A site mailbox is a central email and document sharing account that is accessed from a SharePoint site. Your team may choose to use a site mailbox to gather relevant team-level email conversations or collaborate on composing an important email message. Your team may also find it helpful to share important documents securely by using a site mailbox.
It can also be used from Outlook 2013 that ships in Office 365 ProPlus or Office Professional Plus for team email, and as a way to quickly store attachments and retrieve documents from the team site.
Many teams have conversations via email messages on a fairly regular basis. Some of those conversations result in information that could be a useful reference somewhere down the line. Rather than losing that information within your own inbox, you can forward the most useful email within the thread to your site mailbox. Everyone who has Contribute permissions to your site will be able to open the site mailbox and view that message. That way, a few months from now when another team member is trying to recall what information went into a particular decision, that team member can open up the site mailbox, search through the mail captured in that account, and see the history of the issue in question.
Another great idea for gathering these team-level email conversations is to simply CC the site mailbox email address when sending an email message to the team. Depending on the type or size of the meeting, you can now decide if you want to mute the audience and allow or block video sharing when scheduling. These options are available on the Meeting Options page and are recommended for Lync Meetings with more than 20 participants. Presenters and organizers can even select and lock video of a designated or specific person in the meeting – essentially putting them in the “video spotlight” as the focus for everyone else in the meeting.
During the meeting, presenters need to focus on their delivery and the participants – and not be distracted with “meeting administration”. Lync now uses “peeks” to provide more functionality with less clutter. Peeks are buttons that are revealed when you hover over certain areas of the Lync Meeting window. For example, hover over the monitor icon to see all of the options for sharing and managing content, hover over the telephone icon to see Mute or Hold options. Hover over the three dots on the right to see more options.

Lync users focus less on how to use the tools and direct their energy to meeting the needs of their business. Meeting view options are designed to bring content and people together while optimizing the Lync Meeting experience for every individual participant’s needs. The meeting view is selected by the participant and visible only to them – each participant has control of their meeting view.
Gallery View shows all the participants’ photos or videos. Speaker View shows the meeting content with the presenter’s video or photo in the lower right corner of the meeting window. Presentation View shows only the meeting content. You get a full view of the content, but you won’t see the participants. Compact View shows only the participants’ photos. Just hover over a photo to see their contact information.

Lync mobile clients enable users to make and receive calls using a single, consistent Lync identity and join Lync Meetings from a mobile device with a single touch while avoiding long numeric passcodes or PINS, from the native calendar application (or Lync Meeting tab on iOS).
In CU4 and Mobile Wave 1, we delivered Lync on the Windows Phone and the iPhone - as well as iPad, Android phones and Symbian. Mobile Wave 1.5 released in June 2012 delivering a PPT viewing experience to Lync users joining a Lync Meeting from their iPad. Lync Windows Store App became available in Oct 2012.
The feature set continues to rapidly evolve in Lync 2013 timeframes with VoIP over wireless (WiFi, 4G, 3G) and video over wireless. Lync voice and video over IP experiences, including peer-to-peer (P2P) and Lync Meetings, will be supported on Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad and Android. Lync 2013 mobile apps for Windows Phone 8 and iOS will be available in early March, with Android coming roughly a month later.

The Lync Web App allows PC and Mac users to join a Lync Meeting from within an HTML5-based browser, and delivers a full Lync Meeting experience, including multiparty HD video, voice over IP, instant messaging, desktop, application, and PowerPoint sharing. LWA eliminates the need to install client software by using a browser-based client to join and participate in Lync Meetings from a shared device or PC, internet café, a personal/ home device or kiosk. External clients, partners and customers can join Lync Meetings with Lync Web App – eliminating the need to download and install the Lync Attendee client previously shipped with Lync 2010.

The contact card is a dynamic resource that displays a contact’s high resolution photo, their presence, status note, location and organizational details and is consistent across Microsoft Office applications. Lync users see their contacts’ availability in real time, chat and quickly move between active conversations and Lync Meetings. When privacy or confidentiality is a concern, users can modify settings to show presence updates only to contacts in the buddy list.
With the contact card, Lync users can bring together information from internal and external networks (e.g. SharePoint, LinkedIn and Facebook) into a single card for each person in the contact list. End users can initiate a call or instant message directly from the contact card based on a user’s presence. Contact management is simpler by enabling users to search and find contacts from the corporate address book and add federated contacts to a single contact list to connect with customers and partners.
The Exchange Contact Store lights up all Office application, including Lync, allowing you to manage contacts from any Office application.

OneNote is now directly integrated into Lync for taking meeting notes and recording attendance. Whiteboard sketches and slide annotations can also be saved into OneNote notebooks. OneNote Share allows users in to create and share OneNote digital meeting notes within a Lync Meeting, reducing errors caused by later transcription and simplifying communication and follow-up. OneNote can be shared in prep for a meeting, during as a resource for content or a tool for note taking and afterwards – as a means of following and reporting status.

With Lync, Information Workers use a single unified client to manage all communications including voice and video calling, multimedia conferencing and instant messaging. A simple instant message can be escalated to a Lync Meeting with video conferencing at any time, from the single unified client. Deep integration with Office apps enables instant communication and collaboration with colleagues, customers and partners - from directly within their most frequently used productivity apps. The communication cycles that are a vital part of everyday business are accelerated by enabling instant messaging, voice and video calling and spontaneous Lync Meetings directly from within Outlook, SharePoint and other business applications.
Lync is part of the Office suite and has best-of-breed integration in the Office family. For example, PowerPoint presentations are shown "natively" in the Lync experience, providing the highest fidelity and performance possible.
