The Physical Education BA(Hons) with QTS aims to enable students to play a prominent role in developing physical education for children and young people. The 4-year course prepares students to be competent newly qualified teachers with insight into their own professional development. Students take a variety of practical activity modules as well as academic modules in psychology, physiology, and sociology. After graduation, students can pursue careers in teaching, coaching, the leisure industry, and other education-related fields.

Provide a wide range of extra - curricular activities involving representative sport and recreational activity. Liaise with a growing range of partners in the community including:

Course aims To enable students to; To enable students to understand concepts of physical education through a synthesis and application of relevant academic, practical and professional perspectives. To enable students to acquire specialist knowledge, understanding and competence in specific aspects of physical education. To enable students to recognise the distinctive nature of the knowledge and skills applicable to a variety of work based settings demonstrating insight into how to promote their employability.

- Talk through the philosophy underpinning the PE degree.Physical Education sits within the discipline of Social Sciences. It involves the ‘broad’ study of physical education; its nature and values. Yet with opportunities to pursue areas of personal interest in depth.There are three main areas for consideration; people, culture and environment (talk through) – PE is inclusive of age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic background.The study of physical education is underpinned by understanding how learning occurs and is influenced by different factors that determine how individuals engage with their ‘life world’. (Cognitively, Affectively, Socially) and their lived experience of PE.As students of physical education you need to question and be critical of these influences, how they impact upon individuals (and groups) and define our life long relationship with PE, sport, health and fitness.
- You all are passionate about PE and it is our purpose to deliver opportunities to examine PE, to academically challenge you and provide bespoke routes and pathways to support personal interests and vocational ambition.From birth to death, physical education impacts on all ages and stages of life.How do we learn? What physical challenges face an under 5, 14yr old, newly disabled crash victim, pregnant woman, retired arthritic?How do people engage with physical education? During and beyond school age?Learning develops knowledge, skills and understanding of pedagogy, in multiple contexts and focuses on your professional development.This is more than just a degree; you have work based placements and vocational opportunities ahead (organised and voluntary).So where do you see yourself in 5 yrs time?
