Voyage To America Research Paper
The voyage to America for the servants was a horrible journey. Servants were packed in boats with
little to no space. An individual would be given 2 feet width and 6 feet length to sleep in, but boats
were usually overloaded with hundreds of servants including tools, provision and other items that took
up space. Packed in space, fewer boats servants were carried to England from Holland. This journey
usually took two to four weeks depending on the winds. If winds were good, the journey would take
eight days or sooner to arrive. Servants were allowed to take their money, but were forced to waste it
all to purchase goods but they still ended starving. Once the ships arrived in England the voyage
began to Philadelphia. The duration of this voyage also consisted of what types of winds there were. If
winds were good, the voyage took up to eight to 12 weeks. During these voyages, people suffered
terrible misery, horror, vomiting, cancer, and other sicknesses which caused many servants to die.
Young children from infants to the age of seven served the voyage, although most of the children were
thrown into the sea for their parents saw no future or peace on earth for them. Sickness in the ships
spread rapidly due to the unsanitary environment servants were forced to stay in. Warm food was

Servants would eat peas and loblollie. They were also enforced to work hard from dawn to dust all for
a loaf of bread, beef, and water. The bread was large enough to only feed four men. People would cry

but their sickness, they had nothing but two rags that were used for shirt, and one a pair of stocking
that was used at shoes, and two collars that were used as hats. The life of a servant was the worst from

Examples Of Identity In Brave New World
Community, Identity, Stability is the motto of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. the World State s
motto, COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY (Huxley, 5). Basically, these words describe the
society of the new world and are the basics in building a perfect world as well as the main goals of
Utopia. Community is the relationship between the classes in the society of the World State that live
together. Even during death, a body is not left alone. Identity refers to the five castes within the
society: Epsilons, Alphas, Gammas, Betas, and Deltas. Identity differs among each caste based on
their roles within the society. Stability is the peaceful environment that is created for the people of the

The connection among the societies gets stronger when people have sex with a person of their choice.
Community is achieved by systemizing life so that one is almost never alone. The people of the Brave
New World are controlled by a Controller known as Mustapha Mond in order to achieve Community.
Community is in part a result of identity and stability (Pearce, 1998). Every child lives together
without any parents and is conditioned to feel and think the same way as others and to fear and have
the same likes and dislikes, as well as the similar beliefs as the other residents of the New World.
Community is also achieved through a religion that satirizes Christianity. In relation to this religion,
the elder residents of the New World are urged to participate in the Solidarity Service which includes
community sing that one has to attend about once a week which makes everyone feel connected.
Solitude and loneliness does not exist in Brave New World because everyone often entertains each
other. Every caste benefits each other, fulfilling the idea of Community. Every one works for every
one else. We can t do without any one. Even Epsilons are useful. We couldn t do without Epsilons

Employee Compensation And Benefits Packages Essay
Introduction In today s competitive workforce, compensation and benefit packages plays a crucial role
on recruitment and retention for both the organization and the employee. Bumpbie finds itself in a
situation where it could positively affect its employee s morale, turnover rate and longevity; by
making a strategic decision to implement compensation and benefit packages that will encourage
current workers to stay and entice new applicants. Money is not always the inherent reason businesses
experience high turnover rate, the constant shifting in the job market will always be a contributing
factor as well as employee s moral. Mayhew, R. (2016), explains that an employee compensation plan
refers to all the components offered as well as the way in which they are paid, and the reason behind
the employees getting the compensation case bonuses, salary increases and incentives. The fact that
there are voluntary and mandatory benefits that organization provides to their employees give
employees the freedom of choice, as well as the option to make the whether to stay with or leave an
organization based on the benefits it provides. Variable Pay is also an option that some employers
offer their employee which is performance based or results oriented. Whether it is profit sharing, merit
based programs or incentive bonuses; it all comes down to which organization can provide employees
with the compensation or benefits packages that best satisfy their needs. How Benefits compare

With this strategy, Maxx can get many loyal customers. Maxx incorporated inbuilt payments into the
app which added value to their customers in a way of saving time, eliminating cash or card and easy

However, all strategy that have been discussed before seems usual and not unique. I recommended
Maxx to build a street light that transformed into an oversized carafe pouring a cup of coffee. By this
strategy, I believe that, this will attract a lot of people that are passing by the street. This will result to
the increment of the number of customer that will come to Maxx Coffee.
Another strategy that I recommended is using a QR Code that can use for customer to trade with
prizes in the unique vending machine. When the customers make a purchase from Maxx, then they
will receive a receipt with the QR Code printed on it. They can use the QR code once to trade with the
prizes in the vending machine. Moreover, he can try to collaborate with Niantic Company to create a

Analysis of Gilberto M. Llanto and Marife M. Ballesteros’s...
The effects of Land issues to poverty
The Philippines has always been an agricultural country. This can be an effect of the country s tropical
weather. According to the World Bank, in 2009, the country has 40% of agricultural land area. The
country s economy has been dependent on agricultural production. The country s agriculture sector is
made up of 4 sub sectors: farming, fisheries, livestock, and forestry, which together employ 39.8
percent of the labor force and contribute 20 percent of GDP. Farmers work under the sun s heat in
order to feed the mouths of not only their families who are under poverty but also the millions of
Filipinos.
Land issues have always been a problem in the country. There would still be numerous reports on
killings because of undistributed land. There would always be problems on housing loans and grants
from the government. In effect, our Filipino farmers would still work under the same landowners and
would be deprived of developing their own lives.
In Gilberto M. Llanto and Marife M. Ballesteros s article, Land Issues in Poverty Reduction Strategies
and the Development Agenda: Philippines , it shows how land problems in the country can affect the
alleviation of poverty. According to the author, there are five critical land issues. These are the
following: (1) unclear and inconsistent land policies; (2) inefficient land administration infrastructure;
(3) highly politicized land tax system; (4) inefficient agrarian reform program;

Essay on 3-D Diorama Of the Novel Night by Eli Wiesel
This 3 D diorama illustrates a significant scene in the novel Night. This story originated during the
First World War in Sighet, Hungary. The Nazis were in power and they wanted to exterminate the
Jewish population; this was referred to as the Holocaust. The religious town of Sighet has not been
raided yet, so they re expecting for the best. The main characters are Elizer and his father. Sadly, the
Nazis reach Sighet and gather the Jews. They could only bring what they could carry, so homes and
other valuables were left alone. In this scene, the Jewish population of the small town are being
deported to Auschwitz. Auschwitz was the first concentration camp they were sent to, so this was
going to have a huge impact on their lives. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significant colors used are red and black within the scene. There are ruthless officers in the camp
covered with blood from the assassinated victims. There is a huge crematorium where people would
be burned after being killed. There is a red light inside to symbolize blood, screams and death. There
are gray ashes rising from the crematorium and these are the only remains of the dead. The cattle car
has just reached the Auschwitz station and the officers are preparing for a new batch of Jews. This
scene shows the transition between the present and future. Furthermore, it illustrates what the victims
of the Holocaust had to lose and endure for several years during the Great War. This scene (selection
2) illustrates an important twist in the beginning of the novel
I have incorporated many presentation techniques to further enhance my diorama. For example, my
presentation uses many literary devices such as mood, juxtapositions, allusions, imagery and symbols.
On the stage, there are two different scenes. One half illustrates Sighet and the other illustrates the
Auschwitz station. Firstly, the outside of my shoebox contains two dominant colors: black and white.
On one side, it is completely black on the exterior. Black is commonly associated with power, death,
struggles and many other negative aspects. This technique better illustrates the literary term imagery.
The Nazis were in power and they violently killed the

Powerball Lottery Research Paper
The chances of winning the Powerball lottery is one in 175 million. You would have a greater chance
to be struck by lightning, which is one in three thousand or being killed by a shark, one in 3.7 million.
You would literally have greater luck dying from a comet and being killed by a shark at the same time
than finding those six lucky numbers.....[good pause] Regardless, thousands of people buy a lottery
ticket in the hopes of winning million. My family was similar to these individuals, hoping to somehow
defy the seemingly absolute laws of mathematics and statistics. However, instead of the lottery, we
tried to find success as immigrants in the land of opportunity. We suffered a culture shock moving
from the cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong to the rural outskirts of Indianapolis. The towering and
majestic skyscrapers were squashed into two story homes surrounded by a sea of wheat. Despite our
ambitions, we had few skills to aid us in our pursuit of success. The money that we had borrowed
from relatives manifested in an unsuccessful restaurant, occupied with the hopes of success rather than
tangible customers. I suffered linguistic shortcomings, failing to articulate the words of English that

NCAA Recruiting Issues
Once the proposal was shown, the NCAA council and the committee made all necessary changes; they
were then able to call for a special convention that same year in 1973 (Katz Seifried 2014). This time,
Sherman proposed three legislative and three competitive divisions (Katz Seifried 2014). The
institutions would be able to pick a division without considering their football teams, and then the
College Football Committee would determine where the college football team should fall and the
institution would follow suit (Katz Seifried 2014). He also proposed by 1975 that there would be 39
national championships and 10 in each division (Katz Seifried 2014). Once brought to a vote, the
results were much different: 366 were in favor and only 13 were not (Katz Seifried 2014). The birth of

Recruiting can happen face to face contact, phone calls or through email. A contact can happen at any
time a college coach says more than hello during a face to face meeting with a student athlete off the

college before he or she signs the National Letter of Intent. A verbal commitment is not set in stone, so
at any time the student athlete or college can withdraw from the agreement. When the student athlete
commits to attend a NCAA Division I, II, or III school, he or she signs a National Letter of Intent,
agreeing to attend that school for one academic year (NCAA Recruiting, 2015). These general

Communication Apprehension And Learning Styles
I, am a very private person, as well as a student. As students we are faced with the ever present threat
of teachers who call on us even when our heads are down taking notes and our hands are not raised.
As a student and a very private person I have come to detest these occurrences. However while doing
some research I came across an article written by Dr. Travis L. Russ professor of Communications and
Media Management at Fordham University in New York about communication apprehension and
learning styles. In this article Dr. Russ says that there is a coloration between people with high
communication apprehension and learning better from reflective work and thinking, while people with
a lower amount of communication apprehension prefer to do direct experiments (Russ, 2012). When I
share things that I am thinking there is usually a long pause in between the questions asked and my
answer, which is caused by me making sure that what I say is not especially revealing towards my
inner thoughts. When I was in Advanced Public Speaking the hardest presentation for me to give was
the speech of introduction. I hate doing those even if I am just sitting down at a desk posting a
recording of it I still get extremely anxious over what I have said, what if I offend someone? did that
sound too harsh? I hope they don t think I m weird. These things are a constant when I am preparing

Questions and Answers on Criminal Procedure
1. Does the information included in the warrant application amount to Probable Cause? Why or why
not? Probably not. This would be defined as an anticipatory search warrant, but the information
provided by the confidential informant includes statements that are mostly vague: Dory was planning
to sell Golden Starfish within an open ended date, she probably will deliver the stolen merchandise at
some point, and she usually rents a room at the specific hotel named. None of this qualifies as reliable
recent information as to criminal activity; as for proposed or future criminal activity, there are not
sufficient facts here to indicate an event that would be sufficient to qualify as a triggering condition .
According to the US Supreme Court s decision in U.S. v Grubbs (2006), what is required in an
anticipatory search warrant is a triggering condition that would permit the execution of the warrant on
the fair probability that contraband would be discovered if the search were executed no such condition
appears to be included here, when the best that is offered for a triggering condition is that Dory has
rented a room. The fact that the detective overheard mention of the Golden Starfish through the door is
irrelevant to the establishment of probable cause for the warrant, though. 2. Of what significance, if
any, is the two week period for serving the warrant? Ordinarily a search warrant cannot be served if
stale information is included in the search warrant

Hemorrhagic shock results from a life threatening loss of blood and leads to tissue ischemia and
insufficient evacuation of cellular metabolic degradation products. Mortality is linked directly to
massive blood loss or occurs indirectly due to secondary multiple organ failure. In particular, loss of

Current guidelines for nonsurgical treatment of hemorrhagic shock recommend rapid volume

controversial because aggressive restoration of intravascular volume with a rapid increase in blood

The Canadian Guidelines For Sexual Education
Sexual education is an important topic which as to be addressed due to the growing debates as to
weather it should be implemented within the school system. The Canadian Guidelines for Sexual
Health Education states that sexual education curriculums addresses a range of topics including
puberty, effective contraceptive methods, prevention of STI/HIV, communication skills, sexual
orientation, interpersonal relationships, and media literacy (Public Health Agency of Canada).
Children need to address such issues early in order to protect them from early initiation of sexual
activity, sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy. The issue is then weather or not parents
support such a program. A historical factor affecting sexual health education (SHE) is how it affects
those strongly rooted in religion. Canadian education is divided between non secular schools and
denominational separate schools (usually Catholic). Canada is a largely Catholic country, with 67% of
the population describing themselves as Roman Catholics in the 2011 Census (NHS, 2011). In Ontario
alone, Card, 2010 found that, as of 2003, there were 31 public school boards in the province (with an
average enrollment of 44,000 students) and 29 separate school boards (with an average enrollment of
18,000). The provincial Ministry of Education mandates the type of instruction that sexual health
education provides, for both public and separate school boards. Mckay, 2014 found that within

Abortion, when the topic comes up, it is usually something people do not like to discuss. People may
tend to avoid this issue for fear of offending or angering others but it is extremely important that the
horrors of this brutal practice be addressed. During the years 1965 1996 over 515 million babies have
been murdered, this is if you add the number of chemical and surgical abortions
(www.rockforlife.org). This is what we need to understand: abortion kills and we need to know where
it came from.
The legalization of abortion started in Mississippi in the year 1966; it was used in the cases of rape.

Abortion is not painless for the mother either. Over ninety seven percent of women have reported

Be Nobody s Darling Self Identity Essay
The poems Be Nobody s Darling by Alice Walker and Williams Ernest Henley s Invictus cover the
same main topic of self identity, but each portrays self identity in a different way. In Be Nobody s
Darling , the narrator is telling the reader to go against society, to be an outcast , or to not follow the
crowd, but to go in the opposite direction. The narrator says to take the contradictions of your life, and
wrap around you like a shawl which is saying to turn bad scenarios into good ones. The main meaning
for this poem in my opinion is to show that the reader doesn t have to follow the trends, and if they
don t that isn t bad. In the poem Invictus self identity is shown as a determined individual who won t

Nature And Culture, Humans And Non-Human Dualism
Nature and culture and humans and non human dualism are first and foremost produced by the
modern knowledge production and particularly echoed by the humanistic perspective where greater
focus and attention is given to the humans over other beings. This intentional and unintentional act of
duality created, I argue, has become immaterial with the appearance of the posthumanistic perspective.
First and foremost, with the current development in the field of biotechnology, the increased
dependence on machines for various purposes, the multiplication of hybrid substances for diverse
purposes, coupled with many more happenings in the contemporary times suggest that our life is
interwoven with all manner of non humans and it will be impossible to uniquely separate humans
from non humans (Anderson, 2013). The two entities are inseparable and based on this premise of
inseparability between the humans and non humans, nature and culture, it suffices to say that, though
some of the arguments raised by the humanistic perspective are valid, the overarching supremacy
accorded to humans and its consciousness over other non humans are far fetched and immaterial. As
aptly put by Jones, and somewhat understandably, humans tend to think of themselves and their
societies as rather different to nature, and rather special (2009, p.7) in the face of complement roles
performed by both.
Secondly, the human and non human and nature culture dualism has become immaterial because as

Gallup Summary
Gallup, New Mexico, is a border town just outside the Navajo Nation reservation with an estimated
22,000 residents; however, that number nearly triples on the first of the month. Social Security checks
are distributed to elders and veterans on the first of the month, and most tribal members have neither
access to a local bank nor sufficient consumer spending options on the reservation. Therefore, most
Navajos end up driving for an hour or more to purchase much needed groceries, lumber, auto parts,
and kid s school clothes in border towns such as Gallup. According to the University of New Mexico
Bureau of Business and Economic Analysis study, significant competition for retail dollars from the
Navajo Nation is spread among several surrounding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, having so few employers and jobs available in Indian Country leads to high unemployment
rates. And, third, the absences of thriving economies, characterized by a sufficient number of privately
and publically owned businesses in Indian Country, adds to the impoverishment of Indians and their
families.
Although the trust land issue is not specifically emphasized by Miller, this article focuses on trust land
as a primary impediment for entrepreneurs who want to start up small businesses or pursue
entrepreneurial endeavors on the Navajo reservation. Because Navajo land is held in trust, the United
States government has legal ownership of the land, and tribes and individual Indians are merely
beneficial owners. Selling and leasing Navajo land, even for community development, must be
approved by the United States. In his article, Ending the Curse of Trust, noted tribal entrepreneur
Lance Morgan says:
Trust status hurts individual American Indians. It prevents us from using our land as collateral, which
has effectively killed Native owned agriculture. [*181] This system left us with almost no choice but
to lease out our land, primarily to non Indians. That s why we are land rich, but still dirt

Descriptive Essay On Chicago Basketball Game
Last night I made the 65 minute trip to Mechanicsburg, Ohio to take in the division six ,region 24
playoff game, between undefeated Mechanicsburg(10 0) and 7 3 Miami East. This was my first time
seeing Miami East play. I was hoping to see a battle for four quarters, but felt the home team was
going to be moving to week twelve.
This one started out strangely, when Kaleb Romero, the Indians quarterback was picked off on the
games third play, but a big hit on the Miami East player resulted in a fumble, that the Indians
recovered.
After getting a fresh start with the ball Romero was sacked by, Logan West, with 9:34 left on the
quarter. West would have his number called several times as this game went on. At 6 6,234 pounds, he

Romero connected with Atchison, for a twenty nine yard gain, with 7:40 left in the game. That combo
looked like it could be super dangerous, if the need was there.MASCADRI would walk in from three
yards out to make this a 38 0 game. The point after kick was good to increase the Indians lead to,39
0,with 5:33 left.
The gentleman setting next to me had told me the JV team from Miami East was undefeated and had
been since biddy league. Well when they came onto the field for the teams final drive, you did not
know if they knew this was a,39 0 game. Because they easily moved the ball twenty one yards for
their teams first score, with Freshman Kaleb scoring from two yards out to end the game.
The Vikings had recovered a fumble to set up the score as the Vikings never did stop trying in this
one.

Value Of Human Life
The root of the problems that this generation is facing is centered around the value of human life and
enjoyment over all else. This self centered way of life has shaped the way that decisions are made, and
subsequently has negatively impacted the environment, nature as a whole. When major developments
impact the surrounding nature, living or nonliving, the nature s value is diminished and cannot be
regained fully, even if the developments are removed completely. If decisions are made with respectful
consideration toward the value of the nature that will be impacted and undoubtedly lost, there would
be less destruction of naturally valuable areas and organisms. However, this consideration must be
accompanied by action, for as Ed Abbey says in the film DamNation, Sentiment without action is the
ruin of the soul, meaning that thoughts and beliefs are nothing without action, and thoughts and beliefs
that are worth nothing are the demise of the human mind. A balance between the value of natural
features and human desire must be found while changing the environment, and checked consistently
during the human made feature s existence.
The intersection between nature and people is an interesting one that ought to be thought about in
careful, unique ways. The intersection cannot be forgotten, even when rational thought leads to rash
decisions. No decision regarding the change of the Earth s natural features, whether those be living or
nonliving, can be made without the

Long Walk To Water
People find their purpose through struggle. Take Salva Dut from A Long Walk to Water as an example.
At the early age of eleven, he was separated from his family during a school shooting, later leading
over fifteen hundred young boys across the Southern Sudan desert as teenager. In the documentary On
the Way to School, a prime example would be young Jackson Saikong. Every school day, he would
have to lead his sister on a nine mile journey, racing past aggressive elephants at only the age of ten.
From Linda Sue Park s A Long Walk to Water to the documentary On the Way to School, many of the
characters featured show strong motivation toward their struggle, not wanting for it to be meaningless

Hypocrisy In To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
Hypocrisy in To Kill a Mockingbird In her coming of age novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
explores how the precocious protagonist, Jean Louise Scout Finch, struggles to fit into her role as a
lady and has a difficult time coming to terms of the cruelty as well as the injustice her Southern town
displays through discrimination. Scout resides with her family in Maycomb County, Alabama in the
1930s a town severely divided by color. She goes through a breathtaking metamorphosis throughout
the novel when her father Atticus defends a Negro man accused of rape, exposing her to the true roots
of human behavior. Through the use of settings, characterization, and ironies, Lee implies that
hypocrisy is a tragic act to be involved in; it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another hypocritical scene occurs in the novel when the people of Maycomb make untrue judgements
about the Radley Place and its inhabitants. For instance, Scout states, The shutters and doors of the
Radley house were closed on Sundays, another thing alien to Maycomb s ways: closed doors meant
illness and cold weather only (11). It is duplicitous of the townspeople to scrutinize the Radleys based
solely on town gossip and the appearance of their home. The Radley home is intentionally used as an
excuse by the townspeople to isolate the Radleys since their way of living is not considered normal in
their eyes. Overall, numerous reasons can be found why people tend to be hypocritical; it is evident as
to why many possess this quality in Maycomb. Lee uses characterization, a crucial literary device, to
display to readers the lethal effects of hypocrisy in society. As Miss Maudie said, Mockingbirds don t
do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in
corncribs, they don t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That s why it s a sin to kill a
mockingbird (119). Despite his innocence and role of a mockingbird, Tom was condemned guilty of
rape and shot 17 times. Mayella herself believes in beauty in an ugly world yet her heinous actions
caused her to be a part of that ugliness. Humans often appear to be hypocritical when they attempt to
prove a point, yet their behavior

Campus Shootings Essay
College Campuses in the Line of Sight
We all hear about mass shooting where a number of people are killed and we pray that we are never
caught in a situation like the one at Virginia Tech or Oikos University. But the likelihood that it
happens at your school, your kids school, or your friends school is at an all time high. From 2000 to
2010 nearly 70 people were killed in college campus shootings in the United States. This number
more than doubles the number of killing from the 25 years prior to 2000. Not only are their more
shooting but there are a proliferating number of sexual assaults happening on college campuses, in
2009 alone the number of sexual assault on college campuses was nearly 2,600 (Arrigo 120). This
combined with mass media coverage has generated passionate debates on how to best stop mass
shootings and other violent crimes on college campuses. Many pro gun activists have started to push
for and endorse bills allowing students and faculty to conceal carry handguns on campuses. Campus
carry is a relatively new phenomenon and there is little to no evidence to corroborate the idea that it
increases campus security. Those who have not gone through rigorous instructional courses, like
police officers, will be unable to stop a mass shooting, sexual assaults, or other violent crimes on
college campuses. Instead, allowing students to carry will increase crime rates on campuses and will
result in more fatalities due to guns(Ultius). This is why students should not be

Introduction
Christians share a common given goal, which is to make the name of God known throughout the
world, to every nation, tribe and tongue. The Great Commission given by Jesus is the fuel and the
reason Christ s followers risk all for the sake of God s name. God will continue to sponsor and support
His people until the work is complete.
Koreans in North Korea form one group of unreached people. People Groups website defines a
unreached people group as one where there is no indigenous community of believing Christians able
to engage this people group with church planting. The inability of church planting amongst this people
group and the persecution of Christians in this country creates a major challenge to the spreading of
Christianity.

The Differences Between an Associate Degree Nurse and...
The Differences Between an Associate Degree Nurse and Bachelor Degree Nurse
Associate Degree versus Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Throughout history, a nurse has been defined as a person caring for the sick (Merriam Webster, Inc.,
2004, p. 853). At the completion of school, whether from an Associate Degree in Applied Science or a
Bachelor of Science Degree, all candidates must pass the national licensure exam. This enables the
new graduate nurse to practice as a registered nurse. This new R.N. graduate is permitted to work in
health care facilities in entry level positions. Both begin their career similarly with an extended
orientation period being mentored by a seasoned colleague. Orientation is a probation period which

This focus is adapted to primarily prepare the ADN student for more day to day nursing activities. In
1952, Mildred Montag, in response to the nursing shortage, designed a program to counter the college
level nursing programs. An associate degree was the end result. (Haase, 2006, p. 1)
To answer the question posed: Is the nursing education level a contributing issue in the deliverance of
quality care and patient safety? The American Association of Colleges of Nursing believes that
baccalaureate prepared nurses like other health care providers, practice at a higher level. Nurses
processing a Bachelor s Degree are molded to adapt to the changing health care environment and its
demands. This can be accomplished by leadership development, as well as critical thinking
emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention across all environments of care . (American
Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2012, p. 1)
With the health care system changing so rapidly, it is important that nurses are autonomous. It is
necessary, as patient advocates, that we understand the cause and effect of all entities involving our
patients. Critical thinking and making the correct judgment call clinically is vital. A patient situation
which comes to mind is an 86 year old female, weighing 50kg, Vital Signs: Blood Pressure: 80/50,
Heart Rate: 102 (Sinus Tachycardia), Respirations:

Great Recession
During the great recession era that began in late 2007 and lasted until mid 2009, the labor market took
a major loss. The reasons that caused the labor market to plummet during this time frame were due to
unemployment, a decrease in income and lack of education. Despite the efforts from the government
to help as much as possible, the labor market had taken the worst hit and was at its lowest since the
last three decades. It is important for everyone to understand what a weak labor market can result in.
In this paper, I will discuss these findings and what impact they had on the labor market to weaken it
to such a low point. Before entering into details about these findings, I would like to provide some
information about the labor market. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unemployment, the decrease in income and lack of education are all correlated with one another and
were the major things that weakened the labor market during the great recession. The lack of
education during this time resulted in many individuals to lose their jobs. Unemployment being at all
time high caused many individuals to go back to school so they could find jobs. When people were
unemployed, their household income declined as well. Inflation played a major role in unemployment;
employers could not keep workers due to the cost of business going up, so they let go of the workers
that did not have an education or low skill

Elderly Abuse
As our population ages there are more individuals who are relying on the assistance and the care from
others in order to perform tasks throughout their day. With this reliance on other individual s
assistance the elderly population is at an increased rate of experiencing a form of abuse from their
caregiver. Children or a spouse are often found to be the abuser for elderly individuals who are still
living in the community setting (DeLiema, Navarro, Enguidanos, Wilber, 2015). This is becoming a
growing concern, as it is estimated that around 10% of the United States elderly population is
currently or has experiences at least one form of abuse. The forms of abuse that can occur include
physical, sexual, psychological or emotional, financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The report of elder abuse is no exception. Though it may be more difficult to get an actual statement
of abuse from an older adult, possibly due to their loved one or care giver being present, there are
ways for nurses to give patients a chance to report the abuse. For example, conducting a discussion of
the patient s health history in private, including safety questions and questions concerning abuse, may
help the patient be more willing to report any type of abuse they are facing. Asking questions such as,
Are you in a relationship where you feel unsafe? or, Are you in a relationship where you are being
harmed by someone? gives these patients a chance to report the abuse without pressuring them to
come out and say it on their own (Daly et al., 2012). Also, giving them the opportunity to just simply
say yes or no to these questions helps nurses determine whether further assessment is necessary.
However, it is also the nurse s responsibility to determine the risk factors for abuse, and recognize the
signs of elder abuse in their patients. Some of these signs can include; malnourishment, bruising or
other marks on the skin, burns on areas outside of the patients reach, and not being able to explain
how a certain injury occurred. It is important however that the nurse does not appear overpowering to
the other adult as an injury may not be a result of abuse but is the result of normal aging or effect of a

  • 3. Voyage To America Research Paper The voyage to America for the servants was a horrible journey. Servants were packed in boats with little to no space. An individual would be given 2 feet width and 6 feet length to sleep in, but boats were usually overloaded with hundreds of servants including tools, provision and other items that took up space. Packed in space, fewer boats servants were carried to England from Holland. This journey usually took two to four weeks depending on the winds. If winds were good, the journey would take eight days or sooner to arrive. Servants were allowed to take their money, but were forced to waste it all to purchase goods but they still ended starving. Once the ships arrived in England the voyage began to Philadelphia. The duration of this voyage also consisted of what types of winds there were. If winds were good, the voyage took up to eight to 12 weeks. During these voyages, people suffered terrible misery, horror, vomiting, cancer, and other sicknesses which caused many servants to die. Young children from infants to the age of seven served the voyage, although most of the children were thrown into the sea for their parents saw no future or peace on earth for them. The connection among the societies gets stronger when people have sex with a person of their choice. Community is achieved by systemizing life so that one is almost never alone. The people of the Brave New World are controlled by a Controller known as Mustapha Mond in order to achieve Community. Community is in part a result of identity and stability (Pearce, 1998). Every child lives together without any parents and is conditioned to feel and think the same way as others and to fear and have the same likes and dislikes, as well as the similar beliefs as the other residents of the New World. Community is also achieved through a religion that satirizes Christianity. In relation to this religion, the elder residents of the New World are urged to participate in the Solidarity Service which includes community sing that one has to attend about once a week which makes everyone feel connected. Solitude and loneliness does not exist in Brave New World because everyone often entertains each other. Every caste benefits each other, fulfilling the idea of Community. Employee Compensation And Benefits Packages Essay Introduction In today s competitive workforce, compensation and benefit packages plays a crucial role on recruitment and retention for both the organization and the employee. Bumpbie finds itself in a situation where it could positively affect its employee s morale, turnover rate and longevity; by making a strategic decision to implement compensation and benefit packages that will encourage current workers to stay and entice new applicants. Money is not always the inherent reason businesses experience high turnover rate, the constant shifting in the job market will always be a contributing factor as well as employee s moral. Mayhew, R. (2016), explains that an employee compensation plan refers to all the components offered as well as the way in which they are paid, and the reason behind the employees getting the compensation case bonuses, salary increases and incentives. The fact that there are voluntary and mandatory benefits that organization provides to their employees give employees the freedom of choice, as well as the option to make the whether to stay with or leave an organization based on the benefits it provides. • 7. Analysis of Gilberto M. Llanto and Marife M. Ballesteros’s... The effects of Land issues to poverty The Philippines has always been an agricultural country. This can be an effect of the country s tropical weather. According to the World Bank, in 2009, the country has 40% of agricultural land area. The country s economy has been dependent on agricultural production. The country s agriculture sector is made up of 4 sub sectors: farming, fisheries, livestock, and forestry, which together employ 39.8 percent of the labor force and contribute 20 percent of GDP. Farmers work under the sun s heat in order to feed the mouths of not only their families who are under poverty but also the millions of Filipinos. Land issues have always been a problem in the country. There would still be numerous reports on killings because of undistributed land. There would always be problems on housing loans and grants from the government. In effect, our Filipino farmers would still work under the same landowners and would be deprived of developing their own lives. In Gilberto M. Llanto and Marife M. Ballesteros s article, Land Issues in Poverty Reduction Strategies and the Development Agenda: Philippines , it shows how land problems in the country can affect the alleviation of poverty. According to the author, there are five critical land issues. These are the following: (1) unclear and inconsistent land policies; (2) inefficient land administration infrastructure; (3) highly politicized land tax system; (4) inefficient agrarian reform program; ... There are gray ashes rising from the crematorium and these are the only remains of the dead. The cattle car has just reached the Auschwitz station and the officers are preparing for a new batch of Jews. This scene shows the transition between the present and future. Furthermore, it illustrates what the victims of the Holocaust had to lose and endure for several years during the Great War. This scene (selection 2) illustrates an important twist in the beginning of the novel I have incorporated many presentation techniques to further enhance my diorama. For example, my presentation uses many literary devices such as mood, juxtapositions, allusions, imagery and symbols. On the stage, there are two different scenes. NCAA Recruiting Issues Once the proposal was shown, the NCAA council and the committee made all necessary changes; they were then able to call for a special convention that same year in 1973 (Katz Seifried 2014). This time, Sherman proposed three legislative and three competitive divisions (Katz Seifried 2014). As students we are faced with the ever present threat of teachers who call on us even when our heads are down taking notes and our hands are not raised. As a student and a very private person I have come to detest these occurrences. However while doing some research I came across an article written by Dr. Travis L. Russ professor of Communications and Media Management at Fordham University in New York about communication apprehension and learning styles. In this article Dr. Russ says that there is a coloration between people with high communication apprehension and learning better from reflective work and thinking, while people with a lower amount of communication apprehension prefer to do direct experiments (Russ, 2012). When I share things that I am thinking there is usually a long pause in between the questions asked and my answer, which is caused by me making sure that what I say is not especially revealing towards my inner thoughts. When I was in Advanced Public Speaking the hardest presentation for me to give was the speech of introduction. I hate doing those even if I am just sitting down at a desk posting a recording of it I still get extremely anxious over what I have said, what if I offend someone? did that sound too harsh? This would be defined as an anticipatory search warrant, but the information provided by the confidential informant includes statements that are mostly vague: Dory was planning to sell Golden Starfish within an open ended date, she probably will deliver the stolen merchandise at some point, and she usually rents a room at the specific hotel named. None of this qualifies as reliable recent information as to criminal activity; as for proposed or future criminal activity, there are not sufficient facts here to indicate an event that would be sufficient to qualify as a triggering condition . According to the US Supreme Court s decision in U.S. v Grubbs (2006), what is required in an anticipatory search warrant is a triggering condition that would permit the execution of the warrant on the fair probability that contraband would be discovered if the search were executed no such condition appears to be included here, when the best that is offered for a triggering condition is that Dory has rented a room. The fact that the detective overheard mention of the Golden Starfish through the door is irrelevant to the establishment of probable cause for the warrant, though. 2. Of what significance, if any, is the two week period for serving the warrant? Ordinarily a search warrant cannot be served if stale information is included in the search warrant ... • 17. The Canadian Guidelines For Sexual Education Sexual education is an important topic which as to be addressed due to the growing debates as to weather it should be implemented within the school system. The Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education states that sexual education curriculums addresses a range of topics including puberty, effective contraceptive methods, prevention of STI/HIV, communication skills, sexual orientation, interpersonal relationships, and media literacy (Public Health Agency of Canada). Children need to address such issues early in order to protect them from early initiation of sexual activity, sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy. The issue is then weather or not parents support such a program. A historical factor affecting sexual health education (SHE) is how it affects those strongly rooted in religion. Canadian education is divided between non secular schools and denominational separate schools (usually Catholic). Canada is a largely Catholic country, with 67% of the population describing themselves as Roman Catholics in the 2011 Census (NHS, 2011). In Ontario alone, Card, 2010 found that, as of 2003, there were 31 public school boards in the province (with an average enrollment of 44,000 students) and 29 separate school boards (with an average enrollment of 18,000). The provincial Ministry of Education mandates the type of instruction that sexual health education provides, for both public and separate school boards. Be Nobody s Darling Self Identity Essay The poems Be Nobody s Darling by Alice Walker and Williams Ernest Henley s Invictus cover the same main topic of self identity, but each portrays self identity in a different way. In Be Nobody s Darling , the narrator is telling the reader to go against society, to be an outcast , or to not follow the crowd, but to go in the opposite direction. The narrator says to take the contradictions of your life, and wrap around you like a shawl which is saying to turn bad scenarios into good ones. The main meaning for this poem in my opinion is to show that the reader doesn t have to follow the trends, and if they don t that isn t bad. • 24. Nature And Culture, Humans And Non-Human Dualism Nature and culture and humans and non human dualism are first and foremost produced by the modern knowledge production and particularly echoed by the humanistic perspective where greater focus and attention is given to the humans over other beings. This intentional and unintentional act of duality created, I argue, has become immaterial with the appearance of the posthumanistic perspective. First and foremost, with the current development in the field of biotechnology, the increased dependence on machines for various purposes, the multiplication of hybrid substances for diverse purposes, coupled with many more happenings in the contemporary times suggest that our life is interwoven with all manner of non humans and it will be impossible to uniquely separate humans from non humans (Anderson, 2013). The two entities are inseparable and based on this premise of inseparability between the humans and non humans, nature and culture, it suffices to say that, though some of the arguments raised by the humanistic perspective are valid, the overarching supremacy accorded to humans and its consciousness over other non humans are far fetched and immaterial. As aptly put by Jones, and somewhat understandably, humans tend to think of themselves and their societies as rather different to nature, and rather special (2009, p.7) in the face of complement roles performed by both. Secondly, the human and non human and nature culture dualism has become immaterial because as Latour states the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Value Of Human Life The root of the problems that this generation is facing is centered around the value of human life and enjoyment over all else. This self centered way of life has shaped the way that decisions are made, and subsequently has negatively impacted the environment, nature as a whole. When major developments impact the surrounding nature, living or nonliving, the nature s value is diminished and cannot be regained fully, even if the developments are removed completely. If decisions are made with respectful consideration toward the value of the nature that will be impacted and undoubtedly lost, there would be less destruction of naturally valuable areas and organisms. However, this consideration must be accompanied by action, for as Ed Abbey says in the film DamNation, Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul, meaning that thoughts and beliefs are nothing without action, and thoughts and beliefs that are worth nothing are the demise of the human mind. A balance between the value of natural features and human desire must be found while changing the environment, and checked consistently during the human made feature s existence. The intersection between nature and people is an interesting one that ought to be thought about in careful, unique ways. Scout resides with her family in Maycomb County, Alabama in the 1930s a town severely divided by color. For instance, Scout states, The shutters and doors of the Radley house were closed on Sundays, another thing alien to Maycomb s ways: closed doors meant illness and cold weather only (11). It is duplicitous of the townspeople to scrutinize the Radleys based solely on town gossip and the appearance of their home. The Radley home is intentionally used as an excuse by the townspeople to isolate the Radleys since their way of living is not considered normal in their eyes. Overall, numerous reasons can be found why people tend to be hypocritical; it is evident as to why many possess this quality in Maycomb. Lee uses characterization, a crucial literary device, to display to readers the lethal effects of hypocrisy in society. As Miss Maudie said, Mockingbirds don t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in corncribs, they don t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That s why it s a sin to kill a mockingbird (119). But the likelihood that it happens at your school, your kids school, or your friends school is at an all time high. From 2000 to 2010 nearly 70 people were killed in college campus shootings in the United States. This number more than doubles the number of killing from the 25 years prior to 2000. Not only are their more shooting but there are a proliferating number of sexual assaults happening on college campuses, in 2009 alone the number of sexual assault on college campuses was nearly 2,600 (Arrigo 120). This combined with mass media coverage has generated passionate debates on how to best stop mass shootings and other violent crimes on college campuses. Many pro gun activists have started to push for and endorse bills allowing students and faculty to conceal carry handguns on campuses. Campus carry is a relatively new phenomenon and there is little to no evidence to corroborate the idea that it increases campus security. Those who have not gone through rigorous instructional courses, like police officers, will be unable to stop a mass shooting, sexual assaults, or other violent crimes on college campuses. For example, conducting a discussion of the patient s health history in private, including safety questions and questions concerning abuse, may help the patient be more willing to report any type of abuse they are facing. Asking questions such as, Are you in a relationship where you feel unsafe? or, Are you in a relationship where you are being harmed by someone? gives these patients a chance to report the abuse without pressuring them to come out and say it on their own (Daly et al., 2012).
