Pitch for my niche show
Why I made the choice of doing a
niche show over mainstream
• I had the decision to create a mainstream show which
would be streamed early in the morning with a mainstream
genre of songs. I chose instead to create a niche radio show
as I was more comfortable creating this.
• I am familiar with the niche genre of music and would be
easier to produce as I listen to a lot of niche radio shows.
The type of music that will be played on a niche show is
popular with people my age so that is also another reason I
chose to create a niche show. A mainstream show is
popular who are a much older audience so it would be
harder to produce. I also know which type of music that is
played on a niche radio show.
Style & Genre
• Name of my niche show: Night-Shift
• My show will play a ready listed playlist and will
take songs suggestions from audience via social
media.
• One host with small talk, short advertisements,
local and world wise news reports.
• Show will be broadcasted late at night on
weekends.
• Songs will include genre such as grime, rap, pop
and hip hop.
Target Audience
• My show is targeted at an age group of teenagers
and young adults at 15-24.
• My primary target is male audience as they prefer
this type of audience.
• My type of music will appeal not only to
teenagers but adults as well.
• Students in class E/D are most likely to listen to
this show.
• People who work late or are out will listen to this
show if they can.
Schedule
• My radio show will be played at 1am on BBC
Radio 1 and will end at 4am.
• My show will contain music, small talk, jingles
and name-checks.
• There will be short advertisements and news
reports.
• My songs will be able to play on any device
that will give you BBC Radio 1 such as phone
radio, car, home or computer.
Post-Broadcast Distribution
• My show will be live on radio and online live
broadcast.
• My show will be available for people who
missed it live and will be broadcasted online r
can be downloaded.

Target Audience • My show is targeted at an age group of teenagers and young adults at 15-24. • My primary target is male audience as they prefer this type of audience. • My type of music will appeal not only to teenagers but adults as well. • Students in class E/D are most likely to listen to this show. • People who work late or are out will listen to this show if they can.

Schedule • My radio show will be played at 1am on BBC Radio 1 and will end at 4am. • My show will contain music, small talk, jingles and name-checks. • There will be short advertisements and news reports. • My songs will be able to play on any device that will give you BBC Radio 1 such as phone radio, car, home or computer.
