2. WHAT IS A FILM POSTER?
A film poster is a poster used to promote and advertise a film.
Studios often print several posters that vary in size and content
for various domestic and international markets. They normally
contain an image with text. Today's posters often feature
photographs of the main actors. Posters also come with exciting
and ambiguous tag lines, to intrigue the audience. They are
situated on the inside and outside of movie theatres and on
billboards to promote the film being released.
3. WHAT IS A TEASER FILM POSTER?
• A teaser film poster is a poster that releases limited
information about the film being released. It usually contains
a simple picture, the name of the movie, a release date and
the main characters real name. This intrigues the audience,
especially if they see their favourite actor /actress starring in
it.
4. WHAT IS A MAGAZINE COVER?
• A magazine is a publication with a paper cover which is
issued regularly, usually every week or every month, and
which contains articles, stories, photographs, and
advertisements. What ever is popular at that time or is
potentially a shining upcoming star, will be printed on the
front. For example when Iron man 2 was released, a
picture of iron man was placed on the front cover.
5. WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL FILM POSTER?
• The iconography makes a big impact on the poster as its supposed to catch the
audiences eye and attention. Identifying main themes in the film without actually
telling the story makes a good movie poster.
• Some of the top grossing films with the memorable posters have their own style
throughout all of their advertising. The technique is successful in capturing an
audience as it means that each text is instantly decipherable to each other,
making the audience have an idea of what the film will be about.
• A tagline could be crucial too, as it makes the audience interested as its as if a cliff
hanger has been given before the film.
• Using colours that are related with the movie and the genre it is E.G. Red colours
to interpret blood for a horror movie.
6. WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL MAGAZINE FILM
COVER?
• A balance of iconography and typography
• First look matters, make them interested from the first glance
• Solid background
• Big font size
• Make it looks as if its 3D
• Straightforward
• In the picture the character has eye contact towards the audience, this
brings them closer to inspect.
7. FILM POSTER Title is in Big white letters so can be
seen clearly by the audience,
whiteness catches attention too.
The design looks like steal, giving
an action feel. The groups brand
identity is at the beginning too ‘A’.
Capital letters give emphasis.
Explosions give the impression
action and fighting is included, as
well as the flying ship in the
background tells the audience sci-fi
is included.
Iron man in the middle
makes the audience think he
is the main character so their
attention is drawn most to
him, this also creates a
strong brand identity for past
marvel films.
The marvel sign above the title
is usual for all of Marvel’s
products, this allows a strong
brand identity for produce and
merchandise. The characters all
have their own movie making
them iconic and the audience
potentially more intrigued.

for something with a bright
light in his palm, this also
catches the attention of the
audience.
8. MAGAZINE COVER- FILM
Red and large writing gives
the impression it is blood
involved, especially if he is
holding a knife in his hand.
Brad Pitt being centred, makes the
audience have their attention on
him, as well as because he has a
knife and is pointing it out looks like
he’s ready to fight someone with it.
The quote underneath as well ‘Brad
pitt wants a word!’ makes think it
too, as his eye contact us facing
towards us too.Other articles on the side
show that the magazine
is packed with
information and other
latest stuff including the
film at the time

Lines that break up
each article are a smart
way, as it makes it
looks more compact
but also links to the
style of the film.
