2. SkyPower Builds Canada’s First Utility Scale Solar Project
SkyPower is the leading developer of solar energy projects in Canada with an extensive
pipeline at various stages of development representing hundreds of MW of potential
nameplate capacity.
• SkyPower prospects, develops, manages, finances, builds, owns and operates solar energy
projects from initial discovery stages through to commercial operation.
• In November 2009, the CIM Group acquired SkyPower’s solar development assets from the
Lehman Brothers Estate
• SkyPower continues to develop and grow its extensive solar development portfolio in Ontario
Arizona and Israel.
Developed & Built Canada’s first fully operational solar farm – First Light 1 (9.1 MW)

• Summer months have peak demand with air conditioner
loading.
• Ontario needs more renewable energy to meet our 2025
targets.
• We need alternative ways to generate electricity that help
offset peak demand while improving air quality.

7. The Benefits of Solar
• Solar energy is clean, renewable, quiet,

• A 10 MW solar project will displace
approximately 10,000 tons of CO2
equivalents a year.

8. How Photovoltaics Work
1. Sunlight contacts the solar photovoltaic (PV) panel.
2. The electrons in the cells move about, creating direct current (DC) electricity.
3. DC energy is converted into alternating current (AC) electricity using an inverter.
4. AC electricity is supplied to the power grid.
5. Electricity is distributed for use in local homes and businesses.

9. First Light 1
First Light is Canada’s first fully operational solar project.
Joint Venture Partners SkyPower and SunEdison activated First Light on
September 28, 2009.
• 9.1 MW nameplate capacity
• Located on 90 acres of land in Stone Mills, Ontario
• Will generate enough electricity to power almost 1,000 homes
• Displaces almost 8,000 metric tons of CO2 (equivalent of 1,800 cars)

10. Norfolk, Ontario SunE Sky Park I & Park II
Joint Venture Partners SkyPower and SunEdison Started Construction
on Two Additional Utility Scale Solar Projects on March 25, 2010.
• Together they are expected to generate over 19 million KWh in their first
year of operation and almost 400 million kWh after 20 years.
• Enough electricity to power 33,000 homes and cut over 250 thousand
metric tons of CO2 emissions from the environment.
