Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau and the Internet
As young adults, we cannot recall a life without the web. The web is young because recently it had its
25th anniversary. 25 years ago ,Tim Berners Lee and Robert Cailliau changed the world forever.
According to boutell.com, In 1989, while working at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear
Research), both men made proposals for hypertext systems...And in late 1990 and early 1991, Tim
Berners Lee wrote the first web browser. These men started the technology phenomena, but as time
progressed, society started to become more advanced. People do not interact the same with each other.
As we move on forward, the definition of a friend is lost because of the indecency of social media.
The growth of social media causes people to question what a friend is because people do not
understand the difference between interacting face to face, rather than socializing on the web. As more
social media sites come to the market, people are social without going out. The growth of social media
causes people to think, act, and interact differently, causing the meaning of friendship to be lost,
because of the growth of the web. Socializing digitally contradicts socializing in the real world.
Socializing digitally causes people to think differently about their friends. The generation of today is
not as social as the generation of the past. People compete with each other based on their Facebook
friend numbers, thinking it is a popularity contest. The reality is that Facebook friends

Analysing the Tallabugdera Creek Area Essays
Introduction
To define Burleigh heads centre to a specific place is not an easy thing to do. Burleigh as a place
means so much to so many different people that without the designation of a town centre through
planning, the view on which place best serves this description varies as much as the people who live
and visit there. For me personally, the town centre is located along Tallebudgera Creek including
Burleigh heads national park and on the opposite side, the Tallebudgera Recreation Camp all the way
down to the Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park. Because of this, this is the area is what will be
analysed for this essay.
In order to fully understand the centre I will look at it through the theory presented in Responsive ...

(David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985).
The second of the explored aspects is Variety. Permeability by itself is useless without a difference of
view and function between different areas. Variety when explored in Responsive Environments are
more concerned in the ... Variety of uses... (Bentley, et al 1985, pg. 10) of the area. They propose that a
well designed environment has a diverse range of spaces within the same environment, e.g. Houses,
shops, recreational areas, etc. within the same block. (David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985).
The third of the explored aspects is Legibility. This looks at how the spaces are arranged and
described. It proposes that paths should be descriptive enough to describe where the route would take
as well as the function a space will be used. It also proposes that routes and junctions should differ
from other routes and junctions through the differing of qualities. With the designation of legible space
comes understanding of the environment as well as the route to take to reach a destination without
prior understanding of the special arrangements. (David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985).
The fourth of the explored aspects is Robustness. This describes the ability of an area to have a
multitude of uses (David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985). In the book it is stated, Our objective is
to make their spatial and construction organisation suitable for the widest possible range of likely
activities and future uses both in short

Brunt Hotels PLC Case Study Solution
This essay will be exploring the different challenges and solutions for Brunt
Hotels PLC as they look to expand their business market to hotels in other parts of
Europe. Their first endeavor is to rebrand existing hotels that they have acquired in
France, and sell half of the existing chain. Brunt Hotels PLC has decided to hire current employees
from their UK headquarters to fill management positions in France. This project will help the
company determine if they can continue their reach even further into other European countries. The
success of this project is imperative to further the success of Brunt Hotels PLC to reach their objective
of opening 300 hotels within the next 10 years (Robson, 2008 pg.3). As a way to achieve their goals,
Brunt Hotels PLC has hired consulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the rebrand and launch of the new hotels, the company will have more time to interview and

the local managers will be fluent in French and will require less language training. The local managers
will already be familiar with
France and its customs, which can help to provide even better customer service as they can anticipate
the guests needs more than the expatriates may be able to.

Titration Of A Strong Acid
It is believed that a strong acid that is titrated with a strong base will produce a resultant solution has a
pH that is slightly over 7. This is because strong acids have a lower pH and solutions that are less
basic than weak acids that have been titrated with strong bases. When a weak acid is titrated with a
strong base it will produce a resultant solution that is well above 7 because it starts off with a higher
pH. Acids and bases with high concentrations result in large changes in pH, while acids and bases with
low concentrations result in smaller changes in pH.
1. The titration curve would stop at the equivalence point. This is because the indicator changes the
solutions colour at this point.
2. In order to titrate with antacids (solid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would take less NaOH to neutralize CH3COOH compared with the amount of NaOH required to
neutralize HCl acid. This is because acetic acid is a weak acid has a stronger conjugate base. This by
product helps to raise the pH to 7, a neutral level. HCl is a strong acid and has a weaker conjugate
base. This by product is not very effective in helping to neutralize the acid. CH3COOH also starts off
with a higher pH since it is weaker; this means that it is closer to the neutral pH level than HCl is.
6. The pH of HCl at equivalence point is less than the pH of CH3COOH at equivalence point. This is
because HCl starts at a lower pH level than CH3COOH, since it is a strong acid.
7. To classify an acid as either a strong acid or weak base you can test how they react with water. If the
acid is strong, it will ionize completely. If the acid is weak it will only partially ionize when
introduced to water.
9. If the acid is strong, the titration curve will have a lower equivalence point than a weak acid. If it is
a monoprotic acid, there will only be one equivalence point, while polyprotic titration curves will
include several equivalence

Essay on Cuban Revolution
Almost every nation in the world has experienced a revolution. A revolution can be simply defined as
a change. When a country undergoes a revolution, its ideals that it once believed in are being
modified. Sometimes revolutionaries act intellectually, yet others may respond physically through
destruction. Some may be peaceful, some short lasting, and some pointless. Historians do argue on
identifying whether a revolution has occurred. Revolutions usually follow a rupture in the nation s
events, are directed by a hero, have an ideology and belief system, and use symbols or tools to get its
points across to the people. Cuba and its leader today, Fidel Castro, have their own roots in a
revolution that took place only some forty years ago. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All revolutionaries except Castro and his family were massacred. Although this rupture failed, Castro
s movement gained popularity and prestige all over the world. In fact, Castro called the Revolution the
26 of July Movement. Castro himself was caught and sentenced to jail for two years. Between 1955
and 1956, br br Castro went to United States and Mexico looking for supporters and money to fund his
revolution. On December 2, 1956, eighty two men including Castro and the physician Ernesto Che
Guevara, set sail once again for the Oriente on their yacht, the Granma. The campaign was doomed
from the beginning. Nobody could navigate the boat properly, everybody was seasick, most of the
supplies were jettisoned in a storm, and the expedition landed in the wrong place. (Sinclair,15) On one
occasion Guevara followed the wrong star to travel North, and on another, his comrade put the only
the drink they had, milk, upside down in his pocket. By the end of the day the milk was gone. On
December 5 in the battle of Alegría de Pío, Batista s troops killed all of the rebels except twelve.
Among these survivors, coincidentally, were Castro and Guevara. br br Meanwhile, in the cities and
universities, a revolutionary movement was also taking place. The Ortodoxo political party favored a
violent revolution against Batista. Its leader and University of Havana Professor Rafael Bárcena

Being A Reasonable Thinker
Being a reasonable thinker is a strategy that has benefit me. Working at a church could look like
working at a place that everybody has everything worked out. That is not even close in my experience.
People often thing that because we follow a faith that we will overlook things and let things go. I had a
time when I was working with young people in a competition to get scholarships within the church.
The competition is very hard and very physical. Being reasonable help me keep my cool when my
superiors would walk into my practices and ask me to do things that were not safe or physically
impossible for the kids that I had. I knew that I could ask these kids to do that. I was not going to
compromise their health because they wanted to win a competition.

The staff in the nursery will give Samir a special treatment, not really a favouritism but to consider

If ever there is a classmate who understands Samir, the Staff will assign a student to be with Samir, or

him then he will be no having hard time making friends. Just go easy, start with one friend, then
another one, until he is confident enough to make friends.
The Staff will also assign for play leaders. The play leaders will encourage Samir to join the group and
to be with the group. This will be a big help boosting Samir s

The Media s Negative Effects On Law Enforcement
When an individual chooses a career in law enforcement they realize it can be a very rewarding, yet
dangerous career path to take. Most people often hear about all the potential dangers such as officer
involved shootings and physical confrontations before making the choice to join the ranks of the few
who will always stand for what is right. However, today there is a new danger to law enforcement
known as the mass media which adds a whole new realm of difficulty to an already taxing job. The
negative effects of the media can be felt nationwide by law enforcement agencies and these effects
include creating a divided community, unrealistic expectations, and the devastation of current and
future law enforcement careers. This presentation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media understands which topics are going to cause people to stop everything and listen better than
anybody else. One of those topics is racially motivated brutality by police officers. This has become a
major issue in the United States lately and the media adds fuel to the fire any chance they can get for
their 15 seconds of fame. A good example of how the media turns regular law enforcement incidents
into a topic of race is the way they word their headlines. This is especially true of articles as they want
catchy titles in hopes of catching the attention of readers. Getting an individual to actually take the
time to read an article is tricky business today as reading is considered by many to be a lost art. What
better way is there for the media to attract attention than by saying a certain race is under attack? For
example, the title Man Tasered for resisting arrest probably would not garner that much attention by
today s standards. However if it gets a media makeover and is now, Black man Tasered by officer for
resisting arrest , it will likely receive more attention. This is an unfair practice that stirs up more
controversy and hate for law enforcement officers from those who can t see past the racial
propaganda. Cases like these are popping up all too frequently and as the reader has probably seen
they can lead to civil unrest and

order to get identified properties for any particular application, we may require composing the

restaurants create a high scale environment and an extravagant food presentation for their customers.
With 364 stores, this luxury brand gained popularity through socio demographical changes in the
habits of its citizens. More women joining the workforce is increasing the desire for more ready to eat

foie gras and snow crab, and valued aesthetics. Therefore, the prices raised and the consumption is
significantly lower in comparison to the United States.
From an organizational perspective, Domino s global restaurants adapt to the consumers cultures and

that Japanese customer preferred raw sea food like raw fish, seaweed along with rice in their pizzas.
The Japanese had the option of choosing between American style pizzas and local pizzas.

something in Straw that said he could help them, as they followed him from a Churchyard through the

London, it spread to many other places in England. Each town had their own reasons for the starting
of the Revolt.
The Peasants of Essex (as mentioned above) demanded the abolishment of serfdom among other
things.
The Peasants of Kent demanded there be no lordship in but the lordship of the king and that the goods
of the church be divided among the Parishioners, and that there be no villein in England.
The tenants of the Abbey of St. Albans, Hertfordshire, besieged the abbot, insisting on their rights to
hunt in the woods, fish in the river, grind their own corn at home, and sell land among themselves.
The tenants of Buy St. Edmunds, Suffolk, broke into the abbey and for a time extorted their liberties
from the abbot.

Comparing Meursault And Christ
Why would Camus think to put Meursault and Christ in the same sentence when he says Meursault is
the only Christ we deserve, ? Well, besides being called directly an Anti Christ, Meursault and Christ
have another major difference that makes these two characters complete opposites in contrast to one
another. In the novel Meursault willingly chooses to murder a seemingly innocent man and justifies
the death of another innocent man in the Czech story. Christ himself was an innocent man who was
unjustly killed. According to Thomas L. Hanna to Camus mind, Jesus of Nazareth was an innocent
man unjustly killed, from no point of view can he rule out the fact of the injustice in this event.

Example Of D-Day Narrative Report
June 8 of this summer in Normandy France, I had the privilege to pay my respects at the American

As I walked past each grave no longer was it a an objective experience but personal. I watched people
find their great grandfathers and fall to their knees and place red poppies before the crosses. It was in
doing so, I found the grave of Private Robert Bobby Johns, the youngest soldier to parachute into

Acid Base Extraction Lab Report
Acid Base Extraction Lab
Experimental:
Three grams of a mixture containing Benzoic Acid and Naphthalene was obtained and placed in 100
ml beaker and added 30 ml of ethyl acetate for dissolving the mixture. A small amount (1 2 drops) of
this mixture was separated into a test tube. This test tube was covered and labelled as M (mixture).
This was set to the side and used the following week for the second part of lab. The content in the
beaker was then transferred into separatory funnel. 10 ml of 1 M NaOH added to the content and
placed the stopper in the funnel. In the hood separatory funnel was gently shaken for approximately
one minute and vent the air out for five seconds. We repeated the same process in the same manner
one more time by adding 10ml of 1M NaOH.
After about 1 minute of shaking, the two layers separated. The organic layer on the top layer

Essay on Laurent Clerc
Perhaps one of the most notable and widely known members in Deaf society is Laurent Clerc, who
was a teacher for the deaf. Born on December 26, 1785 in La Balme les Grottes, in southeastern
France to hearing parents, it is unknown for sure whether Clerc was born deaf or was deafened later
on in life. It is believed that Clerc became deaf at the age of one when he had fallen from his high
chair into a fire, badly burning his cheek. He developed a fever from the burn, and was later found out
to have lost his sense of smell and hearing. As far as it is known, Clerc was non speaking and relied on

However, during the 52 day journey he made it a point to master the use of the English language. This
knowledge paired with the use of French Sign Language contributed greatly to evolution of American
sign language. Together, Clerc and Gallaudet founded the first deaf school in the United States, what
is now known as the American School for the Deaf in Hartford, Connecticut. The school opened on
April 15, 1817 with Gallaudet serving as the principal and Clerc as the head teacher. Aside from
teaching the students, Clerc was responsible to training the future teachers and administrators of the
School. He was sent to other schools throughout the United States to continue to teach his methods to
both students and prospective teachers, and his influence on teaching the deaf spread widely
throughout the United States. Though Laurent Clerc had originally planned of staying the United
States for only three years and then returning to his native France, Clerc married a former student of

Arthur Andersen Case
1. What did Arthur Anderson contribute to the Enron disaster?
Arthur Andersen (AA) contributed to the Enron disaster when AA consulting became its own separate
entity, named Accenture. Revenues from consulting services surpassed revenue from auditing
services. A natural competitiveness grew between the two rivals and this is where the problems began
to start. Management held maximinizing revenues as their primary focus of success and
promotions/bonuses were based on this factor. The CEO of AA, Joe Berardino, was an extremely
aggressive pursuer of revenue. This set a negative culture at the top of the company and partners were
expected to comply and atttain that demand. In addition, AA recognized the retention of audit clients

Ethical behaviour in an organization is guided by the ethical culture of the organization, by any

top executives. AA s CEO at the time, Joe Berardino played a significant role in misguiding the firm
and pushing revenue generation rather than working towards decreasing the conflicts between the
auditing profession and the public interest. On April 2, 2002, U.S. House Energy and Commerce
Committee released a memo dated December 9, 1999 from Carl Bass a partner in AA s Professional
Services Group to David Duncan, the AA partner in charge of the Enron account. This memo asked
for an accounting change that would have resulted in a $30 $50 million change to Enron s earnings
(believed to be in regard to the SPE transactions). In February 2000, Bass attempted again to bring
light on what he believed was an arm s length transaction by emailing Duncan to object setting up
LJM Partnership (LJM was a company set up by former Enron CFO Andrew Fastow). Duncan
overruled Bass on the first memo and shortly after the second attempt where he questioned the CFO,
Andrew Fastow and his role with the SPE s was Duncan removed from the Enron account entirely. In
any other of the Big 5 firms, Bass would have been able to overrule Duncan. However, this is a great

Silver Nitrate Test Lab Report
This reaction is observed to be an SN1 reaction which was later verified by the silver nitrate test. The
percent yield obtained for mass was 28.9%. The reason the percent yield was low could be due to the
loss of product. This could have happened in several ways including the loss of the organic phase
during extraction where too much of the organic phase could have been extracted resulting in less of
the product being formed. The lower percent yield may also be due to the reaction not going to
completion, resulting in fewer product formed. Additionally, impurities in the product also yield less
of the product. Incorrect measurements of the graduated cylinder may have also led to a decreased
yield. The weight of the graduated cylinder may have no been accurate if excess water was present
leading to added weight. Also, the filter paper used in the gravity filtration may have also not been
able to hold all the crystals and have allowed some to pass through leading to incorrect mass of

When an aqueous solution is added to a salt, NaCl, it causes it to be insoluble in water and therefore
be recovered later on by having it crystalized. This is referred to as salting out, meaning that the polar
organic compounds, which are soluble in water, are extracted into a nonpolar solvent. This is useful
when it comes to drying of the aqueous extraction via the drying agent and in removing excess water
from the organic solvent. Moreover, the drying agent used in this experiment was the Na2SO4. The
drying agent allows for removal of water; however, if too much drying agent is used, it could lead to
lose of the organic solvent by absorption. This may lead to a decreased

The Pros And Cons Of The Nordic Model
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines a free market as one where the government does not meddle,
but leaves private companies to compete for said business. In a completely free market, private
enterprise competes for a certain piece of a market and there are no government controls over it.
However, there are some markets which are illegal, where prosecution of the crime does not allow the
free market to function. In some cases, social problems arise because the market is not being allowed
to behave the way it was meant to. In this paper we will delve into such an illegal activity and the
social problems that have arised because of it. Also, we will go ahead and ponder how effective it

Decriminalize everything around it and treat it as a regular business, subject to all regulations
businesses have. Sabin (2015), explains how it has been done in Spain where the courts have ruled
that sex workers are entitled to the same rights as other workers. From unemployment, to healthcare to
a pension the Barcelona court ruled that sex workers are entitled to what all other workers have a right
to.
In my opinion, this approach as well as legitimizing such businesses and taking them out of the
underground, leaves them open to taxation and to comply with other regulations that other companies
must comply with. In this scenario, supply and demand work in the same manner as any other
business. Because the workers have rights, these people can feel they are part of society and there
would be a decline on the social problems it creates such as homelessness and drug addiction. Also,
society benefits as a whole in the decline of violence, trafficking and the steady tax capture from a
business never before taxed. Thus supply and demand would work the sex trade than any other service

Summary and Analysis of The Friar s Tale Essay
Summary and Analysis of The Friar s Tale (The Canterbury Tales)
Prologue to the Friar s Tale:
The Friar commends the Wife of Bath for her tale, and then says that he will tell a tale about a
summoner. He does not wish to offend the Summoner who travels with them, but insists that
summoners are known for lewd behavior. The Summoner does not take offense, but does indicate that
he will repay the Friar in turn. The job of the Summoner to which the Friar objects is to issue
summons from the church against sinners who, under penalty of excommunication, pay indulgences
for their sins to the church, a sum which the summoner often pockets.

Common Use of Ceramics in Dental and Orthopaedic Applications
Ceramics are most commonly used in dental applications as restorative materials for crowns, cements
and dentures.
Some ceramics are used in orthopaedic applications such as bone repair, bone augmentation and joint
replacement but their use in this field is not as extensive or widespread as metals and polymers
because ceramics have poor fracture toughness. This severely limits the use of ceramics in load
bearing applications (Davis, 2003).
Ceramics have high hardness and wear resistance, making them suitable for applications such as the
articulating surfaces in joints and bone bonding surfaces in implants. Ceramics like alumina and
zirconia are more appropriate to use in joint replacements and dentistry whereas hydroxyapatite or

However, being a ceramic, pyrolytic carbon is brittle and therefore once a crack has initiated, it will
propagate through the material which will inevitably cause the mechanical heart valve to fail which
will lead to dangerous consequences such as the death of the patient. This is highly unlikely to occur
though because the increased ductility of pyrolytic carbon would make it difficult for crack initiation
to occur in the first place. Along with the mechanical tests, biological tests have also shown that
pyrolytic carbon also had less platelet aggregation and therefore lower risk of blood clotting occurring
than other materials that were tested like titanium alloys, polycrystalline diamond. This proved that
pyrolytic carbon is highly biocompatible and therefore suitable for this application as well as being
safe within the body (Davis, 2003; Snyder and Helmus, 2004; Ritchie, 1996).
As biomaterials, metals are normally used for load bearing applications such as pins and plates for
bone fixation devices, femoral stems for hip replacement prosthetic devices. They have also been
widely used in dentistry as part of orthodontic devices as well as pins for anchoring tooth implants. In
order to be successful in load bearing applications such as hip or knee replacements, the metallic
biomaterials must have satisfactory fatigue strength in order to endure the forces placed upon the body
by daily activities like walking or chewing (Czernuszka, 1996).

The Importance Of Proper Sexual Education On Sex
Kaislyn Lyons Mr. Ray English 1301.3 20 November 2015 The Importance of Proper Sexual
Education In life, high school especially, sexual education is very important and can truly impact a
person s life. Improper education on sex can lead to many life changing mistakes. These blunders can
be avoided with proper knowledge. Although students should be encouraged to remain abstinent, they
should still be taught about contraception and practicing safe sex. With proper sexual education,
abstinence rates will increase and the numbers of teenage parents will decrease. In today s society, sex
is everywhere. It is on TV, in music, in novels, magazines, and even hidden. As a teenager, peer
pressure also has a very strong presence. Kids are encouraged by their peers to look a certain way, act
a certain way, belief certain things, and change themselves to fit in with the norm . Whenever they do
not meet the standards of society they are teased for being different. This negativity increases when it
comes to the topics of sex. Just because an individual has chosen to abstain for sexual activity, they
are dubbed an outcast. Their beliefs and strong morals come back to bite them in the presence of their
peers. Premarital sex is often glamorized. Teens are shown that engaging in sex is cool despite the
risks. This obscure view is due to a lack of information and proper education. Many schools often shy
away from the subject of sex. Parents also shut out the topic. This leaves teens to look

The Grand Nursing Theory Chosen By The Future Apn Is Roy...
The grand nursing theory chosen by the future APN is Roy s Model of Adaptation. In 1970, Sister
Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a
foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on
her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and
encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of
Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept,
adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being
who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and
residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying
somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing,
Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli
(1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any
given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts
identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation
thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. In using Roy s framework as a model with which to

Type Of Men In Forrest Gump
Types of Men in Dating: The Good, The Bad, and The Perfect In the 1994 comedy drama Forrest

Some women are finding the words life and men easily interchangeable in this analogy. They say it is
hard to categorize what is on the inside of a man based on how things seem from the outside of them.
For example, there are some who are looking as if they have it all together, yet behind closed doors,
they are self righteous, argumentative, and disrespectful. On the other hand, some are the complete
opposite. They are humble, nonaggressive, and respectful. As a result, it is difficult for a woman to

What Is The Significance Of Friday Night Lights

on a Friday night, a set of spindly stadium lights rises to the heavens to so powerfully, and so briefly,

town located in Texas, where football is revered by the entire town. Bissinger talks about the
enormous effect of sports on American life and how it creates a sense of false hope (XII). Lewis H.

Sports are a large part of America s culture as well as Odessa s. In Friday Night Lights, the players
spend their entire lives training to be successful because sports are all they have to look forward to.
During the final game of the season to make it to state, Ronnie Beavers told his team, This is the last
minute of your life (326). Beavers quote shows the importance of the moment. If Permian does not
win the game, they have nothing to look forward to in their future. This semi final game is much more
than a game for Permian. What Beaver is saying is ridiculous, the Permian players act like Football
will determine their future. By following the players and the town, Bissinger is able to show readers
how important sports are in Odessa. Bissinger notes how it was obvious that the students of Permian
hold the town on their shoulders (XIV). By following the story of the American small town, including
many personal anecdotes, Bissinger shows the effect that sports have in Odessa. Friday Night Lights
supports Lapham s claim that games represent much more than a game. It is not merely a game but a
way of life. Permian players eat, breathe, and live football. Their lives are centralized around one
thing: Football. Bissinger describes the town when he states, If you went to their homes, you might
find black toilet seats, or black seat cushions, or black phone book covers, or black paper plates, or
black clocks, or black felt on their pool tables (39). Bissinger throughout the book displays how the
town revolves around sports. Everything that Odessa does is centered around the football team. The
players train everyday to work to improving their record and that is all that matters to

Modern Technology The office s worker walk into every day has changed with time, but the changes
cannot be compared to the transformations that the tools of work have undergone. Today, every
employer must incorporate digital tools into the physical office space to keep up with the modern
trends of doing business. Apart from incorporating digital communication to physical office space, an
employer can choose to operate a virtual office. Such business locations only exist in cyberspace and
enable the employees to work from anywhere around the world. What employees need is phones,
laptops, and access to reliable internet. Business owners can adopt the use of office suites fit for the
kind of business they are engaged. Many companies are already using the Office 365 which enhances
collaboration and communication and also eliminates barriers created by physical distance and time
zones. Adoption of virtual offices is one way of cutting costs and improving work flexibility compared
to renting the physical office space. Moreover, there are virtual office plans that provide business
owners with professional mail handling services, reception, and call forwarding. Some virtual plans
also include occasional conference room rental and temporary workspace rental for professionals who
are home based.

The Stranger By Albert Camus Essay
The Stranger was written by the French author Albert Camus, and was first published in 1942 in its
indigenous French. It s described as being the most widely read French novel of the twentieth century,
and has sold millions of copies in Britain and the United States alone. It s known by two titles; the
other being The Outsider. The backstory to this is very interesting but, more importantly, the subtle
difference in meaning between titles suggests certain resultant translative idiosyncrasies when reading
the texts. The conciseness and terseness of the novel demands a very specific interpretation if one is to
understand it correctly, and unless read in French some of the meaning is doubtless lost in translation .
Even so, the main idea in The Stranger is readily accessible, and that idea is the philosophy behind
meaning. Albert Camus tells states in his 1955 Preface to the American Edition of The Stranger: One
would therefore not be much mistaken to read The Stranger as the story of a man who, without any
heroics, agrees to die for the truth (Camus, 1955). The Stranger takes the reader on a journey that
simultaneously questions meaning, and utilizes Meursault as a vehicle in finding it. Most analyses
seem to define The Stranger as a foray into the Absurd , however, by the end of the novel Meursault
does indeed, find meaning in his world, and we ve been led to comprehend that discovery by Camus.
To validate this, we need to address how the text guides us to that

Helen Monologue
There was gossip all over Sparta that Queen Helen had been captured. They said she had been
captured by the Trojan prince Paris. The rumors were true, Queen Helen had been captured by Prince
Paris. I only knew this because King Menelaus was upset by the capture of his wife and persuaded his
brother King Agamemnon of Mycenae to lead an expedition to retrieve her. I am one of the soldiers he
sent. Being a soldier is excellent for me, I can kill openly and no one will question it.
I boarded one of the thousands of ships heading to Troy.
Do you think they ll give her up,? Asked one of my comrades.
I highly doubt it, they didn t kidnap her just to give her back, I responded, shocked at the stupidity of
my comrade. They all really were meatheads.

Australia s Involvement In The Vietnam War
The Cold War era (1945 1989) was conflicted with the dominance of, overall, the two superpowers,
the U.S.S.R and the U.S, with political and social ideology taking centre stage. Australia s
involvement during this time, was paramount and reinstated its long term allegiance with the United
States when entering South Vietnam. After WWII had finished, the Soviet Union showed aggression
towards the U.S as the competition for world superiority began, and led to the capitalist/democratic
nations particularly aligned with the United States fearing the spread of communism. Countries
including Australia signed treaties and agreements to stop this regime and the only resolution, in the
end, was war.Q

Britain was unable to come to our aid to fight in the Asia Pacific against mainly Japan in WWII. The
United States were the nation that got us out of trouble so we must come to their aid in Vietnam, and
commit to the war effort like they previously did to us. In response to the building threat of
communism, the U.S aligned itself with many nations to form treaties including NATO, although
Australia had membership in SEATO and ANZUS only. This responded with the Warsaw Pact being
signed in Poland by communist countries led by the U.S.S.R. The Australian Government were feeling
the pressure to take action as the all the way with LBJ campaign was symbolised greatly by Harold
Holt. According to reliable secondary source 6, after Robert Menzies succeeded Holt, the only option
was to go to Vietnam. The takeover of South Vietnam would be a direct military threat to Australia .
To defeat communism in Vietnam, the U.S needed more than supplies, they need man power to
outnumber the North. The South Vietnam government supposedly requested for assistance, although
later proven incorrect according to reliable source 7. Australia s involvement in Vietnam was to make

Affluenza Punishment
Heinous crimes need punishments. In our current judicial system, the wealth of defendants often
allows for lesser sentences for crimes. Be it because a real sentence will cause too much strain on the
criminal or because someone was not told no enough times as a kid, wealthy people are getting off
with little to no punishment. This epidemic is often referred to as affluenza, a disease of the rich that
makes them unable to understand the consequences of their behavior, but it is not in the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual, the psychology book that lists all mental disorders, which pretty much means
that it is not real: it is a made up disease (Szalavitz). Affluenza is something people use to describe
what rich kids have if their parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethan Couch of 2013, the Texas teenager who drove drunk and killed four people and injured nine
others, the affluenza defense was finally named as such. Ethan Couch was sixteen in 2013, the time of
the incident. He was allowed to stay unsupervised at his parents second home with his friends where
he decided to steal beer and become highly intoxicated. Late into the festivities, Ethan drove his seven
friends to a convenience store very erratically, speeding up to 70 mph. He wound up at the site of
another accident when he lost control of his truck and wound up killing four bystanders and causing
paralysis to a passenger of his truck (Klass). When it came time for the trial, he admitted guilt.
However, he was not going to accept the consequences. His powerhouse legal team called
psychologist Dr. G Dick Miller to the stand where he used the now famous term affluenza to explain
why Couch did what he did. According to Miller, Couch grew up in a wealthy lifestyle and had
virtually no consequences for his actions and thus was not expected to know that driving under the
influence (and under age) was prohibited by law (Klass). The prosecution for the case advocated that
Couch serve 20 years in prison, which was admittedly less than he deserved. However, he only
received ten years probation and a court required stint in a fancy rehabilitation center in California
(Szalavitz). The judge gave him quite a lenient sentence for killing four people. It would be hard to
deny that the affluenza claim by the defense did not somehow influence the sentencing, but either way,
it is despicable. The Couch family had the best lawyers for their son and that wealth spurred the claim
that none of it was his fault. Couch got away with killing four people simply because he was a wealthy
teenager with fancy lawyers who said that his parents were to blame and not him, even though he was

Marking The Streets By Frank Gallucci
Marking The Streets Frank Gallucci
What do you think of when you hear the term Street style ? For many, the term conjures up endless,
and I mean endless, images of white, middle class guys with far too much time and money on their
hands. These dandies (a man who is devoted to style) flaunt themselves from one high street coffee
chain to the next, waiting to run into a street style photographer so they can light up a cigarette and
pose pretty seductively. Would I be wrong in saying that?
Having said that, street style still manages to be about so much more. Its not all about spending hours
in front of the mirror trying to own the obligatory street style pose , which more times than one
usually ends up with you standing on one leg looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oops. In all honesty though, street style is essential to the world of fashion. It is something that drives
not only high fashion, but high street trends too. There is no doubt that when it is done properly, you
could call this an art form in itself. This is something that shows us the complex relationship that is the
real world and the world of aesthetics. And if that doesn t convince you then I think you need to take
note from a couple of guys who don t get dressed in the morning in the hopes of being snapped at they
get their morning coffee fix.
Have you ever heard of the term sprezzatura? Do you understand it? No need to worry, just ask Frank
Gallucci. But if you cant get him I guess I will do. Sprezzatura is an italian word that originated from
The Book of the Courtier . The author, Baldassare Castiglione, defines the term as a certain
nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort
and almost without any thought about it . So basically, Frank Gallucci.
This guy is proof that Italians do it better. This is a guy who has put Pitti Uomo on the street style map
good job, sir. Gallucci s regular mash up of Italian tailoring and trouser shirt combos have become his
signature and even one of the most sought after attractions at the biannual Pitti Uomo

Economic Liberalisation Of India And India
Economic liberalisation in India
India is a country which was and still is diverse in terms of cultures, languages, ethics and beliefs.
During the 1970 1990 when the British rule had just been over in India, it soon started to face
problems in their balance of payments. By the end of 1990, it was in a serious economic crisis. The
government was close to bankruptcy, the central bank of India had refused new credit and foreign
exchange reserves had been depleted to a point where India could barely finance three weeks worth of
imports which made the Indian government airlift the nations gold reserves as a pledge to the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) in exchange for a loan to cover its balance of payment debts.
The main causes of the crisis was 1) currency overvaluation,2) the current account deficit, and the
confidence of investors played a significant role in the sharp exchange rate depreciation/devaluation.
The economic crisis was primarily due to the large and growing fiscal imbalances over 1980 1985...
During 1985 1886, India started to have balance of payments problems. Precipitated by the Gulf War,
India s oil import bill increased, exports decreased, credit dried up, and investors that had invested
their money in India took their money out. Large fiscal deficits, over the time, had a huge spill over
effect on the trade deficit, culminating in an external payments crisis. By the end of the 90 s, India was
in deep economic trouble. The gross fiscal deficit of the

desire of revenge. Many of the characters have feelings of suffering and pain due to the concept of
betrayal observed throughout the novel.

After her marriage to Edgar, Catherine soon becomes so unhappy and she falls ill. Heathcliff believes
Catherine s death was self inflicted through her behavior. The death of Heathcliff s one true love
leaves him devastated. After Catherine s death, Heathcliff begs for Catherine s spirit to remain on
earth with him even if it means for her ghost to haunt him. Heathcliff cries be with me always take any
form drive me mad! [...] I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul! (Bronte 169).
This quote by Heathcliff demonstrates the intensity and desperation of his love for Catherine; he is
willing to be haunted by her spirit rather than be without her.
Young Catherine, the daughter of Catherine and Edgar, has grown up not knowing about Wuthering
Heights until one day when she is out wandering. Upon the discovery of the manor, she meets Hareton
who is the son of Catherine s brother, Hindley. Following the death of Heathcliff s wife Isabella,
Linton comes to live with his father at Wuthering Heights. Three years later, young Catherine returns
to the manor for a visit where she meets Linton. A secret romance between the two starts shortly after
meeting. As a result of the abuse from Heathcliff, Linton dies. Young Catherine and Hareton reunite
and their love for each other grows strong.

The Economic Growth of Japan
Japan may have restored sovereignty to the Emperor and updated its Feudal government to a modern
system, but its economy could not reach its potential unless Japan compensated for its need of
resources such as oil, rubber, and metals (Columbia University). The Empire of Japan, as it was called
from the Meiji Restoration until post World War Two invaded a series of countries from the late 1800
s to the 1940 s. These include the Sino Japanese War (1895), Russo Japanese War (1905) both over
Korean domination, Manchuria (1931), China (1937), and French Indochina (1940) (Columbia
University). The government was still militaristic and expansion for economic gain was the direction
Japan chose (Japan Guide). This is seen through the risks Japan took to get the benefits of the
invasions, such as Korea and its raw materials, and the supplies of Manchuria, China, and French
Indochina. Lastly, Japan wanted to go after British and Dutch colonies to help secure their defense.
The only thing standing in the way of taking these territories was the American Navy (Columbia
University). Now Japan has to gamble. However, Japan has won wars against both Russia and China
from a few decades before. Not only has Japan gained what they wanted from them, but they have
established themselves as a power and gained respect (Japan Guide). With a great sense of
Nationalism and militarism, Japan has convinced people that loyalty to the country and the ways of
Bushido, the old Samurai creed, will bring them

  • 2. Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau and the Internet As young adults, we cannot recall a life without the web. The web is young because recently it had its 25th anniversary. 25 years ago ,Tim Berners Lee and Robert Cailliau changed the world forever. According to boutell.com, In 1989, while working at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), both men made proposals for hypertext systems...And in late 1990 and early 1991, Tim Berners Lee wrote the first web browser. These men started the technology phenomena, but as time progressed, society started to become more advanced. People do not interact the same with each other. As we move on forward, the definition of a friend is lost because of the indecency of social media. The growth of social media causes people to question what a friend is because people do not understand the difference between interacting face to face, rather than socializing on the web. As more social media sites come to the market, people are social without going out. The growth of social media causes people to think, act, and interact differently, causing the meaning of friendship to be lost, because of the growth of the web. Socializing digitally contradicts socializing in the real world. Socializing digitally causes people to think differently about their friends. The generation of today is not as social as the generation of the past. People compete with each other based on their Facebook friend numbers, thinking it is a popularity contest. The reality is that Facebook friends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysing the Tallabugdera Creek Area Essays Introduction To define Burleigh heads centre to a specific place is not an easy thing to do. Burleigh as a place means so much to so many different people that without the designation of a town centre through planning, the view on which place best serves this description varies as much as the people who live and visit there. For me personally, the town centre is located along Tallebudgera Creek including Burleigh heads national park and on the opposite side, the Tallebudgera Recreation Camp all the way down to the Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park. Because of this, this is the area is what will be analysed for this essay. In order to fully understand the centre I will look at it through the theory presented in Responsive ... (Bentley, et al 1985, pg. 10) of the area. They propose that a well designed environment has a diverse range of spaces within the same environment, e.g. Houses, shops, recreational areas, etc. within the same block. (David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985). The third of the explored aspects is Legibility. This looks at how the spaces are arranged and described. It proposes that paths should be descriptive enough to describe where the route would take as well as the function a space will be used. It also proposes that routes and junctions should differ from other routes and junctions through the differing of qualities. With the designation of legible space comes understanding of the environment as well as the route to take to reach a destination without prior understanding of the special arrangements. (David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985). The fourth of the explored aspects is Robustness. This describes the ability of an area to have a multitude of uses (David Seamon 2014) (Bentley, et al 1985). Their first endeavor is to rebrand existing hotels that they have acquired in France, and sell half of the existing chain. Brunt Hotels PLC has decided to hire current employees from their UK headquarters to fill management positions in France. This project will help the company determine if they can continue their reach even further into other European countries. The success of this project is imperative to further the success of Brunt Hotels PLC to reach their objective of opening 300 hotels within the next 10 years (Robson, 2008 pg.3). • 5. Titration Of A Strong Acid It is believed that a strong acid that is titrated with a strong base will produce a resultant solution has a pH that is slightly over 7. This is because strong acids have a lower pH and solutions that are less basic than weak acids that have been titrated with strong bases. When a weak acid is titrated with a strong base it will produce a resultant solution that is well above 7 because it starts off with a higher pH. Acids and bases with high concentrations result in large changes in pH, while acids and bases with low concentrations result in smaller changes in pH. 1. The titration curve would stop at the equivalence point. This is because the indicator changes the solutions colour at this point. 2. In order to titrate with antacids (solid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would take less NaOH to neutralize CH3COOH compared with the amount of NaOH required to neutralize HCl acid. This is because acetic acid is a weak acid has a stronger conjugate base. This by product helps to raise the pH to 7, a neutral level. HCl is a strong acid and has a weaker conjugate base. This by product is not very effective in helping to neutralize the acid. CH3COOH also starts off with a higher pH since it is weaker; this means that it is closer to the neutral pH level than HCl is. 6. The pH of HCl at equivalence point is less than the pH of CH3COOH at equivalence point. This is because HCl starts at a lower pH level than CH3COOH, since it is a strong acid. 7. To classify an acid as either a strong acid or weak base you can test how they react with water. If the acid is strong, it will ionize completely. If the acid is weak it will only partially ionize when introduced to water. 9. If the acid is strong, the titration curve will have a lower equivalence point than a weak acid. If it is a monoprotic acid, there will only be one equivalence point, while polyprotic titration curves will include several equivalence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Cuban Revolution Almost every nation in the world has experienced a revolution. A revolution can be simply defined as a change. When a country undergoes a revolution, its ideals that it once believed in are being modified. Sometimes revolutionaries act intellectually, yet others may respond physically through destruction. Some may be peaceful, some short lasting, and some pointless. Historians do argue on identifying whether a revolution has occurred. Revolutions usually follow a rupture in the nation s events, are directed by a hero, have an ideology and belief system, and use symbols or tools to get its points across to the people. On December 2, 1956, eighty two men including Castro and the physician Ernesto Che Guevara, set sail once again for the Oriente on their yacht, the Granma. The campaign was doomed from the beginning. Nobody could navigate the boat properly, everybody was seasick, most of the supplies were jettisoned in a storm, and the expedition landed in the wrong place. I had a time when I was working with young people in a competition to get scholarships within the church. The competition is very hard and very physical. Most people often hear about all the potential dangers such as officer involved shootings and physical confrontations before making the choice to join the ranks of the few who will always stand for what is right. However, today there is a new danger to law enforcement known as the mass media which adds a whole new realm of difficulty to an already taxing job. One of those topics is racially motivated brutality by police officers. This has become a major issue in the United States lately and the media adds fuel to the fire any chance they can get for their 15 seconds of fame. A good example of how the media turns regular law enforcement incidents into a topic of race is the way they word their headlines. This is especially true of articles as they want catchy titles in hopes of catching the attention of readers. Getting an individual to actually take the time to read an article is tricky business today as reading is considered by many to be a lost art. What better way is there for the media to attract attention than by saying a certain race is under attack? For example, the title Man Tasered for resisting arrest probably would not garner that much attention by today s standards. However if it gets a media makeover and is now, Black man Tasered by officer for resisting arrest , it will likely receive more attention. Well, besides being called directly an Anti Christ, Meursault and Christ have another major difference that makes these two characters complete opposites in contrast to one another. In the novel Meursault willingly chooses to murder a seemingly innocent man and justifies the death of another innocent man in the Czech story. Christ himself was an innocent man who was unjustly killed. According to Thomas L. It being two days since the memorial, the red poppies were still fresh adorned on the graves of men that marched on the beaches nearby 72 years ago. It was during this once in a lifetime opportunity that though I always believed myself to have a strong love for my country, for the first time I came to understand not only what it means to be American but my responsibility to America. Arthur Andersen (AA) contributed to the Enron disaster when AA consulting became its own separate entity, named Accenture. Revenues from consulting services surpassed revenue from auditing services. Management held maximinizing revenues as their primary focus of success and promotions/bonuses were based on this factor. The CEO of AA, Joe Berardino, was an extremely aggressive pursuer of revenue. The reason the percent yield was low could be due to the loss of product. This could have happened in several ways including the loss of the organic phase during extraction where too much of the organic phase could have been extracted resulting in less of the product being formed. The lower percent yield may also be due to the reaction not going to completion, resulting in fewer product formed. Additionally, impurities in the product also yield less of the product. Incorrect measurements of the graduated cylinder may have also led to a decreased yield. Some ceramics are used in orthopaedic applications such as bone repair, bone augmentation and joint replacement but their use in this field is not as extensive or widespread as metals and polymers because ceramics have poor fracture toughness. This severely limits the use of ceramics in load bearing applications (Davis, 2003). However, being a ceramic, pyrolytic carbon is brittle and therefore once a crack has initiated, it will propagate through the material which will inevitably cause the mechanical heart valve to fail which will lead to dangerous consequences such as the death of the patient. This is highly unlikely to occur though because the increased ductility of pyrolytic carbon would make it difficult for crack initiation to occur in the first place. Along with the mechanical tests, biological tests have also shown that pyrolytic carbon also had less platelet aggregation and therefore lower risk of blood clotting occurring than other materials that were tested like titanium alloys, polycrystalline diamond. This proved that pyrolytic carbon is highly biocompatible and therefore suitable for this application as well as being safe within the body (Davis, 2003; Snyder and Helmus, 2004; Ritchie, 1996). The Importance Of Proper Sexual Education On Sex Kaislyn Lyons Mr. Ray English 1301.3 20 November 2015 The Importance of Proper Sexual Education In life, high school especially, sexual education is very important and can truly impact a person s life. Improper education on sex can lead to many life changing mistakes. These blunders can be avoided with proper knowledge. Although students should be encouraged to remain abstinent, they should still be taught about contraception and practicing safe sex. With proper sexual education, abstinence rates will increase and the numbers of teenage parents will decrease. In today s society, sex is everywhere. It is on TV, in music, in novels, magazines, and even hidden. As a teenager, peer pressure also has a very strong presence. Kids are encouraged by their peers to look a certain way, act a certain way, belief certain things, and change themselves to fit in with the norm . Whenever they do not meet the standards of society they are teased for being different. This negativity increases when it comes to the topics of sex. Just because an individual has chosen to abstain for sexual activity, they are dubbed an outcast. Their beliefs and strong morals come back to bite them in the presence of their peers. Premarital sex is often glamorized. Teens are shown that engaging in sex is cool despite the risks. This obscure view is due to a lack of information and proper education. In 1970, Sister Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept, adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing, Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli (1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. • 35. What Is The Significance Of Friday Night Lights H.G. Bissinger makes it clear that while Odessa is a unique place, the ideas he presents can be true almost anywhere: Odessa is the setting for this book, but it could be anyplace in this vast land where, on a Friday night, a set of spindly stadium lights rises to the heavens to so powerfully, and so briefly, ignite the darkness (XIV). Friday Night Lights, a book by H.G. Bissinger, is set in Odessa, a small town located in Texas, where football is revered by the entire town. Bissinger talks about the enormous effect of sports on American life and how it creates a sense of false hope (XII). Lewis H. Sports are a large part of America s culture as well as Odessa s. In Friday Night Lights, the players spend their entire lives training to be successful because sports are all they have to look forward to. During the final game of the season to make it to state, Ronnie Beavers told his team, This is the last minute of your life (326). Beavers quote shows the importance of the moment. If Permian does not win the game, they have nothing to look forward to in their future. This semi final game is much more than a game for Permian. What Beaver is saying is ridiculous, the Permian players act like Football will determine their future. By following the players and the town, Bissinger is able to show readers how important sports are in Odessa. Bissinger notes how it was obvious that the students of Permian hold the town on their shoulders (XIV). By following the story of the American small town, including many personal anecdotes, Bissinger shows the effect that sports have in Odessa. Friday Night Lights supports Lapham s claim that games represent much more than a game. It is not merely a game but a way of life. Permian players eat, breathe, and live football. Their lives are centralized around one thing: Football. Bissinger describes the town when he states, If you went to their homes, you might find black toilet seats, or black seat cushions, or black phone book covers, or black paper plates, or black clocks, or black felt on their pool tables (39). Bissinger throughout the book displays how the town revolves around sports. Everything that Odessa does is centered around the football team. The players train everyday to work to improving their record and that is all that matters to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The Stranger By Albert Camus Essay The Stranger was written by the French author Albert Camus, and was first published in 1942 in its indigenous French. It s described as being the most widely read French novel of the twentieth century, and has sold millions of copies in Britain and the United States alone. It s known by two titles; the other being The Outsider. The backstory to this is very interesting but, more importantly, the subtle difference in meaning between titles suggests certain resultant translative idiosyncrasies when reading the texts. The conciseness and terseness of the novel demands a very specific interpretation if one is to understand it correctly, and unless read in French some of the meaning is doubtless lost in translation . Even so, the main idea in The Stranger is readily accessible, and that idea is the philosophy behind meaning. Albert Camus tells states in his 1955 Preface to the American Edition of The Stranger: One would therefore not be much mistaken to read The Stranger as the story of a man who, without any heroics, agrees to die for the truth (Camus, 1955). The Stranger takes the reader on a journey that simultaneously questions meaning, and utilizes Meursault as a vehicle in finding it. Most analyses seem to define The Stranger as a foray into the Absurd , however, by the end of the novel Meursault does indeed, find meaning in his world, and we ve been led to comprehend that discovery by Camus. To validate this, we need to address how the text guides us to that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Be it because a real sentence will cause too much strain on the criminal or because someone was not told no enough times as a kid, wealthy people are getting off with little to no punishment. This epidemic is often referred to as affluenza, a disease of the rich that makes them unable to understand the consequences of their behavior, but it is not in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the psychology book that lists all mental disorders, which pretty much means that it is not real: it is a made up disease (Szalavitz). Ethan Couch of 2013, the Texas teenager who drove drunk and killed four people and injured nine others, the affluenza defense was finally named as such. Ethan Couch was sixteen in 2013, the time of the incident. He was allowed to stay unsupervised at his parents second home with his friends where he decided to steal beer and become highly intoxicated. Late into the festivities, Ethan drove his seven friends to a convenience store very erratically, speeding up to 70 mph. He wound up at the site of another accident when he lost control of his truck and wound up killing four bystanders and causing paralysis to a passenger of his truck (Klass). When it came time for the trial, he admitted guilt. However, he was not going to accept the consequences. His powerhouse legal team called psychologist Dr. G Dick Miller to the stand where he used the now famous term affluenza to explain why Couch did what he did. According to Miller, Couch grew up in a wealthy lifestyle and had virtually no consequences for his actions and thus was not expected to know that driving under the influence (and under age) was prohibited by law (Klass). The prosecution for the case advocated that Couch serve 20 years in prison, which was admittedly less than he deserved. However, he only received ten years probation and a court required stint in a fancy rehabilitation center in California (Szalavitz). The judge gave him quite a lenient sentence for killing four people. It would be hard to deny that the affluenza claim by the defense did not somehow influence the sentencing, but either way, it is despicable. The Couch family had the best lawyers for their son and that wealth spurred the claim that none of it was his fault.
