1. Evaluation of photography
The model is wearing a red superdryhoodie with a red snapback, a chain and headphones.
This is used to represent a young male audience aged around sixteen to nineteen and to
attract my target audience who are also mostly males and some females aged sixteen to
nineteen. I was careful to chose costumes to represent young males by wearing a hoodie,
snapback, chain and headphones which represent young male adults and also convey that
the artist is in the music industry. I am trying to generate the meaning using the youth and
using style to represent young adults aged 16 to 19 because my target audience are very
sensitive about their appearance, which is why I used a hoodie and snapback to represent
youth American style.
Furthermore, the use of props clearly related to teenagers and also relates to music due to
how I used big headphones which many teenagers wear, and they are a good prop to
represent music. I also used a chain which is very common with modern day teenagers and
also very popular within the music industry. Another prop used was my snapback cap which
is another prop which is popular within the teenage life as well as in the music industry. The
modern music industry is a very strong influence on teenage males and females so a lot of
the styles used within music are usually copied and portrayed on the streets. In particular, I
chose to use music related props/colours/costume to suggest that my model is within the
modern music industry. I also tried to use red props/costume because through my
questionnaire results I found out that the two most popular colours chosen by my target
audience of teenagers aged sixteen to nineteen for a rap/grime magazine would be Red and
grey.
2. When thinking about body language and facial expressions, I decided to use a
neutral/slightly smiling facial expression. This is because I wanted to suggest that the artist
is slightly happy but also very calm about the situation. I also needed to consider the facial
expressions for the contents page image, within the Rap/Grime genre most models don’t
show excitement of happiness so I needed quite an angry/neutral facial expression. The
language chosen on the front cover was used to influence teenagers aged around sixteen
to nineteen because teenagers at this age are heavily influenced by young artists.
