Analysis of the Amended Family and Medical Leave Act Essay
On August 5, 1993 the amended Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA), was intended to
help employees have a work life balance. This accomplishment placed the United Stated ahead of
major barriers for the fair labor laws. Before having the amended FMLA put into place, employees
were rarely granted job protection for caring for newborns, relatives and personal medical illness.
With the new amended act, it allowed employees to take a leave of absence from their job and allowed
protection from being fired or having to take a reduced work scheduled by force from the company.
Initially, the bill had been introduced to Congress session for the past nine years and had been vetoed
twice by President George H.W. Bush, although, in the 1988 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Business Affects FMLA affects employers in many ways, such as monitoring leaves of absence,
coordinating benefits for employees, record keeping and return to work conditions. FMLA affects
employers in terms of ensuring compensation, and benefits specialists are well versed in the
application of FMLA regulations to individual employee circumstances. Employers are affected also
by FMLA but not replacing the employee or giving the employee an alternative position with the
strong intentions of discouraging them from taking the leave. If the employer fails to comply, there are
strict consequences and possible lawsuits. Another discouragement that affected for the employers
were that they had to continue providing group health insurance to the employee while on leave. The
FMLA can have a negative impact on both small and large employers due to the law s regulatory and
administrative complexity (Leonard, 2000). FMLA created a sense of burden for employers and their
management team, as they were responsible in finding suitable replacements to fill in for employees
who are out on FMLA leave. This would have eventually slowed down the employer s productivity
causing profit losses, which employer s do not want to see happen.

Consequences And Symbolism In John Updike s A P
In A P , the author John Updike utilizes symbolism, point of view, setting, and imagery to convey the
message of choices and consequences in Sammy s life. The protagonist, Sammy, makes immature
decisions that he believes that s what adults do. But what he thinks is an act of courage and chivalry
doesn t catch Queenie and her friends attention, but he still facing the consequences of his child like
behavior. Throughout the story the author John Updike depicts Sammy s character as someone
judgmental towards other people. Such as his co workers, customers and even family. He s constantly
judging others, whether it be their looks or their way of being; She s one of those cash register
watchers, a witch about fifty with rouge on her cheekbones and no eyebrows... . Implying that this
woman has nothing better to do with her daily life than to be there to bother him. In addition, Sammy
also refers to one of his coworker s attitude towards the girls. Sammy seems to be criticizing them;
forgetting that he himself has been doing the same thing to the girls since they walked in the store. All
that was left for us to see was old McMahon patting his mouth and looking after them sizing up their
joints. He later goes on and says he s starting to feel sorry for the girls. Not realizing he was making
the same mistake as his coworker. Finally, Sammy is also very quick to judge the main girl Queenie to
be of a higher social class just based on how she speaks. Her voice kind of startled me,

The Origin Of The Egyptian Religion
Horus is one of the oldest and most meaningful deities in agent Egyptian religion. He was worshiped
through the late predynastic period and through the Greco Roman times. From as far back as we know
the Egyptians believed that Osiris was of divine origin, that he suffered death and mutilation at the
hands of evil, and after a great struggle with these powers he rose again, that he then became the king
of the underworld and judge of the dead, and because he had conquered death the honorable also
might conquer death (Horus of Edfu). There is so much that we have learned about Horus, from who
he was before he was a God, to who he symbolizes, and the different ways of representation. Horus s
mother was the Goddess Isis and his father was Osiris. Isis fled from Set to give birth to Horus safely,
knowing Set would want to kill Horus as he already killed Osiris. Horus then became Set s enemy,
eventually defeating Set, thus avenging his father and assuming the rule. Horus emerged as a local god
in many places and with different names. Some of the names were Harmakhis Horus in the Horizon ,
Harpocrates Horus the Child and, Harsiesis Horus, Son of Isis (Horus, Encyclopedia). Horus became
the universal name for many different gods associated with falcons. From the 1st dynasty onward,
Horus and the god Set were presented as perpetual antagonists who were reconciled in the harmony of
Upper and Lower Egypt. Featured as a royal man with the head of a falcon or hawk, Horus often holds

Persuasive Essay On Weight Class
key points
Unless you are weighing a pride for life, the fastest way to increase your competence in power lifting
is to get fat leaner if you lose.
After that, you should strive to get into the greatest weight class that you can achieve while
maintaining a good body structure.
When you go up to weight classes, it may be less competitive for you for one or two years while
acquiring muscle but in general a weight class will be more competitive in heavy in the long run.
Most people should not depend on water cut to make weight, but if you cut water, you should not cut 2

However, if this response is not comfortable with you, I m not very surprised. It is often met with

Advantages And Cons Of AFTA Or Asean Free Trade Area
In ASEAN we used AFTA or Asean Free Trade Area. It is a trade bloc agreement by Association of
Southeast Asia Nation. Under AFTA, there are six countries of Association of Southeast Asian Nation
(ASEAN) including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei, and Thailand are no tariffs
on approximately 8,000 product. Another four developed ASEAN nations will have further period to
phase in tariff cuts. In Asean we trade everything not only goods and services, but the citizen also can
go around these countries without visa and people can find job more easily. Because when the country
had opened for all members in ASEAN people can work in the proper ways not work illegal in other
ASEAN countries.
As a free trade area, members of ASEAN countries expect it to be more comfortable in the flow of
goods and services between ASEAN countries. Thailand had significant benefits from AFTA, because
in Thailand there are many manufacturing, and it is benefit from reduced the production. However, the
reduced tariffs have negatively impacted Thailand s agricultural sector due to a greater number of

Owls Vs Risers
The Merriam Webster defines sleep as the natural periodic suspension of consciousness during which
the powers of the body are restored. Although many people don t recognize the value of sleep, it is a
very essential part of life. There are many differences between a night owl and an early riser. Research
proves that there are many benefits as well as negative results to both sleeping habits. Unfortunately,
night owls are more likely to develop diabetes and other health issues like reduced muscles mass. In
contrast, early risers are destined to live a long healthy life. It is also proven to help sustain a healthier
diet when you wake up early. On the other hand night owls crave more food, and tend to binge eat.

Process Essay On How To Become A Genealogist
My family has a tradition where for every generation, we go out to Florida every summer. Genealogy
is the history of your family and the genes you inherit from your ancestors weither they are healthy,
helpful, or harmful. It is important because without genealogy, you and your family would cease to
exist in this world we live in. If you are looking for someone to show you how to become a
genealogist, I can help you out. To begin with, a genealogist should always find a process to use along
the way. You should talk with your family members and get as much information as you can out of
them. For example, I talked to my family and found out that my great, great grandma s name was
Elmer. After that, you should start a family tree with the information you just gathered. I used a tree
with four boxes with a line coming out of each leading to two boxes. That is an example of a mother, a
father, and up to four children. You can also use internet websites. For example, I went to a site called

out across the North American continent, most famously known for connecting the eastern part of the
U.S. railroads with the Pacific west coast area. The greater transcontinental railroad itself consists of
several railroads projects, the first of which were the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads, and
later, the Northern Pacific, Santa Fe, Great Northern, Texas and Pacific, and Western Pacific projects
would follow suite. All of were approved for construction shortly after the Civil War. Prior to the war

Government bonds were issued on a per mile for each twenty mile section of track completed. For the
plateau between the Rocky and Sierra Nevada Mountains the amount per mile was about $32,000 per

(Klein) (Gordon 217). It was very difficult to raise the needed capital as the majority of people in the
east viewed the west as, remote as the moon, its terrain alien and forbidding (Klein). The pioneers of
these projects knew it would take an immense amount of resources. It was very clear to both the
railroad companies and the government, there would not be profit for the construction of the railroad,
only after it is finished. The debt from these bonds had to be paid back, and the only way to do so was
through private investment. The appendix of this paper shows a news clipping of such an

The American Express ( Axp )
Background
In May 15 American Express (AXP) launched a coalition loyalty program called Plenti. Under
coalition loyalty programs, members can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating
merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and ATT.) The program helps consumers to earn rewards
faster and lead to a higher level of engagement with a program which provides merchants an
opportunity to attract new customers and run cross promotional campaigns. However, the biggest
challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an economic case for
shifting away from proprietary to collaborative program.
AXP was in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty program
(Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase within
their stores over next two weeks, while in Plenti program the points (1 point = 1 cents) are valid for
three years and can be redeemed at any participating merchant. Rite Aid was concerned that if they
joined Plenti, customers will continue to earn points at Rite Aid but with more redemption options and
longer validity, the redemptions will be skewed towards other merchants especially the Grocer Partner.
In effect, they will be subsidizing a loyalty program for the Grocer.
Challenge
As part of the negotiations, our team was tasked to identify and propose Performance Guarantees to
address Rite Aid s concerns.

Financial advisors have to persuade clients to trust them with their money in order to grow it and
spend it wisely. They use their analytical skills to best determine when to buy and sell products. The
goal of a financial advisor is to find a solution for their clients where their money will grow or where
clients will not out live their money. Financial advisors interact with their clients daily updating them
on the status of their wealth as well as talking to representatives from different companies about funds
to invest in. As more and more baby boomers retire, they need help planning out their wealth so that

Diction Analysis
Diction is the selection of words in a literary work. Diction conveys action, implies attitudes, develops
themes, suggests values, and reveals a character. Diction and contrasting imagery are really important
because they are what readers react and connect to. The Flowers , a short story by Alice Walker, is a
great example of diction at play. This short story uses contrasting imagery and diction to develop and
show meaning in the work. The contrasting imagery and diction convey meaning in Alice Walker s
short story, The Flowers because they show how the happy and good times shifted towards gloomy
and sad moments. Also, the contrasting imagery and diction identify the loss of childhood innocence
as a theme and they describe how Myop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The diction and contrasting imagery also conveys meaning to the text by showing a shift in the theme
of the work. In the beginning of the short story, diction and imagery played their role in conveying
Myop to be and innocent, young, and happy girl. Towards the middle, Myop was hinted to having an
altering innocence. Finally, the diction and contrasting imagery shatters Myop s life because it
portrays a loss of childhood innocence. Seeing the dead man changed the way she saw life. Instead of
grazing fields and golden surprises, she now saw an empty man with large, broken, white teeth, rotted
clothes, and his head spinning restlessly in the breeze. The word choice and imagery chosen to
describe this scene conveyed meaning to The Flowers because it revealed that Myop s character was
now experiencing a loss of innocence and that the happy and pleasant moments were completely gone.
The description and imagery used to describe the guy illustrates a horrific scene in the readers mind
and conveys that the story had just experienced a plot twist from peaceful times to depressing and
somber moments. There are many instances in which diction and contrasting imagery convey meaning
in The Flowers. The contrasting imagery sets the setting of the story and defines the way Myop sees
the world. The diction elaborates on the setting, reveals Myop s character, and illustrates her loss of
childhood innocence. The diction

Diversity Makes Good Business Case
According to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary, Diversity refers to variety in the field of
concern. However, Leopold, J. et al (2005) refers to managing diversity as a belief that all individual
differences should be valued and recognized. It is in this context that diversity has become center of
concern in most organizations. It is believed that employing a more diverse workforce could enhance
an organization s service or products to a wider range of clients or customers. It is also said that
diversity emphasizes for four main reasons, namely maximizing the resources available in the labour
market, maximizing the potential within the organization s workforce, creating business opportunities
through the employment of a diverse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that, those firms that are more heterogeneous, are likely to attract best employees regardless
of age, gender or ethnicity. Above all, firms that celebrate diversity, their work force is highly
expected to be more committed to the employers because of the recognition and valuing of individual
differences. To this context, cost associated with turnover and absenteeism will be reduced, Leopold,
et al (2005). This implies that diversity can provide an organization with competitive advantage. For
example a giant chemical firm DuPont, used input from African American work force to develop and
successfully market agricultural products for small farmers in the South, Fred Luthans, (2011). It is
reported that a multicultural team at DuPont enabled the firm to gain about forty five million Dollars
in a new business worldwide. Coca cola is another truly world brand which is readily identified by
consumers in virtually every country. With, this in mind, it can be agreed at a larger extent that
diversity makes good business case. However, employing a diverse work force can present conflicts of
interest and increase the complicity of managerial problem solving and decision making. Some
organizations reject employing women because they lack tenacity. It has been observed that when
deadlines are tight at work place managers need people who are willing to spend more, time at the
office, Luthans, (2011). However, firms that celebrate gender diversity at work place, have

The Effects Of Whitewashing In Hollywood
Given that the media is such a major part of how we see the world, it is important to dig deeper into
the message it often portrays. In this day, televisions and cellphones are staple devices in every
household, making it a simple and speedy platform to influence individuals of all demographics.
Hollywood in particular has all the potential to provide positive and true portrayals of Asian culture
through their work but they continue to do the exact opposite in order to please American viewership
which leads to the whitewashing of the material. Race is sadly a factor that goes into choosing the
right person for a role and this is where whitewashing comes into play as white actors are casted in
roles that were originally meant for non white actors. This can be seen in Hollywood as early as the
1920 s up to modern day America. This can have negative effects on our society and the way we view
each other due to misrepresentation and blatant disrespect towards cultures, however it can also bring
awareness and spark change due to the backlash it receives at the same time.
. The practice of whitewashing is extremely prevalent and has become somewhat of a tradition among
Hollywood s many works. Hollywood has a long history of whitewashing that dates back as early as
1919 in D.W. Griffith s film Broken Blossoms in which a white actor played the role of a Chinese
immigrant. Back then, whitewashing was overt and the roles were highly caricatured, especially in the
series of Charlie

Mute In An English Only World Summary
Immigrating and living in a new environment are always difficult. Especially when someone has to
speak an unfamiliar language most of the time since he or she arrives in the new country. However,
because of the remarkable progress on diversity and communication, learning new languages becomes
unnecessary to immigrants because they can live in the community with those who speak the same
language with them. The public organization such as court or hospital also have interpreter service, so
the immigrants aren t confused when they face issues. Therefore, it looks like learning few new

In this case, they have to learn and accept the local country and communicate with local people. That
is why they should learn a new language. In Mute in an English Only World , Lee shows us small,

because of language defection. As he said, his mother often encountered great difficulty whenever she
went out. One day, Lee s mother went to a butcher store to buy some fresh oxtails. However she could
not order the meat in English. Finally she came home with nothing. From this example, we can feel
how devastated Lee s mother was when she had disabilities and difficulties to communicate with the
butcher due to language inability. This is an appropriate example that shows the consequence of
disregarding the new language. The new languages are necessary in immigrants daily life. If Lee s
mother was having a medical emergency instead of buying meat, the new language might be the most
valuable solution to save her life. Local languages are necessary to immigrants while they get into

Comparison Of Paul Revere s Ride
Paul Revere was famous for the warning of british troops on April 18, 1775. Sadly, this is just a poem.
Paul Revere s Ride, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is a poem incorrectly depicting the events of the
fateful night. We ll look at the Belknap Letter, a letter written by Paul Revere himself depicting what
happened that night. We ll look at the similarities and differences to see how different these two
tellings of the night are and how Paul Revere was not a unique hero of the battle of Lexington. The
two do have their similarities. Both tell of the story of paul s midnight ride, but that s all well known.
The both aso tell of the lantern signals and how it was one lantern if the british went by land and to if
they went by sea.As said in Longfellow s poem, He said to his friend, if the British march by land or
sea from the town to night, hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a
signal light, one, if by land, one, as a signal. In both, they tell about how they went around the
colonies warning of the british attack, as said in Longfellow s poem through the night went his cry of
alarm to every Middlesex village and farm, a cry of defiance and not of fear, a voice in the darkness, a
knock at the door, and a word that shall echo forevermore! and in the Belknap letter In Medford, I
awaked the Captain of the minutemen; and after that, I told almost every house, till I got to Lexington.
I found Hancock and Adams at the Reverend Mr. Clark s. The two got the bare bones of the story
right. Despite all these similarities, there are many large differences between the two. The first is that
Paul Revere did much more than warn the people of the british. In the belknap letter it said Mr. Lowell
asked me to go to the tavern with him, to get a trunk of papers belonging to Mr. Hancock. We went up
to the tavern , and while we were getting the trunk, we saw the British very near, upon a full march.
We hurried towards Mr. Clark s house. In our way we passed through the American militia. There
were about fifty minutemen. When we had got about one hundred yards from the meeting house, the
British troops appeared on both sides of the meeting house. In their front

The Public Disclosure Of Information Essay
As per Lindblom, and Dowling, and Pfeffer, the public disclosure of information in spaces like the
annual reports can be made use of by a business to apply legitimation strategies i.e. to elevate the
legitimacy and reduce legitimacy gap. This principle has been adopted by several researchers across
the globe. Through Annual reports a firm can disclose information to offset any previous negative
news or provide information to relevant parties regarding positive features of the organization that was
not known beforehand, awards and recognitions received, initiatives executed etc. Even though such
disclosures might not necessarily mean there has been any real change brought about by the
organization, according to Ashforth and Gibbs (1990), the use of substantive management techniques
might require real, objective change in organizational goals, structures, and procedures and practices.
Consistent with the conclusions of Lindblom and Dowling, and Pfeffer, Hurt (1970) has deduced that
one of the primary functions of accounting as well as accounting reports, is to legitimate the existence
and operation of the business. Such views focus on the strategic nature of financial statements and
relevant disclosures.
Importance of Internal and External Accountability Effective accountability requires a statement of
goals, transparent decision making and relationships, and honest reporting of resource use and
achievements, which can emphasize the honesty and efficiency with which

A Plant Based Diet as a Prescriptive Measure: Should Health Care Providers Recommend A Vegan
Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic
Diseases?
David Arthur, MS, PA S
The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration
illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other cause.1 In
2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were responsible for
more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also referred to as
lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle choice as primary

Although students who work and do not work experience there stress levels differently and according
to the study more working college students experience more of a stress level then non working
students but the most interesting finding in this study is that working college students have a higher
grade point then the non working students (p.384). Suggestions as to why that were presented in the
article is that students who work and go to school full time have the ability to manage their time more
wisely then those who do not work (p.396 387). This data is again represented in another study that
was produced by Lang (2012) which clarifies that college students who work maintain a higher grade
point average then students who do not work (p.250). Another aspect that Lang s experiment clarifies
that more working students spend more time one their studies and working then they do with their
social lives (p.250). This is because students learn how to priorities and in order to priorities they have
to give up something in this case it is their social life. Learning how to prioritize students gain the

William Wordsworth s Lyrical Ballads
Imagine traveling down a gravel road in the countryside, set in England during the 19th Century. As
you continue your journey, you stumble across a woodland child and inquire about general questions.
Being inquisitive and intrigued by her fair beauty, queries regarding he family arise and soon you find
her concept of death skewed. We are Seven, composed by William Wordsworth and published in
Lyrical Ballads, is one of Wordsworth darker poems and unlike his characteristic Romantic style.
Wordsworth lost his mother at the tender age of eight, coincidentally, the same age as the cottage girl.
This poem stems from Wordsworth s personal experiences from when he journeyed across Europe
later in life and stumbled across a child near Goodrich Castle, whom is alleged to be the muse behind
this poem. The poem depicts the struggle the speaker faces as he tries to verbalize the truth over the
deceased cottage girl s brother and sister. The characterizations regarding the speaker s social class
and age in regards to his audience, the little girl, contribute to the colliding ideology during this
exchange. Wordsworth begins the scene of this poem with the master strolling down a road in the
countryside. The silence and loneliness of the poem breaks when the man comes across a little girl
frolicking alone. Before any words are exchanged, a description of the child is given, alluding to her
social standing among society. Described as having Her hair so thick with many a curl / That cluster

What Is A Positive Attitude Essay
When I go to a store and see the employees working at the store, I see they display a positive attitude
towards the customers. In some occasions I feel like I am not welcome at the store, or even any place
of the mater due to the fact that they sometimes do not display a positive attitude. I guess what I am
trying to say is that when you display a negative attitude the people around you feel uncomfortable.
No one likes a person who displays negative attitude because it is disrespectful to the people around
you, and it is bad for business if the person displaying bad attitude works somewhere. People think
that if you display a negative attitude that it is good for business because it tells the boss of the
business that you have competitiveness. Yes that is true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, I remember my first day at high school, and the first thing I wanted to do is meet new
people. In some cases in meeting new people I would be myself, but what if being myself is not a
good thing? Maybe I am a jerk when I am being myself, so that is why I must display a positive
attitude so I can make the people around me feel more comfortable. Then as they feel more
comfortable being around me, I can start being myself. Displaying a positive attitude to others can
help me in the long run because when I mess up on something the people that I have encouraged will
encourage me to do better and to never give up. Furthermore, displaying a positive attitude will show
the boss that you are customer friendly. For instance, I remember working at a store and I was helping
people putting their items in grocery bags. I was being so polite to the people I was helping with and
they liked my positive behavior, but what I did not know was that the boss saw my positive attitude

The fundamental nature of the ancient text Natya Shastra can be explained as a guide to the traditional
Hindu theatre. It describes Bharata Natyam key elements, such as; mudras, specific hand movements
and positions used to convey the stories, facial expressions, body movements and postures.
Additionally, explained in the Natya Shastra, the dancer must use emotions, known as rasas to convey
her story. There are eight basic rasas; love, humor, pathos, anger, heroism terror, disgust and wonder,
added later was serenity. Families and teachers who taught the devadasis, made a conscience effort to
continue the teachings of this dance for generations through oral tradition. Originally performed for
royalty and the wealthy, eventually devadasis, in some areas, were considered prostitutes and priests
were known as pimps. The devadasis reached an all time low when the British began colonization of
India toward the end of the nineteenth century. They were shocked to see women singing in dancing in
temples, with very little or no clothing. In 1927, temple dancing in India was banned. However, it
continued to survive, in 1934 Rukmini Devi decided to establish a school, Kalashektras, in Madras.
She paved the way for a more respectable dance movement. When the school was established,
Rukmini, changed the name from Sadir to Bharata Natyam, due to its negative history of being

The Actual Definition of Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is an exhilarating career with challenging requirements and great responsibility. The
actual definition of physical therapy is The treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use of
therapeutic exercise. The definition of Physical Therapist is A person who examines your injuries,
talks to you about your symptoms and progress, and helps you design and carry out your treatment
plan. They also provide services that help regain function, enhance movement, ease pain, and avert
permanent disability.
Physical Therapy is prominent in treating diseases and disabilities. Physical Therapy takes part in
treating heart and lung diseases, types of paralysis, and some muscle weaknesses. It helps stroke
victims recover to maximum strength in their condition. These are some of the many reasons that
physical therapists are needed now, and always will be. Physical therapists deal with many types of
people, with a limitless age range. They work with infants that are born prematurely, that have birth
defects, all the way to elderly people who have medical or other health issues. To make more
individualized treatment plans for everyone, they look at each person and develop a treatment
technique to promote healing and mobility. There is a countless variety of needs for physical therapy,
and that is how they determine which treatment is best for you. Everyday, 750,000 people need
physical therapy. Physical Therapists not only create the plans, they guide

Laminar Flow and Convective Heat Transfer of Water-Alumina...
Laminar flow and convective heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid inside horizontal annuli with a
streamwise moving inner cylinder are investigated theoretically. Employed model for alumina/water
nanofluid is the modified two component four equation non homogeneous equilibrium model that
fully accounts for the effects of nanoparticles volume fraction distribution. Aiming to consider the
effects of thermal boundary conditions on nanoparticles migration, two cases including constant heat
flux at the outer wall and insulated inner wall (Case A) and constant heat flux at the inner wall with
insulated outer wall (Case B) have been considered. The numerical results obtained indicated that the
thermal boundary conditions at the pipe walls are significantly affecting the nanoparticle volume
fraction distribution particularly in the cases where the ratio of Brownian motion to thermophoretic
diffusivities is small. Moreover, increasing the velocity of the moving inner cylinder reduce the heat
transfer rate for case A. In this case nanoparticles migration has negative effects on the performance of
the heat transfer system as it decreases the heat transfer rate. In contrast, in case B, movement of the
inner cylinder enhance the heat transfer rate and anomalous heat transfer enhancement take place
when the thermophoretic force is dominant (larger nanoparticles).
Nanoparticles volume fraction distribution developed under the mutual effects of thermophoretic and
Brownian motion forces.

Macbeth s Downfall
British politician William Pitt once said that [u]nlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those
who possess it; and this I know ... that where law ends, tyranny begins . Pitt s assertion is substantiated
by William Shakespeare s 17th century tragedy entitled Macbeth, where the protagonist Macbeth
commits unspeakable crimes in his pursuit of power, including the murders of many innocent people
such as King Duncan I of Scotland, Macduff s entire family, and his friend Banquo. Consequently,
Macbeth becomes paranoid and is ultimately slain by Macduff at the end of play. Macbeth s lust for
power leads him to his downfall as it causes him to slowly metamorphose from a courageous, loyal,
and noble general to a brutal, cruel and inhumane tyrant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This includes murdering his friend and ally Banquo, who has done Macbeth no harm, as well as
attempting to murder Banquo s innocent son Fleance. Macbeth killed Duncan in order to make himself
king of Scotland, but he fears that his felony will be futile in the long term if Banquo s descendants,
rather than his own, are destined to wear the crown. In order to prevent his worst fear from becoming
reality, Macbeth hires assassins to assassinate Banquo and his son Fleance, in an effort to prevent the
witches prophecies about Banquo from being fulfilled. Macbeth attempts to tamper with fate even
though fate is an inevitable course of events that is predetermined by God and is beyond human
control. Macbeth kills Banquo in order to satisfy his greed and, thus, he must pay the consequences
for his actions. Additionally, Macbeth developed hubris, believing that he is invincible and nobody can
slay him. Consequently, Macbeth s hubris slowly becomes his dominant character trait. This is evident
when Macbeth visits the witches at his own free will. After the witches give him the three apparitions,
Macbeth presumes that the witches apparitions can never come true and, therefore, he is invulnerable
(Shakespeare 4.1.104 105). Macbeth s hubris lingers to the very end of the play, even when he knows
that his defeat is inevitable. When Macbeth finally realizes the witches deception during his fight with
Macduff, Macduff suggests that Macbeth should capitulate. In turn, Macbeth replies, I will not yield,/
To kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet,/ And to be baited with the rabble s curse./ Though
Birnam wood be come to Dunsinane,/ And thou opposed, being of no woman born,/ Yet I will try the
last (Shakespeare 5.8.32 37). This quote bespeaks the magnitude of Macbeth s hubris. Macbeth
refuses to surrender to his enemies and demonstrates that his pride is so

The Holocaust and Nazi Germany
Introduction (150 words)
As a result of the Holocaust, a clear link can be made between Nazi racial ideologies and Hitler s
foreign policy. Firstly, Nazi ideologies were a fundamental facet to the Holocaust, as it included the
philosophies of who constituted as a Jew, and the consequent treatment of those diagnosed as Jews.
Secondly, Hitler s foreign policies were another significant aspect of the holocaust, as it was a
fundamental part in the construction of Hitler s ultimate goal. Thirdly, the foreign policy and racial
ideologies are revealed to be inextricably linked through the invasion of Poland in 1939. Fourthly it is
evident that these foreign policies and racial ideologies contributed to Germany s involvement in
World War Two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, as outlined in the Nazis racial ideologies, Hitler desire to reclaim ethnic Germans, or
Volksdeutsche back into the Reich who were living outside of Germany could not be achieved without
the extension of the Reich land, therefore making Poland a good target. Furthermore, Poland had over
3 million Jews, and of those 3 million, 2 million Jews came directly under Nazi rule, meaning
Germany could relocate those Jews, freeing up many houses for the relocated of the Volksdeutsche .
Thus, it is evident that the Nazis foreign policy had multiple incentives and were significant facets of
Hitler s ultimate goal.

had 3 million Jews, and one of the chief leaders who executed the treatment of Polish Jews after the

ethnic and racial Germans abroad, including the creation of settlement areas for them . As a result of

The newest and most recent of Larry Dossey s Eras is Era III which took shape in the 1990 s. Era III is

healing is not only on a physical level but a conscious level. Dossey states Consciousness is not
confined to an individual body, an individual mind may affect not just their body but also other people

July 20th, 1969. The day man landed on the moon. At 20:18 UTC Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin
made their historical landing on the lunar Sea of Tranquility and made the first footsteps on our

American people, that we would land on the moon. Despite the success the task was an enormous one.
To launch a fiveteen ton capsule, send it to the moon, and then land it back on Earth was very costly.
Even now, half a century later, launching any chemical rocket is very costly and very inefficient.
There have been a multitude of ideas that have been proposed to alleviate the cost and increase the
efficiency of the rockets and one of the more promising, albeit risky, methods is the use of nuclear

A rockets is more or less a controlled explosion. This explosion is directed through a nozzle that

Discussion
Agentic interpersonal behaviour debates the idea of exercising power over others in social contexts.
The individuals who tend to present this trait tend to identify themselves as forceful, assertive and self
confident, (Wiggins 1995; Zeigler Hill; Qinglin Zhang 2013).
The social dominance that typically accompanies extraversion can aid various self esteem regulatory
functions; examples of this include sustaining and augmenting feelings of self worth as well as
communicating these thoughts about the self to the social environment.
This pattern is coherent with the reasoning that self esteem is a determining factor and that self esteem
is associated with relative positions of dominance in hierarchies, (Kirkpatrick Ellis, 2001)
Perceived self esteem was positively connected with recognised traits of extraversion,
conscientiousness and emotional solidity. Together, these results insinuate that the perceivers believed
that individuals who were classed as extraverted, conscientious and emotionally stable possessed
greater levels of self esteem. It is crucial to comment that these associations emerged after controlling
for self reported personality features.
The importance of this, establishes the association between

Taxable Income And International Transfer Pricing Essay
Taxable Income and International Transfer Pricing Business organizations increasingly look to
globalization to increase profitability and maintain competitiveness. Income from such operations is
taxed differently in the United States (US) dependent upon type of income and the levels of said
income. Such foreign corporations that are controlled by US shareholders are considered controlled
foreign corporations (CFC) which must comply with tax rules instituted in 1962 (Doupnik Perera,
2014). Wholly owned subsidiaries of US companies such as Bahamamama, Ltd, the subsidiary of
Mama Corporation, are considered a CFC, and as such companies such as Mama Corporation must
determine income taxed by the US. Additionally, global organizations seek to reduce tax liabilities
through transfer pricing. Transfer pricing is used to determine the price of transactions between
subsidiaries and parent companies and is used to reduce tax liabilities of US parent companies. As
such, tax authorities intervene to ensure US corporations report correct tax liabilities.
Mama Corporation Subsidiary Bahamamama, Ltd. Mama Corporation s subsidiary Bahamamama,

Using a least to a most sequence of prompting provided an opportunity for a subject to perform a task
requested with the least amount of assistance if able, but also provided a more direct prompt if

increase in rates of SIB during treatment. Fading an escape schedule used with one of the subjects was
a strength of this study. The schedule was faded from continuous access to escape to a fixed time of
ten minutes. This schedule fading was a benefit because a primary reason for this intervention was to
increase access to instruction without SIB. A ten minute time frame between episodes of SIB might be
a reasonable amount of time for acquisition of an academic skill. Future research involving using
noncontingent escape as a treatment for problem behavior might include typically developing
individuals in a classroom setting. For example, a fixed time schedule might be used to permit
children in a classroom to leave their seats. An analogous fading schedule described in this study
might be used to fade the time of access to escape to match segments of time which might fit
instructional demands. Additionally, a fixed time schedule for escape might be used for bathroom

for the need to protect the individual concerned or to protect others in society. The Mental Health Act

approved social worker (ASW) or the nearest relative (NR) of the individual who is to be confined.
The applications must also be certified by two medical recommendations (one medical

Border Control Offensive
1) What actions prompted the border control offensive and made the issue of illegal immigration a
priority? In the 90s, border crossing illegally turned into a political issue. Political competitors and
officeholders utilized crusade advertisements highlighting unlawful outsiders are crossing the outskirt
with no sort of effort to establish safety set up to stop them. This thus started a political development
to prevent unauthorized workers from entering the U.S. The U.S. Government reacted by bulking up
the outskirt ranges that were utilized more as often as possible by fringe crossers and runners. INS
dispatched a few special operations to prevent individuals from illicitly crossing the border and for

Personal Narrative-Comanche Company
It seems to me, that a lot of people when thinking of Sustainment in the way that ADRP 4.0 lays it out
see the really big picture of it all. So I ll go back a couple years back in 2009 for a prime example of a
small company based out of a small Combat Outpost on the border of Pakistan/Afghanistan
benefitting from the support and services of Army Aviation to continue our warfighting function. My
company was Delaware Company of the 1 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment 4 Brigade 25TH
Infantry Division. If this particular outfit doesn t rings any bells other than the rich history it does
possess, I m positive the name Bowe Bergdahl will. Now Bowe was in Comanche Company and we
all basically know his story. This immediately led to our commander walking into our living quarters
and informing us we had 20 minutes to pack our rucks we ve got a DUSTWUN. That s all we got, no
mission time frame, nothing. We passed out two mortars each, every man carried his standard combat
load, MRE s for 2 days that were field stripped, whatever clothing we ... Show more content on

He then told us, search every building in the area then secure it. That s it, that s what we were given.
No problem, we ve got this. We did as we were told, we searched and secured areas and continued to
receive mission updates by SATCOM as they came in for us. Our 2 day mission (or so we thought)
was now into our 5th day. We had a Black Hawk come and drop off some food and water for us on our
3rd day, so we were good there. On the 5th day we got into contact. I won t go into a lot of details but
my men still walk today while enemies do not. But now we re running black on ammo as well. We we
re originally told we don t believe you by higher............that s another story. Eventually we got them to
come back out and drop us a speed ball and everyone was able to reload. This wouldn t be the last
time we were engaged during this

Introduction
Chemical equilibrium is the study of change within a chemical reaction and how far it will go to reach
a dynamic equilibrium (Burdge). Dynamic equilibrium is defined as the constant movement of species
in a chemical reaction, gone to incompletion while the rates of production and consumption are equal
(Kf = Kr ) (Burdge). It differs from static equilibrium in that species are constantly being consumed
and produced, it is dynamic movement (Fox). The concentration of such species do not change, it
remains constant (Fox). The rate at which species are being

A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor
Flannery O Connor s Southern Gothic short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, is one of sudden
violence; although, it begins rather uneventful (Kaplan 1). Bailey, his wife, and their children, John
Wesley, June Star, and a baby boy, are all looking forward to a trip to Florida. Grandmother, Bailey s
mom, wants to go to east Tennessee to see her relatives, not Florida. She uses an article in the
newspaper that tells of an escaped criminal, the Misfit, which is headed to Florida to try to persuade
her son into not going there. Her attempt at persuading her son fails, and so the adventure begins.
While the grandmother and the Misfit are the central figures of Flannery O Connor s short story A
Good Man is Hard to Find, Bailey, John Wesley, and June Star prove to be instrumental characters
because they are used to show a change in the mood of the story.
O Connor shows the reader through her writings that Bailey plays the role of a father, husband, and
son, and he tries to succeed at all of them. He is a man that is portrayed to be strong, protective, and
intelligent by the author (Nester 126). Another side of Bailey that rarely comes out but is important to
the story is his temper. After the family has a car accident, the grandmother mentions that she is afraid
of Bailey, and what he might do to her since she ultimately was responsible for the car accident. This
gives the reader a hint of violence in the story. The reader also sees his unstable and rather intolerant

The Indian Removal And The Colonization Of The United...
Between the years 1816 and 1850, over one hundred thousand Indians from sixty different tribes were
relocated from their homelands and moved west; around thirty thousand Indians would die en route.
The Indian Removal stands as one of the cruelest periods in the history of the United States, and is the
result of a long history of war and disagreement between whites and Indians.
Indians and Europeans had their differences. The culture of the Indian tribes was very different than
that of the incoming white settlers. Indian nations held a deep respect for nature, and felt that the land
belonged to no individual. The white European settlers believed in private land ownership. However,
in spite of these differences, some white settlers and Indians developed successful trade relationships.
Still, Indians were long regarded as savages by white Europeans . Spaniards treated them with extreme
brutality, imprisoning Indians and confiscating their lands. And as time passed, Indians and Europeans
would begin to fight over land claims.
200 years later, Indians and Europeans had several written treaties, but the Europeans often ignored
the treaties and encroached on Native territory. Indians sought ways to stop the settlers from taking
their lands, sometimes turning to war.
In the American Revolutionary War, most Indians fought on the side of the British. Indians believed
that Britain was the better option for winning the war, as they hoped the British would help curb the
expansion of

Analysis Of Swift Cellular
1.Origin Swift Cellular is a private owned cell phone company that was started by Brent Carlisle. He
started his business by selling cellphones in the back of his car during the early 1990 s in Columbus,

he expanded Swift Cellular to more than a hundred businesses across the United States. Services

Examples Of Anxiety In King Lear
William Shakespeare s great tragedy King Lear is widely considered his greatest work. King Lear
would have caused some anxiety for its Christian audience through its contradiction of Christian
values, nihilism, the uselessness of language and the unresponsiveness of the gods. In this text the
frequent contradictions of Christian values would have made Shakespeare s audience anxious. One
example of this is in the first scene of the play when Lear declares Nothing will come of nothing. This
line is directly contrary to the Christian belief that God created everything from nothing. A more
obvious example is the frequent references to a polytheistic and pagan belief system. Throughout the
play nearly every character refers to the gods in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Christianity, as in many other religions, great sanctitiy and reverence is shown to language. From
sacred texts to prayers, words are the vehicle of devotion. In this play, however, Shakespeare often
expresses the futility of language and its inadequacy in describing great emotion. One such instance is
in Act 1 Scene 1 when Cordelia says I cannot heave my heart into my mouth. She feels that there is
not sufficient means of expressing the greatness of her love for her father with words. This is also
shown in Edgar s speech in Act 4 Scene 1 when he says The worst is not the worst so long as we can
say this is the worst. He means that if something truly were the worst, language would be inadequate
to describe its horrors. Another example of this futility of language comes from Lear in Act 5 Scene 3.
At the extreme peak of his suffering, with his beloved daughter s corpse in front of him, he loses al
ability to express himself through words. This can be seen in his line Howl, howl howl, as he carries
in Cordelia s body; he can find no better means of expressing his grief than in such repititions. He
does this twice more in this scene when he says No, no, no life and the line Never, never, never, never,
never. At this stage his absolute devastation can no longer be spoken coherently. To a faith which
centres around the notion of expression of great love and devotion through language, such dismissal
would be shocking. Despite the anxiey the futility of language would have caused, there are other
elements of this text that trouble a Christian audience as

  • 2. Analysis of the Amended Family and Medical Leave Act Essay On August 5, 1993 the amended Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA), was intended to help employees have a work life balance. This accomplishment placed the United Stated ahead of major barriers for the fair labor laws. Before having the amended FMLA put into place, employees were rarely granted job protection for caring for newborns, relatives and personal medical illness. With the new amended act, it allowed employees to take a leave of absence from their job and allowed protection from being fired or having to take a reduced work scheduled by force from the company. Initially, the bill had been introduced to Congress session for the past nine years and had been vetoed twice by President George H.W. Bush, although, in the 1988 ... Employers are affected also by FMLA but not replacing the employee or giving the employee an alternative position with the strong intentions of discouraging them from taking the leave. If the employer fails to comply, there are strict consequences and possible lawsuits. Another discouragement that affected for the employers were that they had to continue providing group health insurance to the employee while on leave. The FMLA can have a negative impact on both small and large employers due to the law s regulatory and administrative complexity (Leonard, 2000). FMLA created a sense of burden for employers and their management team, as they were responsible in finding suitable replacements to fill in for employees who are out on FMLA leave. This would have eventually slowed down the employer s productivity causing profit losses, which employer s do not want to see happen. • 4. The Origin Of The Egyptian Religion Horus is one of the oldest and most meaningful deities in agent Egyptian religion. He was worshiped through the late predynastic period and through the Greco Roman times. From as far back as we know the Egyptians believed that Osiris was of divine origin, that he suffered death and mutilation at the hands of evil, and after a great struggle with these powers he rose again, that he then became the king of the underworld and judge of the dead, and because he had conquered death the honorable also might conquer death (Horus of Edfu). There is so much that we have learned about Horus, from who he was before he was a God, to who he symbolizes, and the different ways of representation. Horus s mother was the Goddess Isis and his father was Osiris. Isis fled from Set to give birth to Horus safely, knowing Set would want to kill Horus as he already killed Osiris. Horus then became Set s enemy, eventually defeating Set, thus avenging his father and assuming the rule. Horus emerged as a local god in many places and with different names. Some of the names were Harmakhis Horus in the Horizon , Harpocrates Horus the Child and, Harsiesis Horus, Son of Isis (Horus, Encyclopedia). Horus became the universal name for many different gods associated with falcons. From the 1st dynasty onward, Horus and the god Set were presented as perpetual antagonists who were reconciled in the harmony of Upper and Lower Egypt. Under coalition loyalty programs, members can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and ATT.) The program helps consumers to earn rewards faster and lead to a higher level of engagement with a program which provides merchants an opportunity to attract new customers and run cross promotional campaigns. However, the biggest challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an economic case for shifting away from proprietary to collaborative program. AXP was in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty program (Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase within their stores over next two weeks, while in Plenti program the points (1 point = 1 cents) are valid for three years and can be redeemed at any participating merchant. Rite Aid was concerned that if they joined Plenti, customers will continue to earn points at Rite Aid but with more redemption options and longer validity, the redemptions will be skewed towards other merchants especially the Grocer Partner. Diction and contrasting imagery are really important because they are what readers react and connect to. The Flowers , a short story by Alice Walker, is a great example of diction at play. This short story uses contrasting imagery and diction to develop and show meaning in the work. The diction and contrasting imagery also conveys meaning to the text by showing a shift in the theme of the work. In the beginning of the short story, diction and imagery played their role in conveying Myop to be and innocent, young, and happy girl. Towards the middle, Myop was hinted to having an altering innocence. Finally, the diction and contrasting imagery shatters Myop s life because it portrays a loss of childhood innocence. Seeing the dead man changed the way she saw life. Instead of grazing fields and golden surprises, she now saw an empty man with large, broken, white teeth, rotted clothes, and his head spinning restlessly in the breeze. The word choice and imagery chosen to describe this scene conveyed meaning to The Flowers because it revealed that Myop s character was now experiencing a loss of innocence and that the happy and pleasant moments were completely gone. The description and imagery used to describe the guy illustrates a horrific scene in the readers mind and conveys that the story had just experienced a plot twist from peaceful times to depressing and somber moments. Above all, firms that celebrate diversity, their work force is highly expected to be more committed to the employers because of the recognition and valuing of individual differences. To this context, cost associated with turnover and absenteeism will be reduced, Leopold, et al (2005). This implies that diversity can provide an organization with competitive advantage. • 18. The Effects Of Whitewashing In Hollywood Given that the media is such a major part of how we see the world, it is important to dig deeper into the message it often portrays. In this day, televisions and cellphones are staple devices in every household, making it a simple and speedy platform to influence individuals of all demographics. Hollywood in particular has all the potential to provide positive and true portrayals of Asian culture through their work but they continue to do the exact opposite in order to please American viewership which leads to the whitewashing of the material. Race is sadly a factor that goes into choosing the right person for a role and this is where whitewashing comes into play as white actors are casted in roles that were originally meant for non white actors. This can be seen in Hollywood as early as the 1920 s up to modern day America. This can have negative effects on our society and the way we view each other due to misrepresentation and blatant disrespect towards cultures, however it can also bring awareness and spark change due to the backlash it receives at the same time. . The practice of whitewashing is extremely prevalent and has become somewhat of a tradition among Hollywood s many works. Hollywood has a long history of whitewashing that dates back as early as 1919 in D.W. Griffith s film Broken Blossoms in which a white actor played the role of a Chinese immigrant. • 20. Comparison Of Paul Revere s Ride Paul Revere was famous for the warning of british troops on April 18, 1775. Sadly, this is just a poem. Paul Revere s Ride, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is a poem incorrectly depicting the events of the fateful night. We ll look at the Belknap Letter, a letter written by Paul Revere himself depicting what happened that night. We ll look at the similarities and differences to see how different these two tellings of the night are and how Paul Revere was not a unique hero of the battle of Lexington. The two do have their similarities. Both tell of the story of paul s midnight ride, but that s all well known. The both aso tell of the lantern signals and how it was one lantern if the british went by land and to if they went by sea.As said in Longfellow s poem, He said to his friend, if the British march by land or sea from the town to night, hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a signal light, one, if by land, one, as a signal. In both, they tell about how they went around the colonies warning of the british attack, as said in Longfellow s poem through the night went his cry of alarm to every Middlesex village and farm, a cry of defiance and not of fear, a voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, and a word that shall echo forevermore! and in the Belknap letter In Medford, I awaked the Captain of the minutemen; and after that, I told almost every house, till I got to Lexington. I found Hancock and Adams at the Reverend Mr. Clark s. The two got the bare bones of the story right. Despite all these similarities, there are many large differences between the two. The first is that Paul Revere did much more than warn the people of the british. In the belknap letter it said Mr. Lowell asked me to go to the tavern with him, to get a trunk of papers belonging to Mr. Hancock. We went up to the tavern , and while we were getting the trunk, we saw the British very near, upon a full march. We hurried towards Mr. Clark s house. The Public Disclosure Of Information Essay As per Lindblom, and Dowling, and Pfeffer, the public disclosure of information in spaces like the annual reports can be made use of by a business to apply legitimation strategies i.e. to elevate the legitimacy and reduce legitimacy gap. This principle has been adopted by several researchers across the globe. Through Annual reports a firm can disclose information to offset any previous negative news or provide information to relevant parties regarding positive features of the organization that was not known beforehand, awards and recognitions received, initiatives executed etc. Even though such disclosures might not necessarily mean there has been any real change brought about by the organization, according to Ashforth and Gibbs (1990), the use of substantive management techniques might require real, objective change in organizational goals, structures, and procedures and practices. Consistent with the conclusions of Lindblom and Dowling, and Pfeffer, Hurt (1970) has deduced that one of the primary functions of accounting as well as accounting reports, is to legitimate the existence and operation of the business. Such views focus on the strategic nature of financial statements and relevant disclosures. Importance of Internal and External Accountability Effective accountability requires a statement of goals, transparent decision making and relationships, and honest reporting of resource use and achievements, which can emphasize the honesty and efficiency with which ... A Plant Based Diet as a Prescriptive Measure: Should Health Care Providers Recommend A Vegan Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic Diseases? David Arthur, MS, PA S The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other cause.1 In 2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were responsible for more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also referred to as lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle choice as primary risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle modification.2 The four primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health Organization, are cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes mellitus.3 The power of lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic diseases of our time is well established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not being obese, getting at least thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing the primary sources of disease and death in western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these healthy lifestyle choices ... Suggestions as to why that were presented in the article is that students who work and go to school full time have the ability to manage their time more wisely then those who do not work (p.396 387). This data is again represented in another study that was produced by Lang (2012) which clarifies that college students who work maintain a higher grade point average then students who do not work (p.250). Another aspect that Lang s experiment clarifies that more working students spend more time one their studies and working then they do with their social lives (p.250). As you continue your journey, you stumble across a woodland child and inquire about general questions. Being inquisitive and intrigued by her fair beauty, queries regarding he family arise and soon you find her concept of death skewed. We are Seven, composed by William Wordsworth and published in Lyrical Ballads, is one of Wordsworth darker poems and unlike his characteristic Romantic style. Wordsworth lost his mother at the tender age of eight, coincidentally, the same age as the cottage girl. This poem stems from Wordsworth s personal experiences from when he journeyed across Europe later in life and stumbled across a child near Goodrich Castle, whom is alleged to be the muse behind this poem. The poem depicts the struggle the speaker faces as he tries to verbalize the truth over the deceased cottage girl s brother and sister. The characterizations regarding the speaker s social class and age in regards to his audience, the little girl, contribute to the colliding ideology during this exchange. Wordsworth begins the scene of this poem with the master strolling down a road in the countryside. The silence and loneliness of the poem breaks when the man comes across a little girl frolicking alone. Before any words are exchanged, a description of the child is given, alluding to her social standing among society. Described as having Her hair so thick with many a curl / That cluster ... In some occasions I feel like I am not welcome at the store, or even any place of the mater due to the fact that they sometimes do not display a positive attitude. I guess what I am trying to say is that when you display a negative attitude the people around you feel uncomfortable. No one likes a person who displays negative attitude because it is disrespectful to the people around you, and it is bad for business if the person displaying bad attitude works somewhere. People think that if you display a negative attitude that it is good for business because it tells the boss of the business that you have competitiveness. Yes that is true ... Laminar flow and convective heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid inside horizontal annuli with a streamwise moving inner cylinder are investigated theoretically. Employed model for alumina/water nanofluid is the modified two component four equation non homogeneous equilibrium model that fully accounts for the effects of nanoparticles volume fraction distribution. Aiming to consider the effects of thermal boundary conditions on nanoparticles migration, two cases including constant heat flux at the outer wall and insulated inner wall (Case A) and constant heat flux at the inner wall with insulated outer wall (Case B) have been considered. The numerical results obtained indicated that the thermal boundary conditions at the pipe walls are significantly affecting the nanoparticle volume fraction distribution particularly in the cases where the ratio of Brownian motion to thermophoretic diffusivities is small. Moreover, increasing the velocity of the moving inner cylinder reduce the heat transfer rate for case A. In this case nanoparticles migration has negative effects on the performance of the heat transfer system as it decreases the heat transfer rate. In contrast, in case B, movement of the inner cylinder enhance the heat transfer rate and anomalous heat transfer enhancement take place when the thermophoretic force is dominant (larger nanoparticles). Nanoparticles volume fraction distribution developed under the mutual effects of thermophoretic and Brownian motion forces. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to prevent his worst fear from becoming reality, Macbeth hires assassins to assassinate Banquo and his son Fleance, in an effort to prevent the witches prophecies about Banquo from being fulfilled. Macbeth attempts to tamper with fate even though fate is an inevitable course of events that is predetermined by God and is beyond human control. Macbeth kills Banquo in order to satisfy his greed and, thus, he must pay the consequences for his actions. Additionally, Macbeth developed hubris, believing that he is invincible and nobody can slay him. Consequently, Macbeth s hubris slowly becomes his dominant character trait. This is evident when Macbeth visits the witches at his own free will. After the witches give him the three apparitions, Macbeth presumes that the witches apparitions can never come true and, therefore, he is invulnerable (Shakespeare 4.1.104 105). Macbeth s hubris lingers to the very end of the play, even when he knows that his defeat is inevitable. When Macbeth finally realizes the witches deception during his fight with Macduff, Macduff suggests that Macbeth should capitulate. In turn, Macbeth replies, I will not yield,/ To kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet,/ And to be baited with the rabble s curse./ Though Birnam wood be come to Dunsinane,/ And thou opposed, being of no woman born,/ Yet I will try the last (Shakespeare 5.8.32 37). The process of civil confinement requires an application for admission to the hospital from either an approved social worker (ASW) or the nearest relative (NR) of the individual who is to be confined. The applications must also be certified by two medical recommendations (one medical recommendation will suffice in an emergency under s.4). Section 26 (1) of the MHA 1983 provides the legal definition of the NR. The relatives of whole blood are usually preferred over relatives of half blood. In the event that there are two relatives of the relevant class, the elder of the two will usually be chosen as the nearest relative . Section 114 (2) of the MHA 1983 requires that ASWs should have appropriate competence in dealing with persons who are suffering from mental disorder. An ASW must also undergo twelve weeks of training and must also attend regular refresher courses. This is in contrast with the NR, who does not require any specialist training or knowledge. It is also a divergence from the duties of the Mental Welfare Officer under the Mental Health Act 1959, who also did not require any specialist training to undertake their ... • 41. Border Control Offensive 1) What actions prompted the border control offensive and made the issue of illegal immigration a priority? In the 90s, border crossing illegally turned into a political issue. Political competitors and officeholders utilized crusade advertisements highlighting unlawful outsiders are crossing the outskirt with no sort of effort to establish safety set up to stop them. This thus started a political development to prevent unauthorized workers from entering the U.S. The U.S. Government reacted by bulking up the outskirt ranges that were utilized more as often as possible by fringe crossers and runners. INS dispatched a few special operations to prevent individuals from illicitly crossing the border and for briefly, it made the administration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Personal Narrative-Comanche Company It seems to me, that a lot of people when thinking of Sustainment in the way that ADRP 4.0 lays it out see the really big picture of it all. So I ll go back a couple years back in 2009 for a prime example of a small company based out of a small Combat Outpost on the border of Pakistan/Afghanistan benefitting from the support and services of Army Aviation to continue our warfighting function. My company was Delaware Company of the 1 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment 4 Brigade 25TH Infantry Division. If this particular outfit doesn t rings any bells other than the rich history it does possess, I m positive the name Bowe Bergdahl will. Now Bowe was in Comanche Company and we all basically know his story. This immediately led to our commander walking into our living quarters and informing us we had 20 minutes to pack our rucks we ve got a DUSTWUN. That s all we got, no mission time frame, nothing. He then told us, search every building in the area then secure it. That s it, that s what we were given. No problem, we ve got this. We did as we were told, we searched and secured areas and continued to receive mission updates by SATCOM as they came in for us. Our 2 day mission (or so we thought) was now into our 5th day. We had a Black Hawk come and drop off some food and water for us on our 3rd day, so we were good there. On the 5th day we got into contact. I won t go into a lot of details but my men still walk today while enemies do not. But now we re running black on ammo as well. We we re originally told we don t believe you by higher............that s another story. Eventually we got them to come back out and drop us a speed ball and everyone was able to reload. Dynamic equilibrium is defined as the constant movement of species in a chemical reaction, gone to incompletion while the rates of production and consumption are equal (Kf = Kr ) (Burdge). It differs from static equilibrium in that species are constantly being consumed and produced, it is dynamic movement (Fox). The concentration of such species do not change, it remains constant (Fox). The rate at which species are being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor Flannery O Connor s Southern Gothic short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, is one of sudden violence; although, it begins rather uneventful (Kaplan 1). Bailey, his wife, and their children, John Wesley, June Star, and a baby boy, are all looking forward to a trip to Florida. Grandmother, Bailey s mom, wants to go to east Tennessee to see her relatives, not Florida. She uses an article in the newspaper that tells of an escaped criminal, the Misfit, which is headed to Florida to try to persuade her son into not going there. Her attempt at persuading her son fails, and so the adventure begins. While the grandmother and the Misfit are the central figures of Flannery O Connor s short story A Good Man is Hard to Find, Bailey, John Wesley, and June Star prove to be instrumental characters because they are used to show a change in the mood of the story. O Connor shows the reader through her writings that Bailey plays the role of a father, husband, and son, and he tries to succeed at all of them. He is a man that is portrayed to be strong, protective, and intelligent by the author (Nester 126). Another side of Bailey that rarely comes out but is important to the story is his temper. After the family has a car accident, the grandmother mentions that she is afraid of Bailey, and what he might do to her since she ultimately was responsible for the car accident. This gives the reader a hint of violence in the story. The reader also sees his unstable and rather intolerant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Indian Removal And The Colonization Of The United... Between the years 1816 and 1850, over one hundred thousand Indians from sixty different tribes were relocated from their homelands and moved west; around thirty thousand Indians would die en route. The Indian Removal stands as one of the cruelest periods in the history of the United States, and is the result of a long history of war and disagreement between whites and Indians. Indians and Europeans had their differences. The culture of the Indian tribes was very different than that of the incoming white settlers. Indian nations held a deep respect for nature, and felt that the land belonged to no individual. The white European settlers believed in private land ownership. However, in spite of these differences, some white settlers and Indians developed successful trade relationships. Still, Indians were long regarded as savages by white Europeans . Spaniards treated them with extreme brutality, imprisoning Indians and confiscating their lands. And as time passed, Indians and Europeans would begin to fight over land claims. 200 years later, Indians and Europeans had several written treaties, but the Europeans often ignored the treaties and encroached on Native territory. Indians sought ways to stop the settlers from taking their lands, sometimes turning to war. In the American Revolutionary War, most Indians fought on the side of the British. Indians believed that Britain was the better option for winning the war, as they hoped the British would help curb the expansion of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Examples Of Anxiety In King Lear William Shakespeare s great tragedy King Lear is widely considered his greatest work. King Lear would have caused some anxiety for its Christian audience through its contradiction of Christian values, nihilism, the uselessness of language and the unresponsiveness of the gods. In this text the frequent contradictions of Christian values would have made Shakespeare s audience anxious. One example of this is in the first scene of the play when Lear declares Nothing will come of nothing. This line is directly contrary to the Christian belief that God created everything from nothing. A more obvious example is the frequent references to a polytheistic and pagan belief system. Throughout the play nearly every character refers to the gods in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Christianity, as in many other religions, great sanctitiy and reverence is shown to language. From sacred texts to prayers, words are the vehicle of devotion. In this play, however, Shakespeare often expresses the futility of language and its inadequacy in describing great emotion. One such instance is in Act 1 Scene 1 when Cordelia says I cannot heave my heart into my mouth. She feels that there is not sufficient means of expressing the greatness of her love for her father with words. This is also shown in Edgar s speech in Act 4 Scene 1 when he says The worst is not the worst so long as we can say this is the worst. He means that if something truly were the worst, language would be inadequate to describe its horrors. Another example of this futility of language comes from Lear in Act 5 Scene 3. At the extreme peak of his suffering, with his beloved daughter s corpse in front of him, he loses al ability to express himself through words. This can be seen in his line Howl, howl howl, as he carries in Cordelia s body; he can find no better means of expressing his grief than in such repititions. He does this twice more in this scene when he says No, no, no life and the line Never, never, never, never, never. At this stage his absolute devastation can no longer be spoken coherently. To a faith which centres around the notion of expression of great love and devotion through language, such dismissal would be shocking. Despite the anxiey the futility of language would have caused, there are other elements of this text that trouble a Christian audience as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
