What Has Been Gone After The War Essay
Let me tell you a little about what s been going on since the war s been going on. When he first
left I just stayed in the house and cooked and did things I would normally do. Then a couple
weeks after he was gone, I got a job. More employment opportunities opened for women. I got a
job where he used to work. At a factory where we lived. Women became the main population of
the factories, and women s movement progressed. The only bad thing about working was that I
got lower pays then my husband. Soon African Americans started showing up. They also got
recruited a bunch of jobs. Finally the war ended. It was November 11th, 1918 at 11:00 am. I woke
up early for work wondering if my husband is coming back from the war. It s been 2 long years...

But we still didn t have our money that was lost in the bank.
In 1920 the United States added the eighteenth amendment. Which outlawed the production and
consumption of alcohol and was more commonly known as Prohibition. In 1923 we got a
telephone. This was very exciting for all of us. We ve never seen anything like this before.
Probably because we live out in the middle of nowhere. We couldn t figure out how to use it for a
couple of days. But then we finally figured it out. Then in 1925 we moved from
Savannah,Georgia to Casper,Wyoming. This was a very long journey for my husband, two
kids, and I. We had to travel by our car. It was small but it was just enough room for the four of
us. We had to sell some stuff that we had and get money for it. We also had to leave some stuff in
Georgia. It took us around two days to get there. We only stopped for food twice, because we have
limited amounts of money. And we had to save most of it for the house.
Finally we got to where we need to be. It was the most beautiful place we ve ever seen. We lived
here for the rest of our lives. My husband passed away at age 83 and I passed away at age 84 we
lived the happiest life ever. My kids both got married my oldest son Jack to a beautiful lady
named Jane. And they had three little girls, Mary, Janet, Kay. My daughter got married to a
wonderful man named Shawn. They had four kids. One set of twin boys Robert and Jack II, they
also had a set of twin daughters, June and

Argumentative Essay On Population Control
Population control is a policy of attempting to limit the growth in numbers of a population
(dictionary.com). Kurt Vonnegut writes about a time when the United States population is stable at
forty million people. In order for them to stay at the same amount of people they take a life for
every new life. A situation as the one illustrated in the story would bring out humaninstincts in a
negative way. That is why this form of population control is a horrible idea because as humans we
have the instinct to do all we can for those we love and to survive. In all reality, the universehas its
own natural way of controlling the population and that s all that we need. As humans our basic
human naturetells us to do all we can for those we love. It is instinct for a parent to protect their
child at all cost. It was no shock when Vonnegut states, Wehling shot Dr. Hitz... then he shot
Leora Duncan (Vonnegut). Its hard to say Mr. Wehling s response in the story is completely
normal. However, to a certain extent it is because both Leora and Hitz would be the reason his
triplets couldn t live. He didn t have anyone else that would volunteer. That of course doesn t
make what he did right but for him he was protecting his child. Another thing that plays into our
natural human instinct is often the people we love can do no wrong in our eyes. Think about if
your spouse cheats it is sometimes easy to forgive them because of all the other amazing things
that have done. Lastly, we will do whatever it takes to make those that mean the most to us
happy. That s why the grandfather in the story offered to go the Ethical Suicide Studio . He
wanted his grandson to have the life he always wanted by having children. He wouldn t just
choose to do this for his grandson unless he believed that it would make him happy. Wehling
even says, All I have to do is pick which one of the triplets is going to live, then deliver my
maternal grandfather to the Happy Hooligan, (Vonnegut). Do we really think he wanted to see
his grandfather go? No would be many people answers, he simply thinks about letting it happen
because he believes it will make his wife happy to keep all of her children. Doing all we can for
those we love includes protecting

Pac-2 Essay
1. How did the Patriot missile the Patriot Advanced Capability 2 (PAC 2) version acquire the
capability to operate against other missiles, beyond just aircrafts?
The Patriot Advanced Capability 2 version acquired the capability to operate against other
missiles, beyond just aircrafts, by the US armed forces through an improved fuse and warhead in
comparison to the PAC 1 (Maital Seshadri, 2012). Furthermore, the US Army made changes to not
only the software of the PAC 2 missile but the radar system which guided it. These improvements
gave the missiles the ability to intercept other missiles which was different than previous models.
Interception in this case was not considered just the capability to knock a missile off course but to
destroy them which was the objective of this product. Beyond physical attributes, it acquired them
through the recognition that tactile ballistic missiles were all over Europe and increased threats,
prompting improvements to occur (Maital Seshadri, 2012).
2. Who made the decision to put the PAC 2 into production, when and why?
Colonel Garnett, the Patriot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These problems showcased themselves through low altitude engagement with warheads and
radar clutter of false targets that was produced from buildings. These problems were addressed
through improvements of the software code from limited data collected during the use of the
missiles that was then upgraded over short, even weekend, periods. This resulted in more
accuracy and precision of the Patriot missiles in intercepting Scud missiles. This problem became
more apparent when the evidence of the success rate of the missiles of 70 percent for Saudi
Arabia and 40 per cent for Israel were compared to the initial interception success rate of 95
percent from US Army sources (Maital Seshadri,

Body Language Of A Silent Film
Language developed tremendously through the use of silent films in the 1800s and early
1900s. A silent film is that which consists of only the picture, and no sound. This was an era of
truly transformative filmmaking, forcing writers and producers to have to step out of a
comfort zone in order to allow purely visual expressions to touch their audiences and convey
their stories. This was achieved through a greater emphasis on facial expressions and body
language. Firstly, one of the greatest movies in the silent era was that by Keaton, Sherlock Jr.
This film encompasses all the core principles of telling a story through silence and overcoming
the cinematic boundaries of its day. The key to achieving this is through the direct
expressiveness of the body language of the actors alongside the plot and how Keaton
specifically selected the scenes. The film begins with a love story between a wealthy girl
(Kathryn McGuire) and a projectionist at a local movie theatre. His dream to become a detective
is what drives the film. A memorable scene in the movie is that in the candy shop when Keaton
goes to buy the chocolates for the girl. This was performed entirely in pantomime, allowing the
audience to get in touch with the film, and comprehend his desperation to woo the girl. He
shadows Crane, who is larger in size than he is, mimicking his body language and gestures. This
was done using a tracking shot. Keaton s framing techniques were clear enough to tell the story,
particularly when

Putting The Edge On Xbox Live
Putting the Edge on Xbox Live Once upon a time, there was a pretty little system that pushed the
limits of what was possible in that day and age. In today s home entertainment market, it is
becoming increasingly difficult remain competitive and stay in the game. According to the MIT
Technology Review (2015), Nintendo and Sony did not even make the list, with Microsoftlanding
the number forty eight spot; and yet, these three companies are the leaders in putting entertainment
in our living rooms, dorm rooms, staterooms, mess decks, and anywhere else we humans decide to

Sometimes, something as simple as one s server can give that extra little edge.
Server Side Hardware Requirements The very first iteration of Xbox Live did not even have a
name, as it was simply a server system set up by Microsoft to allow video game players the
ability to play with other players over the internet. The first Xbox, also known more
affectionately as Xbox Original, or XO, was released in 2001. This system was supported by
500 servers, according to Ed Grabianowski and Stephanie Crawford in their 2006 article for Live
Technology, which was dispersed through four locations in three countries: the United States,
England, and Japan. This initial set up is estimated to have cost Microsoft $500 million, and was
considered by the company to be one of the necessary start up costs for their first entry into the
console wars. Rich Miller (2013) further reports that the server numbers jumped to over 3,000
when the Xbox 360 (X360) was released in 2005 and again to 300,000 in 2013 with the
introduction of Xbox One (X1). With datacenter hubs all over the world now powering the
Microsoft Cloud, Xbox Live has become a worldwide recognized name. A virtual tour of the
Microsoft Cloud can be found on their website, We power the Microsoft Cloud , and features

Why Was The Colonized England s First Colony
Q8. During the 1800s, England was working on expanding their country by taking over other
nations. England would then claim that land as their new colony. Next, England would immigrate
their native people into their newly claimed land. Overtime, these colonies would become very
successful, most of them held enough power to stand on their own. Canada is an example of one of
Englands first colony. Canada was colonized first by the European country France. In the coming
years, Canada was taken over and colonized by the British. In 1763, England annexed Canada
after they had defeated France during the French and Indian War. However, with this newly added
land, it would also bring problems of its own.
There were two major problem that would grow in Canada. Those problems included religious and
cultural differences between the native people and the new immigrants from Britain. The biggest
conflicts happened between the Roman Catholic French and the English speaking colonists. The
natives to Canada were growing angry at Great Britain. Great Britain knew that in order to keep

Canada had an English speaking majority. Upper Canada today is located in Ontario, Canada.

separation between the two groups temporarily worked, soon they would have to find another plan.
During the 1830s, rebellions began in both Upper and Lower Canada. The conflicts had rekindled,

How Psychology Helps Us Understand the Concept of Language and Intelligence as Related to
Human Beings
Psychology, the study of behaviour and mental processes concerns itself with the reasons
organisms do what they do and how they behave in a particular way, For example why acquired
skills are not lost when learnt ; Why do children rebel against parents and, why humans speak, love
and fight each other. These examples of learning and behaviour are directly related to intelligence
and language in human beings.
It is said that language, foresight, musical skills and other hallmarks of intelligence are connected
through an underlying facility that enhances rapid movements. To most observers, the essence of

Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon together developed a test called the ( Simon Binet Test ), to
assess the ability of children s performance at school. They developed a table used to compare the
mental age of a child to the actual age to produce the concept of I.Q. The conclusion was that a
particular intelligent person often seem quick and capable of juggling many ideas at once.
Not to be outdone, Wechler developed intelligence scales for both adults and children (WAIS
WISC). The scales are in two parts VERBAL AND PERFORMANCE, giving a clear picture of the
person s IQ; by identifying their strength and weaknesses in specific areas .The information can be
used in planning individualized instruction programs.
To help us understand the nature side of intelligence versus the nurture side Psychologists
Bouchard McGue (1981), and Harrell et al(1955) provided us with correlations and comparisons .
In the case of Bouchard and McGue the correlations thus provided were:
Identical twins reared apart.72
Identical twins reared together.86 compared to
Non identical twins reared together .60
Siblings reared apart.47
Then child and natural parent.50 while.
Then child and adopted parent.19
These results appear to strongly support the nature issue.

The Role Of The Greek Gods In The Odyssey
Lindsey Knight
4/11/17
Before I read the Odyssey, my views on the Greek Gods was a bunch of powerful immortals who
watched the world play out in front of them like a game of parcheesi. But now I know that the
people around the time of the Trojan War, the gods were believed to cheat, move their pieces more
than the dice said, take out an opponent s piece when they weren t supposed to. Odysseus was a
piece on the gameboard, and all he wanted to do was get home, but the odds were not always in his
favor. Or should I say, the gods.
In Greek times, gods were created to have a reason for why things happen on Earth, like rain, sun,
and lightning. Of course, we now have scientific evidence of why these things happen, but the gods
are still important to our learning today. One reason mythology is important is it debates between
the good and evil in men (reference.com). Throughout the Odyssey, we see the conflict between the
kind, family man of Odysseus and the grueling, vicious, tough man, fighting for his way home. Of
course, it was not smooth sailing, but it could have been smoother with or without the help of the
gods.
Athena is the goddess of wisdom, and she chose to help Odysseus get home to Ithaca. She favored
him for his important qualities that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and long, but still wished for him to return home. I will lose all my honor now... I said myself that
Odysseus would suffer long and hard before he made it home, but I never dreamed of blocking his
return.(13.140) . He felt disrespect that Odysseus had made it home, with millions worth of riches

The Development Of Abolitionism And Anti Slavery
This paper is on the history of the development of abolitionism and anti slavery in Allegany
County, New York. Allegany County began shortly before the end of slavery in New York and
underwent its early period of development in a time when abolitionism, moral reform movements,
and related social developments were occurring across Western New York and other parts of the
country. This paper will draw on a variety of sources, including archival documents, biographies,
monographs, and information provided by local historians, to present an understanding of the
developments which occurred. It will make the case abolitionismin Allegany was developed through
an interactive and participatory process between the local population, reformist ideas, social
developments, relationships of mutual influence with non local elements.
Allegany County began in the period of the gradual abolition of slavery in New York. Significant
American settlement in the area began near the arrival of the 19th century and the county was
declared in 1806. In 1799, New York State had begun a legal process of gradual emancipation of
slaves, which culminated in its full prohibition in 1827. In this early period, most settlers did not
own slaves, some significant groups (such as a Rhode island group of Seventh Day Baptists who
settled in Nile and Alfred) came into the county with anti slavery views, and the local
Haudenosaunee were largely unfriendly in sentiments toward slavery. But a relatively small

Unholy is a very good AOE damaging spec, equipped for spreading damage and disease. The
Unholy spec also grants the Death Knight an undead pet that joins the fights and deals damage.
Frost specialize in disabling enemy movement and use frozen dark magic to deal significant
damage to enemies.
Due to all these qualities, the Death Knight is highly versatile for all combat experiences, whether
it is in; PvE, PvP, single or multiple target fights.
Which Hero Class Is Better?
Because the Demon Hunter is the newest class to play in World of Warcraft, you are going to find a
lot of them running around; meaning you may find it hard to nail down a spot in a raid if you are
playing a Demon Hunter due to the competition. But this was also the same for when the Death

Histrionic Personality Disorder Analysis
Those living with histrionic personality disorder are referred to as drama queens . Often such
persons are uncomfortable in situations where they are not the center of attention. People with this
disorder are often charming, flirtatious or seductive, and like to dress in an inappropriately
provocative way (Larsen, 2014). They can be theatrical, behaving or expressing emotions in a
manner that draws attention to themselves. Yet simultaneously, their emotional are shallow, lacking
in detail and easily changed. This gives them the air of being hollow and insincere. Moreover, the
drama and strong emotional display often embarrasses friends and family as they may embrace
even casual acquaintances with excessive enthusiasm, or may sob uncontrollably over some minor

Personality disorders such as histrionic personality disorder are typically diagnosed by a
psychologist or psychiatrist. There are no laboratory, blood or genetic tests that can be utilized to
diagnose histrionic personality disorder. Many people diagnosed with histrionic personality

What Is The Theme Of Frozen River
In the movie Frozen River portrays two women struggling to get by. One of the women lives near
an Indian reservation, Ray Eddy, while the other, Lila Littlewolf, lives in the reservation. Lila has
been smuggling people over the border from Canada to the United States before, while Ray comes
into contact with Lila and is forced to transport people from Canada to the United States. It is shown
that it is not hard to transport people from both sides of the border, due to the reservation being
on both sides of the border, which is separated by the river. Thus when the river is frozen they can
pass it with a car and pass without being checked by troopers, as it is still part of the reservation.
When Ray realizes that there can be made quite some money with the smuggling, which she needs,

Western Influence on Japan Essay
Western Influence on Japan
Japan, as a nation, is a continually changing society. Ever since western nations became involved
with Japan, its changes over recent times have increased at a substantial rate. Japan now faces
cultural, economical and social differences as a result of the western involvement. The involvement
was initiated by the Japanese themselves, beginning during the
Meiji Period1 through current times. As time increases, Japan is slowly becoming more
westernized because of western involvement. Western involvement is greatly affecting Japan.
Western involvement began in Japan during the late 1800 s. The Meiji dynasty helped to carry it
through, seeing the importance of western ideas.

There is pro choice and pro life. Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro choice considers it
to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical is because one may tie their
religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the potential life that a woman is carrying to be
pure and destined for greatness. They may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away
from the world a potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for
cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a child if she
becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running away from responsibility.
They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is committing murder. On the other hand,
there are people who consider abortion to be ethical because they reason that regardless of the
potential life, it is a woman s body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a
woman should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is her
decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by society. They may also

MEMORY
Psychology is known as the science of behavior and mental process. In Greek psychology has been

psychologies also know as a study of the thought processes and behavior of humans and other

Long term memory
Long term memory refers to the continuing storage of information. In Freudian psychology, long
term memory would be call the preconscious and unconscious. This information is largely outside
of our awareness, but can be called into working memory to be used. Some of this information is
fairly easy to recall, while other memories are much more difficult to access. In long term memory,
Tulving (1972, 2000) has proposed the existence of three kinds of long term memory storage, which
have different properties, and based on different brain mechanisms. The three long term memory
storage are; procedural memory, semantic memory and episodic memory.
Procedural memory is used to storage the memory of movement and skills, such as writing, cook
or other movement and skills that related to our daily life. Semantic memory is memory for
meaning without reference to the time and place of learning, and episodic memory refers to
memory for specific experience that can be define in terms of time and space.

Air Pollution Is An Unavoidable Mixture Of Substances That...
Air pollution is an unavoidable mixture of substances that we breathe in. There is no way to
escape air pollution nowadays since it can be encountered indoors as well as outdoors. The type
of pollution we breathe in can be divided between indoor and outdoor by the different types of air
pollution that are released in these environments. Fine particles such as burning fossil fuels (such
that come from traffic and energy production), tobacco smoke, and chemical vapors are found in
the air breathed in from outdoors, while solvents (such as found in household cleaners and
products), mold, and carbon monoxide are sadly breathed in from within homes and businesses on
a daily basis.
There is no question to anyone s mind that these air pollutants cause harmful effects to one s health.
Studies have been conducted to link air pollution to the hundreds of ailments that many men,
women and children have suffered over the years. Cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses are
without a doubt caused by air pollution as studies have shown. Today there are studies showing that
Autism is linked to air pollution. The purpose of this paper is a review of the current state of
knowledge on air pollution and whether it plays a role in children developing autism.
Autism is a disability that impairs the normal brain development in children. It causes deficits in
their verbal and non verbal communication, social interaction, and play. Girls are more likely to

Literary Analysis Of Superman
John Ondrasik s Superman, expresses the message of society expecting perfection and putting
people on too high of a pedestal. Using Superman as a symbol, Ondrasik unveils the hardship of
living up to the expectations of society. Due to his unique abilities and powers, society expects
nothings less than perfection from Superman. Having lost his family and home planet It is not easy
to be [Superman]. Superman has to fight everything that society tells him to so that he can be
himself. He is put on a high pedestal in society and is expected to perform in tough situations.
Many people in the world look up to Superman due to his special powers. Society assumes
Superman s life is easy and perfect since he has these powers which make a mockery of mere
mortals but it is not. Superman wishes people did not think so much of him and tries hard to
please everyone. Frustration builds up and Superman feels like killing himself (hence the
kryptonite). Superman simply cannot make a mistake since he is always expected to succeed.
Similarly, many people in our society are put on high pedestals. Even students like ourselves, are
expected to receive straight A s and never score inadequate on a test. Eventually, when these
students receive a mediocre grade, they are ashamed of themselves. These students are frightened
to inform their parents since their expectations are so high. Athletes are also put under
tremendous pressure to perform in big games. Failing is simply not an option. If one fails to
succeed, the loss will follow them around for the rest of their lives. A stamp of failure will revolve
around their name. Similarly, Superman feels like he is put on a high pedestal. Society does not let
Superman cry or dreamsince he is not a normal person. He is not expected to cry or dream . His
duty is to protect Earth from deleterious villains and he does not have a choice to say no. Society
needs to be less naive and understand that reaching perfection is not possibly. Like Superman,
men in today s society are socialized to be strong, dependable, and emotionless. Men are required to
repress their emotions and expected to live up to a ridiculous idea of what it is to be a man . Using
Superman as a symbol is a

How Did Nostradamus Predict The Future
Nostradamus was an astrologer who seemed to predict the future. He became famous after he
published his first book containing his predictions on the events that would happen in the future.
One of Nostradamus s prophecies told the harsh end of King Henry II. Even now, people are not
sure how he was able to foretell such events and still are trying to figure out how he did it. This
mystery behind Nostradamus can be summed up into two conspiracies: he did predict the futureand
he didn t predict the future.
Nostradamus has bewildered experts with his prophecies for centuries and still they can t decide if
he did predict the future or not. To begin with, each of his prophecies contained four quatrains,
these were, consequently, stanzas made up of four lines which equivalently rhymes . Undoubtedly,

Ozone Depletion And Its Negative Effects On Aquatic Skin
Ozone Depletion and Its Negative Effects on Aquatic Skin
The Ozone is made up of three oxygen molecule joint together by covalent bond (O3) which is
mostly found in the stratosphere of the Earth. Although it is a poisonous gas, it is important in
many ways for human as well as other aquatic and terrestrial animals. But due to the large
emission of the halogens and CFCs ozone is being depleted rapidly (Vermishev and Danilov
Danilyan 360 361). The enormous disadvantage of the ozone layer depletion is the inability of the
earth s atmosphere to filter the UV (Ultra Violate) rays emitted by the sun and actually which has
created a various problems such as the negative effects on the terrestrial and aquatic skin.
UV ray is that with low wavelength and high frequency. High frequency rays carry high amounts
of energy. High energy rays are capable of changing the DNA in molecular level. Aquatic
organisms are at higher risk of damage from UV ray the skins of aquatic organisms are just not
restricted to one function. The various harmful rays emitted as a result of barbaric human activities
have resulted in ozone depletion causing the UV ray to enter through the stratosphere and causes
several diseases such as sunburn, cancer in aquatic animals, changes in DNA structure leading to
the skin mutations, unusual changes in the sebaceous glands, salt gland, and other several glands.
Some of the organisms are reported to have the skin cancer when exposed to the high frequency

The King Of Ancient Greek Kingdom Of Macedon Alexander The...
From the king of Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon Alexander the Great, Through every
generation of the human race there has been a constant war, a war with fear. Those who have
the courage to conquer it are made free and those who are conquered by it are made to suffer
until they have the courage to defeat it, or death takes them. Alexander the Great was born in
Pella on July 20, 356 B.C. His parents were king Philip II of Macedon and Queen Olympia,
daughter of King Neoptolemus. He was raised in Pella s royal court and spent much of his
childhood learning to be a leader. Most of the time his father was busy engaged in military
campaigns and he hardly ever saw him. His mother served a powerful role for him and had
encouraged him to believe that he was a descendant of heroes. He was tutored by legendary
Greek philosopher Aristotle in 343 B.C. which was hired by his father the king Philip II in the
Temple of the Nymphs at Meiza. Aristotle taught him philosophy, drama, politics, poetry and
science over the course of three years. During the process of learning he developed his dream of
becoming a warrior. After one year completed his education at Meiza in 340 B.C he became a
soldier. When he reached the age of 16 his father was absence to led an army into Thrace and left

Risk Quantification
7. How did NASA decide what is or is not an acceptable risk?
NASA identified and evaluated hazards through a formalized hazard reduction process as
described in the NASA Handbook, NHB5300.4. The process required that hazards be determined
for probability and credibility. In order to ensure that the standards within NHB5300.4 were
adhered to, a Senior Safety Review Board was established for overseeing the risk assessment
process. The process allowed for a certain amount of risk to be allowed as long as it was
acceptable. To determine whether or not a hazard was an acceptable risk, NASA used a Safety
Classification System, which was a qualitative system rather than a quantitative system. This was
due to the high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, they maintained their current trajectory of making decisions qualitatively. NASA should
have improved their risk management processes as more data was gathered. Databases could have
been compiled with the information from previous flights that could have provided probabilistic
risk assessment and trends for future flights. If NASA and Thiokol had used quantitative data when
assessing the erosion and blow by incidents, they likely would have come to a different conclusion
when they decided to launch the Challenger shuttle.
10. Which risks should be elevated? To whom should they be elevated? Who should have the final
say in the response mechanism for a risk?
All risks should be elevated to whatever level of responsibility are related to the task or
component the risk is assigned to. For example, lower level risks should be assigned to lower
level management and the critical risks, as described in exhibit V, should be the responsibility of
the program manager and the NASA administrator. It s also important to note that for the risks
involved in space travel, the astronauts on the flight should also be aware of the assumed risks
that are taking place during the development of the space shuttle. One of the issues that NASA
faced during the space shuttle development is that risks weren t assigned to a specific level of
authority. No one person had the

Of The Melting Point Of Benzoic Acid And Erlenmeyer Fask
Introduction Solid substances that contain impurities may be purified in a series of steps. The
process known as recrystallization allowed for purification to occur. The solubility and melting
point of the substances are accounted for certain substances to be dissolved in certain solvents. The
melting point is a certain temperature at which a given substance, in this case a solid, is melted. The
melting pointof benzoic acid and naphthalene in this experiment are needed to understand at which
temperature the substances are purified. The meltingpoints were denoted in ranges that explained at
which points the substance began to melt, and were completely melted. In relation, the melting
points of certain substances noted, aided in the selection of which solvents were used. The
solvents used were selected in terms that the substance completely will dissolve; however, the
impurity is particularly insoluble to that same solvent, for the pure crystals to be collected.
Benzoic acid was dissolved in water, being the solvent, because the solubility is higher at higher
temperatures. The same goes for naphthalene being dissolved in ethanol. These concepts allowed
the process of recrystallization to occur if followed, resulting in the products of purified crystals.
Experimental
Into a 25 ml Erlenmeyer flask was placed 1.0 grams of benzoic acid into 13.32 ml of boiling water
at 250МЉ C. Small portions of water were added until all the benzoic acid dissolved. After all the

Witchcraft Hysteria
There were many significant factors that came into play at the time of the Salem witchcraft
hysteria. Of the numerable amount of factors that contributed to the hysteria the most influential
were religion, superstition, politics, economics, and concepts of gender during this time period.
People during the 1600 s lacked a basic understanding of how things around them worked
compared to what is known and generally accepted in today s world of science. For this sole reason
the concept of magicand witchcraftwas widely and generally accepted by a large majority of the
population during this time period. People often used false accusations of witchcraft against their
neighbors because it gave them a simple way to steal another person s land. Women were also not
trustworthy sources.
Religion played the most crucial role in the development of the witch hysteria. Residents in the
town of Salem were Puritans, which meant they were very immoderate in their beliefs.
Puritans believed their life purpose was to serve God, which meant vanquishing evil even if
there was no evil present. The average lifestyle of a Puritan was monotonous and dull; they
believed life was meant to be simple, and any spare time should have been spent serving God.
Puritans strived to exterminate any presence of the Devil or evil they could find so they could
pursue their quest of being worthy of being saved by their God. Puritans looked down to people
that did not serve God the same way that they did, and they

The First Example Of The French Baroque Style In Paris
The façade, which was finished following the completion of the other parts of the church, is
considered the first example of the French baroque style in Paris. The existing church was built
on a site, which once housed two other churches, between 1494 and 1657. The design was by
Salomon de Brosse, whose also designed the Luxembourg Palace. Baroque architecture is
considered to be highly decorated with curvaceous forms, a sense of mass and in a large scale.
However, the French Baroque style implemented many classical orders and decoration. Classical
architecturegenerally signifies architecture which is more or less deliberately derived from the
ideologies of Greek and Roman architecture of classical antiquity. the facade introduced a
completely new classical style, whereas the nave of the church was late or flamboyant gothic.
Which is why this church is credited as starting the French Baroque style.
The facade is situated up fourteen steps and features the three classical orders of architecture one
atop the other. The ground floor features three bays with pairs of fluted columns with capitals of
the simplest Doric order, with a classical pediment. The Doric capital is adorned with the echinus
and the abacus. The Doric entablature is simple, the architrave is the lowest portion, and is divided
into the guttae and the taenia, from bottom to top. The frieze features triglyphs, two vertical
grooves in the center and half grooves at the edges, separated by metopes, which

positive friendships, it was found that the boys who were in the resilience category had higher
friendship ratings than those that were not able to overcome hardships. Leading one to believe the
support given by the excellent friends helped the kids overcome the adversity. Girls also prove
friendship to be supportive through life. Researchers found that although girls and boys tend to
approach offering support in different ways, having a support system through friends develops an
emotional closeness (Rose, Smith, Glick, Schwartz Mette, 2016). Furthermore, friendships have
also been noted to make an impact on what college students contribute their success to (Killoren,
Streit, Alfaro, Delgado, Johnson, 2016). Additional benefits to friendships have been distinguished
through research as well. Throughout a lifetime, friendships adapt and change based upon
developmental phases and transitions (Hartup Stevens, 1997). In this way, friendships are flexible
and essentially ever changing. An advantage to having enduring friendships is ensuring a sense of
an overall well being in addition to what has already been stated. Moreover, aside from friendship
contributing to psychological and mental health, friendship also provides advantages to physical
health. Friendships provide social support that reduces stress levels

The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems
Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a
wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in,
it is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and
finally hatred.
Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The
symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one
loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. The placement of nulla at the beginning of the lines gives it great

Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut
vulgus amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for
Lesbia also had a non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love.
However the quondam is significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and
Catullus s feeling has since changed. nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly,
ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia and he can no longer view her with affection even
though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these
names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them. Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is
contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem 72 generally creates a strong
contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia. He chooses particularly
emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of Catullus s passion and
vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes how much Lesbia
has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria talis cogit amare

Heartbreak Research Paper
Heartbreak can physically and emotionally hurt someone. I believe 100 percent that a broken heart

Research has shown that when someone has been through a breakup they have similar brain

Descriptive Essay On A House Of The House
The nipping cold hits my face as I stroll through the woods looking for the cabin that I grew up
in. When I trudge through the crunchy snow it makes a sound like it is October with the crisp
fallen leaves underneath my feet. Up ahead I soon spot the cabin made out of walnut wood. It
looks so magnificent sitting up on top of the hill with the sun beaming its glistening rays from
behind on each side. As I enter through the wooden gate surrounding the house I recall all the
memories of Christmases before that were made in this house. I remember the good smells and
sounds from years past and hope that they come back this year.
When I enter into the creaky hundred year old house I see mice sneaking nibbles from leftover
cookies that were made last year. As I drop my luggage to the floor dust fills the room. I realize
that I should probably clean the house before I start unpacking. After I clean and unpack I go back
outside to collect some firewood. While I am out there I get blinded by the sun that is reflecting off
of the snow and I almost fall into the flowing river. It isn t quite frozen over yet and the water
splashes softly into the ice that is forming. As I walk back to the house with the wood that I have
collected I see deer bound up to the river and start drinking. I stop, mesmerized by their beauty. The
stiff fur that surrounds them shines in the sun as they drink the bitter cold water. I decide to leave
them alone and trot back to the house.
The room is undecorated

Domination Metaphor And The Boeing Case
Introduction The purpose of this memo is to explain the domination metaphor and the Boeing case
while relating the two and providing a recommendation for moving forward. The domination
metaphor is important to discuss because it explores the idea that some organizations are
instruments of domination that impose their will on others to continue their advancement through
exploitation. I will be discussing the key points of the domination metaphor, the Boeing case and
the necessary OD interventions that address the case in relation to the metaphor. Domination
Metaphor: The organism metaphor views organizations as instruments of domination. Morgan says
that organizations often have a negative impact on our world (Morgan, 2006, p. 293). The idea of
looking at organizations as instruments of domination brings attention to issues such as
environmental and social responsibilities of organizations. The metaphor brings up environmental
issues by accusing organizations of poisoning the general public through food additives and the
pollution of our environment, including our water system. Max Weber identified three types of
social domination. People can be dominated through charisma, through tradition (custom), and
through rational legal (rules and laws). (Morgan, 2006, p. 291) Within this metaphor, profits are
always considered over people while people are exploited or used to better the modern slave driver
efficiency (Morgan, 2006, p. 296). This metaphor attempts to get us to

Human Characters In The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter
The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter is set in a small Georgia mill town in the late 1930s. The two deaf
mute characters in the novel, John Singer and Spiros Antonapoulos, do everything together.
However, Spiros becomes ill and in the wake of recovering, John realizes that Spiros will never
be the same. Spiros becomes a compulsive shoplifter and alcoholic. As Spiros life spirals
downward, he becomes insane and a public nuisance consequently, is sent away to an asylum.
John Singer rents a room in Kelly s house after he is separated from his companion. Singer
becomes a sidekick to four of the town s outsiders: Mick Kelly, an adolescent lady whose fantasy
is to become an artist, Benedict Copeland, the town s black doctor, Jake Blount, a heavy drinker
and communist, and Biff Brannon, the proprietor of the town s cafe. Each of these four people
visit Singer regularly to tell him about all the troubles in their lives. Each misfit relies on Singer
to empathize with his or her loneliness. However, Singer reveals nothing about himself to them.
Be that as it may, he converses with his dear companion, Antonapoulos, on his regular visits to the
asylum. Over the year, the characters experience various troubles and find comfort in Singer.
Mick drops out of school with a goal to bolster her family after her youthful brother, Bubber,
unintentionally shoots a child named Baby. Dr. Copeland s lungs are affected by tuberculosis and
his son, Willie, is sent to jail for arguing with some white guards.

Wal-Mart and Costco
1. Introduction
Wal Mart
Wal Mart was founded by Sam Walton on 1962 and it is the largest retailer in the world. The
company has three major operations which are Wal Mart Stores U.S., Sam s Club, and Wal Mart
International. On 2007, Wal Mart used this new slogan Save Money Live Better . However, there
are some critics about their employee life. Wal Mart exploits their employee s salary for setting low
price to customer. They resisted their worker to build union organization because they tried to
prevent from negotiating with employee. Nevertheless, Wal Mart is still successful in the business
because they attract lots of urban and rural consumers.

3. The process of calculation
The way I use to evaluate share price is Enterprise Value to Sales . This way can ignore growth
rate that I need to predict when I use Golden Growth .
Firstly, I use historical data to calculate FCF/Revenue and make average. Furthermore, Capital IQ
offers the predicted revenue data and I combine it with average FCF/Revenue. In other words, I get
projected free cash flow.
Secondly, Ibbotson and Capital IQ provide their bond rating, capital structure, average historical
long term risk free rate and beta. The reason I use historical risk free rate rather current rate is that
it is more stable. According to above information I can find the cost of debt and cost of equity.
Moreover, the effective tax rate can be found in their annual report. That is, I calculate the WACC
finally.
Thirdly, I use EV to Sales ratio in 2011 for the base and use this ratio to multiply revenue in 2015
that I will get terminal value in 2015. Besides, I combine discounted free cash flow from 2012 to
2015 and add 4 year discounted terminal value. As share price is equity value divided by
outstanding shares that I have to use enterprise value subtract long term debt to get equity value.
To short, the advantage for using EV to Sales is that it can prevent from predicting growth rate
inappropriately. After all, growth

Examples Of Deviance In American History X
Jason Tedesco Professor Cubbage Sociology 1 10/15/2014 American History X Deviance There
were many examples of the theories of deviance in the film American History X. Deviance or
violations of social norms has many forms of revealing itself. American History X is a movie
about two brothers who grow up in a society of racism, and prejudice. Their lives, which are
fueled by beliefs of white supremacy and anger for the unforeseen death of their father, illustrate
the power society has upon shaping the behaviors of its members. As stated in the lecture, some
say that biology can explain deviance. Some say that a person with an extra Y chromosome
(XYY) or that has a specific body type is more likely to be deviant. Psychologists look inside the...

This theory simply states that people learn and demonstrate deviance based on the influence of
others and the groups they associate themselves with. This is an extremely important and
evident theory in the film because Danny learns how to be racist from his older brother Derek.
And Derek is first introduced to racism by his own father Dennis. Once Derek becomes an active
member in the White Supremacist group, the people who he then associates himself with only
enhance his hatred and racist lifestyle. Sometimes in life, people allow themselves to be
conformed to ways of the world, and whether those ways be good or bad, they ll still choose to
follow them because that s what they re being pressured to do by their significant

Women in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and...
Women in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
The part of Stella and Linda are both archetypal female figures in that they follow the typical
fictional role of the submissive wife and mother. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stella DuBois
(renamed Mrs.
Stanley Kowalski) supports and forgives her husband, defending him against any criticism.
Likewise, in Death of a Salesman, Linda the only female character with any import is a meek, timid
figure around her husband. This weakness is underscored by the sentence structure and diction that
each character uses when in conflict with their husband. As both Tennessee Williams and Arthur
Miller are men, it can be seen that their female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is possible that many men desire this sort of unconditional support and forgiveness who ever
wants to be blamed for their mistakes and behavior but it is unrealistic to show a woman who
tolerates this action even to the point that they end up hurting their husband, or another character.
Linda s blindness leads indirectly to Willy s suicide, and Stella s unwillingness to open her eyes to
Stanley s actions ends with Blanche being taken away to a mental institution.
Both of these characters also forgive their husbands in spite of their abuse, and back down during
any conflict. Stella in scene 3 is hit by
Stanley; during the poker scene he gives a loud whack of his hand on her thigh. All that Stella does
in reproach is say, That s not fun,
Stanley. During scene 8, Stanley yells at both Stella and Blanche:
What do you two think you are? A pair of queens? Stella s reaction is only to cry weakly , asserting
her inferior position to Stanley.
Linda s problem is verbal abuse. Willy continually yells at her for simply trying to talk: Will you
stop! ; Will you let me talk? ;
Don t take his side all the time, goddammit. When

Metals and Halogens Reactions
Metals and Halogens reactions
Elements such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and astatine belong to Group 7, Halogens.
At room temperature, fluorine is a yellow gas, chlorine is a pale green gas, bromine is a red
liquid, and iodine is a purple solid. Astatine is a radioactive element, therefore it exists only in
small amounts. All the halogens exist in diatomic molecules. They have high ionization energies
and are the most electronegative elements. Their electron configuration ns2 np5 make them
perfect elements in order to react with Group 1 and 2 metals since they want an electron which
Group 1 and 2 are willing to give. Therefore, out of all the main group elements, Halogens react
vigorously with Group 1 and Group 2 metals. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the triiodide ion that is mostly responsible for the orange red brown color since iodide was
colourless and since iodine is not very soluble in water. As the reaction was progressing, the
coloured solution began to fade to orange, yellow and finally became colourless. As these colour
changes occur, the temperature of the solution was decreasing gradually until it has finally
reached room temperature. This change in colour was due to two factors. First, all of the solid
and dissolved iodine had reacted with the zinc to produce iodide and zinc ions, both of which are
colourless substances. Secondly, the red brown solution of triiodide ions also reacted with zinc
metal to produce the colourless iodide ions.
In the other experiment three pieces of universal pH indicator were placed on a white spotting tile
and drop of chlorine water, bromine water and iodine water were transferred on each one of them.
The colour of the pH indicators were observed and recorded as shown in the table 1.The halogen
solution were filled into the dimples of the spotting tile. They were put in columns and rows which
had numbers (1, 2,3 and 4) and letters (A,B and C) in order to differentiate each solutions. After

The Attack Of September 11th Essay
The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead, we have emerged
stronger and more unified. 9/11 was the worst day we have ever seen but it brought out the best
in all of us. 9/11 is the worst and the most devastating day in New York history. This day will
never be forgotten in the history of America. The day that the terrorists thought we were going to
separate but it actually brought us even closer than ever. This day is called and remembered as 9/11.
The effect of 9/11 was very devastating in New York City and this is how it unfolded throughout
the day and time on September 11, 2001. According to http://www.history.com/topics/9 11 timeline,
this is a summary of what actually happened on 9/11. At 7:59 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11
took off from Boston going to Los Angeles. At 8:14 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 also took off
from London also going to Los Angeles. At 8:19 a.m., Flight attendants in Flight 11 informed the
ground personnel that the plane has been hijacked and then they informed the FBI. At 8:20 a.m.,
American Airlines Flight 77 takes off from Dulles International Airport also traveling to Los
Angeles. At 8:24 a.m. the hijacker, Mohammed Atta, takes Flight 11 to ground control. At 8:40

Chembright’s Case
Chembright s Case
1.) What is the main decision confronting Chembright? What happens if they do nothing?
The main decision for Chembright is in regards to the pricing of their products specifically bleach,
which is Chembright s main product, and how their main competitor R.J. Poulson is pricing theirs
bleach in order to get rid of the competition. This has caused Chembright to be unable to compete
at these prices since there isn t any profit margin for them if they lower their price as R.J. Poulson.
Therefore Chembright has to stop the price war with R.J Poulson to be able to maintain their
products in these markets. Now Chembright is facing the issue of how to retain their customer s
without lowering their prices, since regardless of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

would try to enforce the antidumping since they initiated the change in prices to dump Chembright
of the market. Lastly I would try to talk with my competitors and try to agree on price,

  • 2. What Has Been Gone After The War Essay Let me tell you a little about what s been going on since the war s been going on. When he first left I just stayed in the house and cooked and did things I would normally do. Then a couple weeks after he was gone, I got a job. More employment opportunities opened for women. I got a job where he used to work. At a factory where we lived. Women became the main population of the factories, and women s movement progressed. The only bad thing about working was that I got lower pays then my husband. Soon African Americans started showing up. They also got recruited a bunch of jobs. Finally the war ended. It was November 11th, 1918 at 11:00 am. I woke up early for work wondering if my husband is coming back from the war. It s been 2 long years... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But we still didn t have our money that was lost in the bank. In 1920 the United States added the eighteenth amendment. Which outlawed the production and consumption of alcohol and was more commonly known as Prohibition. In 1923 we got a telephone. This was very exciting for all of us. We ve never seen anything like this before. Probably because we live out in the middle of nowhere. We couldn t figure out how to use it for a couple of days. But then we finally figured it out. Then in 1925 we moved from Savannah,Georgia to Casper,Wyoming. This was a very long journey for my husband, two kids, and I. We had to travel by our car. It was small but it was just enough room for the four of us. We had to sell some stuff that we had and get money for it. We also had to leave some stuff in Georgia. It took us around two days to get there. We only stopped for food twice, because we have limited amounts of money. And we had to save most of it for the house. Finally we got to where we need to be. It was the most beautiful place we ve ever seen. We lived here for the rest of our lives. My husband passed away at age 83 and I passed away at age 84 we lived the happiest life ever. My kids both got married my oldest son Jack to a beautiful lady named Jane. And they had three little girls, Mary, Janet, Kay. My daughter got married to a wonderful man named Shawn. • 3. Argumentative Essay On Population Control Population control is a policy of attempting to limit the growth in numbers of a population (dictionary.com). Kurt Vonnegut writes about a time when the United States population is stable at forty million people. In order for them to stay at the same amount of people they take a life for every new life. A situation as the one illustrated in the story would bring out humaninstincts in a negative way. That is why this form of population control is a horrible idea because as humans we have the instinct to do all we can for those we love and to survive. In all reality, the universehas its own natural way of controlling the population and that s all that we need. As humans our basic human naturetells us to do all we can for those we love. It is instinct for a parent to protect their child at all cost. It was no shock when Vonnegut states, Wehling shot Dr. Hitz... then he shot Leora Duncan (Vonnegut). Its hard to say Mr. Wehling s response in the story is completely normal. However, to a certain extent it is because both Leora and Hitz would be the reason his triplets couldn t live. He didn t have anyone else that would volunteer. That of course doesn t make what he did right but for him he was protecting his child. Another thing that plays into our natural human instinct is often the people we love can do no wrong in our eyes. Think about if your spouse cheats it is sometimes easy to forgive them because of all the other amazing things that have done. Lastly, we will do whatever it takes to make those that mean the most to us happy. That s why the grandfather in the story offered to go the Ethical Suicide Studio . He wanted his grandson to have the life he always wanted by having children. He wouldn t just choose to do this for his grandson unless he believed that it would make him happy. Wehling even says, All I have to do is pick which one of the triplets is going to live, then deliver my maternal grandfather to the Happy Hooligan, (Vonnegut). Do we really think he wanted to see his grandfather go? No would be many people answers, he simply thinks about letting it happen because he believes it will make his wife happy to keep all of her children. Doing all we can for those we love includes protecting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Pac-2 Essay 1. How did the Patriot missile the Patriot Advanced Capability 2 (PAC 2) version acquire the capability to operate against other missiles, beyond just aircrafts? The Patriot Advanced Capability 2 version acquired the capability to operate against other missiles, beyond just aircrafts, by the US armed forces through an improved fuse and warhead in comparison to the PAC 1 (Maital Seshadri, 2012). Furthermore, the US Army made changes to not only the software of the PAC 2 missile but the radar system which guided it. These improvements gave the missiles the ability to intercept other missiles which was different than previous models. Interception in this case was not considered just the capability to knock a missile off course but to destroy them which was the objective of this product. Beyond physical attributes, it acquired them through the recognition that tactile ballistic missiles were all over Europe and increased threats, prompting improvements to occur (Maital Seshadri, 2012). 2. Who made the decision to put the PAC 2 into production, when and why? Colonel Garnett, the Patriot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These problems showcased themselves through low altitude engagement with warheads and radar clutter of false targets that was produced from buildings. These problems were addressed through improvements of the software code from limited data collected during the use of the missiles that was then upgraded over short, even weekend, periods. This resulted in more accuracy and precision of the Patriot missiles in intercepting Scud missiles. This problem became more apparent when the evidence of the success rate of the missiles of 70 percent for Saudi Arabia and 40 per cent for Israel were compared to the initial interception success rate of 95 percent from US Army sources (Maital Seshadri, ... • 5. Body Language Of A Silent Film Language developed tremendously through the use of silent films in the 1800s and early 1900s. A silent film is that which consists of only the picture, and no sound. This was an era of truly transformative filmmaking, forcing writers and producers to have to step out of a comfort zone in order to allow purely visual expressions to touch their audiences and convey their stories. This was achieved through a greater emphasis on facial expressions and body language. Firstly, one of the greatest movies in the silent era was that by Keaton, Sherlock Jr. This film encompasses all the core principles of telling a story through silence and overcoming the cinematic boundaries of its day. The key to achieving this is through the direct expressiveness of the body language of the actors alongside the plot and how Keaton specifically selected the scenes. The film begins with a love story between a wealthy girl (Kathryn McGuire) and a projectionist at a local movie theatre. His dream to become a detective is what drives the film. A memorable scene in the movie is that in the candy shop when Keaton goes to buy the chocolates for the girl. This was performed entirely in pantomime, allowing the audience to get in touch with the film, and comprehend his desperation to woo the girl. He shadows Crane, who is larger in size than he is, mimicking his body language and gestures. This was done using a tracking shot. Keaton s framing techniques were clear enough to tell the story, particularly when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes, something as simple as one s server can give that extra little edge. Server Side Hardware Requirements The very first iteration of Xbox Live did not even have a name, as it was simply a server system set up by Microsoft to allow video game players the ability to play with other players over the internet. The first Xbox, also known more affectionately as Xbox Original, or XO, was released in 2001. This system was supported by 500 servers, according to Ed Grabianowski and Stephanie Crawford in their 2006 article for Live Technology, which was dispersed through four locations in three countries: the United States, England, and Japan. This initial set up is estimated to have cost Microsoft $500 million, and was considered by the company to be one of the necessary start up costs for their first entry into the console wars. Rich Miller (2013) further reports that the server numbers jumped to over 3,000 when the Xbox 360 (X360) was released in 2005 and again to 300,000 in 2013 with the introduction of Xbox One (X1). With datacenter hubs all over the world now powering the Microsoft Cloud, Xbox Live has become a worldwide recognized name. • 7. Why Was The Colonized England s First Colony Q8. During the 1800s, England was working on expanding their country by taking over other nations. England would then claim that land as their new colony. Next, England would immigrate their native people into their newly claimed land. Overtime, these colonies would become very successful, most of them held enough power to stand on their own. Canada is an example of one of Englands first colony. Canada was colonized first by the European country France. In the coming years, Canada was taken over and colonized by the British. In 1763, England annexed Canada after they had defeated France during the French and Indian War. However, with this newly added land, it would also bring problems of its own. There were two major problem that would grow in Canada. Those problems included religious and cultural differences between the native people and the new immigrants from Britain. • 10. The Role Of The Greek Gods In The Odyssey Lindsey Knight 4/11/17 Before I read the Odyssey, my views on the Greek Gods was a bunch of powerful immortals who watched the world play out in front of them like a game of parcheesi. But now I know that the people around the time of the Trojan War, the gods were believed to cheat, move their pieces more than the dice said, take out an opponent s piece when they weren t supposed to. Odysseus was a piece on the gameboard, and all he wanted to do was get home, but the odds were not always in his favor. Or should I say, the gods. In Greek times, gods were created to have a reason for why things happen on Earth, like rain, sun, and lightning. Of course, we now have scientific evidence of why these things happen, but the gods are still important to our learning today. One reason mythology is important is it debates between the good and evil in men (reference.com). Throughout the Odyssey, we see the conflict between the kind, family man of Odysseus and the grueling, vicious, tough man, fighting for his way home. Of course, it was not smooth sailing, but it could have been smoother with or without the help of the gods. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, and she chose to help Odysseus get home to Ithaca. Allegany County began shortly before the end of slavery in New York and underwent its early period of development in a time when abolitionism, moral reform movements, and related social developments were occurring across Western New York and other parts of the country. This paper will draw on a variety of sources, including archival documents, biographies, monographs, and information provided by local historians, to present an understanding of the developments which occurred. It will make the case abolitionismin Allegany was developed through an interactive and participatory process between the local population, reformist ideas, social developments, relationships of mutual influence with non local elements. Allegany County began in the period of the gradual abolition of slavery in New York. Significant American settlement in the area began near the arrival of the 19th century and the county was declared in 1806. In 1799, New York State had begun a legal process of gradual emancipation of slaves, which culminated in its full prohibition in 1827. In this early period, most settlers did not own slaves, some significant groups (such as a Rhode island group of Seventh Day Baptists who settled in Nile and Alfred) came into the county with anti slavery views, and the local Haudenosaunee were largely unfriendly in sentiments toward slavery. Lila has been smuggling people over the border from Canada to the United States before, while Ray comes into contact with Lila and is forced to transport people from Canada to the United States. It is shown that it is not hard to transport people from both sides of the border, due to the reservation being on both sides of the border, which is separated by the river. Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro choice considers it to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical is because one may tie their religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the potential life that a woman is carrying to be pure and destined for greatness. They may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away from the world a potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a child if she becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running away from responsibility. They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is committing murder. On the other hand, there are people who consider abortion to be ethical because they reason that regardless of the potential life, it is a woman s body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a woman should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is her decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by society. The type of pollution we breathe in can be divided between indoor and outdoor by the different types of air pollution that are released in these environments. Fine particles such as burning fossil fuels (such that come from traffic and energy production), tobacco smoke, and chemical vapors are found in the air breathed in from outdoors, while solvents (such as found in household cleaners and products), mold, and carbon monoxide are sadly breathed in from within homes and businesses on a daily basis. Using Superman as a symbol, Ondrasik unveils the hardship of living up to the expectations of society. Due to his unique abilities and powers, society expects nothings less than perfection from Superman. Having lost his family and home planet It is not easy to be [Superman]. Superman has to fight everything that society tells him to so that he can be himself. He is put on a high pedestal in society and is expected to perform in tough situations. Many people in the world look up to Superman due to his special powers. Society assumes Superman s life is easy and perfect since he has these powers which make a mockery of mere mortals but it is not. Superman wishes people did not think so much of him and tries hard to please everyone. Frustration builds up and Superman feels like killing himself (hence the kryptonite). Superman simply cannot make a mistake since he is always expected to succeed. Similarly, many people in our society are put on high pedestals. Even students like ourselves, are expected to receive straight A s and never score inadequate on a test. Eventually, when these students receive a mediocre grade, they are ashamed of themselves. These students are frightened to inform their parents since their expectations are so high. Athletes are also put under tremendous pressure to perform in big games. Failing is simply not an option. If one fails to succeed, the loss will follow them around for the rest of their lives. A stamp of failure will revolve around their name. Similarly, Superman feels like he is put on a high pedestal. Society does not let Superman cry or dreamsince he is not a normal person. He is not expected to cry or dream . His duty is to protect Earth from deleterious villains and he does not have a choice to say no. Society needs to be less naive and understand that reaching perfection is not possibly. The process known as recrystallization allowed for purification to occur. The solubility and melting point of the substances are accounted for certain substances to be dissolved in certain solvents. The melting point is a certain temperature at which a given substance, in this case a solid, is melted. The melting pointof benzoic acid and naphthalene in this experiment are needed to understand at which temperature the substances are purified. The meltingpoints were denoted in ranges that explained at which points the substance began to melt, and were completely melted. In relation, the melting points of certain substances noted, aided in the selection of which solvents were used. The solvents used were selected in terms that the substance completely will dissolve; however, the impurity is particularly insoluble to that same solvent, for the pure crystals to be collected. Benzoic acid was dissolved in water, being the solvent, because the solubility is higher at higher temperatures. The same goes for naphthalene being dissolved in ethanol. These concepts allowed the process of recrystallization to occur if followed, resulting in the products of purified crystals. Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem 72 generally creates a strong contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia. He chooses particularly emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of Catullus s passion and vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes how much Lesbia has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria talis cogit amare magis, sed bene velle minus, is clear and logical, given Catullus s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Researchers concluded that rejection, emotional and physical pain are all processed in the same places of the brain. • 41. Descriptive Essay On A House Of The House The nipping cold hits my face as I stroll through the woods looking for the cabin that I grew up in. When I trudge through the crunchy snow it makes a sound like it is October with the crisp fallen leaves underneath my feet. Up ahead I soon spot the cabin made out of walnut wood. It looks so magnificent sitting up on top of the hill with the sun beaming its glistening rays from behind on each side. As I enter through the wooden gate surrounding the house I recall all the memories of Christmases before that were made in this house. I remember the good smells and sounds from years past and hope that they come back this year. When I enter into the creaky hundred year old house I see mice sneaking nibbles from leftover cookies that were made last year. As I drop my luggage to the floor dust fills the room. I realize that I should probably clean the house before I start unpacking. After I clean and unpack I go back outside to collect some firewood. While I am out there I get blinded by the sun that is reflecting off of the snow and I almost fall into the flowing river. It isn t quite frozen over yet and the water splashes softly into the ice that is forming. As I walk back to the house with the wood that I have collected I see deer bound up to the river and start drinking. I stop, mesmerized by their beauty. The stiff fur that surrounds them shines in the sun as they drink the bitter cold water. I decide to leave them alone and trot back to the house. The room is undecorated ... • 42. Domination Metaphor And The Boeing Case Introduction The purpose of this memo is to explain the domination metaphor and the Boeing case while relating the two and providing a recommendation for moving forward. The domination metaphor is important to discuss because it explores the idea that some organizations are instruments of domination that impose their will on others to continue their advancement through exploitation. I will be discussing the key points of the domination metaphor, the Boeing case and the necessary OD interventions that address the case in relation to the metaphor. Domination Metaphor: The organism metaphor views organizations as instruments of domination. Morgan says that organizations often have a negative impact on our world (Morgan, 2006, p. 293). The idea of looking at organizations as instruments of domination brings attention to issues such as environmental and social responsibilities of organizations. The metaphor brings up environmental issues by accusing organizations of poisoning the general public through food additives and the pollution of our environment, including our water system. Max Weber identified three types of social domination. People can be dominated through charisma, through tradition (custom), and through rational legal (rules and laws). (Morgan, 2006, p. 291) Within this metaphor, profits are always considered over people while people are exploited or used to better the modern slave driver efficiency (Morgan, 2006, p. 296). The process of calculation The way I use to evaluate share price is Enterprise Value to Sales . This way can ignore growth rate that I need to predict when I use Golden Growth . Firstly, I use historical data to calculate FCF/Revenue and make average. Furthermore, Capital IQ offers the predicted revenue data and I combine it with average FCF/Revenue. In other words, I get projected free cash flow. Secondly, Ibbotson and Capital IQ provide their bond rating, capital structure, average historical long term risk free rate and beta. The reason I use historical risk free rate rather current rate is that it is more stable. According to above information I can find the cost of debt and cost of equity. Moreover, the effective tax rate can be found in their annual report. That is, I calculate the WACC finally. Thirdly, I use EV to Sales ratio in 2011 for the base and use this ratio to multiply revenue in 2015 that I will get terminal value in 2015. Besides, I combine discounted free cash flow from 2012 to 2015 and add 4 year discounted terminal value. • 45. Examples Of Deviance In American History X Jason Tedesco Professor Cubbage Sociology 1 10/15/2014 American History X Deviance There were many examples of the theories of deviance in the film American History X. Deviance or violations of social norms has many forms of revealing itself. American History X is a movie about two brothers who grow up in a society of racism, and prejudice. Their lives, which are fueled by beliefs of white supremacy and anger for the unforeseen death of their father, illustrate the power society has upon shaping the behaviors of its members. As stated in the lecture, some say that biology can explain deviance. Some say that a person with an extra Y chromosome (XYY) or that has a specific body type is more likely to be deviant. Once Derek becomes an active member in the White Supremacist group, the people who he then associates himself with only enhance his hatred and racist lifestyle. Women in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman The part of Stella and Linda are both archetypal female figures in that they follow the typical fictional role of the submissive wife and mother. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stella DuBois (renamed Mrs. Stanley Kowalski) supports and forgives her husband, defending him against any criticism. Likewise, in Death of a Salesman, Linda the only female character with any import is a meek, timid figure around her husband. This weakness is underscored by the sentence structure and diction that each character uses when in conflict with their husband. It is possible that many men desire this sort of unconditional support and forgiveness who ever wants to be blamed for their mistakes and behavior but it is unrealistic to show a woman who tolerates this action even to the point that they end up hurting their husband, or another character. Both of these characters also forgive their husbands in spite of their abuse, and back down during any conflict. At room temperature, fluorine is a yellow gas, chlorine is a pale green gas, bromine is a red liquid, and iodine is a purple solid. Astatine is a radioactive element, therefore it exists only in small amounts. All the halogens exist in diatomic molecules. They have high ionization energies and are the most electronegative elements. Their electron configuration ns2 np5 make them perfect elements in order to react with Group 1 and 2 metals since they want an electron which Group 1 and 2 are willing to give. It was the triiodide ion that is mostly responsible for the orange red brown color since iodide was colourless and since iodine is not very soluble in water. As the reaction was progressing, the coloured solution began to fade to orange, yellow and finally became colourless. As these colour changes occur, the temperature of the solution was decreasing gradually until it has finally reached room temperature. This change in colour was due to two factors. First, all of the solid and dissolved iodine had reacted with the zinc to produce iodide and zinc ions, both of which are colourless substances. Secondly, the red brown solution of triiodide ions also reacted with zinc metal to produce the colourless iodide ions. In the other experiment three pieces of universal pH indicator were placed on a white spotting tile and drop of chlorine water, bromine water and iodine water were transferred on each one of them.
