Goal of the System:

To Control Lab Environment
(Shades and Screens ) with hand
gestures.
Components Used
Hardware :
• Accelerometer (Smart Phone)
• Positioning System(Ubisense)
Software :
• Smartphone application – PhonePi to acquire
accelerometer readings
• Gesture Record and Recognition algorithm
written in Python environment
• Shell scripts to connect with Middleware,
invoked through Python

Communication among Components
• For Accelerometer reading from Smartphone: Socket
communication between the PhonePi application and the
Python script
• For Position data recording from UbiSense: Telnet
communication between UbiSense and Python script
• Proxy Java objects are interacting with Middleware,
invoking Methods on these objects using Python control
scripts.

  • 2. Goal of the System: 2 To Control Lab Environment (Shades and Screens ) with hand gestures.
  • 3. Components Used Hardware : • Accelerometer (Smart Phone) • Positioning System(Ubisense) Software : • Smartphone application – PhonePi to acquire accelerometer readings • Gesture Record and Recognition algorithm written in Python environment • Shell scripts to connect with Middleware, invoked through Python 3
  • 4. Communication among Components • For Accelerometer reading from Smartphone: Socket communication between the PhonePi application and the Python script • For Position data recording from UbiSense: Telnet communication between UbiSense and Python script • Proxy Java objects are interacting with Middleware, invoking Methods on these objects using Python control scripts.
