2. PLUMBING
Plumbing system is used for water supply in building .It supplies
water to kitchen toilet outlets via distribution system of pipes.
Drainage system is used to get rid of human wastes through well-
arranged network of drainage pipes.

3. Various System of Plumbing
The plumbing system installed in the building has two main objectives to be served. They
are:
1. Supply of water for the human use
2. To get rid of human waste

• Plumbing system in buildings consists of underground tank which is supplied water via
municipal or water department supply lines, from there with the help of pumps and piping
distribution system water is supplied to overhead tank and thereby due to gravity water
reaches to home outlets
• The advantage of such plumbing system in buildings is that requirement of overhead
tanks is eliminated.
• Secondly these pumps are designed to get the required equal pressure to all floors gets
high pressure due to gravity and more height.

7. DOWNFEED or GRAVITY SYSTEM
•Water is pumped into a large tank on top
of the building and is distributed to the
fixtures by means of gravity.

8. HYDRO PNEUMATIC SYSTEM/ AIR PRESSURE SYSTEM
When pressure supplied by city water
Supply is not strong enough
Compressed air is used to raise and push
Wate rinto the system

9. SANITARY DRAINAGE SYSTEMS
Sanitary systems consist of an assembly of pipes, fixtures, and fittings which gather
and directs sewage to the drainage system and from there it is drained to the sewer..
Drainage System consist of the following:
• Soil Water
• Waste Water.
• Vent Pipe.
• Storm Water.

10. SYSTEMS OF PLUMBING OF DRAINAGE WORK IN A
BUILDING
1. Single stack system:
• Single stack system- combined stack
For soil and waste water with out anti
Siphonage pipe.
• Single stack(partially ventilated)system-via
media between one pipe and single stack

11. 2. ONE PIPE SYSTEM:
• One pipe system In the system all soil and
waste water discharge into one common pipe
and all branch ventilating pipes into one
main ventilating pipe. This system places
the two pipe system and lent it self very well to use
in multi story developments. It is far more
economical than the two pipe system.

12. 3. TWO-PIPE SYSTEM:
• In this plumbing system, two pipes are installed.
W.Cs and urinals are connected to vertical soil
pipe baths, kitchens, basins etc are connected
to another separate vertical waste pipe. Soil
pipes and waste pipes are provided with separate
vent pipes.
• This system thus requires four pipes and hence
proves very costly. The soil pipe is connected to
the drain directly but waste pipe should be
connected through a trapped gully.

13. 4. ONE-PIPE PARTIALLY VENTILATED SYSTEM:
• This system is a via media between the
one-pipe system and the single stack system.
There is only one soil pipe into which all W.Cs,
baths, sinks and wash basins discharge.
In addition, there is a relief vent pipe which
ventilates only the traps of W.Cs and urinals

systems were designed to mimic natural processes and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and forms.
