Pluto Change Society
Have you ever thought about how Pluto was a planet and the next day it wasn't? Well, this isn't
uncommon; scientific knowledge changes again and again. Things that we think are facts could
actually just be scientific theories and could have easily been changed. We should acknowledge the
change and see things that have changed like the food scale and the organization of organisms.
Scientist fine new evidence every day and it has a big impact on our society.
To start off, we should acknowledge the change in scientific evidence. You could be a quick google
search away from seeing what has changed and how it impacted our society. For example, it shows
in recent studies that dinosaurs have feathers. According to "The Half–Life of facts", "Scientist ...

Scientist believe that there are still 85% of organisms undiscovered. Many of these species live in
places that are unexplored. Recently scientist have explored the floors of the oceans, eyelids of
humans, hot springs, and even stomachs of humans. Before the 18th century, organisms were
classified into three groups. These groups were those that live on land, those that live in water, and
those that live in the air. Also plants and animals were called by their common names, which lead to
much confusion. According to "The Explosion in What We Know About Life Forms", many
confusions arose from organizing organisms this way, such as, scientist could not be sure whether
two similar organisms that lived in different parts of the world were actually the same creature
called by two separate names. Later in the 18th century, a botanist name Carl Linnaeus created a
new, complex system of taxonomy. In this system, it grouped organisms (from largest to smallest)
into kingdoms, phyla, classes, orders, families, genera, and species. Also in the new complex system
they took the genus and the species of each type of organism to create its name. As scientists learn
more about the animals and plants on earth they have improved the taxonomy system. In the essay
"The Explosion in What We Know About Life Forms" it talks about how scientist have added three

Tyrannosaurus rex
Tyrannosaurus rex means "tyrant lizard king" .It is also called T.Rex abbreviation. The first T. rex
was first found by Barnum Brown in 1902. The first T. rex was found in Hell Creek, Montana, USA,
North America.
Tyrannosaurus rex was a meat–eater about 40 feet (12.4 m) long, about 15–20 feet (4.6–6 m) tall,
and about 5–7 tons in weight. T. rex probably had about 200 bones, roughly the same as us (no one
knows exactly how many it had, since no complete T. Rex Skeletons have been found). About a
dozen T. Rex Skeletons have been found. T. rex 's jaws were up to 4 feet (1.2 m) long and had 50 to
60 thick, conical, bone–crunching teeth that were up to 9 inches (23 cm) long. T. Rex Dung has been
found containing crushed bone – its teeth were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paleontologist's alternative theory is that T. rex scavenged its food from other animals ' kills.
Scavengers need a good sense of smell and means of long–distance locomotion to get to the meat.
There is evidence that T.rex had an acute sense of smell. Also, T. rex 's large legs would provide
ample means of long–distance locomotion. There are arguments against this scavenger hypothesis.
Dr. Kenneth Carpenter found a healed T. Rex Tooth mark on the tail of a hadrosaur (a duck–billed
dinosaur). This is evidence that T. rex was an active predator, and not simply a scavenger. Other
arguments against the scavenger hypothesis are that small eyes do not necessarily imply poor vision.
Birds have relatively small eyes but acute vision. As for T. rex 's puny arms, arms are not necessary
for predation; many predators have no arms at all, like sharks and snakes. As for T. rex's speed, there
were many animals that were slower than T. rex; these would become its prey, not the speedier
types. The coprolite is assumed to be from T. rex because of its huge size.
T. rex lived during the late Cretaceous period, about 85 million to 65 million years ago, toward the
end of the Mesozoic Era, the Age of Reptiles. During this time, the Earth was seismically active;
there were many volcanic eruptions. The supercontinent Pangaea had broken up and the
subcontinents Laurasia and Gondwana were drifting farther apart.

Essay On The American Museum Of Natural History
Museum visitors often admire objects from the past and embrace the artwork without a proper
understanding of the imagery. Viewers react to what they are looking at, comprehend the work
through their own experiences and judge it based on their personal insight of success or failure. The
appreciation of artwork at the American Museum of Natural History, located in New York City has
educated viewers with knowledgeable information on objects from thousands of different artists.
The fossil of a "Tyrannosaurus Rex" and the "Roosevelt Sculpture" are two objects commonly said
to be the most viewed pieces of artwork at the museum. The virtual tour presented generous
information about the history of the objects as well as knowledgeable facts about the artists and
founders. The massive dinosaur to ever exist is mounted in the exhibit hall: Hall of Saurischian
Dinosaurs in a stalking position. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is arguably the most popular and media
exposed dinosaur. The predatory dinosaur is described to have short arms, two fingers, mouth full of
teeth, strong thighs and a powerful tail. The exhibit found in the ... Show more content on

The two pieces of art are original and have detailed work that demonstrates the cultural and the art
history of the separate pieces. Many visitors notice the museum's contribution to two major subjects
in history. The American Museum of Natural History is located in New York City and is one of the
largest museums in the world. The museum was founded in 1869 and is still known to be one of the
most popular and favorable museums throughout the United States. The objects that are displayed
throughout the museum are displayed with many facts based on history. "Art appreciation does not
require knowledge of the historical context of an artwork (or a building). Art history does."

Major Themes In A Sound Of Thunder By Ray Bradbury
Hopefully, you've never been one point off an A because you forgot a homework assignment, like
me. It's one of the worst feelings ever, and what happened to me last year. This story takes it to an
extreme. Named "A Sound of thunder," by Ray Bradbury, this title embellishes the butterfly effect
by having five people go back in time on a dino–hunting safari. Everything is meticulously planned
so the future wouldn't change, but the main character steps on a butterfly and changes everything. A
major theme in "A sound of thunder" is to take great care in major decisions because you don't know
the long–term impacts of them. For one, the main character, Eckels, kicked up dirt with a butterfly,
then he comes back and everything changes, Also foreshadowing using the dinosaur.
Once Travis, the party leader, explains the butterfly effect, it foreshadows that something will set
this in motion: "'And that,' he said, 'is the Path, laid by Time Safari for your use. It floats six inches
above the earth. Doesn't touch so much as one grass blade, flower, or tree. It's an anti–gravity metal.
Its purpose is to keep you from touching this world of the Past in any way. Stay on the Path. Don't
go off it. I repeat. Don't go off. For any reason!'" (Bradbury. l 103–108) This explanation would not
have been included if it were not somehow significant to the theme. It foreshadows what will
happen by describing every aspect of the anti–gravity path, from its location to its purpose. While
some might

Mosasaur Evolution
The dominant oceanic species of the Cretaceous period was the reptilian predator, the Mosasaur. The
Tyrannosaurus Rex of oceanic fauna was a 56 foot behemoth. While there is some debate between
experts about the mosasaur's place in the pecking order of the cretaceous period, it is fairly well
accepted that mosasaurs were in general dominant to the sharks of the same period. This is the
accepted truth because mosasaurs averaged a greater size then the sharks of the time. There are
obviously a few violators of this size disparity but the mosasaur is still believed to have been
dominant. The mosasaur is generally described as being a bit like a cross between a giant monitor
lizard and a snake. Its body was shaped similarly to modern day monitor ... Show more content on

I want to finish up by talking about why we love mosasaur. Mosasaur is the "sexy" marine reptile
species. It was massive, it was predatory, and it was dominant. These are all things that we, as
human beings, love. We love to look at a giant like mosasaur and imagine how terrifying it must
truly have been in life. Unfortunately because of our love for mosasaur and the reasons we love him,
we tend to make it into more than it truly was. For instance in the popular movie Jurassic World we
see a gigantic mosasaurus leap out of the water like an orca to devour a shark. That is just not
accurate. Mosasaurus was far too large to propel itself out of the water like that. Moreover the
mosasaur depicted in Jurassic World was incredibly more gigantic than mosasaur actually was.
Misrepresentation like this has led to mosasaur having a larger than life image to live up to. To give
you an idea of how large Jurassic World's mosasaur was in comparison to actual mosasaur I have
attached Figure 3 on page 6. Another reason that we love mosasaur so much is that we know a lot
about it. The fossil record that exists for mosasaurus is pretty large because of the sheer number of
mosasaurs that existed when they were dominant. There are thousands of remains that have been
found. The first mosasaur skeleton was found in the Netherlands before any dinosaur remains had
been discovered. The discovery of the mosasaur led to a new age of understanding

Personal Narrative: My Trip To The General Store
When I went to the general store to get a sucker, the moment I left the store and put the sucker in my
mouth I began to feel nauseous. Then my vision got blurry and I blacked out. The next moment I
woke up and I realized I wasn't in modern time.
I was in the Jurassic Period. Then I looked around and got scared because there was a huge
Tyrannosaurus Rex looking at me. It was attacked by a Carnosaur. So I ran away and I saw a house
made out of animal hide, and there were dinosaurs by it that had saddles on.
Then I noticed the door was open. There was a caveman looking at me and my clothes. So I went
over to him and said, "Hi".
He said, "Why are you wearing weird clothes?" And I said , "These aren't weird clothes." So I
asked" Why are you

Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossils
In 2005, Palaeontologist Mary Schweitzer and her team made the discovery of finding original soft
tissue, including blood vessels, in a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in Montana. Many of Schweitzer's
fellow scientists insisted that she had been mistaken because of previous theories of how fossils
were preserved. The fossil was buried in a permeable sandstone, where groundwater could get in.
Since organic material is quickly broken down in water, the soft tissue should have decayed quickly
under the conditions. When an animal dies, the soft tissues (skin) decays and disappears over time,
while hard tissues (bone) may gradually obtain minerals from the environment and become fossils.
Evolutionists scrambled to propose a reason on how the soft tissue could have been completely
preserved in pristine condition (Fields, H. 2006) (Morris, D. 2005). The extensive study of bones
from New Zealand's extinct giant Moa bird calculated that the lifespan of DNA should be measured
in thousands, not millions of years. Therefore the unfossilised dinosaur bone is ... Show more

The skin showed evidence of stripes and perhaps soft tissue. Apparently scientists stated that it died
on the banks of Hell's Creek, where its body was rapidly buried under accumulating sediment and
should have been wiped out by the decay process. However, the mineralization had been so rapid
that it is trapped and preserved as the waterlogged soil buried it in before the body could decay
much, thus ensuring preservation. Although fossils containing organic compounds or mummified
soft tissues have been discovered before, the presence of both is extremely rare (National
Geographic News, 2017) (Charles, Q. 2009). The fossilised soft tissues resemble those seen in
modern birds and crocodilians supporting the hypothesis that modern birds and crocodiles are
descended from dinosaurs (Switek, B.

1. The marble halls were deserted for the day, as the hours were over. Everyone had deserted the two
buildings, and the lights were out, shrouding A–1 and A–2 in darkness. However, one scientist, in C–
5 stayed late, as his thirst of knowledge about the Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA he was given could not
be satisfied, So he stayed behind while his colleagues went off. He glanced into his microscope,
looking into the sample, scrutinizing it. His microscope was state of the art made up of a lightweight
skeleton of titanium, outfitted with carbon fiber and LED lights. He didn't know who made it, he
was given it by a scientist in S–9 for his 30th year in service. He gave meticulous strokes of the skin
sample, looking for an mismatched strand Of DNA. Finally, after hours of staring into the glass lens,
and to no avail, he departed from The Facility. 2. D–38502 didn't know what was happening. He
knew where he was, for sure. He may have been new to The Facility, but he knew about it. He read

days of testing on it. Finally, it had some modifications, which we were about to find out about. It

The Black Hills Institution Of South Dakota
The Black Hills Institution in South Dakota has the rights to own Sue. They found her, claimed her,
and even paid for her, meaning that the government should have nothing to do with who the owns
her.
In 1990, at the Ruth Mason Dinosaur Quarry in South Dakota, paleontologist Susan Hendrickson
Ph.D., discovered some fossil bones on the side of a cliff. Her co–worker and one of the founders of
The Black Hill Institution, Peter Larson, a paleontologist, helped uncover what was known as a
Tyrannosaurus rex. It was named Sue, after Hendrickson. Sue was the only Tyrannosaurus Rex to be
completed 80%, compared to the others found, being less then 40% complete (Hendrickson Ph.D.
and Larson). Maurice Williams, the property owner of where the excavation took place, was offered
$5,000 from The Black Hill Institution. He accepted the offer with hopes of Sue one day being in a
museum (Webster). After 17 days of excavating Sue, was taken to Hill City, South Dakota where the
Black Hills Institution was located (Hendrickson Ph.D. and Larson).
The Black Hills Institution crew was very careful when transporting and Sue to Hill City. After
arriving, the crew worked hard and carefully on preserving Sue and avoiding to make any mistakes.
The people who worked on her when removing rocks and minerals from around the fossil were
considered one of the best paleontologists even though they did not have a Ph.D. This said by
Phillip Manning Ph.D. It was see y many that the Black Hills Institution knew

Tyrannosaurus Rex Was a Slow Runner Essay
Tyrannosaurus Rex Was a Slow Runner
Ever since we were young we have been fascinated by the dinosaurs. We have played with dinosaurs
as children, watched documentaries as adults with interest, and watching movies with enjoyment.
No dinosaur from the past strikes more fear in the present day to the average person then that of
Tyrannosaurus Rex. For decades children have played with dinosaurs and had T–Rex dominating
other dinosaurs by chasing them down and destroying them. We have seen it time and time again in
movies. In Jurassic Park we saw T–Rex terrorize humans, cars, and other dinosaurs. We have even
dreamt about it, but if a recent study is correct we are false in our fears.
The article Tyrannosaurus Rex was a Slowpoke by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It states that it is one that, "uses equations from physics and biology to calculate the amount of leg
muscle an animal needs to remain balanced during fast two–legged running," and applied it to
dinosaurs, most notably Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The study as it applied to T–Rex was extremely complex. In their own words Hutchinson and Garcia
describe the way they did their study by saying, "we demonstrate a method of gauging running
ability by estimating the minimum mass of extensor (supportive) muscle needed for fast running."
(Hutchinson) The authors introduced, "an approach based on estimates of the minimum muscles
needed for fast running" (Biewener). They took their methods and first applied them to relatives of
bipedal dinosaurs still living today and then they estimated, "the limb muscle mass of extinct
animals," and quantified, "their locomotive performance" (Biewener). From this information the
authors of the study then, "estimated body and segment mass, worked out areas of muscle
attachment, and deduced the forces and moments that the creature's leg muscles could have
generated" (Biewener) The study came about because, "uncertainties about tyrannosaur anatomy,
physiology, and behavior have impeded resolution of this debate," and because, "earlier quantitative
assessments of the biomechanics of Tyrannosaurus suggested that it had limited locomotor
performance"(Hutchinson). Now that we know how the study came about and how it was carried
out, we

Short Story 'A Sound Of Thunder'
In the short story "A sound of Thunder" the main character Eckels decides he wants to go back to
the future and shoot a Tyrannosaurus rex. Mr. Travis, his Safari Guide in the past takes him sixty
million years to shoot this dinosaur, and he has explained all the rules and the penalties if he does
disobey them. As the story goes on, all the events that happen helps the audience foreshadow that
somehow Eckels will end up dying.
They explained to Eckles that if anything happens to him, that they were not responsible for it, they
also had him sign a release paper. He was also told that last year there were six Safari leaders, and a

floated six inches above Earth. "Doesn't touch so much as one grass blade, flower, or tree. It's an

families of the families of the families of that one mouse! With a stamp of your foot, you annihilate

Personal Narrative Essay-Creative Writing : A Beautiful...
I woke up to the sound of crashing ocean waves, and the soft, fluffy feel of sand. Even though the
loud yet peaceful sound of the ocean was almost the only thing I could hear, I heard the soft ¨PIT–
PAT¨ of teeny foot steps before they suddenly sped up and went another direction. Then, everything
that was happening sunk in, and I opened my eyes to see a beautiful island. I didn't remember where
I was, or how I had gotten here, or anything else for that matter. The only thing I could remember
was my name.
After I opened my eyes, I got up to my feet and realized that I felt this itchy, scratchy feeling on my
wrist. I looked down to see some sort of glowing implant in it! I scratched at it a little before I
decided it was pointless, and that it was a good idea to get moving. I was thinking about my next
move, when I got an empty feeling in my stomach. I needed to find something to eat and find it fast
because if I didn't, I'd be stuck without food for the night. Water was another thought that had
crossed my mind, along with the possibility of freezing to death over the night. As I was looking for
food, I thought of how I could kill three birds with one stone, and an idea came to mind.
I quickly ran over to a grove of bushes that were covered in berries. I could eat the berries for my
thirst and hunger problems, and then use the fibers from the bushes to mend together some thin

Why Did The T Rex Cross The Road?
Why Did The T–Rex Cross the Road? Because Chickens Hadn't Evolved Yet!
The Discovery of the "new" T–Rex occurred during the blistering heat of a Ganzhou summer by a
construction worker in the city. Obviously, it was not a paleontological expedition, but it quickly
turned into one after the worker's backhoe slammed into a rock–hard barrier. Though the man likely
assumed it would be a major inconvenience for his job (such as bedrock or pipes), but he was in for
quite the surprise. Amidst the dusty, dirty air, the skeletal remains of a new species of Tyrannosaurus
Rex lay idly by– just waiting to be discovered. That is right, the Qianzhousaurus Sinensis, in all the
glory of its long snout, was revealed completely by accident.
Paleontologists were aware of the T–Rex and other similar dinosaurs for quite some time, but were
unable to actually put together how and where they evolved from. There were questions that went
unanswered because of a severe lack of uncovered fossils. It was very recently that the fossils were
unearthed, and it has filled the cracks of the unfinished puzzle ever since. So, is the Tyrannosaur
famous merely because of the mystery of its evolution, or was it because of the dinosaur itself?
Those questions are answered thoroughly in the article. The original discovery of the T–Rex was
more than a century ago, but the unique creature has still managed to remain the main attraction in
the dinosaur world. The reason stems from the creature's mysterious

The Scene Opens On A Watering Hole
The scene opens on a watering hole in the late Cretaceous period. There are herbivores grazing on
the plants, and the drinking the water. Suddenly loud footsteps can be heard. The Tyrannosaurus rex,
the king of the dinosaurs, is coming over the hill, and the sounds of his footsteps make all the other
dinosaurs scatter. Despite not being the biggest dinosaur, the Tyrannosaurus rex is undisputedly the
fiercest, and through the discovery of many fossils, Hollywood and scientists have made this
carnivore the most famous of all the dinosaurs. Even the name Tyrannosaurus rex shows this
dinosaur's dominance; Tyrannosaurus is Greek for "tyrant lizard," and rex is Latin for "king." So the
Tyrannosaurus rex is literally the "King of the Tyrant Lizards" (Smithsonian). There is a lot to learn
about the Tyrannosaurus rex. This paper will discuss many things about this dinosaur, including
where and when were its earliest discoveries, what is believed the Tyrannosaurus rex looked like,
and what its dietary habits were. It will also be addressing when the Tyrannosaurus rex was alive,
where it lived when it was alive, some of the most famous specimens found, where one can visit
these famous specimens, and why it is beneficial for scientists to learn about the Tyrannosaurus rex.

The Lost World By Sir Conan Doyle
Dinosaurs went extinct on Earth 65 million years ago, and the only remnants of these colossal beasts

is apart of some new species of lizard. This was found by a local scientist on the beaches of
Venezuela. This creature has the appearance of a lizard, but it almost reminds you of a bird. There is
no conclusive evidence on where this animal was from." "Interesting," I said to myself. This whole
situation sounded somewhat familiar, it sounded like a book I read, but it was impossible. To give
myself some peace of mind, I go to my bookshelf and pull out Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's, The Lost
World. I skim through some of the book and I gasped when it said something about Venezuela. "This
couldn 't be real," I said to myself. I find my cell phone on my couch and quick call my
paleontologist friend and colleague Dr. Stark. I ask if he had seen the news footage of the new
animal and he said, "I have been looking into this for a while now(The animals in Venezuela), and I

which means terrible lizard. But they weren't exactly lizards. Lizards are one type of reptile and
dinosaurs are another type. Not all dinosaurs were giants. Some dinosaurs were no bigger than small
dogs. The smallest kind was about the size of a chicken.
No human being has seen a living dinosaur but, scientists have many ways of learning about them.
One important way is by studying fossils. Fossils give scientists a vast amount of information about

When a plant or animal dies its stores of carbon–14 begins to get depleted because like all
radioactive elements, carbon–14 loses its atoms over a period of time. Its half–life is 5,568 years.
Half–life is a period over which a sample of radioactive element loses about half the number of its
atoms. Sample of carbon–14 loses half the number of its atoms in a span of 5,568 years.
The older the fossil the less carbon–14 it contains. But radiocarbon dating can be used to study
fossils that are up to about 40,000 years old. For fossils older than this, other method which uses
other radioactive elements such as uranium, rubidium, etc. are used. These can accurately determine
the age of fossils that are billions of years old.
The geological time scale has been worked out by the paleontologists. The chief divisions in scales
are eras, periods and epochs. The eras are the largest of the scale divisions. The major eras were
Paleozoic era, Mesozoic era and the Cenozoic era. Among these the Mesozoic era is also called the
age of reptiles and is divided into three periods: The Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. The Jurassic
period was dominated by dinosaurs. They ruled the land, sea and the air during this period. They
were like the kings.
‘T–Rex' means Tynnosaurus rex, most ferocious of all the dinosaurs. The name means tyrant–lizard
king. It was so scary and so huge. Tynnosaurus stood nearly 3 meters high at the hips and grew
about 13 meters long.

channels of fish lined along with mangrove forests.(5) Spinosaurus is way bigger than the biggest of
Tyrannosaurus. It ate anything that was alive in the waters – including fishes, crocodiles and other
land animals. There were a skull, claws, and bones that formed the sail on its back. If we take a
closer look on the skull of Spinosaurus we could see that it has a small nostrils midway up the snout,

Similarities Between The Sound Of Thunder And The Veldt
The short stories both written by Ray Bradbury "A Sound of Thunder" and "The Veldt" share many
similarities as well as differences. "A Sound of Thunder" is about a man that assumes the name Mr.
Eckels who goes on an expedition sixty–five million years into the past to hunt dinosaurs. When
they are hunting they cross paths with A Tyrannosaurus rex. Eckels and the others kill the reptile and
Eckels becomes traumatized. He then proceeds by stepping on a path a crushes a butterfly under his
boot accidentally. He doesn't find out until he gets back to the future to see a new timeline. "The

The symbolized inferior butterfly has been killed by a more superior human. Killing a butterfly
doesn't usually come to people as a huge occurrence but this really is a small event turned major
because it alters the future timeline. The theme of this story is a metaphor on society because in the
post–world war era this was an important message, one action from a high ranking official, or even a
small person doing a dangerous deed could most definitely cause panic and have far greater impact
on society, just as the two World Wars did.
A theme in "The Veldt" is based around the thought of technology and human nature. A recurring
theme in the story is that human nature can be changed because of how technology is used, it can be
detrimental or advantageous. The way that it is portrayed as in the story is that it is pernicious. One
of the important symbols in the story is the African veldt or more specifically the lions in the veldt.
A quote from the text is, "And here were the lions now, fifteen feet away, so real, so feverishly and
startlingly real that you could feel the prickling fur on your hand, and your mouth was stuffed with
the dusty upholstery smell of their heated pelts, and the yellow of them was in your eyes like the
yellow of an exquisite French tapestry, the yellows of lions and summer grass, and the sound of the
matted lion lungs exhaling on the silent noontide, and the smell of meat from the panting, dripping
mouths" (Bradbury 2). Ray

Summary Of A Sound Of Thunder And Nethergrave
Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder" and Skurzynski's "Nethergrave" are both pretty interesting stories.
Both stories relate to an adventure through a world that is unknown as the setting, and refer to the
way that technology can change the world , in extension, and individual. Both stories contain some
of the same elements as each other, but they are put out in different ways. To start, both of the main
characters Eckels in "A Sound of Thunder" and Jeremy in "Nethergrave", the story starts out with
Jeremy at school, and he makes a winning goal in soccer for the other team. He talks about his bad
reputation and experiences at school and him being bullied but by then you know he's a misfit. As
for in " A Sound of Thunder," Eckels is revealed to be a misfit to all of the other hunters when he get
face to face with a Tyrannosaurus Rex and just runs of in complete fear. These simple events will
help you know the characterization within the rest of the story. As you get deeper into the story, the
books do a good job of making a feeling of future events. In "Nethergrave," Jeremy's friends that he
met online leave him in a way that makes him feel like he has permanent withdrawal. Considering
the feeling Jeremy gets when Nethergrave appears, I believe the author was trying to contrast a
lonely, sad feeling to a euphoric, exited feeling. If that is what they were really trying to do, then the
author succeeded. In "A Sound of Thunder," Eckels talks with the hunters in his group about the
Tyranosaurus Rex and the fear that it gives people and the amount of strength the monster has.
There is a side conversation as well, of what could happen if even a tiny thing were disturbed in the
past to the future. When there is a pretty long conversation like there was in the story about
something that must not happen or they think wont happen, usually happens which makes a plot to
the story. It is these parts of the stories that you can see a big change with the two stories.
The ends of the story are very different from each other in quite a few ways. Let just say there is a
good ending in one story and a bad ending in another. Lets go deeper

Spinosaurus is believed by scientists to be around 50 feet long. This is 9 feet longer than the largest
Tyrannosaurus Rex recorded! The body shape of the Spinosaurus tells scientists that it would be and
aquatic dinosaur, also that the dinosaur would have had trouble walking on land. This is amazing for
a creature of this size! In this article scientists are in one of the richest fossil sites in the world, the
Sahara desert. They discovered one of the largest known predators to ever walk the earth, and
scientists believe the dinosaur was also a good swimmer. This dinosaur

Evolution Of Carnivorous Dinosaurs
This article is about a group of carnivorous dinosaurs with abrasive, jagged teeth that eventually
transformed into beaks. Over millions of years later these bloodthirsty dinosaurs evolved into
today's vibrant, feathered birds. These birds instead have teeth along with beaks, rather than saw–
like teeth alone. Yet, how the transformation occurred is still a mystery. However, the Proceedings of
the National Academy of Sciences issued a study that provides a theory to the evolutionary
mechanism behind the transition. An evolutionary biologist, Amy Balanoff, believes the evidence of
evolution shows transformation from a Tyrannosaurus rex to a pigeon. She used fossils along with a
large comparative analysis of modern animals and a team of other ... Show more content on

In addition, they found that beaked animals' face structure was made of keratin. That substance
made it easy to break through the egg before it fell off shortly after. These groups consisted of birds
and turtles. With these results they added to their hypothesis that the teeth to beak transition
occurred in the earlier stages of development, as in the embryo. The team also incorporated their
new discovery, bone morphogenetic protein 4. They believed this was the reason behind the teeth
not growing and being replaced with a beak. Yet, they do not believe this is the only element to
stopping the growth. With more research they will be able to determine the main cause. A
paleontologist, Stephen Brusatte, reviewed the team's study, agreeing and finding it helpful to
understanding the certain evolution. In my opinion I find this article interesting because it gives a
logical explanation to bird beaks. The theory of birds evolving from early dinosaurs never really
made sense. Balanoff and her team made that theory more believable because their study has
evidence that supports

Mesozoic Vertebrates
Mesozoic vertebrates of Texas have received less attention than Paleozoic. In the early 1900s E. C.
Case collected and reported amphibians and reptiles found in Triassic sediments along the eastern
edge of the High Plains, and Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University has also made important
discoveries there. Notable are skeletons of phytosaurs. These aquatic reptiles, up to thirty feet in
length, had elongated snouts armed with thick, sharply pointed teeth. Their habits were probably
much like those of modern crocodiles. Some lightly armored forms were not unlike crocodiles in
appearance, except for their long, hook–nosed snouts, but some armored types of phytosaurs may
have looked almost like arthropods. Through work centered at the University of Texas at Austin,
parts of the Trans–Pecos region have yielded important fossils of Cretaceous reptiles, among them
enormous crocodiles and the largest known pterosaur. Much of Central Texas probably contains
bones of Cretaceous vertebrates, but the land is so heavily vegetated that discoveries are few.
However, remains of dinosaurs, plesiosaurs, and even primitive mammals have been found and are
preserved at the University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. Fossil vertebrates,
especially mammals, of the middle to late Tertiary and Pleistocene ages abound in Texas. Much of

The Discovery Of The `` New `` T Rex Explosion During The...
The Discovery of the "new" T–Rex occurred during the blistering heat of a Ganzhou summer by a
construction worker in the city. Obviously, it was not a paleontological expedition but it quickly
turned into one after the worker's backhoe slammed into a rock–hard barrier.
It was very recent that the fossils were
unearthed, and it has been filling the cracks of the unfinished puzzle ever since. So, is the
Tyrannosaur famous merely because of the mystery of its evolution, or was it because of the
dinosaur itself? Those questions are answered thoroughly in the article. The original discovery of the
T–Rex was more than a century ago, but the unique creature has still managed to remain the main
attraction in the dinosaur world. The reason stems from the creature's mysterious family tree. The
mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex is unlike any other dinosaur

How Did The Tyrannosaurus Exist
The Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the most powerful and prevailing dinosaurs to ever exist. These
large carnivores lived during the late Cretaceous Period, which was about 66 million years ago.
They roamed the lands of which is now present day western North America. Its name comes from
the Greek and Latin origins, the word 'tyrannosaurus' meaning 'tyrant lizard' in Greek, and 'rex'
meaning 'king' in Latin. The infamous T–Rex had a very unique body structure. A massive 5–foot
long skull, tiny 3–foot long arms, and an elongated tail to balance the whole body out were not
common features among ferocious predators.
The Tyrannosaurus rex was known for being one of the largest dinosaurs that ever existed. Its full

Their large size was advantageous when it came to getting around and was the main reason why it
was an apex predator. The T–Rex's main diet consisted of herbivorous dinosaurs such as triceratops
and edmontosaurus. It was easily able to hunt these because of its overpowering size and strength.
The T–Rex's tail was long and heavy in order to balance the dinosaur's massive head and torso. To
support an animal so large in size, a lot of its bones were hollow in order to reduce its weight but not
enough where it would lose strength.
Some may argue that the T–Rex's unusual anatomy was detrimental to its survival during the
Cretaceous era but it actually quite the opposite. One thing the T–Rex is known for its massive
disproportionate head, which seems useless but in reality, it helped it become a successful predator
and scavenger. "From its thick, heavy skull to its 4–foot–long

Similarities And Differences Between Dinosaurs,...
For years, many discoveries and assumptions have been made about dinosaurs. All around the
world, new dinosaur fossils are found and paleontologist continued to be baffled and amazed at the
traits these creatures possessed. Naturally, researchers ask questions about the newly–discovered
fossils. Was this dinosaur aquatic? Is it a herbivore or a carnivore? Did it take care of its young?
There are many theories based on the appearance of fossils and what they can tell us by studying the
modern day animals. Basically, it all comes down to what can the physical traits of these dinosaurs
tell us about its behavior? In my research, I analyze articles about the different traits that three of the
carnivorous dinosaurs; Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and T–Rex possessed that made them seem
like the top hunters of their time period. I researched how each of their unique attributes could have
affected their behavior and how that could have played a role in their environment. Although,
Spinosaurus, T–Rex and Giganotosarus have been known as the apex predators of their time period,
their behavior is mostly assumed by what their traits tell us.
Spinosaurus's behavior is assumed to be that of a semi–aquatic predator. According to the article

animal such as ". . .its skull's ability to attack or grab prey under water through dorsoventral

Jurassic Park, By John Hammond Essay
From the very first, "Welcome to Jurassic Park," given by John Hammond, audiences have been
captivated with the idea of dinosaurs. Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park series has a plethora of strong
female characters, from Dr. Ellie Sattler to the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex herself. In 2015, the
blockbuster film Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, hit theaters, adding itself to the
dinosaur lineage. The plot takes place twenty–two years after the first film.
The park has now reopened, and there is no room for error, especially with the women depicted in
the movie. Jurassic Park has a reputation of giving audiences strong female characters – both human
and dinosaur. With Jurassic World comes a whole set of new characters, new creatures, and new
couture. However, despite modern advances with feminism, Jurassic World does not quite meet the
standards Jurassic Park first presented in 1993. While World definitely does have feminist attributes,
and even has elements of the femme fatale, the film takes a long step backwards from the first film.
Fans from the beginning of the series will automatically know that all the dinosaurs in
Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are female. They will also remember Ian Malcolm's realization:
"God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates
dinosaurs," which is quickly followed up by Ellie saying, "Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the
Earth," followed by a worried look from Malcolm and a smile

North Carolina managed to recreate the first dinosaur embryo. According to the experts, the DNA of
the pregnant Tyrannosaurus Rex was preserved in marvelous conditions. They used the DNA and
inserted it into chicken skin cells. In fact, chickens are the modern relatives of this dinosaur. The

about the chicken–dinosaur hybrid. They said that the created embryo is not completely a dinosaur.
It is a genetically modified hybrid of a T–Rex and a chicken. Actually, it is not possible to create a
100% dinosaur, because the DNA samples that are available are very limited. However, the
combination of the T–Rex's DNA with the skin cells of the chicken made it possible to create the
embryo. The scientists hope that the embryo will survive till birth and will have no defects. If this
happens, the scientists don't know what to expect. Their research till now has showed that the hybrid
embryo grows in rates that are abnormal when compared with a normal chicken embryo. After only
3 days, the embryo was more than 60 times bigger than an average embryo of a chicken. The

The Cretaceous Er The Last And Longest Segment Of The...
According to a live science, an article written by Mary Bagley, "The Cretaceous Period was the last
and longest segment of the Mesozoic Era. It lasted approximately 79 million years, from the minor
extinction event that closed the Jurassic Period about 145.5 million years ago to the Cretaceous–
Paleogene extinction event dated at 65.5 million years ago"(Mary Bagley, LS). In the cretaceous
period, the continent of Pangea was still breaking away from itself, forming what we now know as
the seven world continents. In the many eras of dinosaurs, the cretaceous era was responsible for
evolving some, but not all the dinosaurs from full land dinosaurs to some who were able to live both
on land and in water, semi–aquatic carnivorous dinosaurs. This era had produced some of the
dinosaurs that maybe us non– paleontologist are more familiar with like the all mighty
tyrannosaurus rex or the long neck. Well let me tell you, there were a lot more dinosaurs than just
those two. Although the tyrannosaurs rex was an enormous dinosaur, a bigger dinosaur was
discovered in 1912, the Spinosaurus. This discovery would change peoples, kids, and
paleontologists view on which dinosaur was bigger than the other. This semi–aquatic dinosaur,
Spinosaurus, was much larger than the T–rex due to its sail like backbones that stuck out of its back.
Furthermore, spinosaurus had a huge advantage that the tyrannosaurus–rex did not.

Imagery In A Sound Of Thunder By Ray Bradbury
In the short story "A Sound of Thunder" Ray Bradbury tells the story about Eckles, a man wanting
to time travel back to the Mesozoic Era, the age of the dinosaurs. He wants to hunt the gigantic

Throughout the story Ray Bradbury's imagery involves us in the plot. Our author provides us with
"The Machine howled. Time was a film run backward. Suns fled, and ten million moons fled around
them." (73) He makes it seem like we were actually traveling with Eckles to the Mesozoic era.
When Eckles encountered the Tyrannosaurus Rex he was astonished by the "...great oiled, resilient,
striding legs... [that] towered over thirty feet above half the trees..."(77) The author puts us in
Eckles' position making us see the monster right before our eyes. The major point in the plot was
when Eckles contravened the most important rule "Eckles, not looking back, walked blindly to the
edge of the path, his gun limp in his arms, stepped off the path, and walked, not knowing it, in the
jungle." (78) The imagery and the details the author contributes helps us perceive the crucial points

Pluto Change Society

  • 1. Pluto Change Society Have you ever thought about how Pluto was a planet and the next day it wasn't? Well, this isn't uncommon; scientific knowledge changes again and again. Things that we think are facts could actually just be scientific theories and could have easily been changed. We should acknowledge the change and see things that have changed like the food scale and the organization of organisms. Scientist fine new evidence every day and it has a big impact on our society. To start off, we should acknowledge the change in scientific evidence. You could be a quick google search away from seeing what has changed and how it impacted our society. For example, it shows in recent studies that dinosaurs have feathers. According to "The Half–Life of facts", "Scientist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientist believe that there are still 85% of organisms undiscovered. Many of these species live in places that are unexplored. Recently scientist have explored the floors of the oceans, eyelids of humans, hot springs, and even stomachs of humans. Before the 18th century, organisms were classified into three groups. These groups were those that live on land, those that live in water, and those that live in the air. Also plants and animals were called by their common names, which lead to much confusion. According to "The Explosion in What We Know About Life Forms", many confusions arose from organizing organisms this way, such as, scientist could not be sure whether two similar organisms that lived in different parts of the world were actually the same creature called by two separate names. Later in the 18th century, a botanist name Carl Linnaeus created a new, complex system of taxonomy. In this system, it grouped organisms (from largest to smallest) into kingdoms, phyla, classes, orders, families, genera, and species. Also in the new complex system they took the genus and the species of each type of organism to create its name. As scientists learn more about the animals and plants on earth they have improved the taxonomy system. In the essay "The Explosion in What We Know About Life Forms" it talks about how scientist have added three new kingdoms, subspecies/varieties (smaller than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Tyrannosaurus rex Tyrannosaurus rex means "tyrant lizard king" .It is also called T.Rex abbreviation. The first T. rex was first found by Barnum Brown in 1902. The first T. rex was found in Hell Creek, Montana, USA, North America. Tyrannosaurus rex was a meat–eater about 40 feet (12.4 m) long, about 15–20 feet (4.6–6 m) tall, and about 5–7 tons in weight. T. rex probably had about 200 bones, roughly the same as us (no one knows exactly how many it had, since no complete T. Rex Skeletons have been found). About a dozen T. Rex Skeletons have been found. T. rex 's jaws were up to 4 feet (1.2 m) long and had 50 to 60 thick, conical, bone–crunching teeth that were up to 9 inches (23 cm) long. T. Rex Dung has been found containing crushed bone – its teeth were ... Also, T. rex 's large legs would provide ample means of long–distance locomotion. There are arguments against this scavenger hypothesis. Dr. Kenneth Carpenter found a healed T. Rex Tooth mark on the tail of a hadrosaur (a duck–billed dinosaur). This is evidence that T. rex was an active predator, and not simply a scavenger. Other arguments against the scavenger hypothesis are that small eyes do not necessarily imply poor vision. Birds have relatively small eyes but acute vision. As for T. rex 's puny arms, arms are not necessary for predation; many predators have no arms at all, like sharks and snakes. As for T. rex's speed, there were many animals that were slower than T. rex; these would become its prey, not the speedier types. The coprolite is assumed to be from T. rex because of its huge size. T. rex lived during the late Cretaceous period, about 85 million to 65 million years ago, toward the end of the Mesozoic Era, the Age of Reptiles. During this time, the Earth was seismically active; there were many volcanic eruptions. The supercontinent Pangaea had broken up and the subcontinents Laurasia and Gondwana were drifting farther apart. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay On The American Museum Of Natural History Museum visitors often admire objects from the past and embrace the artwork without a proper understanding of the imagery. Viewers react to what they are looking at, comprehend the work through their own experiences and judge it based on their personal insight of success or failure. The appreciation of artwork at the American Museum of Natural History, located in New York City has educated viewers with knowledgeable information on objects from thousands of different artists. The fossil of a "Tyrannosaurus Rex" and the "Roosevelt Sculpture" are two objects commonly said to be the most viewed pieces of artwork at the museum. The virtual tour presented generous information about the history of the objects as well as knowledgeable facts about the artists and founders. The massive dinosaur to ever exist is mounted in the exhibit hall: Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs in a stalking position. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is arguably the most popular and media exposed dinosaur. The predatory dinosaur is described to have short arms, two fingers, mouth full of teeth, strong thighs and a powerful tail. The exhibit found in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two pieces of art are original and have detailed work that demonstrates the cultural and the art history of the separate pieces. Many visitors notice the museum's contribution to two major subjects in history. The American Museum of Natural History is located in New York City and is one of the largest museums in the world. The museum was founded in 1869 and is still known to be one of the most popular and favorable museums throughout the United States. The objects that are displayed throughout the museum are displayed with many facts based on history. • 7. Major Themes In A Sound Of Thunder By Ray Bradbury Hopefully, you've never been one point off an A because you forgot a homework assignment, like me. It's one of the worst feelings ever, and what happened to me last year. This story takes it to an extreme. Named "A Sound of thunder," by Ray Bradbury, this title embellishes the butterfly effect by having five people go back in time on a dino–hunting safari. Everything is meticulously planned so the future wouldn't change, but the main character steps on a butterfly and changes everything. A major theme in "A sound of thunder" is to take great care in major decisions because you don't know the long–term impacts of them. For one, the main character, Eckels, kicked up dirt with a butterfly, then he comes back and everything changes, Also foreshadowing using the dinosaur. Once Travis, the party leader, explains the butterfly effect, it foreshadows that something will set this in motion: "'And that,' he said, 'is the Path, laid by Time Safari for your use. It floats six inches above the earth. Doesn't touch so much as one grass blade, flower, or tree. It's an anti–gravity metal. Its purpose is to keep you from touching this world of the Past in any way. Stay on the Path. Don't go off it. I repeat. Don't go off. For any reason!'" (Bradbury. l 103–108) This explanation would not have been included if it were not somehow significant to the theme. It foreshadows what will happen by describing every aspect of the anti–gravity path, from its location to its purpose. While some might ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Mosasaur Evolution The dominant oceanic species of the Cretaceous period was the reptilian predator, the Mosasaur. The Tyrannosaurus Rex of oceanic fauna was a 56 foot behemoth. While there is some debate between experts about the mosasaur's place in the pecking order of the cretaceous period, it is fairly well accepted that mosasaurs were in general dominant to the sharks of the same period. This is the accepted truth because mosasaurs averaged a greater size then the sharks of the time. There are obviously a few violators of this size disparity but the mosasaur is still believed to have been dominant. The mosasaur is generally described as being a bit like a cross between a giant monitor lizard and a snake. Its body was shaped similarly to modern day monitor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to finish up by talking about why we love mosasaur. Mosasaur is the "sexy" marine reptile species. It was massive, it was predatory, and it was dominant. These are all things that we, as human beings, love. We love to look at a giant like mosasaur and imagine how terrifying it must truly have been in life. Unfortunately because of our love for mosasaur and the reasons we love him, we tend to make it into more than it truly was. For instance in the popular movie Jurassic World we see a gigantic mosasaurus leap out of the water like an orca to devour a shark. That is just not accurate. Mosasaurus was far too large to propel itself out of the water like that. Moreover the mosasaur depicted in Jurassic World was incredibly more gigantic than mosasaur actually was. Misrepresentation like this has led to mosasaur having a larger than life image to live up to. To give you an idea of how large Jurassic World's mosasaur was in comparison to actual mosasaur I have attached Figure 3 on page 6. Another reason that we love mosasaur so much is that we know a lot about it. The fossil record that exists for mosasaurus is pretty large because of the sheer number of mosasaurs that existed when they were dominant. There are thousands of remains that have been found. The first mosasaur skeleton was found in the Netherlands before any dinosaur remains had been discovered. The discovery of the mosasaur led to a new age of understanding ... • 11. Personal Narrative: My Trip To The General Store When I went to the general store to get a sucker, the moment I left the store and put the sucker in my mouth I began to feel nauseous. Then my vision got blurry and I blacked out. The next moment I woke up and I realized I wasn't in modern time. I was in the Jurassic Period. Then I looked around and got scared because there was a huge Tyrannosaurus Rex looking at me. It was attacked by a Carnosaur. So I ran away and I saw a house made out of animal hide, and there were dinosaurs by it that had saddles on. Then I noticed the door was open. There was a caveman looking at me and my clothes. So I went over to him and said, "Hi". He said, "Why are you wearing weird clothes?" And I said , "These aren't weird clothes." So I asked" Why are you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossils In 2005, Palaeontologist Mary Schweitzer and her team made the discovery of finding original soft tissue, including blood vessels, in a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in Montana. Many of Schweitzer's fellow scientists insisted that she had been mistaken because of previous theories of how fossils were preserved. The fossil was buried in a permeable sandstone, where groundwater could get in. Since organic material is quickly broken down in water, the soft tissue should have decayed quickly under the conditions. When an animal dies, the soft tissues (skin) decays and disappears over time, while hard tissues (bone) may gradually obtain minerals from the environment and become fossils. Evolutionists scrambled to propose a reason on how the soft tissue could have been completely preserved in pristine condition (Fields, H. 2006) (Morris, D. 2005). The extensive study of bones from New Zealand's extinct giant Moa bird calculated that the lifespan of DNA should be measured in thousands, not millions of years. Therefore the unfossilised dinosaur bone is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The skin showed evidence of stripes and perhaps soft tissue. Apparently scientists stated that it died on the banks of Hell's Creek, where its body was rapidly buried under accumulating sediment and should have been wiped out by the decay process. However, the mineralization had been so rapid that it is trapped and preserved as the waterlogged soil buried it in before the body could decay much, thus ensuring preservation. Although fossils containing organic compounds or mummified soft tissues have been discovered before, the presence of both is extremely rare (National Geographic News, 2017) (Charles, Q. 2009). The fossilised soft tissues resemble those seen in modern birds and crocodilians supporting the hypothesis that modern birds and crocodiles are descended from dinosaurs (Switek, B. ... • 15. Short Story: Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA 1. The marble halls were deserted for the day, as the hours were over. Everyone had deserted the two buildings, and the lights were out, shrouding A–1 and A–2 in darkness. However, one scientist, in C– 5 stayed late, as his thirst of knowledge about the Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA he was given could not be satisfied, So he stayed behind while his colleagues went off. He glanced into his microscope, looking into the sample, scrutinizing it. His microscope was state of the art made up of a lightweight skeleton of titanium, outfitted with carbon fiber and LED lights. They found her, claimed her, and even paid for her, meaning that the government should have nothing to do with who the owns her. In 1990, at the Ruth Mason Dinosaur Quarry in South Dakota, paleontologist Susan Hendrickson Ph.D., discovered some fossil bones on the side of a cliff. Her co–worker and one of the founders of The Black Hill Institution, Peter Larson, a paleontologist, helped uncover what was known as a Tyrannosaurus rex. It was named Sue, after Hendrickson. Sue was the only Tyrannosaurus Rex to be completed 80%, compared to the others found, being less then 40% complete (Hendrickson Ph.D. and Larson). Maurice Williams, the property owner of where the excavation took place, was offered $5,000 from The Black Hill Institution. He accepted the offer with hopes of Sue one day being in a museum (Webster). After 17 days of excavating Sue, was taken to Hill City, South Dakota where the Black Hills Institution was located (Hendrickson Ph.D. and Larson). The Black Hills Institution crew was very careful when transporting and Sue to Hill City. After arriving, the crew worked hard and carefully on preserving Sue and avoiding to make any mistakes. The people who worked on her when removing rocks and minerals from around the fossil were considered one of the best paleontologists even though they did not have a Ph.D. This said by Phillip Manning Ph.D. It was see y many that the Black Hills Institution knew ... • 19. Tyrannosaurus Rex Was a Slow Runner Essay Tyrannosaurus Rex Was a Slow Runner Ever since we were young we have been fascinated by the dinosaurs. We have played with dinosaurs as children, watched documentaries as adults with interest, and watching movies with enjoyment. No dinosaur from the past strikes more fear in the present day to the average person then that of Tyrannosaurus Rex. For decades children have played with dinosaurs and had T–Rex dominating other dinosaurs by chasing them down and destroying them. We have seen it time and time again in movies. In Jurassic Park we saw T–Rex terrorize humans, cars, and other dinosaurs. We have even dreamt about it, but if a recent study is correct we are false in our fears. It states that it is one that, "uses equations from physics and biology to calculate the amount of leg muscle an animal needs to remain balanced during fast two–legged running," and applied it to dinosaurs, most notably Tyrannosaurus Rex. The study as it applied to T–Rex was extremely complex. In their own words Hutchinson and Garcia describe the way they did their study by saying, "we demonstrate a method of gauging running ability by estimating the minimum mass of extensor (supportive) muscle needed for fast running." (Hutchinson) The authors introduced, "an approach based on estimates of the minimum muscles needed for fast running" (Biewener). They took their methods and first applied them to relatives of bipedal dinosaurs still living today and then they estimated, "the limb muscle mass of extinct animals," and quantified, "their locomotive performance" (Biewener). From this information the authors of the study then, "estimated body and segment mass, worked out areas of muscle attachment, and deduced the forces and moments that the creature's leg muscles could have generated" (Biewener) The study came about because, "uncertainties about tyrannosaur anatomy, physiology, and behavior have impeded resolution of this debate," and because, "earlier quantitative assessments of the biomechanics of Tyrannosaurus suggested that it had limited locomotor performance"(Hutchinson). Even though the loud yet peaceful sound of the ocean was almost the only thing I could hear, I heard the soft ¨PIT– PAT¨ of teeny foot steps before they suddenly sped up and went another direction. Then, everything that was happening sunk in, and I opened my eyes to see a beautiful island. I didn't remember where I was, or how I had gotten here, or anything else for that matter. The only thing I could remember was my name. After I opened my eyes, I got up to my feet and realized that I felt this itchy, scratchy feeling on my wrist. I looked down to see some sort of glowing implant in it! I scratched at it a little before I decided it was pointless, and that it was a good idea to get moving. I was thinking about my next move, when I got an empty feeling in my stomach. I needed to find something to eat and find it fast because if I didn't, I'd be stuck without food for the night. Water was another thought that had crossed my mind, along with the possibility of freezing to death over the night. As I was looking for food, I thought of how I could kill three birds with one stone, and an idea came to mind. I quickly ran over to a grove of bushes that were covered in berries. I could eat the berries for my thirst and hunger problems, and then use the fibers from the bushes to mend together some thin clothes. The Discovery of the "new" T–Rex occurred during the blistering heat of a Ganzhou summer by a construction worker in the city. Obviously, it was not a paleontological expedition, but it quickly turned into one after the worker's backhoe slammed into a rock–hard barrier. Though the man likely assumed it would be a major inconvenience for his job (such as bedrock or pipes), but he was in for quite the surprise. Amidst the dusty, dirty air, the skeletal remains of a new species of Tyrannosaurus Rex lay idly by– just waiting to be discovered. That is right, the Qianzhousaurus Sinensis, in all the glory of its long snout, was revealed completely by accident. Paleontologists were aware of the T–Rex and other similar dinosaurs for quite some time, but were unable to actually put together how and where they evolved from. There were questions that went unanswered because of a severe lack of uncovered fossils. It was very recently that the fossils were unearthed, and it has filled the cracks of the unfinished puzzle ever since. So, is the Tyrannosaur famous merely because of the mystery of its evolution, or was it because of the dinosaur itself? Those questions are answered thoroughly in the article. • 49. Summary Of A Sound Of Thunder And Nethergrave Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder" and Skurzynski's "Nethergrave" are both pretty interesting stories. Both stories relate to an adventure through a world that is unknown as the setting, and refer to the way that technology can change the world , in extension, and individual. Both stories contain some of the same elements as each other, but they are put out in different ways. To start, both of the main characters Eckels in "A Sound of Thunder" and Jeremy in "Nethergrave", the story starts out with Jeremy at school, and he makes a winning goal in soccer for the other team. He talks about his bad reputation and experiences at school and him being bullied but by then you know he's a misfit. As for in " A Sound of Thunder," Eckels is revealed to be a misfit to all of the other hunters when he get face to face with a Tyrannosaurus Rex and just runs of in complete fear. These simple events will help you know the characterization within the rest of the story. As you get deeper into the story, the books do a good job of making a feeling of future events. In "Nethergrave," Jeremy's friends that he met online leave him in a way that makes him feel like he has permanent withdrawal. Considering the feeling Jeremy gets when Nethergrave appears, I believe the author was trying to contrast a lonely, sad feeling to a euphoric, exited feeling. If that is what they were really trying to do, then the author succeeded. In "A Sound of Thunder," Eckels talks with the hunters in his group about the Tyranosaurus Rex and the fear that it gives people and the amount of strength the monster has. There is a side conversation as well, of what could happen if even a tiny thing were disturbed in the past to the future. When there is a pretty long conversation like there was in the story about something that must not happen or they think wont happen, usually happens which makes a plot to the story. It is these parts of the stories that you can see a big change with the two stories. The ends of the story are very different from each other in quite a few ways. Over millions of years later these bloodthirsty dinosaurs evolved into today's vibrant, feathered birds. These birds instead have teeth along with beaks, rather than saw– like teeth alone. Yet, how the transformation occurred is still a mystery. However, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences issued a study that provides a theory to the evolutionary mechanism behind the transition. The team also incorporated their new discovery, bone morphogenetic protein 4. They believed this was the reason behind the teeth not growing and being replaced with a beak. Yet, they do not believe this is the only element to stopping the growth. With more research they will be able to determine the main cause. A paleontologist, Stephen Brusatte, reviewed the team's study, agreeing and finding it helpful to understanding the certain evolution. • 57. Mesozoic Vertebrates Mesozoic vertebrates of Texas have received less attention than Paleozoic. In the early 1900s E. C. Case collected and reported amphibians and reptiles found in Triassic sediments along the eastern edge of the High Plains, and Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University has also made important discoveries there. Notable are skeletons of phytosaurs. These aquatic reptiles, up to thirty feet in length, had elongated snouts armed with thick, sharply pointed teeth. Their habits were probably much like those of modern crocodiles. Some lightly armored forms were not unlike crocodiles in appearance, except for their long, hook–nosed snouts, but some armored types of phytosaurs may have looked almost like arthropods. Through work centered at the University of Texas at Austin, parts of the Trans–Pecos region have yielded important fossils of Cretaceous reptiles, among them enormous crocodiles and the largest known pterosaur. Much of Central Texas probably contains bones of Cretaceous vertebrates, but the land is so heavily vegetated that discoveries are few. However, remains of dinosaurs, plesiosaurs, and even primitive mammals have been found and are preserved at the University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. Fossil vertebrates, especially mammals, of the middle to late Tertiary and Pleistocene ages abound in Texas. • 59. The Discovery Of The `` New `` T Rex Explosion During The... The Discovery of the "new" T–Rex occurred during the blistering heat of a Ganzhou summer by a construction worker in the city. Obviously, it was not a paleontological expedition but it quickly turned into one after the worker's backhoe slammed into a rock–hard barrier. It was very recent that the fossils were unearthed, and it has been filling the cracks of the unfinished puzzle ever since. So, is the Tyrannosaur famous merely because of the mystery of its evolution, or was it because of the dinosaur itself? Those questions are answered thoroughly in the article. The original discovery of the T–Rex was more than a century ago, but the unique creature has still managed to remain the main attraction in the dinosaur world. The reason stems from the creature's mysterious family tree. The mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex is unlike any other dinosaur ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. How Did The Tyrannosaurus Exist The Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the most powerful and prevailing dinosaurs to ever exist. These large carnivores lived during the late Cretaceous Period, which was about 66 million years ago. They roamed the lands of which is now present day western North America. Its name comes from the Greek and Latin origins, the word 'tyrannosaurus' meaning 'tyrant lizard' in Greek, and 'rex' meaning 'king' in Latin. The infamous T–Rex had a very unique body structure. A massive 5–foot long skull, tiny 3–foot long arms, and an elongated tail to balance the whole body out were not common features among ferocious predators. The Tyrannosaurus rex was known for being one of the largest dinosaurs that ever existed. Its full body was measured to be an average of 40 feet in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their large size was advantageous when it came to getting around and was the main reason why it was an apex predator. The T–Rex's main diet consisted of herbivorous dinosaurs such as triceratops and edmontosaurus. It was easily able to hunt these because of its overpowering size and strength. The T–Rex's tail was long and heavy in order to balance the dinosaur's massive head and torso. To support an animal so large in size, a lot of its bones were hollow in order to reduce its weight but not enough where it would lose strength. Some may argue that the T–Rex's unusual anatomy was detrimental to its survival during the Cretaceous era but it actually quite the opposite. One thing the T–Rex is known for its massive disproportionate head, which seems useless but in reality, it helped it become a successful predator and scavenger. • 63. Similarities And Differences Between Dinosaurs,... For years, many discoveries and assumptions have been made about dinosaurs. All around the world, new dinosaur fossils are found and paleontologist continued to be baffled and amazed at the traits these creatures possessed. Naturally, researchers ask questions about the newly–discovered fossils. Was this dinosaur aquatic? Is it a herbivore or a carnivore? Did it take care of its young? There are many theories based on the appearance of fossils and what they can tell us by studying the modern day animals. Basically, it all comes down to what can the physical traits of these dinosaurs tell us about its behavior? In my research, I analyze articles about the different traits that three of the carnivorous dinosaurs; Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and T–Rex possessed that made them seem like the top hunters of their time period. I researched how each of their unique attributes could have affected their behavior and how that could have played a role in their environment. Although, Spinosaurus, T–Rex and Giganotosarus have been known as the apex predators of their time period, their behavior is mostly assumed by what their traits tell us. Spinosaurus's behavior is assumed to be that of a semi–aquatic predator. According to the article "The riddle of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus' dorsal sail", it possessed traits similar to other aquatic animal such as ". . .its skull's ability to attack or grab prey under water through dorsoventral excursions, or its bone density, resembling the degree of ... • 65. Jurassic Park, By John Hammond Essay From the very first, "Welcome to Jurassic Park," given by John Hammond, audiences have been captivated with the idea of dinosaurs. Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park series has a plethora of strong female characters, from Dr. Ellie Sattler to the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex herself. In 2015, the blockbuster film Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, hit theaters, adding itself to the dinosaur lineage. The plot takes place twenty–two years after the first film. The park has now reopened, and there is no room for error, especially with the women depicted in the movie. Jurassic Park has a reputation of giving audiences strong female characters – both human and dinosaur. With Jurassic World comes a whole set of new characters, new creatures, and new couture. However, despite modern advances with feminism, Jurassic World does not quite meet the standards Jurassic Park first presented in 1993. While World definitely does have feminist attributes, and even has elements of the femme fatale, the film takes a long step backwards from the first film. Fans from the beginning of the series will automatically know that all the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are female. They will also remember Ian Malcolm's realization: "God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs," which is quickly followed up by Ellie saying, "Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the Earth," followed by a worried look from Malcolm and a smile ... The scientists retrieved a DNA sample from the soft tissue of this fossil, which is 68 million years old. Then, the researchers from North Carolina managed to recreate the first dinosaur embryo. According to the experts, the DNA of the pregnant Tyrannosaurus Rex was preserved in marvelous conditions. They used the DNA and inserted it into chicken skin cells. In fact, chickens are the modern relatives of this dinosaur. The head researchers explained the connection between chickens and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Even though, we believe that T–Rexes are enormous bipedal reptiles that look like crocodiles, they are the closest relatives to birds and they are even equivalent to today's chickens. ... They said that the created embryo is not completely a dinosaur. It is a genetically modified hybrid of a T–Rex and a chicken. Actually, it is not possible to create a 100% dinosaur, because the DNA samples that are available are very limited. However, the combination of the T–Rex's DNA with the skin cells of the chicken made it possible to create the embryo. The scientists hope that the embryo will survive till birth and will have no defects. If this happens, the scientists don't know what to expect. Their research till now has showed that the hybrid embryo grows in rates that are abnormal when compared with a normal chicken embryo. After only 3 days, the embryo was more than 60 times bigger than an average embryo of a chicken. The scientists remain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. The Cretaceous Er The Last And Longest Segment Of The... According to a live science, an article written by Mary Bagley, "The Cretaceous Period was the last and longest segment of the Mesozoic Era. It lasted approximately 79 million years, from the minor extinction event that closed the Jurassic Period about 145.5 million years ago to the Cretaceous– Paleogene extinction event dated at 65.5 million years ago"(Mary Bagley, LS). In the cretaceous period, the continent of Pangea was still breaking away from itself, forming what we now know as the seven world continents. In the many eras of dinosaurs, the cretaceous era was responsible for evolving some, but not all the dinosaurs from full land dinosaurs to some who were able to live both on land and in water, semi–aquatic carnivorous dinosaurs. This era had produced some of the dinosaurs that maybe us non– paleontologist are more familiar with like the all mighty tyrannosaurus rex or the long neck. Well let me tell you, there were a lot more dinosaurs than just those two. Although the tyrannosaurs rex was an enormous dinosaur, a bigger dinosaur was discovered in 1912, the Spinosaurus. This discovery would change peoples, kids, and paleontologists view on which dinosaur was bigger than the other. This semi–aquatic dinosaur, Spinosaurus, was much larger than the T–rex due to its sail like backbones that stuck out of its back. Furthermore, spinosaurus had a huge advantage that the tyrannosaurus–rex did not. A Paleontologists job is to study their dinosaur discovery, and to tell us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Imagery In A Sound Of Thunder By Ray Bradbury In the short story "A Sound of Thunder" Ray Bradbury tells the story about Eckles, a man wanting to time travel back to the Mesozoic Era, the age of the dinosaurs. He wants to hunt the gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex. Throughout the story Ray Bradbury uses imagery to broaden the plot and divulge the theme. The imagery helps set up all the intricate details our author deems important. The author provides us with enough imagery to develop the characters and foreshadow the plot. Throughout the story Ray Bradbury's imagery involves us in the plot. Our author provides us with "The Machine howled. Time was a film run backward. Suns fled, and ten million moons fled around them." (73) He makes it seem like we were actually traveling with Eckles to the Mesozoic era. When Eckles encountered the Tyrannosaurus Rex he was astonished by the "...great oiled, resilient, striding legs... [that] towered over thirty feet above half the trees..."(77) The author puts us in Eckles' position making us see the monster right before our eyes. The major point in the plot was when Eckles contravened the most important rule "Eckles, not looking back, walked blindly to the edge of the path, his gun limp in his arms, stepped off the path, and walked, not knowing it, in the jungle." (78) The imagery and the details the author contributes helps us perceive the crucial points in plot. When reading the story we have pieces of major foreshadowing, they serve as subtle pushes to notion the thrill of the plot. Eckles is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Persuasive Essay On The Evolution Of Dinosaurs There are still "dinosaurs" around to this day. Most of them are just descendants of the real dinosaurs. Birds are the main species that have been found to be descendants of dinosaurs. "Many shared evolutionary characteristics can be found in the skeletons of birds and other dinosaurs. One can follow the development of these evolutionary innovations by following along the evolutionary tree of dinosaurs from larger groups into successively smaller ones."(Khan Academy.) • 77. 2 Two Favorite Dinosaurs {draw:frame} Millions of years ago, long before there were any people, there were dinosaurs. Dinosaurs were reptiles that lived on Earth from about 225 to 65 million years ago. There were many different sizes and shapes of dinosaurs. Some were meat–eaters and some were plant–eaters. Some dinosaurs were very big and some were much smaller. {draw:frame} A fossil is the remains or trace of something that was once alive, but is now long–gone and dead. No one knows why Stegosaurus had plates... – Did Stegosaurus evolve its thin, tough, roughly triangular plates as a form of defense against larger predators? Were they a sexually selected characteristic, meaning males with bigger plates had a better chance of mating with females? Or could they have been used to regulate this dinosaur 's body temperature? It 's still a mystery. 3. ...or exactly how these plates were arranged* along its back.* – The name Stegosaurus means "roofed lizard," reflecting the belief of 19th–century paleontologists that this dinosaur 's plates lay flat along its back. Various reconstructions have been offered since then, the most convincing of which has the plates alternating in parallel rows (and facing pointy side up) along Stegosaurus ' spine. 4.
