Welfare Of The United States
Welfare is a subject of debate in the United States because everyone has a different point of view
when it comes to the Social Security Act. On one side the rich may feel that the government takes
from the rich, and gives to the poor. The poor on the other hand may believe that they are being
forgotten and not helped enough by the government. Are the government financial assistance
programs really working and helping people climb out of poverty or are they creating lazy people
who depend on government assistance too much? Poverty has been an issue of great debate in
America for centuries. Before the Social SecurityAct was passed, the United States government did
not have a stable plan to help/aid the poor. It was the local governments responsibility to care for
their disadvantaged. Many Americans believe only the poor receive welfareaid or benefits from the
government, they are misguided, because even though welfare is a program who aids the poor it
also helps most Americas in one way or another. Also, welfare helps big name corporations by
giving them government funding for research he also gives them loans, grants, and tax breaks. In
2015 it was the eightieth year anniversary since President Theodore Roosevelt passed The Social
Security Act law, and the problem has gotten worse not better. The purpose for this act was to help
the unemployed or underemployed during the great depression. However, it extended to the poor
through a variety of programs. In Addition, the

Theme Of Sacrifice In Hamlet
As the great American journalist Norman Cousins once said, The tragedy of life is not death but
what we let die inside of us while we live. Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, it is a
commonly held belief that the play is a legendary tragedy because most of the characters fall to
their deaths. Indeed, when Hamletis analysed, many characters throughout the play meet their own
demise which helps advance this theme. However, when a closer look is taken, it becomes
apparent that the tragedy of Hamlet truly lies in how the characters live their lives. Foremost,
Claudius is a secondary characterwhose selfish actions, contribute to the tragic downfall of his
character. Ophelia s tragedy is, likewise, a result of her passiveness and poor... Show more content

Primarily, Ophelia accepts the social status placed on her by her father, Polonius, by obeying
his manipulative and controlling ways. For instance, when Polonius orders Ophelia to cut off
all contact with her lover Ophelia agrees to follow her father s orders saying, I shall obey, my
lord. (1.3.141). Ophelia s response can be seen as her acceptance towards the restrictions placed
on her by her father. In doing so, Ophelia displays that her weakness lies in her lack of
assertiveness and willpower. By not opposing her father and expressing her own opinions, she is
following the stereotype of submission and obedience placed on women during Shakespeare s
time. Ophelia s betrayal of Hamlet is another decision that leads to her downfall. When Ophelia
is asked by Polonius to spy on Hamlet, she obliges and attempts to deceive him. When Hamlet
asks her where her father is, she shows her betrayal by lying, claiming that Polonius is at home
my lord (3.1.142). By agreeing to spy on Hamlet, Ophelia becomes no different than everyone
else who betrays Hamlet throughout the play. Ophelia even goes as far as betraying her morals
and lying to Hamlet in order to protect herself from the consequences she might face if she
confesses the truth to Hamlet. Ophelia s betrayal to Hamlet is a portrayal of her weakness in her
inability to face her own consequences.

Xerox Corporation is the world s largest supplier of toner based photocopier machines and
associated supplies. In April, 2002, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a
complaint against Xerox for accounting irregularities between 1997 and 2000. Xerox recorded
revenues from copy machine leases by recognizing a sale in the period a lease contract was signed
instead of recognizing revenue over the entire length of the contract.

The accounting irregularities increased fiscal year 1997 pre tax earnings by $405 million, 1998 pre
tax earnings by $655 million, and 1999 pre tax earnings by $511 million. Xerox s senior
management was aware of the accounting actions that were taken to meet revenue and profit goals.
Xerox s auditors KPMG complied with management s request related to accounting practices in
order to maintain relationship with Xerox and to protect the audit and non audit fees to be received
between 1997 and 2000.
In response to the SEC s complaint, Xerox Corporation agreed to pay a $10 million penalty and
to restate its financial results for the years 1997 through 2000. In June 2003, six Xerox senior
executives accused of securities fraud who agreed to pay $22 million in penalties.
In January, 2003, the SEC filed a complaint against Xerox s auditors, KPMG alleging four

How Do Humans Affect Polar Bears
The Polar bear lives in the artic and uses the area s costal waters and ice sheets. They are well
equipped to live in this environment because they have a thick coat which serves as an insulator.
They mainly prey on seals but have also been known to consume dead whales. They can grow to
be 7.25 to 8 feet tall and can weigh around 900 to 1,600 pounds. Polar bears are a keystone
species, if their numbers decrease there is a possibility that the seal populations will increase
which could be devastating for crustaceans and fish. They help keep populations in balance. Global

Bruce Dawe Consumerism
Good afternoon/morning ladies and gentlemen. Consumerism is defined by the English oxford
dictionary as continual expansion of one s wants and needs for goods and services. Bruce Dawes
poems Televistas and Enter Without So Much As Knocking critique the powerful and persuasive
influence that companies have on our society.
Consumerism leads to self gratification and the loss of life s important values such as friendship,
love and religion; this is an ever growing issue that manipulates and deceives society and has done
so since the beginning of the technological age.
Bruce Dawes poetry highlights his concerns and devotion towards the ordinary consumer and how
easily manipulated and rocked by the media they may be. He does this through the use of ironic
humor, clichГ©, hyperbole and many other language features that are extensively used in his poetry.

The poem Enter without so much as knocking begins with the innocence of a baby being exposed
to the harsh materialistic world seconds after birth. The capitalization of the words HOSPITAL
SILENCE presents the idea of sings which are controlling the way we live. This is reinforced
further into the poem when the baby is considered an adult and is truly introduced to the
consumerism of the society.
Capitalized words again represent the words the man reads on signs. Dawe mocks these signs by
including NO BREATHING EXCEPT BY ORDER which is using irony, as it is impossible to be
able to control when people can and cant breathe. At the end of the poem the non capitalization of
the world silence shows that it is silence rather than a gins demanding silence. This shows that the
only way to escape the miser of a noisy consumerist society is through

The Tragedy And Horror Of The Joplin Tornado
It is my belief that the attachment of positive interpretations to the tragedy and horror of the Joplin
tornado, and the repetition of such themes through continuous narration, directly affected
community ethos. This, in turn, helped further select the features of the collective narrative shared
with the nation through national news. The national attention to Joplin, spurred those wanting to
help in the wake of such devastation and those in admiration of the community s own resilience to
volunteer time and resources to the recovery effort. Cast as an all American city in the Heartland of
the nation, the positive ethos and determination demonstrated by Joplin citizens transformed the
community s identity from a virtually unknown place in Missouri to a symbol of the nation, a
transformation further encouraged through the wording of public statements by President Obama
and Governor Nixon as well as featuring Joplin on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and other
television shows. To the nation, Joplin became a place amid an undifferentiated region, except to
locals, known as fly over states. Theoretical Implications Disasters are totalizing events, impacting
and influencing every aspect of a community when they occur. As the anthropology of disaster
grows, both in the number of publications and the number of researchers, the scope of topics related
to disasters will also grow. Economic implications, vulnerable populations, and human ecology

Stereotypes Of Women In Math Essay
In the mathematical field there is an obvious differentiation between the amount of males and
females in the field. This might raise the question of why that is or if there even is a specific reason,
well there is, women are heavily pushed away from mathematical careers due to multiple factors.
Although there are not many females in the math field, the ones that are bring different ways of
thinking into light which helps the math careers grow and improve. Even though women do have
different perspectives and outlooks on things, the way they do math is not very different, but
unfortunately when put in pressured situations women seem to underperform compared to when
they are in a calm, unpressured environment. One way that people could rid of... Show more content

They both have different ways of solving math and men most times have the advantage over
women due to the heavy impact of stereotypes on women. In the article Knowing is Half the Battle:
Teaching Stereotypes Threats as a Means of Improving Women s Math Performance it states that
there are many affects that stereotypes have on women that effect their performance including
anxiety and other affective and cognitive responses. (John) When stereotypes are put into play, they
cause problems and the people cannot perform properly because they start to believe the lies of the
stereotypes. One thing from New Trends in Gender and Mathematics Performance: A Meta
Analysis writes that women perform better in a setting where there are no stereotypes versus a
setting that has stereotypes. (Lindberg) This shows that college student women do not perform
well when they are pressured by the stereotypes people say to them, but when put in a place where
there are no stereotypes pressuring them they do better in their mathematical performance.
Stereotypes are one of the main reasons that females have trouble with competing against males,
because they feel that they are not good enough. Stereotypes are a huge problem when deciding
what to do for a career, but when there is a way to deplete stereotypes it might change the

Why are personal experiences influence to a person s thoughts and how does it impact on his or

advisor s enthusiastic reaction to a patient can be seen as a wellspring of profitable symptomatic

patients and the patients would further absorb it or abstain from the therapy. In addition, it is
important to find out what the reasons behind to steer towards a person s thoughts. As a therapeutic

Cultural bound syndromes can either cause somatic complains, or can be simply behavioral

to suggest that cultural based syndromes represent behaviors that may be acceptable in certain
regions (Wilkinson 2000). Conversely, this disorders maybe highly disregarded in other areas.
Ataque De Nervios Ataque De Nervios is an example of cultural bound syndrome among the
Hispanics. Illustratively, the disorder is characterized by crying hysterically, rickety, out of

Ostensibly, the disorder is said to be as result of attacks by evil spirits and demonic visitations.
In essence, the symptoms are associated with stressful events such as the death of a loved one, a
traumatic experience involving a loved one, divorce, or separation of in a marriage union. In this
regard, this syndrome is only unique among the Hispanics, in other regions it may be viewed as a
normal way of venting out anger. The Diathesis Stress Model In principle, this theory seeks to
explain behavior as a predisposition vulnerability that is coupled up by experiences that are stresses

Osteoporosis Is An Age Related Disease Of The Skeletal System
Introduction:
Osteoporosis is an age related disease of the skeletal system characterized by both low bone mass
and bone structural degeneration (Nunes, 2011). Understanding osteoporosis is important because
it is continues to be overlooked and undertreated, causing high numbers of bone fractures each year
in the elderly, these bone fractures can be debilitating or even life threatening (Eastell, 2009).
Osteoporosis manifests when an imbalance between bone resorption and bone rebuilding occurs
this is due to changes in osteoclast and osteoblast activity. I chose this topic because osteoporosis
affects millions of people, and research will allow me to better understand this common yet
complex, and very perilous bone disease.
Types:
There are two types of osteoporosis, primary and secondary. Primary osteoporosis is more
common and has no direct cause. It is usually more prevalent in women who are postmenopausal
where the rate of bone loss increases while the rate of bone regeneration decreases. Secondary
osteoporosis, unlike primary, has a direct cause, such as an illness like leukemia, cushings
syndrome, or type 1 diabetes. These diseases cause an increase in bone resorption, and weakening
of the bones.
Pathophysiology:
Bones are made up of two layers, the trabecular and cortical layers. The trabecular layer is internal
and spongy like, where the cortical layer is external and more compact. These layers are
continuously broken down and reformed by two cells known as

Evolutionary Ideas and the Biblical Concept of Creation
Evolutionary Ideas and the Biblical Concept of Creation
Creation and evolution come from two very different viewpoints. The main differences here are
that in the story of creation in the beginning there was God, and in the theory of evolution in the
beginning there was random chance. The conflict between the two is often referred to as The
Great Debate because everyone asks the question why are we here and how are we here? they can
either look to the bible or science for answers. They are completely unlike answers to one another
but both agree on one thing that the universe has not existed eternally. There are problems with the

The biblical creation story believes in a divine Creator. (However, some Christians, regarding the
creation of the world, also believe in evolution. They say that the process of evolution is carried
out by the acts of God). People who believe in biblical creation (creationists) believe that all basic
types of living beings, including man, were made by the acts of God during the creation week
in Genesis in the Bible. Biblical creation is more supernatural than evolution, and is viewed as a
miracle. Creation in the bible was brought about by direct acts of God as opposed to a natural,
gradual process. In the BEGINNING God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1).
Creation took place in the beginning and was finished and complete it was not spread out over
the long period of time history of the universe. Creation was by the word of the God, the creator
and He spoke things into existence. In Genesis 1 we read of a series of And God said statements.
Also we read in Psalm 33, By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of
them by the breath of his mouth. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Creationists also believe that all geological matter in the world was laid down by a worldwide
flood, as told in the story of Noah, and that life arose

Giant Steppes Toward Freedom by Ancestors
It is difficult for many Americans today to imagine taking everything they own and moving to a
new country because of religious and political freedoms. With these freedoms taken so much for
granted, we rarely think of the steps taken by our ancestors to gain that liberty. When looking at
attempts in history to gain freedom, it is usual to look to the founding fathers of America and
their sacrifices. However, other groups of people have strived for the same thing, one such group
being the people of the divided German states shortly after the Seven Year s War. Through several
generations of Germans, these people moved across country, across continent, and eventually even
across the ocean to America in order to gain that much desired freedom. In about 1763, the
Germans were experiencing many problems. With the seven years war just behind them, much of
the land had been destroyed. Crops were trampled, and properties were decimated, making the
living conditions in Germany very difficult. On top of that, the war had left the political system in
a state of chaos. At that time, Germany was not together as a nation but was rather divided into
forty two different states. Unified Germany as we know it today did not come about until much
later, in about 1872. During this time minority religions struggled in the German states. Evangelical
Christians such as Baptists were not looked well upon, as well as Mennonites who were pacifists
and did not believe in serving in the military.

The Importance Of Technology In Communication
Technology can play a positive role in communication ,example, live video and audio chats that
increase understanding through nonverbal messages and increase connection at the same time.
While technology like iMessaging can have a negative influence because it lacks nonverbal
communication, can often be distracting us from life, makes people anxious when they have to
wait for people to respond, is highly susceptible to misunderstandings and makes people feel lonely.
On the other hand, FaceTime has been able to provide expressions and voice cues that help bring
meaning to verbal messages which enhances trust and decreases the amount of misunderstandings
that go on in conversations. While, the relationship that is most influenced by technology is my
friends at Uconn because we spend most of the relationship face to face.
A new communication technology I believe is having a positive influence on interpersonal
relationships is FaceTime. FaceTime allows nonverbal communication to happen, which is one of
the most important forms of communication as it plays a role in about sixty five percent of all face
to face conversations. For example, my best friend and I would communicate about our daily
troubles through FaceTime. We thought this would be beneficial to our friendshipbecause through
FaceTime we were able to distinguish other s feelings. If they looked for example ,like they were
feeling sympathetic or empathetic, we would figure that they have sincere intentions. Knowing

Periodontitis Cigarette Smoking
Cigarette smoking not only has a negative effect on respiratory and cardiovascular health, but also
has been associated with diabetes, gastrointestinal and thyroid diseases, and almost every other
organ system in the body (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Linked to various cancers, smoking is
extremely detrimental (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Smokingis also the major risk factor for
periodontitis (Preshaw et al, 2015). While increasing the prevalence of periodontitis, smoking also
has a profound effect on the severity of periodontal disease in individuals (Preshaw et al, 2015). The
third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) in 2000 found that 41.9%
of periodontitis cases in the United States were attributable to current cigarettesmoking (Tomar
Asma, 2000). Smokers have a four times greater chance to be diagnosed with periodontitis
(Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Indeed, patients who are smokers also do not appear to respond as
favourably to periodontal treatment and show a greater risk of refractory and/or recurrent
periodontal disease (Fardal, 2008). Multiple studies show that smoking has the potential to alter
numerous processes in the oral cavity (Preshaw et al, 2015). Most notably, smoking has been
shown to modify various aspects of physiology in patients, impair immunological response and
alter the microflora of the oral cavity (Presahaw et al, 2015).... Show more content on

by the public a long time ago. In 1992, Walter Lippmann (1992), a newspaper columnist, argued that
the mass mediahas the ability to produce images of events that can be present to the public. Since

During the test, the participant is shown a series of inkblot cards and directed to respond to each

Women s Influence On Society
In the Later Middle Ages in Europe, power was one of the main drives on society. The limited
amount of people who had power in society gained it through religious or governmental
affiliation. Since the church and the christian faith was the main aspect of, generally, everyone s
lives during that time, those who held religious powers played important roles in society.
However, power was not even among the different genders of society. In a male dominated
society, women scarcely could have power in society. Women could primary receive power
through some type of religious affiliation, but could not hold powers in the government.
Nonetheless, they were able to influence society through the little power that they did have. Their
power derived from the prestige of being a religious leader. Nonetheless, the little power women
had was often questioned by men. Source documents 11 5, 11 6, and 12 5 explore women in
society during these times. Although similar in being in the time period of the middle ages, each
document also has characteristic differences about women during that time. In her Letter to
Gregory XI, Catherine of Siena uses her status as a nun to influence the main political and religious
issue of that time. She wrote to PopeGregory XI urging him to relocate the religious capital from
Avignon back to its original location in Rome. Previously, Pope Clement V had relocated the capital
to Avignon for secular reason. After the relocation, the succeeding popes

Being A Coach
The importance of being a coach of a team is to encourage teamwork and enhance self confidence

The coaching role would include things like helping the team flow as one single unit other than
multiple little units, to help increase skill and teamwork and put the players together to create a
winning outcome. At their worst, coaches can push the psychological, emotional, and physical

The first concern with being a coach is where to start with training the players. The coach is to
measure skill levels of the individuals, their mentality of the sport, and also, how they interact
with each other is key to being a coach. Secondly, the most important role of a coach is to be the
role model for his/her players and to be able to have patients and be forthright more often then not.
A great place to start coaching is by understanding the dynamics of the team. This is the process of
figuring out how team members relate to one another (Understand Team Dynamics). Forming
positive relationships with the players and also, the parents to acquire trust and assure the players a
comfortable environment would help with understanding dynamics. Gaining positive attitudes from
everyone involved will show a growth in skill relationship between the teammates, also the positive
attitude will make practices, games, and constructive criticism easier to come by. Having patients
with the less skilled is something that every coach needs to have. Individual athletes look to
coaches for leadership and encouragement beyond the sports environment, and this also carries
over to athletic performance. According to Athletic Insight, the relationship between a coach and
a student athlete determines overall motivation and stress levels (Leadership and Individual
Performance). From personal experience, when I had gotten along with a coach, and they were
easy to talk to, the practices were more fun to go to, the games were easier and all the players
played as one unit. Getting constructive criticism was easy to take and I became very coachable.
The coach has more responsibilities than just holding a practice, game, having a plan to the game
or practice, but also bringing a friendly and easy environment to be involved in. Coaches can push
the psychological, emotional, and physical limits of their players to the point of harm, create

The horror and hostility of the war made the soldiers despair so much that they were happy to

he moved, and strong. He had slim hips...sharp shoulders...a taught stomach that made him look

Many philosophers have made important contributions to the discourse on liberty, Bastiat among
them. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and
made ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat
recognized the greatest single threat to liberty is government.
Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense
(pg. 2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what
individuals have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave
the same rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not
exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property
existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural
or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The
Law. The law was created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts.
Justice is achieved only when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these
three goals, the law becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by
the greed and false philanthropy

How Spirit Airlines With American Airlines Essay
WHY I CHOSE THIS COMPANY
Founded in 1964, Spirit Airlines actually began operations in the trucking industry under the name
Clippert Trucking Company, based in Michigan. In subsequent years the firm encountered many
changes in name, headquarters, as well as shifted into different industries entirely. In 1983, the
company branched out into the charter tour operating sector, as Charter One. Particularly, they
provided tours to entertainment destinations such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the islands to the
southeast of Florida known as The Bahamas.
Almost three decades late in 1992, the company officially changed its name to the ultra low cost
passenger carrier company we all know today as Spirit Airlines, which is based in Fort Lauderdale
Hollywood International Airport, under CEO Ben Baldanza. These series of changes in industry, in
combination with the fact that I am an avid Spirit flyer, definitely sparked my interest in further
investigating the financial stance of the company.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to compare Spirit Airlines with American Airlines using the financial
ratios of liquidity, activity, debt, profitability and the market, and to derive some concrete
conclusions about the financial nature of Spirit Airlines. According to Spirit Airlines (2015)
Historic Stock Lookup, from 2011 to 2014, the year end stock prices have increased by 79.4%,
which is outstanding. Thus, Spirit Airlines will be used as a benchmark in terms of comparing

Heave in Hell in C.S. LewisВґ The Great Divorce Essay
In his novel The Great Divorce, C.S. Lewis depicts two settings: one of a grey town where
whatever you want is provided for you and another of grand pasture. These settings, in the book,
represent Heaven in Hell in a way, depending on which character s perspective the places are
viewed from. However, the places that the main character visits and the journey that he takes is one
that can be used to model the journey of our spiritual walk. Similar to how the protagonist starts in a
bleak town then travels through a beautiful but harsh pasture towards the mountains, our lives start
in the darkness of sin, but then we travel through the treacherous but worthwhile journey of faith
towards eternity with God.
As humans, we are born into sin; from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But there is salvation through Christ. In the novel, the protagonist and others travel to the most
glorious landscape they ve ever seen. They soon find that the land is so dense that it takes all of
their strength to lift merely a leaf; the grass pokes up into their feet, making the terrain difficult to
cross. The solid people of what we soon learn is Heaven promise that walking upon the grass
towards the mountains will hurt less at every step. It s understood that the mountains represent the
city of Heaven, or an eternal life with God. Crossing the terrain is similar to the trials we face on
our walk with Him; 2 Timothy 3:12 mentions that Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in
Christ Jesus will be persecuted, but James 1:12 asserts, Blessed is the man who remains steadfast
under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has
promised to those who love him. Indeed, as the solid people continually promise, the journey
becomes easier the closer the ghosts get to the mountains. In a similar fashion, our walks with Him
become less tumultuous as we grow closer to Him, until our eventual deaths where we can finally
be with Him in heaven.
There is a point where this general model fails, though. Ephesians 2:8 states, For by grace you
have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. This verse is
the basis of sola fide, meaning we as humans are given the

Hyper Normalization Adam Curtiss
The video HyperNormalization by Adam Curtis is a documentary looking at the world around
us, how it has evolved over the past 50 years, and how individuals have reacted and responded to
the changes. To engage the viewer and develop a more expansive view of the issue society faces,
Adam Curtis incorporates many major events and political and social trends that have molded and
are continuing to mold and shape the worldtoday; trends such as the endless migrant crisis and
major events such as the bombing of the world trade center. In this film, the documentarian
focuses on this idea of hyper normalization. This is the idea that leaders in society have created
this new, fake world which they live in; a sort of over exaggerated normal. They... Show more

  • 4. Welfare Of The United States Welfare is a subject of debate in the United States because everyone has a different point of view when it comes to the Social Security Act. On one side the rich may feel that the government takes from the rich, and gives to the poor. The poor on the other hand may believe that they are being forgotten and not helped enough by the government. Are the government financial assistance programs really working and helping people climb out of poverty or are they creating lazy people who depend on government assistance too much? Poverty has been an issue of great debate in America for centuries. Before the Social SecurityAct was passed, the United States government did not have a stable plan to help/aid the poor. It was the local governments responsibility to care for their disadvantaged. Many Americans believe only the poor receive welfareaid or benefits from the government, they are misguided, because even though welfare is a program who aids the poor it also helps most Americas in one way or another. Also, welfare helps big name corporations by giving them government funding for research he also gives them loans, grants, and tax breaks. In 2015 it was the eightieth year anniversary since President Theodore Roosevelt passed The Social Security Act law, and the problem has gotten worse not better. The purpose for this act was to help the unemployed or underemployed during the great depression. However, it extended to the poor through a variety of programs. In Addition, the ... • 5. Theme Of Sacrifice In Hamlet As the great American journalist Norman Cousins once said, The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live. Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, it is a commonly held belief that the play is a legendary tragedy because most of the characters fall to their deaths. Indeed, when Hamletis analysed, many characters throughout the play meet their own demise which helps advance this theme. However, when a closer look is taken, it becomes apparent that the tragedy of Hamlet truly lies in how the characters live their lives. Foremost, Claudius is a secondary characterwhose selfish actions, contribute to the tragic downfall of his character. Ophelia s tragedy is, likewise, a result of her passiveness and poor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Primarily, Ophelia accepts the social status placed on her by her father, Polonius, by obeying his manipulative and controlling ways. For instance, when Polonius orders Ophelia to cut off all contact with her lover Ophelia agrees to follow her father s orders saying, I shall obey, my lord. (1.3.141). Ophelia s response can be seen as her acceptance towards the restrictions placed on her by her father. In doing so, Ophelia displays that her weakness lies in her lack of assertiveness and willpower. By not opposing her father and expressing her own opinions, she is following the stereotype of submission and obedience placed on women during Shakespeare s time. Ophelia s betrayal of Hamlet is another decision that leads to her downfall. When Ophelia is asked by Polonius to spy on Hamlet, she obliges and attempts to deceive him. When Hamlet asks her where her father is, she shows her betrayal by lying, claiming that Polonius is at home my lord (3.1.142). By agreeing to spy on Hamlet, Ophelia becomes no different than everyone else who betrays Hamlet throughout the play. Ophelia even goes as far as betraying her morals and lying to Hamlet in order to protect herself from the consequences she might face if she confesses the truth to Hamlet. Ophelia s betrayal to Hamlet is a portrayal of her weakness in her inability to face her own consequences. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consumerism is defined by the English oxford dictionary as continual expansion of one s wants and needs for goods and services. Bruce Dawes poems Televistas and Enter Without So Much As Knocking critique the powerful and persuasive influence that companies have on our society. Consumerism leads to self gratification and the loss of life s important values such as friendship, love and religion; this is an ever growing issue that manipulates and deceives society and has done so since the beginning of the technological age. Bruce Dawes poetry highlights his concerns and devotion towards the ordinary consumer and how easily manipulated and rocked by the media they may be. He does this through the use of ironic humor, clichГ©, hyperbole and many other language features that are extensively used in his poetry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The Tragedy And Horror Of The Joplin Tornado It is my belief that the attachment of positive interpretations to the tragedy and horror of the Joplin tornado, and the repetition of such themes through continuous narration, directly affected community ethos. This, in turn, helped further select the features of the collective narrative shared with the nation through national news. The national attention to Joplin, spurred those wanting to help in the wake of such devastation and those in admiration of the community s own resilience to volunteer time and resources to the recovery effort. Cast as an all American city in the Heartland of the nation, the positive ethos and determination demonstrated by Joplin citizens transformed the community s identity from a virtually unknown place in Missouri to a symbol of the nation, a transformation further encouraged through the wording of public statements by President Obama and Governor Nixon as well as featuring Joplin on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and other television shows. To the nation, Joplin became a place amid an undifferentiated region, except to locals, known as fly over states. Theoretical Implications Disasters are totalizing events, impacting and influencing every aspect of a community when they occur. As the anthropology of disaster grows, both in the number of publications and the number of researchers, the scope of topics related to disasters will also grow. Although there are not many females in the math field, the ones that are bring different ways of thinking into light which helps the math careers grow and improve. In the article Knowing is Half the Battle: Teaching Stereotypes Threats as a Means of Improving Women s Math Performance it states that there are many affects that stereotypes have on women that effect their performance including anxiety and other affective and cognitive responses. (John) When stereotypes are put into play, they cause problems and the people cannot perform properly because they start to believe the lies of the stereotypes. Osteoporosis Is An Age Related Disease Of The Skeletal System Introduction: Osteoporosis is an age related disease of the skeletal system characterized by both low bone mass and bone structural degeneration (Nunes, 2011). With these freedoms taken so much for granted, we rarely think of the steps taken by our ancestors to gain that liberty. When looking at attempts in history to gain freedom, it is usual to look to the founding fathers of America and their sacrifices. However, other groups of people have strived for the same thing, one such group being the people of the divided German states shortly after the Seven Year s War. Through several generations of Germans, these people moved across country, across continent, and eventually even across the ocean to America in order to gain that much desired freedom. In about 1763, the Germans were experiencing many problems. With the seven years war just behind them, much of the land had been destroyed. Crops were trampled, and properties were decimated, making the living conditions in Germany very difficult. On top of that, the war had left the political system in a state of chaos. At that time, Germany was not together as a nation but was rather divided into forty two different states. Unified Germany as we know it today did not come about until much later, in about 1872. During this time minority religions struggled in the German states. Evangelical Christians such as Baptists were not looked well upon, as well as Mennonites who were pacifists and did not believe in serving in the military. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nonetheless, they were able to influence society through the little power that they did have. Their power derived from the prestige of being a religious leader. Nonetheless, the little power women had was often questioned by men. Source documents 11 5, 11 6, and 12 5 explore women in society during these times. Although similar in being in the time period of the middle ages, each document also has characteristic differences about women during that time. In her Letter to Gregory XI, Catherine of Siena uses her status as a nun to influence the main political and religious issue of that time. She wrote to PopeGregory XI urging him to relocate the religious capital from Avignon back to its original location in Rome. Previously, Pope Clement V had relocated the capital to Avignon for secular reason. After the relocation, the succeeding popes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Being A Coach The importance of being a coach of a team is to encourage teamwork and enhance self confidence on the pitch, as well as off. The coach is the structural foundation of developing a successful team. The coaching role would include things like helping the team flow as one single unit other than multiple little units, to help increase skill and teamwork and put the players together to create a winning outcome. At their worst, coaches can push the psychological, emotional, and physical limits of their players to the point of deleterious conduct, create a hostile and unfair environment, and turn young athletes away from sports forever. The first concern with being a coach is where to start with training the players. The coach is to measure skill levels of the individuals, their mentality of the sport, and also, how they interact with each other is key to being a coach. Secondly, the most important role of a coach is to be the role model for his/her players and to be able to have patients and be forthright more often then not. A great place to start coaching is by understanding the dynamics of the team. This is the process of figuring out how team members relate to one another (Understand Team Dynamics). Forming positive relationships with the players and also, the parents to acquire trust and assure the players a comfortable environment would help with understanding dynamics. Gaining positive attitudes from everyone involved will show a growth in skill relationship between the teammates, also the positive attitude will make practices, games, and constructive criticism easier to come by. Having patients with the less skilled is something that every coach needs to have. Individual athletes look to coaches for leadership and encouragement beyond the sports environment, and this also carries over to athletic performance. According to Athletic Insight, the relationship between a coach and a student athlete determines overall motivation and stress levels (Leadership and Individual Performance). From personal experience, when I had gotten along with a coach, and they were easy to talk to, the practices were more fun to go to, the games were easier and all the players played as one unit. Getting constructive criticism was easy to take and I became very coachable. The coach has more responsibilities than just holding a practice, game, having a plan to the game or practice, but also bringing a friendly and easy environment to be involved in. Coaches can push the psychological, emotional, and physical limits of their players to the point of harm, create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These techniques are the powerful narrative, strong pictorial language, and black humour. Above all, the message is conveyed in the narrative, especially when Louis De Bernieres graphically describes the war s impact on the soldiers who are fighting for their country. At first, the soldiers are united in their fight against the enemy you are all young and strong, overflowing with life, and you are all in this shit together page 38. By describing this degradation of morale and emotions, Louis de Bernieres powerfully shows the physical and mental effect of war on the soldiers. A good example of this deterioration is Mandras. All of the states who use Common Core can be an advantage by allowing students who move state to state to have the same standards at school. Standards are ways to track the learning of students and are what the students are supposed to know in each subject and grade level. Currently, there has been controversy about Common Core. Valerie Lake, an eighth grade English teacher, believes that the CC intensifies the complexity of what the teachers have to teach, but realizes that her students can actually learn/understand more than what we (teachers) think. On the other hand, this makes the students think more which in turn helps them learn and apply their skills to the test. He did most of his writing during the years before and after the Revolution of February 1848. This was the period when France was rapidly turning to complete socialism. As a Deputy to the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Bastiat was studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And he explained how socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most of his countrymen chose to ignore his logic. The fight against socialism drained Bastiat s already fading energy, and by 1850 a mere six years alter his first published article and only two since his election to the National Assembly he was on his deathbed. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and made ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized the greatest single threat to liberty is government. Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg. 2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the greed and false philanthropy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Spirit Airlines With American Airlines Essay WHY I CHOSE THIS COMPANY Founded in 1964, Spirit Airlines actually began operations in the trucking industry under the name Clippert Trucking Company, based in Michigan. In subsequent years the firm encountered many changes in name, headquarters, as well as shifted into different industries entirely. In 1983, the company branched out into the charter tour operating sector, as Charter One. Particularly, they provided tours to entertainment destinations such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the islands to the southeast of Florida known as The Bahamas. Almost three decades late in 1992, the company officially changed its name to the ultra low cost passenger carrier company we all know today as Spirit Airlines, which is based in Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, under CEO Ben Baldanza. These series of changes in industry, in combination with the fact that I am an avid Spirit flyer, definitely sparked my interest in further investigating the financial stance of the company. PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to compare Spirit Airlines with American Airlines using the financial ratios of liquidity, activity, debt, profitability and the market, and to derive some concrete conclusions about the financial nature of Spirit Airlines. These settings, in the book, represent Heaven in Hell in a way, depending on which character s perspective the places are viewed from. However, the places that the main character visits and the journey that he takes is one that can be used to model the journey of our spiritual walk. In the novel, the protagonist and others travel to the most glorious landscape they ve ever seen. They soon find that the land is so dense that it takes all of their strength to lift merely a leaf; the grass pokes up into their feet, making the terrain difficult to cross. The solid people of what we soon learn is Heaven promise that walking upon the grass towards the mountains will hurt less at every step. It s understood that the mountains represent the city of Heaven, or an eternal life with God. Crossing the terrain is similar to the trials we face on our walk with Him; 2 Timothy 3:12 mentions that Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, but James 1:12 asserts, Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Indeed, as the solid people continually promise, the journey becomes easier the closer the ghosts get to the mountains. In a similar fashion, our walks with Him become less tumultuous as we grow closer to Him, until our eventual deaths where we can finally be with Him in heaven. There is a point where this general model fails, though. Ephesians 2:8 states, For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
