Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. What do you use when you brush your teeth?
Do you use a glass or do you let water run from
the faucet? Which do you think saves water?
3. What does “conserve” mean? It
means the efficient use of something to
avoid wasting or destroying it.
4. Do you know how to conserve water?
Water is one of our basic needs.
There are many ways to conserve water.
5. Let Us Conserve Water
We are often asked to conserve water. This is because
water is a very important resource. Without it, many living
things will suffer. Changing some of the ways we do things can
help us conserve water. For example, we can conserve
water while brushing our teeth by using a drinking glass
instead of letting water run from the faucet.
6. Another way we can conserve water is by using
the dipper or tabo when taking a bath instead of
using the shower.
7. Our parents and teachers explain to us the importance of
conserving water. They tell us what will happen if we run out
of clean water.
In school, our teachers discuss how important water to
everyone. All living things need water to survive.
This is why we are encouraged to do our part. Let us be
more responsible. Help conserve water. Let us learn to use it
wisely.
8. Water is a very important resource. We should help
conserve it. It is best that we always remember the following:
• Even animals and plants need water in order to live.
• Since ¾ of our body is made- up of water, we need clean
water to drink in order to live.
• Water is one of God’s gifts to us. We should use it wisely.
• It is always good to be concerned about our environment.
• We must learn to appreciate all the things that we have.
