The student created three design series exploring reflection and repetition, changing spaces, and the word "annoying". For the fourth series, they documented organisms and wanted to incorporate drawing, sculpting, photography, and design. They created posters collaborating with a partner focusing on skin, water, and nature. For the fifth assignment, the student learned about video editing, perception, composition, and production through creating a one-minute video exploring preparation, creation, and connecting shots through angles and movement while maintaining variety.

This was an assignment to test different variations of a pattern that could be made from typography itself. 10 of these are patterns, and the other 10 are abstract forms of letters.
These images are all typefaces that create beautiful and unexpected shapes that could considered logos. This was an assignment to study the forms of letters and how they can connect to create elegant shapes and angles.
This assignment was to only use one typeface for each page. This assignment taught me about paragraph styles and justifications along with the rag of sentence structures.
This is a fairly long folder that depicts the ideas of the struggles that african americans have to deal with by the shapes of the letters. This was an assignment that was assigned in my Typography 1 class during my sophmore year at risd (2015)

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.
1. The first series in Design that I created
was something I had to make by
utilizing the space around me to create
an experience that places a viewer in
that space. What I chose to try and
portray was a sense of reflection
and repetition. I tried to use
the repetition
of words to
play on the
forms and shapes I
saw within the images
I took.One way that
could have made my
work better, was to create
things that physically
overlapped and the
types of imagery that
overlapped created
a larger picture. I
also thought about
different ways people
recall a place, there
are different senses
we use to remember
something like sight and
smell and taste and
some things that could
have helped portray
my area. This series
I created was at first
depicting the shapes/
forms and colors
that I saw throughout
the duration I was there.
I wanted to capture
not only the illustrations of the place
but possible feelings and depictions
of images I saw. I thought that this
could help me design my final pieces
by using certain kinds of color to help
reflect what I saw and what was really
there in the space.
2. The second series in Design that I
did was based on the changing of
space itself. I thought a lot about the
execution of the project - how and
where it would be going and why that
space. The place I picked was perfect
because, I wanted it to be a space
where it was open and enclosed at
all times. The reason
for this
was because
It had interesting
light features that
surrounded objects I placed
throughout the space. When
documenting my work I
wanted to give a sense of
the reason I was doing it.
In the book I think a few
ways that could have
helped the book be
more successful were:
changing the book
so that it is larger and full
scale photos are used.
Another thing would be to
render the book so that parts
of the pages interact with
other parts of the book - so
instead of individual
pieces of the book it is
more of a cohesive piece of work.
One of the ways I thought of
doing this was to actually sew the
accordion book so that it is together
but also separable.I think by making
connections i can see different
relationships within the book.
3. The third series of design lead me to think
of a lot of different words at first. I was able
to narrow it down to the word “Annoying”
because, I felt that the word fit the object
perfectly. I thought that this word fit
it well because, a lot of small objects
that aren't too useful (to me) are always
fairly annoying. So, the first week I was
experimenting with type itself,
trying to find a
simple
form
that i could maybe
use for the final week.
That week I pulled from digital
aspects of my studies, and
handmade tactics from the crit
and discussions within groups.
The last week we had to make
a “final” piece, I decided that I
would try and make
image - into type.
Although I
realized later this
wasn't necessarily the
objective, I quite enjoyed
it. I feel that I learned from
it because it wasn’t the right
way of executing his objective.
I think i’ve come up with better
alternatives than the “final” I
made. I want to try and utilize
objects to create shapes
that resemble letters and could
possibly resignate to the
viewer as actually
“annoying”
or things they
associate with that are infact “annoying”.
Some ideas that I have thought about are:
utilize things inside a room that people
think are annoying to take the shape of the
word annoying. Or going into an unknown
area an assembling things that people think
are annoying typically in a setting to take
the form of the word annoying. I think that
the things that we have been mentioning in
class are helpful to further develope better
versions or ideas of an original concept.
4. For the fourth unit of design we had to choose a
word that brought up a lot of ideas for us, and for
me I instantly after getting my word index, about
organization and documentation. So I had went to
the nature lab and documented many organisms,
from there I thought of what I could branch off
from there. I wanted to draw, I wanted to sculpt,
I wanted to design, and I wanted to
take photos. In the beginning a lot of my
parts ended up being vectors of
photographs, when I redid a lot
of my parts I explored many more
mediums. I ended up scanning
a lot of things that I did or
didn’t use, but I also included many
smaller parts of those scanned
parts that I thought incorporated
well with my photos or designs.
As we began to make our
posters I at first wanted to
create a really well organized
system of my parts and I
wanted them to connect
systematically, not really
based on content but organization
- relating back to my word. When
we ended up collaborating with our
partners I really branched away from
my concept I carried in my own posters
and completely embraced the ideas and
designs of my partners. I wanted to use
my work to try and enhance their idea
so I ended up only using my scans
of body parts because, in my partner’s
poster she focused on the word
wet and the role that plays for human beings. This
concept really made me think of skin, and water
and warm and cool colors, so I tried to create a
feeling the viewer could have when looking at these
two posters - one warm and human feeling while
the other feels more like motion based and heavily
relying on water content/ or nature. I think critically
I could have designed my second poster based on
nature much more effectively, by trying to differ the
images between the two so that they do not relate
too well as they do now.
5. The fifth assignment for design was very
interesting. I think that i mostly focused on
the types of video i took and the angles
they had. the things that I learned most
from this assignment was mostly video
editing I also learned about Perception
and how to a sense of awareness and
how time affects design.I learned about
composition, in particular and how that
affects the meaning of my video. and
Production To be subjected to and
practice with movie editing software.
In my one minute video what I believe
a minute is as an artist is somewhat a
counting mechanism for preparation
and how we begin parts of creation. I
think that the way
I created
it was
meant
to be
somewhat suspenseful in the
kinds of cuts I created in my
shots. Not only this, but I also
wanted to show an interesting
connection between all of
the shots by this i mean the
shots that have the same kind of
angles, or ones that have the
same kind of movement. I
wanted my video to be very
cohesive in that sense,
but also have
a variety of
differences within the
one minute. I think the idea of a minute
is also interesting in the way i tried to
develope my thoughts on what I believed
it to be, which is creation and vast ways
of creation. This was the thing I learned
the most from, which is the act of putting
things together that may look different but
have a very similar concept or action, in
my case it was all of the shots I took to
make the video.
