Simple – Use..
 Use the Past continuous and the Past
simple to say what was happening when
something else happened.
 The action in the Past simple interrupts the
action in the Past continuous.
 Use when to join the two actions.
I was riding my bicycle when I fell.
I was riding my bicycle when I fell.

ATTENTION! You can change the
order of the two parts
of the sentence:
 I was sleeping when you phoned.
OR
 When you phoned, I was sleeping.
If you start with the When clause, use a
comma.
