Lots of Icons which the
younger audience look up
too. Many different well known pop
stars, very recognised artists.
Pop stars opinions are widely
mediated as many enjoy speaking out
during interviews making for a good
read.
Pop is a very bright genre
making for bright housing
colours on the magazines
making them stand out in the
selection of magazines.
Rock stars are very opinionated and are
unafraid to say what they think during
interviews making for a good read.
Usually are rock
groups and not
individual artists
so there will be
more than one
opinion voiced
in the same
interviews giving
more to write
about and
publish.
Rock groups are liked from many
different ages ranging from young teens
to the older generation.
Rock music has always been around, starting back in the 70’s.
many of the older groups are still around with bands such as
Metallica and then the newer ones coming through such as
Bring Me The Horizon.
A new style of house music is being produced and
therefore there will be a lot to speak about in
interviews and reviews.
House music sets and concerts are
hours upon hours long meaning in
interviews and reviews on the set
there will be a lot to share with the
public.
Many house music sets are abroad
in countries such as Ibiza and
therefore it gives the British
audience a closer connection with
the music they wont get the
chance to hear very often.
Individual house
DJ’s generally
use other DJ’s
tracks and mix
them into their
sets meaning
they can give
their views on
other artists and
share why they
appreciate their
work so much.
Not everyone understands how house
music is produced and the software is
used and this would be a great chance
to give the public an insight.
There are a variety of groups and individual artists
meaning there will be extended interviews with the
groups as there is more than one opinion.
Indie artists play all year round in both
tours and festivals meaning they have
big followings and a wide audience
meaning more people will pay interest
in their interviews etc.
Some indie groups do not like each other
and speak publicly about this for example
The Kooks and Arctic Monkeys.
2. Cons of music
genres

The older generation who buy the
majority of magazines aren’t overly keen
on pop music and pop stars.
Many pop stars are seen to
be ‘fake’.
Rock is seen to be very aggressive and
therefore interviews may include many
unwanted foul language which are unable
to be published.
A very narrow audience believe indie music sounds
the same and are not interested.
The general ‘house music’ audience aren’t stereotypically
known to read about artists as they are assumed to be
young adults who spend all their free time partying or
asleep.
Audience is small compared to other
genres as they are young teens/ early
20’s.
