2. Basic Shots
These were some of our first images taken. As shown they
are not very good and the quality of some of the images
are quite poor. We wanted both of the children Madeline
and Elle to feature on the magazine front cover that is why
the images of them standing next to one another were
taken. Because we wanted to capture their innocence and
purity that is why they are wearing white tops as white
connotes these things. For our poster we then wanted to
have one of the characters as the main image to dominant
the frame; that is why we have taken images of them
singly, we tried not to let them smile as we wanted them
to look as serious as possible.
3. As one of our ideas for our magazine front cover we
wanted to take a picture of the main antagonist looking
in the mirror and then her reflection starring back at her
but her reflection was possessed. But we found that
this was not working and the image quality was very
poor and blurred, the lighting also make the girls look
very orange. Because of the reflection in the mirror we
also found that whoever was taking the images got in
the frame a lot of the time and this was very ineffective
as the audience should not be seeing the crew
members.
Another one of our ideas what to position the
characters in the woods to show of some of the
narrative as the woods is a vital stock location for the
ending of our narrative. We wanted the main antagonist
to look as if she was leading her sister into the woods to
possess her, that is why one child is turning around
looking at the camera as she is the main antagonist, and
the other child is oblivious and is wondering into the
woods. But we felt these images were not very good
either, as the flash made the faces become too pale as
well as the costumes not being very effective and not
suit the scene.
4. For our magazine front cover we wanted the characters to look possessed and scary,
so we tried to take images when both our characters looked possessed and were
pulling scary faces. Because our characters were so young they didn’t quite get the
idea of looking scary and their faces didn’t look realistic or scary enough. We found
it quite hard to capture them looking possessed and we realised that these images
were not very effective and both characters were pulling different faces and were
then at different heights which made the images look obscure. Unfortunately we
also got the background in some of the images such as the plug socket below so we
knew that it would be very unprofessional to use these images.
5. Final
Images
These are our final images and
shots taken. We felt these images
were very effective. At first we had
planned to use Melisa the blonde
girl are Elle our main antagonist; but
we felt Lily's facial expression were
very effective and really captured
the possessed look. We knew
straight away that after editing these
images that they would give us the
quality and professionalism we were
looking for, they fit the brackets we
were looking for.
Again we kept them in the same
white tops to show their innocence
and purity. We also chose the
picture of both of the characters for
the magazine front cover as they
both maintained eye contact with
the camera and their facial
expressions were plain which is
what we needed to edit the image
to become effective. The use of the
blue bow in all of the images used,
carries on the symbiotic link
through our three pieces.
