1.
2. An industrial robot is an autonomous
system of sensors, controllers, and
actuators on an articulated frame that
executes specific functions and
operations in a manufacturing or
processing line. They operate
continuously through repetitive
movement cycles as instructed by a set
of commands called a program. These
machines minimize or eliminate the
human factor to gain various
advantages in processing speed,
capacity, and quality.
3. The so-called axis of an industrial robot is
about available degree of freedom. If the robot
has three degrees of freedom, it can move freely
along the x, y, and z axes, but it cannot tilt or
rotate. When the number of axes of the robot
increases, it is more flexible for the robot.
4. A servomotor is a rotary actuator or linear
actuator that allows for precise control of
angular or linear position, velocity, and
acceleration. It consists of a suitable motor
coupled to a sensor for position feedback. It
also requires a relatively sophisticated
controller, often a dedicated module designed
specifically for use with servomotors.
5. In order to move a servo to a position along its
movement arc, or, in the case of continuous
rotation servos the speed and direction of the
motor, the controller needs to send a precisely
timed signal for the servo to interpret. Typical
hobby servos expect to see a pulse every 20ms,
and the width of this signal determines the
position.
6. Fanuc was founded in 1972 and is based in Oshino,
Japan with its headquarters at the base of the
iconic Mount Fuji. The company specializes in
robotics and other automation equipment,
particularly CNC machines.
The company has an annual revenue of $4.7 billion
and has installed over 750,000 robots worldwide.
You can usually recognize a Fanuc robot by its
bright yellow color.
