The Importance Of Personal Income Tax In Texas
I think personal income tax in Texas should not become adopted; I feel it is an immoral thing towards
the state. I am against this because taxing a person from their personal income tax may leave them
with less money to pay their bills with more responsibilities. The personal income tax is paid by
people with the money they earn, and it sounds like a corrupted way of taking away their hard earned
wages. It may feel as though we pay personal income tax, but it is not included in our income tax
system. Many people still have to pay federal income tax, because it revenues them in governing its
share over three federal income taxes like; Social Security, Medicare and Unemployment.
An Interviewer named Robert Higgs asked, Governor John Kasich his

Child Beauty Pageants Child Abuse
Monica Landrum Landrum 1

English 1101
12 January 2014 Title
Although they seem undisputed and lighthearted, child beauty pageants are one of the most
contentious and criticized of all children s activities. While all other types of beauty contests are often
viewed as distasteful, child beauty contests yield an even greater unfavorable response. Many
individuals go as far as critiquing the pageants as being child abuse. Some say the beauty pageants
sexualize the young girls and place unnecessary expectations of beauty at too early of an age.
Contributors argue that the pageants help to build confidence and to teach the girls traits such as
having poise and self control. Child beauty pageants are contests constructed to reward adolescence
for their looks and charisma. There are many different components to every pageant. The children are
often judged on how well they do during their interview, they re judge on their appearance, then on
their talents. The events are set up by age groups, such as 0 to 6, so the criticism is fair. Each age
division winner usually wins a crown or a trophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sociological Imagination Definition
The definition of Sociological Imagination by C. Wright Mills according to the class notes is to think
ourselves away from the familiar routines of our daily lives to look at them anew. This concept allows
us to see connections between individual concerns and larger social issues . Sociological imagination
is our ability to look on our own situations and circumstances in different ways or angles and trying to
see if there s any connection between our personal struggles and the issues of the society. The impact
of the issue is based on biography, history and social structure.
One example of using sociological imagination is going to college. Personally, obtaining an education
is such a very important thing for me. Just like my parents said when I was young, obtaining an
education or a college degree is a personal wealth that no one can take away from you. My family
values education and most of them have college degrees. For me, going to college is a step for me to
accomplish my dreams and aspirations in life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have struggled with being over weight for a few years now and until now it is still a struggle.
According to my BMI, I am considered obese. Obesity is a big social issue and society may think of
obese people differently. People may assume that obesity stemmed out from not exercising and over
eating and being thin or sexy is the norm. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Bell s palsy and was
put on steroid drugs. One of the side effects of steroid drugs is weight gain. My weight gain started
because of the steroid drugs that I took. I was also put on birth control pills due to my irregular menses
and I noticed a big change in my food intake. I was craving for food like crazy. My exercise routine
declined due to my busy work and school schedules. It is still a current struggle for me now, but I am
changing my eating habits and food intake and hope to be active in playing sports

Nanking Massacre And The Nanking Massacre
In 1937, the Chinese city of Nanking was devastated when the Japanese Imperial Army invaded,
killing around 300,000 people . The Japanese soldiers went into people s homes searching for Chinese
soldiers, and killing civilians. These devastating events are known as the Rape of Nanking , or as the
Nanking Massacre. However, the history of atrocities like this are not always taught. Things such as
the Japanese history textbook controversy show how one event can be remembered, or portrayed, in
many different ways. For the most part, history can be skewed for political reasons. For Japan, making
history their own had benefits, and these benefits could help the government keep their people on their
side of things, and it would try to legitimize their own views on their history.
The forming of loyalty and patriotism through selective teachings of the Nanking Massacre has built
tensions between China and Japan that have, and still do, separate two nations.
The history, which is taught correctly in most nations, is horrifying. The Nanking Massacre lasted for
a span of a few months, with Japanese soldiers sparing no man, woman or child. The title Rape of
Nanking is to describe the raping of women, numbering anywhere from 20,000 to 80,000 . Some of
the Chinese captives, some of which were Chinese soldiers, were forced to dig graves for groups of
other captives to be buried alive in, and then would be buried themselves when the next group of
captives dug a new grave .

The Pros And Cons Of GPS Tracking
GPS Tracking Stands on One Level with Data Privacy and Security: Fact or Myth
The term Global Positioning System conjures up images of GPS devices being used in space age
technology and vehicle navigation systems. GPS tracking devices have also become a part of our daily
lives today. However, many people are sceptical about the use of these handy devices. Many people
claim that they will face data privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much of this statement
is true? Do others have access to your information unless and until you share them? It is true that the
person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the concerned individual.
With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen security aspects,
the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. Many families and business owners have
started to trust the system and are applying it in different ways. In fact, these applications have made
its way into animal tracking, farming and even gaming technology. Animal tracking helps in
monitoring endangered species and their behaviour in such way, so they and their habitat can be better
protected. GPS system is being used in games to make them more attractive ... Show more content on

It is another instance of taking the advantage of the location sharing feature of Global Positioning
System. Small GPS tracking devices can be easily carried to the field when a soldier is on duty. They
help in navigating through difficult terrains and have a better understanding of their position.
Moreover, reinforcements can be immediately sent from the base whenever there is urgency. Even as
these GPS tracking devices claim to be secure, there have been instances of data being leaked out to
the opposing forces. As these tracking devices can help locate a fellow soldier they can also give

Importance Of Drug Testing For Professional Athletes
Should All Professional Athletes be Tested For Drugs?
Roger Maris was the first major league baseball player to hit 61 home runs in one season in 1961,
beating Babe Ruth s record of 60 in 1927. Thirty seven years later in 1998, St. Louis Cardinals player
Mark McGwire and Chicago Cubs player Sammy Sosa fought hard to see who could break the
previous record of 61. At the end of Sosa s season, he finished with an extraordinary 66 home runs,
five home runs over the record. However, McGwire finished remarkably with 70 home runs, nine
home runs over the record. Twelve years later in 2010, McGwire revealed that he had used
androstenedione, a common over the counter drug. At the time of the record chase, androstenedione
was still legal in baseball, but in the International Olympic Committee, the NFL, and National
Collegiate Athletic Association, androstenedione was considered illegal and you would be disqualified
or even expelled from the league if it was found in your blood. Today, people still argue whether or
not McGwire should be the record holder. Drug testing for professional athletes should be required
because performance enhancing drugs are unhealthy, they can lead to negative consequences, and they
are not a good influence for children looking up to these athletes.
The first reason that drug testing for professional athletes should be required is that performance
enhancing drugs are unhealthy. Performance enhancing drugs can improve with physical growth,

Components Of A Risk Management Program
Every healthcare organization, no matter how small or specialized, should be aware of its risk
situation and take appropriate measures to protect itself against clinical, financial and operational
exposures. Risk management is the process of minimizing risk to an organization by developing
systems to identify and analyze potential hazards to prevent accidents, injuries, and other adverse
occurrences, and by attempting to handle events and incidents which do occur in such a manner that
their effect and cost are minimized. Effective risk management has its greatest benefits in application
to insurance in order to avert or minimize financial liability (Duckers, Faber, Cruijsberg, Grol,
Schoonhoven, Wensing, 2009).
Components of a Risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communication: To anticipate risk management pitfalls and opportunities, the risk management
professional must be an insider who is provided with information on proposed mergers, acquisitions,
and joint ventures early in due diligence process. Equipped with such information, the risk
management professional is in position to advise senior management on the risk management
implications of various new business arrangements.
Coordination: Risk management professional needs to establish reporting and communication
relationships with key individuals within the organization.
Accountability: Every health care organization s risk management professional, including those in
small institutions that have job duties in addition to risk management, should have a written job
description that outlines key risk management responsibilities. Risk management professionals should
be accountable of their performance.
How the Risk Management Process Can Reduce Organizational Risk. Health risk management
program protects the organization against risk associated with accidental losses, regardless of the loss.
Some of the risks are patient center care related risk, medical staff related risk, employee related risk,
property related risk, financial risk, and others. Risk management process helps the risk management
professional set priorities and assists in ensuring a comprehensive risk management effort. The risk

Case Study Of Ant Colony Optimization
1.6 Ant Colony Optimization: 1.6.1 Introduction The conception of massive Gordian behavior
emerging from the behavior of many relatively simple units, and the dealings with them, is
fundamental to the field of Artificial Intelligence. The growing understanding of such systems offers
the prospect of creating artificial systems which are controlled by such significant shared behavior; in
particular, we believe that the sweating of this concept might lead to entirely new channels for the
pilotage of distributed systems, such as load balancing in telecommunications networks. In such
regimes, requests between any two points typically route through some central switching bureau or
nodes in a big system; there are many future paths for each such call. It is thus viable to emancipate
actual or potential local hurdles by routing requests via parts of the system which have extra capacity.
Load balancing is essentially the creation of call routing schemes which successfully assign the
changing load over the system and curtail lost requests. Of course, it is viable to determine the shortest
routes from every node to every other node of the network. With the help of this mean utilization of
nodes reduces, but this is not necessarily the drift way to avoid node congestion, as this has to do with
how the vivisection of the traffic on the network. Controlling distributed systems through a single
central controller has several repugnancies. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Biological And Biological Weapons
INTRODUCTION:
The evolution of the human race has subsequently seen the evolution of warfare, with the
development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), specifically the introduction of biological and
chemical weapons in war. Such additions to war has caused a shift in the perceptions of war as citizens
band together to convince their governments to avoid war at all costs. Thus, this essay sought to
explore both biological and chemical warfare and their implications on humanity, society and the
environment.
BIOLOGICAL WARFARE:
Biological warfare alternatively referred to as the germ warfare is fundamentally the utilisation of
infectious agents which include viruses, bacteria and fungi with the intent to wipe out and damage
humans, animals and plants as well as biological toxins to signify an act of war. Biological weapons
also known as bio weapons are living organisms that reproduce and duplicate within their victims.
Entomological warfare is also designed as a biological weapon.
Table 1: Summarizes the associated agents, disease, route of infection and possible release for
bacteria, viruses and toxins.
By the 1900s, the scientific revelations in germ theory and bacteriology led to possibilities of their
implementation in war.
The use of diseases and viruses in warfare was sparked by developments in microbiology experiments
(the study of microscopic organisms, including viruses, bacteria, protozoa and fungi), leading to

My Spiritual And Discipleship Condition Essay
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any
wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (KJV Ps. 139:23 24). In this verse, David asks
God to help him search his heart so that he can be closer to God. Without God, the process of self
evaluation is impossible as David states in his psalm. What makes David such a good source for
advice? In the Bible, David is known as a man after God s own heart (1 Sam. 13:14). If David
recognized the importance of self evaluation, then every Christian should continually evaluate
themselves according to God s principles in the Bible. In this paper, I will be examining my spiritual
and discipleship condition in relation to myself, God, and others.
In relation to myself, my biggest weakness would be my fear and anxiety. My biggest fear is change.
In the past, I have had many bad experiences with change. For example, the most traumatic change in
my life was the move from England to South Korea. The leaving behind of friends, culture, and
comfort caused great distress. Another challenge and change was moving from South Korea to
America when my mother became very sick. This change had a very big impact on anxiety as the fear
of losing my mother changed me emotionally. During sixth grade, I went to the middle school and was
bullied. This experience motivated me to become homeschooled. The most recent big change that I
experienced was going to college. Because of my past traumatizing change,

The Dynamic Partnership Of Richard Rodgers And Oscar...
The dynamic partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are often considered to have
fathered of the golden age of musical theater; a distinct and radical departure in musical story telling
that had not previously been conceived. Their first venture, Oklahoma!, was inspired by the 1931
stage play, Green Grow the Lilacs, by Cherokee author, poet, and playwright, Rollie Lynn Riggs.
Despite the success of this musical adaptation, one must consider Oklahoma! in relation to its source
material; although Rodgers and Hammerstein proved to redefine the genre, the eventual product was
radically different from the play on which it was based. The changes made by the duo induce an
entirely different tone, presenting the audience with a whitewashed display, rather than Rigg s
childhood observations of the social, legal and cultural changes that took place in the midst of
Oklahoma s impending statehood. Richard Charles Rodgers was born on June 28th, 1902 in Queens,
New York to respected physician Dr. William Abrahams Rodgers and wife Mamie (née Levy). In his
autobiography, Musical Stages, he confesses that, despite being born into a German Jewish household,
the death of his grandmother marked the end of orthodox Judaism in his family (pg. 4). He continues,
From that time on, my parents, my brother, and I were Jewish for socioethnic reasons rather than
because of any deep religious conviction (pg. 4). Though Rodgers formal training of the piano began

The Patriarchal Male Discourse
Offred s technique of revealing the patriarchal male discourse is by describing Gilead using the
language and truth of the new regime. The issue at hand here is whether this truth is portrayed from a
solely critical standpoint. I would argue that Offred is aware of a different truth but presents it in a
way that creates a hesitancy of whether she has been affected by the Gilead truth . In other words, it is
unclear whether Gilead s discourse has led her to view its values as somewhat acceptable. An example
of this is when she is at the doctor s to test her fertility since her function as a Handmaid is merely to
conceive a child. The doctor offers to impregnate her himself as her commander might be sterile. This
is forbidden but the risk of getting caught is minimal. Despite this she hesitates: [ I could help you , he

Transformational Journey In The Alchemist
What is a goal? A goal is something you try to achieve in your everyday life. In The Alchemist Paul
Coelho writes about a boy named Santiago who strives and follows his goals in finding his hidden
treasure, but along the way he discovers that the word treasure may have more than one meaning. In
The alchemist the book uses the symbols of sheep, dessert, alchemy, and treasure to explore the theme
that people must follow their own dreams and overcome obstacles in order to achieve there goals and
gain wisdom.
In the first half of the novel the author uses the symbol of the sheep to show that people live their lives
the same way everyday, like Santiago did when he was a shepherd. This helps symbolizes that people
need to take a break from living the same way everyday, and start living. For example, in the Book

around us becomes better too. (159) To sum up this Quote explains that when you take the time to
grow it transforms us into a better person. Finally, the symbol of treasure represents the wisdom
Santiago gained along his quest to find the treasure. An example to prove this is I can always go back
to being a shepherd, the boy thought. I learned how to care for my sheep, and I haven t forgotten how
that s done. But maybe I ll never have another chance to get to the Pyramids in Egypt. (66) This quote

State A Claim For Tortious Interference With A Prospective...
To state a claim for tortious interference with a prospective business advantage under Maryland law, a
plaintiff must allege: 1. intentional and willful acts; 2. calculated to cause damage to the plaintiff in
her lawful business; 3. done with the unlawful purpose to cause such damage and loss, without right or
justifiable cause on the part of the defendants (which constitutes malice); and 4. actual damage and
loss resulting. Carter v. Aramark Sports Entm t Servs., Inc., 153 Md. App. 210, 240 (2003). Therefore,
an essential element of a claim for tortious interference with a prospective business advantage is that
the defendant committed the act with an unlawful purpose which constitutes malice. Eastside Vend

government can do it. It also defines government structures proposing different bodies and agencies an

The Insanity Of Insanity
The mind is what drives every living creature. The brian tells us everything we need to know in order
to survive as a species. It is the most crucial aspect of what we are. Humans have the most complex
and intelligent brain out of the entire animal kingdom. The individual spirit of a human is determined
by chemicals in the brain and the interaction between them and their surroundings. So what happens
when our brain does not function correctly? What happens to the person with the ailments and what
happens to those around them as a result of it? In both books at least one character demonstrates
insanity. While the books do not specifically state that other characters have mental instability, there
are many reasons to believe that some do. Helen and Ginnie are the two characters who show explicit
insanity. Helen kills herself and leaves her two daughters in the care of their grandmother. Ginnie has
suffered from mental illness for what appears to be most of her life and ends her life in a dementia
ward. Human instinct is to survive, pass down genetics and protect your offspring. We as a species all
feel this drive and when it is put aside, ignored or acted against it is a clear sign of insanity. Helen
stone had experienced so much in her life that she could not handle reality and decided that suicide
was the best alternative. This is our brain s last resort to a problem. To think that oblivion and ending
it all is superior to living. Ginnie always showed signs

The Ku Klux Klan (KK)
The Ku Klux Klan( K.K.K.) is a domestic terrorist organization established during the Reconstruction
era. Slavery was no longer a legal business during this time period but freedom was hardly available
to millions of newly freed blacks. The membership of the hate group was dominated by lawmakers,
more specifically republicans from Pulaski, Tennessee. White men and women dressed in white robes
and cone shaped masks and often rallied at night to terrorize black communities. The mindsets of Klan
members were centered on black and white no metaphor. They felt that the white race was superior
and blacks were inferior. In the southern states black people were being murdered and terrorized by
the thousands and because the Klan had direct influences with the local police forces, judges, and
medical professionals, there was no justice for black victims.
The American government has a greater concern with combatting foreign terrorism than it does with
combatting domestic terrorist groups such as the KKK. Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi Arabian
Muslim extremist, who orchestrated multiple well planned attacks against America on September 11,

Religion and State have historically battled over value of importance. For centuries, laws have been
set forth to further the separation between the two. While good intentions were utilized in the creation
of these statutes, it is challenging to shift the mindset of civilians who have worshiped religion above
the state their entire lives. In the play, Antigone, Sophocles dramatizes the division between divine law
and human law. Antigone personifies religion and the law of the gods, while Creon exemplifies human
law. Inevitably, the disputes between the two ultimately result in the characters tragic fates. Sophocles
uses a variety of literary techniques to strengthen the theme and central conflict of religion versus law.
In Ancient Greek times, religion was known to play a direct and personal role in the lives of citizens.
The concept of the body in Greek culture was celebrated to meet the demands of the gods, and the
Ancient Greeks considered the physical body as something to be tended to. Without a proper burial, it
was understood that the body of the deceased would be doomed to wander the Underworld in an
eternal state of unrest. The importance of family, as stressed through religion, is exemplified when
Antigone becomes distraught over the fact that King Creon has outlawed the proper burial of her older

The health vocation that was chosen was a double degree in Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor

to work with people and babies. This is the main contributor to the choosing of the course but also just

Interview With A Dentist
Introduction Dentistry is concerned with the health problems that relate to teeth, mouth, and the gums;
it deals with correction and care of dental diseases. These aspects define the work of a dentist which
relates to that of other healthcare providers such as physicians and nurses. Dentists are involved in
diagnosing and treatment of mouth tissue problems. In addition, they contribute to preventive care;
they advise the patients on how to ensure good oral hygiene, instruct them on the tight diet and the
best ways to brush their teeth. They also perform surgeries on the gums and supporting bones. In
summary, the activities of a dentist include an examination of patients teeth, filling cavities, repair of
teeth that are fractured and removal of decayed teeth. Indeed, oral health contributes to the general
well being of an individual, and thus, dentists play an integral role in the delivery of health care.

Career Goals For My Career
Growing up, there were several different career paths I wanted to take but was not reachable at the
time. Throughout my high school my career goal was to be a civil or mechanical engineer. At the time,
it wasn t clear to me what an engineer s job function is. My family urged me to pursue that dream just
because of the perks that comes with it such as money. Math was never my strong suit, neither was
school and to become an engineer, several mathematics courses are required. My first two years as a
transfer student in college, I had no idea what my career path should be if engineering doesn t work
out. After taking careful consideration, working in the tech industry was something that needed to be
done. A few friends of mine gently pushed me in that direction, but my vision to pursue a career in
tech was a bit fuzzy. Eventually I started leaning towards business, but by then it was already too late
for me to switch majors. I chose Sociology as my major because I found the courses interesting to
learn, and it is something I can apply to business. Earlier this semester, I decided to push towards
specific fields such as sales or human resources. Eventually, I do see myself in a leadership position at
work such as a management position in my workplace. I do believe I have what it takes to become a
manager, but only after being with a company for some time so I can understand the concepts and how
to adapt to the given environment.

Analyzing Soderbergh s Traffic
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Films are arguably the most synthetic medium for storytelling, combining music, visual design,
dialogue, performance, and plot into one package. Each one of these elements might be considered a
platform with which to create a narrative, but it is the combination of individual components that
ultimately separates the great movies from the merely mediocre.
Cinema is frequently watched by the populace of all ages and genders but the color symbolism of the
visual aspect is rarely paid attention to.
The Director of a film, working closely with the Director of Photography creates a color palette, based
on the genre and mood of the film. Viewers can correctly judge the genre of the film, looking at just its

Alex Garland released his directorial debut, Ex Machina. Aside from receiving widespread praise for

The Potential Market Opportunities For Lagunitas Brewing...
The potential market opportunities for Lagunitas Brewing Company (LBC) are:
1. Growth of craft brewed beer market The craft brewing segment of the beer industry has experience
fluctuations in demand from a high of 58% growth in 1995 to a decline of 5% annually from 1997 to
2003 (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). However, it is now experiencing rapid growth. At the
commencement of 2012, 6.5% of U.S. beer sales were generated by craft brewers and that number
increased by 15% by the conclusion of the year (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). The growth of the
market presents LBC with an opportunity to generate additional revenue.
2. Utilize additional forms of marketing Word of mouth and quality products are the basis of
Lagunitas Brewing Company s marketing approach (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). The company also
sponsors touring bands by providing beer and gasoline and donates its beer to festivals and events
primarily involving music (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 97 99). However, it does not employ traditional
marketing, minimal pricing incentives, and push marketing techniques (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99).
While the company had revenue growth of 46% in 2010 and 60% in the first two quarters of 2011
using this strategy, other marketing techniques such as advertising or digital marketing for example,
can provide LBC the opportunity to increase brand awareness. In the case of digital marketing, the

It should not be legal for pharmaceutical companies to target specific physicians, mainly those who
lack knowledge of the drug that company is trying to sell, and attempt to sell them a drug without
giving the full list of benefits and disadvantages of the drug no matter how large or small. The FDA
should also be able to make RiskMAPs mandatory for all drugs and should be able to request it at any
time. They should be able to step in and take a drug off the market at any given time if they see fit.
Finally, pharmacists should be attentive to all their surroundings while on the job. One of the most
important qualities a pharmacist can have and that employers should look for is the ability to
multitask. If a pharmacist is unable to detect a forged prescription or signs of an addict it can be
detrimental, not only to the person attempting to purchase the drug, but to society as a whole. Opiate
drugs were created to help people in legitimate pain, but due to the three factors previously stated,
they have been used non medicinally and caused the drug addiction and overdose rates to increase.
Although the benefits of these drugs are significant and unprecedented, the hazards are far greater and

Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay
Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can
communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile
devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission
range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should
be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic
nature. For routing of information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through
intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network
performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues
in MANET.
Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue.
INTRODUCTION
Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All the
nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as per the
requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single hop and
those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach destination
Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network
Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through
intermediate nodes.

  • 2. The Importance Of Personal Income Tax In Texas I think personal income tax in Texas should not become adopted; I feel it is an immoral thing towards the state. I am against this because taxing a person from their personal income tax may leave them with less money to pay their bills with more responsibilities. The personal income tax is paid by people with the money they earn, and it sounds like a corrupted way of taking away their hard earned wages. It may feel as though we pay personal income tax, but it is not included in our income tax system. Many people still have to pay federal income tax, because it revenues them in governing its share over three federal income taxes like; Social Security, Medicare and Unemployment. An Interviewer named Robert Higgs asked, Governor John Kasich his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Child Beauty Pageants Child Abuse Monica Landrum Landrum 1 Mrs. Wilkie English 1101 12 January 2014 Title Although they seem undisputed and lighthearted, child beauty pageants are one of the most contentious and criticized of all children s activities. While all other types of beauty contests are often viewed as distasteful, child beauty contests yield an even greater unfavorable response. Many individuals go as far as critiquing the pageants as being child abuse. Some say the beauty pageants sexualize the young girls and place unnecessary expectations of beauty at too early of an age. Contributors argue that the pageants help to build confidence and to teach the girls traits such as having poise and self control. Child beauty pageants are contests constructed to reward adolescence for their looks and charisma. There are many different components to every pageant. The children are often judged on how well they do during their interview, they re judge on their appearance, then on their talents. The events are set up by age groups, such as 0 to 6, so the criticism is fair. Each age division winner usually wins a crown or a trophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Sociological Imagination Definition The definition of Sociological Imagination by C. Wright Mills according to the class notes is to think ourselves away from the familiar routines of our daily lives to look at them anew. This concept allows us to see connections between individual concerns and larger social issues . Sociological imagination is our ability to look on our own situations and circumstances in different ways or angles and trying to see if there s any connection between our personal struggles and the issues of the society. The impact of the issue is based on biography, history and social structure. One example of using sociological imagination is going to college. Personally, obtaining an education is such a very important thing for me. Just like my parents said when I was young, obtaining an education or a college degree is a personal wealth that no one can take away from you. My family values education and most of them have college degrees. For me, going to college is a step for me to accomplish my dreams and aspirations in life. ... A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Bell s palsy and was put on steroid drugs. One of the side effects of steroid drugs is weight gain. My weight gain started because of the steroid drugs that I took. I was also put on birth control pills due to my irregular menses and I noticed a big change in my food intake. • 5. Nanking Massacre And The Nanking Massacre In 1937, the Chinese city of Nanking was devastated when the Japanese Imperial Army invaded, killing around 300,000 people . The Japanese soldiers went into people s homes searching for Chinese soldiers, and killing civilians. These devastating events are known as the Rape of Nanking , or as the Nanking Massacre. However, the history of atrocities like this are not always taught. Things such as the Japanese history textbook controversy show how one event can be remembered, or portrayed, in many different ways. For the most part, history can be skewed for political reasons. For Japan, making history their own had benefits, and these benefits could help the government keep their people on their side of things, and it would try to legitimize their own views on their history. The forming of loyalty and patriotism through selective teachings of the Nanking Massacre has built tensions between China and Japan that have, and still do, separate two nations. The history, which is taught correctly in most nations, is horrifying. The Nanking Massacre lasted for a span of a few months, with Japanese soldiers sparing no man, woman or child. The title Rape of Nanking is to describe the raping of women, numbering anywhere from 20,000 to 80,000 . Some of the Chinese captives, some of which were Chinese soldiers, were forced to dig graves for groups of other captives to be buried alive in, and then would be buried themselves when the next group of captives dug a new grave . The Pros And Cons Of GPS Tracking GPS Tracking Stands on One Level with Data Privacy and Security: Fact or Myth The term Global Positioning System conjures up images of GPS devices being used in space age technology and vehicle navigation systems. GPS tracking devices have also become a part of our daily lives today. However, many people are sceptical about the use of these handy devices. Many people claim that they will face data privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much of this statement is true? Do others have access to your information unless and until you share them? It is true that the person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the concerned individual. With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen security aspects, the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. Many families and business owners have started to trust the system and are applying it in different ways. In fact, these applications have made its way into animal tracking, farming and even gaming technology. Roger Maris was the first major league baseball player to hit 61 home runs in one season in 1961, beating Babe Ruth s record of 60 in 1927. Thirty seven years later in 1998, St. Louis Cardinals player Mark McGwire and Chicago Cubs player Sammy Sosa fought hard to see who could break the previous record of 61. At the end of Sosa s season, he finished with an extraordinary 66 home runs, five home runs over the record. However, McGwire finished remarkably with 70 home runs, nine home runs over the record. Twelve years later in 2010, McGwire revealed that he had used androstenedione, a common over the counter drug. At the time of the record chase, androstenedione was still legal in baseball, but in the International Olympic Committee, the NFL, and National Collegiate Athletic Association, androstenedione was considered illegal and you would be disqualified or even expelled from the league if it was found in your blood. Today, people still argue whether or not McGwire should be the record holder. Drug testing for professional athletes should be required because performance enhancing drugs are unhealthy, they can lead to negative consequences, and they are not a good influence for children looking up to these athletes. The growing understanding of such systems offers the prospect of creating artificial systems which are controlled by such significant shared behavior; in particular, we believe that the sweating of this concept might lead to entirely new channels for the pilotage of distributed systems, such as load balancing in telecommunications networks. In such regimes, requests between any two points typically route through some central switching bureau or nodes in a big system; there are many future paths for each such call. It is thus viable to emancipate actual or potential local hurdles by routing requests via parts of the system which have extra capacity. Load balancing is essentially the creation of call routing schemes which successfully assign the changing load over the system and curtail lost requests. Of course, it is viable to determine the shortest routes from every node to every other node of the network. • 11. My Spiritual And Discipleship Condition Essay Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (KJV Ps. 139:23 24). In this verse, David asks God to help him search his heart so that he can be closer to God. Without God, the process of self evaluation is impossible as David states in his psalm. What makes David such a good source for advice? In the Bible, David is known as a man after God s own heart (1 Sam. 13:14). If David recognized the importance of self evaluation, then every Christian should continually evaluate themselves according to God s principles in the Bible. In this paper, I will be examining my spiritual and discipleship condition in relation to myself, God, and others. In relation to myself, my biggest weakness would be my fear and anxiety. My biggest fear is change. In the past, I have had many bad experiences with change. For example, the most traumatic change in my life was the move from England to South Korea. The leaving behind of friends, culture, and comfort caused great distress. Another challenge and change was moving from South Korea to America when my mother became very sick. This change had a very big impact on anxiety as the fear of losing my mother changed me emotionally. During sixth grade, I went to the middle school and was bullied. This experience motivated me to become homeschooled. The most recent big change that I experienced was going to college. Because of my past traumatizing change, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Dynamic Partnership Of Richard Rodgers And Oscar... The dynamic partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are often considered to have fathered of the golden age of musical theater; a distinct and radical departure in musical story telling that had not previously been conceived. Their first venture, Oklahoma!, was inspired by the 1931 stage play, Green Grow the Lilacs, by Cherokee author, poet, and playwright, Rollie Lynn Riggs. Despite the success of this musical adaptation, one must consider Oklahoma! in relation to its source material; although Rodgers and Hammerstein proved to redefine the genre, the eventual product was radically different from the play on which it was based. The changes made by the duo induce an entirely different tone, presenting the audience with a whitewashed display, rather than Rigg s childhood observations of the social, legal and cultural changes that took place in the midst of Oklahoma s impending statehood. Richard Charles Rodgers was born on June 28th, 1902 in Queens, New York to respected physician Dr. William Abrahams Rodgers and wife Mamie (née Levy). In his autobiography, Musical Stages, he confesses that, despite being born into a German Jewish household, the death of his grandmother marked the end of orthodox Judaism in his family (pg. 4). The issue at hand here is whether this truth is portrayed from a solely critical standpoint. I would argue that Offred is aware of a different truth but presents it in a way that creates a hesitancy of whether she has been affected by the Gilead truth . In other words, it is unclear whether Gilead s discourse has led her to view its values as somewhat acceptable. In The alchemist the book uses the symbols of sheep, dessert, alchemy, and treasure to explore the theme that people must follow their own dreams and overcome obstacles in order to achieve there goals and gain wisdom. • 21. The Insanity Of Insanity The mind is what drives every living creature. The brian tells us everything we need to know in order to survive as a species. It is the most crucial aspect of what we are. Humans have the most complex and intelligent brain out of the entire animal kingdom. The individual spirit of a human is determined by chemicals in the brain and the interaction between them and their surroundings. So what happens when our brain does not function correctly? What happens to the person with the ailments and what happens to those around them as a result of it? In both books at least one character demonstrates insanity. While the books do not specifically state that other characters have mental instability, there are many reasons to believe that some do. Helen and Ginnie are the two characters who show explicit insanity. Helen kills herself and leaves her two daughters in the care of their grandmother. Ginnie has suffered from mental illness for what appears to be most of her life and ends her life in a dementia ward. Human instinct is to survive, pass down genetics and protect your offspring. We as a species all feel this drive and when it is put aside, ignored or acted against it is a clear sign of insanity. Human Law English A, Literature ― HL Written Assignment Divine Law vs. Human Law West Islip High School Léna Seltzer 003996 0069 May 2017 1472 Words Religion and State have historically battled over value of importance. For centuries, laws have been set forth to further the separation between the two. While good intentions were utilized in the creation of these statutes, it is challenging to shift the mindset of civilians who have worshiped religion above the state their entire lives. In the play, Antigone, Sophocles dramatizes the division between divine law and human law. Antigone personifies religion and the law of the gods, while Creon exemplifies human law. Inevitably, the disputes between the two ultimately result in the characters tragic fates. Sophocles uses a variety of literary techniques to strengthen the theme and central conflict of religion versus law. In Ancient Greek times, religion was known to play a direct and personal role in the lives of citizens. The concept of the body in Greek culture was celebrated to meet the demands of the gods, and the Ancient Greeks considered the physical body as something to be tended to. Without a proper burial, it was understood that the body of the deceased would be doomed to wander the Underworld in an eternal state of unrest. Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic nature. For routing of information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues in MANET. Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue.
