7. VOCABULARY WORDS:
1. MESOPHYLL-The inner tissue (parenchyma) of a leaf, containing
many chloroplasts.
2. PROKARYOTES- Prokaryotes are organisms whose cells lack a nucleus
and other organelles.
3. PROTISTS- Protists are simple eukaryotic organisms that are neither
plants nor animals or fungi.
4. CARBON DIOXIDE- Carbon dioxide is a colorless and non-flammable gas
at normal temperature and pressure.
Carbon dioxide is used as a refrigerant, in fire extinguishers, for inflating
life rafts and life jackets, blasting coal, foaming rubber and plastics,
promoting the growth of plants in greenhouses, immobilizing animals
before slaughter, and in carbonated beverages.
5. GLUCOSE- Glucose is the main type of sugar.
6. ORGANELLES- An organelle is a subcellular structure that has one or more
specific jobs to perform in the cell, much like an organ does in the body.
8. PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Is the process of food making
in plants.
Plants are autotrophs, which means they
produce their own food. They use the process
of photosynthesis to transform water, sunlight,
and carbon dioxide into oxygen, and simple
sugars that the plant uses as fuel. These
primary producers form the base of an
ecosystem and fuel the next trophic levels
