The photographer took photos of a model for a magazine cover using a Nikon D3100 camera mounted on a tripod. They used additional lighting to define tones and textures. The model wore different outfits suitable for the genre of music. Medium shots allowed expression of emotions and body language. The middle photo was the favorite as the model slightly smiled and the shirt suited the genre. The photos followed conventions of magazine covers by being sharp, clean, and having a less formal mode of address suitable for the style.
Nikon D3100 Photoshoot Captures Musician in Different Angles
1. These photographs above were taken on a camera-Nikon D3100. I set up my camera on a steady tripod so that I would get a
better steadiness of the model. I also used a camera light to get the different tones on his body and facial features to create more
definition of the photographs. I chose a range of clothing for my model which I though was suitable for the genre of music. I
used the medium shot each time, the medium shot allows the model to show their emotions and some of their body language to
help aid our understanding. The middle photograph is my favourite of the following selection because I like the shirt as it suits
my genre perfectly and he is slightly smiling which implies that he is enjoying his music.
I think my photos follow the codes
and conventions of a photograph
for a cover because, they are sharp
and clean photographs. Also the
mode of address is not direct
which makes the magazine feel
less formal which suits the style
that I'm following.

2. These photographs below are for my double paged spread. What I
like about these photographs is the way he is positioned, because he
looks casual as oppose to informal. The one on the right is over
exposed due to the lighting, I prefer the one on the left because the
lighting is much more sufficient. And his clothing looks less formal
which is the look I was trying to get across because it links nicely
to my genre of music.
These photographs to
the right are for my
contents page, I still
have to take some
however for that part of
the magazine. I took
these when I went to a
concert in the summer. I
am undecided which
one to use yet but ill
make my decision when
the time comes. My
preference is definitely
the top one because you
can tell it’s a music
concert due to the hands
and the man on the
stage playing his guitar,
it just seems more
obvious.
3. DifferentDifferent
Shot TypesShot Types
I decided to take some more photos, as experiments using the different shot types. As you can see to
the left, I took a full body shot of the model, the use of a full body shot provides an understanding
of what the artist is like due to the style of clothing and the way they stand/pose This models
clothing is fairly suitable for the chosen genre, but not the clothing I would want my model to wear.
This photograph to the right is a close
up of the models face, again this was
just for experimental reasoning to get a
wider variety of shots, as oppose to just
having the same/similar shots all the
time. What I like about this model is the
glow on her face, produced from her
makeup. Her facial expressions help
imply that she is confident as an artist.
However I don’t think I am going to use
this for my magazine because I have
other photographs which I think suit my
magazine more so than these photos.
