How Did Hermes Get Together
Zeus and Maia: Zeus was romantically involved w. a nymph named Maia and they made love in a
cave and Maia gave birth to Hermes (Mercury) who arrived at dawn. During the afternoon, he was
playing the lyre. At night, he stole Apollo s cattle.
Hermes Invents the Lyre: Hermes departed from the cave and ventured off. He discovered a
tortoise and decided to kill it and make an instrument out of it. He cut it up and used its shell, an
ox s hide, reeds, and strings of sheep gut to invent the first seven stringed lyre.
Quickly tuned the instrument and was playing songs to honor Zeus and Maia.

Hermes quickly hid within his blankets to act like he was an innocent child, but Apollo would not
be fooled. Apollo looked around the cave, and started asking Hermes questions.
Hermes claimed that he couldn t possibly have stolen them since he was a newborn. Apollo refused
to believe him. Apollo brought Hermes to the top of MT. Olympus, so Zeus could resolve the issue
for them.
Zeus Decides the Case: Apollo told his side of the story first and explained the truth: how Hermes
stole his cattle. Hermes, however, continued to lie and swore on oath that he was not guilty of
committing the crimes. Zeus knew that Hermes was lying and just laughed and commanded him to
bring Apollo to his cattle.
The Reconciliation between Hermes and Apollo: Hermes brought Apollo to his cattle, and they
made peace. Hermes began to play his lyre, which captivated Apollo. Apollo cried that it was worth
50 cows!
Apollo promised Hermes that he would be the messenger to the gods and that him and Maia
would have fame amongst the gods. Hermes decided to give the lyre to Apollo and deemed that he
would be a master of music. In exchange, Apollo granted Hermes a whip and put him in charge of
the cattle. They went back to Olympus and Zeus bonded them as

Fire Of Desire, Of The Movie Rudy Essay
Fire of Desire
Nearly everyone who has succeeded in some venture of life has at one point encountered critics
and criticism. The events throughout the movie, Rudy, directed by David Anspaugh, are no
different. The movie, based on a true story, is an inspiring tale of Daniel quot;Rudy quot; Rudiger
s fight against all odds to play football for Notre Dame. Rudy, through the course of his entire life,
had been told by everyone that chasing his dream of playing Notre Dame football would only
cause him heartache. Despite all hindrances, Rudy, played by Sean Astin, accomplished his dream,
and is to this day the last Notre Dame football player to be carried off the field. The reoccurring

Clearly, Rudy s coach felt he had the most heart of anyone on the team. Players with desire like
that of Rudy are becoming increasingly harder to find in today s world of athletics, and therefore
coaches are coming to appreciate them more. Rudy s self confidence and persistence in the game
of football, despite not being born with an incredible ability to play the game, is truly awe inspiring
and worthy of much praise.
Rudy was continually persistent in chasing his dream, despite constantly hearing throughout his
entire upbringing that he could not do it. Rudy perhaps faced his greatest criticism in high
school, where everyone from his parents and siblings, friends and teachers were unsupportive of
his dream. Rudy was once told in high school, quot; The secret to happiness in this life is to be
grateful for the things the good Lord has bestowed upon us...Not everyone was meant to go to
college quot; (Civics teacher). Many teachers say they have gotten into teaching because they
enjoy being a mentor to children, and children definitely need mentors during this point in their
lives. Obviously, this was not the case for Rudy s civics teacher, who spoke very adversely to
Rudy about pursuing his dream. Even worse, his own father once told him, quot;Chasing a stupid
dream causes you and everyone else nothing but heartache. Notre Dame is for rich kids, smart kids,
great athletes. Not us. You re a Rudiger, and

The Trans Pacific Partnership ( Tpp ) And Michael Froman...
Problem Statement:
The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Michael Froman (United States Trade Representative)
need to decide whether it is necessary to reduce tariffs to benefit Americans and the economy or
keep the tariffs in order to keep certain manufacturing jobs in the United States.
Background:
This case represents a prime example in terms of market demand and competition. Nike is one
of the world s largest athletic suppliers for a various number sports and other activities. Nike is
well established globally and has over a million employees across 42 nations. New Balance has
also been in the market a long time since 1906, but not quite as large as what Nike has to offer.
New Balance ranks as the fourth largest athletic footwear and apparel company in the world with
$2.4 billion in annual sales (Assche, 2014). Both companies have been very successful with their
products and have an excellent reputation and image. Many consumers are brand loyal to both
companies and it will be extremely interesting on what side the TTP takes when it comes down to
focusing in on the importance of tariffs.
Question 1: With regard to the elimination of import tariffs on Vietnamese footwear, is what is
good for Nike Inc. also in America s economic interest? What about New Balance? The elimination
of import tariffs on Vietnamese Footwear will not only benefit Nike, but the American economic
interest as well. The United States is the world s largest footwear market valued at $71.7

The Role of Women in Orthodox Judaism. Essay
The Role of Women in Orthodox Judaism.
Founded by Abraham and Moses, Judaism is almost 4,000 years old and is based on the Jewish
people s covenant relationship with God. In the traditional Judaism belief, women are viewed as
separate but equal to their male counterparts. In other words, although within the religion, women
live under heavier restrictions regarding their responsibilities and obligations, their roles are just as
important as those of the men. In the Orthodox Jewish religion, women are expected to stay at
home and take care of the house and children. They are exempted from all positive mitzvoth that

While the problem of Orthodox men refusing to give a get is most prevalent, many people do
not realize that Orthodox women also have a right to refuse to accept a get (Nelson). Under
those circumstances, both husband and wife have to sign a legally binding which will allow
Jewish court to make the decision regard a get . The court could also fine the man or woman
who refuses to live up to the contract. Due to this law, today every fifth couple in Israel choose
not to get married in the Orthodox way, and every tenth couple lives together without marrying
(Oz 74). In the Orthodox Jewish tradition women are required to dress in modest skirts or
dresses, where their legs, necks, and elbows cannot be seen in public. For that reason, they are
expected to wear sleeves at least to the elbow, blouses or dresses with necklines that do not
expose any cleavage and skirts that cover the knees when seated. This is not because a women s
body is sinful but rather that men are weak, and if they would see too much of a women s skin it
would arouse desires and distract them (Women in North America Judaism). It is also consider
immodest for married women to have uncovered hair in front of men other than her husband, not
because women s hair is considered something evil, but that is considered a beautiful thing and
should be shown only to a husband that women loves. Also, covering their hair is a part of tzniut ,

Lean Manufacturing And Its Production
Lean Manufacturing
Most people wouldn t know what Lean Manufacturing was if they hadn t either learned about it or
use it at work. Lean manufacturing is a way to eliminate waste and maximize customer value.
Delivering the right product, in the right quantity, with the right quantity, at the exact time the
customer needs it and at the lowest cost possible is the main goal of lean manufacturing. With lean
manufacturing you can have benefits such as reduced lead times, improved quality, improved on
time deliveries, less inventory, less space, less human effort, lower costs, and increased profitability.
The concept of lean manufacturing was introduced in Japan, and Toyota Production System was the
first company to use it. Lean manufacturing simply follows the notion that the customer will pay for
the value of services they receive and they will not pay for the mistakes. It was stated in Challenges
in the transformation to lean production from different manufacturing process choice that for
Toyota the focal point is not to make money but to generate value for the customers; money follows
automatically if the customers are satisfied.
The lean production philosophy is currently widely applied globally in industries such as the
process industry, aerospace industry, furniture manufacturing, the textile industry, hospitals,
government agencies, and the service industries. But, there are some principles that need to be
followed in order for companies to become lean. There are

What Are The Similarities Between Harry Potter And The...
Harry Potter and the Phallus Fallacy
An exploration of Freudian and Lacanian Phallus Theory
The phallus has long been represented as a powerful symbol time and time again in culture, pop
culture, society and media. Closely linked to the male biological penis, it is representative of
power as well as a symbol of control and strength. Even popular children s literature revolves
around the phallus in an unconscious way. The phallus works in several ways in these cases;
characters often posses objects representative of the phallus which yield power such as the use of
wands, and many story lines follow characters attempting to seize power and trying to maintain that
power with the fear of power loss constantly looming over them. ... Show more content on

A symbolic version of a phallus, such as a wand, sword or cane, is constructed to represent male
generative powers. The phallus in psychoanalytic theory is represented as the supreme symbol of
masculine power and of feminine lack (Rine 14 15). Feminist theorists constructed the term
phallocentrism in order to denote the pervasive privileging of the masculine within the current
system of signification. (Rine 22 26). Freud did not make a distinction between the penis, as a
biological bodily organ, and the phallus as a signifier of sexual difference. Freud s theory of
psychoanalysis argues that whilst men posses a penis, no one can posses a symbolic phallus
(Homer 56). Lacan, in the essay The Signification of the Phallus argues that the difference
between having and being the phallus is that men are positioned as men as long as they are seen
to have the phallus, whereas women, not having a phallus, are seen to be the phallus (Lacan
1309). To Lacan, the phallus symbolizes both the penis and the clitoris as a signifier but the
phallus is constructed to be a signifier of power and is distinguished between the sexes in terms of
lack (Lacan 1306, Rine 14). Lacan s distinction between the penis and the

Classroom Management Reflection
Classroom management is an essential skill that is required of all teachers who wish to be
effective teachers. To have good classroom management, teachers need three skills: self efficacy,
classroom experience, and a passion for teaching. Two of these concepts go hand in hand. If a
teacher is passionate about their profession, they will have a strong sense of self efficacy. Wolff,
Jarodzka, and Boshuizen (2017) state that learning to manage a classroom and teach effectively
is complicated, and the majority of the knowledge and skill development required for effective
teaching takes place within the classroom itself (p. 295). This means that not all teachers start at
the same level. There will always be room for improvement, and teachers will continue to grow
and get better as time goes on. There are many different factors that play into good classroom
management, but by far the main three needed are self efficacy, classroom experience and
passion. When the course first began, I assumed that the concept of classroom management
would be fairly straightforward. To the untrained eye, individuals are either good or bad
teachers. If a classroom is filled with chaos, then that instructor is a bad teacher. By this logic, an
individual who handles a room full of students effortlessly is a good teacher. However, it is only
now as we near the end of the course that I realize that things are not that simple. All teachers,
whether good or bad, are capable of having good

Get Paid For Grades
Title of Your Report
Should students be paid for receiving good grades? Yes students should get paid for having good
grades. Many students don t really care about their grades because they don t get a reward. Many
teens don t do nothing to fix their grades they only fix it when they are on a sport. If parents would
reward them for having good grades students would have A and B. Students should get paid
because it teaches to be responsible with money, it can also motivate them, and it can help them in
the future.
To begin, Students could be responsible with things if they could see how hard it is to earn what
they want. Money teaches teens to save and only buy what they need not what they want. Most
parents reward students with money because students want to buy lunch because they don t like
school lunches. Teens are spending most of their money on food. Rewarding students makes them
feel to try harder and harder each time.
Another reason, Parents can motivate students by paying them for having excellent grades and
excellent behavior. Well you might be asking yourself how does money benefit students? Well it
motivate teens to maintain high grades. And it can actually help them in the future for example for
college. Another question you might have is how much should i paid my student? Well most parents

giving students money a good thing or a bad thing? Giving teens money is a good thing because
they can buy what they need for school. But giving students too much money could be bad because

The Pros And Cons Of Sex Trafficking
In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, or TVPA, was passed to identify severe forms
of human trafficking, create harsh criminal penalties for offenders and provide support for
victims. The TVPA defines sex trafficking as a situation in which a commercial sex act is
induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not
attained 18 years of age ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). The inclusion of the word coercion
means that a commercial sex act can be classified as sex trafficking as long as a victim is coerced
or intimidated. The organization Fight the New Drug identifies that there are often instances in the
porn industry where the actor or actress is threatened with lawsuits or charges ( How Porn Fuels
Sex Trafficking ). Human trafficking isn t the only illegal industry fueled by sexual violence and
exploitation. The wide spread availability of cameras in devices such as portable cameras and cell
phones has made it easier to take secret recordings of another s intimate body parts and other
sexually explicit material without the individuals consent or knowledge. Growing internet access
has facilitated the nonconsensual distribution of those images but the criminal laws in the United
States have not stayed up to date with these developments. Because of this, victims of revenge porn
and nonconsensual pornographydo not have adequate means to seek justice. In a study conducted

Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est
The Horrors of War: An Explication of Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est
Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori; it is sweet and honorable to die for one s country. Wilfred
Owen is just one of many to be told this lie. Owen himself had seen the horrors of war during his
time serving in World War I and explains to the readers just how horrid it truly is in his poem
Dulce et Decorum Est. He creates the mental image of the pain and suffering he and so many other
soldiers had to experience on the battlefield. His poem creates the central idea that there is no
sweetness or honor in dying in war.
First of all, the first stanza shows the pain the soldiers endured. Owen says, knock kneed, coughing
like hags, we cursed through sludge (line 2). Owen uses a simile here to show that they were
having violent coughing fits due to the toxic materials. This goes along with what he mentions as
sludge, which is all the vile toxins around them tearing the soldiers lungs apart. In addition, Owen
specifically mentions the haunting flares, showing the emotional toll that war can have (line 3). He
uses personification to give the flares (rockets) the attribute of ... Show more content on

Owen describes it as a scene of great panic and a rush as everyone struggles to get his or her gas
mask on. He shows in gruesome detail the fate of those not fortunate enough to save themselves,
but someone still was yelling out and stumbling / and flound ring like a man on fire (line 11 12).
His use of a simile is comparing the reaction of the man who was exposed to the gas to that of
one who is on fire. He draws this comparison to show the burning, scarring pain that one has to
endure through the horrors of war. After seeing someone doomed to such a fate, one can not
simply unsee it; it is destined to remain in one s dreams for life. This does not seem like the
glorious death that is promised when dying for one s

characterized by anxious, fearful thinking or behavior. This cluster includes dependent personality
disorder (Personality 2015).
Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed personality
disorders. The terrifying fear of being left alone and being abandoned are both signs of DPD.
When faced with this disorder you really cling to other people, usually a significant other. You get
self satisfaction by being wanted by another person. Fourteen percent of people with personality
disorders are diagnosed with DPD (Ekern 2013).
The causes of dependent personality disorder to this day are unknown. Both biological and
developmental factors are most likely involved (Dependent 2015). There are multiple speculations
as to why people obtain this disorder like overprotective parenting. Also, one s social environment
can play a role in DPD. In all most all cases the patient experiencing DPD has faced some sort of
abuse or trauma, making them stick to another person (Ekern

Pros And Cons Of The Declaration Of Independence
UDI BREAKDOWN OF NEGOTIATIONS The declaration of independence on November 11th was
accompanied by the announcement of a new Rhodesian constitution which provided for the
appointment of a Regent if the Queen , acting on the advice of the Rhodesian Government , did not
appoint a Governor General within a fortnight. The role of the Regent would be to act as a
constitutional President. In response the Governor, Sir Humphrey Gibbs, dismissed Smith and his
cabinet whilst the U.S. and Canadian governments withdrew their consular representatives. In
London Mr. Wilson announced the immediate imposition of economic sanctions, including a
tobacco ban, with the main intent of hurting rather than ruining the Rhodesian economy. In New

The Governor in Salisbury refused to leave his residence, Government House, and an attempt to

end to the crisis , in Mr. Wilson s words weeks rather than months , the fear of a longer term
struggle was a threat towards sustained national unity. At the United Nations Britain tabled a
resolution calling on all nations to support Britain s measures of economic and financial sanctions
against the illegal regime. In London the Rhodesian High Commissioner, Brigadier Andrew Shaw,
was given 48 hours notice to leave. Apart from token support from South Africa other African
nations united in calling for increased economic action, the recognition of an African Rhodesian
Government in exile and ultimately some form of military action including the arrest of Ian Smith.

Symbolism in The Lord Of The Flies.
William Golding was a British writer. He has written several novels, and has won
the Nobel Prize in Literature. His best known novel is The Lord of The Flies, published
in 1954. In The Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses different themes and symbols
to get the point of the novel across. These symbols include the pigs head, the
conch, and even the boys themselves. The author uses symbols to show societys rules
and faults.
The first symbol is the conch. Ralph and Piggy discover the conch in the
beginning of the novel on the beach. They use it as a horn to call any other survivors
there may be on the island after the plane crash separates them all. The conch indicates
order and civilization in The Lord ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a fire that Jack and his followers have started
in their hunt to kill Ralph.
Piggy is the smartest and most logical of the boys, and it simply seems natural
that his glasses are a symbol of intelligence. This symbolic implication is clear from the
start of the novel; the boys use Piggy s glasses to start a fire by focusing sunlight. When
Jack s hunters attack Ralph s camp and steal Piggy s glasses it means the loss of rational
thinking and savagery is starting to take over the boys minds.
The little uns believe that there is a beastie in the woods. It stands for primal
instinct of savagery that is within every human being. The beast frightens the boys, and
only Simon is able to realize that the reason they are afraid of the beast is because it
exists within each of them. Their belief in the beast grows stronger as they become more
and more savage. Near the end of the novel, some of the boys treat it as a god and leave it
sacrifices.
Many of the novels characters signify important themes. Ralph shows order,
leadership, control and society. Piggy represents the logical and intellectual characteristic
of life. Jack is a symbol of savagery, and the longing to rule. Simon and Roger portray
the good and evil in humans. Some might see the boys society in a political point of
view, the little uns as the common people and the older boys

Dreams Essay
Dreams
In this information age, the more one knows the better will be his response to his world. What
better way to know oneself than through ones dreams and their interpretations. Take Joe for
example. He dreamt that he was lying in bed crying. When his mother came in to see what was
wrong they had sex. Initially Joe woke up, thinking he was in the middle of a nightmare. Now
there are two choices for Joe. He could either feel weird, that he had feelings about his mother, or
he could look at what symbols were in his dream. Joe decided to analyze his dream. Since he was in
his own bed, it showed that he is comfortable in his life. Secondly Joe, needed to decipher if there

Psychologists like Sigmund Freud and Karl Jung are famous for their dream studies. Freud s most
famous work, The Interpretation Of Dreams, argues that the unconscious drives and desires
contributed to conscious behavior. Freud also felt that a dream was the fulfillment of a wish.
Psychologists like Robert Van de Castle, Ph D., have concluded that children and adults dream in
the same way. Though their dreams may be different, they also serve the same purpose (Short 30).
Oona Short, author of Sweet and
Not So Sweet Dreams from Working Mother, says that small children, mainly infants dream
more often than adults do. While adults only spend about twenty percent of their nights in
dream sleep, infants spend nearly half of all sleep time dreaming (30). Dreams are put in two
categories: good dreams and nightmares. Between the ages of three and seven, one begins to
develop good dreams (Short 30 1), which are simply characterized as what makes the individual
happy. Once they have established these dreams, they last throughout one s life. In one year some
have as many as 1000 dreams, but remember very few. For that reason many people claim to be
nondreamers (Faraday 19).
Remembering dreams can be difficult for some, but dreams are remembered like all other memory.

Identity In Shakespeare s Hamlet And Henry V
At first glance, the Shakespearean plays Hamlet and Henry V are not similar. This is because they
truly are not similar not in genre, since Hamlet is a tragedy and Henry V is a historical play; not in
plot, since the protagonist in Hamlet hides in the shadows of conflict while the protagonist of
Henry V charges head first into it; and certainly not in tone, where Hamletis disastrous and Henry V
is triumphant. It is these dissimilarities of context that make Henry and Hamlet s similarities in
identity all the more interesting. Both Shakespearean protagonists are faced with extreme
circumstances, and in such extreme circumstances, they both resort to the same human
response: they question. In both plays and both characters, Shakespeare seems to explore the
depth of such questions as they pertain to human identity and as they pertain to each character s
sense of control, thus seeming to pose a question himself: what does it mean to control one s
identity? To examine Shakespeare s exploration of identity as a means of control, it is important
to understand what all constitutes each character s identity. In the case of Henry, for one, it is
apparent that the actions of his past alter his perceived identity throughout the play. Before
Henry speaks his first lines in the play, the Bishop of Ely calls Henry a true lover of the holy
Church, to which the Archbishop of Canterbury replies, The courses of [Henry s] youth
promised it not (1.1.23 24). This reckless reputation follows Henry further into the play when an
ambassador from France delivers a message to Henry from the Dauphin: ...the prince our master
says that you savor too much of your youth and bids you to be advised there s naught in France
that can be with a nimble galliard won: you cannot revel into dukedoms there (1.2.250 254). Along
with this message, the Dauphin included a gift of tennis balls meant to further insult Henry. Even
later in the play, after the English won the battle at Harfleur, the noble Frenchmen continue to
underestimate Henry s ability as a leader: What a wretched and peevish fellow is this King of
England, to mope with his fat brained followers so far out of his knowledge (3.8.120 122). What
these instances show is that the

Biography of Euripides
Chapter 1: Euripides Biography Part 1: Bob Prescott Euripides lived in a very mysterious time.
We know so little about the era in which he lived because of the loss of many ancient
manuscripts at the burning of the Library of Alexandria. Given this massive loss of knowledge
of the pre modern world, it is hard to cobble together a full biography of Euripides. There is,
however quite a lot of information known about him. This is known due to the fact that Euripides
is a character in some of Aristophanes and the other comic poet s comedies. The largest
comprehensive collection of information on the playwright, however, is from a biography called
The Life of Euripides by Satyrus of Callatis (Lefkowitz 87). The play that we have chosen to...

Or perhaps, he, like many writers, preferred to write in solitude. Throughout his life, Euripides
married twice and had three sons. His wives were Melito and Choirile and his sons were named
Mnesarchides, Mnesilochus, and Euripides. Two of his sons, Mnesilochus and Euripides,
followed in their father s footsteps and became an actor and producer, respectively (Satyrus
153). Satyrus mentions in his Vita that Euripides first wife was unfaithful, to which Lefkowitz
adds that she slept with their slave, Cephisophon (Lefkowitz 97). Satyrus explains that after
discovering that she had committed adultery, he penned Hippolytus, in which he exposes
women s immorality. (154) After remarrying, Euripides discovered that his second wife was also
unfaithful. This was said to make him even more eager to slander women. (Satyrus 154)
Speculation of how Euripides works were perceived when they were new is a difficult concept.
Given how male dominated society was at the time, a safe assumption is that Hippolytus was
well accepted, as were many of his other works. Medea, as another example, was probably well
accepted by Greeks because of its superficial display of women and foreigners. Today, the play is
known to be an interesting analysis of a complex character oppressed by society, but in ancient
times, it is uncertain whether the theatre patrons would have seen past the surface. At some point in

Sherm A Soldier s Passion For Order By John F. Marszalek
In his biography, Sherman: A Soldier s Passion for Order, John F. Marszalek explores what he
believes to be William Tecumseh Sherman s intentions for his behavior during his life time. A
professor at Mississippi State University and author of several more books about the Civil War,
Marszalek claims Sherman s actions during the Civil War were a direct result of his need for
social order and organization, asserting that he is one of the best military leaders of his era.
Marszalek begins his book with the birth of William Tecumseh Sherman. He illustrates the huge
impact that his upbringing has on his future behavior. Raised by a family friend after his father s
death, Cump Sherman grew up with the strict Catholic teachings of Maria Ewing and the distinct

He had very little control of his mostly volunteer army as they marched across Virginia. Their
inadequate training and national unpreparedness frightened Sherman, influencing him to crack
down on his soldiers which led to the early resignation of many men. Sherman concluded from this
event that the overall lack of order is what had driven the nation into chaos. As he moved into
Kentucky, Sherman quickly realized that he did not have enough men to take on the Confederate
army. His paranoia and continuous Union failures, made public with the help of reporters, impacted
Sherman very harshly. While in Kentucky, Sherman faced analysis from the press; the negative
critiques of his discipline, the absence from his family, and the realization of yet another failure
deepened his depression, stirring rumors that he is unfit to lead (163). Marszalek disagrees with this
idea, stating that those who believe Sherman lost his ability to command are wrong (169). Sherman

Importance Of Speeding
While many deadly vehicle wrecks involve two or more vehicles crashing into each other, a

injuries to three other people, happened when the driver came to the top of a hill at a high speed.
The man lost control of his vehicle and ended up going off the side of the road and crashing.
There are several things you should do to ensure a safer drivingexperience whenever you are on the

Getting What You Pay for: How Much is too Much for SEO?
Whether you own a business or agency in Toronto, Montreal, or Ottawa, you may already have
given some thought to the topic of search engine optimization (SEO). Unless you are a digital
marketing expert, you cannot provide your brand with the kind of online optimization required to
get consistently high rankings. That is why businesses rely on professionals to perform this
necessary function.
One of the top misconceptions that many businesses have is that SEO services should be delivered
at a cheap rate. Why is this? There may be a few major factors that contribute to this fallacy. First,
many business marketers seem to be largely uninformed about the importance of SEO in terms of ...

Instead of outranking your competitors, which was the reason you decided to hire an SEO firm in
the first place, you might get outdated or ineffective link building. In fact, if the practices you paid
for are implemented unethically, you might even be deindexed or penalized by Google.
Instead of asking how much is too much for SEO, the more appropriate question might be: How
much is too little? You will not get the SEO results you expect for $10 a month or even $100 per
month. When SEO is done correctly, it is a complex process that involves an assortment of factors.
To be carried out effectively, quality SEO requires many hours of work. If you are not paying at
least several hundred dollars monthly, you might as well focus your marketing efforts on Google
AdWords. Once you can afford to pay for quality SEO services, you can enjoy higher rankings and
gain an edge on the competition.
Paying for Service Packages
If you have ever shopped around for SEO services, you have almost certainly seen general
packages available. These packages are often intended to provide clients with options, but what
they typically do is exclude necessary services unless clients pay the top price. If you choose one
of the lower priced packages, you might not get citations or backlinks. The plan that will truly
benefit you is usually going to be the highest priced option, and that could take many

Evolution Marriott had a very colorful history and expanded and grew mainly through mergers
and acquisitions. For example, the first international expansion was the acquisition of an airline
catering service in 1966. In 1987, Marriott continued the expansion by acquiring Fairfield Inn and
Residence Inn and entered the lower moderate lodging segment. The rapid growth and global
acquisitions fostered lots of powerful strategies. These strategies were vital for Marriott to sustain
and be successful in the competitive market. (ilovethjw, 2010) Marriott established six strategies
to compete with its rivals. The first strategy was the Next Generation travelers, which purpose was
to understand and attract Gen X, Y and future guests. The second strategy was the Brand
distinction as a way to invest in innovation and differentiation. The third one was the Portfolio

were the Technology leadership which empowered connections for guests and associates and the
Owner preference which generated value for hotel owners and franchises. The sixth strategy was
the Global Growth which guided Marriott to expand their footprint and profitability. Other than
these six strategies, Marriott also developed a corporate social responsibility strategy known as

My Autobiography Of Music
Music is listened by every culture whether it be a from of a voice, instrument or a combination of
both. Everywhere you go music can be heard, while driving you may have the radio on or when
your in a mall the store might have relaxing songs playing while you conduct your daily business.
Even while watching TV shows there is always background musicplaying.
Growing up my music library was very dull to non exitance. My parents were immigrants from
India starting their journey in Canada around 1992 in Surrey British Columbia, a beautiful city
where I was later born in 1996. My parents alongside my grandma had a tough life from working
jobs in the farmers fields picking strawberry s to consistently finding a way to deal with financial
issues such as paying rent, grocery s and having no English speaking or writing skills. You could
say my family was living in harsh poverty no better than when my parents were in India. This
correlated into a harsh affect for me, when growing up young we did not have a Tv, computer or
even a car. Heck, I don t even remember having much toys or clothing accessories to wear, at a very
young age I realized the fundamentals of society, no one was equally it was a fight for survival.
Challa by Gurdas Maan was really the first song I remember seeing on an old fat 32 inch TV that

because I can no longer feel the hot ultraviolent rays of radiation. They come from the sun and can
be very dangerous. The Ozone protects the Earth from them.

The Pros And Cons Of The Global Information Age
The Global Information Age has inevitably transformed the world into a global village with an
elastic and wide range of digital connectivity. The digital era, specifically the cyberspace, has

My Dream Home
My dream house may be a little different from what other people may like but I will tell you that
my heaven would be no different than what I experience everyday here. I love the adventures
that I am able to experience everyday, there is not one dull moment Of all of my wildest dreams
there is not one hobby that I would not be able to manifest. Most of my time is spent outside so I
do need an awesome landscape where I can get exercise while having fun. My yard is the second
greatest place in my house. This is where my few visitors are the most besides my play room.
They thought that I was crazy when I said I would live in a volcano, but obviously no one has
ever tried to jump into an erupting volcano. The hard part is finding out when the next eruption
is which takes years of study and know that if you miss it you have to wait until the next one.
They say volcano s are the gate of hell, but for me it s just the opposite. You may say how can
you jump into a erupting volcano you would burn alive . But that isn t true, when magma spews
from the crater it isn t hot until it has been in the air for 30 seconds or until it has been on the

People Management Fiasco in Honda Motors
People Management Fiasco in Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Ltd
1. There were a few different key factors that led to the breakdown of industrial relations at
HMSI. Although it seemed that HMSI was very concerned and aware of the needs of its
employees, things still went downhill. The first issue arose in November of 2004. Union leaders
were not impressed with the amount each worker received in their annual Diwali gift. They felt
belittled that they received such a small gift when comparing it to the stature of the company in the
global market. Workers were also upset they had to sign a movement sheet when bathroom or water
breaks were needed. The company hardly ever granted shift changes between workers and would

The managers were also not trained properly and maintained a centralized management approach.
An HMSI manager was quoted in the statement saying, The Japanese do not understand the workers
language. Management failed to understand the ideas brought to them by workers, could not
understand the organizational working from the employees point of view. It was said that the
Japanese failed to give Indian managers enough power to solve problems. The Indian managers
were production specialists, who had very little understanding of industrial relations issues. 3.The
HRM strategy that was being pursued by the management was in alignment with the philosophies of
its parent company HMCL. The HMCL considered itself a unique organization, having adopted
some distinctive employment and production practices. There were two fundamental beliefs HMSI
s philosophy advocated: respect for individual differences, and the three Joys . Respect for the
individual stemmed from initiative, equality, and trust. This translated into independence of spirit
and freedom, equality and mutual trust of human beings who worked or came into contact with the
company. The three joys; buying, selling, and manufacturing, even translated into the key mission:

Karl Marx s Class Conflict Theory
Karl Marx s Class Conflict Theory
Introduction
Karl Marx believed that struggle or conflict among classes was an inevitable feature of capitalism
based on the argument that various groups in a society or social classes perpetually fight and
compete for resources and power, hence the groups remains polarized against each other. The Karl
Marx s conflict theory views behavior from the perspective of conflict or tension among two or
more groups. The conflict does not necessarily translate to violence but rather takes the form of
struggle within political negotiations, business, philosophical ideologies or personal attitudes. A
critical analysis of Karl Marx conflict theory s point of view reveals that the conflict of social
classes is the major aspect of societal conflict, and is mostly propagated by the differences in
economic statuses and inequalities in distribution.
Human societies have been class based in some way and the class factor has been the most basic
dividing or differentiating factor between broad social groups. In the economic sphere that Marx
s theory focuses on, there is a class that own and control means of economic production which
could be referred to as the upper class, and there is the class that maybe own nothing, but their
ability to sell their labor power in return for wages which could be referred to as the middle or low
class. From that understanding, and based on the conflict theory, one might argue that unequal
distribution of resources and access

Lord Of The Flies Themes
GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes
that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no
hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and
do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way,
which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go
back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as
some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in
them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy
first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all
dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says
this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the
island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued
from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people
end wars there is no hope for peace in the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric
(pg. 188) They hate you Ralph...They re going to hunt you tomorrow. Critics might think that this
shows there is no hope for humanity to keep moving forward. When the boys decide to hunt Ralph
it shows a more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they
decide to eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will
start to go back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will

Flat Stanley Character Analysis
Flat Stanley
пЂHave you ever wished that you could wake up one day and have a completely different look?
If so, you may wish you were Stanley Lambchop, an ordinary boy who wakes up one morning
looking very different he is only half an inch thick! Because of a falling bulletin board (which
made Stanley flat), Stanley gets to experience all sorts of fun adventures. Does living a flat life suit
Stanley, though? You will have to read this classic, funny book to find out!
пЂFlat Stanley would be targeted to my lowest readers. It is quite a preposterous notion to wake
up flat, and the humor will keep my students engaged. While Stanley does have some fun
adventures being flat, at the end of the day, he does not really want to be different. This... Show

He has been homeschooled all his life, but this year, he is entering a private school down the street

means to be human and how hard it is to be different and accept others, looking beyond the surface
to see the person underneath.
пЂI have heard nothing but good things about Wonder, and I would ideally do it as a read aloud.
(The Report Card is pretty short.) It teaches so much about acceptance and looking past the
surface to see the person underneath, and that is what I want my students to do. I have yet to read

in the classroom to help students learn about people who are different.

The Jiff Lemon Case
1)Advise Markt whether Markt might be liable to NeemMiracle Ltd in Australia and New Zealand
for launching their neem oil hair care products under the brand name Mira Neem.
Is Markt at risk and liable to NeemMiracle with respect to Trade Mark infringement, passing off,
misleading or deceptive conduct?
No Trade Mark infringement for two reasons;
a)The mark or get up being used by Markt only similar in colour and not necessarily name, the
word neem may be argued to be descriptive. and
b)NeemMiracle has not registered the trademark in either Australia or New Zealand.
There may be a case for passing off under common law and/or misleading and deceptive conduct
under S 18 ACL . An action in passing off deals only with misrepresentation, for an action in
passing off to be successful we can refer to the classical trinity . In the Jiff Lemon Case Lord
Oliver set out three tests for an action in passing off to be met. The classical trinity has been used
as a touchstone for passing off.
It can be argued that the getup of the Mira Neem product(s) is adopting a similar style or mark to
NeemMiracle with respect to choice of colour, font and naming of the product; further argued that
the confusing labelling of the product without any disclaimer may misrepresent the Mira Neem
product as part of the products currently produced and marketed by NeemMiracle.

Compare And Contrast A Sound Of Thunder And Nethergrave
The stories A Sound of Thunder Ray Bradbury, and Nethergrave Glori Skurzynski, are two
interesting stories. Though each different from one another, they have many similarities. One of the
biggest comparisons of both of these stories is the theme. The theme of these stories relate back to
the overall theme that technology affects the world in many ways.
Bradbury s A Sound of Thunder seemed to have more of a serious tone to it. Eckels found that just
the simplest action can tremendously affect the future. Eckels learns the danger of time travel after
his journey in a time machine. The Advance technology in this story ends up costing Eckels his life

The Devildogs Quotes With Page Numbers
As I read through the beginning of the book, I was continuously vexed by how careless Julio and
Romiette behaved around gangs. By analyzing the pair s actions, we can infer that they don t see
The Devildogs as a serious threat. This excerpt is a magnificent example of that. This passage
describes how Julio and Romiette respond to a potentially dangerous situation with careless
actions. The duo is stared down by potentially dangerous gang members, and they reply by loudly
dancing on the table. Not only would common sense tell them this is not a good idea, but also the
fact that Julio moved away from Texas to escape gangs. You would think that these combined
factors would encourage Romiette and especially Julio to take gangs as a serious threat.... Show

The plot to High School Musical is that the male main character, Troy, meets the female main
character, Gabriella, at a New Years party. During the holiday break, Gabrielle moves to Troy s
school district, and they see each other in the hall when school starts again. Troy and Gabriella

who s trying to start fresh. Together they fall in love and find a mutual love of theater.
Consequently, Sharpay and Ryan, who are consistently given the lead roles, feel threatened.
They try to break up Troy and Gabriella while the brainiacs and the basketball team cooks up a
plan to do the same. In the end, Troy and Gabriella end up together, and everyone else is ok with
it. Add some predictable plot twists, and a few cheesy musical numbers and you have High
School Musical! Highschool Musical sounds exceedingly similar to Romiette and Julio. People are

Literature Review Literature Review
Literature reviews can be of great benefit to social work practitioners. According to the Health
and Care Profession s Council s standards of proficiency for social workers, practitioners must be
able to engage in evidence informed practice (HCPC, 2017. p.11). This evidence includes
research knowledge (Webber, 2014). The requirement for practitioners to draw on knowledge
from developments in policy, practice and research is also reflected in the Professional
Capabilities Framework for Social workers in England (The British Association of Social Work,
2012). Exploring research papers can assist with this process but with the increasing amount of
published research reports, one can be overwhelmed by the amount of papers to digest and
consider its application (Aveyard, 2014). As a literature review gives a clear picture of all the
relevant literature on a specific topic, it proves a more convenient strategy for learning about the
current context regarding an area of interest. Furthermore, Webber explains that research evidence
is important for social work practice as it informs our knowledge on what works and does not
work for service users (2014). This suggests that practitioners should endeavour to stay up to date
with their knowledge of developments in social work as part of their professional development in
order to ensure they can practice effectively with service users.

Information from the outside world comes through our senses. The information is then interpreted,
and this interpretation gives meaning to what is sensed. For example, when you hear your alarm
clock, the actual sound you hear is the sensation. How you construe the meaning of the alarm is
your interpretation. If it is 7 a.m. on a weekday, you would probably interpret the alarm as a signal
to get moving and begin the day. However, the same alarm may have a different meaning on a
holiday. You might perceive yourself as an absurd for setting the alarm, or you might snicker at the
alarm and roll over. In both instances, the sensation (the ring) was the same, but your interpretation
changed because of other factors.

Pericles Leadership Style
Described by Thucydides as the foremost Athenian and most able in speech or action [at the
time of the Peloponnesian War,] Pericles ushered in what was widely known as the Golden Age
of Athens (31). He often exercised great prudence in his decision making and was widely admired
by the Greek people. The man stressed justice, the worth of the Empire, and cleaving one s
personal interests to those of the city. Through his eloquent speeches and definitive actions he
captured both the hearts of the Athenians and territory as a premier military commander. The
people readily accepted his authority, and became accustomed to it. This would only lead to
problems down the road, however, as other rulers took up the mantle of Athens. They would only
be but a gilded echo of Pericles, unable and unwilling to follow his path. Therefore, though Pericles
did not intentionally set Athens up to fail, because of the oratorical skill, leadership style, and
character he possessed, success could only be truly achieved by and through him.
First and foremost, Pericles was perhaps the best type of person to lead an empire like Athens
because of his ability to sway the people with his speaking. Near the beginning of a speech by the
Corinthians, wherein Corinth is attempting to persuade the Lacedaemonians to declare war on
Athens, the orators describe the empire as bold beyond their power, [who] take thoughtless risks...
and never hesitate (19). According to them, the Athenians were an impulsive

What Is The Role Of Segregation In African American Society
After slavery got abolished people that were white had opinions of free and voting African
Americans. Few accepted them as equal and free. Although some white Americans welcomed them,
others used people s ignorance, racism, and self interest to sustain and spread racial divisions.
Hence the African Americans were treated as a second citizen and kept to a lower level. The
Southern States where most black African Americans lived started enacting literally tests, tax polls,
elaborate registration systems, and all white democratic parties to exclude black voters.1 America at
this moment , said the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1945, stands at the

  • 11. What Are The Similarities Between Harry Potter And The... Harry Potter and the Phallus Fallacy An exploration of Freudian and Lacanian Phallus Theory The phallus has long been represented as a powerful symbol time and time again in culture, pop culture, society and media. Closely linked to the male biological penis, it is representative of power as well as a symbol of control and strength. Even popular children s literature revolves around the phallus in an unconscious way. The phallus works in several ways in these cases; characters often posses objects representative of the phallus which yield power such as the use of wands, and many story lines follow characters attempting to seize power and trying to maintain that power with the fear of power loss constantly looming over them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A symbolic version of a phallus, such as a wand, sword or cane, is constructed to represent male generative powers. The phallus in psychoanalytic theory is represented as the supreme symbol of masculine power and of feminine lack (Rine 14 15). Feminist theorists constructed the term phallocentrism in order to denote the pervasive privileging of the masculine within the current system of signification. (Rine 22 26). Freud did not make a distinction between the penis, as a biological bodily organ, and the phallus as a signifier of sexual difference. Freud s theory of psychoanalysis argues that whilst men posses a penis, no one can posses a symbolic phallus (Homer 56). Lacan, in the essay The Signification of the Phallus argues that the difference between having and being the phallus is that men are positioned as men as long as they are seen to have the phallus, whereas women, not having a phallus, are seen to be the phallus (Lacan 1309). To Lacan, the phallus symbolizes both the penis and the clitoris as a signifier but the phallus is constructed to be a signifier of power and is distinguished between the sexes in terms of lack (Lacan 1306, Rine 14). • 12. Classroom Management Reflection Classroom management is an essential skill that is required of all teachers who wish to be effective teachers. To have good classroom management, teachers need three skills: self efficacy, classroom experience, and a passion for teaching. Two of these concepts go hand in hand. If a teacher is passionate about their profession, they will have a strong sense of self efficacy. Wolff, Jarodzka, and Boshuizen (2017) state that learning to manage a classroom and teach effectively is complicated, and the majority of the knowledge and skill development required for effective teaching takes place within the classroom itself (p. 295). This means that not all teachers start at the same level. There will always be room for improvement, and teachers will continue to grow and get better as time goes on. There are many different factors that play into good classroom management, but by far the main three needed are self efficacy, classroom experience and passion. When the course first began, I assumed that the concept of classroom management would be fairly straightforward. To the untrained eye, individuals are either good or bad teachers. If a classroom is filled with chaos, then that instructor is a bad teacher. By this logic, an individual who handles a room full of students effortlessly is a good teacher. However, it is only now as we near the end of the course that I realize that things are not that simple. All teachers, whether good or bad, are capable of having good ... The Pros And Cons Of Sex Trafficking In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, or TVPA, was passed to identify severe forms of human trafficking, create harsh criminal penalties for offenders and provide support for victims. The TVPA defines sex trafficking as a situation in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). The inclusion of the word coercion means that a commercial sex act can be classified as sex trafficking as long as a victim is coerced or intimidated. The organization Fight the New Drug identifies that there are often instances in the porn industry where the actor or actress is threatened with lawsuits or charges ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). Human trafficking isn t the only illegal industry fueled by sexual violence and exploitation. The wide spread availability of cameras in devices such as portable cameras and cell phones has made it easier to take secret recordings of another s intimate body parts and other sexually explicit material without the individuals consent or knowledge. Growing internet access has facilitated the nonconsensual distribution of those images but the criminal laws in the United States have not stayed up to date with these developments. Because of this, victims of revenge porn and nonconsensual pornographydo not have adequate means to seek justice. In a study conducted by Cynthia Najdowski at the University ... • 18. Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est The Horrors of War: An Explication of Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori; it is sweet and honorable to die for one s country. Wilfred Owen is just one of many to be told this lie. Owen himself had seen the horrors of war during his time serving in World War I and explains to the readers just how horrid it truly is in his poem Dulce et Decorum Est. He creates the mental image of the pain and suffering he and so many other soldiers had to experience on the battlefield. His poem creates the central idea that there is no sweetness or honor in dying in war. First of all, the first stanza shows the pain the soldiers endured. Owen says, knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (line 2). Owen uses a simile here to show that they were having violent coughing fits due to the toxic materials. This goes along with what he mentions as sludge, which is all the vile toxins around them tearing the soldiers lungs apart. In addition, Owen specifically mentions the haunting flares, showing the emotional toll that war can have (line 3). He uses personification to give the flares (rockets) the attribute of ... He shows in gruesome detail the fate of those not fortunate enough to save themselves, but someone still was yelling out and stumbling / and flound ring like a man on fire (line 11 12). His use of a simile is comparing the reaction of the man who was exposed to the gas to that of one who is on fire. He draws this comparison to show the burning, scarring pain that one has to endure through the horrors of war. After seeing someone doomed to such a fate, one can not simply unsee it; it is destined to remain in one s dreams for life. This does not seem like the glorious death that is promised when dying for one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His best known novel is The Lord of The Flies, published in 1954. In The Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses different themes and symbols to get the point of the novel across. These symbols include the pigs head, the conch, and even the boys themselves. The author uses symbols to show societys rules and faults. The first symbol is the conch. When Jack s hunters attack Ralph s camp and steal Piggy s glasses it means the loss of rational thinking and savagery is starting to take over the boys minds. Psychologists like Robert Van de Castle, Ph D., have concluded that children and adults dream in the same way. Though their dreams may be different, they also serve the same purpose (Short 30). Oona Short, author of Sweet and Not So Sweet Dreams from Working Mother, says that small children, mainly infants dream more often than adults do. While adults only spend about twenty percent of their nights in dream sleep, infants spend nearly half of all sleep time dreaming (30). Dreams are put in two categories: good dreams and nightmares. • 24. Identity In Shakespeare s Hamlet And Henry V At first glance, the Shakespearean plays Hamlet and Henry V are not similar. This is because they truly are not similar not in genre, since Hamlet is a tragedy and Henry V is a historical play; not in plot, since the protagonist in Hamlet hides in the shadows of conflict while the protagonist of Henry V charges head first into it; and certainly not in tone, where Hamletis disastrous and Henry V is triumphant. It is these dissimilarities of context that make Henry and Hamlet s similarities in identity all the more interesting. Both Shakespearean protagonists are faced with extreme circumstances, and in such extreme circumstances, they both resort to the same human response: they question. In both plays and both characters, Shakespeare seems to explore the depth of such questions as they pertain to human identity and as they pertain to each character s sense of control, thus seeming to pose a question himself: what does it mean to control one s identity? To examine Shakespeare s exploration of identity as a means of control, it is important to understand what all constitutes each character s identity. In the case of Henry, for one, it is apparent that the actions of his past alter his perceived identity throughout the play. Before Henry speaks his first lines in the play, the Bishop of Ely calls Henry a true lover of the holy Church, to which the Archbishop of Canterbury replies, The courses of [Henry s] youth promised it not (1.1.23 24). This reckless reputation follows Henry further into the play when an ambassador from France delivers a message to Henry from the Dauphin: ...the prince our master says that you savor too much of your youth and bids you to be advised there s naught in France that can be with a nimble galliard won: you cannot revel into dukedoms there (1.2.250 254). Along with this message, the Dauphin included a gift of tennis balls meant to further insult Henry. Even later in the play, after the English won the battle at Harfleur, the noble Frenchmen continue to underestimate Henry s ability as a leader: What a wretched and peevish fellow is this King of England, to mope with his fat brained followers so far out of his knowledge (3.8.120 122). We know so little about the era in which he lived because of the loss of many ancient manuscripts at the burning of the Library of Alexandria. Given this massive loss of knowledge of the pre modern world, it is hard to cobble together a full biography of Euripides. There is, however quite a lot of information known about him. This is known due to the fact that Euripides is a character in some of Aristophanes and the other comic poet s comedies. Throughout his life, Euripides married twice and had three sons. His wives were Melito and Choirile and his sons were named Mnesarchides, Mnesilochus, and Euripides. Two of his sons, Mnesilochus and Euripides, followed in their father s footsteps and became an actor and producer, respectively (Satyrus 153). Satyrus mentions in his Vita that Euripides first wife was unfaithful, to which Lefkowitz adds that she slept with their slave, Cephisophon (Lefkowitz 97). Satyrus explains that after discovering that she had committed adultery, he penned Hippolytus, in which he exposes women s immorality. (154) After remarrying, Euripides discovered that his second wife was also unfaithful. This was said to make him even more eager to slander women. (Satyrus 154) Speculation of how Euripides works were perceived when they were new is a difficult concept. Given how male dominated society was at the time, a safe assumption is that Hippolytus was well accepted, as were many of his other works. Medea, as another example, was probably well accepted by Greeks because of its superficial display of women and foreigners. For example, the first international expansion was the acquisition of an airline catering service in 1966. In 1987, Marriott continued the expansion by acquiring Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn and entered the lower moderate lodging segment. The rapid growth and global acquisitions fostered lots of powerful strategies. These strategies were vital for Marriott to sustain and be successful in the competitive market. (ilovethjw, 2010) Marriott established six strategies to compete with its rivals. The first strategy was the Next Generation travelers, which purpose was to understand and attract Gen X, Y and future guests. The third one was the Portfolio power which built loyalty with the most compelling family of brands. • 42. Karl Marx s Class Conflict Theory Karl Marx s Class Conflict Theory Introduction Karl Marx believed that struggle or conflict among classes was an inevitable feature of capitalism based on the argument that various groups in a society or social classes perpetually fight and compete for resources and power, hence the groups remains polarized against each other. The Karl Marx s conflict theory views behavior from the perspective of conflict or tension among two or more groups. The conflict does not necessarily translate to violence but rather takes the form of struggle within political negotiations, business, philosophical ideologies or personal attitudes. A critical analysis of Karl Marx conflict theory s point of view reveals that the conflict of social classes is the major aspect of societal conflict, and is mostly propagated by the differences in economic statuses and inequalities in distribution. Human societies have been class based in some way and the class factor has been the most basic dividing or differentiating factor between broad social groups. In the economic sphere that Marx s theory focuses on, there is a class that own and control means of economic production which could be referred to as the upper class, and there is the class that maybe own nothing, but their ability to sell their labor power in return for wages which could be referred to as the middle or low class. From that understanding, and based on the conflict theory, one might argue that unequal distribution of resources and access ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Lord Of The Flies Themes GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the island. This passage describes how Julio and Romiette respond to a potentially dangerous situation with careless actions. • 48. Literature Review Literature Review Literature reviews can be of great benefit to social work practitioners. According to the Health and Care Profession s Council s standards of proficiency for social workers, practitioners must be able to engage in evidence informed practice (HCPC, 2017. p.11). This evidence includes research knowledge (Webber, 2014). The requirement for practitioners to draw on knowledge from developments in policy, practice and research is also reflected in the Professional Capabilities Framework for Social workers in England (The British Association of Social Work, 2012). Exploring research papers can assist with this process but with the increasing amount of published research reports, one can be overwhelmed by the amount of papers to digest and consider its application (Aveyard, 2014). As a literature review gives a clear picture of all the relevant literature on a specific topic, it proves a more convenient strategy for learning about the current context regarding an area of interest. Furthermore, Webber explains that research evidence is important for social work practice as it informs our knowledge on what works and does not work for service users (2014). This suggests that practitioners should endeavour to stay up to date with their knowledge of developments in social work as part of their professional development in order to ensure they can practice effectively with service users. • 51. Pericles Leadership Style Described by Thucydides as the foremost Athenian and most able in speech or action [at the time of the Peloponnesian War,] Pericles ushered in what was widely known as the Golden Age of Athens (31). He often exercised great prudence in his decision making and was widely admired by the Greek people. The man stressed justice, the worth of the Empire, and cleaving one s personal interests to those of the city. Through his eloquent speeches and definitive actions he captured both the hearts of the Athenians and territory as a premier military commander. The people readily accepted his authority, and became accustomed to it. This would only lead to problems down the road, however, as other rulers took up the mantle of Athens. They would only be but a gilded echo of Pericles, unable and unwilling to follow his path. Therefore, though Pericles did not intentionally set Athens up to fail, because of the oratorical skill, leadership style, and character he possessed, success could only be truly achieved by and through him. First and foremost, Pericles was perhaps the best type of person to lead an empire like Athens because of his ability to sway the people with his speaking. Near the beginning of a speech by the Corinthians, wherein Corinth is attempting to persuade the Lacedaemonians to declare war on Athens, the orators describe the empire as bold beyond their power, [who] take thoughtless risks... and never hesitate (19).
