He appeals to ideological values through the ‘corporate constitution’, and provides intellectual stimulation for followers through the values such as ‘seize opportunities’, ‘teamwork and trust’, and ‘fear of the status quo’. He inspires followers to rise to new levels of performance by communicating his expectations for leadership ‘with character, competence, and humility’ to achieve ‘nothing less than the best effort’. His display of confidence in himself and in the employees of Alberta Energy Co.
