Description of images I will be using direct address, therefore Yousif will be looking directly at the
camera, with hands folded.
Connotation/
signifiers
I have decided to make him look directly at the camera because this will
grab the audience attention and allow him to build a connection between
him and the audience. He is going to be the only person in this shot
making him the centre focus of the whole front cover. This connotes his
male dominance in the magazine, which is important to make sure what is
being portrayed throughout the magazine is what you want it to be.
Therefore placing him with hands folded and alone show he is confident
and dominate. This also confirms to what I have researched in R&B
magazines. This also signifies he is the main subject of the magazine (cover
story).
Shot/angle The main shot will be medium shot, however I will still be experimenting
other shots such as low angle shot, medium close up shot and long angle
shots with the actor looking directly at the camera.

Description of images I will be using direct address, therefore Yousif will be looking directly at the
camera, with hands together near his mouth. The image will be taken in
black and white.
Connotation/ signifiers I decided to try out this pose because this is what R&B is usually
represented by, therefore as my magazine is all about R&B I wanted to do
something people will instantly recognise it relates to R&B. This pose
conveys the R&B style and shows this artist is all about his music.

Description of images For this image I will be using both indirect address and direct address, his
hands will be folded and down in front of him– I may also try out other
poses e.g. him holding the microphone pretending to sing. The image will
be taken in both black and white and colour.
Connotation/ signifiers Same as image 1- having his hands folded will signify him appearing
assertive and confident, and this links to the R&B style which is most
important to get across to the audience. Also with having his hands in
front of him will signify he is relaxed, causal and confident.

Description of images Same as image 3- however different pose - Yousif will have is hand laid
against his chest, another pose will be him holding the microphone and
pretending to sing – I may also conceder trying out other poses the image
will be taken in both black and white and colour
Connotation/ signifiers This will suggest he is powerful and stand out, it can also suggest loyalty and
this get people thinking it may relate to something inside of the magazine.
Using the microphone in the way will signify maybe he has a new album or
concert coming up this will allow people to buy the magazine to find out
more inside it. This also may suggest it an image from a live concert,
therefore it will create a feeling of curiousness for the audience to wan to buy
the magazine and find out more.

Description of images I will try out both direct and non direct address for this shoot. Yousif will be
standing hands in his pocket. I will also be having a women's hand around
his shoulder.
Connotation/ signifiers This will suggest that his is relaxed, casual and confident. This will relate to
the R&B style as they are often represented as very confident and self
assured people.
Shot/angle Long shot, however I will still be experimenting other shots such as
medium shot.

Description of images Yousif will be looking direct at the camera, sitting on a chair with his hands
on his knees or both of them together.
Second image will be a girl (Estera) standing up facing Yousif.
Connotation/ signifiers It will signify him again as a relaxed, attractive and confident person, as he
is sat down and a women is coming towards him. This shows how
attractive and popular he is, as women are coming to him. This is normally
associated with R&B men.
Shot/angle Yosuif’s shoot- medium shot
Estera’s shoot- I will only be taking pictures of her legs.
