2. It is, in English a compound verb formed by the combination of a verb
and a grammatical particle, ie, an adverb or a preposition, or even by a
verb followed by an adverb and a preposition.
The formula is the "verb + preposition“ sometimes the same combination
of verb + preposition has more than one meaning depending on the
context.

3.  Subir o montarse:
This phrase is used to raise or ride some sort of transportation.
Example:
 The bus was full. We couldn’t get on.
El autobús estaba completo, no pudimos subirnos.

4.  Quedarse encerrado, no poder entrar.
This phrase is used when a person can not enter your home, office, car, etc. or he
gets locked in it.
 Example:
I had no key, so i was locked out.
No tenía llaves, así que no pude entrar.

5.  Dejar de funcionar , dejar de operar (romperse)
This phrase is used when a person can not get to a specific site, your car damage
(broke)
 Example:
Sorry I’m late. The car broke down.
Siento llegar tarde. El coche dejó de funcionar (se rompió)

6.  Calmarse o tranquilizarse.
This phrase is used to ask people to eliminate bad behavior like crazy, and
reduce stress.
 Example:
His daugther is very angry because she wanted an ice cream , he should
calm her down.
Su hija está muy enojado porque quería un helado, él debe calmarla.

7.  Comprobar o verificar algo, pagar la cuenta, registrar la salida
(hotel)
This phrase is used when someone is going to leave the room you are
staying or when we will verify a collection account or payment.
 Example:
What time do we have to check out?
¿A qué hora tenemos que dejar la habitación?

8.  Volver a algún lugar.
This phrase is used to say that someone is going or returning from a place.
 Example:
Camilo is leaving tomorrow and coming back on Saturday.
Camilo se va mañana y vuelve el sábado.

9.  Reducir – Cortar
This phrase is used when you want to reduce the amount of something we consume.
Such as sugar, alcohol or jobs.
 Example:
The teacher asked Ross to cut down his essay, it was too long.
El profesor pidió a Ross para reducir su ensayo, que era demasiado largo.

10.  Recoger, levantar, coger.
This phrase is used to join several things, organizing things that are usually on the
floor: clothes, objects, food.
 Example:
He picks up the clothes, because his room is a disaster.
Él recoge la ropa, porque su habitación es un desastre.

11.  Hacer ejercicio.
This phrase is used when referring to a person performing exercises or going to the
gym.
 Example:
Rachel Works out at the gym three times a week.
Rachel hace ejercicio en el gimnasio tres veces por semana.

12.  Conectar – enchufar
This phrase is used when certain appliances to be connected to the electric
current.
 Example:
The fridge isn’t working because you haven’t plugged it in.
La nevera no está funcionando porque no la has conectado.
