Mainstream:
• Called Top Chart Show and comes on every weekday at 5PM and finishes at
6:30PM.
• The genres are of a mix because of the music playing is from the charts, like Pop,
Hip Hop, Soul and R&B.
Niche:
• Called Joshy’s Live Soul Lounge and comes on on the weekend and Fridays at 7PM
and finishes at Midnight.
• The genre is of adult contemporary R&B and Soul as well as a bit of Hip Hop at
times. The whole show is mainly old school.
Reasons a to why:
The Niche show plays music of the R&B and Soul genre and part of the reason I’m
going with it. The main reason I'm going with the niche show is because of the music
being centered on the type of audience I’m more geared towards and understand
more.

3. Niche
The title of my niche radio show is Joshy’s Live Lounge Show and by the title the style
can already be seen as slow paced and relaxed. Because of this the genre of music is
old school R&B, Soul and bits of Hip Hop added too. The station that it is hosted on is
Skyline 94.6FM.
The scheduling information includes starting the show at 7PM and finishing at
midnight on the weekend and Friday’s. The show is played on BBC Radio One Xtra
because of it having more of an urban audience which is what I’m aiming for.
The target audience I’m aiming for is an urban audience. They are aged 25 – 35
because of it being more mature content and an age where they understand this way
more as well as having been exposed to this music more. The socio-economic
grouping is of E/D, this is because of the audience being urban which may be looking
for a job or still in some form of education.
My plans for post-broadcast is a podcast, because of it being very long (5 hours) it
can’t really be adapted into a CD or a download.
