resources (human, financial,
physical, and information), with
the aim of achieving
organization goals in an efficient
and effective manner.

Production- Application of resources such as people and
machinery to convert materials into finished goods and
services.

parameters to achieve or create value for customers is

deliver the firm’s
primary products and
services.
OBJECTIVE OF Production Management System-
• The objective of production management is to
produce good service of right quality and quantity at
the right time and right manufacture cost.

• Timeliness one of
the important
parameter to judge
the effectiveness of
production
department
RIGHT MANUFACTURE
COST
• Manufacture cost are
established before
the product is
actually
manufactured.
• All attempt should be
made to produce the
products at pre-
established cost.

PLANNING
• PLANNING: Activities the establishes a course of
action and guide future decision making is planning.
• The operation manager defines the objectives for the
operations sub system of the organization, and the
policies, and procedures for achieving the objectives.
• It also involves product planning, facility designing
and using the conversion process.
ORGANIZING
ORGANIZING: Activates that establishes a structure of
tasks and authority.
Operation manager establish a structure of roles the
flow of information within the operation system .
They determine the activities required to achieve the
goals and assign authority and the responsibility for
carrying them out.
CONTROLLING
• Activates of ensure the actual performance in
accordance with planned performance.
• To ensure that the plans for the operations subsystems
are accomplished , the operation manager must
exercise control by measuring actual outputs and the
comparing to planned operations management,
controlling cost, quality and scheduled are the
important function here.
BEHAVIOUR
Operation mangers are concerned with how their efforts
to plan, organize, and control can affect management’s
planning, organizing and controlling action.
