Polysemy is the state or
phenomenon in which the words
that have more than one meaning
In other words, it can be described
as multiple meanings of words. The
words are considered to be related
etymologically

5. EXAMPLES
Walk with God
The workers threatened to
walk
She walks the tower
We climbed the river
bank safety
There was a bank of
switches on the wall

6. Menurut Saeed (2000:64) polisemi mirip
dengan homonimi, tetapi dalam polisemi ada
relasi makna yang erat antara kata yang
bentuknya dan ucapannya sama.
Contoh: hook ‘kail’ dengan hook ‘pengait’.
