“We’re Not in Kansas Anymore”
Study Guide Assignment
You may or may not be happy with yourgrade in Social Studies. If you are, you must strive to maintain that
score on the second unit exam. If you are not, now is a great opportunity to improve upon it.
Remember what I have to do in order to make your study guides: I had to take detailed notes that included all
of the important material covered in the unit so I could put togethera comprehensive list of questions that
would help you study for the exam. I had to write questions each night instead of waiting until the very end of
the unit. Now imagine: If you become the one to create these study guides instead ofme, you will be the one
fighting—and defeating—the two-headed monster I fought for you in the first unit.
Therefore, your assignment is to create your own study guides for each week of the second
unit as if you were me and planning to hand them out to your classmates. In order for your study
guides to be effective, they must include all of the essentialcontent of the week including material from each
day and each activity. They must also be written in a clear manner so anyone in the class can read and
understand what you are asking.
Each weekly study guide should include between 8-12 questions and should follow a similar format to that of
the study guides you already received. Unlike previous study guides, however, you should also include the
correct answers to your questions, as this will insure you are putting forth your 5-10 minutes each night.
Study guides will be due at the beginning of class each Friday of the second unit, beginning
on Friday, January 23rd.
Are you paying attention and participating? Are you taking quality notes? Prove you
can survive outside the Alternative Education Room that “babied” you so much.
As always, I am here to help you if you have any questions throughout the unit.
Weekly points for this assignment will be based on the rubric below.
