2. Channel 4
Few businesses provide a greater challenge for
brand architects and designers than the ever-
expanding Channel 4 group. What was one channel
in 1982 with a single, iconic and instantly famous
brand is now a large and growing group of
businesses. The question is, how to keep the overall
brand strong, while giving each part of the group a
distinctive feel and identity.
4. Logo development 1
With our first design to channel 4, we started off with just a
black and white hand doing the gestures of the letter ‘C’ and
the number ‘4’. We added a blue splat behind the C to add a
bit of colour. This helps the C stand out more with a bit of
colour involved. With 4, we added a green splat, this also
emphasises and makes the 4 stand out and look bold.
5. Logo development 2
With our second logo development, we kept the original
structure of the logo but we have added some features. For
the ‘C’, we have added green to the zombies arms to add
colour and this also keeps the zombies original and known
form of green. With the ‘4’, we have kept the red as it
resembles blood. We also took another image of dripping
blood adding a more gory affect. We have then placed the
zombie ‘C’ over the bleeding ‘4’ to make it look like it is
grabbing on to the ‘4’ to give it a greater impact on viewers.
6. Logo development 3
Our final and 3rd logo development, we didn’t really
change much, we just added shadows around the ‘C’ and
‘4’. We also changed the tone of red on the ‘C’ to make it
look like the shadow has created the ‘C’. We also added the
shadows to try and add a 3-D effects of the ‘C’ and ‘4’. We
then placed the bottom of the ‘C’ on the side of the ‘4’ to
make it seem they are linked together.
