All the Pretty Horses is a novel about a sixteen year old boy, John Grady Cole. He
lived with his grandfather and worked on a ranch. Soon after the death of his
grandfather, the ranch John lived and worked on was to be sold and John was told
he was going to have to move into town, but he didn t want this to happen. He
decided to skip town and go to Mexico so he persuaded his best friend, Lacey
Rawlins to go along with him. The two boys are joined by another, younger boy,
Jimmy Belvins and they all headed off to Mexico riding horseback. Throughout the
book, the three boys were faced with many difficult situations, one point where
Jimmy Rawlins was executed while the other two boys were imprisoned. The
entire book is pretty much just about the boys journey and the complications they

I think the book has a lot of symbols, many of them dark. One example is all the
blood that was thrown into the book. I noticed that in almost every situation that
Grady was thrown into, there was some kind of blood involved. I think the blood

Marge Piercy s The Secretary Chant uses sounds to show that human emotion can be
filed away and replaced. In John Updike s Player Piano personification is used to
wake up an inhuman piano that plays itself, sort of like the poem itself does when
read aloud. Updike uses assonance and consonance in the first couple of lines to
give musicality to the lines. The devices are first used with a repetition of ick
sounds to mimic the keys on the piano. Onomatopoeia is used throughout the poem

Introduction Since the industrial age, fossil fuels have been used as a source of
energy and power. The fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses.
The products of fossil fuels are mostly Carbon, which is harmful to the environment,

conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean acidification, rising sea levels,
health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems

Mental disorders hold negative assumptions, but yet are the least understood.
Society seems to give little attention to the issues that surround someone with a
mental disorder, which may be because we don t understand this population. This
article urges that this has become an issue in the society. While we tried to
deinstitutionalize those with metal disorders and place them back into society, it
appears as if this might have been the proper action. Suggestions like utilizing
group homes and funding treatment that cares for their needs would be useful

British. The decision was made to replace him as Emir with a former ruler, Shah
Shuja who was considered to be more impressionable.
A British Indian force entered Afghanistan in spring 1839. Kandahar was taken
without a fight and the powerful fortress of Ghazni was seized. Dost Mohammed
fled from Kabul and Shash Shuja was installed as Emir. However, the British could
not afford to keep troops in Kabul indefinitely, and in 1841 preparations were made
to withdraw them. Meanwhile popular opposition to Shah Shuja grew into an
uprising. British diplomats were murdered and the British force lost its grip on the
area.
In January 1842 the Kabul garrison marched out of the city with the promise that it
would be allowed to retreat to India in safety. Instead it came under immediate attack
as it struggled through the cold, mountainous terrain. Only a few survivors escaped.
A national uprising ensued and the British garrison at Jellalabad was besieged until
they were relieved. The relief then linked up with the Kandahar garrison and marched
back to India via Kabul where they rescued some British hostages. This marked the

Through this direct way, the decisions which get decided by a referendum would be
less well thought through and could cause more harm than good to the British
politics because the general public is less likely to actually have access to
knowledge needed to fully understand the issue at hand, unlike the professional
elected politicians. These politicians also protect the minorities in their constinuents
via the constitution. A referendum would undermine the rights of those protected

referendums are undermining the sovereignty of Parliament over the UK but it also
makes the British constitutionn look inflexible when it comes to deciding over
matters of Scotland and Wales. And if favourably popular enough, a referendum can
establish a second goverment within the UK which it eventually does with Scotland.
