2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Children at the age of 6 need at least 1200-1400 calories each day of healthy and nutritious foods, which are there to help support their growing bodies,
However, Fun fact. Sugary foods and fatty foods can result in you getting no calories at all because these foods are classified as foods with empty calories.
And we wouldn’t know how much your sugary and fatty food your child consume thus, if your child was to consumer empty calories, they should consume no more than 120 calories a day.
Protein helps a child's body build cells, break down food into energy, fight infection, and carry oxygen.
Carbohydrates are actually the body's most important source of energy
They help a child's body to use fat and protein for building and repairing tissue. Carbohydrates come in several different forms (sugars, starches, and fiber), but kids should be eating more of the starches and fibers and less of the sugar
Fats are a great source of energy for kids and are easily stored in a child's body. They are also important in helping the body to properly use some of the other nutrients it needs.
there was no home-cooked food as both parents were working and 27 (42%) of them said it was more convenient for them to eat out, as they do not need to cook and wash up themselves.
