This document discusses various biomolecules associated with pregnancy in mammals. It describes interferon-tau, early pregnancy factor, estrone sulfate, chorionic gonadotropins, placental lactogen, and pregnancy-associated glycoproteins. Pregnancy-associated glycoproteins are secreted by binucleate trophoblastic cells and can be detected in maternal blood as early as 3 weeks after conception, making them potential early markers of pregnancy. PAG1 is the most widely studied PAG and diagnostic tests have been developed using purified or recombinant PAG1 protein that can detect pregnancy with over 90% accuracy.

In this study the distribution of binding sites of
Concanavaline A (Con A), Wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), Ulex
europaeus agglutinin (UEA) and Peanut agglutinin (PNA) lectins
conjugated with fluorescence isothiocynate (FITC) with different
specific carbohydrates were studied on cell surface of sperms of
fertile and infertile men to determine whether the surface
characters of the spermatozoa of fertile men differs from that of
infertile men with or without obesity.
A total of 255 infertile and 319 fertile men were involved
in this study between Sep. 2006 and Dec. 2008. The body mass
index (BMI) was measured in all fertile and infertile men. All
semen parameters were assessed in both fertile and infertile men
with or without obesity to identify the values that would
distinguish fertile from infertile men.
The results of this study showed that there is a clear
significant difference between fertile and infertile men with or
without obesity in regard to all semen parameters. On the other
hand, all lectins used in this study were reacted differentially with
the various components of the sperms of fertile and infertile men
with or without obesity. This suggests that the obesity might alter
the cell surface changes of sperms with increasing of BMI.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

11. Chorionic Gonadotropins
In 1927, Aschheim and Zondek first reported the
presence of a gonadotropic factor in the urine of
pregnant women.
Known as human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG),
glycoprotein secreted by the trophoblast.
Based on this, an accurate method of EPD in human was
developed.
hCG is first detectable 8 to 11 days after conception.
In 1930, Cole and Hart demonstrated PMSG, now
known as equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) produced
from the endometrial cups composed of trophoblastic
cells.
Detectable from day 35-40 days of pregnancy.
Such substance does not exist in ruminants, cannot be

The first member of the family was isolated by Butler
et al. (1982) from bovine placenta and was named as
pregnancy specific protein B (PSPB).
Subsequently, related proteins have been identified with
the different names such as PAG1 (Xie et al., 1991;
Zoli et al., 1991), PSP-60 (Mialon et al., 1993), SBU3
(Atkinson et al., 1993) in ruminant ungulates.
These proteins are detectable in maternal blood and
were reported to be useful as prenatal markers for
pregnancy diagnosis and embryonic viability in various
