EVALUATION
ACTIVITY 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from it
to the full product
PLANNING
- Looking back at my preliminary task compared to our actual production their
were a few similarities and differences. I did my preliminary task with a
separate group which is why I say ‘my’ preliminary task.
- For the preliminary we were only allowed a short amount of time for pre-
production. In this time we included planning for the narrative, location and
dialogue making sure all the requirements were ticked. Since we only had
around 20 minutes to plan and 20 minutes to film our preliminary it was not as
of a high standard as our final product which we took much longer with and
put in days of work into.
- Four our mysterious thriller the pre-production stage took around four weeks
where we got our ideas together while blogging them on our group blog. We
also researched the genre in great detail and I made a questionnaire to ask
people what they think about thrillers.
- This allowed us to have the right amount of information to go ahead and get
planning seriously by coming up with locations and dialogue used by actors.
This helped us improve the final product.
Preliminary VS Final
product
We did not use any similar shots apart from
Back shots and that was to show another
character in the preliminary and in the final
product it was used to show a character running
away from the camera to create effect.
 Overall I feel more confident with the equipment we used as in
the preliminary we only used the DSLR but in the final product
we used the Rode microphone , Windbreaker , Tripod.
Although the preliminary task did help me prepare for filming
with my actual production group I found that I only knew the
very basics of filming and while working with my classmates I
picked up skills from them like how to use the tripod efficiently
and how to use the microphone effectively which all
contributed to the finished product. The preliminary did help
and without it, it would have made the production process
slightly longer as we would have to figure out more on the
actual day that we filmed and we were short of time on that
day anyway so we would of found ourselves struggling for
time even more.
