1. Problem Solution Essay
Crafting a Problem Solution Essay can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. It demands a
thorough understanding of the chosen problem, extensive research to uncover its roots, and a
creative approach to propose effective solutions. The complexity lies in presenting a well-
structured and coherent argument that not only identifies the problem but also convincingly
addresses it.
One of the initial hurdles is selecting a pertinent issue that holds significance in the given
context. This involves delving into various subjects, evaluating their relevance, and determining
their impact on society or a specific environment. Once the problem is identified, the next
challenge is to gather substantial evidence through research, which may involve scouring
academic journals, books, and credible online sources.
The articulation of the problem and the proposed solutions is a crucial aspect of the essay.
Striking the right balance between presenting a compelling case for the severity of the issue and
offering viable solutions can be intricate. The writer must delve into the intricacies of the
problem without overwhelming the reader, and at the same time, provide practical and feasible
solutions.
The organizational structure of a Problem Solution Essay demands a clear and logical
progression of ideas. The introduction sets the stage by presenting the problem, the body of the
essay delves into its complexities, and the conclusion brings everything together by proposing
concrete solutions. Maintaining coherence and flow between these sections is essential for a
seamless reading experience.
Additionally, the writer must pay attention to the language and tone used. Clarity is paramount,
and the language should be accessible to the target audience. Balancing formality with
engagement is another tightrope walk, ensuring that the essay is both informative and interesting.
In conclusion, the difficulty of writing a Problem Solution Essay lies in the meticulous process
of problem identification, extensive research, thoughtful solution proposals, and the overall
structural and linguistic finesse required. However, overcoming these challenges can result in a
compelling piece that not only highlights a critical issue but also contributes meaningful solutions.

2. What Is The Theme Of Arranged Marriage By Divakaruni
This paper is an attempt to study the birth of New Woman, in the light of feministic
analysis, in the Immigrant Indian women characters in the short stories of Chitra
Banerjee Divakaruni s Arranged Marriage . It deplores that being trapped between
tradition and modernity, Chitra B. Divakaruni s immigrant heroines are fully
conscious of being victims of genderdiscrimination prevalent in the conservative
male dominated society. C. Divakaruni gives her pragmatic resolutions related to the
modern Indian Immigrant women s beleaguered existence. Repudiating the
femininity, the housewifery and the duties to their coercive husbands, her
protagonists transform themselves into the beings of self assertive, self independent
and self actualised spirit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. Social Marketing For Public Health
Interestingly, a key focus in Cheng, Kotler and Lee s Social Marketing for Public
Health book remains not only relevant but significant in current social marketing
interventions. The authors discussion of public health issues found that for such
social issues to experience a behavioural change, no single agency is able to make
a dent by itself, (Cheng, Kotler, and Lee, 2011) hence it was recognised that a global
trend in using partnerships at; local, national or international levels is a better way to
enforce individuals to get involved (Cheng, Kotler, and Lee, 2011).
At present, the five year ambition to introduce early intervention services through
psychological therapies remain encouraged by policy makers, in the belief that the
more awareness for the project at a local scale, will help reduce the stigma and
discrimination that surrounds mental health (Gov.uk, 2015) and encourage more
people to speak out and seek the medical support they need. (Gov.uk, 2015). The
NHS programme runs through the partnership of Child Adolescent Mental Health
Services (CAMHS) to actively focus on the needs of children and young people by
offering assessment and treatment for those who may suffer from emotional,
behavioural, or mental health difficulties.
Prior to the financial increase in psychological therapies, the programme ran a pilot
scheme in 2011 to test out whether the intervention was able to benefit those
struggling with stress, anxiety or depression
4. Surrealism In The Surrealist Manifesto
Surrealism stemmed from the idea of representing the unconscious mind,
unburdening of the individual from societal norm, and emancipating human desire.
Surrealists, sought for freedom of mind and sexual emancipation however their
depiction women as idealized females, passive muses, fuellers of fantasies and mere
sexual creatures stripped women of their identities. Andre Breton kindled the
movement with his surrealist manifesto, guiding surrealists after him; Breton s view
of Freudian subconscious and his call for the elimination of reason societal norms
resulted in sexual awakening, depiction of male fantasies and overtly sexualized
female figures. Rene Magritte, depicted the male gaze, the perception of the female in
society and the objectification... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The representation of women and the female body in surrealist art is best
exemplified in Dali s In Voluptas Mors and in Rene Magritte s Le Viol . Dali
distorted female bodies, producing a nightmarish effect in his most notorious
photograph titled In Voluptas Mors, which translates to Voluptuous Death. The
black and white photo is of nude women arranged to resemble a skull. Female
figure is sexualized and objectified and also is depicted to be death itself. The
photograph depicts distorted torsos creating a skull, women are merely naked
torso s, voluptuous and sexual. Without individuality and identity the bodies in
Dali s work, are an example the female image surrealism. Magritte s most shocking
and contradictory work, Le Viol , can be translated as the rape . In the painting,
nipples replaces eyes, a belly button where her nose should be, and a vulva for a
mouth, the female face is erased by the female torso imposed upon it. The painter
might be suggesting that female anatomy is bound to be her destiny, that this is how
the society views her. One might see this as Magritte criticizing the values of his
times as the painting is open to interpretation. However, there is no doubt that he
indented to shock his viewers. The artist s intentions aside,
5. Tsar Nicholas s The Great War
Introduction Tsar Nicholas II s reign was turbulent, seeing wars, revolutions, and a
general sense of displeasure from the people and the government. Intellectuals
were no longer content with living under an autocracy and believed that the
Russian government was archaic and inefficient. Peasants spoke out against their
poor living and working conditions. By 1917, Nicholas reign was over and the
Romanov family was no longer in power. One of the leading causes of the
Romanov downfall was Nicholas himself. Although the situation in which he
inherited the throne were not ideal, his character and method of dealing with state
affairs did not help. His personality affected his leadership style, making his
leadership style an unpopular one. Even his most trusted advisors and friends
came second to Nicholas desire to uphold autocracy in Russia. The influence of
Pyotr Stolypin and Sergei Witte, two of Nicholas senior officials, faded as
Nicholas thought they hindered his supreme autocracy. Nicholas character was also
evident in the Great War. His many stubborn decisions, despite being constantly
advised against them, caused Russia much grief during and after the war. Nicholas
wife Alexandra influenced many of these decisions and other decisions on state
affairs. Nicholas personality allowed Alexandra to have a large impact on his reign.
This further gave Grigori Rasputin a large political presence in Russia as well.
Nicholas s personality was one of the factors that
6. Why Is Caribou Disappearing
The caribou are the most endangered species in the 48 lower states. The Caribou
that are still living can be found in the Selkirk Mountains near Canadian Border,
Idaho, and northeast Washington. The biggest reason for the disappearing of the
Caribou is predation. Since the Caribou are disappearing they are also known as the
gray ghost. The Selkirk herd of caribou can be found in the snowy old forest in Idaho,
and in the northeast part of Washington, but they spend most of their time in
Southern Canada. The Selkirk herd is not the only group that is disappearing, you
also have the mountain caribou. The Mountain Caribou are located in southern
British Columbia. There are also Tundra Caribou that are located in the polar region,

Predation is the biggest reason that the caribou are disappearing. According to the
article, ten years ago there were thousands of caribou in the Selkirk Mountains, but
today the large decline of caribou is because of the wolves. The threat was so serious
that the Canadian government began killing the wolves. The Canadian government
has killed entire wolf packs to keep the caribou from going extinct. On top of killing
to wolves the government has also started maternity penning . Maternity penning is
when they take pregnant caribou and move then to a protected area, then when the

7. Benefits Of Gifted And Gifted Students
Introduction
According to the National Association for Gifted Children, The term gifted and
talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students,
children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas
as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic
fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in
order to fully develop those capabilities (Definitions of Giftedness, 2017, pg. 1).
Gifted and talented students require learning that challenges them but also allows
them to explore their creativity and come up with their own conceptions on what they
are learning about and how it relates to their lives. While gifted and talented students
are on a higher learning level and need to be challenged you still have to understand
that they are also still children. Gifted and talented students can struggle just like
other students and also might have behavioral problems like other students as well.

8. Trichinella Lab Report
OUTBREAK REPORT ON TRICHINOSIS EPIDEMIC IN FRANCE
SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
Trichinosis also referred to as trichinellosis is caused by ingesting the larvae of the
parasitic roundworm species called Trichinella. The infection commonly occurs
after eating raw or undercooked meat from animals such as domestic pigs or wild
boar, horses, bear or cougar. The Trichinella larvae will form a cyst within the
striated muscles of these animals and once ingested will mature into adult worms in
the small intestine after 1 2 days. These adult worms will mate and produce eggs,
which will then develop into larvae that cross into the blood system and migrate to
striated muscles where they form cysts. The clinical presentation of Trichinosis varies

diagnosed in the Auvergne community, details to include were the signs and
symptoms of cases, in addition hematological tests looking for eosinophilia as well

all cases who had who had unexplained eosinophilia. The local media were used to
educate the public about the possible risk of trichinosis associated with ingesting raw

practitioner if they had flu like symptoms with facial edema or muscular pain.
Case Definition

positive for trichinella or in whom serial immunofluorescence (IF) assays
demonstrated seroconversion.

different control groups were developed. One study had used controls who were
asymptomatic persons who lived with the patients. While the
9. Essay on Security and Terrorism
The government can implement many new methods to increase security, or better
yet give off the image of better security which is what they have predominantly
done, yet ultimately there will always be a way to bypass or come up with a new
way to infiltrate that measure. The government so far has done a variety of things
ranging from the closing of the Dulles airport (permanently), working with the FAA
on new security measures, having pilots carryhandguns, and a not so specific,
profiling.
Well the first and easiest of the new security measures is the permanent closing of
the airport, which is very near the heart of our nation s political machine. Seeing how

incendiary devices checked on an airplane. With all these new regulations plus a
list of similar ones, there will be several unpleasant side effects for the citizens of
this country. Passengers should expect to arrive 2.5 3 hours in advanced to make
sure you will make your flight. There will be a new security tax on all tickets
which will up travel prices. In addition, more electronic gadgets, which are very
often used by the business traveler of today and tomorrow, will be banned and
strictly checked. However, the upside is that it should make citizens feel safer about
traveling.
The fourth way of tightening security is more on a psychological scale. Last week in
Minneapolis, Northwest Airlines officials hauled three Arab Americans off a flight to
Salt Lake City when other
10. The Traveling Companion Character Analysis
One of Han Christian Handerson s superb fairy tales is about a hero who accepts a
challenge that many would think is impossible. The hero in the The Traveling
Companion began his journey shortly after his dead Father appeared to him in a
dream. In his dream, his Father reveals to John a glimpse of his future. John then
voyages beyond his home to unknown lands, encountering various people and
creatures. Yet, the hero is not alone. He meets a mysterious traveler who soon will
become his companion. An addition, the friendship that grows between the hero and
his companion is an inspiration. Also, throughout the story the hero experiences
magical adventures and faces many trials that support his heroic character. For

decency nature towards all things and his loving Father s words in his dream. John
may be poor with material objects, but he is rich with the qualities of a chivalry
Knight which is noted by his action of taking on a task that princes and royal men
have failed at. One of the most critical moment in the traveling companion is when
John crosses the threshold by accepting a challenge that princes and noble men have
died trying achieve. John understood completely the outcome of the challenge that
powerful men have attempted before but he humbly acquires it because of his faith
in his father and his heroic quality of perseverance. For example, the old king of the
unknown land sorrowfully expresses to John that his fate will be similar as all the
other noblemen who lay in the earth with soulless bodies. An addition to that, his dear
companion also tells John that it is foolish to proceed. Nevertheless, John heeds to the
warnings, but willfully continues the impossible venture. Though many outwardly
judge John because he was not a noble like the rest who attempted this endeavor.
They will soon realize that he has more nobility than any prince throughout the lands.
Still, John was not alone for his faithful companion aided him in this endeavor. His
companion would stay up till dawn, finding any possible ways that John could achieve
11. Victorian Era Women
During the Victorian era most Victorians had a strong belief in romantic love. It
definitely was not a normal for people to sleep with one another before they were
married. Younger women were generally expected to remain a virgin until they
were married. Sometimes even though two people were married, it was not because
they were in love. The upper and middle class women were monitored, and were
never left alone with any of the young men. Romance for the Victorians could be a

the use of various personal accessories such as fans, parasols, and gloves to relay

12. Survival As Shown During The Holocaust Period
Survival as shown in the Holocaust Period
The horrors of the Holocaust period have been portrayed in many movies, books,
and other works throughout history. The period of the Holocaust presents readers
and viewers with themes such as survival and hope in hardships faced by prisoners
to reach life after the harsh conditions they lived through in concentration camps. In
the face of overwhelming evil, the film Schindler s List, directed by Steven
Spielberg, tells the story of the Nazi party and their power over the Jews. This film is
based on the novel Schindler s Ark by Thomas Keneally, an Australian novelist, who
exhibits the unbroken spirits and will of survival from the Jews and other minority
groups that were imprisoned. In the film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Survival is ultimately the main goal of these two men and the way the Holocaust
period affected their lives.
Vladek sums up the process succinctly while consoling his wife after the death of
his first son, Richieu: he says to die, it s easy...but you have to struggle for life .
From the beginning of the novel, readers are exposed to how important the theme
of survival is. In the initial stages of the German occupation of eastern Europe,
things like buying food on the black market, were intensified by strong family
bonds, a unified Jewish identity, and even self sacrifice. When Vladek comes
home from the prisoner of war camp, for example, an old business colleague,
Mr.Ilzecki, helps him earn money and obtain the proper work papers that will
allow him to walk the streets in safety. As the situation continues to worsen,
however, Vladek, his family, and his friends are forced to resort to increasingly
extreme measures in order to survive. Here, the ties of Jewish identity begin to
break under the pressing nature to survive. The first sign of this comes in the form
of Jews serving on a Jewish police force, comparable to the ones who came to
Vladek s home to escort his wife s grandparents to the concentration camps.
Rendering to Vladek, these Jews thought that by helping the Nazis in taking some of
the Jews, perhaps they could help save others and of course they could also save
themselves.
The relationship between Vladek and Anja remains solid

Narnia was not just a place where a little girl stumbles into a curious creature
named Tumnus. This was a land C.S Lewis created to show the world Heaven and
God; the worlds creator. Lewis wished to tell society the Christian story, in which he
believed, in hopes to maybe change the hearts of those who have a blind eye towards
this religion. In Narnia there is a ruler named Aslanwho is this lands God, portrayed
as a lion. In the Bible it talks of God as a lion such as it does in the book of Psalms
58:6. O God, Shatter their teeth in their mouth; break out the fangs of the young

C.S Lewis was not always a Christian. In fact Lewis was an atheist. An atheist is a
person who does not believe in any greater/higher being. After being saved, he
wanted the world to see God in a way they could comprehend. Not all people can
easily accept the fact that there is a greater being that made man from the earth
and woman from the rib of man. Not many people can accept that it was God who
created everything around them. Most of all people have a hard time with
believing in something that they cannot touch, see, hear, or feel. However, most
people will succumb to a good fairy tale, and believe in what they know is fiction.

marries the world with flesh (Shurden 2). The significance of The Lion, the Witch,

Though the novel Song of Solomon focuses on the character of Milkman and his
journey of self discovery, Pilate orchestrates much of Milkman s rebirth and
newfound sense of identity both directly and indirectly in her role as a mentor and
can be viewed as a protagonist in her own right. Through the act of singing, Pilate
passed down knowledge to Milkman that he eventually comes to realize is the key to
finding his familyhistory. Pilate s Sugarman done fly away, Sugarman done gone,

19. Inventory And Inventory Control System
INTRODUCTION:
The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need.
Taichi Ohno
What is Inventory?
Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely
finished goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will
be ready for sale to customers.
Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to
be usually good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and
spoilage costs. On the other hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little
inventory isn t good either, because the business runs the risk of losing out on
potential sales and potential market shares. (1)
In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been
followed and there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and
flow of inventory. Typically there are two standard inventory control systems that are
followed within organizations for effective Inventory Management:
Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting
inventory needs to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a
prediction as to which product the customers would purchase and also determine the
quantity of products that will be purchased. Everything in a push system is decided
on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the major flaw in the system.
These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as
20. Social Communication And Human Characteristics Of
Social...
It is extremely important to understand the traits of social media and the human
factors impacting technology because if we did not, there would be a lot more
miscommunications and misunderstandings between people. For example, social
media users need to understand that social media communication is limited compared
to face to face communication. Factors such as Temporal Structure, which is the time
it takes to send and receive a message, affect how effective social media
communication is. Also, Asynchronous communication, which is communication
that occurs when participants are not co present, could cause communication
problems because the people who are communicating might not be as involved in a
conversation. Tone and other signs that people give off to relay emotions and
messages are not present in many social communication forms as well.
There are three key steps in the Perception Process. The first is to Observe
someone s behavior and determine what the behavior means. The second is to
describe the behavior to the person objectively. It is important to not show any
approval or disapproval to their actions in this step. Next, you explain your
personal perception of the behavior. This step is very important because you let the
person know how YOU feel, and this will allow them to respond to your feelings
accordingly. It is also important to be ready to change or alter your perception based
on the person s reaction to your perception checking process.
Automatic social cognition or perception means that someone is arriving to
conclusions about situations, people, or themselves, without much conscious
awareness or intention on what the future effects might be. On the other hand,
conscious or controlled cognition means that someone is stopping to think about
something intentionally, because they realise that their thoughts can affect what
happens in a situation. This means that automatic social cognition is always
happening and can lead to someone making decisions and judgements that are not
very thought out or reasonable. One time I made the automatic and unconscious
assumption that someone was weird just because they watched Japanese cartoons, I
told my friend and this ended up spreading to the person I was
21. United Nations Framework Convention On Climate Change
From melting glaciers to devastating storms and stranded polar bears, the mascots of
climate change show how rapidly the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) are changing
the planet. Such examples, in addition with the rising price of energy, drive people to
want to reduce consumption and lower their personal shares of global emissions. In
the 1990s, almost every member state of the United Nations resolved to confront
global warmingand manage its consequences. Thus the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) international treaty recognized a unified
resolve to curb global warming. In 1997, the Kyoto Protocolstrengthened the
convention. The process of cutting the carbon is a complex business and not all
hybrid design would be a success in regard to uncertainties and political lobbying
involved. The regulation of the government, participation of the industry and other
participants can make the system effective over a certain time span.
Carbon trading, often called emissions trading (ET), is a market based tool to limit
GHG. The carbon market trades emissions under cap and trade schemes (CTS) or
with credits that pay for or offset GHG reductions. The scheme s governing body
begins by setting a cap on allowable emissions. It then distributes or auctions off
emissions allowances that total the cap. Member firms that do not have enough
allowances to cover their emissions must either make reductions or buy another firm
s spare credits. Members with extra
22. Why Is Gladiator Movie True
The movie Gladiator, released in 2000, was directed by Ridley Scott. It was
produced by Douglas wick, David Franzoni, and Branki Lustig. The three stars were
Russell Crowe playing Maximus, Joaquin Phoenix playing Commodus, and Connie
Nielsen playing Lucilla. Gladiator is a one part movie that won five academy awards.
Maximus decides to retire from the Roman Army after a battle over the germanic
tribes. After Commodus has killed his father the enperor and Maximus family,
Maximus is captured and kept as a slave. He is sold to a man named Proximo who
trains him to become a gladiator to get revenge on Commodus for what he did to his
family. Maximus must go to the colosseum and fight his way to freedom and then
kill Commodus. But Maximus earns so much respect from the crowd that now
jealous Commodus decides to fight Maximus in the colosseum himself. Before the
fight Commodus fatally stabs Maximus in the side. Maximus still fights Commodus
and ends up killing him, but dies later from the stab wound in his side. Maximus is

Most of this movie is fictional. Commodus did not kill his father. He took the
throne as a teenager, had a wife, and was very strong and good in battle. He ruled
for 13 years, rather than a short period like in the movie. Commodus did not die in
the arena either, he died in the bath from being strangled. The producers tried to put a
spin on the actual events by putting in a fictual character (Maximus) and adding in
fictional events to make it something more of the own rather than just a

Introduction The so called Islamic State, also known as ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq

attention as of late. Its brutal tactics, vehement opposition to western influenced
societal norms, and ultra radical interpretation of Sharia law have sent scholars,
journalists, government officials, and ordinary citizens into a frenzy trying to
comprehend this troubling phenomenon. ISIS is responsible for countless atrocities
to include horrific beheadings, immolation, and chilling video releases of hostages
and ominous threats. It has proven keenly adept at recruiting new members to its

The combination of these factors has greatly influenced the coalescence and
successes of ISIS thus far. Furthermore, I agree with Dr. Paul Staniland of the
University of Chicago in determining that ISIS represents what can be considered a
vanguard insurgent organization, and has the potential to coalesce into an integrated
one in the future. Finally, ISIS shares several key similarities and differences with
notable Islamic political organizations and insurgent networks of the past few to
include the Palestinian Hamas and the Afghan Taliban. To properly analyze these
factors of development, relevant theoretical framework will be highlighted including
insurgent cohesion and development, alliance formation in civil wars and the factors
determining levels of insurgent violence. Second, a comparative study of the
previously mentioned organizations will be utilized to cross examine ISIS
composition and behavior. Similarities and differences in organizational structure
and methodology between the case studies will be correlated. Finally, using existing
theory as well as relevant data from the case studies will lead to determining whether
ISIS is truly unique or merely a facsimile of other radical Islamic political
insurgencies progressing through a certain stage of development. The case studies

Recent research has shown that more young adults are moving back home with their

several reasons for why young adults have returned home after leaving. In a

Dunn suggests that young adults are experiencing failure to launch because of the
financial difficulties of living alone during a recession (Dunn, 2012). According to
Dunn, High school and college grads have a hard time trying to find a meaningful
job due to the fact of fewer jobs to choose from and more competition to fill them
and even a harder time transitioning from an entry level job to a career (Dunn,
2012). About 13% of adult children between 18 and 29 move back in with their
parents after an attempt to live alone, majority of them are females that state that
the economy cause they to move back home (Dunn, 2012). Going to college has
become very popular these day but the degrees don t seem to have a positive effect
as far as leading to a job as it once did and living on minimal wage is impossible
(Dunn, 2012) Living back home also enables a young adults to reduce their
expenses and focus on saving money. Rather than struggling to make ends meet,
they can put money in their savings accounts or investments and begin growing a
nest egg (Dunn, 2012). People who use their parents as a safety net with no greater
financial goal in mind are doomed to never launch away from home; those who use
it as a carefully calculated stepping stone to a more successful life are much more
likely to launch successfully and stay independent ( Dunn, 2012).

There are several ways to define what it means to be intelligent. Some people may
define being intelligent by excelling in academics. While others may feel like they
are intelligent because they know a lot of information. Being intelligent does not
require you to have a high GPA nor does it center itself around how many books
you read. You do no have to have to receive a college degree to be intelligent. It
could just come from a skill you have. I think that being intelligent comes from
helping people. If you are willing to help people and receive no reward, then you
must be intelligent. What better way is there to be intelligent than to know you have

This paper considers that focused primarily on human iris. This choice of this topic
was made due to interest of wanting to provide knowledge about the factors that
determine eye color. I know, like hair or skin, brown eyes are dominant over blue
eye genes. I also know that a person can be identified by the retina scanners because
everyone has their iris with unique structural patterns.
The iris is a thin diaphragm made of connective tissue and smooth muscle fibers. It
lies between the cornea and lens. The iris is composed of three layers including
endothelium, stroma and epithelium. The anterior chamber, the space between the
cornea and the lens is divided into two chambers. The patterns that form the structure
of the iris are unique to each person. Like fingerprints, iris pattern complexity can
potentially identify a person.
In the center of the iris is the pupil. Iris function is to control the size of the pupil.
This pupil dilation allows a certain amount of light to enter the eye. A bright
environment stimulates limiting diaphragm to contract the sphincter muscle and
reducing the amount of light entering the eye. A dark room stimulates the dilator to
relax and dilate in the effort to increase the amount of light entering the eye. The
pupil constriction also occurs when the lens changes focus so that the eye can see
something on a fence. This is known as the, Äúnear reflection., AU Sometimes the

Radiation safety
Radiation safety of patients, radiographers and other individuals in ICU should be
considered according to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle.
General radiation safety principles include time, distance and shielding (7). Since the
patient is male, no pregnancy check is needed.
To protect the patient, the length of time that a patient remains in the path of the x ray
beam should be minimized. Therefore, it is important for radiographers to avoid
unnecessary repeats and thus unnecessary exposure. Gonad shielding should be used
on patients if possible, which is particularly important for young patients. In addition,
proper collimations and adjusted exposure factors should be applied according to
patient situations to minimize radiation dose (7).
Radiographers should protect themselves as well. The time spent in radiation fields
should be limited by taking shifts. Radiographers should stand as far away from
source as possible to increase distance between radiation source and themselves. They
should stand behind appropriate radiation shields or, more commonly, wear
appropriate protection (7). According to a previous study, leadapron is the most
common method of radiation protection as it may

Entry barriers: High/Low
Often time, new players brings new resources which can force product price down
and as well reduce profitability of the industry (Mann Byun 2011). Therefore,
incumbents on the defending side raise the threat for new players. The existing
retailers safeguard their position by aggressively expanding their production
differentiation in the aspect of brand loyalty, brand identification, customer service,

38. The Science of Wheat Flour
Most bread is made with wheat flour and when this flour is either kneaded or beaten,
gluten starts to develop. This gives the dough its elasticity and its stretchy
consistency. When the gluten proteins are coated with water high molecular weight
glycoprotein weakened due to the cutting action of kneading and mixing and they are
rearranged into layers to form gluten.
The two main proteins involved in the gluten making process are gliadin and
glutenin. When starches are heated in water, they suck up the water and swell. They
eventually bust and the water that was incased inside the granule comes out and
forms a thick gel, this is called gelatinsiatation. This is not very common in bread as
not much water is used, so most granules don t bust but are incased with water. All
of these starch granules are all linked and the gluten s job is to break down and
release water, which is absorbed by the starch granules. This in turn makes the gluten
set and become stiff, which is why bread doesn t fold when taken out of the oven.
Water s main purpose is to hydrate the other ingredients. Water feeds the starch
proteins as stated above which starts the forming of dough. Water is also dispersed
evenly throughout the dough and since yeast needs moisture to work its magic water
aids in this process.
Yeast has a couple of functions in the bread making process. The first is that the
dough starts to expand due to the yeast and therefore produces the bread s crumb.
Secondly, yeast

The history of polymers stretch back millions of years. These primitive polymers
were created by nature to fulfill the needs of information storage, energy storage and

the last two hundred years or so. These polymers are general made of highly
flammable hydrocarbons and their derivatives. Fires caused by a combination of

fact that has lead to scientists devoting time and resources to making polymers safer.

This dehydrates the polymer, forming the protective carbon layer. At higher
temperatures the phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species
and can under go polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the
cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species work the same way, they
form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final pathway
that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space.
This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into
the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas
phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this
species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water
vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated,
where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form
hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen
or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the
halogen used. Bromine is the most common due to it narrow temperature activation
range. Chlorine is the next most common but due to a broad temperature range is not
as useful. Florine and

represents those qualities such as: nurture, care and a fluid of life. It carries a
symbol as a fluid of innocence, in the case of the film, it s symbolic towards both
Mathilda and Leon s childhood. In many ways Leon is portrayed as an more
immature figure than Mathilda. Leon is a middle aged man who does know how
to read or write, and finds extraordinary pleasure from the most unornamented
forms of entertainment, nor does Leon have any desires of sex or relationships.
1Leon goes by to one rule no women no children, regardless of earning 5,000$ per
contract that is given to him. As a dedicated cleaner, Leon without doubt does not
want change in his life, but then as Mathilda realizes that Leon s profession is a
hitman, her mission becomes clear, to take revenge on Stansfield, for the death of her
little brother.
The music in film is The Dark Side of Time, the theme from La Femme Nikita,
about a girl training to be an assassin. Mathilda desires to learn how to clean and is
willing to work under Leon. Leon at first declines Mathilda s trade, but ultimately
concedes to be worn down. Leon begins to enjoy having Mathilda
42. Era Of Good Feelings Essay
The Era of Good Feelings was a traditional name given to the years of James
Monroe s presidency, following the end of the War of 1812. Events such as the
Louisiana Purchase, which nearly doubled the size of American land and proved the
Federalist party didn t have much as they opposed the purchase, and fighting against
the Barbary Pirates which gained the American navy respect made people in
America proud to be there and led up to the good feelings. The time was mostly
characterized by an increase of nationalistic spirits as the Republican party become
the single party in the United Statesafter Monroe won against Rufus King, his
Federalist opponent in the 1816 election. Nationalism would have a large influence
on many features of American culture and economics; however, there were also
many tensions growing during this time as well. There was much discourse over
issues such as the national bank, tariffs, and internal improvements. The Republican
party was the sole party at the time, it was also dividing, with many supporting what
was once Federalist policies. Sectional differences over slaveryand states rights would
also have a major impact on politics and economics, with greater importance than the
results of nationalistic influences.
Nationalism became a part of society through many different cultural areas. Gilbert
Stuart, Charles Willson Peale, and John Trumball painted revolutionary heroes.
Parson Mason Weems wrote a fictitious biography of George Washington.
43. Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Eu s Cohesion Policy
Institutional Balance in the EU s Cohesion Policy: Strengths and Weaknesses,
Opportunities and Costs.
Diversity is one of the main features of European Union (EU). This realises in
various national states, in different languages and cultures, in distinct democratic
political systems and in contradicting development of EU s numerous regions.
While EU tries to preserve differences which make EU Member States special,
disproportions in economic and social development have been seen as a major
challenge for stability of the Union. The existence of Cohesion policy rreflects the
political agreement on the part of all of the Member States of the European Union on
the principle that the process of increasing economic integration in Europe must be ...

This was due to the fact that the founding Member States did not show any
significant territorial differences; the only really important exception was Southern
Italy, but, being alone at that time in the circle of the countries participating in the
integration process, this problem was judged as a specific one to be handled on
the national level. Territorial imbalances have become more important within the
first three decades of the EC. The process became really visible at the end of the
1960s; several circumstances resulted in the increasing need for a proper community
level treatment of social and economic problems of underdeveloped territories and
regions facing specific problems. Such factors as the first project of the Economic
and Monetary Union, the end of the golden era of post war growth and the
enlargements of the EC made necessary a proper treatment of development
differences between regions and Member States.
All the above reasons led to the gradual development of cohesion policy. While in
the early 1970s, the community financing of operations which nowadays can be
characterized as cohesion expenditures was negligible, by the mid 1980s it
constituted one of the key issues of the EC budget. This was also reflected in the
amount of resources spent from the EU budget: it significanly rose from 5.3% of
the EC s general budget in 1970 to 16.7% of the EC s general budget
44. Christian Compounding Defects
It is common knowledge in the building industry that the most important part of a
new building structure, is the foundation. Inasmuch as, any mistakes in it, only gets
worst as you begin to build up. Consequently, there s a term in the industry known as,
Compounding Defects, which simply means that the mistakes will grow when
building upward. Similarly, Jesus, being the Good Shepherd that He is, warned of
three things that could cause serious defects. Furthermore, these defects mentioned in
Matthew 7, have the potential to affect the lives of Christians. Additionally, if
Christians, try to build with these defective materials in their lives, it will be quite
difficult to stand when the storms of life hit. Matthew 7:1 says: Judge
45. Explain The Stages Of Inflammation
Chapter Four: Stages of Inflammation
Inflammation is the body s natural response to injury. An injury to soft tissue can
arise from numerous sources. Physical traumas such as sprain, strain or contusion are
the most common. However, there could also be injuries from viral or bacterial
infection, chemical, or heat injury. Trauma can cause direct damage to cells that are
in the immediate area of injury, causing bleeding. From there, the bleeding causes a
line of events in the inflammatory process that promote healing the injuries tissue.
Stage 1: The Inflammatory Response
Healing of the acute injuries starts with the acute vascular inflammatory response.
The purpose of those vascular changes is to increase the blood flow to the area,

Furthermore, an observational study of romantic partners conducted by Dr.
Parkinson, found that people used certain expressions to elicit a response from their
significant other. Depending on the level of emotion and romantic investment of their

Dr. Parkinson s research and methodologies intended to understand and interpret
emotion from a different perspective than typical sociologists or psychologists. His
strategies involve exploring day to day social situations, where emotion is always a
permanent fixture; affecting interpersonal relationships, both in a positive and
negative manner. Strategically, Parkinson designates emotion as real life interactions
between people, and their emotions expressed in terms of gesticulation, movement,
dialogue, and reticent.
The Emotion and Social Relation Research Group
Founded in 2001, the group is comprised of postgraduate students, exchange students,
and other researchers who all have at least one area of interest in common: emotion.
The research group examines emotions as a process, something directly correlated to
emotions, and behaviors exhibited in interpersonal and group related settings.
Investigations of noteworthy questions utilize several methods, laboratory and field
experiments, assessment of video recordings of staged and real life interactions,

Jung, C. G. (1972). Two essays on analytical psychology
Jung s Two Essays on Analytical Psychology includes the works The Unconscious
in the Normal and Pathological Mind and The Relation of the Ego to the
Unconscious, which are 1928 revisions of previously written papers. Jung, who
was Freud s well known disciple from 1909 to 1914, held ideas different from
Freud s and Adler s that eventually led to personal differences between them,
particularly with Freud; their followers have continued these differences. One of the
point of disagreement is Jung s opinion that Freud s concept of the libido is too
concerned with sexuality and that Adler s will to power is also too simplistic.
Alternatively to Freud, he calls the libido the basic tank ... Show more content on

On the other hand, Freud and Adler had difficulty in refusing the development of both
humanity and the individual and were rigid in their beliefs.
Jung believed that psychic energy had its foundation in the tension of opposites; this
energy could only be used when the proper gradient was found. He also introduced
two very different theories of neurosis, with the first focusing the object and the
second emphasized the subject, are viewed as manifestations of an oppositional type.
The introverted personality type focuses on the subject while the extraversion type
focuses on the object; however, these two types are rare observed in their
unadulterated state. Moreover, the dynamics of a relationship between individuals
who retain contradictory personality types was examined by Jung. Alternatively, to
contrast with the concepts of Freud and Adler, they describe neuroses as sometimes
allocating useful adaptive functions.
The Unconscious in the Normal and Pathological Mind
Jung considers and discusses the concept of the collective unconscious as well as its
role in the process of transference within psychotherapy. He suggests that the
traditional method of dream analysis which must be followed by a discussion when it
is believed that the symbols presented originated in the collective unconscious. Jung
has noted the process of unification of the
48. The Decision For Us Federal Antitrust Law
In seeking to understand the Supreme Court s judgement in Leegin, two questions
immediately come to mind. Firstly, why would the manufacturer seek to establish a
minimum retail price for its product? Secondly, what are the consequences for
consumer welfare, if the manufacturer succeeds in maintaining a higher retail price?.
The first part of this paper attempts to answer these questions whilst deliberating on
the majority and minority judgements of the US Supreme Court in Leegin and the
significance of the decision for US federal antitrust law. The second part of this
paper compares the US Federal and EU approaches to RPM. Several economic
theories postulate enhanced consumer welfare as a reason why a manufacturer might
endorse a policy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economic logic of RPM is to redirect retailers competitive activities from prices to
customer service. Factors such as price, quality, design and customer service on the
part of retailers affect the demand for differentiated consumer goods. Therefore, by
assuring resellers that they will not face discount price competition from other
resellers of the same brand, minimum RPM agreements encourage retailers to invest
in services or promotional efforts to sell that brand against competing brands. So
although RPM may diminish intra brand price competition among retailers selling the
same brand, Grimes argues that it compensates for this by enhancing inter brand
competition between retailers as a result of the increase in intra brand service
competition . Affirming this theory, the Supreme Court recognized in Continental TV
that, when inter brand competition exists......, it provides a significant check on the
exploitation of inter brand market power because of the ability of consumers to
substitute a different brand of the same product . Mathewson and Winter suggest that
increased consumer demand due to enhanced retail services , elicited through a
protected retail margin, will more than offset a negative impact on demand of a
higher retail price. Thus, RPM allows manufacturer to influence the supply of retail
service by controlling its retailers margins, thereby using retail service as an
instrument of inter brand competition. This
49. Alchemy as the Precursor to Modern Medicine Practices
Chemical medicine originates from medical alchemy of the medieval period. Its
nature was controversial and the acceptance and practice of chemical medicine
caused problems with those who had strong ties with Scholasticism that rooted them
in the Galenic tradition and made them wary of new practices and innovations. The
fact that chemical medicinebecame quite popular thanks to the sixteenth century
Swiss doctor Paracelsus only increased the controversial nature. Paracelsus was well
known for his miraculous cures as well as for rejecting the European medical
organization (De Vos, 2007).
Paula De Vos (2007) wrote an article about the introduction of chemical medicine into
Mexican medical practices during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. She
shares a case of a DoГ±a Michaela de Sierra, whose legs had been paralysed for over
25 years but had been cured with a series of medications that were a combination of
traditional Galenic treatments and chemical medicines. This shift of treatments, from
the purely Galenic preparations to the inclusion of chemical medicines, is validated
by the appearance of contemporary pharmaceutical texts in the late seventeenth and
early eighteenth centuries. The change occurred at the same time to a similar
alteration in Spain. The inauguration of Charles II to the throne started an era of
acceptance to changes in medical practices. This medical development happened later
in Spain and Mexico compared to other European countries

52. Daniel Deronda Essay
Daniel Deronda
Daniel Deronda, the final novel published by George Eliot, was also her most
controversial. Most of Eliot s prior novels dealt largely with provincial English life
but in her final novel Eliot introduced a storyline for which she was both praised
and disparaged. The novel deals not only with the coming of age of Gwendolyn
Harleth, a young English woman, but also with Daniel Deronda s discovery of his
Jewish identity. Through characters like Mirah and Mordecai Cohen, Eliot depicts
Jewish cultural identity in the Victorian period. Reaction to Daniel Deronda exposes
the deeply embedded anti semitism of the period. The story follows the tow main
characters over the course of several years as they struggle with their own ... Show

It was during this time that she began to suffer from the kidney problems that
eventually killed her. She was also plagued by chronic head and tooth aches during
this time (Karl, 545). Despite her physical ailments Eliot meticulously researched
the book. She took Hebrew lessons with Emanuel Deutsch and the character of
Mordecai Cohen is said to be based on him. She also read extensively about Jewish
culture and tradition. In a letter Eliot s would be spouse, George Henry Lewes,
writes that of the two buying Judaic books and visiting a synagogue in Frankfurt in
the summer of 1873 (Karl, 527).
Daniel Deronda was originally published in a series of monthly installments that
appeared in Blackwood s Magazine between February and September of 1876.
Terence Cave notes in his introduction to the Penguin edition of Daniel Deronda,
that the decision to begin in February was based on the inability to get it to the
American market in December and Blackwood s belief that January wasn t a fit
month to publish anything(qtd. in Cave xxii). Eliot was able to stay comfortably
ahead of release dates while writing Deronda seemingly conquering the pressures of
serial publication that she so hated.
The text was then published in 4 bound volumes printed in 1876. In October of 1877
a second printing of the novel contained minor alterations to the
53. The Comedy of Hamlet
The Comedy of Hamlet
Shakespearean plays are often known for their outstanding entertainment and classic
comic conflict. In his masterwork, Hamlet, Shakespeare uses these aspects to serve
his thematic purpose. He has used comedy throughout many of his historic plays, but
in this play, comedy is the drawing point that makes it fun and entertaining, yet clear
and intuitive. Generally, his tragedies are not seen as comical, but in reality, they are
full of humor. However, these comic elements don t simply serve to relieve tension;
they have much significance to the play itself. The characters of Hamlet, Polonius,
Osric, and the Gravediggers, prove to be very influential characters, and throughout
the play, they are the individuals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Osric s role during the play was to enlighten the intensity in the room and use
humor to create a positive atmosphere. As courtier to the king, Osric was not
necessarily one of the most influential characters, but he did play an important role
as a servant and braggart soldier (Draudt, 2002). His character allowed a more
powerful character (Hamlet), to not only make fun of [his] diction, but also
deliberately baffle and confuse [him] and thus expose [his] slow wits (Draudt,
2002). Throughout Act V, Osric isn t usually the one to offer the humor, but the
humor is revolved around him. This type of comedy reflects the meaning of his
social class, and as Hamlet ridicules him, it only weakens his reputation.
Nonetheless, Hamlet uses this humor to poke fun at Osric and is therefore viewed
as comedy. The importance of this action is to show the ignorance of Osric s
character and how easily he can be manipulated by his fellow men and because it
highlights his function in society and his class rank.
In addition to being mocked, Osric also serves as [a] foil to the hero (Hamlet),
contrasting with [his] genuine wit... [and] honesty (Draudt, 2002). As a foil, Osric is
the complete opposite of Hamlet, and that can be seen by the way Hamlet treats
Osric. This reveals to the audience the differences

One can imagine that every country is different with their own set of beliefs. Chile
and Kuwait are in total different parts of the world but they both have similarities. In
Isabel Allende s My Invented Country and Randa Jarrar s A Map of Home the
authors focus on the road map of their childhood. Allende explains the basics of her
culture, while Jarrar does too through the character of Nidali. Both women have
seen and are aware that women do not have the same power as a male. Nidali gets
hit from her father if she does not do well in education. As for Allende, she explains
how men are machistas and the women are submissive. While Nidali is half

The main reason she claims to love Chile is because of the stories her grandfather
would tell her and her experience of travelling in the south (Allende 111). She
explains about the war, and how it impacted the whole country. She was able to
travel and get to experience the differences. In Chile she states how they do not talk
the terms of racism rather they differ themselves according to the class system
(Allende 34). She also states how the upper class in Chile is relatively white. No
matter where one goes in the world it appears as the lighter the skin the more

she is trying to find where home is for her. In contrast with Europe, where long

sexual liberation was being celebrated, Chile was boring; once again I felt like a
foreigner. (Allende 130). The reason she feels like a foreigner and ends up feeling
the way she does was because she got the chance to experience other countries
besides Chile. If the war had not happened and she did not leave Chile at all she
would feel like at home since she would not have any other

Is Cooking Really Freedom?
According to Jim Sollisch s article, cooking is an outlet of expression and is not
limited to one gender (Sollisch, Cooking Is Freedom ). Sollisch communicates of
how his newfound interest and love of cooking came out of an act of rebellion to
allow the enrollment of boys in Home Economics classes (Sollisch, Cooking Is
Freedom ). He effectively uses an informal tone and an abundance of short, simple
sentences appropriate for his audiences of NY Times and blog post readers. His
copious amounts of personal anecdotes provide credibility in the subject. His use of
incomplete sentences and colorful, easy to understand word choice puts him in the
level of the reader establishing a personal connection.
Sollisch s article is found on the New York Timeswebsite in the Private Lives
section on the Opinion Pages. Private Lives is a section for personal essays about
real people s lives and problems they may have encountered. This explains Sollisch
s subject choice and why this is mainly an opinion essay. He starts off with a
personal story of how he first came upon the art of cooking (Sollisch, Cooking Is
Freedom ). He tops off his anecdote with similes such as when he describes the
power cooking gives him as similar to the power some kids feel when they get a
driver s license (Sollisch, Cooking Is Freedom ). Sollisch engages the readers with
this simile because he makes himself very relatable to his intended audience.
