Rear Window, Miss Lonelyheart
While Jeff is the protagonist and their are many women in Rear Window, Miss Lonelyheart ,
Stella, and Lisa play a key role in developing Jeff as a person and solving the mystery.
Miss lonelyheart, who is played by actress Judith Evelyn, is a interesting and important sub
character that helps Jeff understand the possible consequences of his voyeuristic habits. For
example, we see a nighttime set with Jeff and Lisa enjoying a chilled glass of wine. Jeff is
looking out the window and is watching Miss. Lonelyheart intently as she is preparing a meal
for two; one for herself and the second for a former love. Jeff sips his wine with her from across the
courtyard and watches as she breaks down in tears. Miss Lonelyheart, shows Jeff that as Stella ...

Stella plays a articulate role as a mother character and also as a prophet. When she first arrives
she portrays a very forward women bossing Jeff around like a mother might to their grown son.
One of my favorite examples of her character is when she says to Jeff in discussion about Lisa, I
can hear you now: Get out of my life, you wonderful woman. You re too good for me . More
interestingly, Stella acts as a prophet to what will happen in the film. She says multiple times that
she can Smell trouble in the apartment as she notices Jeff voristic habits. From a shot prospective,
author John Belton points out an interesting fact about Stella visual role to show she know more
about what is about to happen, ...narrative perspectives, such as those of Stella, Lisa, and Doyle,
which initially differ from Jeff s in their refusal to believe him, ultimately give way to his
perceptions, in large part because these characters are forced to share his spatial position, to see
events from the single perspective which is his own. For Jeff, trapped at a fixed station point, there
is only one possible way of interpreting what he has heard and seen; his stubborn and herence to his
reading of events is partially understood in terms of his immobilization in space, which prohibits
him, unlike the other characters, from gaining other

The Theme Of Death In Othello and A Doll s House Essay...
The theme of death is present in many works of literature. It is given metaphors and cloaked with
different meanings, yet it always represents an end. Every end signifies a new beginning, and every
death gives rise to a new birth. Physical death ...is mere transformation, not destruction, writes Ding
Ming Dao. What dies is merely the identity, the identification of a collection of parts that we called
a person. What dies is only our human meaning (49). Figuratively speaking, deathsymbolizes a
change, an interruption or cessation of regular routine. In this sense, death can be viewed as a more
positive occurrence, because change leads to new experience, which, in turn, leads to knowledge
and a better... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, when confronted with a mental battle, his logical defense isn t strong enough. Othello loses
because sentiment beats his rationality.
The final scene in Othello is loaded with deaths. Every character that died in the play was a
victim of Iago s fraudulent plot. Iago slew Roderigo and Emilia to maintain the frame around his
scheme. He killed to keep them silent, thinking that he could still retain his cover. Iago was foul,
because he did harm to others only to satisfy his own appetite. His plot ended in the most
unfortunate way, and it s end didn t justify the means, because he got caught.
Othello slew Desdemona for honor and justice. Although he was wrong, his action can be
somewhat justified, as his purpose was understandable. Othello was already dead inside before he
committed suicide. The difference in his character before and after the temptation scene is
remarkable. Iago literally tore Othello apart and rebuilt him, instilling in him a whole new set of
facts and ideas. Othello killed himself when he realized the truth, because his old self was already
gone, not to mention the love of his life. His suicide followed the instant that he stepped out of
delusion, and his death was an awakening,
because it shattered the misconception of truth. Othello s death concluded the play, clearing up
every lie that Iago had woven.

Zacharias Suffering
Zacharias grew up in an Anglican family. However, the belief is only shown on the form. He
himself was an atheist until 17, when he attempted suicide by swallowing poison but failed.
According to Zacharias, there was somebody who told his mother to read John s Gospel to him
while he laid in hospital in Delhi. Then Zacharias decided to accept the Christian faith. Now,
Zacharias is the author of many Christian s publications, including Jesusamong other Gods. The
book pointed out many issues by stating questions that skeptics may ask Christianitysuch as: If God
is real, is not He supposed to make our lives wonderful? Is God the source of suffering? Then one
by one, it answers all of the questions to showed that Christian faith is a reasonable... Show more

When pain and suffering attach people lives, again, because of their brokenness, they hunger for
God s solutions. When God does not give them what they want, their emotions take over. People
start to ask why He allows it. More than that, they question: is He there? This question has
caused incalculable individuals to judge their religion, question their beliefs, and, in some
cases, abandon the concept that there s a God. Several reach a conclusion just like this: If there
is a caring, almighty God, he would rid of the planet of evil currently. Since he does not, there
should not be a God and if there is, he is either not caring or not almighty, either of that makes
Him unworthy to our worship. To answer this question, Zacharias points out: the explanation must
meet both the intellectual and emotional demands (89). Christianity as a worldview is the only
one that accepts the reality of evil and suffering, explains both the cause and the purpose, and
offers God given strength to survive it. Evil is real and the source of it is: humanity rebelled
against the holy Creator. Because they both suffer and cause suffering, evil seems mysterious to
them and they put the blame on God. The only solution is they have to allow God to transform
their hearts to bring an end to evil because He already has a plan for

A High School Story
I m different because everyone else is not me. This as written by Julian Aguilar, a famous
screenwriter for Hollywood films. It was my first day at a real school, preschool doesn t count,
and I was starting first grade, since I skipped kindergarten. It wasn t always easy being the
youngest in your entire grade, and sometimes, the whole school, but I made it through and even
got into GATE. That s what this story is all about. Are you ready for your first day of school? my
mom asked me. I sure am! I said. She asks me if I m excited and I told her how enthusiastic and
anxious I was. When she drives me to my new school, I got more and more pumped. I can hardly
wait! As uneasy as I was, though, I was also honored to be the only five year old in first
grade. We re here! my mom exclaimed as she pulled into a parking lot. There was a sign that
said: Ladera Elementary School. Awesome! I m not in preschool anymore, I m an older girl! I
exclaimed. That s right pumpkin, my mom gave me a huge bear hug. Now, let s go meet the
principal, shall we? We went into the office and met the principal, then, the principal ,
introduced me to my teacher, Mrs. Scott, and some new friends, Cassandra, Skylar, MacKenzie,
and Madison. During the time we were in the office, my mom had signed a form that I didn t
really pay attention to it, but a few weeks later, she drove me to a place that isn t school, and I got
really worried. Mom, where are you taking me? She said that she was going

Web-Based Construction Essay
Web Based Construction
While most professions have been quick to embrace the information age, the construction industry
has fallen behind in using new technology. However, web based systems, designed specifically
with public works professionals in mind, are emerging to help improve project management and
overall efficiency.
Time is among the precious commodities on construction sites. Rarely is there enough time to
complete all facets of a project on deadline. Under constant pressure to complete projects on time
and on (or even under) budget, construction managers also face difficulties communicating with all
of their contractors, subcontractors and managers. Technology can aid the process by ... Show more

Web enabled project management solutions are becoming more obsolete as software vendors
dedicate more of their resources to developing web based software applications.
Web based applications provide a platform for better project communication and collaboration
without being tied to a specific network or software application. A standard web browser (ie.
Internet Explorer) is the interface for project information. These applications provide instantaneous
communication, collaboration, and secure access for project participants. Buzzsaw,
Constructw@re, and e Builder are just some examples of web based systems available today. Each
application develops their own set of standards and procedures for managing project documents.
The alternative to buying a web based project management application is to hire a web developer to
create a customized management system for your organization. A customized system can be
tailored to follow pre existing organizational structure and procedures, collecting specific data for
company reports and forms.

Urinary Frequency
Urinary frequency can be defined as the necessity to urinate multiple times throughout the day
including night (nocturia). Simply stated urinary frequency is voiding at abnormally brief intervals
within a 24 hour period1. Additionally, urinary frequency has also been described as urinating
more than usual. Typically adults will urinate 4 6 times per day2. There have been surveys and
diary studies in the United States and Europe that state the upper limit for bouts of urination is eight
times per 24 hour period3. Every case should be evaluated thoroughly and urinating eight times per
day does not necessitate the need to seek medical attention. If urinary frequency is causing a bother
than medical attention is acceptable. The patient may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The patient may complain of lower extremity weakness, spinal cord damage, fever, back pain,
flank pain, increased appetite, and excessive thirst. Discharge from the vagina/ penis and/ or
sudden weight loss is also red flag responses. The physical exam will focus on the genitourinary
(GU) system. Important findings to look for are any discharge or lesions consistent with sexually
transmitted infections. In males, the size of the prostate gland should be noted in the rectal
examination. In females, any signs of a cystocele and urinary leakage from the urethra should be
noted in the pelvic examination. Neurological examination should test for lower extremity
weakness and loss of sensation. Once it has been determined that further workup is needed there are
certain labs and procedures that can be ordered. All patients will require a urinalysis and culture that
can easily be performed to rule out infection and/ or hematuria. Cytoscopy, cystometry, and
urethrography can be used to determine if there is presence of cystitis, bladder outlet obstruction,
and cystocele.2 In males, prostate specific antigen (PSA) level determination, ultrasonography, and
prostate biopsy may be required to distinguish between benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate

Animal Wolverine Research Paper
Have you ever heard of the animal, the wolverine? If not sit and listen. The wolverine is the
greatest animal out of the millions in the world. The reason my paragon animal is the best out of
every animal is because the wolverine is an unmovable force that can take on anything three
times its size. Now this amazing creature is a step up from everyday animals like cats, dogs, and
fish. It can survive in many different climates unlike other animals. They can travel for hundreds
of miles for food and to find their mates. These animals have only one mate for their entire lives.
So they are loyal. This animal is known for scaring off many predators including grizzlies,
wolves, and the list goes on. This is just to show their claws are pretty sharp. Many people try to
compare it to the wolf, but the wolverine would destroy it. There is no question that this animal is
the top dog over everybody. Lastly, everyone beware because the wolverine is out and about, so

Kuekuatsheu is the Innu Wolverine, a conniving trickster character who lies, cheats, is greedy, and
basically acts completely inappropriately by Innu standards. This quote was by the Native

The Literary Style Of Edgar Allan Poe
No two authors are ever identical, they craft their stories precisely while mixing in their own style
to differentiate them from the others and allow them to stand out. Many respected authors use
literary devices to make the work their own. For instance, well renown author Edgar Allan Poe has
a style that is famous for its unusual usage of the many literary devices to contribute to his Gothic
writings. Poe s styleis bound together with what we see in most of his work such as using diction
to create allegories and allusions, using mood to create suspense, and symbolism to create a
meaning deeper than what our eyes see. To demonstrate an idea through words on a paper takes
a skillful writer, but to use those words to make the story a whole new idea than what is written,
the writer must have a style that is different and flexible such as Poe s. Poe takes a contrastive
path with diction in almost all of his works. Each word he uses is part of an overall view, such as
in the story The Raven , Poe uses vivid verbs and rare words to convey an idea that everything he
has written about is an allegory to the memories of Lenore. Also, one of his other works uses his
word choice to relate the narrator to the Book of Revelations. Poe uses the sentence And then my
vision fell upon the seven tall candles upon the table. , he uses this set of words to relate the
man in the black robes to the Judgement of Man in the Book of Revelations (Pit 1). Poe uses all
the help he can get from his words to compose something that stands out from other published
authors. His usage of allegories and allusions make his stories authentic. Mood plays an
enormous part in a narrative writing. It gives you a feel of the story and what the author is
trying to convey. Poe uses mood to make you feel what the narrator is feeling. Such as in The Pit
and the Pendulum , Poe uses repetition and imagery to create the mood of the story for us to feel
as if we were in the narrator s shoes. In most of Poe s works he uses mood and centers the whole
story around it to appeal to the audience. In Cask of Amontillado the narrator and Fortunato go
down to the catacombs of his ancestors. While getting lower into the catacombs, Poe starts to use the

Affluenza Case Study Essay
In Mr. Couch s case, I am on the side of nurture. While he still should have endured a greater
consequence, it is clear that Mr. Couch and other privileged kids are beginning to show symptoms
of affluenza. This seems to be a rising problem in modern society. However, there are other places
to learn right from wrong other than places like home. Schoolcould be used as a great example as a
place to learn what decisions should and should not be made. The issue with using school as an
example is that money follows people. Parents who can afford to pay for private schooling can a
greater influence in their child s education, which can, in turn, give their child more lea way when
it comes to rules. Even in every day society these types of issues occur.... Show more content on

However, I have had a greater amount of experience with the nurture standpoint. As a child, I
was raised mainly by my grandparents. Their values and morals were imprinted on me since the
time of my birth. On the other hand, my sister, who is eighteen months younger than I am, had
lived away from me in the house of my parents. By the time I had moved back with my family, it
was clear that despite having the same biological parents as my sister, we were completely
different people. I am a more out going and fun loving person where as my sister is more distant
and reserved. She doesn t care for hugs or affection. Kayla, my sister, may have developed this
distance because of the way our parents interacted with her. Our parents did not spend very much
time with their children, so being self sufficient as a child was very necessary. The environment I
was placed in while growing up was full of affection and reassurance. It was a known fact that
someone would be coming home to me at the end of the day as long as I had continued to live with

they maintain their genetic material. Viruses are classified into families that are distinguish
based on their shape and form as well as they have names that are used for identification and is
usually related to the type of disease they cause. Rotavirus is a member of the family Reoviridae
that is nonenveloped segmented double stranded RNA and globally is the leading cause of severe

The first Supreme Court case that I listened to was one brought forth in front of the Warren Court

counsel and advice with married couples. The case later played a great reference in the
Constitutional rights for abortion. The Griswold v. Connecticut case went in front of the Supreme

Reflection In The Poetry Of Emily Dickinson sRoom
From another perspective. Sometimes lost, deep in thoughts, tough emotions and feelings.
Sometimes looking, staring but again not watching something. Sometimes imaging big dreams,
big things distracted in soul visions but never finding anything in reality. Surrounded by same
objects, life, people, big roads, big decisions, choices. We, the people we are unique, we are a
mosaic with rare, colorful pieces. The way we live the life, enjoy the world, see the things makes
us who we are. In dark or light, confident or not, walking or halting. Under the sun s beam, warm
and relieved; under the cold moon and shining stars that fill the black, mysterious, endless
sky, thinking in sadness. Often in reality; rarely in our mind. Every time contemplating the miracles
of the nature. Enjoying the infinite universe with just two finite eyes just enough. Every creature
that can see has a power. And all creatures have another one called the art of seeing vision.
Can we do without the windows of soul eyes?
Can we live with feelings and vision?
This question can have thousands of questions full of emotions. A diversity of thoughts for a theme
that raises contradictions. I think no, you think maybe but what does Dickinson think? What does
the blind poet that feels the world from her room thinks? Some critics have used her life to try to
explain her poetry, and others have tried to explain her life by referring to her poems, which they
assume are autobiographical. Emily Dickinson is a passionate poet that expresses herself without
barriers. With a diamond hard language that reflects light to the dark and hope, inspiration till the
last moment.
Emily Dickinson s poetry speaks powerfully to us. It captures her insights and recreates meaningful
events in living; it helps us to understand and even to re live our own experiences through her
intensity and with her emotional and intellectual clarity. In the first stanza Before she got her eye
put out , the speaker liked as well to see / As other creatures, that have eyes / And know no other

because they believed in somethings that he didn t approve. When they were killed, he would
hang them from the light poles so that the people could see what he would do. So, when they
killed him they stuffed his mouth with grass and hung him for the light pole just like he did to
the loved ones of many people. Defarge arrives bearing news of the capture of Foulon, a wealthy
man who once declared that if people were starving they should eat grass (Dickens 295). Even
though he did kill all the people whether it was a direct death or it was by an action he didn t
deserve to die because of revenge. He should have been put in jail or he should have been hung.
That would have been the proper way to get revenge. Third, the plot against Lucie and Little
Lucie. There was a plot against Lucie and little Lucie because they were aristocrats. The plot

Charles is put on trial for being an emigrant aristocrat, but is quickly taken out of jail because of
Lucie s father being Doctor Manette. This is frowned apon by many people during this time and
it is a reason why people would want to get revenge because he had a big secret kept from

Why Jackson May Recover Contract Damages
I PART A
Is Jackson able to recover by way of damages; the students profits made on Airbandb; and the loss
for the three months rent before 1 December?
To show that Jackson may recover contract damages, the following elements must be considered:
1.Breach
2.Loss
3.Causation
4.Remoteness
5.Assessment of damages
A Breach
To claim damages, Jackson must establish breached of contract. The contract prohibits the students
from sub letting the property without Jackson s express permission. Without his knowledge, they
sub let the house on Airbandb, thereby constituting breach.
B Loss
Jackson has lost the profit from three months rent before 1 December.
C Causation
Did students breach cause Jackson to lose rent profits for the ... Show more content on

Per Hadley v Baxendale remoteness is satisfied where the damage either:
(a)arose naturally according to the usual course of things, from the breach; or
(b)may reasonably be supposed to have been in the contemplation of both parties at the time they
made the contract, as a probable result of the breach.
Applying the first limb, the students were presumably aware that subletting was a serious
possibility in termination and loss of future rent payments (until a new tenant was found), thus
rendering the loss reasonably foreseeable . While the students may argue that the extent of the
loss as a full three months of lost rent renders the loss too remote, per H Parsons (Livestock) Ltd v
Uttley Ingham, the foreseeability of the extent of the harm is irrelevant where the type of harm was
foreseeable (as satisfied above). Thus, remoteness is likely satisfied.
E Assessment of damages
Can Jackson claim loss of bargain damages?
Loss of bargain damages are only recoverable where a contract can be terminated at common law:
Shevill v Builders Licensing Board ( Shevill ). At common law, the right to terminate may arise
when there is a breach of a condition a term so important the party would not have entered into the
contract without assurance of its strict performance: Luna Park (NSW) Ltd v Tramways
Advertising Pty Ltd.
This clause is likely to be construed as a condition given the contract is a lease agreement.

a service for a certain audience. Therefore, the Redbot will also improve the quality of life and
affect social, political, or economic implications/conclusions. A Redbot, named the Redrone, is
specifically designed to aid and monitor bison. Bison are becoming ecologically extinct, are not
allowed to be a wild animal, and classified as Near Threatened. In the 1800s, bison have been
hunted and the population has decreased, now only 1,000 in the prairies. Although, recently, the
population is recovering due to conservation herds. Without the bison, the grasslands would be
destroyed because bison help spread seeds in the habitat. Additionally, it can be dangerous for a
human being to monitor bison. An average bison is 10 12 ft. and 900 2000 lbs. By using the
Redrone, it can supervise bison to make sure they do not roam far away with a recording camera

The Psychodynamic Theories Of Depression
Psychodynamic Theory The psychodynamic theory was the dominant school of thought within
psychiatry and much of clinical psychology during the first part of the 20th century. There are
multiple explanations that fall under the psychodynamic categories that explain why a person
develops depressive symptoms. Psychoanalysts historically believed that depression was caused by
anger converted into self hatred or anger that turns inward. Historically, psychodynamic theories
were extensively criticized for their lack of empiricism. According to interpersonal theory, a
depressed person s negative interpersonal behaviors cause other people to reject them. In an
escalating cycle, depressed people, who desperately want reassurance from others, start... Show

the individual. The importance of psychodynamic approaches to depression is how the unconscious
motivational factors lead the patient to perceive and interpret outward reality and experiences and
to create reluctantly problems that maintain depressive symptoms, particularly in interactive
relationships. For example, some individuals may unconsciously avoid any clear expression of
aggression in close relationships for fear of abandonment although they may feel very frustrated and
dissatisfied. Likewise, because of their high standards and competitiveness, highly self critical

The End Of Chattel Slavery Essay
Looking back in history, you will find that slavery was always present. There are accounts of
slavery in Babylon, Greece, and Rome, all occurring before the Common Era; but there was a
major change during the year 1619 in the way slavery was implemented. This form of slavery was
known as chattel slavery. Defined as A civil relationship in which one person has absolute power
over the life, fortune, and liberty of another (Legal dictionary.com), chattel slaverytargeted African
slaves that were brought over from Africa to the Americas to support the production of crops
such as tobacco and cotton. Previous to the year 1619, slavery was used as a way to pay off debt
or as seen in Rome it existed to provide everyone with an equal opportunity. In examining the start
of chattel slavery I pose three questions: What was the true purpose of chattel slavery, why was
chattel slavery only in America and found nowhere else in any point of history, and are there forms
of chattel slavery that exist today? Answering these questions will be pivotal in explaining why
chattel slavery was constructed.
A common misconception that most people have about the word slavery is that it is bad or
people tend to think about African slaves walking in chains and being beaten. History has shown
and proven numerous account of slavery so how come when we think of slavery we seem to think
of the stereotypical slavery (chattel slavery)? In fact, Classical Greece was the first society seen

The Irrational Consumer Culture Surrounding Education
In his book Why Teach?, Mark Edmundson constructs an argument about the paradoxical consumer
culture surrounding education. The Virginian professor takes a stance on the problems that he has
both experienced in his own classroom and observed on campuses, and he approaches each
problem in turn, making significant claims which are assigned appropriate blames. His essay,
Liberal Arts Lite Entertainment, originally published in 1997, is broken into six sections and
begins with his experience at his own universitybefore branching out to all those across the country.
Following this is a deduction of studentculture as well as professors. He gives hope to the idea of
the acceptance and praising of genius (as opposed to the alienation students endorse so well)
towards the end of his essay, narrowing his argument down to a more specific change that could
possibly cause a domino effect from individual students to universities across America. The scale
of the situation is much too large to be easily fixed, and it is clear that Edmundson s purpose in
writing this essay is to inform those who are engulfed in the academic world. More specifically, it
seems, he targets professors and higher level students, and even possibly their parents. By singling
out these people and making the problem of consumer culture in universities known to those who
care exponentially about educating the youth, it is much more likely that Edmundson s argument
will trickle down to said youth in the process

Working out can be strenuous at times. Therefore, you might commence to experience muscle
fatigue. The central factor for muscle fatigue is the accumulation of lactic acid that builds up due
to working muscles. Thus, the type of exercise you conduct can have a major impact on muscle

Key Challenges Of The Pharma Industry

Within the industry there are several challenges that pharma companies face. Of the challenges,
three significantly impact the industry and most certainly shapes how companies like Actavis

Innovation within the value chain is on the decline from decreased R D productivity
Persistent regulatory pressures both in the US and global markets
Loss of revenue due to generic competitors and new industry players such as biotech startups Drug
innovation is one of the key challenges facing the pharma industry. R D focused pharma companies
currently invest approximately $12.6 billion a year in new drug development. This figure
historically has doubled every five years and it typically takes a company 10 years to recoup the
amount invested on one patent protected approved drug, after which competition in the generic
sector erodes profit margins by about 80%. Pharma companies will spend between $350 million
and $1 billion on new drugs over a period of 15 years. This number is staggering considering that
95% of experimental medicines that make it to human trials fail to be safe or effective. Once a
drug makes it to market, pharma companies have a finite amount of time to capitalize on the sales,
distribution and marketing due to patent expiration. Additionally, something else pharma
companies, especially generic focused companies should worry about is due to lower rates of

Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash
5.1 Introduction
In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this
instance, with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is
similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I
isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for
Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion
literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the
celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a
metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the
fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane
ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as
religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more
sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and
protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building
described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than
such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly defined entity in Fandom as Religion
literature (see Doss 1999;

passage and says that the attempts are unsuccessful and could cause environmental damage. Also,
she refutes each of the author s reasons. First of all, the reading passage claims that building
fences could stop the spreading of can toads. This was done before with rabbits and prevent their
spreading to a new area. However, the speaker counters this point and illustrates that the young

Deucalion Compare And Contrast
Favour Owolabi Mrs. Henderson Honors World Lit. February 3, 2015 Mankind s Death and
Rebirth Being an honorable person is an important attribute to many people. Noah and
Deucalion were two highly honorable men. These men and their families were the only two
men out of thousands to survive a fate that changed mankind forever. Noah was a man from
Babylon who feared God and found favor in His sight. Deucalion was a man from Greece who
pleased the gods and was able to stay pure in his heart. Both men had many similar attributes and
purposes for life, but each had differences that made their stories unique. A commonality in both
stories is that mankind harbored evil in their hearts and had no regard for God/Zeus provoking
their wraths. According to the Grecian flood story, men became unbearably wicked and no
longer lived at peace with each other. They were always at war with each other having no law or
safety in the land. In the Bible, God saw how evil men were and how there was nothing but
immorality in mans heart. The depravity and iniquity of man are what led to God and Zeus s wrath.
Men became lawless, it was as if every man was for themselves. This corruption is what made God
and Zeus to become weary and to regret ever creating man. But as the world became wickeder and

The Environmental Disaster Of The United States Essay
Introduction
Mining affects the lives of millions of Americans every day. Although the United
States has a large amount of coal remaining to be mined and burned, almost three fourths of the
public land in America has been declared off limits for mining. Mountaintop mining is a relatively
new form of surface mining that has steadily gained popularity. The debate as to whether or not this
process is an economic necessity or environmental disaster for Kentuckians is the question.
Undoubtedly, it is an environmental disaster and it should be removed in every state that they are
using it not to mention the health hazards. One report found states, Although dozens of new coal
burning power plants are planned or under construction, the latest coal boom is meeting resistance
from critics who want to shift the U.S. economy toward cleaner fuels. Even if electricity from coal
is cheaper than other sources, they argue, the savings are far outweighed by its environmental and
health impacts (Isabella, 2013).

Defects Of Nuclear Weapons
Isolde Fang Current issue Benefits and defects of nuclear weapons The use of nuclear weapons
is a heated topic today, catching more attention from both the public and governments than
before. While many countries favor nuclear weapons for safety and international reasons,
nuclear weapons do have defects in moral, environmental, and economic aspects. For counties
that favor nuclear weapons, they favor them because of the benefits brought by them in
guaranteeing national safety and boosting international status. Nuclear weapons can protect a
country physically, like a physical protection of national territory, just as Sico van der Meer
writes in his article States Motivations to Acquire or Forgo Nuclear Weapons that nuclear
weapons are considered to be the ultimate tool for survival. (2016) This citation shows that
nuclear weapons are so powerful that they can be used as the ultimate tool of survival. Due to
their power, they can protect a country s territory from external aggression by deterring other
countries. Japan is a good example of this kind of country. There are many possible reactions
Japan can made after the threat from North Korea of nuclear attack of U.S. bases in Japan. Some
assert that protecting Japan itself by developing nuclear weapons is a good way (Corr, 2017). By
developing nuclear weapons, Japan can deter North Korea from actual nuclear attack and protect
itself from warfare. Free of intrusion and warfare is what always pursued by all

The Importance Of War In The Film Paths Of Glory
When reoriented by the trauma and darkness of war, wisdom shapes an altered perception of the
value of human life, embodying the light of gratitude. The film Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley
Kubrick, dealt with the harsh conditions in the trenches during WW1, and is an exploration of
dehumanisation. The film discreetly questions the authority of superior officers, and the way in
which the hierarchy of the army is depicted. The film was made during the Cold War era, which
was the geopolitical rivalry between US and the Soviet Union. Situated in WW2, Catch 22is a
satirical novel composed by Joseph Heller, which defines the infuriating, inverted thought
processes by which the military runs its soldiers lives; Any time a soldier discerns a possible route
out of the war, there is a catch, and it is always Catch 22.
Anti war texts construct emotionally challenging and persuasive accounts of condemnation of
darkness and injustice in war. In the film Paths of Glory, Stanley Kubrick creates a visual
condemnation of warfare through his portrayal of injustice. Colonel Dax is the epitome of human
goodness, a characteristic which ironically causes conflict within the context of the military as
demonstrated in the Testimony scene, where Dax makes a powerful statement about the cruelty of
the court case. Dax s sadistic plea condemns the officials of their unjust verdict, however they
prevail with an indifferent reading of the evidence. For Mireau it is the decision to order the

Absalom explains how he finally chose to forgive him. As he asks for a second chance for his

dying away and he did not forgive him until now. Although Stephen sinned as he let his son go as

Stephen Kumalo also showed sin and redemption with Gertrude, Stephen Kumalo s sister.

Rachel Hutter: Engineer, Imagineer, and Mother If you could have dinner with any person,

complaining about being stuck on first base, Troy uses baseball to explain life to those around
him. Ironically, it is baseball that actually leads to Troy s psychic castration. Although Troy was
older when he was released from prison and playing in the Negro leagues, racismheld younger
players from competing with white Americans and there is no doubt that Troy saw this as what
held him back as well. Unable to play in the major leagues bitters Troy s attitude towards life and
affects his relationship with his son, Cory, and wife, Rose. While on a micro level, the rules and
mechanics of baseball have a negative impact on Troy s mentality, on a macro level Troy s
loyalty to the game can be seen as an empowering force for black America in the 50s. The idea of
not striking out, and the fetish of the home run is meant to represent the black community s
resistance against society s racism during this time. Although the ideology of baseball consumes
Troy to the point of his own personal strikeouts, the ideology itself, and who Troy represents, is
suppose to represent black America s fight against a racist

Michael Jackson Psychoanalysis
Michael Jackson was known around the world as the King of Pop. He was raised as a Jehovah s
Witness, which molded him into a shy and quiet person. Something he was opposite of on stage. It
is well documented that his father became violent with him and his brothers in order to push them
to become successful. Thus, missing out on his childhood. During his early life, Michael had an
accident that resulted in burns on his head and face. After this incident he had plastic surgery,
changing the shape of his nose. Although he was born an African American, it became apparent
that he started to appear lighter and lighter, bleaching his skin and ultimately appearing white. He

In turn, his behaviors came off as odd and resulted in others thinking that he was molesting kids.
The ego operates according to the reality principle. This part of the mind deals with facing reality
or facing the real world and solving real problems. The ego controls the Id so that a normal way of
acting according to society standards is present. Freud would say that Michael s ego was
underdeveloped and weak. This could explain why he couldn t understand why he came off as
odd to the public. If Michael s ego was developed he would know that having sleepovers with boys
would be considered wrong in society s norm.
The lack of ability of creating friendships when he was a child could explain why he always
surrounded himself with children, and preferred to be in the presence of children than adults.
He always stated that children were pure in the heart and less manipulative than adults. The Id
of Michael struggled with the ego. The ego was never able to keep under control his desires and
pleasures, allowing his Id to take over. His creation of the amusement park shows how the Id
overpowered his ego. The amusement park wasn t only for children to enjoy, but for him to enjoy
and relive his childhood. Freud would analyze this gratification as becoming a core aspect of
Michael s personality.
From a psychoanalytic standpoint, Freud would argue that

Low Users Adoption Of Health Information Exchange
Introduction
The principle idea of this research study was to explore the reasons behind low user adoption of
Health Information Exchange. These reasons include technology, financial, and resource
limitations which can be driven by the size of the organizations and their regional location. Also
coming into play as a strong barrier can be the unwanted but necessary partnerships that many
clinical institutions must enter into to provide the most well rounded and full picture of data to
exchange. The theories to fixing these user adoption issues that will be explored are making sure
that every person takes an active role in the system which will give them a vested interest, and

(What is HIE (Health Information Exchange)?, 2014) Not having a full picture of a patient s history
in one place will cost both the patient and the clinical professional to waste time and money.
The rising costs of healthcare have increased the need for centralized and secure data for
organizations to proactively control costs and to continue to improve the quality of care for
patients. Many healthcare organizations have been working towards tackling and complying with
this issue but have a variety of complex situations due to limited resources (both technology and
financial), geographic limitations, and even political issues from organizational setups. Healthcare
has become a competitive market as well which makes the limitations become more prevalent to
those who can t keep up.
All companies involved in any type of medical field whether social care, mental care or physical
care, are affected by the need for Health Information Exchange. This includes small organizations
to large multi hospital organizations. Healthcare has become a competitive field with organizations
needing to control their costs, while keeping clients by providing the best care possible. Patients
have come to realize that if not satisfied with their care, they will go elsewhere. This has allowed

Media In Vietnam War Essay
The Vietnam War was considered to be the first televised war, with many people watching the
horrors of the war in the safety of their own homes, but what was the influence of the Media on
the Attitudes of the Australian Public and returning troops? The Vietnam War was the first war in
which the media was so involved in showing the destruction and devastation of the abilities that
war can produce. The types of media during the War was very broad but got the news around very
quickly as television, radio and newspapers were the most common source of media coverage, as
well as many photographs that were distressing. These photographs showed the public the severity
and danger of the war in a more justified way compared to the graphic images the American media
used, although there was still some disturbing images that left... Show more content on

A significant example of the influence media had on the public perceptions is the photographs
that were used to express the severity of the war. A good example of this was the Napalm girl
which was a famous photograph taken by Nick Ut. The Napalm bombing was screened on the
TVs of the homes of all Australians which allowed them to see the reality of the horror of the war.
The photo of the Napalm girl was taken on the 8th of June, 1972 which contains a young
Vietnamese girl, who was approximately 9 years old at the time, running naked on the road, beside
other Vietnamese children, with severe burns on her back due to the Napalm bombing which
destroyed her hometown. Public perceptions were influenced as the people watching the footage
could see that the bombing was ruining the lives of innocent women and children. Many
Australians were scarred by the images being brought into their homes which resulted in fuelling
the growing anti war

Honda Pilot Commercial Analysis Essay
The Sing A Long
In the 2012 Honda Pilot commercial, the viewer will automatically notice that this car is a total
family based car. In the commercial a family of eight is shown traveling on what seemed to be a
very long and exhausting car ride, heading to a vacation spot of some sort. With six kids in the
back, the viewer wouldn t imagine a quiet car ride, luckily the teen in the back row of the car
changed that. The boy started making a beat with his mouth that was very familiar to not just him
but to his sister as well, who continued to make another beat with him that was not just familiar to
them, but to there whole family. Once everyone in the car had figured out the song, one of the
daughters sitting by the window had started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting in the commercial is very important because the Honda Pilot was made for bigger
families that like to travel. The setting in this commercial was on a road in what looked like the
middle of nowhere. There were tons of dirt hills as they drove past that almost look like
mountains Which could be one of the reason why the windows were down in the Honda Pilot. In
the Honda Pilot not just the driver and the passenger side window roll down, but the back
middle roll down as well. With mountains being there, it helps the Pilot show off that feature
which can partly convince the buyer to purchase the Honda. The viewer will also notice the
dullness of colors being used in the commercial. When watching the commercial the viewer will
notice that the mountains, and the sky outside of the Honda Pilot are a very dull yellow and
brown color. The point of that is to show how boring life is outside of the Pilot. The dullness of
the colors outside of the vehicle make the vehicle come off as a shiny new item that the viewer
needs for his/her family, but the colors on the inside play a big role to the commercial as well.
The interior of the Honda Pilot can be described as soft and plush material, as well as smooth and
warm. The Honda Pilot was made for families so the impotence of how well the interior was
contrasted with the outside of the car was very

Bartolome De La Casas Summary
Introduction: History of Bartolome de la casas Bartolome de la Casas was a historian who had
Spanish origin, and he was branded a Dominican friar and a social reformer as well. He was born
in Seville in 1484 and was eventually given an official appointment as the protector of the
Indians. His appointment as the protector of Indians was greatly sparkled by his service as
resident bishop in Chiapas, a position that he was surely the first person of his kind to hold. He
was a great writer and used his writing to address the issues that colonialists committed against
the indigenous people especially in the West Indies. To this effect Bartolome de la Casas wrote
an Account on the Destruction of the Indies alongside the other document called Historia de Las
Indias . He arrived in America as a settler, and he was among the very first European to do the
same. During his stay in America, he witnessed the Spanish colonialists treat the indigenous
Americans very harshly and unfairly. Filled with fury and spirit of reformation, Bartolome de la
casas decided to create the deference by advocated against such brutality (Matthew and Michel,
15). In a bid to express real reformist spirit, Bartolome de la Casas had to... Show more content on

anything, rationale was supposed to be the guiding principle for determination of whether one was

not established ties with the outside world. In the event they considered such people inferior
because they did things in a different manner. The universal truth remained; the natives were human

Pregnancy Discrimination Essay
Pregnancy Discrimination There are many issues to consider in pregnancy discrimination. The
well being of the child, the well being of the mother, employer/employee relations, as well as
gender issues. There are however several State and Federal laws that protect people against
pregnancydiscrimination. Two of the Federal laws are the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the
Family and Medical Leave Act. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act was an amendment to title VII
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Under the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, it is illegal for
an employer of 15 or more workers, to discriminate against a person because of pregnancy,
childbirth, or pregnancy related conditions. This means... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The other Federal law, the Family and Medical Leave Act gives added protection. The Family and
Medical Leave Act went into effect August 5 1993.
It states that:
#61623; If a doctor or health care provider says their patient is sick and unable to work during
their pregnancy, they may be able to get up to 12 weeks off without pay under this law.
#61623; Time off is also allowed for childbirth, adoption, and to care for a sick child or family
member.
#61623; If someone takes time off under this law, they have the right to the same job or a job with
equal pay and benefits when return to work.
The above two laws help prevent pregnancy discrimination, giving employees certain rights and
laying down basic rules for employers to follow. The question is then how effective are these laws?
And are they an aid or hindrance to business.
The laws seem to be effective, thousands of women a year who are pregnant or new mothers file

A Summary OfI Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
Lost. What a standard term. One that is often associated with a child wandering off in a grocery
store, or somebody taking the wrong turn and not arriving at the correct destination. But the trouble
is that it is hardly ever associated with anything deeper, such as the human soul. Yet the reality is,
everybody s soulis indeed a little bit lost. And if not lost, at least diverted to a path of pure
monotony that drives them to forget the importance of the little things in life. An example of this
concept is the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloudby William Wordsworth. At the beginning of the
poem, the speaker is wandering through life without purpose. He is simply living a life that he
no longer feels any form of connection towards. But then he comes across a field of dancing
daffodils and his perspective changes entirely to one of pure joy and ease with his life. Through
his application of simile, symbolism, and personification, in his work, the speaker makes his poem
far more meaningful. The use of these devices helps to shape the poem s central idea, that is when
one stops roaming aimlessly through everyday life and pays attention, they can discover the true
beauties that are present in the world and learn to appreciate them a little bit more.
One of the main figurative language elements that the speaker uses within his poem is a simile.
The title of the poem itself, as well as the first line are repeating similes. The speaker uses this
component in the lines I wandered

The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence
In her novel The Stone Angel, Margaret Laurence uses the stone angel monument to embody the
qualities of Hagar . Over the course of the novel, Hagar reflects back on the memories that have
made up her life. Hagar s loneliness and depression are self induced and brought on by her pride,
lack of emotion, stubbornness and the ignorance which she has towards anyone s opinion but her
own. The qualities of Hagar are identical with those possessed by the stone angel monument and
paralleled by Laurence many times throughout the novel. The angel was certainly not a suitable
statue to mark the death of Mrs. Currie as it was uncharacteristic of her. The statue of the angel is a
more fitting representation of Hagar s father Jason Currie and hence... Show more content on

When her son John dies she does not weep, almost as if she was made of stone. The night my son
died I was transformed to stone and never wept at all. (Laurence 243) Hagar believed if she cried
it would damage her pride and make her appear weak. She would simply not have people think
that. I wouldn t cry in front of strangers, whatever it cost me. (Laurence 242) Hagar makes love
to Bram and never lets him know that she enjoyed it. He never knew. I never let him know. I
never spoke aloud, and I made certain the trembling was all inner. (Laurence 81) She could never
allow others to know how she felt. Hagar remained emotionless throughout her life. When Bram
dies Hagar does not even dare to shed a tear. But when we d bury Bram and come home again
and lighted lamps for the evening, it was John who cried, not I. (Laurence 184) In many ways
Hagar s passionless life was identical to that of the Angel; it never shed a tear, rarely did she. Her
inability to express emotion led to her relentless ignorance of others and their opinions.
Hagar Shipley is a very stubborn woman at the age of ninety. She is very set in her ways, and does
not appreciate being told what to do. The most prominent sign of this stubbornness is when Hagar
is brought to Silverthreads nursing home to view this location. Upon this discovery Hagar attempts
to run away, only to find herself lost in a forest. The

Critical Aspects Of Social Work Essay
One of the key things that stood out for me while doing this course and before has made me
realize that social work is harder than I thought it would be. There are many critical aspects of
social work that help us work with clients. One of the biggest things that have stood out for me
was that helping people is more complicated than I thought there are so many critical things in
the process that work to help others. Therefore it is not as easy as I expected it would be. The
main reasons that I wanted to do this course was because I ultimately wanted to do to help
people. I have learned that many factors come into play in the field of social work, including
levels of practice, ethics and critical reflection and self care. While I have been at university and
doing the social work course I come to realize that the levels of social work are broken down into
three different categories they are micro, mezzo and macro social work, therefore, going from the
little picture to the bigger picture stuff which relates to the system theory. Systems theory allows
the client and the social worker can create an interconnected relationship with all forms (Moore,
2009. P86). From what I have learned is that there are many roles and responsibilities and power
that a social worker has on the person they are helping. Therefore, I have discovered that a practice
framework comes from many different aspects of learning through university and all throughout our
lives. I have learned that

Systematic Observation Is More Than Casual People Watching
Observations:
Systematic observation is more than casual people watching. It is used to observe specific
behaviors related to the topic being studied are recorded. Further, attempts are made to eliminate
bias of any kind that could skew the observation s findings by tasking multiple observers with
watching for the same behaviors and also repeating the observation.
Systematic observation is often used as the starting point for research. You need to know something
before you can decide whether it needs further research. The biggest disadvantage is the fact that it
is very time consuming and that people often change their behavior when they know they are being
watched. This means, you could observe them without them knowing it or you should

Analysis Of Cvs Health Corporation s 2014 10 K Report
Background: According to CVS Health Corporation s 2014 10 K report, the company contains
three reportable segments: (1) Pharmacy Services, (2) Retail Pharmacy, and (3) Corporate. The
Pharmacy Services segment provides Medicare, specialty mail order pharmacy, prescription
management systems, clinical services, and disease management programs to those in need. The
Retail Pharmacy segment entails the entire CVS store itself, which contains the pharmacy,
minute clinic, and front store selling merchandise. Prescription drugs accounted for about 70%
of the company s net revenues for the past three years (U.S. SEC Form 10 K). The purpose of
this memo is to address the topics of inherent risk, control risk, and detection risk. We will do this
by addressing an accounting policy stated in the company s 10 K report. We will discuss risks
associated with the accounting policy, recognize company controls, and test those controls.
Substantive analytics and tests of details will follow. Lastly, we will discuss fraud and extended
procedures to detect fraud. To end, we will conclude by outlining the main points and emphasizing
our audit plan. Accounting Policy and Assertion Evaluation The significant accounting policy that
we ve decided to review would be CVS Health Corporation s revenue recognition policy. We are
most concerned about the company overstating sales revenue and adding fictitious sales (Louwers,

Based on the article Shark Utilization, Marketing and Trade by Stefania Vannuccini,
Food and Agriculture, the life history of sharks are characterized by slow growth rates, low

ecologists as strong K strategists. Furthermore, they are usually the top predator in their
communities and are therefore comparatively sparsely distributed so, they possess biological
peculiarities and an ecological role that indicates that they could by particularly sensitive to an

  • 2. Rear Window, Miss Lonelyheart While Jeff is the protagonist and their are many women in Rear Window, Miss Lonelyheart , Stella, and Lisa play a key role in developing Jeff as a person and solving the mystery. Miss lonelyheart, who is played by actress Judith Evelyn, is a interesting and important sub character that helps Jeff understand the possible consequences of his voyeuristic habits. For example, we see a nighttime set with Jeff and Lisa enjoying a chilled glass of wine. Jeff is looking out the window and is watching Miss. Lonelyheart intently as she is preparing a meal for two; one for herself and the second for a former love. Jeff sips his wine with her from across the courtyard and watches as she breaks down in tears. Miss Lonelyheart, shows Jeff that as Stella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stella plays a articulate role as a mother character and also as a prophet. When she first arrives she portrays a very forward women bossing Jeff around like a mother might to their grown son. One of my favorite examples of her character is when she says to Jeff in discussion about Lisa, I can hear you now: Get out of my life, you wonderful woman. You re too good for me . More interestingly, Stella acts as a prophet to what will happen in the film. She says multiple times that she can Smell trouble in the apartment as she notices Jeff voristic habits. From a shot prospective, author John Belton points out an interesting fact about Stella visual role to show she know more about what is about to happen, ...narrative perspectives, such as those of Stella, Lisa, and Doyle, which initially differ from Jeff s in their refusal to believe him, ultimately give way to his perceptions, in large part because these characters are forced to share his spatial position, to see events from the single perspective which is his own. For Jeff, trapped at a fixed station point, there is only one possible way of interpreting what he has heard and seen; his stubborn and herence to his reading of events is partially understood in terms of his immobilization in space, which prohibits him, unlike the other characters, from gaining other ... • 3. The Theme Of Death In Othello and A Doll s House Essay... The theme of death is present in many works of literature. It is given metaphors and cloaked with different meanings, yet it always represents an end. Every end signifies a new beginning, and every death gives rise to a new birth. Physical death ...is mere transformation, not destruction, writes Ding Ming Dao. What dies is merely the identity, the identification of a collection of parts that we called a person. What dies is only our human meaning (49). Figuratively speaking, deathsymbolizes a change, an interruption or cessation of regular routine. In this sense, death can be viewed as a more positive occurrence, because change leads to new experience, which, in turn, leads to knowledge and a better... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, when confronted with a mental battle, his logical defense isn t strong enough. Othello loses because sentiment beats his rationality. The final scene in Othello is loaded with deaths. Every character that died in the play was a victim of Iago s fraudulent plot. Iago slew Roderigo and Emilia to maintain the frame around his scheme. He killed to keep them silent, thinking that he could still retain his cover. Iago was foul, because he did harm to others only to satisfy his own appetite. His plot ended in the most unfortunate way, and it s end didn t justify the means, because he got caught. Othello slew Desdemona for honor and justice. Although he was wrong, his action can be somewhat justified, as his purpose was understandable. Othello was already dead inside before he committed suicide. The difference in his character before and after the temptation scene is remarkable. Iago literally tore Othello apart and rebuilt him, instilling in him a whole new set of facts and ideas. Othello killed himself when he realized the truth, because his old self was already gone, not to mention the love of his life. His suicide followed the instant that he stepped out of delusion, and his death was an awakening, because it shattered the misconception of truth. Othello s death concluded the play, clearing up every lie that Iago had woven. The theme of death in Henrik Ibsen s A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Zacharias Suffering Zacharias grew up in an Anglican family. However, the belief is only shown on the form. He himself was an atheist until 17, when he attempted suicide by swallowing poison but failed. According to Zacharias, there was somebody who told his mother to read John s Gospel to him while he laid in hospital in Delhi. Then Zacharias decided to accept the Christian faith. Now, Zacharias is the author of many Christian s publications, including Jesusamong other Gods. The book pointed out many issues by stating questions that skeptics may ask Christianitysuch as: If God is real, is not He supposed to make our lives wonderful? Is God the source of suffering? Then one by one, it answers all of the questions to showed that Christian faith is a reasonable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When pain and suffering attach people lives, again, because of their brokenness, they hunger for God s solutions. When God does not give them what they want, their emotions take over. People start to ask why He allows it. More than that, they question: is He there? This question has caused incalculable individuals to judge their religion, question their beliefs, and, in some cases, abandon the concept that there s a God. Several reach a conclusion just like this: If there is a caring, almighty God, he would rid of the planet of evil currently. Since he does not, there should not be a God and if there is, he is either not caring or not almighty, either of that makes Him unworthy to our worship. To answer this question, Zacharias points out: the explanation must meet both the intellectual and emotional demands (89). Christianity as a worldview is the only one that accepts the reality of evil and suffering, explains both the cause and the purpose, and offers God given strength to survive it. Evil is real and the source of it is: humanity rebelled against the holy Creator. Because they both suffer and cause suffering, evil seems mysterious to them and they put the blame on God. The only solution is they have to allow God to transform their hearts to bring an end to evil because He already has a plan for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was my first day at a real school, preschool doesn t count, and I was starting first grade, since I skipped kindergarten. It wasn t always easy being the youngest in your entire grade, and sometimes, the whole school, but I made it through and even got into GATE. That s what this story is all about. Are you ready for your first day of school? my mom asked me. I sure am! I said. She asks me if I m excited and I told her how enthusiastic and anxious I was. When she drives me to my new school, I got more and more pumped. I can hardly wait! As uneasy as I was, though, I was also honored to be the only five year old in first grade. We re here! my mom exclaimed as she pulled into a parking lot. There was a sign that said: Ladera Elementary School. Awesome! I m not in preschool anymore, I m an older girl! I exclaimed. That s right pumpkin, my mom gave me a huge bear hug. Now, let s go meet the principal, shall we? We went into the office and met the principal, then, the principal , introduced me to my teacher, Mrs. Scott, and some new friends, Cassandra, Skylar, MacKenzie, and Madison. During the time we were in the office, my mom had signed a form that I didn t really pay attention to it, but a few weeks later, she drove me to a place that isn t school, and I got really worried. Simply stated urinary frequency is voiding at abnormally brief intervals within a 24 hour period1. Additionally, urinary frequency has also been described as urinating more than usual. Typically adults will urinate 4 6 times per day2. There have been surveys and diary studies in the United States and Europe that state the upper limit for bouts of urination is eight times per 24 hour period3. Now this amazing creature is a step up from everyday animals like cats, dogs, and fish. It can survive in many different climates unlike other animals. They can travel for hundreds of miles for food and to find their mates. These animals have only one mate for their entire lives. So they are loyal. This animal is known for scaring off many predators including grizzlies, wolves, and the list goes on. This is just to show their claws are pretty sharp. • 10. The Literary Style Of Edgar Allan Poe No two authors are ever identical, they craft their stories precisely while mixing in their own style to differentiate them from the others and allow them to stand out. Many respected authors use literary devices to make the work their own. For instance, well renown author Edgar Allan Poe has a style that is famous for its unusual usage of the many literary devices to contribute to his Gothic writings. Poe s styleis bound together with what we see in most of his work such as using diction to create allegories and allusions, using mood to create suspense, and symbolism to create a meaning deeper than what our eyes see. To demonstrate an idea through words on a paper takes a skillful writer, but to use those words to make the story a whole new idea than what is written, the writer must have a style that is different and flexible such as Poe s. Poe takes a contrastive path with diction in almost all of his works. Each word he uses is part of an overall view, such as in the story The Raven , Poe uses vivid verbs and rare words to convey an idea that everything he has written about is an allegory to the memories of Lenore. Also, one of his other works uses his word choice to relate the narrator to the Book of Revelations. Poe uses the sentence And then my vision fell upon the seven tall candles upon the table. , he uses this set of words to relate the man in the black robes to the Judgement of Man in the Book of Revelations (Pit 1). Poe uses all the help he can get from his words to compose something that stands out from other published authors. His usage of allegories and allusions make his stories authentic. Mood plays an enormous part in a narrative writing. It gives you a feel of the story and what the author is trying to convey. Poe uses mood to make you feel what the narrator is feeling. Such as in The Pit and the Pendulum , Poe uses repetition and imagery to create the mood of the story for us to feel as if we were in the narrator s shoes. In most of Poe s works he uses mood and centers the whole story around it to appeal to the audience. In Cask of Amontillado the narrator and Fortunato go down to the catacombs of his ancestors. While getting lower into the catacombs, Poe starts to use the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While he still should have endured a greater consequence, it is clear that Mr. Couch and other privileged kids are beginning to show symptoms of affluenza. This seems to be a rising problem in modern society. However, there are other places to learn right from wrong other than places like home. Schoolcould be used as a great example as a place to learn what decisions should and should not be made. The issue with using school as an example is that money follows people. Confluent cells were then washed twice and incubated with MEM for 30 min at 37В°C and virus binding was assayed. To evaluate the binding in the cells treated with neuraminidase, the assay was carried out. There were two type of treatments depending if the MA104 cells were LBPA blocking assays they will incubate the cells of anti LBPA antibody with an isotype IgG control or if the MA104 cells were protease inhibitors they were treated with leupeptin (in water) or with cathepsin B or L inhibitors. Then the cells that had grown on glass coverslips were washed twice with MEM to get them ready to localize the rotavirus particles with endocytic markers. The cells went through an immunoblot analysis. Finally the qRT PCR was done as well as the statistical analysis using the two tail paired ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes looking, staring but again not watching something. Sometimes imaging big dreams, big things distracted in soul visions but never finding anything in reality. Surrounded by same objects, life, people, big roads, big decisions, choices. We, the people we are unique, we are a mosaic with rare, colorful pieces. The way we live the life, enjoy the world, see the things makes us who we are. In dark or light, confident or not, walking or halting. Under the sun s beam, warm and relieved; under the cold moon and shining stars that fill the black, mysterious, endless sky, thinking in sadness. Often in reality; rarely in our mind. Every time contemplating the miracles of the nature. Enjoying the infinite universe with just two finite eyes just enough. Every creature that can see has a power. And all creatures have another one called the art of seeing vision. Can we do without the windows of soul eyes? Can we live with feelings and vision? This question can have thousands of questions full of emotions. A diversity of thoughts for a theme that raises contradictions. I think no, you think maybe but what does Dickinson think? What does the blind poet that feels the world from her room thinks? Some critics have used her life to try to explain her poetry, and others have tried to explain her life by referring to her poems, which they assume are autobiographical. Emily Dickinson is a passionate poet that expresses herself without barriers. With a diamond hard language that reflects light to the dark and hope, inspiration till the last moment. Emily Dickinson s poetry speaks powerfully to us. It captures her insights and recreates meaningful events in living; it helps us to understand and even to re live our own experiences through her intensity and with her emotional and intellectual clarity. Applying the first limb, the students were presumably aware that subletting was a serious possibility in termination and loss of future rent payments (until a new tenant was found), thus rendering the loss reasonably foreseeable . While the students may argue that the extent of the loss as a full three months of lost rent renders the loss too remote, per H Parsons (Livestock) Ltd v Uttley Ingham, the foreseeability of the extent of the harm is irrelevant where the type of harm was foreseeable (as satisfied above). There are multiple explanations that fall under the psychodynamic categories that explain why a person develops depressive symptoms. Psychoanalysts historically believed that depression was caused by anger converted into self hatred or anger that turns inward. There are accounts of slavery in Babylon, Greece, and Rome, all occurring before the Common Era; but there was a major change during the year 1619 in the way slavery was implemented. This form of slavery was known as chattel slavery. Defined as A civil relationship in which one person has absolute power over the life, fortune, and liberty of another (Legal dictionary.com), chattel slaverytargeted African slaves that were brought over from Africa to the Americas to support the production of crops such as tobacco and cotton. Previous to the year 1619, slavery was used as a way to pay off debt or as seen in Rome it existed to provide everyone with an equal opportunity. In examining the start of chattel slavery I pose three questions: What was the true purpose of chattel slavery, why was chattel slavery only in America and found nowhere else in any point of history, and are there forms of chattel slavery that exist today? Answering these questions will be pivotal in explaining why chattel slavery was constructed. A common misconception that most people have about the word slavery is that it is bad or people tend to think about African slaves walking in chains and being beaten. History has shown and proven numerous account of slavery so how come when we think of slavery we seem to think of the stereotypical slavery (chattel slavery)? The Virginian professor takes a stance on the problems that he has both experienced in his own classroom and observed on campuses, and he approaches each problem in turn, making significant claims which are assigned appropriate blames. His essay, Liberal Arts Lite Entertainment, originally published in 1997, is broken into six sections and begins with his experience at his own universitybefore branching out to all those across the country. Following this is a deduction of studentculture as well as professors. He gives hope to the idea of the acceptance and praising of genius (as opposed to the alienation students endorse so well) towards the end of his essay, narrowing his argument down to a more specific change that could possibly cause a domino effect from individual students to universities across America. The scale of the situation is much too large to be easily fixed, and it is clear that Edmundson s purpose in writing this essay is to inform those who are engulfed in the academic world. More specifically, it seems, he targets professors and higher level students, and even possibly their parents. By singling out these people and making the problem of consumer culture in universities known to those who care exponentially about educating the youth, it is much more likely that Edmundson s argument will trickle down to said youth in the process ... Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Noah and Deucalion were two highly honorable men. These men and their families were the only two men out of thousands to survive a fate that changed mankind forever. Noah was a man from Babylon who feared God and found favor in His sight. Deucalion was a man from Greece who pleased the gods and was able to stay pure in his heart. Both men had many similar attributes and purposes for life, but each had differences that made their stories unique. A commonality in both stories is that mankind harbored evil in their hearts and had no regard for God/Zeus provoking their wraths. According to the Grecian flood story, men became unbearably wicked and no longer lived at peace with each other. They were always at war with each other having no law or safety in the land. The Importance Of War In The Film Paths Of Glory When reoriented by the trauma and darkness of war, wisdom shapes an altered perception of the value of human life, embodying the light of gratitude. The film Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley Kubrick, dealt with the harsh conditions in the trenches during WW1, and is an exploration of dehumanisation. The film discreetly questions the authority of superior officers, and the way in which the hierarchy of the army is depicted. Stephen Kumalo also showed sin and redemption with Gertrude, Stephen Kumalo s sister. Because Gertrude was a prostitute, Stephen Kumalo was outraged by the fact that his sister did such a thing. He sinned as he yells at her, You have shamed us, he says in a low voice, not wishing to make it known to the world. A liquor seller, a prostitution, with a child and you do not know where it is? (Paton 61). He takes his anger out on her as he did not consider how she felt. Telling someone they are a shame to people is not what a family does for each other. This question is most commonly asked at an event filled with a large group of strangers, as an icebreaker. Many would typically answer, George Washington, Ben Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and maybe if someone wants variety they could say someone like Marie Curie. All of these answers are superficial and simply the first historical person that someone could think of. In fact, I know I would have answered with George Washington. He was the first one to my mind, but why? Do I really want to have dinner with George Washington? What would I even talk to him about? I imagine the conversation would go something like this, Me: So uhm, I just wanted to thank you for crossing the Delaware River and stuff, that was pretty amazing and really impacted the rest of our country and our freedoms, thank you. George: Yeah happy to, I m glad I did that too. *Proceed to eat lunch quietly because I don t have questions nor really care. • 42. The Mentality Of Baseball In Fences By August Wilson August Wilson uses baseball ideology to construct the mindset of his protagonist, Troy Maxson, in Fences ; however, Wilson also uses Troy to embody black America in the 50s. The metaphorical and literal significance of baseball is the driving force Troy s subjectivity and ideology. Whether it be comparing death to baseballpitch, warning his son to not strikeout, or complaining about being stuck on first base, Troy uses baseball to explain life to those around him. Ironically, it is baseball that actually leads to Troy s psychic castration. Although Troy was older when he was released from prison and playing in the Negro leagues, racismheld younger players from competing with white Americans and there is no doubt that Troy saw this as what held him back as well. Unable to play in the major leagues bitters Troy s attitude towards life and affects his relationship with his son, Cory, and wife, Rose. While on a micro level, the rules and mechanics of baseball have a negative impact on Troy s mentality, on a macro level Troy s loyalty to the game can be seen as an empowering force for black America in the 50s. The idea of not striking out, and the fetish of the home run is meant to represent the black community s resistance against society s racism during this time. Although the ideology of baseball consumes Troy to the point of his own personal strikeouts, the ideology itself, and who Troy represents, is suppose to represent black America s fight against a racist ... If Michael s ego was developed he would know that having sleepovers with boys would be considered wrong in society s norm. The lack of ability of creating friendships when he was a child could explain why he always surrounded himself with children, and preferred to be in the presence of children than adults. He always stated that children were pure in the heart and less manipulative than adults. The Id of Michael struggled with the ego. • 50. A Summary OfI Wandered Lonely As A Cloud Lost. What a standard term. One that is often associated with a child wandering off in a grocery store, or somebody taking the wrong turn and not arriving at the correct destination. But the trouble is that it is hardly ever associated with anything deeper, such as the human soul. Yet the reality is, everybody s soulis indeed a little bit lost. And if not lost, at least diverted to a path of pure monotony that drives them to forget the importance of the little things in life. An example of this concept is the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloudby William Wordsworth. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker is wandering through life without purpose. He is simply living a life that he no longer feels any form of connection towards. But then he comes across a field of dancing daffodils and his perspective changes entirely to one of pure joy and ease with his life. Through his application of simile, symbolism, and personification, in his work, the speaker makes his poem far more meaningful. The use of these devices helps to shape the poem s central idea, that is when one stops roaming aimlessly through everyday life and pays attention, they can discover the true beauties that are present in the world and learn to appreciate them a little bit more. One of the main figurative language elements that the speaker uses within his poem is a simile. The title of the poem itself, as well as the first line are repeating similes. The speaker uses this component in the lines I wandered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore it is not as easy as I expected it would be. The main reasons that I wanted to do this course was because I ultimately wanted to do to help people. I have learned that many factors come into play in the field of social work, including levels of practice, ethics and critical reflection and self care. While I have been at university and doing the social work course I come to realize that the levels of social work are broken down into three different categories they are micro, mezzo and macro social work, therefore, going from the little picture to the bigger picture stuff which relates to the system theory.
