Essay on A South Korean Company that Operates in China
A South Korean Company that Operates in China
This report address s the requirements at hand to select a South Korean company that has
operations in China
Executive Summary:
In 1992, Samsung Electronics adopted the form of a wholly owned subsidiary as the entry mode
into China. It s entry into China was in order to maintain growth due to the tough competition in
Korea. China was selected in order to take advantage of its low wages for the mass production of
low to medium priced products. The initial manufacturing ground was at Tianjin due to its costal
location hence making it easy to export abroad and to major locations in China. The original focus
of producing low cost products resulted in a cheap image of Samsung in ... Show more content on

After a decade of rapid economic growth, in 1997 many South East Asian countries were subject to
a catastrophic economic crisis. The problems endured involved both immediate crisis management
in unstable financial markets and the medium term restructuring and repositioning of their
economies in the face of intensified export competition.
South Korea had a large current account deficit and the maintenance of pegged exchange rates
encouraged external borrowing and led to excessive exposure to foreign exchange risk in both the
financial and corporate sectors. Economists have advanced the impact of Mainland
China on the real economy as a contributing factor to the crisis.
China had begun to compete effectively with other Asian exporters particularly in the 1990s after
the implementation of a number of export oriented reforms. Western importers sought cheaper
manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency was depreciated relative to the
dollar. The report will address the corporate re alignment by Samsung in order to ride out the
economic filtering of the region in which it was operating.

Deer Antlers Research Paper
For many years, people have hunted Cervidae formally known as deer for not only their meat, but
for the size of their racks or more known as antlers. Along with deer, moose, caribou, and elks are
hunted for their enormous antlers. Although some people mix horns with antlers, they are
completely two different structures. Horns are made of keratin and continuously grow while antlers
are bony structures that fall off and regrow again. While deershed and regrow antlers, the antlers
repair themselves without leaving a mark. Even though antlers portrayed for looks they serve many
purposes such as dominance and protection. When male deer are first born they are not born with
their antlers. Researcher J. Price says that antlers are cranial appendages that develop after birth and
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the development of the antlers they contain mainly water and protein so this depends all
on the animals nutrition and body weight (Price 2004). As this process goes on the deer starts to
grow hair on top of the antlers which carry the nerves and blood vessels. This specific hair
coverage is called velvet. This spongy bone then turns into hard, compacted bones on the outside
while the centers become filled with a coarse, lamellar bone and marrow specs (Price 2004).
Depending on the season, antlers stop growing near the later part of summer of the early part of
fall. Once this occurs, the velvet is then rubbed off by rubbing up against trees called casting.
This means that the deer s testosterone level has dropped (Price 2004). This process will reoccur
every year throughout the deer s life span. Although it is primarily males that have antlers there is
an exception in some species such that females can obtain antlers as well. Such species include
reindeer and caribou. Although the females have antler, they are relatively smaller than the males
says researcher Eigil Reimers. So why do the female reindeer and caribou have antler? Maybe

Public management over a course of time has seen an influx in societal workforce dilemmas which
have rapidly transformed organizational structures in government to how HR professional translate
policies and procedures. As public events continue to rise and the demands for spontaneous,
strategic, and creative solutions are sought after effortlessly, society is faced with the need to

Gary Hamel (2011) spoke on the essence of: the reinvention of management techniques which,
challenged managers to rethink how they perform operational functions; in order to, create a solid
structure within the current market. Additionally, his [Hamel] presentation broke the seal on
stagnate managers and a need to reinvent themselves. Often in many organizational cultures there
lays very rigid, traditional and obsolete practices which struggles to remain existent. Organizations
are now flooded with multigenerational groups; where baby boomers sought to develop their
succession plan exit; now baby boomer are forecasted to have an large representation within the
future workforce alongside generation X and Y s. In the past, managers were more seasoned,
traditional in administration processes and managed a younger workforce. Due to the current
market shift [and potentially the future], managers are comprised of recent college graduates,
ingenuities on developments, and overseers of both seasoned and youthful employees. The idea of
managing the future workforce will require nuggets given by Gary Hamal (2011): (1) Challenge the
change which is currently changing, (2) construct innovations that involves everyone, and (3)
manage the diversified commodity of knowledge effectively. Authors, Martha Crumpacker and Jill

How to correct posture may have been known by people who spend so much time working on a
desk facing the computer. For sure, those who are reading this now have been told many times
during their childhood days to stand erect and breast out. This is an advice from our parents and
our beloved teachers which we have forgotten over time.
Although we have thought by our teachers the proper way of correct posture, it seems like it
just faded in our lives and just disregarded the idea. May be because we were too young to know it,
and we were too young to feel the effects of a bad posture. And now as we grow old, back pains,
headaches and all other body pains invade us, something we never expect to happen and something
we are not aware of the main cause of pain. bad posture has greatly affect what you experience
now, those pains in your back, bad posture may not be the main cause but it is on contributory
factor you never expected. Am I right?
Your posture can be affected with different factors such as your state of

How useful are models of self confidence in developing our...
How useful are models of self confidence in deepening our understanding of sporting
performance? Confidence has been outlined as an important and essential mental skill in sporting
performance by both athletes and coaches according to Vealey and Chase, 2008. There is a
general consensus of support by the literature for a positive relationship between confidence and
performance (Moritz, Feltz, Fahrbach, Mack, 2000 cited by Machida, Ward and Vealey, 2012). In
developing an understanding of these models of confidence and efficacy it has become a primary
target to increase the confidence of athletes at specific psychological interventions (Hanton Jones,
1999; Mamassis Doganis, 2004 cited by Machida, Ward and Vealey, 2012). There are two

First, enactive mastery experiences were the most powerful source of self efficacy. Second,
golfers maintained high self efficacy over time by recalling prior success, strategically framing

Finally, self efficacy influenced professional golfers thought patterns, outcome expectations, and
emotional states. Findings support and refine the theoretical tenets of Bandura s social
cognitive theory. (Valiante and Morris, 2013). Sport confidence is defined as the beliefs in
individual s capability to be successful in sport (Vealey, 1986). The sport confidence model
builds on Bandura s model of self efficacy. Vealey et al, (1998) identified nine sources of sport
confidence that are unique to the context of competitive sport. These include mastery (i.e.
improving skills in the sporting context), demonstration of ability (i.e. showing off abilities to
others or out performing an opponent), physical /mental preparation (i.e. feeling physically and
mentally prepared for competition) and physical self presentation (i.e. one s physical self image)
(Vealey and Chase, 2008). A study investigating the effect of a decrease in confidence on the
performance in a well learned task, (Woodman, Akehurst, Hardy and Beattie, 2010) in this case
they used skipping, concluded that to an extent a lack in self confidence or

Essay on Compare and contrast †Disgrace’ with Jude the...
J.M Coetzee s Disgrace literates Lurie s attempt and failure of the seduction of a school girl,
Melanie. This is a campus novel about the first flirtation between a university lecturer and a student.
The aptly named novel suggests the possible overall outcome of having a relationship with a
student.
Disgrace is written from a third person in favour of the protagonist, David Lurie s point of view.
Lurie is someone who has achieved what he wanted to in life, academically but perhaps not
romantically? Whereas, Melonie Issacs, his student has yet to fully experience university life to it s
full and to achieve her academic goals. This novel is written in present tense which gives a sense of
ominicity. (I really want this to be a word, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly to Disgrace , Jude is a novel about a first flirtation. Jude is a young scholar, (like
Melonie) who is determined to do well in his studies who has been disturbed from his ambitions
by the country girls. These women s crude sexuality is threatening Jude s scholarship and
ambitions. Arabella is very similar to the character of Moire in Brian Friel s Translations as they
are both animalistic down to earth women. In contrast to Disgrace , Jude has an omniscient
narrator, giving us in site into all of the characters lives. This guides the reader to feel sympathetic
towards Jude as the women are preying on him, also contrasting to Disgrace as in that extract, the
male is the perpetrator and the woman is prey. Jude doubts Arabella, but is however, curious of her.
She holds him back from his ambition and deviates him from the straight and narrow , his
relationship with Arabella progresses beyond this extract, but undoubtedly ends in heartbreak and
unhappiness. This is also illuistrated by the initial throwing of the penis, the complete disreguard of
the male sexual organ which has been thrown in his face causing a mockery.
Lurie in Disgrace uses poetic language forms and phrases with his attempt to lure Melanie into his
seduction; he is fixated on her physical attributes stating that a woman s beauty does not belong to
her alone . This could be considered as an attempt to

Similarities And Differences Between Lord Of The Flies And...
Though 1954 s Lord of The Flies and 1956 s The Bad Seed seem like separate entities with their
own differing interpretations of morals and ethics, upon closer analysis they may be more related
than we realized. So the question begs to be asked: Just how similar are they? Do their differences
make them separate or do the differences inadvertently drive the two together? First off, they both
concentrate on vulgarity in humans, whether carried out by genetics and human character like the
murderous Shirley Temple of sorts, Rhoda Penmark, in The Bad Seed, or the environment in which
the individual inhabits like the British schoolboys struggling to coexist after their plane crashed
on a remote island in Lord of the Flies. Additionally, they both were published in the same time
frame, only two years apart. So it can be assumed that popular culture and the complications of
that exact generation could be present in both such as the Cold War or the Postwar Boom which
distinctly demonstrated the true brutality that prevails in mankind. However, the setting,
characters, and basic plot are altogether different both in literal structure and in a philosophical
and domestic quality, one grappling with a conflict of endurance and its close ties with savagery,
while the other focuses on a murder mystery type conflict with a sickening twist and subtle film
noir tropes. So obviously these two works of art can be seen as analogous. But how far do the
connections go? The Bad Seed, the

according to an adaptive algorithm. However, standard LMS algorithm tends to cause instability
issue [13], since the error signal is not properly aligned in time in time with the reference signal
due to the presence of the secondary path transfer function S(z). To solve the problem, it is
necessary to find a different LMS filter or a different ANC system. There are several ANC filter
algorithms and systems can be chosen as the solution. 1.recursive filtered least mean square

Ways Hartley and Frayn present Childhood in The...
In the Go Between, Hartley presents the world of children and childhood through the first
person narrative (from the viewpoints of the young and old Leo), Leo s vivid imagination, the
themes of growing up and self awareness, the conflict between the child and adult world, and the
portrayal of Leo as a school boy. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first
person narrative which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards
the dawning of a new era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true
(Chapter 1. p. 28). Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet

p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively
emphasizes the naГЇve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding
and suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way
(Chapter 1. p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting
perceptions of childhood and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he
went away...the relationship between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas
the elder Leo is able to analyse his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was
shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past
tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a
philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naГЇve attitude is portrayed in his black and white
perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame for the blossoming of the lovers
affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader feels a certain degree of
sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like sense of misguided
responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship between Ted and
Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees

Argumentative Speech About Fraternities
What comes into your mind when you hear the word fraternity ? If you will be given the chance to
join such would you choose to pledge? or not not to pledge? Why yes and why not? Apparently,
everyone have their own perspective when it comes to fraternities. However, originally, fraternities
or fraternal organizations were meant to be an organized society of men associated together in an
environment of companionship and brotherhood. They must be dedicated to the intellectual,
physical, moral, religious, and social development of its members. There are many attributes that
fraternities may or may not have, depending on their structure and purpose. Fraternities can have

But sometimes, the real essence of having fraternities is being repudiated because of some immoral
acts done within the organization. In the Philippines, the existence of fraternities are not
prohibited. In fact, some are existing as legal organizations carrying the purpose of being an asset
within the community. But in a setting like this in our country where powerful people abuses those
who are not in position to make their stands, where the real meaning of brotherhood is disregarded,
I believe that this is not an appropriate country to dwell with fraternities. The government should
abolish fraternities for they take away the significance of education and morality in the Philippines.
It is argued that the establishments of fraternities bring a very good sense of brotherhood and
companionship that leads to a well organized community. Fraternities started existing wayback
because of the strong desire of people in the Middles Ages to show companionship. Undeniably,
they are really intended for good purposes and until now the arguments between the pros and cons
of such organizations exist. First are for those

Pre and Post Reconstruction Period Politics, Economic and Social Effects
This research paper is intended to explain in general terms some of the political, economics and
social effects America dealt with during the Pre and Post Reconstruction Period.
During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of
former slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts
of the nation and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some
resolutions. Some issues raised were: a) How would the former states of the Confederacy be

These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few
reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In
addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window
dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through
moderation on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were
intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to
the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence
on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew
Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into
a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts
of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation
methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and
swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension
of cotton plantations into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence
farmers. Furthermore, new technology and the increasing efficiency

The Mexican Peso Crisis Essay
The Mexican Peso Crisis
This paper argues that the Mexican peso crisis of December 20 should have been expected and
foreseeable. In the year preceding the crisis, there were several indicators suggesting that the
Mexican economy and peso were already under extreme pressure. The economy bubble was
ballooning to burst so much so that it was simply a crisis waiting to happen.
Evidences Signaling the Crisis
1. Decreasing Current Account Deficit versus Increasing Capital Account Balance
Mexico was running an increasing current account deficit from US$7.5 billion in 1990 to US$23.4
billion in 1993. This indicates an excess of private investing over private savings. However, the
country was able to maintain an improving fiscal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colosio.
To counter the impact of federal fund rate increase on peso, Mexican government raised the
domestic interest rate by selling more short term government bonds. The interest rate for peso
denominated cetes rose to 15.79% in April 1994 and increased to 17.07% in July 1994.
However, in the second half of 1994, the Mexican government started to reduce the interest rate,
contrary to the federal fund rate. Also, more of dollar denominated tesobonos were issued
aggressively instead of peso denominated cetes. This was likely due to investors being more
willing to hold tesobonos as they will be covered against the risks of devaluation and also lower
interest rate for tesobonos than cetes. This was an indication that there was a loss in confidence
for peso (i.e. people expected that the peso will devaluate to a point that even the differential in
interest will not be able to cover and so were unwilling to hold on to peso denominated bonds). 4.
Declining Real GDP Growth
The Mexico?s inflation rate was really not in control as promised by the Mexican government.
The Consumer Price Index was on the rise and real GDP growth has declined from 4.5% in 1990
to 0.6% in 1993. This shows that Mexico will experience more rapid inflation than United States
in the coming year. This also means that Mexico peso will lose more value than US dollar during
the year ahead. Hence, there will be an

Phil Ochs Song Power And The Glory
Timeless Protest One true test of a classic song is that it stands the test of time. Does the theme
of the song resonate to the modern audience? Do the lyrics engage and motivate the listener to
action? Or is the song just a historic footnote from an era long ago? While times may change and
people evolve, there are certain basic human elements and emotions that will always remain the
same. Major themes such as true love, death, or justice speak to the audience as much as today
as they did hundreds of years ago. For example, in Phil Ochs song Power and the Glory, he has
created a clear example of a classic song with a central theme that is as important today as when it

The use of a parallel structure accomplishes several goals within the song. First, it helps to create
a rhythm in the song and move it along. More importantly, it enables Ochs to emphasize and
highlight specific information. For example, the first verse of the song uses the phrase walk
through over and over. He sings Walk through the meadows and the mountains and the sand.
Walk through the valleys and the rivers and the plains. Walk through the sun and walk through
the rain. The repetition of this phrase followed by images of the natural beauty of America
emphasizes the greatness of the nation. Later in the song the phrase only as is repeated in very
much the same way. Ochs sings that America is only as rich as the poorest of the poor. Only as
free as the padlocked prison door. Only as strong as our love for this land. Only as tall as we
stand. Here he again uses parallel structure to present a very important message to the audience.
However this time it is a challenge central to the song. Ochs tells the listener that all of the
natural beauty in America is worthless if others are needlessly imprisoned or impoverished. He
tells the audience that unless they work to make all men free, no one is really free. In his song
Ochs uses parallelism to create a song that is pleasing to hear, but most importantly he uses it to
drive home a powerfully persuasive point about equality in

Tony Montana Quotes
B.Scarface
Tony Montana is a very vulgar person, able to drop any manner of language that can offend a
person. Arrogant, violent and very frank, assuring to Sosa that the only thing he has in this
world is his word and his balls . Tony is the survivor that has no qualms on killing other people if
it can guarantee money and food. His ruthlessness will eventually land him a position in Frank
Lopez s drug cartel and will steadily make a name in the Miami underworld. He also developed a
liking to Frank s mistress, Elvira. With his excessive push to expand, he eventually gunned down
Frank and took Elvira, and started building his own empire. Living in a lavish lifestyle, he would

She is addicted to coke and would happily tag along with anybody with the money to support her
needs. She was Frank s mistress only for the drugs, and the same for Tony. She is a very snob
character, and seems to embody the ice queen trope, though defrosting her will not do anything,
she is just cold to strangers. It is not known if she has any inner desire to make peace with her
habits, as she evidently sad at the life she is leading.
C.Comparison
The film has a notable distinction in its characters. The Godfather has the honor of having a more
refined set of characters in regards of execution and the distribution of traits, in comparison.
Scarface has characters that are spread thin, with the few having the most concentration of traits.
Tony, Manny, Gina, Elvira and Sosa are the only notable characters that have concentrated traits.
Michael and Tony s personalities are polar opposites. Michael is a law abiding citizen, aspiring
to live a normal life with his girlfriend, Kay. He was only dragged into family affairs after the
attempted hit on his father, Vito. He still strives to be normal even when he is now a criminal
yet the sequels suggest he failed. Tony is readily a criminal, since his background is easily
identified. He was keen on living the American Dream in any way possible. He dealt with drugs,
killed people and started to use his own products. A wise criminal once said that it was bad to use

Foxconn In China Case Study
China s success in consumer electronic manufacturing can be traced to the creation of special
economic zones in the early 1980s, intended to increase foreign capital and boost exports as the
means to integrate regional and global economies (Chan and Seldon 2013, 103). This capitalism
was a sharp departure from the previous Communist based economic policies that dominated the
country for decades (Ya and O Donnell 2017). The Shenzhen Special Economic Zone(one of four)
was established in May 1980 adjacent to the border with Hong Kong, which was experiencing its
own economic boom (Ngai and Chan 2012, Ya and O Donnell 2017). Manufacturing in the

Grain dependent Henan Providence, which has the largest population of any providence, is

capitalism and economic prosperity in a region of China otherwise extremely poor (Barboza 2016).
Zhengzhou is inseparably linked with the Chinese government; the Foxconn factory there provides
a case study of exclusive economic incentives provided by the government to the company. Based
on documents obtained by the New York Times, these benefits are unlike anything else in the
world. For instance, the Zhengzhou government spent $1 billion dollars on housing for iPhone
City s six million people, most of them Foxconn workers. The $600 million factory itself was
largely financed by the government, and taxes were eliminated for Foxconn for five years. To
facilitate rapid exportation of electronics, customs is located directly outside the factory s perimeter.
An airport is nearby, in which the Zhengzhou government will be pumping $10 billion into. To staff
this 2.2 mile factory site, the government assists in recruiting workers and providing formal
training. Ultimately, state recruited workers in state subsidized housing not only benefits

Abstract Cloud gaming is a promising solution for players to have high quality gaming experience
using low end devices. Back in the year 2000, it is still a concept introduced by the industry.
Thanks to the recent research progress in cloud related technology, this idea is turning into reality.
Cloud gaming uses the latest cloud based video streaming and server technology to enable
everything you could have on high end ones to run on almost any device.
In this survey, we will have a look at basic structure of cloud gaming, technology used for video
streaming and some real world examples.
Index Terms Cloud Gaming, OnLive, Gaikai, Nvidia.
I. INTRODUCTION
Streaming video and music to TVs, PCs and tablets using cloud services like Netflix, You tube,
Pandora and Spotify has become a popular way to enjoy life. It is almost impossible to refuse the
convenience of cloud managed libraries of content with streaming anywhere capability. Also video
game market has always been a important part for entertainment industries. For example, the
global video game market is expected to grow from 66 billion US dollars in 2010 to
81 billion in 2016. Cloud gaming, renders the gaming application in the cloud remotely and stream
the encoded game scenes to the client over the Internet. The input signals from our controllers are
transmitted back to the cloud server.
The idea of cloud gaming is inspiring for some reasons. 1) The system

Alternative to Incarceration Essay
December 5, 2001
Alternatives to incarceration
Ever since the first prison opened in the United States in 1790, incarceration has been the center of
the nation s criminal justice system. Over this 200 year period many creative alternatives to
incarceration have been tried, and many at a much lower cost than imprisonment. It wasn t until the
late 1980 s when our criminal justice systems across the country began experiencing a problem
with overcrowding of facilities. This problem forced lawmakers to develop new options for
sentencing criminal offenders. Unlike jail or prisons, which create an expensive cycle of violence
and crime, these alternatives actually prevent violence and strengthen communities.

Another commonly used alternative is house arrest and confinement. This sanction restricts an
individual to his or her residence for specific periods of time; in most house arrest programs
offenders are allowed to leave their homes only for employment, medical needs, or mandated
assignments such as community service or school. The emphasis of this program is on
confinement, and the supervising officers role is to ensure that the offender stays confined at
home. There are three different levels of home confinement, each with a different degree of
restricted freedom. The first is curfew which requires offenders to be in their residence during
limited, specific hours, generally at night. The offender s movements outside of the curfew hours
are unregulated. The second is home detention that requires offenders to remain at home at all times
except for employment, education, treatment, or other pre approved activities. This program may
be with the assisted with electronic monitoring. The last level is home incarceration. This program
requires offenders to remain at home at all times, with very limited exceptions for religious or
medical purposes. At a minimum, offenders are subject to random contacts across all hours covered
by the condition in order to verify compliance.
Electronic monitoring is another widely used form of surveillance in which an electronic device is
attached to an offender s body, warning that person that

Women In Naval Special Warfare
The first woman was introduced to the active service in the United State military in 1917, with
Loretta Walsh enlisting in the Navy to serve as a Yeoman in World War I. A woman could not
serve in a combative capacity until 23 January, 2013 when then Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta
lifted the military s ban on women serving in such roles. Recently Naval Special Warfare has
become the latest elite force within the militaryto open its doors to the potential for women
operators. This of course raises a list of concerns, the most prominent of which is whether or not a
female is capable of meeting the physical standards which Naval Special Warfare has adamantly
stated will not be altered for members of either sex. This potential for a lack... Show more content

Which begs the question is it tactically feasible, or a responsible use of resources to incorporate
women into the SEALs. Attrition is an unavoidable part of military, the toll war fighting takes
on one s body leads to a high turnover rate through retirement, and the death of a teammate is an
ever lurking possibility. Unless there is a drastic rethinking of sleeping, hygiene and other
general living arrangements and the political correctness of opposite gender cohabitation while
forward deployed or in the field, if a sailor is killed and the next man up happens to actually be a
woman, their ability to replace a critical team member could be suspect. Even if a woman s
placement within a team is planned before they begin a mission or deployment, the question
must be asked if it is financially responsible to provide the female specific facilities required to
deploy such a mixed sex team. As afore mentioned, there will likely be relatively few women who
successfully become special warfare operators and the cost of facilitating their deployment in
contrast to their numbers would logically be thought of as inefficient. From a numerical standpoint,
Naval Special Warfare s closest operational partner Naval Special Operations (EOD) which has
allowed women since its inception is currently

The Concept of Homeostasis Particularly in Relation to...
The Concept of Homeostasis Particularly in Relation to Temperature Control In complex organisms
organs are united to form organ systems such as the digestive, reproductive, nervous and muscular
systems. The fact that all of the organ systems generally work in a highly coordinated manner
suggests strongly that organisms possess distinct physiological control mechanisms that make the
coordination of such highly complex processes possible. One of the most interesting features of
such control mechanisms is that they are built into the system to regulate it. The controls are self
adjusting and do not require constant monitoring from an outside agent. Such controls maintain the
system in equilibrium.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Factors that must be kept constant include chemical constituents, osmotic pressure, carbon dioxide
and temperature, the latter being the main feature of this discussion. Many physiological processes
are homeostatic in that they are directly or indirectly responsible for regulating the internal
environment All animals produce body heat as the result of metabolic processes. Even in the most
efficient animal most of the energy released is lost for useful work. Some animals are able to use
this waste heat, to rise above the restrictions of the environmental temperature variation and remain
active all year round. There are two types of animal categories, homeotherms and poikilotherms.
More useful and well known terms are ectothermic and endothermic respectfully. Endotherms are
warm blooded animals, which are mammals and birds. Their body temperature is individual to the
environmental temperature; this is regulated by physiological and behavioral means. An advantage
of being endothermic is considerable, by maintaining a steady body temperature they are free to
exploit a wider range of environmental habitats. The temperature of all warm blooded animals is not

The Problem Of Internet Security
I could now confidently say that the addition of this course Business Computing Environment and
Networks to the curriculum has tremendously helped me gain more knowledge about the basics of
the Networks, how it is being managed, its security, and also how to be more aware of the
problems that are being caused nowadays due to the lack of Internetsecurity. As a part of the
learning and to my best understanding from this course, I would like to delve more into the most
common internet security problems and how do we solve the business problems through the
Internet Security.
As we all know, the word internet itself is a very broad term and the security of the Internet would
be the first thing that each and every company has on its mind in order to solve numerous business
problems they come across every day and to successfully run their businesses.
As everyone is quite aware of the fact that the Internet itself has never been a secured environment,
so every company strives itself hard to take utmost precautions in order to protect their computers
or their computer networks which are being connected to the internet globally. One of the major
problems that most businesses face these days are more often related to their business security. We
all pretty much encounter the problem of our systems being attacked by viruses. Viruses are

Buying A New Home Market
The choice to purchase a new home in today s market is very challenging to make after
considering the disadvantages and the advantages. The current real estate market decides that
today is the excellent time to buy a house as prices and the interest rate are still low. Sadly, many
economic signals reveal that the real estate market may not have reached the bottom yet and more
losses might be in store for the near future. The choice to buy real estate should be meticulously
considered and massively dependent upon the actions of the local real estate market neighboring
today s buyers and sellers. A lot of the main principles of economicssuch as trade offs; incentives

In this position, buyers have a provisional advantage over sellers because buyers can demand
incentives from sellers to close the transaction or find another agreeable seller. The opportunity
cost, or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is
typically basic because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The
opportunity cost for sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with
buyers who do not intend to buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as
important to buyers in this type of market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can
easily become desperate to sell a home quickly in a buyer s market; buyers can easily take
advantage of a seller in trouble. In a seller s market, buyers stand to lose haggling power such as
seller improvements that could help buyers with closing costs because the number of homes
available for purchase isn t as many; buyers will have limited choices of homes for sale. In this
position, sellers have a provisional advantage over buyers because sellers can demand full price,
cash only, and zero incentive to close the transaction. The opportunity cost is typically essential for
sellers in this market because they can simply wait for the right buyer to bid on convenient homes

Price is one of the various determining factors of consumer demand. In an oligopoly the market
leaders can adjust these factors as needed to ensure their dominance in the industry. With only three
market leaders in the baby food industry, merging two of those leaders into one company would
lead to two companies driving the factors that influence demand.
ECONOMIC FACTORS
Customer preferences Consumers have grown more health conscious and knowledgeable about
the ingredients that go into their food. They are particularly concerned about the food they feed

over 30,000 individuals online suggests consumer mindset about healthy foods has shifted and
they are willing to pay more for items perceived as healthy (Gagliardi, 2015). While Gerber, Beech

foods, this trend has also provided an opportunity for smaller brands to enter the market. Brands

Civil Liberties And Civil Rights
Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling
Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred
without a clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate
collective action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing
freedoms to act; their shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination,
nationalization, and rights of the accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had
limited the government s actions by providing freedoms from the government. Because the
government could not take away the people s rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which
limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction (Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a
restriction against what Congress could do, was, and is, the establishment clause, or the separation
between Church and State. As the first component of the First Amendment, the establishment
clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a national Church; consequently, due to
religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the establishment clause serves to protect the
citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting the accommodation of all religions
through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no favoritism . Therefore, the

The Watts Music Festival
In a world of political discourse with racism and hate running rampant, a few great men and women
came together to bring unity and harmony like never before: in the form of massive music festivals.
In the late 1972, the black community came together for a concert known as Watts Summer
Festival. In 1969, the largest musicfestival of its time was held, and was known as Woodstock.
Later that year, the Rolling Stones put together a massive free concert in San Francisco known as
the Altamont Concert. All of the concerts and music festivals were not aimed at making money or
becoming famous, but about the unity of people through the art of music. On August 20, 1972, the
Watts music festival was held in Los Angelas. This was a festival put together by the Stax
recording company in order to honor the men, women, and children who were devastated in the
riots in Watts, a primarily African Americancommunity. Performers in this eight hour festival

Unwind was a book filled with sass, adventure, and daring escapes. I give it a four point five

was great without being too annoying. But the ending, I feel, was a flop. It was building up to
this huge climax and it just didn t feel that exciting when it happened. Other than the ending
being a flop this was a great book and I feel that more people should read Neil Shusterman s

Harrison Ford is a great actor and he s old enough to fit the bill for the Admiral. Harrison Ford is a
grumpy little cinnamon roll in real life so I think he would do good depicting a fictional grumpy
cinnamon roll. The Admiral s third rule is that, my way is the only way (Shusterman 197), and
Harrison Ford s characters all have that sort of vibe and he plays that role quite well. The
Admiral fought in the civil war and has seen the horrors of battle, in this line it says I fought in
the Heartland War. The scars you so impertinently assumed were transplant scars came from a
grenade (Shusterman 222). The Heartland War took place many years before the events in the
book take place and Harrison Ford is around the age of seventy two, so it seems like they d be
around the same age.
I also really like Logan Lerman as Connor. Even though they screwed up the Percy Jackson
movies, I still really liked Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson and Connor reminded me of Percy
Jackson in mannerism and in looks. When Connor just randomly says nice socks (Shusterman
101), it reminds me of something Percy would have done. For me, Percy will forever be Logan
Lerman so Connor just ended up looking like Logan Lerman. Connor is described as having
brown eyes on the first page and Logan Lerman has blue eyes but I think that s a miniscule detail.

In a nutshell, it is because the economic benefits are grossly overstated and are outweighed by the
wide ranging environmental, public health and weapons proliferation problems and risks. Uranium
accounted for 0.19 per cent of Australia s export revenue in 2011/12 (the last available figures)1. By
the most generous estimate, uranium accounts for 0.015% of all jobs in Australia.2 For
Queensland, there is the additional limitation that the state has around just 2% of Australia s
uranium resources. Clearly, the industry has no capacity to deliver significant economic or
employment benefits. Instead of acknowledging the extremely limited economic potential of
uranium mining in Queensland, the LNP state government, the Australian Uranium Association and
the Queensland Resources Council have continued a pattern of extravagant and unsubstantiated
claims regarding jobs, revenue and royalties. Enthusiasm is no substitute for evidence and limited
sectoral self interest is not the same as the public interest. The assumptions and analysis of those

Stanford permanently in 1925, without a degree, in order to pursue his writing career in New
York. He failed at getting any of his writing published and then returned back to California, as a
resort handyman in Lake Tahoe. His first novel, Cup of Gold, about the pirate Henry Morgan
who had captured Steinbeck s imagination as a child, was finally published in 1929, but
received little attention. His two following novels, The Pastures of Heaven and To a God
Unknown, were also somewhat unnoticed by the literary world. In 1930 Steinbeck married his
first wife Carol Henning. They both lived in Pacific Grove where a large amount of the material
was influenced for Tortilla Flat and Cannery Row. Tortilla Flat, published in 1935 marked the
turning point in Steinbeck s career. For Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck received the California
Commonwealth Club s Gold Medal

The Founding Foundations Of The Social Cognitive Theory
THE SOCIAL COGNITIVE THEORY
This is a theory that was developed by Albert Bandura. Below are a few of the definitions as to
what the theory s main focus was on or what really the theory is all about.
Social cognitive theory favours a model of causation involving triadic
Reciprocal determinism. In this model of reciprocal causation, behaviour, cognition and other
Personal factors, and environmental influences all operate as interacting determinants that
Influence each other bidirectional , (Bandura, Social Cognitive theory, 1989). Social cognitive
theory provides an argentic conceptual framework within which to analyse the determinants and
psychosocial mechanisms through which symbolic communication influences human thought,
affect and action , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is so because a person s behaviour may remain the same even if the environment changes.
The theory is loosely structured, based only on the dynamic chemistry between person, behaviour,
and environment. It is unclear the level to which each of these factors actual behaviour and if one
is more influential than another.
The theory deeply centres on processes of learning and in doing so neglects biological and
hormonal predispositions that may influence behaviours, regardless of past experience and
expectations.
The theory does not focus on emotion or motivation, but instead on reference to past experience.
There is minimal attention on these factors.
The theory can be broad reaching, so can be difficult to operationalize in

Foucault once stated, “Our society is one not of...
Foucault once stated, Our society is one not of spectacle, but of surveillance; under the surface of
images, one invests (301). By this, he means that our society is full of constant supervision that is
not easily seen nor displayed. In his essay, Panopticism, Foucault goes into detail about the different
disciplinary societies and how surveillancehas become a big part of our lives today. He explains
how the disciplinary mechanisms have dramatically changed in comparison to the middle ages.
Foucault analyzes in particular the Panopticon, which was a blueprint of a disciplinary institution.
The idea of this institution was for inmates to be seen but not to see. As Foucault put it, he is the
object of information, never a subject in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foucault began to compare this new idea of surveillance, power and punishment of the Panopticon
to the power during the Middle Ages by the King which was more public in contrast to the
Panopticon. The Panopticon was more discrete. It was not a show or form of entertainment when
someone was punished unlike when someone is punished with the King. By exploring this,
Foucault demonstrated how surveillance has changed overtime.
Foucault s primary example of a disciplinary institution was the Panopticon planned by J.
Bentham. It was what seemed to be precise in the aspects of control, power, discipline, and
isolation. It was for all types of people such as a schoolboy, worker, sickly patient or a madman.
It was created to stop all foolishness. Inmates needed to be watched constantly to make sure that
everything and everyone were in order; therefore there was special architecture produced in order
to accomplish that task. The Panopticon was designed to be a circular building with a tower in
the very center. The tower had big windows in order for the guard to be able to see everything that
the inmates were doing. The cells were similar to a dungeon. They were very small and isolated.
There was no communication between each other nor could the inmates see or communicate with
the guard. As Foucault asserted, Bentham laid down the principle that power should be visible and

The condition that exists when people have developed effective ways of organizing a society and
care about art, science, etc. This is the definition of civilization. So when I explain the different
characteristics of the western civilizations, which is mainly made up of all the countries in the
world that have roots that go way back to ancient Greece. Although western societies have a lot of
similarities as todays and other civilizations, it s still tend to be known to as pretty rare, mainly in
the way western think and believe. Western people thinking investigates something that is thought

Personally the biggest characteristic that separated western civilization from others is Christianity.
They were influenced into this by the Hebrews and took it beyond being monotheistic which
already was out of the norm. It affected their law, art, music, and most importantly their society,
Judeo Christian , which is simply the belief of two different religions together in this case it would
be Judi and Christian. The source document for Judeo Christian better known as the bible impacted
their thinking drastically. Western people truly thought they had a bond with God. This affected
their everyday attitude, they avided by the saying cope instead of hope and they all truly believed
in it. Overall, the Hebrews impacted the western people in a major way. Another contribution the
Hebrews brought that gave them a unique characteristic was the importance of individualism,
meaning that they would live as a democracy and have big beliefs in freedom and individuality
which is the way there civilization thinks. Talking about the differences between eastern and

The development of my English skill
In the previous, I had ever ignored an English subject. At that time, I just think that if I didn t go

There are many global issues that plague our earth, even now in the 21st century. One of these
issues is female circumcision. Female circumcision, or Female Genital Mutilation, is the partial or
full removal of the external female genitalia for nonmedical reason. It is an inhumane practice that
effects an estimated 200 million women around the world (Global Issues in Context). It is unclear

Why Don t We Complain Essay
Argumentative Essay: Why Don t We Complain? Throughout once in your life, you may have been
confronted with a situation where you accept inconveniences instead of taking action. According to
William F. Buckley, American people everywhere have refrained from trying to rectify irrational
vexations . In Buckley s essay, Why Don t We Complain? he explains some situations that he was
involved in where no one would complain to repair an uncomfortable situation. Throughout the
essay, Buckley uses his experiences and strong reasoning to show why he believes that the
American people do not complain. Buckley attempts to support that the apathy that Americans
would accept inconveniences instead of taking action is the cause of many Americans ... Show more

Should people be afraid to complain or should they always be free minded about an unjust cause?
The second reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas about assertiveness and helplessness is
because throughout time many inventions are that replace simple jobs that cause a sense of
laziness. The people will often portray themselves as lazy in society as new technological
inventions are created to do their tasks. Many people will then develop a habit due to them
relying on other things to do their task for them. For example, back then when machines weren t
created, people did manual labor and relied on themselves, but now as we rely on newly made
machines; we rely on the equipment to do our work. This forms a habit for Americans as we
begin to rely on other things than ourselves. The third reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas
about assertiveness and helplessness is shown through as Buckley states that the government is
taking rights away from the people. He states, Every year, whether the Republican or the
Democratic Party is in office, more and more power drains away from the individual to feed vast
reservoirs in far off places; and we have less and less say about the shape of events which shape our
future . He also says that we accept the government s power to hold upon us . The government is
responsible for the great number of American deaths in Korea and is now responsible for billions
of tax dollars spent every year. However,

China Labor Watch ( Clw )
CHINA LABOR WATCH Founded by labor activist Li Qiang in 2000, China Labor Watch (CLW)
is a powerful and independent non profit organization dedicated to protecting the workers rights in
China. With the support of the media and the labor organizations, CLW conducts deep
investigations and publishes the reports about the sub standard working conditions and wages in
factories in China. The reports not only create awareness among the world community, but also put
pressure on the corporations to improve conditions for workers.
Apple s Supplier Foxconn, came under intense scrutiny for its suspicious labor practices and
suicide by its fourteen young workers at the Foxconn Shenzhen factory in 2010, followed by the
explosion in Chengdu factory resulting in 3 deaths and sixteen injuries in 2011. In 2010 CLW
also reported about several violations of China labor laws based investigation collected through
off site interviews and from its own staff who had purposefully worked in Foxconn factories as
workers to gain real and accurate information. These reports puts a big question mark on the
supplier responsibility reports and standards set by Apple.
According to CLW, Apple is equally responsible for the China labor law violations and worker
suicides as its goal of profit maximization comes at the cost of brutal working conditions at foxconn
factories. This is because the quality and price of production material used in manufacturing is pre
determined according to the Apple

What Are The Social Attitudes In The Perks Of Being A...
Stephen Chbosky s The Perks of Being a Wallflower shows some very progressive views relating
to our current social attitudes. Knowing that he is an advocate for LGBT rights, I can
understand why he is writing about the events that he does. He can use the element of time to
his advantage as well by showing the exact time because each letter in the book starts with a
date. Readers are able to gather precisely what part of his life we are experiencing in the story.
The author also grows antagonists that aren t necessarily palpable, as I believe it is either Charlie s
own subconscious or the mostly ignorant society he lives in. Stephen Chboskyis an avid supporter
of LGBTpeople s rights and respect. You can see his own opinions on matters like this one in his
book. Charlie s best friend, Patrick, is gay and in his school, especially by the football players,
that is not socially acceptable. When Charlie walks in on Patrick and Brad, a member of the
football team, making out in a closet at a party the problem starts to get addressed in the novel.
We learn that Brad wants to hide his relationship with Patrick because he is worried about what
other people will think. He knows that if the football team found out, he would be persecuted by
his peers. Chbosky makes it clear what side of the issue he stands on with his... Show more content

I think Charlie s villain is his own subconscious. He has trouble throughout the story with letting
himself out and participating in the things around him. Charlie also hides things from himself; he
was able to block out an extremely traumatic event in his childhood. Coming to terms with it was
truly hard, but in the end he finally is able to face it and realize what actually happened. Society is
another villain. We see so many relatable issues formed by society that affect our characters in the
novel. They have to overcome those obstacles and be who they truly

Comparing My Fair Lady And Miss Congeniality
In the world, there seems to be two levels of conflict. One conflict involves having a common
war shared among multiple individuals, and the other incorporates more personal issues. For
instance, many women across the globe feel inferior to men; however, some feel apt to change
the way things are or how they adapt to the situation. Some women are satisfied with how their
lives are, but there are some that will go the extra mile to see some fresh, new adjustments. In
My Fair Lady and Miss Congeniality, there seems to be evidence of intertextual elements
intertwined within both films through the aspects of character motives, conflicts, and setting.
The characters of both films are revealed by their words and actions. The characters Eliza
Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins from My Fair Lady seem to have obvious comparisons to
Gracie Hart and Victor Melling from Miss Congeniality. When looking at Eliza and Gracie, not
only do they display the protagonist archetype, but they also show how someone not so ladylike
can be transformed into one of nature s most beautiful creatures a lady. However, becoming a lady
was a long, winding road with many bumps in the way, yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

South China Sea Between The People s Republic Of China Essay
INTRODUCTION
The ongoing dispute in the South China Sea between the People s Republic of China (PRC), and
the various littoral states (Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, and the Philippines) has been a topic of
intense debate and observation in the international community. While each of the littoral states
attempts to enforce and control the 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) allotted to
them by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the PRC is claiming
much of the South China Sea for itself roughly 90 percent on the basis of a Kuomintang map from
1947 (Fensom, 2016). This nine dash line extends well beyond the 200 nm limit and into the EEZ
s of the respective littoral states. These claims include the Paracel Islands, which the PRC clashed
with Vietnam over in the 1970s; Scarborough Shoal, a coral atoll and lagoon west of the
Philippines; and the Spratly Islands, a large collection of small, uninhabited islands, reefs, and
sandbars on the southern edge of the South China Sea. Additionally, the PRC claims EEZs on its
occupied features, despite the Permanent Court of Arbitration s (PCA) ruling that all the Spratly
Island features are rocks and therefore are not entitled to EEZs (Permanent Court of Arbitration,
2016). Chinese control of these features would allow them to effectively control the entire South
China Sea. A third of all global maritime trade over 5 trillion dollars annually passes through this
region, along with over 60% of Japan s

Jews During The 19th Century
Jews have a fairly long history in Hungary. It is believed that the first Jews settled in Hungary in
the 2nd century CE (World Jewish Congress). In 1251 there was a Jewish charter that put all the
Jews under royal protection. After this, there was a large number of Jews that moved to Hungary
which led to the development of historical communities. After the annexation of Hungaryby the
Ottoman Turks, Jewslived in peace, as long as they paid taxes. Along with the expulsion of the
Ottoman Turks, the Jews disappeared from Hungary. It was not until the 18th century where

Over 400,000 Jews were moved from their homes to ghettos. In May 1944, deportation began.
Some Jews escaped to Romania, neutral countries, or Budapest. Zionists helped Jews by
providing fake passports, food, clothing, and places to hide. Unfortunately, Budapest did not
always remain a safe haven for Hungarian Jews. The majority of these Jews were sent to ghettos.
By January 1945, nearly 98,000 Jews from Budapest had died on marches to Austria. At the end of
the war, about 565,000 Hungarian Jews perished (Jewish Virtual Library).
Post Holocaust, about 250 Jewish communities were reestablished, mainly in Budapest. The
Hungarian government abolished their anti Jewish legislation. In December 1948, the Jewish
communities were recognized, guaranteed religious freedom, and were promised financial support.
At this time, the Zionist movement started building schools and youth groups. Diplomatic relations
with Israel were established in 1948, which led to a large group of Hungarian Jews immigrating to
Israel.
The rise of the Communist Party led to the closure of many Jewish institutions and the arrest of
Jewish activists. Mass immigration to Israel was not allowed. About 20,000 Jews from Budapest
were forced to leave. The year 1967 marked the end of diplomatic ties to Israel. (Jewish Virtual
Library). In the 1970s, there were only about 60,000 Jews in Hungary, with many of them living in
Budapest. The fall of the communist government ended the

The Theological Ideas Of Pope Francis
As the world modernizes at unprecedented rates and becomes increasingly secular, there is
increasing scrutiny on the Church and her actions. The Church, plagued by sex scandals and
slandered for its rejection of many new ideas, is often dismissed as obsolete and unable to keep
pace. Therefore, it has to adapt its teachings to fit the current global situation while keeping true its
core values. At the forefront of this mission is PopeFrancis who must also guide the Church through
an age where empiricism and relativism is ubiquitous. Furthermore, he is tasked to provide
guidance and insight regarding contemporary global problems, namely, the deteriorating state of the
environment and the adaptation of the Church s teachings. To address the... Show more content on

This idea in turn renders the question of universal truth no longer relevant since religion seems to
lie at the root of fanaticism . The Church attributes the fear of a common truth as the causality of
relativism since humans identify it with the intransigent demands of totalitarian systems.
However, if the truth is a truth of love , then it can be set free from its enclosure in individuals
and become part of the common good argues the Church. In other words, there is only one truth,
a truth of love, which remains true in every case, improves and sustains its adherents, and
precedes all human life. The Church argues in Lumen fidei that rather from us possessing truth, it
is truth which embraces and possesses us. It is a truth to which all life is subservient whether one
acknowledges it or not thus making relativism invalid. With this concept in mind, the encyclical
tackles skepticism caused by empiricism. It argues that although it is impossible to verify if
Christianity has encountered the real Jesus it is not a reason to discredit the Church because it is
not the only way people can attain knowledge . The other way of attaining knowledge is through
others, the encyclical says: Our own knowledge and self awareness are relational; they are linked
to others who have gone before us. Language is perhaps the best example of the

  • 2. Essay on A South Korean Company that Operates in China A South Korean Company that Operates in China This report address s the requirements at hand to select a South Korean company that has operations in China Executive Summary: In 1992, Samsung Electronics adopted the form of a wholly owned subsidiary as the entry mode into China. It s entry into China was in order to maintain growth due to the tough competition in Korea. China was selected in order to take advantage of its low wages for the mass production of low to medium priced products. The initial manufacturing ground was at Tianjin due to its costal location hence making it easy to export abroad and to major locations in China. The original focus of producing low cost products resulted in a cheap image of Samsung in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a decade of rapid economic growth, in 1997 many South East Asian countries were subject to a catastrophic economic crisis. The problems endured involved both immediate crisis management in unstable financial markets and the medium term restructuring and repositioning of their economies in the face of intensified export competition. South Korea had a large current account deficit and the maintenance of pegged exchange rates encouraged external borrowing and led to excessive exposure to foreign exchange risk in both the financial and corporate sectors. Economists have advanced the impact of Mainland China on the real economy as a contributing factor to the crisis. China had begun to compete effectively with other Asian exporters particularly in the 1990s after the implementation of a number of export oriented reforms. Western importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency was depreciated relative to the dollar. The report will address the corporate re alignment by Samsung in order to ride out the economic filtering of the region in which it was operating. [1] Entry Mode and Rationale behind Choice Pre 1997 Asian Economic Crisis: Initially, in 1992 Samsung adopted the strategy of a wholly own subsidiary (WOS) as the mode of entry into China. Samsung opted to expand its production of consumer electronic good in China as a WOS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Deer Antlers Research Paper For many years, people have hunted Cervidae formally known as deer for not only their meat, but for the size of their racks or more known as antlers. Along with deer, moose, caribou, and elks are hunted for their enormous antlers. Although some people mix horns with antlers, they are completely two different structures. Horns are made of keratin and continuously grow while antlers are bony structures that fall off and regrow again. While deershed and regrow antlers, the antlers repair themselves without leaving a mark. Even though antlers portrayed for looks they serve many purposes such as dominance and protection. When male deer are first born they are not born with their antlers. Researcher J. Price says that antlers are cranial appendages that develop after birth and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the development of the antlers they contain mainly water and protein so this depends all on the animals nutrition and body weight (Price 2004). As this process goes on the deer starts to grow hair on top of the antlers which carry the nerves and blood vessels. This specific hair coverage is called velvet. This spongy bone then turns into hard, compacted bones on the outside while the centers become filled with a coarse, lamellar bone and marrow specs (Price 2004). Depending on the season, antlers stop growing near the later part of summer of the early part of fall. Once this occurs, the velvet is then rubbed off by rubbing up against trees called casting. This means that the deer s testosterone level has dropped (Price 2004). This process will reoccur every year throughout the deer s life span. Although it is primarily males that have antlers there is an exception in some species such that females can obtain antlers as well. Such species include reindeer and caribou. Although the females have antler, they are relatively smaller than the males says researcher Eigil Reimers. So why do the female reindeer and caribou have antler? Maybe ... Gary Hamel (2011) spoke on the essence of: the reinvention of management techniques which, challenged managers to rethink how they perform operational functions; in order to, create a solid structure within the current market. For sure, those who are reading this now have been told many times during their childhood days to stand erect and breast out. This is an advice from our parents and our beloved teachers which we have forgotten over time. Although we have thought by our teachers the proper way of correct posture, it seems like it just faded in our lives and just disregarded the idea. May be because we were too young to know it, and we were too young to feel the effects of a bad posture. And now as we grow old, back pains, headaches and all other body pains invade us, something we never expect to happen and something we are not aware of the main cause of pain. bad posture has greatly affect what you experience now, those pains in your back, bad posture may not be the main cause but it is on contributory factor you never expected. • 6. How useful are models of self confidence in developing our... How useful are models of self confidence in deepening our understanding of sporting performance? Confidence has been outlined as an important and essential mental skill in sporting performance by both athletes and coaches according to Vealey and Chase, 2008. There is a general consensus of support by the literature for a positive relationship between confidence and performance (Moritz, Feltz, Fahrbach, Mack, 2000 cited by Machida, Ward and Vealey, 2012). In developing an understanding of these models of confidence and efficacy it has become a primary target to increase the confidence of athletes at specific psychological interventions (Hanton Jones, 1999; Mamassis Doganis, 2004 cited by Machida, Ward and Vealey, 2012). Second, golfers maintained high self efficacy over time by recalling prior success, strategically framing experiences, and enlisting supportive verbal persuasions from themselves and from others. Finally, self efficacy influenced professional golfers thought patterns, outcome expectations, and emotional states. Findings support and refine the theoretical tenets of Bandura s social cognitive theory. (Valiante and Morris, 2013). Sport confidence is defined as the beliefs in individual s capability to be successful in sport (Vealey, 1986). The sport confidence model builds on Bandura s model of self efficacy. Vealey et al, (1998) identified nine sources of sport confidence that are unique to the context of competitive sport. These include mastery (i.e. improving skills in the sporting context), demonstration of ability (i.e. showing off abilities to others or out performing an opponent), physical /mental preparation (i.e. feeling physically and mentally prepared for competition) and physical self presentation (i.e. one s physical self image) (Vealey and Chase, 2008). This is a campus novel about the first flirtation between a university lecturer and a student. The aptly named novel suggests the possible overall outcome of having a relationship with a student. Disgrace is written from a third person in favour of the protagonist, David Lurie s point of view. Lurie is someone who has achieved what he wanted to in life, academically but perhaps not romantically? Whereas, Melonie Issacs, his student has yet to fully experience university life to it s full and to achieve her academic goals. Similarly to Disgrace , Jude is a novel about a first flirtation. Jude is a young scholar, (like Melonie) who is determined to do well in his studies who has been disturbed from his ambitions by the country girls. These women s crude sexuality is threatening Jude s scholarship and ambitions. Arabella is very similar to the character of Moire in Brian Friel s Translations as they are both animalistic down to earth women. In contrast to Disgrace , Jude has an omniscient narrator, giving us in site into all of the characters lives. This guides the reader to feel sympathetic towards Jude as the women are preying on him, also contrasting to Disgrace as in that extract, the male is the perpetrator and the woman is prey. Jude doubts Arabella, but is however, curious of her. She holds him back from his ambition and deviates him from the straight and narrow , his relationship with Arabella progresses beyond this extract, but undoubtedly ends in heartbreak and unhappiness. This is also illuistrated by the initial throwing of the penis, the complete disreguard of the male sexual organ which has been thrown in his face causing a mockery. Lurie in Disgrace uses poetic language forms and phrases with his attempt to lure Melanie into his seduction; he is fixated on her physical attributes stating that a woman s beauty does not belong to her alone . • 8. Similarities And Differences Between Lord Of The Flies And... Though 1954 s Lord of The Flies and 1956 s The Bad Seed seem like separate entities with their own differing interpretations of morals and ethics, upon closer analysis they may be more related than we realized. So the question begs to be asked: Just how similar are they? Do their differences make them separate or do the differences inadvertently drive the two together? First off, they both concentrate on vulgarity in humans, whether carried out by genetics and human character like the murderous Shirley Temple of sorts, Rhoda Penmark, in The Bad Seed, or the environment in which the individual inhabits like the British schoolboys struggling to coexist after their plane crashed on a remote island in Lord of the Flies. Additionally, they both were published in the same time frame, only two years apart. So it can be assumed that popular culture and the complications of that exact generation could be present in both such as the Cold War or the Postwar Boom which distinctly demonstrated the true brutality that prevails in mankind. However, the setting, characters, and basic plot are altogether different both in literal structure and in a philosophical and domestic quality, one grappling with a conflict of endurance and its close ties with savagery, while the other focuses on a murder mystery type conflict with a sickening twist and subtle film noir tropes. So obviously these two works of art can be seen as analogous. But how far do the connections go? The Bad Seed, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively emphasizes the naГЇve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1. p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naГЇve attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees ... If you will be given the chance to join such would you choose to pledge? or not not to pledge? Why yes and why not? Apparently, everyone have their own perspective when it comes to fraternities. However, originally, fraternities or fraternal organizations were meant to be an organized society of men associated together in an environment of companionship and brotherhood. They must be dedicated to the intellectual, physical, moral, religious, and social development of its members. But in a setting like this in our country where powerful people abuses those who are not in position to make their stands, where the real meaning of brotherhood is disregarded, I believe that this is not an appropriate country to dwell with fraternities. The government should abolish fraternities for they take away the significance of education and morality in the Philippines. It is argued that the establishments of fraternities bring a very good sense of brotherhood and companionship that leads to a well organized community. During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of former slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts of the nation and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some resolutions. These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through moderation on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension of cotton plantations into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence farmers. Furthermore, new technology and the increasing efficiency ... In the year preceding the crisis, there were several indicators suggesting that the Mexican economy and peso were already under extreme pressure. The economy bubble was ballooning to burst so much so that it was simply a crisis waiting to happen. Evidences Signaling the Crisis 1. Decreasing Current Account Deficit versus Increasing Capital Account Balance Mexico was running an increasing current account deficit from US$7.5 billion in 1990 to US$23.4 billion in 1993. To counter the impact of federal fund rate increase on peso, Mexican government raised the domestic interest rate by selling more short term government bonds. The interest rate for peso denominated cetes rose to 15.79% in April 1994 and increased to 17.07% in July 1994. However, in the second half of 1994, the Mexican government started to reduce the interest rate, contrary to the federal fund rate. Also, more of dollar denominated tesobonos were issued aggressively instead of peso denominated cetes. This was likely due to investors being more willing to hold tesobonos as they will be covered against the risks of devaluation and also lower interest rate for tesobonos than cetes. This was an indication that there was a loss in confidence for peso (i.e. people expected that the peso will devaluate to a point that even the differential in interest will not be able to cover and so were unwilling to hold on to peso denominated bonds). 4. Declining Real GDP Growth The Mexico?s inflation rate was really not in control as promised by the Mexican government. The Consumer Price Index was on the rise and real GDP growth has declined from 4.5% in 1990 to 0.6% in 1993. The Concept of Homeostasis Particularly in Relation to Temperature Control In complex organisms organs are united to form organ systems such as the digestive, reproductive, nervous and muscular systems. The fact that all of the organ systems generally work in a highly coordinated manner suggests strongly that organisms possess distinct physiological control mechanisms that make the coordination of such highly complex processes possible. One of the most interesting features of such control mechanisms is that they are built into the system to regulate it. The controls are self adjusting and do not require constant monitoring from an outside agent. Such controls maintain the system in equilibrium.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Factors that must be kept constant include chemical constituents, osmotic pressure, carbon dioxide and temperature, the latter being the main feature of this discussion. Many physiological processes are homeostatic in that they are directly or indirectly responsible for regulating the internal environment All animals produce body heat as the result of metabolic processes. Even in the most efficient animal most of the energy released is lost for useful work. Some animals are able to use this waste heat, to rise above the restrictions of the environmental temperature variation and remain active all year round. There are two types of animal categories, homeotherms and poikilotherms. More useful and well known terms are ectothermic and endothermic respectfully. Endotherms are warm blooded animals, which are mammals and birds. Their body temperature is individual to the environmental temperature; this is regulated by physiological and behavioral means. An advantage of being endothermic is considerable, by maintaining a steady body temperature they are free to exploit a wider range of environmental habitats. The Problem Of Internet Security I could now confidently say that the addition of this course Business Computing Environment and Networks to the curriculum has tremendously helped me gain more knowledge about the basics of the Networks, how it is being managed, its security, and also how to be more aware of the problems that are being caused nowadays due to the lack of Internetsecurity. As a part of the learning and to my best understanding from this course, I would like to delve more into the most common internet security problems and how do we solve the business problems through the Internet Security. As we all know, the word internet itself is a very broad term and the security of the Internet would be the first thing that each and every company has on its mind in order to solve numerous business problems they come across every day and to successfully run their businesses. As everyone is quite aware of the fact that the Internet itself has never been a secured environment, so every company strives itself hard to take utmost precautions in order to protect their computers or their computer networks which are being connected to the internet globally. One of the major problems that most businesses face these days are more often related to their business security. We all pretty much encounter the problem of our systems being attacked by viruses. The opportunity cost, or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is typically basic because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The opportunity cost for sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with buyers who do not intend to buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as important to buyers in this type of market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can easily become desperate to sell a home quickly in a buyer s market; buyers can easily take advantage of a seller in trouble. In a seller s market, buyers stand to lose haggling power such as seller improvements that could help buyers with closing costs because the number of homes available for purchase isn t as many; buyers will have limited choices of homes for sale. • 33. Civil Liberties And Civil Rights Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction (Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was, and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. As the first component of the First Amendment, the establishment clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a national Church; consequently, due to religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the establishment clause serves to protect the citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting the accommodation of all religions through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no favoritism . The character development was phenomenal and the main female protagonist was great without being too annoying. But the ending, I feel, was a flop. It was building up to this huge climax and it just didn t feel that exciting when it happened. Other than the ending being a flop this was a great book and I feel that more people should read Neil Shusterman s books because his books are unique from anything else in the YA scene and they will just pull you in from the first sentence. Foucault began to compare this new idea of surveillance, power and punishment of the Panopticon to the power during the Middle Ages by the King which was more public in contrast to the Panopticon. The Panopticon was more discrete. It was not a show or form of entertainment when someone was punished unlike when someone is punished with the King. By exploring this, Foucault demonstrated how surveillance has changed overtime. Foucault s primary example of a disciplinary institution was the Panopticon planned by J. Bentham. It was what seemed to be precise in the aspects of control, power, discipline, and isolation. It was for all types of people such as a schoolboy, worker, sickly patient or a madman. It was created to stop all foolishness. Inmates needed to be watched constantly to make sure that everything and everyone were in order; therefore there was special architecture produced in order to accomplish that task. The Panopticon was designed to be a circular building with a tower in the very center. The tower had big windows in order for the guard to be able to see everything that the inmates were doing. The cells were similar to a dungeon. They were very small and isolated. There was no communication between each other nor could the inmates see or communicate with the guard. Should people be afraid to complain or should they always be free minded about an unjust cause? The second reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas about assertiveness and helplessness is because throughout time many inventions are that replace simple jobs that cause a sense of laziness. The people will often portray themselves as lazy in society as new technological inventions are created to do their tasks. Many people will then develop a habit due to them relying on other things to do their task for them. For example, back then when machines weren t created, people did manual labor and relied on themselves, but now as we rely on newly made machines; we rely on the equipment to do our work. While each of the littoral states attempts to enforce and control the 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) allotted to them by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the PRC is claiming much of the South China Sea for itself roughly 90 percent on the basis of a Kuomintang map from 1947 (Fensom, 2016). These claims include the Paracel Islands, which the PRC clashed with Vietnam over in the 1970s; Scarborough Shoal, a coral atoll and lagoon west of the Philippines; and the Spratly Islands, a large collection of small, uninhabited islands, reefs, and sandbars on the southern edge of the South China Sea. Additionally, the PRC claims EEZs on its occupied features, despite the Permanent Court of Arbitration s (PCA) ruling that all the Spratly Island features are rocks and therefore are not entitled to EEZs (Permanent Court of Arbitration, 2016). Chinese control of these features would allow them to effectively control the entire South China Sea. • 52. The Theological Ideas Of Pope Francis As the world modernizes at unprecedented rates and becomes increasingly secular, there is increasing scrutiny on the Church and her actions. The Church, plagued by sex scandals and slandered for its rejection of many new ideas, is often dismissed as obsolete and unable to keep pace. Therefore, it has to adapt its teachings to fit the current global situation while keeping true its core values. At the forefront of this mission is PopeFrancis who must also guide the Church through an age where empiricism and relativism is ubiquitous. Furthermore, he is tasked to provide guidance and insight regarding contemporary global problems, namely, the deteriorating state of the environment and the adaptation of the Church s teachings. To address the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea in turn renders the question of universal truth no longer relevant since religion seems to lie at the root of fanaticism . The Church attributes the fear of a common truth as the causality of relativism since humans identify it with the intransigent demands of totalitarian systems. However, if the truth is a truth of love , then it can be set free from its enclosure in individuals and become part of the common good argues the Church. In other words, there is only one truth, a truth of love, which remains true in every case, improves and sustains its adherents, and precedes all human life. The Church argues in Lumen fidei that rather from us possessing truth, it is truth which embraces and possesses us. It is a truth to which all life is subservient whether one acknowledges it or not thus making relativism invalid. With this concept in mind, the encyclical tackles skepticism caused by empiricism. It argues that although it is impossible to verify if Christianity has encountered the real Jesus it is not a reason to discredit the Church because it is not the only way people can attain knowledge . The other way of attaining knowledge is through others, the encyclical says: Our own knowledge and self awareness are relational; they are linked to others who have gone before us. Language is perhaps the best example of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
