The rules are: 1) Provide a straight run of pipe 5-10 times the diameter before any obstructions on the suction side. 2) The inlet and outlet pipes should be at least one size larger than the pump nozzle. 3) Eliminate elbows mounted directly on or close to the inlet side. 4) Eliminate potential for vortices or air entrainment in the suction source. 5) Arrange piping to impose no strain on the pump casing and independently support all piping and fittings without strain on the pump. Following these rules can eliminate chronic problems.

The pipe sprayer consists of two air motors. One drives the body around the
central axis and the second drives the cup. The cup motor is set at an angle
into the body, thus as the cup revolves and body rotates a wobble motion is
set up generating a spray pattern inside the pipe. This wobble-
head action produces a reciprocating
fan pattern which enables coating to reach
the back edges formed by pit etc., in corroded
pipes. This avoids having to go through
the pipe in two directions allowing one coat
application.
Poor pump piping can cause repetitive pump failures for long period
Field fit 5 pipe diameters straight run or 18”, which ever is greater.
Positioning the reducer with the flat side on top eliminates of an air pocket in the suction line
There is always an uneven flow in a elbow, it introduces turbulence and air entrainment, and essentially destroys the hydraulic balance of the rotating element.
Great care should be taken in the design of a sump to ensure that any liquid emptying into the sump does so in such a manner that air entrained in the flow does not pass into the suction opening.
Stress analyze can give us value of strain on pump casing.
Piping mistakes on the discharge side can be accommodated by increasing the performance of that pump. On suction side however can be the source of repetitive failures, which may never be traced back to piping and could continue undetected for many years to come.
