Editor's Notes

  1. DepEd recognizes the importance of instructional planning to successful teaching and learning in schools. Teacher as a facilitator of learning inside the classroom plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of quality education.
  2. In line with the implementation of RA 10533 or Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, the Department of Education issued last June, 2016 the Policy Guidelines on Daily Lesson Preparation for the K to 12 Basic Education
  3. Instructional Process(Airasian, 1994) 1.Planning Instruction Teaching begins even before a teacher steps in front of the class and begin a lesson; teachers are expected to organize and develop a plan for teaching 2. Delivery of Instruction implement a plan for teaching 3. Assessment of Learning measure how effectively they implement a plan.
  4. The objective of lesson planning is learning. Say: Some teachers say that they have been teaching the subject for how many years now and they can teach even when their eyes are open… The question is : “Is it necessary for me to make my lesson plan? I can teach without it!”
  5. Why teachers need to plan their lessons?
  6. Using the CG teachers can plan many ways to teach. Each lesson plan should have learner-centered objectives that are aligned to the standards of the curriculum. Teachers can also use many resources such as TGs and LMs from the LRMDS portal, textbooks, and others. But remember, all these should be used resources and not as curriculum. With a lesson plan, teachers can predict which part of the lesson a learner will have a difficulty. By this, teacher can prepare strategies that could help that learners learn. Different strategies must consider the to learning styles, ability, readiness and needs. Effective teachers do not only prepare lesson plan but also prepare assessment plan or formative assessment plan. This refers to the on-going forms of assessment which is linked to the learning process as defined in DO no. 8 s. 2015 entitled Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for K to 1 Basic Education Program
  7. Basically, we need to plan our lessons well to be responsive to learners’ needs, and to ensure the delivery of quality instruction in our classrooms. In planning lessons, teachers can choose from a variety of instructional models, reflecting a teacher’s philosophical orientation to teaching, and their corresponding strategies and methods
  8. Instructional Models
  9. Have you read and understood the policy? What format to use? How do you find the new lesson plan format? Are you using the same lesson plan or not? Why or why not? Are there any concerns in the field that need to be clarified?
  10. What format to use? How do you find the new lesson plan format? Are you using the same lesson plan or not? Why or why not? Are there any concerns in the field that need to be clarified?
  11. Who are required to use dll and who are required to use dlp?
  12. What format to use?
  13. What format to use?
  14. 1. Before then lesson -activate prior knowledge; Be sure the problem is understood, Establish clear expectations. 2. During the lesson- time when the teacher conveys new information thru- modelling, demonstration, etc. which involves processes that eventually learners will internatilize
  15. 3. After the lesson-closing or end of the lesson which can be done thru wrap-up activities; reinforce what the teacher has taught and assess whether the learners have mastered the day’s lesson or not
  16. Teachers need to ensure that the procedures of the lesson lead to the achievement of the stated objectives. The formative assessment methods to be used by the teacher should determine if the objectives of the lesson are being met.
  17. How do you find the new lesson plan format? Are you using the same lesson plan or not?
  18. Group Activity Problem
  19. When you fail to plan, it is almost as if you planned to fail. No one ever succeeds accidentally, success is the result of planning and executing the plan, so if you don’t have a plan, therefore you are eventually fail. Even if you are have the best strategy and you are using the best technology, without the existence of planning, our main objective in teaching which is learning would not take place.
