The Role Of Perfectionism In Eating Disorders
When perfectionist behaviour can be considered as a state that is under conscious control, it can
be deemed as merely a healthy desire to excel (Eusanio, Thomson, and Jaque, 2014). However, if
perfectionism is a personality trait, it cannot be consciously controlled and has been proven to
show positive correlations with mental illness such as anxiety and depression (Enns and Cox,
2002, cited in Stoeber, Otto, and Dalbert, 2009b). Self oriented perfectionism in dancers and a fear
of failure can lead to injury, depression, and other psychological disorders such as anxiety and
possible eating disorders (Eusanio, Thomson, and Jaque, 2014).
Perfectionism in dancers tends to be considered a common personality type, as they are often

Their study aimed to enhance the understanding of injury by examining the effect it has on self
esteem. Their research consisted of asking 216 dancers to complete an Injury Monitoring
Questionnaire (2005, cited in Nordin Bates, et al., 2011), a Dance Imagery Questionnaire (2006,
cited in Nordin Bates, et al., 2011), an Athletic Injury Imagery Questionnaire 2 (2000, cited in
Nordin Bates, et al., 2011) and the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (1965, cited in Nordin Bates, et
al., 2011). The results of the study displayed no significant effect of injury upon self esteem
however, they state this may be due to the lack of severely injured dancers in the study. Therefore,
the result may have been different if there were more dancers involved in the research suffering
from long term injuries. Additionally, Nordin Bates, et al., (2011) may have received different
results had state self esteem been measured rather than trait self esteem, which is considered as
generally being more stable

Essay On Analgesic Neepopathy
disease called analgesic nephropathy (Henrich). Analgesic nephropathy is a chronic kidney
disease that gradually leads to kidney failure. The negative effects of taking painkillers helps
show the reasons medicine can be dangerous if taken for a long period of time. Along with
substance abuse problems, many soldiers home have problems sleeping. I used to fall asleep so
easily during my deployment, even with all the loud noises and 24/7 commotion, but now that I m
back and in a quiet, comfortable bedroom, I just can t seem to fall asleep at night ( Trouble

The therapy reminds them of the positives of their situation and helps them look at life with a
different view. Instead of medical treatment, one type of therapy veterans can do is group
therapy. Veterans can be put in group therapy which allows them all to share their experiences.
This helps them not only try to cope with their past, but also improves their social skills.
Cognitive Process Therapy is another type of non medical treatment that helps veterans take their
traumatic event and view it as an event that helped them in a more positive outlook. CPT helps
you by giving you a new way to handle these distressing thoughts and to gain an understanding of
these events. By using the skills learned in this therapy, you can learn why recovery from
traumatic events has been hard for you ( PTSD: National Center for PTSD ). Prolonged Exposure
Therapy is similar to CPT and is for those who experience Trauma. It focuses on Education and
learning more about the symptoms, breathing to help relax, real world practice for events the
patient will avoid, and being talked through the trauma. PE allows for the patient to control what
happens in their life and how they feel, not their memories. All of these different forms of talk
therapy help the patient learn how to relax while experiencing flashbacks. Therapy is a different
way to try and become less scared of the traumatic event they went

Essay On Discourse Community
The discourse community I share with my sister is no different. It has existed since we first gained
conscious awareness of one another, and has continued to develop over the years. My interactions
with my sister, from our methods of communications to our range of actions and responses have all
played a viable role in developing the bonds between us. These elements come together toward a
common sense of familial care and appreciation for one another. One point in particular, which this
communitycontinuously makes in our everyday lives is that of communication. Communication is
the key to this discourse communityas it is with all others. Between my sister and I, communication
is primarily verbal base and varies in subjects based on several conditions such as immediate
surroundings, recent or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speaking is a much broader form of communication allowing for easier and more convenient way
of sharing information with another, For example, if my sister wants to share with me her plans
for today and where she ll be in a certain time period, she ll most likely speak to me directly and
give me all the necessary information needed to fully understand her. By speaking it to me, I am
able to pose questions to gain even more clarification should I miss some details and not totally
understand what it is she said. Speaking doesn t follow a specific genre as other forms of
communication might, the specifics of a conversation are geared toward that particular
conversation and rarely overlap into other discussions which we may have between one another.
Something of note to point out with speaking is the higher chance of conflict between members of
a discourse community. Being that I talk to my sister more than any other form of communication,
our conflicts are always verbal

The Curious Incident Of The Dog
To write a good mystery novel takes time and only a few authors have been successful in writing
them. Mystery novels has been around for a period of time with historical authors such as Arthur
Conan Doyle and recent author Stephen King. In these novels, clues are provided by the author and
Christopher Boone, narrator of the novelThe Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, states,
If it is a good puzzle you can sometimes work out the answer before the end of the book (5). In
relation to this, the most valuable information is typically gained throughout the process of the
investigation rather than the solution itself. Although the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in
the Night time is not classified as a detective story, the plot still goes through an investigation and
shares elements of a mystery novel. The mystery within the story that keeps the novel going is to
find the killer of Mrs. Shears poodle, Wellington, and in turn, shapes the ending where the audience
sees the development of the protagonist, Christopher, through the investigation itself, the journey to
London and his overall ability as a writer.
The novel begins with Christopher stumbling upon the dead dog, Wellington, and gets accused as
the killer. If this occurrence did not happen, then Christopher would not have wanted to find the
real killer since death is never a drawback for him. In fact, Christopher views death as an inevitable
event, so whoever killed Wellington does not pertain to him

Native American Women In Early America
Even at the very beginning of America, Artists would paint the Native American s women in
such a way to attracted more people to come over and explore this new world, and maybe to find
these exotic women in the forest. As more and more people came over, along with more success
in starting colonies women were given more power in the new world then back at home. European
women, in the beginning, were outnumbered by the males and this was the beginning of uprising of
power for women. European women were not the first group of women to gain more power in
society. Native American women already had more freedom than European women had originally.

Original Sin, in short was the story on how Adam and Eve got kick out of the Garden by eating
the apple. If we continue to look into English religion, God create men first, then create women
for the men. Native American had a different idea on how we were created. The Iroquois
creation story believed that a woman came from Heaven and a tortoise back was the land we
live on. A spirit saw that the woman was lonely and give her three children, two sons and one
daughter. The daughter became the mother of the Iroquois people. The Iroquois saw women as
the creator of the world and their nation, which is the complete opposite of what English
believed. Instead of women being seen as weak, Native American women were essential to group
survival for they were gatherers of the group. They daily life included finding food, nurturers to
the children, and processes of community decision. Women in Native American society were not
seen as equals through. Looking at the two paintings of Native Americans working on farm land
by Joseph Francois Lafitau and Theodor de Bry. Both were European artist that depict Native
American women gatherers and work at home. In Theodor de Bry painting he paints women
planting seeds, as the men work the field to make the land suitable to grow plants. In Joseph
Francois Lafitau painting it shows men working the field while women plant seeds again, but it also
shows women gatherer sap from trees to make syrup. Women were not equal to men in Native
American society, but they had many more rights than European women. In John White painting of
Native Americans religious ritual, it shows Native American women preforming a ritual among
males. In some cases women served as the mediators between humans and supernatural powers. The
only time women were able to pick their husband in early America was Chesapeake. As mention
before, women

The Impact Of Social Media On Youth Development
I use social media quite a bit in my personal life; it s usually the first thing I check as soon as I
log onto my computer. I m almost always on Tumblr or Twitter for the latest updates. It s a pretty
useful tool, I would say because it allows you to connect with many people that you would not
have known about otherwise. It s an endless source of information, and it s very easy to learn
about things often just as they are happening which is a massive improvement in within the last
twenty years. Social media has had a very large impact on the world at large and singlehandedly
revolutionized the way we communicate and connect today. I will be discussing various online
communities such as Facebook and Twitter and their various impacts as well as their influence on
people who use them regularly.
According Pempek et al (2009) media has a large influence on youth development, with U.S youth
investing approximately 6.5 hours per day with media. (As cited by Roberts et al, 2005)
According to survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 41% of 12 13 year olds and
61% of 14 17 year olds use social networking sites. On average U.S College students reported
using Facebook 10 30 minutes daily. (As cited by Lenhart Madden 2007) One way students who
use online applications is to facilitate social relationships. 85% of college students who use
Facebook use it to keep in touch with friends on campus as well as former high school. College
students did not use Facebook to

Political Changes in Europe Following WWII
Europe saw greater political changes than continuities following the 2nd World War.
World War II (WWII) was a pivotal event that reshaped the Europe very much in terms of
international politics. I agree to a large extent that Europe did see greater political changes than
continuities following WWII. The most evident changes of which were that the United States of
America (USA) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) gained international
dominance in the world arena and that the United Nations (UN) was established following the
League of Nations demise.
WWII saw the decline of the Great Powers, mainly Britain and France, as well as the rise of USA

The establishment of the UN followed the demise of the League of Nations, which was
established after World War I (WWI). However, the League of Nations hardly had any authority
to do so, since they had no military power and nations who were a part of the League of Nations
were not required to provide one. In addition, USA, USSR and Germany were not members of the
League of Nations, meaning that three of the world s most powerful nations then played no part in
supporting the league. Britain and France were the two most powerful members of the League of
Nations, however both nations had suffered much economic and military losses during WWI and
hence were unwilling to contribute to issues that did not regard Western Europe.
After the League of Nations failed to prevent WWII, the UN was established as a replacement of
the flawed League of Nations to maintain international peace and promote cooperation. In
addition, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was formed by the UN Charter, and its
jurisdictions can be enforced by the UN Security Council (but is subject to the veto power of the
five permanent members of the council). The UN has helped to diffuse the tension between USA
and USSR over the Cuban Crisis of 1962, succeeded in averting the Arab Israel war in 1967 and so
on, proving the capability and functions of the UN.
Since its establishment, the UN has solved

Inflation Essays
Inflation INFLATION CAN OUR ECONOMY GROW WITHOUT IT?
INFLATION CAN OUR ECONOMY GROW WITHOUT IT? What is inflation? The definition
of inflation, according to Webster s Revised Unabridged Dictionary, is an undue expansion or
increase, from overissue. Although, Webster s is considered by most to be the overall best
dictionary, WordNet states the meaning of inflation a lot clearer by saying, it s a general and
progressive increase in prices. It occurs when the value of goods rises faster than the value of
money. The usual approximate measure of this is the Consumer Price Index, which weigh the
prices of different goods according to importance in a typical budget and then shows how much the
prices of these goods have increased. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s an incredible drop for such a short period of time. Another good demonstration of a healthy
economy with low secondary effects of inflation is time period between the Korean Vietnam Wars.
During this time the countries economy expanded at an annual average of 3.5% while the inflation
rate stayed at a minimal amount. Our central bank, along with the Clinton Administrations and
many other major economists seem to believe that any kind of growth in the economy of over
2.5% will trigger inflation. That s why so many economists assumed that with the ever lowering
unemployment rates of recent, there would be huge increases in wages and it would sharply
inflate prices. This same assumption was made because of the Federal Reserve s actions in the
past. In 1994 the Federal Reserve tried slowing down the economy in the fight against inflation by
raising interest rates. They were not thinking of the opportunity costs of a million new jobs that
could have been created, but were not, due to the economies slumping standards.
Because of this, many personal incomes that could have been increased were not. This is just one
example of market failure through the ideas of Phillips Curve and the Consumer Price Indexes. As I
stated earlier, the Consumer Price Indexes, that most economists go by to judge inflation, are not

Blue Collar Brilliance Summary
Joyner Crane 9 /10/2014 EH 101 BD Many people in today s society tend to believe that a good
education is the fastest way to move up the ladder in their chosen. People believe that those who

intelligence cannot be defined by the amount of education a person has received. In the article,
Rose use many emotional personal examples to help the reader understand the amount of hard

reader by describing his first hand experience of growing up watching his mother put her heart
and soul into being a waitress in a restaurant. Rose says, She described the way she memorized
who ordered what, how long each dish is supposed to take to prepare, and how she became a pro

order to hopefully receive a tip that would be used to support her family. Rose also says, I

My Interest In Rock Music
Topic: Rock music
Individual Presentation:
What initially made you interested in rock music? [5]
My interest in rock music began when a friend of mine first introduced me to a song by rock
band Muse. At first I thought that it was just like any other songs as it was comprised of the
same riff extended to about 4 minutes with a 2 minute guitar solo/bridge. However, as I
continued to listen to the song over and over again, I grew to appreciate the heavy drumming, the
distorted guitar riff and when I watched a few of their live performances of the song, I was
astonished by the band synergy that they had. There s just so much energy and passion put into
every song they performed. Watching their performances inspired me to the point where I felt like

their society. Women in upper classes in regency England, as shown in the novel, Pride and

The Ottoman And The Fall Of The Ottoman Empire
The Ottomans were initially composed of Turkish tribes who gained most of their power between
the 15th and 16th century, however the empire had been growing since the 13th through the
accumulation of new territory. Their quick expansion was accomplished through winning many
battles. The empire started out in Iran and Mesopotamia, but eventually came to conquer parts of
Turkey and Thrace in the 13th century, Bulgaria, eastern Europe, and Constantinople in the 14th
century, western Asia and southeast Europe in the 15th century, and Crete in the 16th century
before their decline. During the mid to late 1400s, Mehmed II was the Sultan. He conquered
territories in Anatolia and the Balkans as well as Constantinople, granting him the title of The
Conqueror. The fall of Constantinople was extremely significant in the growth of power for the
Ottomans because it resulted in the fall of the Byzantines after conflicts between the empires for
over a century. Shortly after, Mehmed II obtained the remains of the Byzantine Empire. In the early
1500s, Selim I became sultan. While in power, he extended their land into Syria, the Hejaz, and
Egypt. After Selim I conquered the Dulkadir principality of Elbistan, conflict arose between the
Ottoman Empireand Syria and Egypt because they had regarded the principality highly. Selim I

No. 3 ranked welterweight Demian Maia is fighting for the first time since losing to champion
Tyron Woodley in July. He ll take on the No. 8 ranked welterweight, Colby Covington, with the

Prior to the unanimous decision loss to Woodley, Maia had reeled off seven straight victories, using
his superb jiu jitsu to his advantage against his opposition. Covington has high level wrestling,
which Maia will certainly test. Woodley was the first and only fighter to completely shut down
Maia s takedown attempts, so Covington will have his hands full.
Covington is riding a four fight win streak, but Maia will without a doubt be his toughest
opponent yet. He last defeated Dong Hyun Kim in June, and his last loss was in December 2015

division.

Before The Tylenol Crisis
Introduction
In January 1886 a renowned family business, Johnson Johnson was founded in New Brunswick,
New Jersey, by Robert Wood Johnson along with his brothers James Wood Johnson and Edward
Mead Johnson. These three recognized physicians were inspired at the time by Joseph Lister, who
was a pioneer of antiseptic surgery, seized the opportunity and started the company. This Company
was established at a time when sterile surgical practices were deficient in the medical field. The
success of their medical products, including sterile sutures and dressing materials, allowed the
young company to grow rapidly. Thus, Johnson and Johnson today emerged from a small company
that made surgical dressings into a multinational pharmaceutical giant.

ABSTRACT
Buchi Emecheta is one of the growing numbers of African women writers who have set their
authorial eyes on the conditions of women living both on their home continent and abroad. She
takes her place among Tsitsi Dangarembga, Miriama Ba, Bessie Head, Ama Ata Aidoo, Lauretta
Ngcobo, and Lindsey Collen, to name a few, as writers who have formed an intense new voice of
African womanhood. Emecheta has published more than twenty works; including the novels
Double Yoke, The Bride Price, Head above Water, Destination Biafra, and Kehinde. Each is an
exploration of what it means to be a woman and a mother in rapidly evolving societies where
traditions and mores are in a constant state of flux. While some of her novels mirror her own
experience as an expatriate living in London, her work mostly focuses on her native country of
Nigeria. The Joys of Motherhood is among her most pivotal works, as it offers critical commentary
on colonialism, tradition, capitalism, and women s roles as they come to affect one woman, Nnu
Ego, and her family
Key words: African women writers, expatriation, motherhood, colonialism, women s role

1699931 Women aren t the problem but the solution. The plight of girls is no more a tragedy than
an opportunity (Kristof WuDunn, 2009, p. xviii). This quote does an excellent job of introducing
the issues discussed in the book Half the Sky. In this book, Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn
present us with the issue of the unjust and cruel treatment of women in today s world. Women
throughout the world are treated in unthinkably bad ways, but the majority of people are not
even aware of the suffering these women face on a daily basis. According to Kristof and
WuDunn (2009), Women aged fifteen through forty four are more likely to be maimed or die
from male violence than from cancer, malaria, traffic accidents, and war combined (p. 61).
However, Kristof and WuDunn (2009) also point out that if something dramatic such as a school
shooting or bombing takes place, it makes breaking news, and everyone is aware of it all at once
(p. xiv). Plenty of women are being mistreated every minute of

Online Gaming Addiction Using Official Mental Disorder Essay
Kuss and Griffiths (2011) This study suggest that excessive gaming may actually lead to symptoms
that substance addicts commonly experience from their abuse of different drugs. Games usually
apply to children, adolescents and young adults. These groups are at higher ricks for developing
gaming addiction because they are still growing. The review wants to present the classification
basis of online gaming addictionusing official mental disorder frameworks (Kuss Griffiths 2011).
To also identify other studies that go into detail about online gaming addiction in children and
adolescents, also show the findings and pit them against related mental disorder criteria.
The empirical review in this study shows first how much children and adolescents have put into
gaming over time. In 2010, both video and PC game software retail sales amounted to
approximately $15.5 (US) billion (as cited in Johnson, 2011). Games now have the ability to
create massive worlds that let players develop their own alter egos and avatars as they see fit.
Having the whole world to join into with anyone one at any time at any location that the user sees
fit; making extremely massive committees that grow day to day. Making these games fully
immerse in a virtual reality setting, in which the world can be shape as those deemed it to be

Wound Cleaning
The article by Fernandez and Griffiths (2013), compares the use of tap water to other cleaning
solutions when cleaning wounds. The current practice found in the article was using normal saline
because of its isotonic properties and its ability to not affect the healing process of the wounds.
Current literature states that clinicians should caution when using on wounds that have exposed
tendons or bone and that normal saline should be used in this case. So with that in mind, the
authors conducted a study based on tap water effects in wound care. Purpose of the study The main
goal was to see if there was any difference between the use of tap water and the compounds of other
cleaning solutions for wound cleansing. Wound cleansing, according to... Show more content on

Three of these trials compared tap water to not cleansing and the other eight compared tap water
with other cleansing products. The different wounds in the trials included lacerations, open
fractures and surgical incisions. Throughout the trials, they looked at the clinical benefits as well
as the cost effectiveness of each solution. After the data was compiled, it showed that there was no
significant difference, except in one trial, on clinical effectiveness when using tap water and
normal saline. In the one trial that had a different result, the data showed that there was a higher
rate of infection for one group who used normal saline. Unfortunately, it is inconclusive as to
whether or not it is true to say that it causes a higher infection rate. However, when it came to the
cost effectiveness, people reported the tap water to be more efficient than irrigating with normal
saline. Support of Clinical Question This article did support the question of interest of using tap
water compared to other cleansing products in the beneficial effects of wound care. My question
was to look at the cost effectiveness and the rate of infection when comparing the two. This article
looked at various different cleaning methods, including tap water and derived a probable outcome
based on their findings, which supported the clinical

Social Change In The Romantic Era
How Social Change Influenced the Music of the Romantic Era
The Romantic Era was spurred from the defeat of Napoleon. Beginning in the early 19th century,
the Romantic Era focused on the romantic aspects of life. Definitively, romantic means as follows:
conducive to or characterized by the expression of love. The expression of love was the
centerpiece of all romantic music. Emotion filled. Riveting. Romantic music was able to portray the
beauty and melancholy of life. Romantic composers like FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin, Franz Schubert, and
Felix Mendelssohn were able to provoke an emotional response from the listener. Classical music
prior wasn t able to produce the same response from the listener as Romantic music. The question
becomes, how did this change in style come about? Contemporary ideas specifically the
Enlightenment mixed with modernization saw a break from traditional ways. From this break,
composers after the age of Enlightenment were able to think more freely, and thus compose more
freely. The freedom of composition allowed composers to convey the emotions reflected in the
music of the romantic era. Moreover, with the new rising sense of nationalism, compositions were
formed with a collective identity. Arthur W. Locke describes the romantic movement as ...the
revolution of feeling and thought which came at the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the
nineteenth centuries . This description highlights the impetus for the romantic movement feeling and

the safe haven of America will still be the priority of people around the world. The demographics

population continues to decline. The African American population has already moved from the
largest minority to the second largest minority be replaced by the Hispanic minority. If this trend
continues by 2050 we can see the Hispanic population become the majority of the largest minority
and other people who have not had to fight for civil rights may now find themselves as a
beneficiary of those civil rights battles fought by other minorities.
What challenges does the United States face due to the diversity of its people?
The first issue that comes to mind is language. If the Hispanic population becomes a majority will
we see a change in the language that is not only taught but spoken in America. Many merchants and

The Metaphors Of Characters In King Lear By William...
Good my lord,
You have begot me, bred me, loved me.
I return those duties back as are right fit:
Obey you, love you, and most honor you.
Why have my sisters husbands if they say
They love you all? Happy, when I shall wed,
That lord whose hand must take my plight shall carry
Half my love with him, half my care and duty.
Sure, I shall never marry like my sisters,
To love my father all.
(1.1.95 103)
This quote is coming from Cordelia in the first scene of the first act. Lear has just called his
three daughters in and is dividing up his kingdom. The daughters are telling Lear how much
they love him in order to influence the decision on dividing the kingdom. Regan and Goneril
both lie and say that they love him more than words can express but Cordelia doesn t lie and tells
the truth. In this quote, she says, Lear you have raised me and loved me and I m returning the
favor. I love you just as I should, I obey you, I love you and I honor you. Hopefully, when I get
married I will give you my husband and half of my love. This quote is showing that in King Lear,
Shakespeare uses characters to represent something greater. In the story, there are a few main
characters that are big metaphors one being King Lear representing madness and insanity. A second
being Goneril representing greed and lastly, Gloucester used to show the metaphors of people not
opening their eyes to what s actually going on. All these metaphors have an important lesson to
them that can be applied into the

Semi-Detached Housing Changes
In Britain there has historically always been a belief that the ideal living situation is a married
heterosexual couple with children. In this lifestyle model the male of the house is the wage
earner and the woman holds responsibility for domestic chores and rising children. This model is
particular apparent in the working classes during the early 20th century. In the years following the
Second World War housing was designed and master planned in a way that embodied these
ideologies. These generalisations structured ideas about the location of new post war housing
laying the way for married women to be exploited in the low pay labour market. However rapid
social change following the war resulted in greater number of women being drawn into the... Show

These houses were amalgamation of retained social expectations of housework but also more
progressive architectural ideas. The period saw great change thanks in part to the influence of the
Garden City Movements and Raymond Unwin. Unwin semis featured additional living space on
the ground floor, running hot water, internalised kitchen and bathing facilities. The extra living
space on the ground floor provided an area for families to engage with everyday life and again a
parlour in the front of the house to entertain with. The changed position of the kitchen to inside the
house really demonstrates the change of gender perspective during this time, it lessened the
separation of house tasks by bringing them closer to the family. The provision of hot running
water, electricity and internal washrooms helped ease some of the labour of housework,
beginning to liberate the housewife. It was however still expected that she would prepare and
serve all foods. Therefor the housewife found herself in a funny situation of being both privileged
with modern conveniences but still bound to being unseen doing her task in a small space as if a

Inaccuracies In Armageddon
The movie Armageddon is a great movie, but contains many scientific inaccuracies. The movie has
many scenes that are set in outer space where many things such as gravity act different. While
watching the movie many things are portrayed to act in space as they do on Earth, which is not
true. Forces that act upon an object in space behave completely different than those that act upon
objects on Earthdue to the differences in atmosphere. There are four specific instances from the
movie where I can prove inaccuracies. In the movie when the crew was on the crater drilling,
nothing was coming out of the hole. When there is drilling taking place the rock or dirt needs to
be displaced into the surrounding area. In the movie nothing came out of the hole during the entire
drilling process. There was almost no gravity on the asteroid to be able to hold the remnants and
dust in the hole being drilled. Therefore, the dust and remnants should be up on the surface of the
asteroid and floating around in space. The way I would fix this inaccuracy of how... Show more

turn a gun would be rendered useless in space. There is new ammunition than can be fired in

vacuum of space, the gun and whatever is holding it would be launched backwards just as the
bullet is launched forwards due to there being no gravity to holding anything in place. To fix this
inaccuracy I would show the space vehicle being blown backwards by the gun shot or I would

American Industrialization Essay
Between 1865 and 1920, industrialization caused significant changes in many people s lives.
First, the development of a new railroad system help settle the west and made it more accessible to
people. Second, public transit systems in big cities provided an outlet from congested cities. Last,
the discovery of a method for transmitting electricity helped to light up our daily lives. I feel that
these are three of the most important changes in people s lives caused by industrialization.
First, the building of railroads out west played a huge part in the successful expansion of our

Through the development of a transcontinental railroad system, the west was settled and many
American dreams were in reach.
Second, the development of new public transit systems, was important in shaping the design of our
cities and the growth of our cities by enabling people to move further away from the inner city.
Early on, large cities had very little and inadequate transportation. Their main source of
transportation were horse drawn wagons and walking. As a result, most people lived or took
housing near downtown, which was where most of the working establishments were located. This
made the big cities very congested. However with the breakthrough of the el , electric streetcars,
and subways, around 1867, cities began to open up more. Those who were fortunate enough to
move out of the slums and into better surrounding neighborhoods, did so. The more affluent of the
white collar classes moved into the suburban areas. In contrast, many of the very wealthy
continued to live in city mansions. The new transit systems in most cities allowed people to escape
the chaos of urban life and provided potential for growth of our cities.
Last, Thomas Edison s discovery of electricity and a method of transmitting it, was significant in
many ways. Due to this discovery, businesses could operate around the clock. We were no longer

contributes to the sense of community on campus. Class size reduction is proven to help students
socially and academically. There is an ongoing debate over the precise point at which students
begin to benefit from smaller classes. Although there are advantages and disadvantages of student

Although there are advantages and disadvantages in class size reduction to student achievement,

Coffee
1) Who did the Europeans get coffee from and how did it spread to Europe?
A) Coffee originated in Yemen, Arabia where it was viewed as a religious beverage. Over time it
spread to Mecca and Cairo, where it became a recreational drink to be drunk in a social manner
in large coffee houses. It also became a popular substitute for alcohol, which was banned under
Islam. Europeans traveling in the Middle East came upon coffee and coffeehouses and commented
on their popularity. But it wasn t until 1652, when an Armenian servant named Pasqua Rosee
opened the first coffee house in London, that coffee transformed from a little known novelty into a
wide spread phenomenon. When, in 1658, Cromwell died and public opinion swung in the favor
of a new monarchy, coffee houses became central in political debates and commercial business.
The trend quickly caught on and coffee houses became fashionable throughout Europe. 2) Why was
it so important to Europe s development that many people s beverage of choice switched from
alcohol to coffee?
A) Unlike alcohol s intoxicating effect, which made people sleepy and dulled their minds, coffee
woke people up and made scientists, clerks, merchants and other businessmen more alert throughout
the long workday. Coffeehouses also became places for people to exchange and listen to new ideas
and theories in areas such as natural history, chemistry,

damages they have been occurred due to unjust enrichment on the part of Coppergate. In regard to
this claim I would surely order the Houser Homes to pay the loss of the plaintiff in regard to their

Arguments of Coppergate Development Inc.
Coppergate is not liable to pay the total due for the supply of windows because there was no
contract between Coppergate and the plaintiff. They could have been involved with the Builders

only made in between Houser Homes and the plaintiff not with the landowner. Consequently,
resources were limited to the subcontractor and no claim as opposed to the owner, or the land that

mind and body can be refreshed and renewed. Again, in the Bible, several verses address exercise
from both the spiritual and physical perspectives. For instance, in 1 Corinthians 9: 24 27, we are
asked, do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run
that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self control in all things. They do it to receive a
perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating
the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself
should be disqualified. So, just move and God will do the rest. The healing process is started
when we dare to go out in the fresh air and sun and move our bodies. In summary, while mental
health conditions are plaguing Americans, if we meditate on God s word, confess our sins and
pray for one another, eat well, and exercise, we can renew our minds and be healthy in body,
mind, soul, and spirit. We hope that all our readers had a wonderful mental health month. Please

The Job Of Her Dreams
Karen is 23. She finished college last year and landed the job of her dreams in graphic arts. The
work is creative and challenging. Karen is pretty and has many friends so she is frequently
included in the party circuit at work. She should be happy and excited. After all, her life is
beginning just as she carefully planned it. But instead, she feels dead and dull inside. She keeps up
with her job, but it doesn t bring the joy she thought it would. She feels distant from its
satisfactions. She doesn t feel as creative as she once was, and doesn t understand the dull distant
sorrowing she feels despite her accomplishments.
Karen had an abortion in college. She thought she had a serious committed relationship with her
boyfriend, but when she told him she was pregnant he was definitely less than happy about it. He
told her the decision was up to her, but if she wanted an abortion, he would pay for it. She sensed
his lack of commitment to her and his baby and decided on abortion. Two of her roommates had
abortions and they seemed fine afterwards. What s wrong with her that she feels so depressed
about it?
Karen s story is repeated every day on college campuses and in high schools across the country.
Since 1973 when the Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion, an estimated twenty eight million
women in the United States have had one or more abortions. These were women who were
challenged and stressed by the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy, and the people on whom

Explain Why Did People Colaborate With The Nazis
Why did People Collaborate with the Nazis? Dating back to approximately seventy years ago, the
Nazi party tried to create an alliance to help them dominate Europe. They made a promise that
Slovaks would have their own country, and they moved factories into Slovakia so that the Slovaks
could produce goods that would help the them win the war. When Ukraine was under Soviet rule,
the Soviets intended to annex it to the Soviet Unionpermanently, confiscated the wealth of
capitalist, and began to create collective farms by taking away the land of individual farmers and
forcing them to join the collectives. Ukrainians believed that the Germans were going to save them
from the Communists who had taken away everything from them. Hungary, the main loser of Paris

Some Slovaks were collaborating with the Nazis because they believed that the Nazis had given
them independence, and the independence would be retained if the Nazis win the war. In other
words, already having their own independent country, some portion of the Slovak population
were encouraged to be in favor of the Nazis and work together with them. There was a parallel
situation to what was going on in Slovakia. Ukraine had been ruled by foreigners for many
centuries. Ukrainians resented the Soviets much more than they resented the Germans because the
Soviets intended to annex to the Soviet Union permanently, confiscated the wealth of capitalist,
and began to create collective farms. In Harvest of Despair: Life and Death in Ukraine Under
Nazi Rule , Karel Berkhoff depicted the scene where people welcomed the Germans with flowers,
bread, and water by saying that In western Volhynia and western Polissia, peasants gave the
incoming Germans the traditional bread and salt welcome as well as food and even dinners, to
thank them for

Culture is not only reflected in the performing arts or languages, but it is also more able to
reflect on the food that people under different food cultural backgrounds, their eating habits and

Wuhan, where I grew up, is famous not only of its historical sites, like Yellow Crane Tower and
Guiyuan Tempe but also famous of its characteristic snacks, such as Hot Dry Noodle, Doupi and
duck necks. In these special foods, Hot Dry Noodle is the most important one because it is not only
good at taste, but it also can show the culture of Wuhan that this city contains enthusiasm,
wisdom, gentleness, and perseverance. In order to prove thesis, I am going to discuss the
history of Hot Dry Noodles, Hot Dry Noodles in Wuhan people lives, and the culture aspect of
Hot Dry Noodles. Most characteristic foods usually have legendary stories, and Hot Dry
Noodles is no an exception. In the 1920s, most Chinese were not wealthy. A hawker named Bao
Lee, sold jelly and noodles for living in Long Beach Street, Hankou. One day, the weather was
unusually hot, and a lot of noodles were not sold out. Bao Lee was afraid that noodles would
become rancid, so he cooled remaining noodles, and dried these noodles on board. However, he
accidentally knocked over the oil pot, and sesame oil poured on the noodles. Bao Lee saw this,
and there was no alternative but to mix the noodles with oil and let noodles dry

Poverty And Its Effects On Children s Development
Poverty arises in many families and touches them in many methods. Teachers main concerns in
poverty is in what manner it impacts the child s development. Families who live in poverty face
drawbacks that can delay their children s development in various ways (Duncan, 2014). Not all
teachers identify the impact that a child in povertyhas to go thru each day. It is hard trying to
concentrate in classwork when one is thinking about where they will sleep or when they will have
their next meal. This paper demonstrates resources that a teacher can practice when having a child
in poverty in their classroom so they can better comprehend of the student. It also addresses the
global effects of poverty and educational outcomes by containing п¬Ѓndings from both developed
and developing countries. Teacher s support and society can benefit a child in poverty and the
family. According to Patrice L. Engle and Maureen M. Black Poverty affects a child s development
and educational outcomes beginning in the earliest years of life, both directly and indirectly
through mediated, moderated, and transactional processes. School readiness, or the child s ability
to use and profit from school, has been acknowledged as playing a unique role in escape from
poverty in the United States and gradually in developing countries. It is a dangerous element, but
needs to be maintained by many other mechanisms of a poverty alleviation strategy, such as
enhanced opportunity structures and empowerment of

Opioid Abuse Over The Past Decade Essay
The Problem
In the United States, there has been upward swing of opioid abuse over the past decade. Overdose
deaths involving opioids both prescription pain relievers and heroin almost quadrupled between
1999 and 2014. Well intentioned efforts to curb prescription opioid abuse have yielded new policies
with unfortunate, unforeseen consequences for the 15% of the US population that suffer from
chronic pain nearly 45 million people.
Persistent pain has psychological and social implications for daily life. It can severely limit an
individual s ability to work and be a productive member of society and decreases quality of life. In
the face of increasing stigma and barriers to care, patients are struggling to procure the legal
medications that alleviate their debilitating pain.
In 2012, enough opioid prescriptions were written to cover every adult in America at least once ,
but that trend has already begun to be reversed. Last year, 17 million fewer opioid pain relievers
were prescribed than in the year before. The concern is that the new guidelines and policies are
blunt instruments that are denying patients who appropriately use their prescription opioids access
to medications, rather then blocking access for the recreational, illicit user of opioids. There are
reports of physicians who are wary about writing prescriptions for opioid pain relievers, those who
blindly follow guidelines without considering the nuances of an individuals needs, and those who
have

The purpose of this project was to demonstrate to pharmacy and osteopathic medical students the
value of interdisciplinary education through participation in an interdisciplinary medication

medical student acting as a physician with a needlestick exposure requiring HIV prophylaxis
therapy. Medical students were randomized to participate in one of three levels of pharmacist

Further, medication adherence is especially necessary with antiretroviral therapy, in which a 5% to
20% reduction in medication adherence can result in a 60% virologic failure.21 All health
professionals need to understand the value of each profession toward improving patient outcomes.
The Institute of Medicine suggests that significant improvements in communication among health
care providers is necessary to reduce unexpected medical events.22
Methods
All third year pharmacy students (n 92) and all secondyear osteopathic medical students (n 115) at
Midwestern University were chosen to participate in the interdisciplinary medication adherence
project. Pharmacy education is generally a 4 year professional program to obtain a doctor of
pharmacy degree. However, unique to Midwestern University is a 3year doctor of pharmacy

Descartes Dreaming Argument
The topic of this essay is Descartes First Meditations and I will be discussing in detail the Dreaming
argument and the Evil Demon argument.
According to Descartes , As I think about this more carefully, I see plainly that there are never any
sure signs by means of which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep. This is the
fundamental principle of the Dreaming Argument. The scenarios in which we experience whilst we
are asleep are comparable to the scenarios we experience whilst we are awake. Often, we struggle
to tell from our own perspective where our experiences are derived from; it is difficult to
differentiate whether our experiences stem from reality or our dreams. The issue with this is that
our unconscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be challenged as to sit in a lecture you must be certain that you re sitting in a lecture, but
you cannot be certain that you are not actually dreaming, therefore you cannot be certain that you
re sitting in a lecture. P2 there is no way to be certain that the experiences we perceive to be reality
are our reality. Descartes argues that there is no way that we can be completely certain that such
experiences are not unconscious experiences, Any experience that strikes me as waking experiences
such that I am perceiving the environment in a normal way are indistinguishable from possible
dreaming experiences.
An objection to this argument is that we can distinguish being awake and being asleep. If we
can remember our dreams once we are awake, we can recognise them as dreams as they
generally don t make sense which differs from our logical conscious experiences. Dreams are
usually only coherent for a short period of time which is a distinct difference from being awake.
Once we are conscious, even our most vivid unconscious experiences can be recognised as
dreams. Your waking experiences can be intensely recalled whereas you do not always remember
your unconscious experiences. I believe that this is a weak argument because sometime struggle to
fully distinguish between reality and our dreams as our unconscious experiences are
overwhelmingly intense and life like.
A counterargument

Customer Service At Dunmore Home Improvement Essay
Dunmore Home Improvement Philosophy
Customer service here at Dunmore Home Improvements is not just a person sitting at a desk,
answering a phone and directing the caller. We believe customer service needs to be embedded in
all aspects of our company principles and seen as an opportunity to gain achieving tactical
economical advantage.
So what does this mean? From the first phone call to our last interaction with the customer we want
them to feel as this has been the best experience possible. It begins with our face of the company.
That could be a greeter at the front door, or our team member answering a phone call. At that
initial point of contact it is our goal to invite the customer in to a friendly, knowledgeable, and
accommodating atmosphere. Secondly, we want all internal customers to assist our external
customers with any help or guidance they need without making them feel as if they have
inconvenienced us. Listening to our customers will help improve the customer experience and
lead to quicker solutions. Finally, we want our customers to not only come back, but to promote
our business through word of mouth. That is where we will gain our economic advantage. It s 5
times harder to get a new client than it is to get repeat business from an existing client (Sivers). We
need to utilize all aspects of customer service to not only retain the customers we do have but also
to create an experience that invites new customers to our store.
Internally, we want to motivate

  • 2. The Role Of Perfectionism In Eating Disorders When perfectionist behaviour can be considered as a state that is under conscious control, it can be deemed as merely a healthy desire to excel (Eusanio, Thomson, and Jaque, 2014). However, if perfectionism is a personality trait, it cannot be consciously controlled and has been proven to show positive correlations with mental illness such as anxiety and depression (Enns and Cox, 2002, cited in Stoeber, Otto, and Dalbert, 2009b). Self oriented perfectionism in dancers and a fear of failure can lead to injury, depression, and other psychological disorders such as anxiety and possible eating disorders (Eusanio, Thomson, and Jaque, 2014). Perfectionism in dancers tends to be considered a common personality type, as they are often inclined to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their study aimed to enhance the understanding of injury by examining the effect it has on self esteem. Their research consisted of asking 216 dancers to complete an Injury Monitoring Questionnaire (2005, cited in Nordin Bates, et al., 2011), a Dance Imagery Questionnaire (2006, cited in Nordin Bates, et al., 2011), an Athletic Injury Imagery Questionnaire 2 (2000, cited in Nordin Bates, et al., 2011) and the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (1965, cited in Nordin Bates, et al., 2011). The results of the study displayed no significant effect of injury upon self esteem however, they state this may be due to the lack of severely injured dancers in the study. Therefore, the result may have been different if there were more dancers involved in the research suffering from long term injuries. Additionally, Nordin Bates, et al., (2011) may have received different results had state self esteem been measured rather than trait self esteem, which is considered as generally being more stable ... The negative effects of taking painkillers helps show the reasons medicine can be dangerous if taken for a long period of time. Along with substance abuse problems, many soldiers home have problems sleeping. I used to fall asleep so easily during my deployment, even with all the loud noises and 24/7 commotion, but now that I m back and in a quiet, comfortable bedroom, I just can t seem to fall asleep at night ( Trouble Sleeping ). Instead of medical treatment, one type of therapy veterans can do is group therapy. Veterans can be put in group therapy which allows them all to share their experiences. This helps them not only try to cope with their past, but also improves their social skills. Cognitive Process Therapy is another type of non medical treatment that helps veterans take their traumatic event and view it as an event that helped them in a more positive outlook. CPT helps you by giving you a new way to handle these distressing thoughts and to gain an understanding of these events. By using the skills learned in this therapy, you can learn why recovery from traumatic events has been hard for you ( PTSD: National Center for PTSD ). Prolonged Exposure Therapy is similar to CPT and is for those who experience Trauma. It focuses on Education and learning more about the symptoms, breathing to help relax, real world practice for events the patient will avoid, and being talked through the trauma. PE allows for the patient to control what happens in their life and how they feel, not their memories. All of these different forms of talk therapy help the patient learn how to relax while experiencing flashbacks. • 4. Essay On Discourse Community The discourse community I share with my sister is no different. It has existed since we first gained conscious awareness of one another, and has continued to develop over the years. My interactions with my sister, from our methods of communications to our range of actions and responses have all played a viable role in developing the bonds between us. These elements come together toward a common sense of familial care and appreciation for one another. One point in particular, which this communitycontinuously makes in our everyday lives is that of communication. Communication is the key to this discourse communityas it is with all others. By speaking it to me, I am able to pose questions to gain even more clarification should I miss some details and not totally understand what it is she said. Speaking doesn t follow a specific genre as other forms of communication might, the specifics of a conversation are geared toward that particular conversation and rarely overlap into other discussions which we may have between one another. Something of note to point out with speaking is the higher chance of conflict between members of a discourse community. • 5. The Curious Incident Of The Dog To write a good mystery novel takes time and only a few authors have been successful in writing them. Mystery novels has been around for a period of time with historical authors such as Arthur Conan Doyle and recent author Stephen King. In these novels, clues are provided by the author and Christopher Boone, narrator of the novelThe Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, states, If it is a good puzzle you can sometimes work out the answer before the end of the book (5). In relation to this, the most valuable information is typically gained throughout the process of the investigation rather than the solution itself. Although the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time is not classified as a detective story, the plot still goes through an investigation and shares elements of a mystery novel. The mystery within the story that keeps the novel going is to find the killer of Mrs. Shears poodle, Wellington, and in turn, shapes the ending where the audience sees the development of the protagonist, Christopher, through the investigation itself, the journey to London and his overall ability as a writer. The novel begins with Christopher stumbling upon the dead dog, Wellington, and gets accused as the killer. If this occurrence did not happen, then Christopher would not have wanted to find the real killer since death is never a drawback for him. In fact, Christopher views death as an inevitable event, so whoever killed Wellington does not pertain to him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As more and more people came over, along with more success in starting colonies women were given more power in the new world then back at home. European women, in the beginning, were outnumbered by the males and this was the beginning of uprising of power for women. Original Sin, in short was the story on how Adam and Eve got kick out of the Garden by eating the apple. If we continue to look into English religion, God create men first, then create women for the men. Native American had a different idea on how we were created. The Iroquois creation story believed that a woman came from Heaven and a tortoise back was the land we live on. A spirit saw that the woman was lonely and give her three children, two sons and one daughter. The daughter became the mother of the Iroquois people. The Iroquois saw women as the creator of the world and their nation, which is the complete opposite of what English believed. Instead of women being seen as weak, Native American women were essential to group survival for they were gatherers of the group. They daily life included finding food, nurturers to the children, and processes of community decision. Women in Native American society were not seen as equals through. Looking at the two paintings of Native Americans working on farm land by Joseph Francois Lafitau and Theodor de Bry. • 7. The Impact Of Social Media On Youth Development I use social media quite a bit in my personal life; it s usually the first thing I check as soon as I log onto my computer. I m almost always on Tumblr or Twitter for the latest updates. It s a pretty useful tool, I would say because it allows you to connect with many people that you would not have known about otherwise. It s an endless source of information, and it s very easy to learn about things often just as they are happening which is a massive improvement in within the last twenty years. Social media has had a very large impact on the world at large and singlehandedly revolutionized the way we communicate and connect today. World War II (WWII) was a pivotal event that reshaped the Europe very much in terms of international politics. I agree to a large extent that Europe did see greater political changes than continuities following WWII. The most evident changes of which were that the United States of America (USA) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) gained international dominance in the world arena and that the United Nations (UN) was established following the League of Nations demise. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The establishment of the UN followed the demise of the League of Nations, which was established after World War I (WWI). However, the League of Nations hardly had any authority to do so, since they had no military power and nations who were a part of the League of Nations were not required to provide one. In addition, USA, USSR and Germany were not members of the League of Nations, meaning that three of the world s most powerful nations then played no part in supporting the league. Britain and France were the two most powerful members of the League of Nations, however both nations had suffered much economic and military losses during WWI and hence were unwilling to contribute to issues that did not regard Western Europe. After the League of Nations failed to prevent WWII, the UN was established as a replacement of the flawed League of Nations to maintain international peace and promote cooperation. In addition, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was formed by the UN Charter, and its jurisdictions can be enforced by the UN Security Council (but is subject to the veto power of the five permanent members of the council). Another good demonstration of a healthy economy with low secondary effects of inflation is time period between the Korean Vietnam Wars. During this time the countries economy expanded at an annual average of 3.5% while the inflation rate stayed at a minimal amount. Our central bank, along with the Clinton Administrations and many other major economists seem to believe that any kind of growth in the economy of over 2.5% will trigger inflation. That s why so many economists assumed that with the ever lowering unemployment rates of recent, there would be huge increases in wages and it would sharply inflate prices. This same assumption was made because of the Federal Reserve s actions in the past. In 1994 the Federal Reserve tried slowing down the economy in the fight against inflation by raising interest rates. They were not thinking of the opportunity costs of a million new jobs that could have been created, but were not, due to the economies slumping standards. Because of this, many personal incomes that could have been increased were not. This is just one example of market failure through the ideas of Phillips Curve and the Consumer Price Indexes. [5] My interest in rock music began when a friend of mine first introduced me to a song by rock band Muse. At first I thought that it was just like any other songs as it was comprised of the same riff extended to about 4 minutes with a 2 minute guitar solo/bridge. However, as I continued to listen to the song over and over again, I grew to appreciate the heavy drumming, the distorted guitar riff and when I watched a few of their live performances of the song, I was astonished by the band synergy that they had. Most women, Mrs. Bennet for example, during this period had the same responsibilities, but different household incomes put different priorities on what should be done to keep the family in line. The Ottoman And The Fall Of The Ottoman Empire The Ottomans were initially composed of Turkish tribes who gained most of their power between the 15th and 16th century, however the empire had been growing since the 13th through the accumulation of new territory. Their quick expansion was accomplished through winning many battles. The empire started out in Iran and Mesopotamia, but eventually came to conquer parts of Turkey and Thrace in the 13th century, Bulgaria, eastern Europe, and Constantinople in the 14th century, western Asia and southeast Europe in the 15th century, and Crete in the 16th century before their decline. During the mid to late 1400s, Mehmed II was the Sultan. He conquered territories in Anatolia and the Balkans as well as Constantinople, granting him the title of The Conqueror. The fall of Constantinople was extremely significant in the growth of power for the Ottomans because it resulted in the fall of the Byzantines after conflicts between the empires for over a century. Shortly after, Mehmed II obtained the remains of the Byzantine Empire. In the early 1500s, Selim I became sultan. While in power, he extended their land into Syria, the Hejaz, and Egypt. In front of me was a 65 inch Samsung television Me and my friend were playing FIFA on my XBOX and he was destroying me so far. It was only the second minute and he s already scored. I was FC Barcelona and he was Real Madrid. I had the legendary forward and he had the legendary FIFA skills. I was mad and I really feld hurt after he scored. That was mostly because before we started the game we both agreed that the winner would get 15 dollars. He also had a disadvantage in one key area , fortunately. That was his formation. His formation was a 4 3 3 attack which was three forwards three midfielders, a left back, a right back, two center backs, and one goalie. I had a 4 3 3 holding which meant that I had a defensive midfield instead of just three plain old midfielders. Overall, this meant that. Madrid had the ball and it was Modric, one of their midfielders who was dribbling. I made Sergio Busquets ( defensive midfield) do a slide tackle. The ball ricocheted on Modric s foot and went straight to Ousmane Dembele ( left forward ). Then came the mind blowing moves. He dribbled past the midfield and the forward. Then, he sombrero flicked Carvajal ( opposition s right back), nutmegged Sergio Ramos ( opposition s center back). Then he shot. The goalie jumped and punched the ball. The ball was over Dembele. No. 3 ranked welterweight Demian Maia is fighting for the first time since losing to champion Tyron Woodley in July. Prior to the unanimous decision loss to Woodley, Maia had reeled off seven straight victories, using his superb jiu jitsu to his advantage against his opposition. Covington has high level wrestling, which Maia will certainly test. Woodley was the first and only fighter to completely shut down Maia s takedown attempts, so Covington will have his hands full. Covington is riding a four fight win streak, but Maia will without a doubt be his toughest opponent yet. Beginning in the early 19th century, the Romantic Era focused on the romantic aspects of life. Definitively, romantic means as follows: conducive to or characterized by the expression of love. The expression of love was the centerpiece of all romantic music. Emotion filled. Riveting. Romantic music was able to portray the beauty and melancholy of life. Romantic composers like FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin, Franz Schubert, and Felix Mendelssohn were able to provoke an emotional response from the listener. Classical music prior wasn t able to produce the same response from the listener as Romantic music. The question becomes, how did this change in style come about? Contemporary ideas specifically the Enlightenment mixed with modernization saw a break from traditional ways. From this break, composers after the age of Enlightenment were able to think more freely, and thus compose more freely. The freedom of composition allowed composers to convey the emotions reflected in the music of the romantic era. Moreover, with the new rising sense of nationalism, compositions were formed with a collective identity. Arthur W. Sure, I shall never marry like my sisters, To love my father all. (1.1.95 103) This quote is coming from Cordelia in the first scene of the first act. Lear has just called his three daughters in and is dividing up his kingdom. The daughters are telling Lear how much they love him in order to influence the decision on dividing the kingdom. Regan and Goneril both lie and say that they love him more than words can express but Cordelia doesn t lie and tells the truth. In this quote, she says, Lear you have raised me and loved me and I m returning the favor. I love you just as I should, I obey you, I love you and I honor you. Hopefully, when I get married I will give you my husband and half of my love. This quote is showing that in King Lear, Shakespeare uses characters to represent something greater. In the story, there are a few main characters that are big metaphors one being King Lear representing madness and insanity. Coffee 1) Who did the Europeans get coffee from and how did it spread to Europe? A) Coffee originated in Yemen, Arabia where it was viewed as a religious beverage. Over time it spread to Mecca and Cairo, where it became a recreational drink to be drunk in a social manner in large coffee houses. It also became a popular substitute for alcohol, which was banned under Islam. Europeans traveling in the Middle East came upon coffee and coffeehouses and commented on their popularity. But it wasn t until 1652, when an Armenian servant named Pasqua Rosee opened the first coffee house in London, that coffee transformed from a little known novelty into a wide spread phenomenon. When, in 1658, Cromwell died and public opinion swung in the favor of a new monarchy, coffee houses became central in political debates and commercial business. The trend quickly caught on and coffee houses became fashionable throughout Europe. 2) Why was it so important to Europe s development that many people s beverage of choice switched from alcohol to coffee? Again, God made the body to release certain hormones during exercise and just by taking those steps, or going for a swim, one s mind and body can be refreshed and renewed. Again, in the Bible, several verses address exercise from both the spiritual and physical perspectives. For instance, in 1 Corinthians 9: 24 27, we are asked, do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. So, just move and God will do the rest. The healing process is started when we dare to go out in the fresh air and sun and move our bodies. In summary, while mental health conditions are plaguing Americans, if we meditate on God s word, confess our sins and pray for one another, eat well, and exercise, we can renew our minds and be healthy in body, mind, soul, and spirit. We hope that all our readers had a wonderful mental health month. Please give us a call at 404 500 9204 to set up an appointment to see one of our counselors. Kind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Opioid Abuse Over The Past Decade Essay The Problem In the United States, there has been upward swing of opioid abuse over the past decade. Overdose deaths involving opioids both prescription pain relievers and heroin almost quadrupled between 1999 and 2014. Well intentioned efforts to curb prescription opioid abuse have yielded new policies with unfortunate, unforeseen consequences for the 15% of the US population that suffer from chronic pain nearly 45 million people. Persistent pain has psychological and social implications for daily life. It can severely limit an individual s ability to work and be a productive member of society and decreases quality of life. In the face of increasing stigma and barriers to care, patients are struggling to procure the legal medications that alleviate their debilitating pain. In 2012, enough opioid prescriptions were written to cover every adult in America at least once , but that trend has already begun to be reversed. Last year, 17 million fewer opioid pain relievers were prescribed than in the year before. The concern is that the new guidelines and policies are blunt instruments that are denying patients who appropriately use their prescription opioids access to medications, rather then blocking access for the recreational, illicit user of opioids. There are reports of physicians who are wary about writing prescriptions for opioid pain relievers, those who blindly follow guidelines without considering the nuances of an individuals needs, and those who have ... According to Descartes , As I think about this more carefully, I see plainly that there are never any sure signs by means of which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep. This is the fundamental principle of the Dreaming Argument. The scenarios in which we experience whilst we are asleep are comparable to the scenarios we experience whilst we are awake. Often, we struggle to tell from our own perspective where our experiences are derived from; it is difficult to differentiate whether our experiences stem from reality or our dreams. The issue with this is that our unconscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be challenged as to sit in a lecture you must be certain that you re sitting in a lecture, but you cannot be certain that you are not actually dreaming, therefore you cannot be certain that you re sitting in a lecture. P2 there is no way to be certain that the experiences we perceive to be reality are our reality. Descartes argues that there is no way that we can be completely certain that such experiences are not unconscious experiences, Any experience that strikes me as waking experiences such that I am perceiving the environment in a normal way are indistinguishable from possible dreaming experiences. An objection to this argument is that we can distinguish being awake and being asleep. If we can remember our dreams once we are awake, we can recognise them as dreams as they generally don t make sense which differs from our logical conscious experiences. Dreams are usually only coherent for a short period of time which is a distinct difference from being awake. Once we are conscious, even our most vivid unconscious experiences can be recognised as dreams. Your waking experiences can be intensely recalled whereas you do not always remember your unconscious experiences. We believe customer service needs to be embedded in all aspects of our company principles and seen as an opportunity to gain achieving tactical economical advantage. So what does this mean? From the first phone call to our last interaction with the customer we want them to feel as this has been the best experience possible. It begins with our face of the company. That could be a greeter at the front door, or our team member answering a phone call. At that initial point of contact it is our goal to invite the customer in to a friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating atmosphere. Secondly, we want all internal customers to assist our external customers with any help or guidance they need without making them feel as if they have inconvenienced us. Listening to our customers will help improve the customer experience and lead to quicker solutions. Finally, we want our customers to not only come back, but to promote our business through word of mouth. That is where we will gain our economic advantage. It s 5 times harder to get a new client than it is to get repeat business from an existing client (Sivers). We need to utilize all aspects of customer service to not only retain the customers we do have but also to create an experience that invites new customers to our store.
