1. Who would be the audience for your music magazine?
How did you attract/address the audience for your music publication?
The audience for my magazine would be young males/females around the age
of 16 to 19 and are most likely to be Christian. My target audience are most
likely to not have a very high disposable income. I fulfilled my target
audience’s desires by using factors connected to their demographics to attract
them, for example using a male model on my magazine to represent my
gender target audience.
My target audience are also likely to have the psychographics of the reformer
as in they value their own independent judgement, and they would also be
slightly the explorer as in they are often to try out the first to try out new ideas
and experiences, they also respond to brands that offer new sensations,
indulgence and instant effects.
They would be interested in the colours used within the magazine, and as seen
on my magazine front cover and contents page I have used attractive colours
such as red and grey to attract interest. I used the colours red and grey mostly
in my magazine due to the fact that my questionnaire results concluded that
the colours red and grey are the most popular for Rap/Grime magazines’. I
used red and grey consistently to pinpoint my target audience of mostly males
aged around 16 to 19.

2. My target audience would also be interested by the layout used by my magazine for
the front cover and contents page. The layout of my magazine will also attract my
target audience because of how my front cover uses a similar layout to VIBE and AT
magazine which often have the image on the right hand side of the front cover with
the text on the right. Also the layout of the contents page is also likely to be popular
with my target audience due to how it is similar to the KERRANG magazine layout
with the image at the top half of the page with the contents on the bottom half of
the page in columns.
The lures/cover lines read “This is going to be the biggest challenge of my life” and
would apply to my target audience because of how this immediately drags in readers
and makes them want to read the article. I also used artist names and quotes on my
contents page to attract in followers of these artists, for example Mac Miller, Drake
and Eminem readers will want to read their articles. Also this targets my audience
because my audience are very likely to be interested in Rap and Grime artists due to
how mainly more males are interested in rap and grime fulfilling their needs.
Through applying the uses and gratifications theory, my audience would read the
magazine for Diversion due to how it can be used as a form of escape or release
from everyday stress and pressures, for example my target audience are most likely
to be at higher education such as college or university resulting in them needing a
release from the stress such as my magazine double page spread which gives an
insight on my young upcoming artist.
