The Importance Of Curriculum Development
Curriculum Development: Theory, Meaning and Practice Xueni Li Final Project A written for EDFN
521 Dr. Rosaire Ifedi Ashland University October 14, 2017 1. Overview: The Importance of the
Curriculum Curriculum is often one of the main concerns in the educational field. What kind of
curricula should we offer to learners?...... Curriculum seems to be considered greatly as what teachers
are going to teach and, in other words, what learners are going to learn. In fact, curriculum is also
closely related to how well the learners learn the outcomes. Thus, as an umbrella term, curriculum
includes a lot of issues (Wensu, 2012, p.1). For example, what kind of content the curriculum should
have? How do teachers implement the curriculums? What about the assessment and feedback of the
curriculum? I am going to analyzing a curriculum document, the Common Core State Standards for
English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (I will call
it ELA document or ELA Standards in this paper) to shows how these issues are related to the
curriculum in the following paragraphs. 2. Why Do We Need Curriculum? Why we need a
curriculum? This is a question which has been put up by many educators. A curriculum is the essential
part of many educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities. For these institutions, they
must have their own common standards to achieve teaching and learning process in other words, to
decide what

The Goal Of Archaeological Research

Writing Assignment 1 For as long as humans have been around we have had cultural traditions
specific to our species. The goal of archaeological research is to obtain a broad understanding of
human culture. Archaeologists are interested in studying culture in the past and in the present through
material remains. Remains include anything that was created or modified for use by humans. By
studying culture in this way we gain insight into how different communities lived in different areas of
the world. We see how our ancestors lived and how culture has changed over time as our ancestors
adapted to their environments. Archaeology covers all time periods and geographic areas that humans
live or have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parenting shapes how children are raised. We need an archaeology of parenting and also an
archaeology of childhood because we have to be able to look at the two groups separately. However,
we also need to realize that these children grow up to be adults and everything they do as children and
how they are raised effects how adults live in the future. Despite childhood development being such a
big influence on who we are as adults, there has been surprisingly little attention devoted to
understanding how Neanderthal childhood was distinctive. Spikins argues that it is now crucial to
forward our understanding of children in prehistory . Traditionally, people view Neanderthal children
as having lived a dangerous and harsh life. However, a lack of recent review of this culture could
mean we are neglecting aspects of Neanderthal life that we overlooked in the past. Most research up
until now has focused on biological aspects such as growth and development by using skeletal
analysis. While this is important we have greatly neglected the social and cultural aspects of these
people s lives. Like early modern humans, Neanderthal children were born in a rather altricial state.
This would make them vulnerable and mean there had to be some type of hands on care by an older
person in the first few years of development. This could have been by the infant s biological parents or
through alloparenting however without studying the social aspects of life we wouldn t know which

Perhaps the hardest to visualize wrap around term is which covers the four corners this covers
minterms 0, 2, 8, 10.
[edit] Solution
Once the Karnaugh Map has been constructed and the groups derived, the solution can be found by
eliminating extra variables within groups using the axioms of boolean algebra. It can be implied that
rather than eliminating the variables that change within a grouping, the minimal function can be
derived by noting which variables stay the same.
For the Red grouping: * The variable A maintains the same state (1) in the whole encircling, therefore
it should be included in the term for the red encircling. * Variable B does not maintain the same state
(it shifts from 1 to 0), and should therefore be excluded. * C does not change: it is always 0. Because
C is 0, it has to be negated before it is included (thus, ). * D changes, so it is excluded as well.
Thus the first term in the Boolean sum of products expression is
For the Green grouping we see that A and B maintain the same state, but C and D change. B is 0 and
has to be negated before it can be included. Thus the second term is
In the same way, the Blue grouping gives the term
The solutions of each grouping are combined into:

The inverse of a function is solved in the same way by grouping the 0s instead.
The three terms to cover the inverse are all shown with grey boxes with different colored borders: *

Narcissism Paper
Narcissism Narcissism is the tendency to be arrogant, have a grandiose sense of self importance,
require excessive admiration and have a sense of entitlement (Robbins Judge, 2009). It is the type of
personality that doesn t fit well for a manager or someone in a leadership position. Supervisors, when
educating and training their employees, need to possess a degree of humility during communication
with them. The important component is people skills: employees must not only respect their
supervisors, but they must also feel that they are respected by their bosses. If ever a manager becomes
too enamored with himself, employees can sense this arrogance and become more apathetic to the idea
of respecting the supervisor s authority. In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Autonomy is the degree to which a job provides substantial freedom and discretion to the individual in
scheduling the work and in determining the procedures to be used in carrying it out (Robbins Judge,
2009). For organizations that specialize in work groups and teams, the component of autonomy is
necessary in order to achieve productivity and the organization s goals. Employees need to feel like
they have flexibility in their scheduling and how their work processes. Once an employee has this
ability, they become more cooperative in working with others. The perception, that the employee s
time is just as valuable as the organization s goals, gives the employee the perceived organizational
support thereby increasing their satisfaction and productivity on the job. When a supervisor shows
narcissism, this tells the employees that their concerns about how they do work and when they work
will take a back seat to the wishes of the supervisor. The supervisor becomes more in control of every
facet of the organization, which destroys any autonomy the employee once possessed. The worker,
losing autonomy, becomes less satisfied, less productive, and loses out on developing new skills. The
worker, if part of a group, drags down the rest of the team s productivity. The narcissistic personality
of the supervisor has a negative effect on the organization; his selfish attitude permeates through the
organization causing drops in productivity. Research reveals that it might be better to keep all the
conscientious, covenantal people on the same team separate from low conscientious members to
remove inequity and improve satisfaction (Fischer,

Dark They Were And Golden Eyed Analysis
There are lots of very big issues in this day and age such as pollution, global warming, and gun control
so we are considering the solution to leave Earth and start over on Mars. We should not explore Mars
and make a home there because humans could develop chronic boredom during the long trip to Mars,
the journey to Mars could take longer than our lifetimes, and because other planets were made for
specific lifeforms, not humans. Some might think that space exploration can be beneficial when it
comes to the economy, creating jobs, improving national security, and adding to our national prestige.
They might think this because there are lots of instances where exploring space has lead to helping the
nation and it inspires young students. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans have a tendency of going places they don t belong but going to another planet is a whole
different story. Paragraph 15 from the short story, Dark They Were, and Golden eyed by Ray
Bradbury, states, We don t belong here. We re Earth people. This is Mars. It was meant for Martians.
this evidence shows how Mars was not created for human life, it was created for Martians only.
Humans could mess everything up and possibly make the Martians (if there are any) go extinct by
polluting their land, or making their homes inhospitable. Also, humans could start to change
physically if they are somewhere they are not supposed to be. Paragraph 271 from the short story Dark
They Were, and Golden eyed by Ray Bradbury states, Dark people. Yellow eyes. Martians This
evidence is describing what has happened to the Earth people after a while of living on Mars. They
have changed from average people to yellow eyed Martians. Furthermore, we should not mess up a
planet that was not made for us and just stay on Earth and try to fix what we have already messed up

man. Sometime later Pip and the prisoner meet again in an unpleasant manner, the prisoner being
arrested again, while attempting to beat a man to death. Both men are arrested, Pip s name is
mentioned, and the prisoner reverberates it, almost as to instill it into his memory. Pip is sent to Satis
House, Miss Havisham s residence, where he meets Estella. Estella is arrogant, and she thinks that she
is too good for a blacksmith. So Pip decides that he wants to become a gentleman, so then maybe
Estella will want to be with him. Pip falls in love with Estella, but Miss Havisham does not approve,

services. Between March 19, 1991 and April 2, 1991, Greg Klinke and Miller discussed the possibility

recipes to prepare their dishes. The court granted the Klinkes motion for summary judgment on the

Immanuel Kafk The Hunger Artist
The hunger artist is present as separate from his audience because of his artistry and this is further
enhanced by the fact that he has chosen to seclude himself within a cage during his fasting periods.
This physical separation between him and society displays the self imposed alienation he feels is
necessary to craft. This physical separation allows him to dive deeper into his crat and his purist for
success while at the same time distancing him more from audience and their ability to understand. The
hunger artist believes that being separate from society is an essential part to being able to properly
display his craft. This willingness to be separated from society makes it increasingly harder for the
audience to truly appreciate his craft, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he is able to fast much longer than 40 days he cannot because people will lose interest. This
causes a great separation from himself and the audience because the audience is content with what
they receive but he has a goal of reach his artist limit. The fact that people lose interest so quickly
while he is trying to achieve the most out of his craft really alienates his from his audience. Although
they are content he is constantly unhappy because he is unable to reach his limits, this leaves him
always dissatisfied. When the speaker explains the process after his 40 day fast his disappointment
and frustration is shown. This is show when Kafka writes, . . . and no one had any cause to be

Theme Of Alienation In Frankenstein
People often find something wrong with things they do not view as normal, many times, these
different aspects of the world draw ire or even hatred of those around them. Similarly, it is common
that individuals within society will demean those who look, act, or sound differently. This problem
spans cultures and generations, and, as with most problems, there are noble men and women who fight
for the outside, the alienated, in different ways. One such method is through literature. In Mary
Shelley s novel Frankenstein, the monster only wants to be accepted by the human world, but man
constantly rejects him. It shows how people judge based on appearance and choose to alienate those
who fail to conform to their expectations. Throughout the story, the monster encounters different
people who all reject him because of how he appears. Victor spends two years attempting to create
life, yet when he does, he immediately hates his creation: now that I had finished, but the beauty of the
dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart (42). It is shocking how quick Victor
is to judge his own work. As soon as he comes to life and Victor sees this monstrosity that he has
created, he deems him hideous and feels his past two years were a waste of time. This shows how
superficial Victor is. He spends years of work creating life, but decides that the monstrosity he creates
is ugly and just leaves. He abandons this monster when he is in his infancy. What Victor does is

Edward De Vere And Francis Bacon Did Not Write...
Edward de Vere and Francis Bacon Did Not Write Shakespeare s Work People assume that just
because as Pruitt (2015) explains ...Nothing has been found documenting the 37 plays and 154 sonnets
(p. 1) that Shakespeare did not do his own work. Everyone believes someone else with more of an
education is the mastermind behind the plays and sonnets. Someone like Christopher Marlowe,
Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, or perhaps a group of people. To begin with, examine Francis Bacon.
Francis Bacon is a man of great importance back in the 16th and 17th century. He was famous for his
authorship much like Shakespeare. Fortunately, no one thought of him to be the type to spend his time
writing useless poetry. He was more well known for his writing screenplays. Edmondson and Wells
(2013) explain, While Bacon may have penned court entertainments, he was never suspected of
wasting time in writing poetry, and is not known to have written a single blank verse in all his life. (p.
21) With that statement alone, the Bacon theory should be dismissed. If no one knew of him writing
poetry, then there is no way he could have whipped out 154 sonnets when he was already famous. If
this does not prove anything, we can examine both Shakespeare s and Bacon s styles of writing. Bacon
did not write about nature and animals. In fact, he did not like to write about those things. In contrast,
Shakespeare s favorite thing to write about was nature and animals. Bacon was Shakespeare s
opposite, in a sense.

As a result, colleges and universities should warn their students not to post inappropriate messages or
photographs that could negatively influence an employer s perception. Many employers are aware of
social networking Web sites, and some use these sites to check for negative attributes of an applicant.
A recent New York Times article highlighted this concern: Now, college career counselors and other
experts say, some recruiters are looking up applicants on social networking sites ... where college
students often post risqué or teasing photographs and provocative comments about drinking,
recreational drug use and sexual exploits in what some mistakenly believe is relative privacy. Because
the information posted by students on social networking Web sites is often publicly viewed, colleges
should remind their students that the information they post on these sites is not private, and that
potential employers could use that information to form crucial first impressions about student
applicants. Automation, the third new media principle, relies on numerical coding and modularity to
allow for the automation of many operations involved in media creation, manipulation, and access.

Chapel Hill Accomplishments
Truthfully, I just want whoever reads my essay to know that this is a hundred percent me. I admire the
prestigious excellence of Chapel Hill and I would be more than honored to attend. Nonetheless, if I do

people which is why I am pursuing a career in the medical field. That is why going to a liberal
university such as Chapel Hill would be a fitting institution to attend. Chapel Hill is a place where I

Academic Integration Into Career Technical Education

Technical Centers that lack teachers academically certified The constructivist paradigm emphasizes
the importance of exploring how different stakeholders in a social setting construct their beliefs
(Mertens, 2015). It also suggests that learners develop a theory and gain knowledge from their

This aligns to my problem of practice, since I plan to use the case study design, conduct interviews
and review other relevant documents during the data collection phase of my research.
On the other hand, the post positivism paradigm is comparative to my problem of practice as well.
Post positivists believe that researchers can be influenced by previous knowledge or background as
they seek to verify information. Objectivity must be adhered to and procedures strictly followed so
that personal bias does not influence outcomes during the research process (Mertens, 2015). Verifying
information about academic integration and increased student achievement in my problem of practice
could lead to the identification of relationships and prove or disprove the what questions. For example,
what evidence exists that the integration of academics into CTE courses at shared time centers has
resulted in positive educational outcomes? Does the information related to the question need to be
verified? Or does it just make logical sense that academic integration improves student achievement?
If the phenomenon is verified, who will benefit? With my background and experience in CTE and
academic integration as a teacher and administrator, true objective knowledge may be difficult to
achieve, but I believe it can be done with careful planning and by following strict procedures. Also,
the quantitative method for research and data collection is normally predominant in the

Improvement in the uniformity of the magnetic film surface to increase disk reliability. A significant
reduction in overall surface defects to help reduce read/write errors. Ability to support lower fly

Thus, the capacity of a track and the rotational delay both increase for positions nearer the outer edge
of the disk. 12 What differences between CD and DVD account for the larger capacity of the latter? 1.
Bits are packed more closely on a DVD. The spacing between loops of a spiral on a CD is 1.6 µm and
the minimum distance between pits along the spiral is 0.834 µm. The DVD uses a laser with shorter
wavelength and achieves a loop spacing of 0.74 µm and a minimum distance between pits of 0.4 µm.
The result of these two improvements is about a seven fold increase in capacity, to about 4.7 GB. 2.
The DVD employs a second layer of pits and lands on top of the first layer A dual layer DVD has a
semireflective layer on top of the reflective layer, and by adjusting focus, the lasers in DVD drives can
read each layer separately. This technique almost doubles the capacity of the disk, to about 8.5 GB.
The lower reflectivity of the second layer limits its storage capacity so that a full doubling is not
achieved. 3. The DVD ROM can be two sided whereas data is recorded on only one side of a CD. This
brings total capacity up to 17 GB. 13 Explain serpentine recording The typical recording technique
used in serial tapes is referred to as serpentine recording. In this technique, when data are being
recorded, the first set of bits is recorded along the whole length of the tape. When the end of the tape
is reached, the heads are repositioned to record a new track, and the

The Challenges Of The Italian Unification Of Italy
The Italian Unification is a time period during which Italy becomes unified as one country. While
trying to unify the country there were obstacles faced and conquered by Mazzini, Cavour, and
Garibaldi as they continued to unify Italy. They pushed Nationalism on the people. The problems that
were faced during the time of the unification were the Austrian occupation of Lombardy and Venice.
Also, the land still belonged to the Pope and not the government which meant that it did not really
belong to everyone and didn t symbolize unification. The last problem is there is an existence of many
independent states which means there were states ruling themselves. One of the major people involved
in the unification of Italy is Giuseppe Mazzini. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He helped unite Italy into one country and was considered a revolutionary hero. Throughout his time
as a revolutionary hero he faces some challenges, for instance, when he was supposed to take over a
war ship and instead he ended up being caught by the police. He was supposed to be sentenced to
death but he managed to escape and flee to South America for twelve years. Garibaldi decided to
move to North America and in the same year went back to Italy. In Italy, they started calling him
Risorgimento which meant revival. He was called this because he came back to help change Italy and
make it one country. In Italy, he partners with the king of Sardinia, Victor Emmanuel II and politically
left Mazzani. In order to unite Italy, they forced the Austrians into the Alps. France took the last
territory, called the Papal states. With that Garibaldi was able to push the unification to finally happen.
The Italian Unification brought a rise to Nationalism. Nationalism is when a nation is joined together
in ways of government, leaders, or religion. Nationalism is Italy gives freedom of press and power to
the government or one ruler. This is exactly what had been done in the Italian Unification. They united
under one rule and became a singular country. They also received freedom of the press and a new
Parliament during the time of Camillo di Cavour. Mazzini, Cavour, and Garibaldi all used their ideas
to help with the unification witch

Managing diversity and demographical changes in the workplace presents many dilemmas.
Confronted with constant change, management, business educators, and organizational consultants
continue to meet the challenges of a new and diverse workforce in a number of ways. Diversity can be
defined in numerous ways. Diversity includes all the ways in which people differ, and it encompasses
all the different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another. It is all
inclusive and recognizes every individual and every group as part of the diversity that should be

That unceasing mockery made me feel insecure about who I was and where I came from.
As I got older, my insecurity changed to a positive nature because of the sense of belonging in an
environment where everyone came from the very same ethnic background at the private yeshiva for
girls where I was enrolled for the duration of my high school years. I was constantly exposed to the
multifarious cultures in our society due to leading a life of living in two worlds, my religious
environment with my family in one and my socialization with my deaf friends who came from a
variety of ethnic background in another. For what I was exposed with growing up has brought my
sense of understanding and respect for ethnicity into perspective. I love learning about others and
sharing about mine as well as long as the feelings are mutual. The way I behave affects others
behaviors towards me. This allows for an amicable and friendly relationship with my fellow peers
personally and professionally.
With respect to the differences in maintaining skills and abilities, an individual s behavior can be
impacted by its own capabilities or lack thereof. Awareness of one s physical ability and skill can
enhance how one behaves. Maintaining skills is a learned power of doing something competently such
as speaking fluently using proper form of language or the memory of mixing drinks. Maintaining

each person has a defined responsibility , once you have completed your role you no longer have a say
in what happens to the project at the next level, thus no one is individually responsible . Bad choices
are made because of the blind following of power . Managers from the United States may have the

reason, managers have no authority to affect the final outcome of a project. The lack of autonomy
creates a lack of achievement and satisfaction which Americans value. From a business standpoint, if a
country such as France, scores high in power distance, there is a tendency to have more male
controlled traditions. As a result, managerial positions are typically held by men, and the women who
do hold leadership positions experience negativity. Considering the United States scored a 40 in power

Communication is something that is very important in creating that unified front. It is important to set
aside alone time with both biological and stepchildren. It allows you to have key one on one time that
will establish a sense of belonging to the child. Another example of this is to have family meetings.
This gives everyone an opportunity to express their opinions, vent and encourage them to contribute
their input on important family events and day to day life. Family meetings will also show the parents
working as a team.
Communication is a key factor in any family, but much more so in a blended family. Not only do the
children need to communicate with their biological parents, they also need to feel comfortable
communicating to with their stepparents. Communication between each set of parents is also essential.
This leads us into co parenting. Co parenting is important because it keeps all the parents on the same
page for discipline, activities, grades, and so forth. The rules and regulations that are enforced at one
parent s house need to be implemented at the other s. If this does not happen, the children will learn
how to play one parent off the other. Sometimes a child is more likely to confide in a stepparent
because it is not their real mom or dad and they feel more comfortable. It is important that the step
parent communicate to their spouse

Kendrick Lamar
I think when correlating race and social justice with music my brain goes to Kendrick Lamar
immediately for a few reasons; he is openly mad about the treatment of African Americans in modern
day America, he does excessive community outreach in Compton, and his lyrics combine soulful
African music and new age raps about his struggles in an oppressive society. He is the new voice of
Compton, filling in big shoes for Tupac and Snoop Dogg.
His sophomore album, To Pimp a Butterfly, explores institutional and internalized racism. Butterflies

Lamar mocks Washington politicians with the names of gangs in his native Los Angeles, berating
them as DemoCrips and ReBloodlicans and declaring: They give us guns and drugs, call us thugs. But
underneath the album s bravado lies an introspection. Lamar repeatedly raps about overcoming
depression and finding self love. On Mortal Man, Lamar speaks of his survivor s guilt at escaping the
inner city only to be embroiled at what he described as a new struggle against discrimination.
One of Kendrick Lamar s singles I emulates self love in a society where that is frowned upon,
especially in the black community. He celebrates himself and encourages others to do so through this
uplifting and cheerful song. It is one of great contrast to many of his other more serious songs, but it s
message is still just as powerful. It s lyrics read, I love myself (the world is a ghetto with guns and
picket signs). It acknowledges the problems of the world while remaining ironically

Great Wave Off Kanagawa Essay
An art work has many elements and principles to it. These are known as elements and principles of
design. The print The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has many elements and principles of
design that show how much the artist used them in his work.
The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has all the elements of design. For example, one of the
best aspects of the print is Hokusai s utilization of line to create both motion and space in the wave
(NGA). The curves of the wave and body of one boat drop just low enough to allow the base of Mount
Fuji to be visible, and the white top of the great wave creates a diagonal line that leads the viewer s
eye directly to the peak of the mountain top (Harris). The dramatically curved, upwards line of the
wave frames the mountain, whilst the jagged ends act as claws which almost personify the waves into
a hunter grasping at its prey; the frail, delicate fishing boats seem to have no chance against the water
(Ladkin). There are many ways in which Hokusai uses line in The Great Wave off Kanagawa .
Another element of design that Hokusai uses in The Great Wave is shape. For example, there are small
C shaped fingers of water that are thrown forward of the great curve as it arcs to its thunderous
completion (CC). The threatening wave is about to splash down and take over the boats ... Show more

of the space of the painting. The dramatically curved line of the wave perfectly frames the distant
Mount Fuji, and is suspended in time like a huge paw with multiple foam claws about to grasp the
frail fishing boats (Louviq). The details are still greatly appreciated even though the print is small. The
size of the painting isn t really relevant to how detailed and greatly appreciated this work of art

Breughel s Icarus By Michael Hamburger
Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on
Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting should be analyzed and
the myth of Icarus should be known. Hamburger uses specific diction and attitude for purpose, and the
shift between the first and second stanza is noticeable.
In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who would be close to the fallen Icarus: the
ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeed in recognizing the rise and fall of Icarus
as they we absorbed in their own task, immersed in thought. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman

From labeling the observations of the characters, the second stanza mentions the actual events that
happed with a bitterness. Too late is the first sentence of the stanza, and gives off the vibe that no
longer there is a chance for redemption, and only ultimate doom is guaranteed. The short intonations
add to the effect, making it concrete fact in the readers mind. But what is too late? The shepherd s
observation or the option Icarus chose? Perhaps it was the shepherd s fault or the other characters fault
for failing to make the observations to save the angel, Icarus . Nevertheless, Icarus made his choice for
ever failed , Fallen with melted wings when, near the sun/ He scorned the ordering planet, which
prevailed to challenge superior forces, the sun and heat. Icarus was so captivated by flight that his
passion became his doom. Hamburger approaches this angle but as he uses the word scorn , it s as if
Icarus did it to spite the gods and his father with his magnificence. In the end, the planet won, jeering,
now slinks off, to rise once more . This phrase personifies the sun, giving an attitude of sweet victory
over the ignorant challenger at the end of the day. In the painting, the sun, itself, is setting, only to rise

Comparing The Tortilla Curtain And Child, In The Rose Garden
The social commentaries in both The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle and Child, Dead, in the Rose
Garden by E.L. Doctorow unveils the true reality of the American Government and the social injustice
of the American society. In the Tortilla Curtain, T.C. Boyle took upon an adventure of two illegal
immigrants from Mexico who faced the unsettling truth of the social class system of America. But In
Child, Dead, in a Rose Garden E.L. Doctorow expresses the injustice of the Government and their
ability to blindside the public with fraudulent information. Both of these writings apply a different
structure, which can ultimately show the differences on such similar ideas. The authors E.L Doctorow
and T.C.Boyle write about two very different topics. One story shows just how does the social class
system work, and the interaction between immigration and immigrants. While E.L. Doctorow s writes
about a death of a young man which was the symbol of what would change America. Now aside from
the plots themselves, they share similar ideas, like the viewpoint of they always win and the unsettling
reality on the rulings of the Government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Gung-Ho Movie and Hofstede
GUNG HO Gung Ho is a movie about the takeover of an American automobile factory in Hadleyville,
Pennsylvania by a Japanese company. The term Gung Ho is a Chinese expression for work together
which is what the movie is about. As the Americans and Japanese attempt to work together the
viewers are able to see the cross cultural conflicts and huge misunderstandings that happen throughout
the movie because of the differences in culture, work attitude, management styles, and values between
the two countries. The movie also goes on to show us exactly what the two countries think of each

His American boss thinks that this is fine but the Japanese boss says no because work will suffer . This
shows you how different countries see things. The Americans think of family concern over the
concern of the company, whereas the Japanese think that being part of a group is a must and so not
working because of your son going to the doctor is not something you should do, This brings us right
to collectivism. Collectivism is doing something not just for yourself but for the good of everyone
involved. It has nothing to do with the individual and everything to do with the overall group s
success. This is what the Japanese value highly. They always reinforce this throughout the movie
about how they will do whatever it takes for the company to do good. One of many examples of this is
when the Japanese show up to play the softball game. Before the game starts you see the Japanese
team working together and participating in a team warm up. The Americans make fun of this and think
of it as something that makes them weaker. When the game starts you are able to see exactly how this
hurts the Americans. The Japanese play a small ball game and worry about getting runners on base and
relying on everyone working together to get runs on the board. The Americans, who are less team
oriented, try to do everything themselves and try to hit the ball as far and hard as they can every time
they come up to bat.

Ongoing Urbanization Is Changing the Shape of Mobility in...
In densely populated areas, we currently see a paradigm shift in personal mobility. For the younger
generation, car usership is gradually replacing the need of car ownership.
However, for example, when relying on car sharing solutions, users often spontaneously drive cars
they are not used to. Results are increased stress and a higher risk of accidents. For that reason, we
present a mobile application based training solution for vehicular user interfaces. The evaluation of the
training application has shown that a short training cannot counteract the negative influence of
operating comfort car functions while driving. The use of game design elements in the application in
creased the training motivation, but also lowered the information reception. The ongoing urbanization
is changing the shape of mobility in tomorrow s cities. Especially in large and congested cities, the
need of owning a car is gradually decreasing with the rise of new intermodal door to door mobility
solutions. In a recent survey by KPMG 1 , only 46 % of younger consumers
( 25 years) rated that owning a car is extremely or very important for them, opposed to 76 % for 25 to
35 years and
78 % for 35 to 50 years old consumers. For the younger generation, mobility has to fulfil the three key
aspects spon taneity, flexibility, and sustainability [1]. In order to fulfil the demands, modern mobility
as a service (MaaS) solutions have to combine public transportation with means of individual
transportation. One

  • 2. The Importance Of Curriculum Development Curriculum Development: Theory, Meaning and Practice Xueni Li Final Project A written for EDFN 521 Dr. Rosaire Ifedi Ashland University October 14, 2017 1. Overview: The Importance of the Curriculum Curriculum is often one of the main concerns in the educational field. What kind of curricula should we offer to learners?...... Curriculum seems to be considered greatly as what teachers are going to teach and, in other words, what learners are going to learn. In fact, curriculum is also closely related to how well the learners learn the outcomes. Thus, as an umbrella term, curriculum includes a lot of issues (Wensu, 2012, p.1). For example, what kind of content the curriculum should have? How do teachers implement the curriculums? What about the assessment and feedback of the curriculum? I am going to analyzing a curriculum document, the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (I will call it ELA document or ELA Standards in this paper) to shows how these issues are related to the curriculum in the following paragraphs. 2. Why Do We Need Curriculum? Why we need a curriculum? This is a question which has been put up by many educators. A curriculum is the essential part of many educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities. For these institutions, they must have their own common standards to achieve teaching and learning process in other words, to decide what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Goal Of Archaeological Research Lindsey Grissom Anth 265 2/3/2016 Taylor Writing Assignment 1 For as long as humans have been around we have had cultural traditions specific to our species. The goal of archaeological research is to obtain a broad understanding of human culture. Archaeologists are interested in studying culture in the past and in the present through material remains. Remains include anything that was created or modified for use by humans. By studying culture in this way we gain insight into how different communities lived in different areas of the world. We see how our ancestors lived and how culture has changed over time as our ancestors adapted to their environments. Archaeology covers all time periods and geographic areas that humans live or have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parenting shapes how children are raised. We need an archaeology of parenting and also an archaeology of childhood because we have to be able to look at the two groups separately. However, we also need to realize that these children grow up to be adults and everything they do as children and how they are raised effects how adults live in the future. Despite childhood development being such a big influence on who we are as adults, there has been surprisingly little attention devoted to understanding how Neanderthal childhood was distinctive. Spikins argues that it is now crucial to forward our understanding of children in prehistory . Traditionally, people view Neanderthal children as having lived a dangerous and harsh life. However, a lack of recent review of this culture could mean we are neglecting aspects of Neanderthal life that we overlooked in the past. Most research up until now has focused on biological aspects such as growth and development by using skeletal analysis. While this is important we have greatly neglected the social and cultural aspects of these people s lives. Like early modern humans, Neanderthal children were born in a rather altricial state. This would make them vulnerable and mean there had to be some type of hands on care by an older person in the first few years of development. This could have been by the infant s biological parents or through alloparenting however without studying the social aspects of life we wouldn t know which was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps the hardest to visualize wrap around term is which covers the four corners this covers minterms 0, 2, 8, 10. [edit] Solution Once the Karnaugh Map has been constructed and the groups derived, the solution can be found by eliminating extra variables within groups using the axioms of boolean algebra. It can be implied that rather than eliminating the variables that change within a grouping, the minimal function can be derived by noting which variables stay the same. For the Red grouping: * The variable A maintains the same state (1) in the whole encircling, therefore it should be included in the term for the red encircling. * Variable B does not maintain the same state (it shifts from 1 to 0), and should therefore be excluded. * C does not change: it is always 0. Because C is 0, it has to be negated before it is included (thus, ). * D changes, so it is excluded as well. Thus the first term in the Boolean sum of products expression is For the Green grouping we see that A and B maintain the same state, but C and D change. B is 0 and has to be negated before it can be included. Thus the second term is In the same way, the Blue grouping gives the term The solutions of each grouping are combined into: [edit] Inverse The inverse of a function is solved in the same way by grouping the 0s instead. • 5. Narcissism Paper Narcissism Narcissism is the tendency to be arrogant, have a grandiose sense of self importance, require excessive admiration and have a sense of entitlement (Robbins Judge, 2009). It is the type of personality that doesn t fit well for a manager or someone in a leadership position. Supervisors, when educating and training their employees, need to possess a degree of humility during communication with them. The important component is people skills: employees must not only respect their supervisors, but they must also feel that they are respected by their bosses. If ever a manager becomes too enamored with himself, employees can sense this arrogance and become more apathetic to the idea of respecting the supervisor s authority. In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Autonomy is the degree to which a job provides substantial freedom and discretion to the individual in scheduling the work and in determining the procedures to be used in carrying it out (Robbins Judge, 2009). For organizations that specialize in work groups and teams, the component of autonomy is necessary in order to achieve productivity and the organization s goals. Employees need to feel like they have flexibility in their scheduling and how their work processes. Once an employee has this ability, they become more cooperative in working with others. The perception, that the employee s time is just as valuable as the organization s goals, gives the employee the perceived organizational support thereby increasing their satisfaction and productivity on the job. When a supervisor shows narcissism, this tells the employees that their concerns about how they do work and when they work will take a back seat to the wishes of the supervisor. The supervisor becomes more in control of every facet of the organization, which destroys any autonomy the employee once possessed. The worker, losing autonomy, becomes less satisfied, less productive, and loses out on developing new skills. The worker, if part of a group, drags down the rest of the team s productivity. The narcissistic personality of the supervisor has a negative effect on the organization; his selfish attitude permeates through the organization causing drops in productivity. Research reveals that it might be better to keep all the conscientious, covenantal people on the same team separate from low conscientious members to remove inequity and improve satisfaction (Fischer, ... Dark They Were And Golden Eyed Analysis There are lots of very big issues in this day and age such as pollution, global warming, and gun control so we are considering the solution to leave Earth and start over on Mars. We should not explore Mars and make a home there because humans could develop chronic boredom during the long trip to Mars, the journey to Mars could take longer than our lifetimes, and because other planets were made for specific lifeforms, not humans. Some might think that space exploration can be beneficial when it comes to the economy, creating jobs, improving national security, and adding to our national prestige. It was meant for Martians. this evidence shows how Mars was not created for human life, it was created for Martians only. Humans could mess everything up and possibly make the Martians (if there are any) go extinct by polluting their land, or making their homes inhospitable. Also, humans could start to change physically if they are somewhere they are not supposed to be. Paragraph 271 from the short story Dark They Were, and Golden eyed by Ray Bradbury states, Dark people. Yellow eyes. Martians This evidence is describing what has happened to the Earth people after a while of living on Mars. They have changed from average people to yellow eyed Martians. Theme Of Alienation In Frankenstein People often find something wrong with things they do not view as normal, many times, these different aspects of the world draw ire or even hatred of those around them. Similarly, it is common that individuals within society will demean those who look, act, or sound differently. This problem spans cultures and generations, and, as with most problems, there are noble men and women who fight for the outside, the alienated, in different ways. One such method is through literature. In Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein, the monster only wants to be accepted by the human world, but man constantly rejects him. It shows how people judge based on appearance and choose to alienate those who fail to conform to their expectations. Throughout the story, the monster encounters different people who all reject him because of how he appears. Victor spends two years attempting to create life, yet when he does, he immediately hates his creation: now that I had finished, but the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart (42). It is shocking how quick Victor is to judge his own work. As soon as he comes to life and Victor sees this monstrosity that he has created, he deems him hideous and feels his past two years were a waste of time. This shows how superficial Victor is. Edward de Vere and Francis Bacon Did Not Write Shakespeare s Work People assume that just because as Pruitt (2015) explains ...Nothing has been found documenting the 37 plays and 154 sonnets (p. 1) that Shakespeare did not do his own work. Everyone believes someone else with more of an education is the mastermind behind the plays and sonnets. Someone like Christopher Marlowe, Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, or perhaps a group of people. To begin with, examine Francis Bacon. Francis Bacon is a man of great importance back in the 16th and 17th century. He was famous for his authorship much like Shakespeare. Fortunately, no one thought of him to be the type to spend his time writing useless poetry. He was more well known for his writing screenplays. Edmondson and Wells (2013) explain, While Bacon may have penned court entertainments, he was never suspected of wasting time in writing poetry, and is not known to have written a single blank verse in all his life. (p. 21) With that statement alone, the Bacon theory should be dismissed. If no one knew of him writing poetry, then there is no way he could have whipped out 154 sonnets when he was already famous. If this does not prove anything, we can examine both Shakespeare s and Bacon s styles of writing. Bacon did not write about nature and animals. In fact, he did not like to write about those things. In contrast, Shakespeare s favorite thing to write about was nature and animals. Bacon was Shakespeare s opposite, in a sense. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, the capacity of a track and the rotational delay both increase for positions nearer the outer edge of the disk. 12 What differences between CD and DVD account for the larger capacity of the latter? 1. Bits are packed more closely on a DVD. The spacing between loops of a spiral on a CD is 1.6 µm and the minimum distance between pits along the spiral is 0.834 µm. The DVD uses a laser with shorter wavelength and achieves a loop spacing of 0.74 µm and a minimum distance between pits of 0.4 µm. The result of these two improvements is about a seven fold increase in capacity, to about 4.7 GB. 2. The DVD employs a second layer of pits and lands on top of the first layer A dual layer DVD has a semireflective layer on top of the reflective layer, and by adjusting focus, the lasers in DVD drives can read each layer separately. This technique almost doubles the capacity of the disk, to about 8.5 GB. The lower reflectivity of the second layer limits its storage capacity so that a full doubling is not achieved. 3. Sometimes a child is more likely to confide in a stepparent because it is not their real mom or dad and they feel more comfortable. It is important that the step parent communicate to their spouse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Kendrick Lamar Research Paper Kendrick Lamar I think when correlating race and social justice with music my brain goes to Kendrick Lamar immediately for a few reasons; he is openly mad about the treatment of African Americans in modern day America, he does excessive community outreach in Compton, and his lyrics combine soulful African music and new age raps about his struggles in an oppressive society. He is the new voice of Compton, filling in big shoes for Tupac and Snoop Dogg. His sophomore album, To Pimp a Butterfly, explores institutional and internalized racism. Butterflies are beautiful and full of color. Butterflies are so beautiful, they can t be made any more so. They can t be manipulated, exploited, controlled, or confined. Lamar mocks Washington politicians with the names of gangs in his native Los Angeles, berating them as DemoCrips and ReBloodlicans and declaring: They give us guns and drugs, call us thugs. But underneath the album s bravado lies an introspection. Lamar repeatedly raps about overcoming depression and finding self love. On Mortal Man, Lamar speaks of his survivor s guilt at escaping the inner city only to be embroiled at what he described as a new struggle against discrimination. One of Kendrick Lamar s singles I emulates self love in a society where that is frowned upon, especially in the black community. He celebrates himself and encourages others to do so through this uplifting and cheerful song. It is one of great contrast to many of his other more serious songs, but it s message is still just as powerful. It s lyrics read, I love myself (the world is a ghetto with guns and picket signs). It acknowledges the problems of the world while remaining ironically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Great Wave Off Kanagawa Essay An art work has many elements and principles to it. These are known as elements and principles of design. The print The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has many elements and principles of design that show how much the artist used them in his work. The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has all the elements of design. For example, one of the best aspects of the print is Hokusai s utilization of line to create both motion and space in the wave (NGA). The curves of the wave and body of one boat drop just low enough to allow the base of Mount Fuji to be visible, and the white top of the great wave creates a diagonal line that leads the viewer s eye directly to the peak of the mountain top (Harris). The dramatically curved, upwards line of the wave frames the mountain, whilst the jagged ends act as claws which almost personify the waves into a hunter grasping at its prey; the frail, delicate fishing boats seem to have no chance against the water (Ladkin). There are many ways in which Hokusai uses line in The Great Wave off Kanagawa . Another element of design that Hokusai uses in The Great Wave is shape. For example, there are small C shaped fingers of water that are thrown forward of the great curve as it arcs to its thunderous completion (CC). The threatening wave is about to splash down and take over the boats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its dimensions are 10 1/8 x 14 15/16 in. (Metropolitan Museum of Art). However, the size of the painting doesn t affect the details noticed. The eye is first caught by the huge wave which takes up half of the space of the painting. The dramatically curved line of the wave perfectly frames the distant Mount Fuji, and is suspended in time like a huge paw with multiple foam claws about to grasp the frail fishing boats (Louviq). The details are still greatly appreciated even though the print is small. The size of the painting isn t really relevant to how detailed and greatly appreciated this work of art ... • 31. Breughel s Icarus By Michael Hamburger Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting should be analyzed and the myth of Icarus should be known. Hamburger uses specific diction and attitude for purpose, and the shift between the first and second stanza is noticeable. In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who would be close to the fallen Icarus: the ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeed in recognizing the rise and fall of Icarus as they we absorbed in their own task, immersed in thought. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman dreams of fish;/ Aloft, the sailor . Hearing the wings of the hero s, the shepherd was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From labeling the observations of the characters, the second stanza mentions the actual events that happed with a bitterness. Too late is the first sentence of the stanza, and gives off the vibe that no longer there is a chance for redemption, and only ultimate doom is guaranteed. The short intonations add to the effect, making it concrete fact in the readers mind. But what is too late? The shepherd s observation or the option Icarus chose? Perhaps it was the shepherd s fault or the other characters fault for failing to make the observations to save the angel, Icarus . Nevertheless, Icarus made his choice for ever failed , Fallen with melted wings when, near the sun/ He scorned the ordering planet, which prevailed to challenge superior forces, the sun and heat. Icarus was so captivated by flight that his passion became his doom. Hamburger approaches this angle but as he uses the word scorn , it s as if Icarus did it to spite the gods and his father with his magnificence. In the end, the planet won, jeering, now slinks off, to rise once more . This phrase personifies the sun, giving an attitude of sweet victory over the ignorant challenger at the end of the day. In the painting, the sun, itself, is setting, only to rise the next morning as it always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Comparing The Tortilla Curtain And Child, In The Rose Garden The social commentaries in both The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle and Child, Dead, in the Rose Garden by E.L. Doctorow unveils the true reality of the American Government and the social injustice of the American society. In the Tortilla Curtain, T.C. Boyle took upon an adventure of two illegal immigrants from Mexico who faced the unsettling truth of the social class system of America. But In Child, Dead, in a Rose Garden E.L. Doctorow expresses the injustice of the Government and their ability to blindside the public with fraudulent information. Both of these writings apply a different structure, which can ultimately show the differences on such similar ideas. The authors E.L Doctorow and T.C.Boyle write about two very different topics. One story shows just how does the social class system work, and the interaction between immigration and immigrants. While E.L. Doctorow s writes about a death of a young man which was the symbol of what would change America. Now aside from the plots themselves, they share similar ideas, like the viewpoint of they always win and the unsettling reality on the rulings of the Government. ... The term Gung Ho is a Chinese expression for work together which is what the movie is about. As the Americans and Japanese attempt to work together the viewers are able to see the cross cultural conflicts and huge misunderstandings that happen throughout the movie because of the differences in culture, work attitude, management styles, and values between the two countries. The movie also goes on to show us exactly what the two countries think of each other. His American boss thinks that this is fine but the Japanese boss says no because work will suffer . This shows you how different countries see things. The Americans think of family concern over the concern of the company, whereas the Japanese think that being part of a group is a must and so not working because of your son going to the doctor is not something you should do, This brings us right to collectivism. Collectivism is doing something not just for yourself but for the good of everyone involved. It has nothing to do with the individual and everything to do with the overall group s success. This is what the Japanese value highly. They always reinforce this throughout the movie about how they will do whatever it takes for the company to do good. One of many examples of this is when the Japanese show up to play the softball game. Before the game starts you see the Japanese team working together and participating in a team warm up. The Americans make fun of this and think of it as something that makes them weaker. When the game starts you are able to see exactly how this hurts the Americans. The Japanese play a small ball game and worry about getting runners on base and relying on everyone working together to get runs on the board. The Americans, who are less team oriented, try to do everything themselves and try to hit the ball as far and hard as they can every time they come up to bat. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Ongoing Urbanization Is Changing the Shape of Mobility in... In densely populated areas, we currently see a paradigm shift in personal mobility. For the younger generation, car usership is gradually replacing the need of car ownership. However, for example, when relying on car sharing solutions, users often spontaneously drive cars they are not used to. Results are increased stress and a higher risk of accidents. For that reason, we present a mobile application based training solution for vehicular user interfaces. The evaluation of the training application has shown that a short training cannot counteract the negative influence of operating comfort car functions while driving. The use of game design elements in the application in creased the training motivation, but also lowered the information reception. The ongoing urbanization is changing the shape of mobility in tomorrow s cities. Especially in large and congested cities, the need of owning a car is gradually decreasing with the rise of new intermodal door to door mobility solutions. In a recent survey by KPMG 1 , only 46 % of younger consumers ( 25 years) rated that owning a car is extremely or very important for them, opposed to 76 % for 25 to 35 years and 78 % for 35 to 50 years old consumers. For the younger generation, mobility has to fulfil the three key aspects spon taneity, flexibility, and sustainability [1]. In order to fulfil the demands, modern mobility as a service (MaaS) solutions have to combine public transportation with means of individual transportation. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
