. His name: Barack Obama, at
the time no one had an incline as to what he would one day eventually become. Before his great
speech no one assumed that he would be capable of aspiring above what his circumstances have put
him in. In his speech, he showed his belief in one America and portrayed the fact that anyone can rise
and live the American dream, he made this clear when he talked about his background and how he
grew up making reference to his father s journey My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a
small village in Kenya. He grew up herding goats, went to school in a tin roof shack. His father, my
grandfather, was a cook, a domestic servant to the British. But my grandfather had larger dreams for
his son. Through hard work and perseverance my father got a scholarship to study in a magical place,

Today s organizations position themselves to innovate and change, not only to prosper but merely to
survive in a world of increased competition. Because globalization felt deeply and sincerely in all

this changes via struggling forces. Considering Garanti GE Case Reports, they can compare and
contrast in terms of the way they struggle with environmental forces and its processes in these ways;
the change processes of their strategies, environmental and global factors influencing them,
relationships with others ( firms, stakeholders, suppliers, media etc. ) and also their effectiveness. First
of all, considering strategic type of changes, they are done because companies want strategic
advantage over others. Both of Garanti Bank and GE Company made prominent changes on their

Effectiveness is the degree to which an organization achieves its goals. Considering variables in both
companies; resource inputs, internal activities and outputs, Garanti is more effective. Because Garanti
build totally different culture and strategy, it is more effective to me. It changed its structure, culture. It
created its own technology without anything. It overcome bloody processes and it became the best
bank in Turkey. It growth remarkably. It was a national bank and became international. It is true that
almost similar processes is taken by GE, however Garanti is better to me in terms of effectiveness.
Therefore it is more effective to me. Considering both cases, it affected me especially in terms of
adaptation. In fact, because in both cases I have witnessed the fear of loss as a barrier, I decide to train
myself more. Because no one would be educated fully, there will be always something to learn. I

  • 2. Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay The abstract concept of evil has vastly transformed throughout human history, ranging for the supernatural and mystical to the very humans amongst whom we live. In modern times, evil has become an entirely ambiguous term. Who is evil? What is evil? Men like Adolph Hitler and Saddam Hussein have been garnered with the term ‘evil for their atrocities against fellow humans. Now it seems evil has a solely human significance; when a person violates the individual rights of others on a massive scale, he/she is evil. In Shakespeare s time – the Elizabethan era – evil had a similar, but somewhat altered connotation in the human mind. Evil was an entity that violated the English Christian monarchial tradition. Therefore, a man such as Claudius, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gertrude could not be persuaded to switch husbands without a little verbal trickery on Claudius part, and that turns out to be his true skill: lying convincingly. Claudius manages to legitimize his ascent to the throne by diverting popular attention, away from the circumstances of his ascent, and to the impending attack by the young Fortinbras (I.ii.1 20). Claudius propensity towards fabrications is in direct violation with the Holy Commandment Thou shalt not bear false witness; hence, he violates one of the pillars of Christian moral law. Claudius lies are effective enough to persistently deceive to play s antagonist, Hamlet. Despite Hamlet s disgust with Claudius for marrying Gertrude, and his view of Claudius as a king of shreds and patches (III.iv.104), Hamlet suspicion of Claudius as a murderer is preliminarily nonexistent. The appearance of a spirit claiming to be Hamlet s dead father first alerts Hamlet to the actions of that incestuous, that adulterate beast, /With witchcraft of his with, with traitorous gifts (I.v.42 3). And yet still, Hamlet remains hesitant to believe that Claudius was the murderer, searching for complementary evidence. The play that Hamlet enacts designed to catch the conscience of the king (II.ii.562) succeeds in revealing Claudius guilt, but does not provoke instant action on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reforms pertaining to the monetary policies and the macroeconomic policies over the last few years has influenced the Indian economy to the core. Essay about Audism Unveiled Audism Unveiled Audism by it s very definition is a negative or oppressive attitude towards deaf people by either deaf or hearing people and organizations, and a failure to accommodate them. This documentary really opened my eyes as to what deaf people have gone through since the beginning of time. They have been treated with prejudice and oppression. They have been looked down upon as if they are some sort of subhuman not worthy of being classified as a normal person because of the fact that they cannot hear. Audism goes under the same category as racism, sexism, discrimination, etc. In the movie, Audism Unveiled, they were many testimonials of different deaf people explaining their stories of oppression simply because of the ... I think that all parents with deaf children should embrace their child and their new culture and learn the language that is most easy for their child to communicate in. Most deaf children feel lonely and abandoned from their families because no one ever bothers to include them into family conversations. Whenever the deaf person would ask what s going on, they would say Oh we ll tell you later. Always the same thing and deaf people are tired of it. They want to know now and be included! It s not fair that they have to be left out just because they re deaf. It causes depression and resentment in the deaf person when the family constantly excludes the deaf family member. In some situations, deafness was viewed as evil. One man said that his aunt told him that he must have been a bad man in his past life and as punishment, he was born deaf in this life time. Hearing people do view being deaf as a misfortune, but that does not justify the way that they get treated by hearing people. I think it s horrible how they are viewed as unable. I would hate to imagine someone treating me like I m not able because I m Hispanic or because I m gay. It would tear me apart and I m sure most deaf people feel the same way. When you are hungry that is the physical sensation of needing to eat food, which is localized in the stomach. Then satiety is the state of having had enough to eat. There is immediate and delayed satiety. There are of course factors that control these, which are the size of your stomach and illness. Also, different mood conditions and your genes play a role. A Summary Of The Movie The Mission The 1986 film The Mission depicts the relation of the Jesuits as a type of enlightening force for the Guarani people, that is able to organized theses people in way that was not before possible. The representation of the priest as these great liberators of knowledge by the movie is flattery, the natives where indeed capable of organizing themselves as a society that the films choses to ignore. The Guarani where not the pure molds that the movie presents, they contained there own original and optioned ideas on how society works after contact with the Jesuits and in the missions, a notable example of their ideas can be seen in religion. The natives are shown throughout the film of having weak constitution to their traditional spirituality, and this was not the cause in history. My argument is, the Guarini where not the passive molds for Christianity presented in the film, but where actually relatively organized in them believes of spirituality and held strong options on the subject. Supporting the argument against the films take will include: Ruiz de Montoya s The Spiritual Conquest, a primary source form the prospective of a Jesuit priest during the time of The Mission; James Schofield Seager s The Mission and Historical Missions: Film and the Writing of History, focuses on the historical issues riddled within the film; and lecture notes form Dr. Austin, discussing the actuality of what occurred in during the time period of The Mission. Introduction Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) and two consultants, Leigh Linden and Harounan Kazianga, conducted an independent evaluation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation s (MCC) two year threshold compact in Burkina Faso, which was aimed at increasing educational attainment for primary aged girls. The goal of the Burkinabé Response to Improve Girls Chances to Succeed (BRIGHT) program, implemented from 2005 to 2008, was to improve the educational outcomes of primary school students by targeting enrollment rates, and math and French scores. MPR et al (2009) evaluated whether or not the impact was the same for both boys and girls. Key findings of the BRIGHT intervention include: (1) primary student enrollment increased by 20 percentage points, (2) math and French test scores increased by 0.4 standard deviations, and (3) a positive impact for both boys and girls. Program Background Desite mandatory school enrollment and free primary schools, Burkina Fas still has some of the lowest primary school enrollment rates in West Africa. Prior to BRIGHT, the national government began pushing primary school enrollment by constructing new schools and implementing various new programs. Gross enrollment increased from 12 percent in 1970 to 56 percent in 2005; however, these numbers did not show the urban rural disparities. It also refers to the raised bumps that appear on the face and body of an infected person. Small Pox is cause by the Variola virus that appeared many years ago. There are two rudimentary patterns of small pox: Variola minor and Variola major, which is the worst and most common of the two. The earliest known death was Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses. Could it be a coincidence that the disease also originated from Eygpt? Edward Jenner was the man in 1796. He was experimenting and proved that small pox was closely related to cow pox. He would then make a key breakthrough in his discovery by concluding that it would protect against smallpox. Small Pox out breaks have been going on ever since the Egyptians; however, eradication of the disease has become a worldwide look. The last case of the disease in the United States was in 1949. Somalia was the last outbreak in 1977 before stoppage of the vaccine began. People felt like it was not necessary to get the vaccine for prevention. The only place you can find the disease is in laboratories. However, after September 11th 2001, there is intensified concern with the variola virus. What makes art is its life pulsing and shining with the energy and intentions of its creator. Starting out in antiquity as a necessity and a work of art, quilting has changed over time, but it is still practiced in a myriad of cultures around the world. Since the modern word quilt is derived from the Latin word culcitra, it is reasonable to assume that Romans who spoke Latin used quilted blankets. However, it was not until A.D. 1095 that Europeans gained undeviating access to the technologies of Asia and Africa, and the process of quilting became standard in Western Europe. Through their attack on Palestine, knights from England, France, and Italy were introduced to the Palestinians light armor made of tough quilted jackets covered with chain mail, flexible armor made of metal links (Wilson 16 17). Quilting was introduced to America when the first settlers came in the Fifteenth Century. The first records of quilts in what would become the United States come from wills and estate papers of the 1600 s. The oldest surviving American quilt is probably the Saltonstall quilt, made around 1704 (Breneman and Laurette). Many cultures have come together in the United States to include, for example, such world noted quilt styles as Mexican American, African American, and Amish. It is not known exactly when the first pioneer woman introduced her quilting to the Spanish American settlers, but star quilt patterns became an element of Spanish American women s weaving quite early. • 23. An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can accomplish what you want. The heat produced inside the drum does not easily escape. The disk brake however was open to the wind, allowing the heat to be easily carried away, increasing the efficiency of the break. The development and use of the disk brakes was fist in England in the 1980 s. Frederick William Lanchaster was the first guy that patented the first ever caliper type disk brake in his Birmingham factory in 1902 and it was used successfully on his Lanchaster cars. He struggled to keep up the maintenance of a quality brake because of the limited choice of metals in the period of time. Causing him to use copper as the braking medium acting on the disk. However, due to the bad road conditions, it didn t allow copper to last very long because copper can wear out easily, making the disk brake system non viable. Persecuting and killing Christians were Saul s tactics in stopping the church, but while on the road to Damascus (Acts 9), Saul unexpectedly encounters the Risen Lord. Following Saul s encounter with Jesus, the Bible proceeds to record one of the most dramatic stories of conversion throughout church history, and while Paul s conversion story is indeed dramatic, in the lives of many Christians, conversion is a more gradual process (Carlin, 2016). Regardless of whether or not conversion is sudden or gradual, conversion is created totally by the action of God and is enacted upon by human beings (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Furthermore, conversion is personal and communal, private and public, and both passive and active (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Likewise, conversion can be characterized as a retreat from the world and is a source of empowerment to go into the world and confront (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Finally, conversion is much of an event as it is a gradual process, but in the end, conversion leaves a person transformed (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Hence, the signs that an individual has converted biblically is more than just reading the Bible, praying, and going to church. Thus, a person who has converted seeks the Kingdom of God first (Matthew 6:33) and is born again spiritually (John 3:6) through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first two philosophies that I discussed and explained gave us reasons why we should expand. Turner told us that the reason why society has changed and the reason why we have been such a great country has been due to free land. He then goes on to explain that there is no free land for us to have on our continent. So what is the only reasonable answer to continue our exploration of the frontier? Why of course to expand overseas. Mahan s philosophy only helps convince us by telling us that we need to have a bigger navy. • 31. Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one genre that completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap music videos have continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized numerous times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women exists is because rap as a genre that rewards the objectification of women. A rapper couldn t use a line describing what she did in the movie, let alone film it in a video, without getting heat for it (Keyes 256). While some may choose to side with this argument, rap truly takes sexual portrayal of women in both music videos and songs to the next level. In rap music videos, diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance around them. This is the premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and boys all over the world see the constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this concerns the parents of these kids, and many critics believes that the images kids see on T.V directly correlate to their development and thinking: exposure to rap music videos, which is explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the potential long term adverse effects of risky behavior, may influence adolescents by modeling thee unhealthy practices (Thrash). Parents should become more aware of these videos, and make sure that their young daughters are not watching them. Yet, once they get to the age where they could be recruited for these videos it is important that they are educated about this industry. This education should come from the home, but I think it would also be important to provide workshops for girls about this issue. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South America, there were a number of growing urban centers being built by the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a Central American urban center is Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec capital which is located in present day Mexico City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city was dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and social organization. With these three preconditions, the growth of Tenochtitlan as a major urban center and as the capital of the Aztec s civilization was able to flourish. Similarly to modern day real estate, location played a detrimental role in determining whether or not an urban center could truly develop and flourish. A location with favorable ecology allows for resources such as agriculture to be produced near or within the city. However, agriculture is not the only element of ecology that allows for a city to develop. Other ecological elements such as rivers, lakes, elevation, mineral resource, and building materials are important in determining whether or not a location has favorable ecology (28). Adolescence is defined as the period of transition between childhood and adulthood that involves biological, cognitive, and socioemotional changes (Santrock, 2012, p. 16). In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009; Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). According to our reading in Colangelo s Handbook of Gifted Education rural schools have many benefits for students including smaller class size, lower dropout rates and more community support. I believe when you have smaller school districts and schools you have more contact with your students and you are able to individualize and accommodate more when dealing with your students. Another interesting fact from our chapter this week was the number of public schools declined between 1940 1990 by 69% even though the population was up 70% in the United States. I wonder why we have consolidated so many schools and districts? We know that it does not improve our schools when we do this. Some of the disadvantages shared in our chapter regarding rural schools were that they are typically isolated and not close to universities. We also see that rural schools and students have less exposure to a variety or range of different professions. One shocking informational piece mentioned in chapter 44 of Colangelo s Handbook of Gifted Education was the increased use of cooperative learning has been considered a hindrance to gifted students. Four years earlier, at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, a young, unknown U.S Senate candidate was the keynote speaker for the National convention, some were calling him the future of the Democratic party. His name: Barack Obama, at the time no one had an incline as to what he would one day eventually become. Before his great speech no one assumed that he would be capable of aspiring above what his circumstances have put him in. In his speech, he showed his belief in one America and portrayed the fact that anyone can rise and live the American dream, he made this clear when he talked about his background and how he grew up making reference to his father s journey My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village in Kenya. He grew up herding goats, went to school in a tin roof shack. His father, my grandfather, was a cook, a domestic servant to the British. But my grandfather had larger dreams for his son.
