Andres Acosta Biography
My father s coworker and close friend, Andres Acosta, is a production foreman for a company called
SM Energy. One of their facilities is located in Catarina, Texas, about 20 miles from his home, Carrizo
Springs, Texas. Andres is the oldest amongst his two siblings, one brother and sister. His father was
rarely in his life, so he balanced school and help raising his siblings. He provided a great father figure
to his siblings, and always watched over them. His character as a supporting person to others
developed when he was young, and stuck with him to this day, and believes it is one of the key
reasons why he is successful. He graduated Carrizo Springs High School in 2006 with Honors and the
Top 10% of his high school class. Andres later attended the University of Texas at Austin, with the
intention of pursuing a degree in Computer Science, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every foreman is assigned to receive individual reports from about 180 220 oil wells, and view their
production rates. After viewing these reports, Andres compares approximate numbers that each oil
well is projected to produce financially, and compare those numbers to the recent production rates. If a
well is not functioning up to the expected progress to meet the set financial goals, it is the foreman s
job to notify the operators to fix the situation. Andres uses a total approximated income number to
examine if his whole route is producing on quota. If an oil well is significantly producing more water
than oil/natural gas, than the production service of that well should try to be optimized the best they
can because SM Energy makes money from selling fossil fuels, not water. All wells require money to
be operated, so if a well is not making much money, then it should not be worth investing in if it is not
going to make any money in

Personality Disorder
What are personality disorders and what do they do? There are a numerous of personality disorders

Robin Williams had the bipolar disorder but most people couldn t tell. Personality disorder is a
psychiatric term and draws on a medical framework to try to understand human emotions, behaviour

A person that has Dependent personality disorder has a lack of self confidence and an excessive need
to be taken care of, fears abandonment and may go to considerable lengths to secure and maintain
relationships(1). They often feel safe and secure in the hands of people that they know will protect
them. People with the avoidant personality disorder are persistently tense, belives they are socially
inept, unappealing, fear being embarrassed, criticized or rejected. (1). Anxiety plays a huge role in this
disorder. People with the obsessive compulsive disorder tend to have an excessive preoccupation with
details, rules, lists, order, organization and schedules (1). For example Mrs. Heitkamp flipped the
lights on and off until it felt right to her, she counted to three each time. In Cluster C, anxiety is the
main key.

Personality disorders affect people of all ages and sizes. They range from anxiety to phobias. Majority

Volunteering In Nonprofit Organizations
As is well known, volunteering is an extremely significant component of our community. Along the
same lines, utilizing volunteers plays a critical role at the agency level in increasing ability of the
agency to serve clients and the community. While most nonprofit organizations put a great value on
volunteer programs, one of the biggest challenges that organizations face is a successful volunteer
recruitment. Although there are many theories about volunteer recruitment, understanding a simple
question, why do people volunteer? , makes it much easier to find right volunteers for the
organization. People volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some people it may offer a chance to give
something back to the community or to have professional

My Client, Tony Martin
My client, Tony Martin, has been employed by Eagle Airlines as a mechanic at its repair facility. He
initially worked at the Minneapolis Saint Paul Airport. However, Eagle Airlines reduced its Minnesota
staff, and consequently, eliminated his job in early 2011. Tony utilized his union seniority to acquire a
similar job by bumping a Chicago mechanic, but Eagle downsized its Chicago operations as well. As a
result, a few months later, Tony ended up working in the LaGuardia, New York Airport. Finally, he
bumped an Anchorage mechanic to conclude with a job in that airport. However, he ran out of
seniority and was permanently fired by Eagle Airlines. Tony kept his family and residence in the
Minneapolis area throughout his work assignments in New York, Chicago, and Anchorage.
Consequently, Tony deducted his entire out of town expenses, to include meals and lodging, as work
expenses. The issue at hand is to establish if this determination of his expenses as work related was
appropriate. Therefore, I must ascertain if Tony s travel expenses were considered incurred while he
was away from home. The Internal Revenue Code Section 162, Trade or Business Expenses, notes
that only expenses that are ordinary and necessary that are paid or incurred for the taxpayer s trade or
business are deductible. Tony s expenses for meals and lodging can be considered to be ordinary and
necessary, but the issue at hand is to determine if these expenses were considered incurred when Tony

Parenting Licenses
Today, obtaining a license is necessary for a many activities including: driving, hunting, fishing, scuba
diving, teaching, and practicing medicine, to name a few. In recent debate, licensing another aspect in
our lives has arisen: parenting. Although incompetent parents exist, the need for a license to parent is
an unethical and unconstitutional requirement that is impossible to regulate both before and after the
birth of the child.
Parenting licenses would violate an individual personal privacy of both women and men. While the
Constitution does not explicitly state a separating of state and privacy, the requirement would
contradict several previous Supreme Court decisions regarding the matter. In Roe v Wade in 1972, the
Supreme Court extended the right to women to have an abortion. This pushed what is now known as
the zone of privacy to new boundaries. The Supreme Court stated that, the Constitution protects the
sanctity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only would this determine the competence of a parent on a test, but it would create an exact
process to how to be a parent. The large amount of parents would be overwhelming to government
agencies and undocumented children and pregnancies would go either unnoticed or undocumented.
Every child is different and requires separate rules and boundaries from other siblings and other
families; this cannot be regulated on a test. Parenting is a learned process as many parents become
parents expectantly. This new regulation would significantly increase the prevalent of abortions and
fetal homicides as a quick answer to unplanned pregnancies and the paperwork that goes along with it.
In conclusion, requiring prospective parents to need a parenting license has the potential to solve
many abusive and detrimental situations on an individualized, child by child bases. Although, as a
whole, the risks, immortality, and privacy invasions outweighs the possible

High Fructose Corn Syrup Research
High Fructose Corn Syrup is a Dental Decay to our Body Confusions and debate over sugar and high
fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which leads into a large debatable topic. With food and bread products
that HFCS has found its way into. Most are unaware of this product as processed sugar. HFCS is an
altered sweetened product. Natural sugar is an entirely unprocessed ingredient, for example, milk, and
vegetables. A standout between the most widely known everyday sugars is fructose, which is found in
natural fruit product ( Add ). To make corn syrup, first will blend the corn starch with water and then
include a catalyst, which breaks down into a sweeter sugar substance that is delivered by a bacterium
that separates the starch into shorter chains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a case in point with children and infants taking in this product there has been one such argument
related to the HFCS in particular toward obesity in young children. While obesity was on the subject
other factors came into rise as well. Specifically triglycerides and fatty deposits around the liver.
Commonly called fatty liver thus causes scarring and hardening of the liver similar to cirrhosis, which
is inflammation of the liver. While early feasting comes easily for infants either in a can or sometime
in a powder mix or pre mixed substance, the infants are introduced to HFCS earlier while in the
womb. Pregnant cravings range from sweet and sour to the strange form such as pickles and ice
cream. These products are likely to carry HFCS, and while these food items are being taken no doubt
they are pleasing the cravings, the pre born child is already at a risk for obesity and other issues prior
to its first breath. Besides the obesity issue being a factor at the same time it causes insulin resistances.
In contrast it restricts the hormones mechanism by blocking the regulation of our appetite and

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad vs. Things Fall Apart...
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe are two novellas
written to make a statement about the struggles of early societies. Both stories stir up moments of
hope, anger, disappointment, despair, and enlightenment in an attempt to inform the reader of the
injustices and societal differences during the 1800 s. Heart of Darkness tells the story from a European
Colonist perspective while Things Fall Apart illustrates the outlook of the African tribe member being
colonized. Throughout this piece I will investigate these unique texts in hopes of revealing the
symbolism behind the trying stories. I will compare and contrast the narratives and decipher the
outlooks so that the reader can learn to appreciate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some clan members, however, do rebel and burn some of the preachers shelters. This results in a big
meeting, both European and African. At the gathering the tribe members are told to decease from any
future acts of destruction or rebellion. Expecting his fellow people to support him, Okonkwo kills their
leader with his machete. However, when the crowd allows the other Europeans to escape, Okonkwo
realizes that his clan is not willing to go to war. Soon after the murder, Okonkwo prideful character,
and inability to accept defeat, results in his suicide. Heart of Darkness and Things Fall Apart
exemplify two different perspectives of African Literature. In Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad
shows the African Culture through the eyes of the white man or colonizing Europeans. In this story the
native Africans are depicted as vicious savages.
In response to Conrad s stereotypical depiction of Africans, Chinua Achebe wrote Things Fall Apart
through the point of view of the natives to show Africans, not as primitives, but as members of a
thriving society. Things Fall Apart follows Okonkwo s life as he strives for prestige in his community.
When European missionaries come to Umuofia, Okonkwo s clan, Okonkwo tries to protect the culture
that the missionaries would destroy in the name of civilizing the natives. However his rigid mentality
and violent behavior has the opposite of its intended effect, perpetuating the stereotype of the wild

Characterization of Death in Dickinson s Poetry
CHARACTERIZATION OF DEATH IN DICKINSON S POETRY
Emily Dickinson had a sad life full with tragic experiences and its influences on her poetry can be
seen in most of her works. During her life, she struggled with traumatic effects of a succession of
deaths and due to this situation she spend the later half of her years in grief. The tragic deaths of
people close to Dickinson have affected her writing and style of expression, in which death became a
persisting theme of her poetry. Even though most of her poems consist directly on the subject death ,
she also used unusual ways to write about this theme, by writing about immortality as a state of
consciousness in an everlasting present. A typical example can be seen in her poems Because I ...

In addition, the family of the narrator is there to say goodbye to their loved one for the last time as she

solemn time; however instead of reflecting the melancholy of this moment, Dickinson wrote that there
is a fly buzzing around the room. Actually, this fly causes stealing the leading role of the show and

the narrator only hears a fly buzzing, no light, no salvation, no God. The next stanza is about the
family s enduring by waiting for her death. The dying woman portrays them as, The Eyes around had

much as they may possibly cry over losing a beloved one. In the lines For that last Onset when the

The Sixth Extinction Elizabeth Korbert Summary
I have luckily listened to the lecture presented by Elizabeth Kolbert, the author of The Sixth

Hawaii, and plants such as American Chestnut, which dominated forest in US 100 years ago. Then
emphatically, Mrs. Kolbert talked about the biosystem appearing in New Zealand. By recommending
plenty of species and problems happened in the system, Mrs. Kolbert drew forth the concentral idea of
killing mammals to protect birds New Zealand did to balance the environmental circumstance. I have

Examples Of Pathos By Cesar Chavez
I have found that words that are loaded with pathos and create a seductive euphoric are apt to promote
nonsense (Gunter Grass). Cesar Chavez proves that ethos and pathos can actually be very effective in
promoting their case. In an article he wrote, Chavez used the rhetorical strategies of ethos and pathos
to make his case and express his opinion about violence and nonviolence. Both of these strategies
proved to be very effective throughout his entire article.
Chavez s main rhetorical strategy was pathos. Pathos led to how the story impacted the reader s
beliefs; pathos is used to affect the feeling of the reader. It is effective because it allows the reader to
connect with what is being said. Chavez uses the pathos argument to show American s feelings, the
American people and people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethos is also effective because it tells the reader what the right thing to do is. Most people will do their
best to follow in the pathway that is considered the right way. Chavez states, the burdens of
generations of poverty and powerlessness lie heavily in the fields of America. If we fail, there are
those who will see violence as the shortcut to change (Chavez). This is ethos because it is saying we
are who have to protect people from violence and if we fail, then it is our own fault. This is hitting a
reader s moral side to do the right thing, or believe the right thing. This is effective because it works
alongside the pathos being used. The pathos grabs the reader s attention then the ethos takes that
attention and tells you what to do and how. This is effective because if the writer has their readers
attention by use of ethos and pathos and can get them to take the blame, they will be more likely to
follow what is being said in order to redeem themselves. This way of blaming the reader is especially
effective because people naturally do not like taking the blame and will take paths that allow them to
escape this

Analysis Of The Movie Lost In Translation By Sofia Coppola
In a Tokyo Park Hyatt hotel two jet lag strangers meets in a strange land in the hotel s low lit bar and
strike up a far flung friendship that is not romantically physical by any means, however a much
needed companionship develops where they are enjoying of the novelty of each other s company.
Their friendship only last for the length of their stay, but their connection is so deep and organic that
the couples are able to be real, open and honest with each other (Ebert, 2010). The audience is able to
feel the purity of their friendship from these two main characters through the use of the mise en scene,
editing, character development and depth as well as the cinematography throughout the film.
Sofia Coppola s both directed and wrote Lost in Translation. She takes two of the main characters Bob
Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) and accomplishes the difficult feat of creating
empathy for these main characters and catches the disconnect by capturing the two lonely,
disconnected souls who are bored out of their minds that the audience can completely identify with
them and are never uninterested while watching them throughout the movie (Ebert, 2010).
Sofia Coppola produced a romantic comedy drama film that illustrates how a minimal narrative is
used to explore the vulnerability and strength of human interaction (Coppola, 2004). Reveling the
loneliness and emotional estrangement through a negative register approach Coppola successfully
challenges the

What Is Crocs Competitive Advantage
Crocs Strategy for Competitive Advantage
With revenue from Crocs shoe sales reaching to $680 million in 2007, it is clear that the company has
developed a successful strategy. Not all of the success can be contributed to the design of the product.
Although their products were in high demand, there are more underlying factors that have paved the
way for Crocs to be competitive in the shoe market. Crocs supply chain design and use of vertical
integration revolutionized speed and quality of order fulfillment.
Traditionally, the shoe industry was seasonal and based on projections of future trends. Retail stores
would need to place orders several months before the shoes would even hit the shelves. As orders
were made early in the year, manufacturers would begin production for shipment later in the year.
Since inventory supply depended on expected sales, stock could not be quickly replenished as it ran
out. The executives at Crocs decided to branch out from the traditional production schedules and
develop a lean production model. As sales increased or decreased, Crocs managed to speed up and
slow down production throughout the year to quickly replenish depleted inventory. Since the shoes
were easily made with the foam mold design, rapid production and order fulfillment came easily for
Crocs. This approach attracted the attention of many footwear retailers. With Crocs shoes being made
to order, stores could more easily control inventory without worrying about a

Abstract Voting is most pivotal process of democratic society through which people determine it s
government. Governments around the world are increasingly considering the replacement of
traditional paper based voting schemes with electronic voting systems. Elections of Bangladesh are

Among the reasons for concern, critics include vague and incomplete security guidelines, insufficient
documentation requirements, and inadequate descriptions of the configuration of commercial
software. An electronic voting machine has been designed by a microcontroller for which the code is
written in assembly language. Various code protection schemes specified by the manufacturer of the
microcontroller are used to prevent inadvertent or deliberate reading and reproduction of the code
contained in the microcontroller. The election data contained in the EEPROM of the microcontroller
can download into a central computer for tabulations. The security of data in this computer is enforced
by generating digital signatures for each data file created. This process makes it impossible for anyone
to substitute wrong or deliberately altered data files at any intermediate stage between the capturing of
voter s intent by the machine and the final results tabulations. Prior to the election, all configuration
data is set up on the counting server. The configuration is then transferred to the ballot box server.
Configuration data include: candidate names, polling station identity, and a list of barcodes. During the
voting period, voters are authenticated as per the traditional paper based voting, and asked whether
they wish to vote electronically or use the traditional paper based method. A voter

The purpose of this review is to assess the links between rheumatoid arthritis and periodontal disease.
Past narrative reviews have identified relationships such as cytokine profiles and inflammatory

Eco Friendly/ Edible Silverware
Our environment has a lot of problems with waste that we create and it is getting more out of hand
each year. Waste is harming wildlife, rivers, plants, and humans. I have come up with a solution to this
global problem and reasons why we need it. My solution is to develop eco friendly/edible silverware.
Biodegradable means to have the ability to decompose by bacteria and other living organisms.
Biodegradable products are made out of natural plant materials like corn or sugarcane. I believe
biodegradable products are a good way to reduce waste and keep our environment healthy, unlike
plastic, which many products consist of. General everyday plastic is made out of oil, one of Earth s
limited resources. Oil takes up to three hundred million years to form. Also, oil based products that are
not reusable end up in one of the world s many landfills, which can take up to one thousand years to
decompose. Oil based products also can get washed into seas or oceans. Over time, the plastic
products can release poisonous toxins, harming wildlife and polluting nearby rivers. Comparing
biodegradable products to plastic products you can see that biodegradable products use up to seventy
percent less carbon dioxide to produce than plastic products. It also only takes twelve weeks for
biodegradable products to decompose.
Recycling waste is a simple answer to our problem, but instead, the shortage of waste treatment
systems can

ideas are explored to exposing Corruption and to highlight how powers use manipulation and half

make use of various literary and filmic techniques, most prominent of these in both texts is the use of

Both Orwell and Levinson explore the ways in which social ideals are corrupted for personal power.
Orwell depicts Animal farm s fall into corruption through the narrative perspective of the working

Tony Blair, Socialism, Liberalism And Conservatism
Currently, three prominent ideologies dominate the governing style of the world today: socialism,

are some individuals that knowingly or unknowingly that follow none and focus on practicality of

In Tony Blair s Socialist Manifesto (1994), he reinvents the idea of social ism in order to fit the
ideology to the world since the economic and social interests of people are constantly evolving. After
World War II, the economy became a lot more global, the service industry grew and there has been an
increase in human rights movements as the public have been less progressive. Aligned with the ideas
of socialism , Blair supports a concept called the Third Way which is based on the idea of combining
center right economics and center left social policies ( The Third Way , n.d).The idea was developed
by Anthony Giddens, the sociologist and director of the London School of Economics, he argued that
the reformist governments could no longer rely only on the ideas of complete social and economic
state control in the face of the forces and finances of globalization. Therefore, Giddens proposed an
idea that would support center policies, but also remain committed to radical measures. Blair refers to
the third way as his version of socialism which is in favor of economic growth and entrepreneurship as

could buy food for that money.
RESULT OF THE RESEARCH After that incident, I started to surf the internet look for an answer. If
we do research and discover the situation of homelessness, we will learn that there are many reasons.
There are many reasons why does homeless exists. One of those reasons is mental health illnesses.
Think about it! Having a kid with a mental issue is a small problem and can be help tightly, but when
that kid gets older he/she could be unbearable and living with that person is impossible. From that
moments parents ignore that person and sometimes leave him/her alone in a park or even the street.
This is one reason why homeless tend to increase over time. Another reason is that homeless tend to

College Athletes Should Get Paid Analysis
1.Introduction
Throughout my high school athletic career, playing both football and running cross country, i ve
witnessed multiple teammates of mine receive scholarships to continue their athletic and academic
careers at a university. However due to the disproportionate number of hours spent on the sport rather
than academics without receiving compensation is causing many high school athletes to turn down
athletic scholarships and instead begin to focus on their academic futures.
In December 2012 I had the pleasure of accompanying the Baylor Bears football team on a flight after
their 49 26 win against UCLA in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego California, nearly the entire flight
was comprised of football players and personnel, with coaches and starters sitting first class, seniors
behind them and so on. I was seated in the very last row next to then redshirt freshman quarterback
Seth Russell who has since become a star at Baylor. He and I began discussing how great life of a
college athlete was and he explained to me that the scholarship he received, along with the free room
and board was his compensation and that the countless practice hours that appear to subtract time that
could be used studying would equate hours of work necessary to cover the expenses of attending the
university. However when you take into account the standard tuition at ... Show more content on

games have become so popular among teens and young adults. Research has been done several times
over and over. So this why people are wondering is good or bad to play video games. Is playing video
games good or bad ? Research has shown that it helps to improve the cognitive function. According to
research, it changes the brain structure exactly the same way while playing the piano. It also helps the
same way as reading. The combination of concentration and the surge of neurotransmitters strengthens
the neural circuits that build the brain. Research has also proved that it helps hand and eye
coordination. It has shown teens can learn spatial, visual, and iconic skills from the video games.

Personal Statement On Family Farms
Family farms serve as both a place to live and a place to work and is unique as both a home and a
workplace. Growing up on a cattle farm, with horses and the necessary machinery, I was exposed to
many conditions that have taught me valuable lessons and allowed me to thrive as a young individual.
One of the main reasons that I have been able to thrive under these circumstances is because of my
family members ensuring my safety. My family has always been rigorous about teaching me how to
stay safe from the many dangers on our farm that could leave me vulnerable to injury and illness. On
our farm, we consider the health and safety of our family to be our number one priority. When I was
young, my parents restricted my access to worksites on the farm and were certain to reduce my
exposure to hazardous situations to ensure my safety and well being. I was prohibited to go near the
cattle without one of my adult family members being with me and was not allowed to roam around the
farm without the supervision of an adult. I became progressively mesmerized by the livestock on our
farm and wanted to be more involved with them so that I could pursue my curiosity. While this
worried my parents to a certain degree, they supported my curiosity and began to give me modified
tasks and chores that I was capable of doing without putting me in harm s way. Before performing any
of these tasks however, they ensured that I was properly informed on what I was to do and how I was
to do them. The

Acquisition Of ( Conrail ) Consolidated Rail Corporation
CASE: ACQUISITION OF (Conrail) CONSOLIDATED RAIL CORPORATION (50 MARKS)
Question 1: Reason for reference to Conrail as a scarce jewel ? (4mks) Conrail had its operations
within the Northeast market, a rail network that other rail companies were yet to explore. It connected
the Northeastern cities to the Midwestern and Southern cities. Even though Conrail had a high cost
position, the revenue it obtains relative per mile track operated is the highest, giving it a high
operating ratio, hence potential to increase income. For this reason, great synergies would be created
should there be a merger with CSX, Norfolk Southern or any other rail company at all. Additionally,
analysts view that either company that would get the merger with Conrail might reduce business for
the other company or lead to its collapse. This reference as a scarce jewel is further exhibited in the
wars that arose after CSX and Conrail announced their intentions to form a merger. These wars are in
form of the offers made to Conrail that ended up in a lawsuit by Norfolk Southern to stop the Conrail
CSX merger. Question two: Motives in acquiring Conrail for; CSX (3.5mks) Creation of synergy CSX
wanted to have an economic advantage in terms of operational efficiency and increased capital.
Analyzing the projected benefits laid out in the case, on a successful merger, the new entity would
have revenues worth $8.6 billion and 68% of the Eastern market. Their operating income would also

Diversity Is Becoming More And More Important As Years Go
The concept of diversity is becoming more and more important as years go by. This concept is not as
easy as it may appear; diversity is not just about acceptance and respect. Understanding what diversity
is means understanding that each person is unique; it means understanding and recognising our
differences; moreover, moving beyond differences of gender, race, age, religious beliefs and political
beliefs. Understanding and managing diversity is trying to make sure that all those differences fit
together like pieces of a mosaic. The concept is extremely important in today s society, following
everything that has been happening related to this matter. We consider ourselves a tolerant and
evolved society; yet we still hear of people of colour discriminated and killed everyday, we still hear
of women living in horrible conditions, deprived of their dignity and sold as slaves. It appears obvious
so, that diversity has to be taken into consideration when we talk about organisations. Everything that
is happening in the world is reflected into firms too; organizations are, in fact, part of a wider social
system.
That is why managing diversity is possibly one of the hardest challenges that managers have to face in
today s world. This essay is going to examine the concept of diversity in organisations today, why we
have to consider it important and what kinds of advantages companies receive. Moreover, the essay
will focus on gender diversity showing that even a lot of efforts still

Stereotypes In Legally Blonde
When a friend asks you if you want to watch a movie, usually this suggestion doesn t end in you
wishing you could be born with a different color of hair. And by now, I thought I was pretty immune
to the cringe worthy blonde jokes and stereotypes. Since I had basically grown up with these constant
comparisons of the ditsy blonde or the famous doll barbie. Therefore when my good friend Megan
suggested watching Legally Blonde as the movie for the night, I was confident that I had every lame
joke, comparison, and stereotype covered thus I was unfazed by any of the future attacks. Let me tell
you, I was wrong. As soon that she pressed the play button, I was consumed by Barbie pink and

Shar Pei in High School Musical or Regina George from Mean Girls are a few examples of the 2 D
image of the same stereotype but with the classic spin of the Blonde bitch . This doesn t really change
the character, only makes the blonde barbie more dislikable. The character still is swimming in the
color pink, with less than average intelligence and of course has to be filthy rich. Elle Woods, the main
character of legally blonde was the epitome of Hollywood s take on the blonde trait. What makes this
movie out of all the others at the top of the most insulting is its presentation. It is presented as if the
makers of Legally Blonde are defending the gene and thus even a blonde can become a lawyer or even
go to Harvard . Of course the main reason Elle does apply to go to Harvard is only to get back with
her boyfriend which makes this less of an honorable action. The movie plays light heartedly on the
theme that blondes aren t taken seriously only to add on to the issue. In an article written about blonde
jokes in the media, they explore the long life of the blond stereotype. The prototypes appearing in
many comic texts the dumb blonde, the irritating wife and the awful mother in law are always defined
by an exaggeration of a traditional feminine stereotype. Thus, the dumb blonde is an extreme version
of the dumb woman and sex object stereotypes (Shifman, 20).In making

Coal Mining And Its Effects
When asked to think of coal mining, what comes to mind? A mountain with a hole cut into the side of
it with a set of railroad tracks disappearing into it? Maybe an old mine car or two full of some rocks or
coal, with a pickaxe and shovel leaning against it. A few guys with hard hats covered in a black
powder coming walking out of the mine pushing a car or two full of coal. The technology has
advanced but the process is basically still the same as well as the outcome. Coal is retrieved from
underground and taken to factories to be burnt to create electricity or to fuel the steel mills.
1 What is coal? Coal is a substance we consider today a fossil fuel, created from all the dead plants
millions of years ago. Coal is formed from prehistoric plants that when they die are not able to release
the energy they built up from photosynthesis Typically the plants had fallen into large swamps and
bogs, and then over time the dead plants lying on the bottom of the swamps and bogs were slowly
covered with other dead plants and sediment build up. Once buried the plants were subjected to high
amounts of pressure and temperatures, which over long periods of time it becomes peat then
eventually creates coal. We refer to coal as a fossil fuel today because it is created from prehistoric
plants and the coal we have today has been millions of years since it was in plant form. Today we coal
is still being created we just don t fully recognize it because how long the process actually takes.

Personal Cheating Strategy
When it comes to betting, everyone wants to win. Everyone want to win and take their earnings home.
Oftentimes, players seek an efficient strategy capable of making them a winner. By being smart and
witty, a lot of players do just that. Since the conception of betting, players risked a loss for the sake of
winning. However, the chance of everyone winning remains minimal. Therefore, every ambitious
player needs a strategy. By having a strategy, the chances of winning greatly increase. When using a
strategy, players win because of both statistical data and luck.
Moreover, the positive progression betting system remains one of the premier strategic choices.
Numerous players achieve success while using it. Moreover, the strategy performs well when used on
craps, roulette, baccarat, and blackjack. Should a player use this strategy, they need to consider a few
things. Players who use this strategy must know how to use it. In particular, players have to increase
their bet during a win. When or if they start losing, they have to decrease their bet. On the outside, it
looks easy to do. However, making an accurate prediction remains complicated. Therefore, numerous
players do not know when the next lucky streak will take place or when it will end. ... Show more

Studying Stress among Law Enforcement Officers
In contemporary society, a police office is a bonded and warranted employee of a law enforcement
organization, be it a local, regional, or state police force; a federal law agency, or a more specific
correctional facility or other law enforcement organization. The specific reason society has law
enforcement is that groups of people living together do not always exist in harmony, and it is the job
of the police officer to maintain public order, prevent and detect criminal activity, apprehend
criminals, collect evidence, and see that the due process of law is followed within their given duty
range. Under the rubric of the Western democracies, the major role of the police force is to keep order
and discourage crime. Their organization is also asked to assist with emergency and disaster services,
emergency medical situations, and to assist citizens in need. The duties of a police officer vary so
dramatically, that the safety and internal culture of a police force differs from organization to
organization (e.g. a Police Office in a large metropolitan area like New York will have different duties
and dangers than a County Sheriff in a rural Oklahoma area) (Barlow, 2000).
Society has certain expectations of their law enforcement personnel, and that, combined with the legal
aspects and internal stress resulting from the constancy of danger and dealing with the underside of
society, supplies its own pressures to police officers. Officers are often in danger of infectious disease,

Case Study Tata Nano
Hypothesis:
Tata Nano wanted to bring in a cheap car into the market which would be affordable for the middle
income level consumers, due to which it started cutting cost of manufacturing the car.
There were several assumptions made:
H1: The designers of the car assumed that the car was compact and easy to handle, and that was the
reason handbrakes were not provided, this was even done to further cut down the cost.
H2: Pricing Nano is priced at a range where it is too expensive for the lower middle class and too

African American Role Models
Almost everyone has someone they look up to. A person who inspires you in any way, shape or form.
People that fulfill this role are very important, and can really define who you become. These people
are called role models, and over the course of history there have been many. Religous figures like
Jesus Christ, presidents like Abraham Lincoln and protestors like Martin Luther King Jr. have always
been great inspirations. But the past decades a new brand of role models has arisen, celebrity role
models. People who have become famous thanks to their music or for example Hollywood. Especially
figures in the rap musical genre are trying to be role models for teens and adolescents all around the
United States. African American rap role models have become so important in contemporary United
States society because many African American adolescents and teens needs, but miss, a role model in
their daily life.
It is no secret the amount of African American celebrities has been increasing rapidly these past
decades. There has been a heavy increase in actors, musicans, rappers and other artists of African

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Year Round Schooling
Daytona Duncan Professor Kluttz English 3 28 July 2017 The Advantages of the Year Round
Schooling Calendar The discussion of the year round schooling calendar versus the traditional
schooling calendar has been ongoing for some time. There have been many discussions and debates
about the advantages and disadvantages of both. The amount of school districts across the United
States that have switched to year round calendars has increased drastically. The year round calendar
provides students with more frequent breaks of 15 days at a time and a shorter chunk of schooling for
students with 45 days in school, also known as the 45 15 plan. On the other hand, the traditional
schooling calendar provides longer chunks of schooling at a time for ... Show more content on

Students who need help are given the chance to catch up during the school year, rather than just in

little English. In this article, The school district, which borders Mexico has seen its enrollment of poor
students steadily increase to 50 percent since the mid 1990 s. The number of non English speakers
also has escalated (3). I believe that year round calendars can really make a difference in not only
tremendously helping at risk students, but also benefit all students across the United States. The last
major benefit from year round schooling calendars that I am going to discuss is very important, but in
my opinion is also overlooked. Student benefits will always come first when looking at a situation
such as the traditional schooling calendar versus the year round schooling calendar, and I agree that
student advantages and disadvantages should be looked at first. But I can t help but ask myself this
simple question: What about our teachers? Will they be on board with this? A lot of people may think
that year round calendars can lead to teacher burn out in the classroom. Will my favorite teachers at
my school get burned out? Will they quit because it is too much? On the traditional calendar, I was

  • 2. Andres Acosta Biography My father s coworker and close friend, Andres Acosta, is a production foreman for a company called SM Energy. One of their facilities is located in Catarina, Texas, about 20 miles from his home, Carrizo Springs, Texas. Andres is the oldest amongst his two siblings, one brother and sister. His father was rarely in his life, so he balanced school and help raising his siblings. He provided a great father figure to his siblings, and always watched over them. His character as a supporting person to others developed when he was young, and stuck with him to this day, and believes it is one of the key reasons why he is successful. He graduated Carrizo Springs High School in 2006 with Honors and the Top 10% of his high school class. Andres later attended the University of Texas at Austin, with the intention of pursuing a degree in Computer Science, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every foreman is assigned to receive individual reports from about 180 220 oil wells, and view their production rates. After viewing these reports, Andres compares approximate numbers that each oil well is projected to produce financially, and compare those numbers to the recent production rates. If a well is not functioning up to the expected progress to meet the set financial goals, it is the foreman s job to notify the operators to fix the situation. Andres uses a total approximated income number to examine if his whole route is producing on quota. If an oil well is significantly producing more water than oil/natural gas, than the production service of that well should try to be optimized the best they can because SM Energy makes money from selling fossil fuels, not water. All wells require money to be operated, so if a well is not making much money, then it should not be worth investing in if it is not going to make any money in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Client, Tony Martin My client, Tony Martin, has been employed by Eagle Airlines as a mechanic at its repair facility. He initially worked at the Minneapolis Saint Paul Airport. However, Eagle Airlines reduced its Minnesota staff, and consequently, eliminated his job in early 2011. Tony utilized his union seniority to acquire a similar job by bumping a Chicago mechanic, but Eagle downsized its Chicago operations as well. As a result, a few months later, Tony ended up working in the LaGuardia, New York Airport. Finally, he bumped an Anchorage mechanic to conclude with a job in that airport. However, he ran out of seniority and was permanently fired by Eagle Airlines. Tony kept his family and residence in the Minneapolis area throughout his work assignments in New York, Chicago, and Anchorage. Consequently, Tony deducted his entire out of town expenses, to include meals and lodging, as work expenses. The issue at hand is to establish if this determination of his expenses as work related was appropriate. Therefore, I must ascertain if Tony s travel expenses were considered incurred while he was away from home. The Internal Revenue Code Section 162, Trade or Business Expenses, notes that only expenses that are ordinary and necessary that are paid or incurred for the taxpayer s trade or business are deductible. Tony s expenses for meals and lodging can be considered to be ordinary and necessary, but the issue at hand is to determine if these expenses were considered incurred when Tony was ... • 6. Parenting Licenses Today, obtaining a license is necessary for a many activities including: driving, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, teaching, and practicing medicine, to name a few. In recent debate, licensing another aspect in our lives has arisen: parenting. Although incompetent parents exist, the need for a license to parent is an unethical and unconstitutional requirement that is impossible to regulate both before and after the birth of the child. Parenting licenses would violate an individual personal privacy of both women and men. While the Constitution does not explicitly state a separating of state and privacy, the requirement would contradict several previous Supreme Court decisions regarding the matter. In Roe v Wade in 1972, the Supreme Court extended the right to women to have an abortion. This pushed what is now known as the zone of privacy to new boundaries. The Supreme Court stated that, the Constitution protects the sanctity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only would this determine the competence of a parent on a test, but it would create an exact process to how to be a parent. The large amount of parents would be overwhelming to government agencies and undocumented children and pregnancies would go either unnoticed or undocumented. Every child is different and requires separate rules and boundaries from other siblings and other families; this cannot be regulated on a test. Parenting is a learned process as many parents become parents expectantly. This new regulation would significantly increase the prevalent of abortions and fetal homicides as a quick answer to unplanned pregnancies and the paperwork that goes along with it. In conclusion, requiring prospective parents to need a parenting license has the potential to solve many abusive and detrimental situations on an individualized, child by child bases. As a case in point with children and infants taking in this product there has been one such argument related to the HFCS in particular toward obesity in young children. While obesity was on the subject other factors came into rise as well. Specifically triglycerides and fatty deposits around the liver. Commonly called fatty liver thus causes scarring and hardening of the liver similar to cirrhosis, which is inflammation of the liver. While early feasting comes easily for infants either in a can or sometime in a powder mix or pre mixed substance, the infants are introduced to HFCS earlier while in the womb. Pregnant cravings range from sweet and sour to the strange form such as pickles and ice cream. These products are likely to carry HFCS, and while these food items are being taken no doubt they are pleasing the cravings, the pre born child is already at a risk for obesity and other issues prior to its first breath. Besides the obesity issue being a factor at the same time it causes insulin resistances. • 8. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad vs. Things Fall Apart... Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe are two novellas written to make a statement about the struggles of early societies. Both stories stir up moments of hope, anger, disappointment, despair, and enlightenment in an attempt to inform the reader of the injustices and societal differences during the 1800 s. Heart of Darkness tells the story from a European Colonist perspective while Things Fall Apart illustrates the outlook of the African tribe member being colonized. Throughout this piece I will investigate these unique texts in hopes of revealing the symbolism behind the trying stories. Some clan members, however, do rebel and burn some of the preachers shelters. This results in a big meeting, both European and African. At the gathering the tribe members are told to decease from any future acts of destruction or rebellion. Expecting his fellow people to support him, Okonkwo kills their leader with his machete. However, when the crowd allows the other Europeans to escape, Okonkwo realizes that his clan is not willing to go to war. Soon after the murder, Okonkwo prideful character, and inability to accept defeat, results in his suicide. Heart of Darkness and Things Fall Apart exemplify two different perspectives of African Literature. In Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad shows the African Culture through the eyes of the white man or colonizing Europeans. In this story the native Africans are depicted as vicious savages. In response to Conrad s stereotypical depiction of Africans, Chinua Achebe wrote Things Fall Apart through the point of view of the natives to show Africans, not as primitives, but as members of a thriving society. Things Fall Apart follows Okonkwo s life as he strives for prestige in his community. When European missionaries come to Umuofia, Okonkwo s clan, Okonkwo tries to protect the culture that the missionaries would destroy in the name of civilizing the natives. However his rigid mentality and violent behavior has the opposite of its intended effect, perpetuating the stereotype of the wild African in the eyes of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Characterization of Death in Dickinson s Poetry CHARACTERIZATION OF DEATH IN DICKINSON S POETRY Emily Dickinson had a sad life full with tragic experiences and its influences on her poetry can be seen in most of her works. During her life, she struggled with traumatic effects of a succession of deaths and due to this situation she spend the later half of her years in grief. The tragic deaths of people close to Dickinson have affected her writing and style of expression, in which death became a persisting theme of her poetry. Even though most of her poems consist directly on the subject death , she also used unusual ways to write about this theme, by writing about immortality as a state of consciousness in an everlasting present. A typical example can be seen in her poems Because I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the family of the narrator is there to say goodbye to their loved one for the last time as she dying in her bed. For any human being, a moment such as this one is supposed to be a vital and most solemn time; however instead of reflecting the melancholy of this moment, Dickinson wrote that there is a fly buzzing around the room. Actually, this fly causes stealing the leading role of the show and gets everyone s notice, as the room, Was like the Stillness in the Air / Between the Heaves of Storm, (3 4). The narrator feels mainly bothered at this interruption; hence, as inexplicable as death is, there are some hopes, such as seeing a brilliant white glow upon walking into heaven or seeing God, so far the narrator only hears a fly buzzing, no light, no salvation, no God. Her family members are only waiting at this moment, because they have cried as much as they may possibly cry over losing a beloved one. In the lines For that last Onset when the King / Be witnessed in the Room, (7 8), Dickinson points out an irony by using the words that last Onset . • 12. Examples Of Pathos By Cesar Chavez I have found that words that are loaded with pathos and create a seductive euphoric are apt to promote nonsense (Gunter Grass). Cesar Chavez proves that ethos and pathos can actually be very effective in promoting their case. In an article he wrote, Chavez used the rhetorical strategies of ethos and pathos to make his case and express his opinion about violence and nonviolence. Both of these strategies proved to be very effective throughout his entire article. Chavez s main rhetorical strategy was pathos. Pathos led to how the story impacted the reader s beliefs; pathos is used to affect the feeling of the reader. It is effective because it allows the reader to connect with what is being said. Chavez uses the pathos argument to show American s feelings, the American people and people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethos is also effective because it tells the reader what the right thing to do is. Most people will do their best to follow in the pathway that is considered the right way. Chavez states, the burdens of generations of poverty and powerlessness lie heavily in the fields of America. If we fail, there are those who will see violence as the shortcut to change (Chavez). This is ethos because it is saying we are who have to protect people from violence and if we fail, then it is our own fault. This is hitting a reader s moral side to do the right thing, or believe the right thing. This is effective because it works alongside the pathos being used. The pathos grabs the reader s attention then the ethos takes that attention and tells you what to do and how. This is effective because if the writer has their readers attention by use of ethos and pathos and can get them to take the blame, they will be more likely to follow what is being said in order to redeem themselves. This way of blaming the reader is especially effective because people naturally do not like taking the blame and will take paths that allow them to escape this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Analysis Of The Movie Lost In Translation By Sofia Coppola In a Tokyo Park Hyatt hotel two jet lag strangers meets in a strange land in the hotel s low lit bar and strike up a far flung friendship that is not romantically physical by any means, however a much needed companionship develops where they are enjoying of the novelty of each other s company. Their friendship only last for the length of their stay, but their connection is so deep and organic that the couples are able to be real, open and honest with each other (Ebert, 2010). The audience is able to feel the purity of their friendship from these two main characters through the use of the mise en scene, editing, character development and depth as well as the cinematography throughout the film. Sofia Coppola s both directed and wrote Lost in Translation. She takes two of the main characters Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) and accomplishes the difficult feat of creating empathy for these main characters and catches the disconnect by capturing the two lonely, disconnected souls who are bored out of their minds that the audience can completely identify with them and are never uninterested while watching them throughout the movie (Ebert, 2010). What Is Crocs Competitive Advantage Crocs Strategy for Competitive Advantage With revenue from Crocs shoe sales reaching to $680 million in 2007, it is clear that the company has developed a successful strategy. Not all of the success can be contributed to the design of the product. Although their products were in high demand, there are more underlying factors that have paved the way for Crocs to be competitive in the shoe market. Crocs supply chain design and use of vertical integration revolutionized speed and quality of order fulfillment. Traditionally, the shoe industry was seasonal and based on projections of future trends. Retail stores would need to place orders several months before the shoes would even hit the shelves. As orders were made early in the year, manufacturers would begin production for shipment later in the year. Since inventory supply depended on expected sales, stock could not be quickly replenished as it ran out. The executives at Crocs decided to branch out from the traditional production schedules and develop a lean production model. As sales increased or decreased, Crocs managed to speed up and slow down production throughout the year to quickly replenish depleted inventory. Since the shoes were easily made with the foam mold design, rapid production and order fulfillment came easily for Crocs. This approach attracted the attention of many footwear retailers. With Crocs shoes being made to order, stores could more easily control inventory without worrying about a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among the reasons for concern, critics include vague and incomplete security guidelines, insufficient documentation requirements, and inadequate descriptions of the configuration of commercial software. An electronic voting machine has been designed by a microcontroller for which the code is written in assembly language. Various code protection schemes specified by the manufacturer of the microcontroller are used to prevent inadvertent or deliberate reading and reproduction of the code contained in the microcontroller. The election data contained in the EEPROM of the microcontroller can download into a central computer for tabulations. The security of data in this computer is enforced by generating digital signatures for each data file created. This process makes it impossible for anyone to substitute wrong or deliberately altered data files at any intermediate stage between the capturing of voter s intent by the machine and the final results tabulations. Prior to the election, all configuration data is set up on the counting server. The configuration is then transferred to the ballot box server. Configuration data include: candidate names, polling station identity, and a list of barcodes. During the voting period, voters are authenticated as per the traditional paper based voting, and asked whether they wish to vote electronically or use the traditional paper based method. A voter ... Past narrative reviews have identified relationships such as cytokine profiles and inflammatory mediators, supporting the association that inflammation may be central to rheumatoid arthritis and periodontal disease. Studies to date provided evidence that the pathological process in rheumatoid arthritis and periodontal disease are similar. However the relationship between the extent and severity is to be defined. Eco Friendly And Edible Silverware Allie Lyda 4/9/2015 period 5/6 Eco Friendly/ Edible Silverware Our environment has a lot of problems with waste that we create and it is getting more out of hand each year. Waste is harming wildlife, rivers, plants, and humans. I have come up with a solution to this global problem and reasons why we need it. My solution is to develop eco friendly/edible silverware. Biodegradable means to have the ability to decompose by bacteria and other living organisms. Biodegradable products are made out of natural plant materials like corn or sugarcane. I believe biodegradable products are a good way to reduce waste and keep our environment healthy, unlike plastic, which many products consist of. General everyday plastic is made out of oil, one of Earth s limited resources. Oil takes up to three hundred million years to form. Also, oil based products that are not reusable end up in one of the world s many landfills, which can take up to one thousand years to decompose. Oil based products also can get washed into seas or oceans. Over time, the plastic products can release poisonous toxins, harming wildlife and polluting nearby rivers. Comparing biodegradable products to plastic products you can see that biodegradable products use up to seventy percent less carbon dioxide to produce than plastic products. It also only takes twelve weeks for biodegradable products to decompose. Recycling waste is a simple answer to our problem, but instead, the shortage of waste treatment systems can ... However due to the disproportionate number of hours spent on the sport rather than academics without receiving compensation is causing many high school athletes to turn down athletic scholarships and instead begin to focus on their academic futures. Growing up on a cattle farm, with horses and the necessary machinery, I was exposed to many conditions that have taught me valuable lessons and allowed me to thrive as a young individual. One of the main reasons that I have been able to thrive under these circumstances is because of my family members ensuring my safety. My family has always been rigorous about teaching me how to stay safe from the many dangers on our farm that could leave me vulnerable to injury and illness. On our farm, we consider the health and safety of our family to be our number one priority. When I was young, my parents restricted my access to worksites on the farm and were certain to reduce my exposure to hazardous situations to ensure my safety and well being. I was prohibited to go near the cattle without one of my adult family members being with me and was not allowed to roam around the farm without the supervision of an adult. I became progressively mesmerized by the livestock on our farm and wanted to be more involved with them so that I could pursue my curiosity. While this worried my parents to a certain degree, they supported my curiosity and began to give me modified tasks and chores that I was capable of doing without putting me in harm s way. This concept is not as easy as it may appear; diversity is not just about acceptance and respect. Understanding what diversity is means understanding that each person is unique; it means understanding and recognising our differences; moreover, moving beyond differences of gender, race, age, religious beliefs and political beliefs. Understanding and managing diversity is trying to make sure that all those differences fit together like pieces of a mosaic. The concept is extremely important in today s society, following everything that has been happening related to this matter. We consider ourselves a tolerant and evolved society; yet we still hear of people of colour discriminated and killed everyday, we still hear of women living in horrible conditions, deprived of their dignity and sold as slaves. It appears obvious so, that diversity has to be taken into consideration when we talk about organisations. Coal is retrieved from underground and taken to factories to be burnt to create electricity or to fuel the steel mills. 1 What is coal? Coal is a substance we consider today a fossil fuel, created from all the dead plants millions of years ago. Coal is formed from prehistoric plants that when they die are not able to release the energy they built up from photosynthesis Typically the plants had fallen into large swamps and bogs, and then over time the dead plants lying on the bottom of the swamps and bogs were slowly covered with other dead plants and sediment build up. Once buried the plants were subjected to high amounts of pressure and temperatures, which over long periods of time it becomes peat then eventually creates coal.
