Positive Thinking
Do you feel sad when you get low grades?
What do you do when you receive a negative
comment?
I Can Do Better
Dave wants to join their school’s basketball team. However,
he came home crying.
Mother: Son, what happened?
Dave: I did not qualify for our school’s basketball team.
Mother: It is okay to be sad. But do not be sad too long because
there will be other opportunities for you. What do I always tell you?
Dave: I can always do better.
Mother: And?
Dave: Try again tomorrow.
Mother: That is right. Go change your clothes. I will prepare a
snack for you.
Dave: Thanks, Mom.
(A day after, Dave arrived home teary eyed.)
Mother: How was your day?
Dave: I got low grades in our math quiz today, Mom.
Mother: What did Mom always tell you?
Dave: I can always do better.
Mother: What else did I tell you?
Dave: Try again tomorrow.
Mother: Come on, let us eat merienda.
Dave: Thanks, Mom.
Mother: Do not worry. I will help you study later.
Dave continued to practice playing basketball every
weekend. He also put in extra effort to study math.
At the end of the school year, Dave was awarded
“Best in Math”. In April, he joined the tryout and became
part of the team. He was very thankful that he listened to
his mom. He worked hard and never lost hope.
Positive thinking is having hope that you will
succeed in whatever you are doing. By not giving up,
you are more motivated to do your best. You will try
to find ways of improving yourself and your talents
and abilities.
You may commit mistakes but you know that this
is expected. What is important is that you do not stop
until you get it right.
We should also not lose hope. God will always be
there to guide and help us.
