PV thermal systems combine solar photovoltaics and solar air heating into a single footprint, allowing buildings to generate both electricity and heat from solar energy. SolarWall is an unglazed solar air heater that preheats ventilation air for commercial and industrial buildings. Testing shows that mounting PV panels above a SolarWall can increase total solar energy generation by cooling the PV panels and capturing otherwise wasted heat. PV thermal systems maximize the energy production from a roof by generating both electricity and thermal energy.
Proper ventilation in one of the primary requirements of any domestic or commercial buildings. The conventional method employs usage of air conditioning or air cooling systems which requires high power consumption. The solar driven ventilation systems can be used in buildings which doesn’t require any external power. The current research reviews various researches conducted in improving system of passive ventilation along use of phase change material as energy storage system. Passive design of buildings does not use the electrical and mechanical systems in providing comfortable indoor environment. The presentation is intended to give an insight into the overall project and the technical challenges associated with the £3.7million electrical and lighting refurbishment contract at Erskine Bridge:
As an introduction Louis will provide some background into the project and justification for the decision to go ahead with the LED replacement and inclusion of the CMS system.
He will then highlight some of the technical challenges which had to be addressed, the solutions which were developed, and explain the reasoning behind some of the decisions taken. This will include elements of the DSEAR Regulations and the need to consider the internal bridge structure as a hazardous area. He will also discuss elements of the buildability issues which were encountered and the development of bespoke products (column baseplates, Aircraft Navigation Lights etc.) which had to integrate with the existing bridge structure and the importance of consideration of safe methods of working at the design and planning stage, and the benefits of implementing these methods when it came to construction stage.
Louis will then describe and discuss the various elements of the construction and handover phases, leading to successful completion of the project.

Identifying Challenges and Solutions in Electric Ladle PreheatingLeonardo ENERGY
Foundries use ladles to transfer molten metal from the melt operation to cast operation. Currently, gas and oil firing are the most common method of drying and heating of refractory lined ladles, tundishes, soaking pits and various furnaces in steel mills and other small and big foundries. Convective heating for heating the refractory linings can be achieved by using dedicated burner setups for ladles and tundishes. However, this method has very low efficiency, in the order of 5-25%. Alternatively, electric ladle pre-heating offers many advantages over the current methods. In this webcast, the current practices used in foundries for pre-heating ladles, some of the disadvantages of the current practices, and few potential solutions to improve efficiency of this process will be covered.

Maximizing Power Production for Small Commercial Projectsallearthrenewables
For any project, return on investment is key, but this is especially true for small commercial projects, where getting the most bang for your buck is essential. The key is reframing your thinking: it’s not just about traditional measures of cost like dollar per watt. Thinking about production capacity, and your dollar per kilowatt-hour, will yield a much better picture of how your project will return–and how you can meet your bottom line.
In this webinar, we’ll take you through the key steps for maximizing your power production in small commercial projects, including choosing panels that will give you more power for your money, how to site effectively to ensure you’re capturing as much sunlight as possible throughout the day, and thinking beyond fixed-mount systems to systems that follow the sun to increase your production by up to 40%.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
