Attentive Anxiety
Anxiety Anxiety is a reaction to potential dangers, while fear connects with direct menace. Anxiety
involves less organized behavior than fear phobias. Although being listed in DSM IV as anxiety
disorders, connect to direct threats. The neural circuits of anxiety and fear are different. Fear is the
key affect in PTSD and its function is stimulating defence. Thus, PTSD can be a disorder of
defence. That PTSD is harmful and disabling does not automatically deny possibly adaptive job.
The most necessary a feature is for survival the more it will be conserved over evolutionary time.
Attentive immobility Attentive immobility is a transitional condition of high excitement and
hypervigilance that takes after recognition of a conceivable quick risk. Attentive immobility keeps
the set out still toward cautious appraisal of risk, gives crypsis and makes preparations for flight or
forceful barrier. Attentive immobility includes centered consideration, heart deceleration, absense
of pain and potentiated startle. Attentive immobility is especially articulated in rats, making them
valuable research subjects, yet it is a familiar human experience, unlike to the unfamiliar tonic

Joseph Turner Poem
Joseph Mallard William Turner s oil painting done on canvas, Slavers Throwing Overboard the
Dead and the Dying: Typhoon Coming On (1840; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) is a beautiful
painting with a lot of movement and colors, it is a landscape painting of the sea during sunset.
This paining memorializes an incident 60 years earlier, in which the British Empire s slave
trade ship, the Zong, tossed overboard the sick and dying slaves.. Malnutrition and disease on
boad the Zong claimed the life of 70 white men and 60 African slaves before the commander,
Luke Collingwood ordered that 133 living slaves be cast overboard. Upon the Zong s return to
England, they fabricated a story justifying the murder of the slaves: it was necessary to kill them
due to an insufficient water supply. However, this was proven false and when the owner claimed
full value for the slaves, he were denied by the insurers. This example amongst many others of the
ill treatment of slaves due to selfishness and greed inspired the formation of the Anti Slave trade
movement four years later. Turner s painting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He displayed this same poem along with his oil painting done in 1812, Snow storm: Hannibal
and his army crossing the alps. It again invokes a deep sympathy in the viewer for the humans in
the painting; their vulnerability in the faces of a dangerous storm. Not all of his paintings
depicted man s struggle in nature. Other displayed harmony between the two. S. Giorgio

shore of a large building. The sky and sea are pale yellow and the buildings lining the horizon are
blue. The buildings have a defined shape and the boats are more elusive in their form. The bottom

Post Traumatic Stess Disorder
Post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD; what is it, what are the symptoms, how is it diagnosed,
can it be treated, what affects does it have on the family? As I have personally seen PTSD; these
are some of the questions I asked myself on weekly bases. Now that I have reoccurring thoughts
about my personal situations, I find myself asking some of the same questions after each
deployment. I wonder I am going to come back the man I was or come back an unrecognizable
void. I have done extensive research on the disorder to try to answer some of the questions that has
plagued me throughout my career, and by sharing with you what I have found, the information may
give someone else a little more insight of what the disorder really is. What is... Show more content

For some people these therapies work their best together and for others just one does the job. The
first therapy is exposure therapy, exposure therapy asks patients to confront, in a safe way, the very
situations, objects, people and memories they have attached to the trauma (Foa 2001) This therapy
helps the patient confront their fears in a healthy way, to try to slay the beast and get on with their
lives. The second therapy is anxiety management. Anxiety management is five techniques taught to
people that help cope with the anxiety experienced from PTSD. The five techniques are, breathing
training, relaxation, assertiveness training, positive thinking and self talk [and] thought stopping.
These techniques help people calm down enough to cope with their fears slowly, and is usually is
used with the exposure therapy process. The third therapy is cognitive therapy. Cognitive therapy is
positive thinking and helps you understand how your thoughts affect your feelings. (Foa 2001) By
using these four steps the therapy helps achieve positive feelings and thoughts. Step one, become
more aware of distressing thoughts. Step two, pay attention to connections between your thoughts,
feelings and behaviors. Step three, challenge (talk back to) your negative thoughts. Last but not
least step four, substitute positive thoughts for negative ones. (Foa, 2001) Psychotherapy is a

Shadow Walker Training Narrative
Your Shadow Walker training has progressed very well, John. As Miss Colette told you the day
you left the inn, I have seen great potential in you. I believe that with this training, you will be
able to help protect this village from the evils that have recently approached it. Our enemies
have encircled us from all sides. Take your skills and knowledge and wipe them all out.
Daedalus told his apprentice one day. Thank you for your training sir. I will take the skill I
learned Piercing Strike and defeat all of the rat like creatures that plagued our village. Good! I
like your train of thought. Here, take this pack of small healing potions. They will help you
during battle. John reached out and grabbed the small bag. Inside were five small bottles of blood
red liquid. This liquid must be the healing potions. Hopefully it doesn t taste like blood.... Once he

There were five Tier One items. There was a rusted steel sword, an old dagger, a Glenfort shirt, a
pair of Glenfort handwraps, and a pair of Glenfort pants. Both the rusted steel sword and the old
dagger came with their respective sheaths. The Glenfort shirt was basically a patched, long sleeved
gray shirt coupled with a thin, leather chest armor. The Glenfort handwraps were basically thin
strips of unused leather sewn together. The Glenfort pants was blue in color and provided
somewhat better protection than his tattered pants. The rusted steel sword, though chipped, was
sharp enough to cut through flesh and hide...same thing with the old dagger. John grimaced at the
quality of his weapons...five gold coins...ten years of part time work...all gone and all he got was
such shitty equipment. Nevertheless, shitty or not, they still provided some protection and attack
power much better than what he had before. With a sigh, John quickly put the new equipment on

The Magazine Ladies Repository Magazine
The magazine Ladies Repository: A Monthly Periodical Devoted to Literature, Arts, and Religion
is a magazine that was published in 1800 and was targeted towards young women. The magazine
was a way to help teach and encourage women of the time on how to properly fit in and behave
according to the rules that society had placed on them. It taught them how to be considered an ideal,
cultured womanwith high morals and spiritual standards. Although many readers today would argue
that the teachings and ideas taught by this magazine are extremely outdated and outrageously
sexist, one must realize that this was society s standard for women during the 1800 s.
The Ladies Repository magazine is a monthly issued magazine that is dedicated to teaching its
readers, mostly young Christian women, about literature, arts and religion. It is issued by the
Methodist church in Cincinnati and written mostly by ministers. Each issue of the magazine was
published from the year 1841 to 1876.
The articles in the December 1841 issue of the magazine contains a series of well written essays
about life lessons for women, moral character, religion, ancient fortifications, deity and nature,
various exerts of poetry, various examples of literature from different countries in their native
language, phrenology, the reformed inebriate, motherhood, the training of girls, history, science,

Comparing The Two Creation Stories
Michael Gugliotta
10/23/14
English 2 Honors
Mrs. Salvatorelli
The Similarities of the Two Creation Stories The story of Creation in the Bible begins with God
creating a human in his own image, naming him Adam. He created a human to carry out his
commandments and to be good. Then, God created Eve, a companion for Adam. Adam and Eve
were persuaded by Satan, in the form of a serpent, and took a bite out of the apple that God told
them not to eat. When God found out, they were banned from the Garden of Eden. In Mary Shelly s,
Frankenstein, Victor constructs a monster as a template for a new race that would worship him.
Unfortunately, Victor did not think past the moment of birth, and the monster, who should have
been Victor s Adam, instead associated more with Satan. Unlike the creation story of Adam and
Eve, the creation story of Frankenstein is one that goes horribly wrong due to the pursuit of
knowledge. In Frankenstein, Victor creates the monster for selfish reasons. Victor did not know
if reanimating life was possible, but my imagination was too much exalted... to permit me to
doubt of my ability of to give life to an animal as complex and wonderful as man (57). The
impression of Victor creating a creature in his own image relates to the story of Adam and Eve.
God created Adam and Eve to bring new life to Earth. He also wanted them to carry out his laws
and treat each other and everything they encountered with adoration and respect. Like God, Victor
wanted his creature

Winter Break Research Paper
During the winter break, I did a lot of things and I spent most of the time with my family and
friends. One of the things, I did during the break was to go meet my uncle in Hayward,
California. It was a very long drive but it was worth it. When we went there I met cousins who I
haven t seen for a long time. Then my cousins and I went to the mall to do some shopping. Then
on our way back from the mall, we went to theater to watch a movie. We spent our Christmasin
Hayward and I got a lot of presents. Then we came back to Bakersfield one day after Christmas.
Second thing, I did was that I went to go meet my elementary friend. She wanted me to come

from the airport. On our way back from the airport, we stopped at In N Out Burger to get
something to eat. They stayed in Bakersfield for 5 days. We planned a party for the New Year s
which was pretty fun. One night we planned to stay awake the whole night just to see if we can
stay awake. But none of us stayed awake for the whole night. When all the days passed and they
had to leave, I was pretty sad that they were leaving. In the spare that I had in this break, I
watched T.V, listened to music, and read books. When there was only one days left of winter

My area of interest in the field of exercise science is physical therapy. Consequently, the National
Organization that I researched was the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). This
organization uses the guiding principles of identity, quality, collaboration, value, innovation,
consumer centricity, access/equality, and advocacy to work toward and achieve their vision of

Long Term Effects Of Hunger In Africa
Africa was identified as the world s poorest inhabited continent. We waste over 30 million pounds
of food a year. That food that we waste can go to African. To help people in need of food. This
year, nearly 9 million children younger than five years old will die needlessly, more than half from
hunger related causes. Chronic hungeraffects more than 925 million people in the world and is, in
and of itself, a potentially deadly condition. Poor people do not have the resources whether land,
tools or money needed to grow or buy food on a consistent basis. People in African starve each day.
Not every poor person is hungry, but almost all hungry people are poor. More and more kids die
each day of thirst and starvation. Millions live with hunger and malnourishment because they
simply cannot afford to buy enough food, cannot afford nutritious foods or cannot afford the
farming supplies they need to grow enough good food of their own.
What s it like to live a life of an African? Similarly, women in hunger are so deficient of basic
nutrients that 315,000 die during childbirth from hemorrhaging every year. Most of the girls have

The Teenage Sex Life And The Understanding These Teenagers
Ellen Wittlinger grabbed my attention with her groundbreaking novel targeting a racy topic
which includes the teenage sex life and the understanding these teenagers have. She wrote about
what most authors would be to afraid to tackle and even did so from a teenage point of view.
Wittlinger pushed some boundaries and touched on subjects one may be hesitant to speak of
aloud. The protagonist and main character of the book is Sandpiper Ragsdale. Sandpiper is 15
years old and attends high school like many other teens her age, but her life isn t so simple. At
this school, Sandpiper has given herself a bad reputation. She has lost her few friends because
she is known for hooking up with a lot of different guys; a problem that will come back and
affect her later. Sandpiper doesn t take into account the boy s feelings when she leaves them out
of boredom. At home, Sandpiper s parents have been divorced for a while. Her father cheated on
her mother who was distraught, but has now met someone else. This leaves her estranged from
her father. Sandpiper isn t sure if she likes her new stepfather or stepsister, but is prepared to
tolerate both of them. Daisy, her younger sister, and her argue a lot and don t see eye to eye very
much. Sandpiper sees her little sister as young and clueless, while Daisy sees Sandpiper as dull
and too grown up for her actual age. Sandpiper is feeling pretty alone until she gets saved from a
potentially messy situation by a boy known as the Walker. Walker will

Persuasive Essay On Healthy Lifestyle
The Healthy Lifestyle Everybody sees it everywhere. Lose 60 pounds in 6 weeks! Skinny is
what s in! Detox diet plan! It s a fair assumption to assume that the world, especially the United
States, is obsessed with being healthy. From celebrity workout programs to expensive diet
systems that make people lose weight, being fit is always what s mainly focused on in the
media, daily life, and nationwide. But with obsessions, come unhealthy actions and interests.
Most people that anyone knows is most likely upset with some aspect of themselves. Whether it
be the way they look, how they eat, or their lifestyle, obsession happens because of the nearly
impossible body types and lifestyles found on social media. On top of this, there are also
restrictions and challenges that come with eating a healthy diet that seem simply irradical to
address, and unhealthier foods are more available than ever. With these slowly arising issues,
anyone would think the nation is making it hard for themselves to be healthy. The society the
nation lives in is making it progressively harder and harder to be healthy because of the lifestyles
that are easier to achieve. While most agree that being healthy and active is a good thing, some
feel that being healthy is too much of a chore, and would rather point fun at the people who choose
to have more beneficial lifestyles. Many people in the nation contradict their wants to be in good
health by harassing others who already have healthy

Hero Is A Hero Essay
A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself (Joseph
Campbell Quotes). Heroes impact other people s lives by contributing to a cause that makes a
positive change in the world. To me, a hero is somebody who believes in a significant cause,
dedicates his entire life to improving the cause, and changes the world for the better. Heroism
today can be found all over the world and in all different forms. It could be as small as standing
up for a victim of bullying, voicing your opinions for an important cause, or helping someone in a
dangerous situation. However, it could also be as big as finding the cure for a disease, saving
people from a burning building, or inventing a life saving device. The unifying... Show more

This drove her to take her education into her own hands and pave her own path to success. Since
Britain did not permit her to earn a degree, she decided to move to France so she could earn it
there. When she returned to Britain, Garrett founded New Hospital for Women in London, which
was staffed entirely by women. Later, Garrett continued to encourage women to go into medicine
and helped found the London Medical College for Women, where she taught for several years.
She later retired to Aldeburgh and made history by becoming the first female mayor in Britain.
After a successful life, she passed away at age 81 in Suffolk. Garrett s character traits that helped
her achieve several accomplishments throughout her life resemble those of a hero; she is
courageous, determined, and has a strong sense of purpose. These traits enable a hero to make a

Elizabeth Garrett Anderson was determined to accomplish her goals and was willing to combat any

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas
The purpose of this essay is to analyze one of the more popular and well known poems written by
Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. The poem relates to the
shortness of life and the inevitability of death that should not be easily accepted, which was a
common theme for Dylan Thomas. This is ironic given the poet s early death from a drunken
binge in New York City while he was visiting the United States as part of a tour in which he recited
his poems to adoring fans.
Thomas powerful message is contained in the form of a villanelle. The villanelle is a highly
structured poem which makes use of a great deal of repetition in its standard nineteen lines. The
first five stanzas are tercets while the sixth and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loss of one s faculties can make life seem unbearable but Thomas wants his father to focus on life
s positive aspects and not dwell on the negativity.
In the sixth and final stanza, Thomas speaks to his father directly, having finished his four
examples of men who fight death ( And you, my father, there on that sad height ). Thomas
implores his father on the precipice of death to speak ill or good, as long as it is done with
passion ( Curse, bless me know with your fierce tears, I pray ). The poet realizes passion may
stave off death. He also hopes his father might identify with the four types of men cited in the poem
as Thomas apparently viewed his father as an intelligent and decent, but very ill, free spirit.
Of course, Thomas message isn t meant only for his father. It is normal to have regrets late in
life. It is not uncommon for people to give up hope and look upon death as a welcome prospect.
Yet Thomas realizes that life is better than death, which is the ultimate destroyer of hope in this
life. The poet also reminds us to seize the day and make the most of whatever time we have.
The issue Thomas addresses in his poem can be a very difficult one which all of us may face at
some point. Choosing life over death can be especially difficult for the terminally ill. Their plight
can have a dramatic effect on family members and other loved ones who

Analysis Of Alan Turing s Views On Morality
I way society reacted to Alan Turning being gay, made me think about morally. Is there a set

passionate relationship with Christopher that to some would not have been morally right would we

Think of the people that kill and justify it with faith or love. Belief and emotions can change
someone ideas of morally and the big question is where is the line. When do we need to look at a
problem like a computer not a person. We sometimes need to turn off are fear and emotion and
decide what is the best way to save the most people. The problem is the train problem, if a train
was going down a track and you had to either flip the switch and kill one man or kill twenty most
people would flip the switch. But if you had the same case but instead of flipping the switch you
had to push the man on the tracks most could not do it. This is because we are emotional people,
but we do have the practical and analytical intelligence and can analyze I problem and see the
math you lose one or twenty. But maybe it would be I good things to turn off care for a second
and push the man in front of the train because wouldn t can save twenty men. This is why we are
not computers, we have morally and emotions that can we very helpful but sometimes hurtful. The
train case one s care and lack of strength lead to twenty deaths instead of one, so the question is
can morally and emotional be a demerit. Would certain times be better if we could think like

Political Party Viewpoints
Quite often, people are eager to proclaim whether they are a democrat or a republican, yet many of
these people use these political terms because they have been told to, rather than actually resonating
with the beliefs of said political party. Preferably, voters should research issues most important to
them and figure out their own stances, then commit to the political partywith the most similar
viewpoint by examining the party s platform from a reliable source. Political parties are voluntary,

The lack of social programs does not improve quality of life and it is bothersome that people who
call themselves pro life will not support programs like welfare, food stamps, and housing
assistance. The lack of funding for these programs causes many people to hurt financially. This
also flaws the Republican idea of how to fix the national debt. The Republicans believe that trickle
down economics work and that the people will spend their money on American goods to help

Imagine a world where superheroes were real. Marvel has been winding tales much like these for
years, inspiring both the young and the old, since 1939. They created their own storyline
combining current topics and events and adding a dash of somewhat mystical pizzazz that is not
only gripping but intriguing. In their world you follow superheroes through their lives, learning
their stories and not only understanding them on the level of a super but on a personal level.
There are iconic superhero figures that most would recognize like Captain America and Iron Man.

the others, would be back to help fight for it but under no other circumstances was Tony hearing
from them. This could mean the end of the Avengers and possibly a split in the superhero

What Does Bob Euwell Symbolize In To Kill A Mockingbird
Birds, in itself, is thought out to naturally be an animal of peace and prosperity. They are
symbolic creatures to many. However, one bird in particular brings joy and music to all, and that is
the Mockingbird. This bird in particular is mentioned many times throughout Harper Lee s novel,
To Kill a Mockingbird. The Mockingbird is a type of unique, songbird. These birds copy a tune, and
soon enough those birds all start to copy each other, or mock . These birds only bring harmony and
peace, which is why it is said to be a sin if you were to killone. The same way birds can bring
harmony and peace, humans can also cause either peace or destruction. Three characters who are a

Marxist View On Gender Inequality
As a social institution, gender is a process of creating distinguishable social statuses for the
assignment of rights and responsibilities. As part of a stratification system that ranks these statuses
unequally, gender is a major building block in the social structures built on these unequal statuses.
As a process, gender creates the social differences that define women and men . In social
interaction throughout their lives, individuals learn what is expected, see what is expected, act
and react in expected ways, and thus simultaneously construct and maintain the gender order: The
very injunction to be given gender takes place through discursive routes: to be a good mother, to
be a heterosexually desirable object, to be a fit worker, in sum, to signify a multiplicity of
guarantees in response to a variety of different demands all at once (Butler, 1990: 45).
Members of a social group neither make up gender as they go along nor exactly replicate in rote
fashion what was done before. In almost every encounter, human beings produce gender, behaving
in the ways they learned were appropriate for their gender status, or resisting, or rebelling against
these norms. Resistance and rebellion have altered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unionised men who could easily be replaced by women collude in this process because it allows
them to monopolise the better paid, more interesting, and more autonomous jobs: Two factors
emerge as helping men maintain their separation from women and their control of technological

of sub divisions in the work processes, and levels in work hierarchies, into which men can move in
order to keep their distance from women (Cockburn: 1985:

Costco is an American wholesale corporation that operates based on the membership warehouse

both Costco and Target have different target operation, they are the top two largest companies in
the retailer industry in the United States. In order to analyze and compare the financial health of
these two company, it is important to recognize these three key terms: liquidity, solvency, and
profitability. Liquidity is a financial term used to determine the ability of a company to pay off
its short term debts, which will be due within the next year or in an operating cycle. In another
word, liquidity is a very important indicator to evaluate a company s financial health. Liquidity
ratio shows a comparison between the most liquid assets and short term obligations of a
company. A higher liquidity expresses that the company has not only a better ability to pay off
its short term debts but also a greater amount of cash for an unexpected needs. In another word,
when a company has a low liquidity, the company may face a risk to pay its short term debt and
struggle to fund its long term operation. The current ratio is one of the most common and useful
terms used to measure the liquidity of a company. It suggests the capability of a company to pay

Picasso s painting entitled Standing Figure depicts a nude woman with her arms crossed behind
her head. It was painted in 1908 during a key period of invention and experimentation, as Picasso
began to construct his paintings in a new way. The figure is translated into simplified, geometric
forms, reflecting Picasso s interest in the art of Africa and Oceania. Using only a few colors, he
focuses the viewer s attention on the intersection of these geometric forms. It seems as though
Picasso uses the blue lines in this painting like some sort of directional device, drawing attention to
the outline of the woman s figure. As we discussed in class, the style of cubism uses multiple or
contrasting vantage points. Another element of cubism is simplifying more complicated scenes
into geometric forms. Cubism rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature, or that
they should adopt the traditional techniques of perspective, modeling, and foreshortening. They
wanted instead to emphasize the two dimensionality of the canvas. Turner s Fall of the Rhine at
Schaffhausen , painted between 1805 and 1806, creates a sense of panic for the viewer. The water
has an overwhelming presence in this piece. Compared to the force of nature in the waterfall, the
people and animals are dwarfed. One woman is depicted rushing to try and save her child. Turner

Whichever candidate wins the popular vote in a particular state wins all of its electoral votes. Due
to changes in population, the number of representatives for each state changes every ten years with

five hundred thirty eight votes were apportioned to the fifty states and DC, making the magic

So just who are these electors? Electors are actual people selected for each election that vote

In Sherman Alexie’S The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part-Time
In Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, the protagonist struggles
throughout the novel by having two different selves: Junior, the outcast from the Reservation and
Arnold, from the white high school at Reardan. As a result of being two opposites, Junior s
behavior and personality drastically changes, affecting both himself and others around him.
Living in Wellpinit, Arnold Spirit gets nicknamed Junior from his fellow Spokane Tribal
members, is an outsider, and only has one friend, Rowdy. Daily Junior gets beaten up and bullied,
leaving him feel powerless and I unacknowledged. However, Junior has a loving family to come
home too. In contrast to going to school at Reardan, Junior is referred to as his birth... Show more

When after meeting Penelope, and growing a liking towards her, Arnold mistakenly considered
thinking about and asking what he can do to change his image for her. Hey buddy, he do I make
a beautiful white girl fall in love with me? Well buddy, the first thing you do is change the way
you look, the way you talk, and the way you walk. And then she ll think you re her freaking
Prince Charming (Alexie). This quote shows how his desperation and cloud of judgement
makes it difficult to finding his true self, his identity. In reaction to leaving the Reservation, and
going to Reardan High School, left not only Junior s Spokane Tribe members, but his best friend
betrayed. From here on, people at the Reservation started calling Junior an apple , not supporting
his decision for leaving. They call me an apple because they think I m red on the outside and
white in the inside (Alexie). This quote shows how Junior s tribe members found his actions
similar to a traitor and suggests he wants to become more of a white person. Apple stands for
having Indian as a race, but becoming white in the mind. The Spokane tribe still accepts Junior
to live in Wellpinit, hence they have not caused real harm to him, but feel forward to make
Junior become rewarded with hate and despair. Once Junior had told Rowdy of his school
choices, Rowdy did not take it lightly. I was the king of idiot that got punched in the face by his
best friend. Bang! Rowdy punched me. Bang! I hit the

Black Teenagers Defy Pop Culture Portrayals Summary
Hurtado
Paper 8
In the essay Black Teenagers Defy Pop Culture Portrayals , Laura Stepp talks about the
stereotypes black boys and girls face. They face being overly sexualized in pop culture, being
careless when it comes to sex, accused of want nothing but sex and becoming a teen parent. I was
somewhat aware of the stereotypes young black people face but not in depth.
I knew that black people were overly sexualized in pop culture and social media. But I wasn t
aware that people expect black youth to be teen parents and only care about sex. Teen pregnancy
has gone down significantly over two decades. The birth rate went down by 44% and is now 47%.
Black youth has the stereotype of being overly sexual. According to a survey taken

Low Thyroid Research Paper
пѓјDigestion: Low thyroid diminishes the release of Gastrin, which determines the productivity of
hydrochloric acid in the stomach, leading to poor protein digestion, sour belly and GERD.
пѓјThermoregulation: Regulation of body temperature is affected by low thyroid, occasioning in
hot flashes and night perspirations, which is particularly noticeable in pre menopausal females.
This is often accused on estrogen dropping, but may be openly caused by low thyroid.
пѓјPMS and infertility: Low thyroid affects the progesterone receptors, making them less sensitive
to progesterone, which feels like low progesterone although the progesterone levels may be
average. Since the activity of progesterone is reduced, the health of the uterus is inadequate for
embedding in the second half of the female cycle, leading to problems getting pregnant and PMS.
Low thyroid also decreases sex hormone binding proteins, leading to an upsurge in estrogen activity.
пѓјAnemia: Low thyroid, as cited affects protein metabolism, which then drops the red blood cell
mass, which transfers oxygen to tissues for metabolism of energy. Yes, another reason for feeling
lousy.
пѓјHomocysteine: Low thyroid decelerates a procedure called methylation, often verified by raised
serum levels of homocysteine. Raised homocysteine in the blood has been ... Show more content on

The Decline Of Fertility Rates
In 1930, Thompson developed one of the first theories to explain the decline in fertility rates
starting to be seen in industrializing nations (Thompson, 1930). Joined by Notestein in 1953, this
classical theory of demographic transition postulates that changes in social life from
industrialization and urbanization would cause first a decline in mortality followed by a decline in
fertility (Notestein, 1953; Mason, 1997). Since the early 20th century, the world has undergone
major demographic changes. In the first decade of the 21st century for the first time, the old
outnumbered the young, and the median number of children per woman fell below replacement
levels (Cohen, 2005). These major changes illustrate the now well known concept of... Show more

Demography is influenced by a multitude of factors, many of which are yet unknown or
unquantifiable. Demographic changes can arise from unsuspecting sources; for example Chong et
al (2008) found that the spread of soap operas in Brazil, which portrayed smaller families than
typical in Brazil, contributed to fertility decline in that country through shifting cultural ideals.
Acknowledging that demographic changes occur due to a great variety of economic, social,
cultural, ecologic and other causes, I will focus on the role that health policies can play in
demographic trends both pre and post the demographic transition by examining the cases of
Bangladesh and Germany.
I will also examine how demographic trends may influence economic growth. During the period of
population growth in the demographic transition, society may experience economic growth in what
is known as the demographic dividend. During this period, the population participating in the labor
force is greater than the dependent population, freeing up resources for innovation and investment
(Lee and Mason, 2006). However, this dividend is not guaranteed but must be created through a
conducive policy environment (Bloom et al, 2003). Post transition, economic growth continues to
be a concern as society confronts the burden of an aging, and potentially shrinking, population.

Bangladesh has been experiencing its demographic transition

Comparing Plato s Allegory Of The Cave And The Matrix
In Plato s Allegory of the Cave and the Wachowskis The Matrix, the ideas of truth are that it can
only be defined by how far one is willing to think outside of their own reality. Both the allegory
and the film depict truth as a key of sorts for individuals to break free from their imprisonment.
This can be seen by Neo s physical escape from the pod, which he had been unknowingly trapped
in his whole life and his ascension to light after being swept down the pod s tube. The tube
which swept Neo away is alike to the freed prisoner being dragged...into the sunlight by force in
Plato s allegory; the two characters are being forced to have their senses enlightened once they
ve been freed from the chains on their bodies (but their minds still need to get adjusted to seeing
the world in a new way). However, the allegory and the film differ in that Plato s prison is a
physical cave which houses it s prisoners, while the matrixis a program that confines people s
minds, thus is limitless while inside. With... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, it all comes down to perception, whether or not if that perception of ours is skewed.
This is why Plato stresses the importance of the upward journey which the freed prisoner takes,
how it is reached only with difficulty because of the external factors which can alter our minds.
It shows how the intelligible realm of our minds/ why we must constantly reflect upon and
question what we think, even if it s hard to do, because we as humans constantly strive to better
ourselves. Otherwise, on the most basic level of life, what else would be our purpose? The Matrix
film demonstrates this purpose in Neo s search for an answer to the question he had been
subconsciously asking, as he had always felt like something was wrong during his ignorance in the

The Importance Of A Cultural Framework That Is Suitable...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Budgets are very important part of business environment. They are considered to be essential key
drivers and evaluators for planning and control as well as managerial performance since 1920
(Reka et al., 2014). This report aims to investigate how to promote a cultural framework that is
suitable for the modern dynamic business environment. Firstly, it will explain the concept of
budgetary control, It will then point out advantages and disadvantages of the current traditional
system and how some weaknesses can be addressed by implementing Beyond Budgeting (BB) using
practical examples of organisations that have been successful and what were the problems that they
have encountered. It will also discuss why some organisations ... Show more content on

2.2 Benefits of Traditional Budgeting
Budgeting is a management control technique that can be used as an early warning system.
Budgets are of great help as a support performance management (Pietrzak, 2013). It can provide a
detailed information insight of the next fiscal year, which allows managers to set performance
objectives much more easily, make decisions and plan ahead. For example: When recession hit
Europe in 2008, Davis Service Group was able to assess effects and was able to build new and
accurate theories for the remainder of 2008. By recognizing and handling risks, Davis has been
able to return profits, dividends and cash flow for shareholders in a challenging economic
environment.
Budgets generate a point of reference, making it easier for managers to accomplish activities with
stability. As long as managers can meet the set parameters, budgeting and the use of budgetcost
centers provide them with the liberty to run their operations (Neely at al., 2003).
Budgets are a great communication tool used when obtaining information about company or e.g.
activities of its competitors. They also help in expressing ideas, goals and strategies of projects
between team members/employees and outside resources or potential investors, motivating
employee to drive forward.
2.3 Drawbacks of Traditional Budgeting
To make budgets is a very long and time consuming process, when organisations are trying to get
reliable and

Surrogate Motherhood Is Considered The Most Controversial...
Surrogate motherhood is considered the most controversial form of medically assisted
conception. Surrogacy is defined as an arrangement by which a woman gives birth to a baby on
behalf of a woman who is incapable of conceiving babies herself or is infertile. The issue of
surrogacy has been running for almost three decades. Elizabeth Cane was the first woman in the
United States to legally become a surrogate mother in 1980 (Chittom and Wagner). Surrogate births
are illegal in many countries, including some states in the United States. For example, it is illegal in
Michigan, Washington, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and New York, whereas it legal in California,
Oregon, Texas, and Arkansas (Chittom and Wagner). According to the Organization of Parents
Through Surrogacy(OPTS), about 22,000 babies have been born from surrogate mothers in the
United States since surrogacy became legal in the 1970s (Chittom and Wagner).
There are two types of surrogacy: traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy. In traditional
surrogacy, the surrogate mother is impregnated using the sperm of the intended father by a
procedure called donor insemination. In this case, the surrogate mother and the intended father are
genetically related to the baby. In gestational surrogacy, a procedure called in vitro fertilization is
used to impregnate the surrogate mother using a couple s fertilized ovum (Chittom and Wagner).
There are two types of surrogacy arrangements: altruistic and commercial. In

The Radical Change During The Renaissance Of A Young Boy...
How could a statue of a young boy with unconvincing looks as a hero be a notorious work of art?
With one glance at the statue, would you believe that this young man could have slain a giant?
The story of David and Goliath was very prevalent at the time, and during this period in history, it
was commissioned by Cosimo de Medici to represent the city of Florence. Florence wanted to show
this representation of Davidthrough his strength, courage, and youthful confidence in its city. So,
dating back to the 1440s, David was a prominent aspect of Renaissanceart. The radical change
during the Renaissance led artists to alter the original composition of David. Some could agree that
this change may have given spectators a different outlook on the meaning and subliminal messages
that this statue possess. Different artists, such as Donatello, Michelangelo, and others, all portrayed
David in different perspectives. The many different compositions of David would lead one to think,
what is the importance behind this sculpture?
Standing a little over 5 feet in height and being a familiar work of art, Donatello s David is
frequently admired and discussed. Going back to the early life of the biblical David, Donatello
depicts him in a youthful manner. With the exaggerated pose, his hand being positioned at the back
of the hip, Donatello portrays the adolescent as an unconvincing hero to underscore the ability of
virtue and overcome the tyranny (Sayre 2015, 478). Not only was this

The advantages of seeking out professional snow removal services include but not limited to the
following;
1. Reduced Risk of Developing Certain Health Conditions
A few years ago, a study of emergency room heart patients in Ontario, Canada, revealed that 7
percent of the patients had been shoveling snow when they first suffered from the symptoms of
heart problems.
Shoveling, a hand held snow blower can cause unexpected increase in blood pressure as well as
heart rate. Another thing is that the freezing, cold air can cause contraction of the blood vessel and
reduce the amount of oxygen supply to the heart. This can increase the heart rate leading to a fatal
heart attack, especially for the middle aged people with a family history of heart problems.
What s more, shoveling over prolonged periods of time may also cause back problems. Therefore,
it is a good decision to invest in a commercial snow removal service.
2. Commercial Snow Removal Companies Have the Right Tools of the Trade and Expertise
A professional commercial snow removal company has the proper equipment and experts that are
needed to handle your snow removal project safely, effectively and

Joseph Turner Poem Joseph Mallard William Turner s oil painting done on canvas, Slavers Throwing Overboard the Dead and the Dying: Typhoon Coming On (1840; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) is a beautiful painting with a lot of movement and colors, it is a landscape painting of the sea during sunset. This paining memorializes an incident 60 years earlier, in which the British Empire s slave trade ship, the Zong, tossed overboard the sick and dying slaves.. Malnutrition and disease on boad the Zong claimed the life of 70 white men and 60 African slaves before the commander, Luke Collingwood ordered that 133 living slaves be cast overboard. Upon the Zong s return to England, they fabricated a story justifying the murder of the slaves: it was necessary to kill them due to an insufficient water supply. However, this was proven false and when the owner claimed full value for the slaves, he were denied by the insurers. This example amongst many others of the ill treatment of slaves due to selfishness and greed inspired the formation of the Anti Slave trade movement four years later. Turner s painting... The first therapy is exposure therapy, exposure therapy asks patients to confront, in a safe way, the very situations, objects, people and memories they have attached to the trauma (Foa 2001) This therapy helps the patient confront their fears in a healthy way, to try to slay the beast and get on with their lives. The second therapy is anxiety management. Anxiety management is five techniques taught to people that help cope with the anxiety experienced from PTSD. The five techniques are, breathing training, relaxation, assertiveness training, positive thinking and self talk [and] thought stopping. These techniques help people calm down enough to cope with their fears slowly, and is usually is used with the exposure therapy process. The third therapy is cognitive therapy. Cognitive therapy is positive thinking and helps you understand how your thoughts affect your feelings. (Foa 2001) By using these four steps the therapy helps achieve positive feelings and thoughts. Step one, become more aware of distressing thoughts. Step two, pay attention to connections between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Step three, challenge (talk back to) your negative thoughts. Last but not least step four, substitute positive thoughts for negative ones. (Foa, 2001) Psychotherapy is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Comparing The Two Creation Stories Michael Gugliotta 10/23/14 English 2 Honors Mrs. Salvatorelli The Similarities of the Two Creation Stories The story of Creation in the Bible begins with God creating a human in his own image, naming him Adam. He created a human to carry out his commandments and to be good. Then, God created Eve, a companion for Adam. Adam and Eve were persuaded by Satan, in the form of a serpent, and took a bite out of the apple that God told them not to eat. When God found out, they were banned from the Garden of Eden. In Mary Shelly s, Frankenstein, Victor constructs a monster as a template for a new race that would worship him. Unfortunately, Victor did not think past the moment of birth, and the monster, who should have been Victor s Adam, instead associated more with Satan. Unlike the creation story of Adam and Eve, the creation story of Frankenstein is one that goes horribly wrong due to the pursuit of knowledge. In Frankenstein, Victor creates the monster for selfish reasons. Victor did not know if reanimating life was possible, but my imagination was too much exalted... to permit me to doubt of my ability of to give life to an animal as complex and wonderful as man (57). The impression of Victor creating a creature in his own image relates to the story of Adam and Eve. God created Adam and Eve to bring new life to Earth. He also wanted them to carry out his laws and treat each other and everything they encountered with adoration and respect. Like God, Victor wanted his creature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Teenage Sex Life And The Understanding These Teenagers Ellen Wittlinger grabbed my attention with her groundbreaking novel targeting a racy topic which includes the teenage sex life and the understanding these teenagers have. She wrote about what most authors would be to afraid to tackle and even did so from a teenage point of view. Wittlinger pushed some boundaries and touched on subjects one may be hesitant to speak of aloud. The protagonist and main character of the book is Sandpiper Ragsdale. Sandpiper is 15 years old and attends high school like many other teens her age, but her life isn t so simple. At this school, Sandpiper has given herself a bad reputation. She has lost her few friends because she is known for hooking up with a lot of different guys; a problem that will come back and affect her later. Sandpiper doesn t take into account the boy s feelings when she leaves them out of boredom. At home, Sandpiper s parents have been divorced for a while. Her father cheated on her mother who was distraught, but has now met someone else. This leaves her estranged from her father. Sandpiper isn t sure if she likes her new stepfather or stepsister, but is prepared to tolerate both of them. Daisy, her younger sister, and her argue a lot and don t see eye to eye very much. It s a fair assumption to assume that the world, especially the United States, is obsessed with being healthy. From celebrity workout programs to expensive diet systems that make people lose weight, being fit is always what s mainly focused on in the media, daily life, and nationwide. But with obsessions, come unhealthy actions and interests. Most people that anyone knows is most likely upset with some aspect of themselves. Whether it be the way they look, how they eat, or their lifestyle, obsession happens because of the nearly impossible body types and lifestyles found on social media. On top of this, there are also restrictions and challenges that come with eating a healthy diet that seem simply irradical to address, and unhealthier foods are more available than ever. With these slowly arising issues, anyone would think the nation is making it hard for themselves to be healthy. The society the nation lives in is making it progressively harder and harder to be healthy because of the lifestyles that are easier to achieve. While most agree that being healthy and active is a good thing, some feel that being healthy is too much of a chore, and would rather point fun at the people who choose to have more beneficial lifestyles. Many people in the nation contradict their wants to be in good health by harassing others who already have healthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heroism today can be found all over the world and in all different forms. It could be as small as standing up for a victim of bullying, voicing your opinions for an important cause, or helping someone in a dangerous situation. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas The purpose of this essay is to analyze one of the more popular and well known poems written by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. The poem relates to the shortness of life and the inevitability of death that should not be easily accepted, which was a common theme for Dylan Thomas. This is ironic given the poet s early death from a drunken binge in New York City while he was visiting the United States as part of a tour in which he recited his poems to adoring fans. Thomas implores his father on the precipice of death to speak ill or good, as long as it is done with passion ( Curse, bless me know with your fierce tears, I pray ). The poet realizes passion may stave off death. He also hopes his father might identify with the four types of men cited in the poem as Thomas apparently viewed his father as an intelligent and decent, but very ill, free spirit. Yet Thomas realizes that life is better than death, which is the ultimate destroyer of hope in this life. The poet also reminds us to seize the day and make the most of whatever time we have. As part of a stratification system that ranks these statuses unequally, gender is a major building block in the social structures built on these unequal statuses. As a process, gender creates the social differences that define women and men . In social interaction throughout their lives, individuals learn what is expected, see what is expected, act and react in expected ways, and thus simultaneously construct and maintain the gender order: The very injunction to be given gender takes place through discursive routes: to be a good mother, to be a heterosexually desirable object, to be a fit worker, in sum, to signify a multiplicity of guarantees in response to a variety of different demands all at once (Butler, 1990: 45). Members of a social group neither make up gender as they go along nor exactly replicate in rote fashion what was done before. Hey buddy, he do I make a beautiful white girl fall in love with me? Well buddy, the first thing you do is change the way you look, the way you talk, and the way you walk. And then she ll think you re her freaking Prince Charming (Alexie). This quote shows how his desperation and cloud of judgement makes it difficult to finding his true self, his identity. In reaction to leaving the Reservation, and going to Reardan High School, left not only Junior s Spokane Tribe members, but his best friend betrayed. From here on, people at the Reservation started calling Junior an apple , not supporting his decision for leaving. They call me an apple because they think I m red on the outside and white in the inside (Alexie). This quote shows how Junior s tribe members found his actions similar to a traitor and suggests he wants to become more of a white person. Apple stands for having Indian as a race, but becoming white in the mind. The Spokane tribe still accepts Junior to live in Wellpinit, hence they have not caused real harm to him, but feel forward to make Junior become rewarded with hate and despair. They face being overly sexualized in pop culture, being careless when it comes to sex, accused of want nothing but sex and becoming a teen parent. I was somewhat aware of the stereotypes young black people face but not in depth. I knew that black people were overly sexualized in pop culture and social media. But I wasn t aware that people expect black youth to be teen parents and only care about sex. Teen pregnancy has gone down significantly over two decades. Low Thyroid Research Paper пѓјDigestion: Low thyroid diminishes the release of Gastrin, which determines the productivity of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, leading to poor protein digestion, sour belly and GERD. пѓјThermoregulation: Regulation of body temperature is affected by low thyroid, occasioning in hot flashes and night perspirations, which is particularly noticeable in pre menopausal females. This is often accused on estrogen dropping, but may be openly caused by low thyroid. пѓјPMS and infertility: Low thyroid affects the progesterone receptors, making them less sensitive to progesterone, which feels like low progesterone although the progesterone levels may be average. • 45. The Decline Of Fertility Rates In 1930, Thompson developed one of the first theories to explain the decline in fertility rates starting to be seen in industrializing nations (Thompson, 1930). Joined by Notestein in 1953, this classical theory of demographic transition postulates that changes in social life from industrialization and urbanization would cause first a decline in mortality followed by a decline in fertility (Notestein, 1953; Mason, 1997). Since the early 20th century, the world has undergone major demographic changes. In the first decade of the 21st century for the first time, the old outnumbered the young, and the median number of children per woman fell below replacement levels (Cohen, 2005). These major changes illustrate the now well known concept of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Demography is influenced by a multitude of factors, many of which are yet unknown or unquantifiable. Demographic changes can arise from unsuspecting sources; for example Chong et al (2008) found that the spread of soap operas in Brazil, which portrayed smaller families than typical in Brazil, contributed to fertility decline in that country through shifting cultural ideals. Acknowledging that demographic changes occur due to a great variety of economic, social, cultural, ecologic and other causes, I will focus on the role that health policies can play in demographic trends both pre and post the demographic transition by examining the cases of Bangladesh and Germany. I will also examine how demographic trends may influence economic growth. During the period of population growth in the demographic transition, society may experience economic growth in what is known as the demographic dividend. During this period, the population participating in the labor force is greater than the dependent population, freeing up resources for innovation and investment (Lee and Mason, 2006). However, this dividend is not guaranteed but must be created through a conducive policy environment (Bloom et al, 2003). Post transition, economic growth continues to be a concern as society confronts the burden of an aging, and potentially shrinking, population. Making the demographic transition: Bangladesh Bangladesh has been experiencing its demographic transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Comparing Plato s Allegory Of The Cave And The Matrix In Plato s Allegory of the Cave and the Wachowskis The Matrix, the ideas of truth are that it can only be defined by how far one is willing to think outside of their own reality. Both the allegory and the film depict truth as a key of sorts for individuals to break free from their imprisonment. This can be seen by Neo s physical escape from the pod, which he had been unknowingly trapped in his whole life and his ascension to light after being swept down the pod s tube. The tube which swept Neo away is alike to the freed prisoner being dragged...into the sunlight by force in Plato s allegory; the two characters are being forced to have their senses enlightened once they ve been freed from the chains on their bodies (but their minds still need to get adjusted to seeing the world in a new way). However, the allegory and the film differ in that Plato s prison is a physical cave which houses it s prisoners, while the matrixis a program that confines people s minds, thus is limitless while inside. Budgets are of great help as a support performance management (Pietrzak, 2013). It can provide a detailed information insight of the next fiscal year, which allows managers to set performance objectives much more easily, make decisions and plan ahead. By recognizing and handling risks, Davis has been able to return profits, dividends and cash flow for shareholders in a challenging economic environment. • 49. The Radical Change During The Renaissance Of A Young Boy... How could a statue of a young boy with unconvincing looks as a hero be a notorious work of art? With one glance at the statue, would you believe that this young man could have slain a giant? The story of David and Goliath was very prevalent at the time, and during this period in history, it was commissioned by Cosimo de Medici to represent the city of Florence. Florence wanted to show this representation of Davidthrough his strength, courage, and youthful confidence in its city. So, dating back to the 1440s, David was a prominent aspect of Renaissanceart. The radical change during the Renaissance led artists to alter the original composition of David. Some could agree that this change may have given spectators a different outlook on the meaning and subliminal messages that this statue possess. Different artists, such as Donatello, Michelangelo, and others, all portrayed David in different perspectives. The many different compositions of David would lead one to think, what is the importance behind this sculpture? Standing a little over 5 feet in height and being a familiar work of art, Donatello s David is frequently admired and discussed. Going back to the early life of the biblical David, Donatello depicts him in a youthful manner. With the exaggerated pose, his hand being positioned at the back of the hip, Donatello portrays the adolescent as an unconvincing hero to underscore the ability of virtue and overcome the tyranny (Sayre 2015, 478). Shoveling, a hand held snow blower can cause unexpected increase in blood pressure as well as heart rate. Another thing is that the freezing, cold air can cause contraction of the blood vessel and reduce the amount of oxygen supply to the heart.
