The American Revolution Research Paper
The American Revolution
The American Revolution was a political separation between Britain and the original Thirteen
Colonies. It occurred between the years 1765 and 1783, resulting in a lot of bloodshed and
casualties. With tension building between the two powers, the revolution was a battle that formed
what America is today. The Boston Tea Party
, the Boston Massacre, and the many taxes imposed
are factors to what lead the colonists to form together and fight Britain. The reason why America
won against its former owner is because of the alliance with France, the knowledge of the terrain,
and the determination that the soldiers had. The colonies were furious and tense, boycotts and riots
filled the streets in the year of 1765. The new act, which put ridiculous amounts of taxes on
common household necessities such as tea, left the colonists broke and turning the cold shoulder to
Great Britain. The years progressively got worse, seen on a ... Show more content on

Most of the colonists rebelled against Parliament s decisions of passing new laws, they were
angered by the creation of the Tea Act, and rebelled by dumping 18,000 pounds of tea into the
Boston Harbor, which was known as the Boston Tea Party. The colonists were determined to get
their independance from Great Britain, so after the battles of Lexington and Concord, the Second
Continental Congress met to decide what was to be done next. For example, Americans had a grand
cause: fighting for their rights, their independence and their liberty (American and British Strengths
and Weaknesses). This shows that the colonists were not just fighting to win, they were fighting for
their freedom, their rights, and their independance from Great Britain. Most of the American
military were civilians that were fighting because they wanted freedom and they were determined to

Similarities Between Marionettes Inc. And Dark They Were...
Ray Bradbury is an exceptionally great writer, who has written countless stories including The
Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451 . Bradbury was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1920 and
at age 14 moved to Los Angeles. In 1937 he joined a SciFi league and had his first book
published at the age of 18. He often writes about nostalgia for childhood, social criticism, and the
hazards of runaway technology. These are ideas the Bradbury believes in and feels strongly about.
This is shown in two of his short stories, Marionettes, Inc. and Dark They Were and Golden Eyed .
These stories characterize protagonists in similar ways and antagonists in different ways,
differently structures the plot and uses setting differently. The characterization... Show more content

that he will one day he will return to Earth, either on his own rocket or a different one . Also,
Bittering is resistant to the idea change as he starts to think things are changing he builds a

characterization where Bradbury uses actions to describe characters. What these characters

Settlers Vs. New England Colonies
Facing the New World
Entering a new territory filled with countless opportunities and possibilities came with prices to
pay and times of hardships for the pioneers from England. They quickly came to realize that the
grass was not always greener on the other side. They settled in different areas along the east coast,
such as New England, which included New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, and Rhode
Island. The other settlers came ashore just south of New England called the Chesapeake region,
which included Virginia and Maryland. When comparing the two groups, they both had different
and similar ways of thinking and establishing life in this new and unfamiliar territory. Without a
doubt, both experienced obstacles that they were forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Virginia was a predominantly agricultural region, the social gap between wealthy and poor
was exponential. In Virginia, there were the wealthy farmers and the poor slaves. There were very
few middle class citizens. The main source of income for the Chesapeake region was trade and
distribution of tobacco. Still lacking a substantial amount of females, the colony did not expand as
fast as it potentially could have.
New England lacked a significant social gap. Mostly everyone was middle class with the
exception of a very few. While New England was able to have some type of agriculture, they
relied mostly on industries such as shoemakers and blacksmiths and trade. Factors such as
population and resources allowed them to develop rapidly. This lead to large cities for this era and
a healthy economy.
Ecological differences forced different economical strategies for the two groups of settlers to
pursue. However, the differences in them opened up a way of trade. Both New England and
Virginia benefited from trade by getting things they desired that were difficult for them to obtain on

Expectancy and Role Conflicts Illustrated in Everybody...
Expectancy and Role Conflicts Illustrated in Everybody Loves Raymond Learning to communicate
efficiently and manage conflict successfully is challenging. Gaining cooperation between people is
complex and mentally demanding. Communication ways and conflict styles are deeply woven into
our personalities. Conflict is the expressed struggle of interdependent parties who perceive
incompatible goals, interference from the other party in achieving those goals, and the perception
of scarce resources. Perceptions are just as important as reality in regards to conflict. As stated in
the text, we encounter conflict as we compete for acceptance, love, recognition, position, power,
success, and many other goals. Judgments of the quality of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The conflict here is that Robert s goals were to experience the freedom from his parents and not
Amy. If either had used perception checking, it is possible that their conflict would have ended.
The Attribution Theory is based upon assigning meanings for another s behavior. What we think
to be true is not always accurate. It is necessary to implement proactive strategies such as
perception checking. Perception checking involves three components. They are as stated: 1.A
complete description of behavior observed 2.Provide two possible interpretations of the observed
behavior 3.Request for clarity In either case, both Robert and Amy entered the termination stage
together. As stated earlier and expressed here, conflict usually occurs because of incompatible
goals. Incompatible goals are often perceived in dialectical tensions of relationships. Leslie Baxter
formulated the Relationship Dialectical Theory. Usually it is opposing tensions that bring people
into conflicts in relationships. The number one cause for break ups is the relational dialectic,
integration/separation. The two opposing forces at war are the desire to bond (Amy) and the desire
for autonomy (Robert). Dr. McKinney illustrates these tensions as a contradiction; the idea of
conflict between desires in a relationship. Mediation is a wonderful process in negotiating a
solution between two parties thwarted by

Troposphere Refraction Lab
The Troposphere has atoms and molecules which affect the radio waves between the satellite and
the receiver. Due to the amount of gas present in this area group velocity decreases and the Zenith
angle contributes to the troposphere refraction. The lower the zenith angle the more affected is the
tropospheric refraction. Ionosphere and Troposphere has an influence on pseudo range and
Carrier phase measurement because of electrons present in this region that obstruct the signal
waves from the rover to the satellite, (Parker, 2003). Virtual Reference system with the GPSNET
software is able to model these errors and thus the errors are reduced. The Troposphere is non
dispersive for frequencies below 30 GHz, however the Troposphere adds a slight distance to the
range measurement.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

can be performed to eliminate this effect. Modelling of the Troposphere is a technique which can
be which can be up to 95 present effective; however the remaining five percentage is difficult to
remove. The effect on the signals travelling through the Troposphere to a receiver can be different
than that on the signal travelling to the base station, because the Troposphere is not homogeneous.
This can cause the corrections applied at the rover to cause inaccuracies, particularly when working
some distance from the base receiver. Care should therefore be taken to limit the distance between
the rover and the

Last Few Days
If you knew you only had a limited amount of time to live, how would you live your last few
days? Many people when they find out the end is near decide to make major changes in their
lives. Everybody copes with death in a different way; some tend to regret how they lived their
lives, beings too careful or worrying too much about what people think about them. Many wish
they would have been able to express their feelings more easily or done things which made them
happy. On the Beach by Nevil Shute is a book in which the spread of radiation will soon end the
lives of all living things. The characters only have a few months left to live, but how they decide to

miracle might happen, that maybe the radiation would not kill them. They spent their last days with

Disney CorporttionВґs Negative Influence in Children via...
What started out as cartoon shows such as Mickey Mouse has now changed into a profit driven
corporation. With TV shows, movies, clothing lines, toys, CDs, books, and theme parks, Disney
is creating billions in revenue. However, the profits are at the cost of the youth. One way the
youth are being harmed is children are absorbed in watching television shows that Disney plays
daily. The amount of time spent watching television has increased in the years, while the amount
of time spent playing games outside has decreased. Because of this, health issues in children have
risen, especially in the United States. Also, children begin to idolize the child actors from the
shows on Disney such as Miley Cyrusin Hannah Montana. Although some actresses are good role
models, most usually are not. Child actors are more likely to develop drug addictions, alcohol
addictions, and eating disorders than an average teenager. Not only are the child actors harmed
from being put into a crazy lifestyle, the children who idolize these actors are harmed as well.
Therefore, Disney s influence on the youth is harmful and should be limited. Obesity and other
health issues are become a problem for the youth in America. While poor diets contribute greatly to
the problem, there are other factors as well, for instance, lack of exercise or physical activity. With
numerous television shows for children of all ages, more time is spent inside, watching these shows
than outside running around playing tag or

Chlorine is the single largest contributor to safe drinking water, in the history of public health.
(J.Salzman, 2012). In 1902 the first chlorine disinfection system was installed in Belgium. By the
1920 s nearly the whole world started using the process (HealthLinkBC, 2014). Due to this

The filtration of drinking water plus the use of chlorine is probably the most significant public

The, The Voice Of God
Prophets proclaimed the voice of God, provided spiritual perspectives on occurring events,
predicted events that will occur in the future, and acted as a guide for Israel. They were seen as a
channel in which God could communicate his messages through. Prophets are seen in the second
portion of the Hebrew bible, but we may also find similarities to more recent influential people that
have recently lived among us; one such individual is Harvey Milk. Foremost, How prophets are
stem from times of difficulty are explored; first in the case with Israel s elites and the poor, then
as a response to the pressures gays men and women are faced with in America. Thereafter, the
comparison is made between how biblical prophets used public displays and how public
displays were used in an entirely different context to promote gay rights in San Francisco. Lastly,
we see how shocking language was used first to turn the heads of people in Israel hundreds of years
ago; as well how it was used in speeches carried out on the streets of San Fransisco, more recently.
Biblical Prophecies emerge from times of difficulty. During the 8th century, Israel who had once
saw a developing nation, now faced a declining economy. Wealth was focused on the elite class
and the social gap was growing at an increasing rate (Miller Hayes, 1986). The prophets speak of
the people as being guilty of breaching a contract with god and the deteriorating economy was a
punishment for this. The hope of forgiveness and

Effects Of Stress In Nursing
Workplace stress is investable. Job pressures, deadlines, difficult boss, case over loads, difficult
colleagues and difficult customers can be a source of stress to many workers. The nursing
profession is also filled with elements that can lead to extreme stress and often times these stress
can lead to health hazards and risks. In this paper, the source of stressin the nursing profession will
be evaluated,
What is stress?
To understand the source of stress in the nursing profession, it is important to know the meaning
and nature of stress. According to Tummers (2010) Stress is the feeling people have when they
are under pressure. Stress can also mean the response of the body to pressure or stressors. The
body response to stress is always multi systematic which means that several bodily functions are
involved from metabolism to memory (Gibbons, 2012). Stress affects memory so people become
forgetful. Forgetfulness is a very dangerous consequence of stress in the Nursing profession. If
Nurses forget the amount of dosage to be given to a patient, the result could be fatal.
Stress is not always a bad thing. Stress can improve motivation while low stress job can
decreased motivation. When a job is low stress, employees get bored. Most employees fight
boredom by going to movies or walking in the park. When staffs such as nurses get bored, their
motivation to work is lessened hence their performance level goes down. When, the job is stressful,
workers become highly motivated

Discussing The First World War
When discussing the First World War, there are a myriad of topics, theories and debates that can
be brought up, especially when its regarding to its breakout and and what lead to it. There are
multiple direct and indirect causes that all are interconnected with one another, making it very
difficult to just discuss about one topic without it overlapping with another completely different
topic. One of the most unquestionable causes that lead to the outbreak of the war was the
alliance system that was active in the early twentieth century and that was however set into
motion well before in the mid nineteenth century. The alliance system can be viewed as major
causes from two main different perspectives; it can be considered as a immediate cause or as a
indirect background cause. However, the existence of the alliances is crucial to the bringing
about of the first world war from both perspectives The existence of the multiple alliances and
treaties is considered as a major immediate and direct cause to the bringing about of the First
World War because it turned a conflict between two countries that could ve been easily contained
into a full scale world war that involved multiple countries. To fully understand how and why this
series of chain events were set into motion, one must know and comprehend all the past alliances,
treaties and accords that were created in the past and that in time would bring to the two major
European alliances, the Triple Entente and the Triple

Climate Change Reflection
After watching the move How To Let Go and Love All The Things Climate Can t Change, my
perception of our world completely changed. With the overwhelming facts to the heartfelt stories
Josh Fox exposes viewers to the damage that is yet to come. This movie was so effective as
opposed to other climate documentaries because Fox explains the human aspects of climatechange.
Traveling to twelve countries on six continents he explains how ocean warming, sea level rise, and
air quality are already negatively affecting people in their everyday lives. People don t connect
with facts, people connect with people. This is something I am realizing is critical in getting others
on board with sustainability initiatives and to re think the role we play as consumers. After
graduating I wantto work as a sustainability director for a large company. At the start of my
sustainability journey I am discovering that the most essential part of a sustainability director s
job is to be personable. People will be more likely to implement change when they realize how it
benefits or affects them and their organization. Without effective communication, projects will
never be funded, ideas will not be considered, and it is less likely that your impact will be as
substantial as it could. As a sustainability advocate, it will be my job to promote and implement
initiatives that will help us now, but also generations to come will feel those effects. Josh Fox
shows it is the grassroot groups and people stepping up to protect our planet because they know
it is necessary. I have developed the mindset, if not me than who? Out of all ten of the things that
climate can t change, I believe that the most important one is resilience. As sustainability
professionals, it is a fact of life that you will be told no. But the key is moving on from that. You
can not get yourself worked up just because things didn t play out how we want. We can also not
let getting told no beat us down, not everyone understands or wants to understand the
environmental catastrophes that are upon us. With this in mind, we should use getting told no to
drive us forward and work even harder on the next project we have. Resilience stood out to me in
the movie when the Samoa tribe

Halloween is the one night a year children or teenagers can dress up and act differently. They
wear costumes and get to be a different person or thing for the night. Even though prom is not
celebrated on the same date every year, it is still one night of dressing up. Teenagers get to dress
up formally and also act differently for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has
a certain theme that calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about
dressing up, but, the attire is different for both events. The second point of comparison is that
both are a night of social events. Depending on how each family celebrates Halloween it can be a
night for families to go out together and trick or treat together, or the children can go out with a
group of friends to go trick or treating. Many costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and
there are many haunted houses to go through with friends or family. Prom night is an important
social dance event where teenagers in high school get together with their friends before and after
prom. Both boys and girls might get together before prom to get ready together and then take
pictures with friends and family. Before attending the dance they go out to dinner with their friends
and take a limo to the prom venue. Many parties are held after the prom to continue the night s
celebrations.

Essay On Harry Houdini
Currently, some people are curious about how Harry Houdini passed away. Was his death natural,
or did someone want him dead? One possibility of Harry Houdini s death is that he simply got
punched in the stomach. Eric Jill from Snopes writes,
Houdini was fond of explaining to his fans that by tightening his abdominal muscles he could
withstand the hardest punches to the midsection a man could deliver, and one day a college student
[punched Harry.] The stomach punches caught Houdini by surprise before he had time to prepare
himself, however, resulting in a trauma that ruptured his appendix and ultimately caused his death a
few weeks later (Jill 1).
According to Snopes, the article states that Houdini was a accident prone person and often
refused medical assistance. Before being punched, Harry had a broken ankle and did not get
hospitalized. After getting punched, he soon had a fever and severe stomach pains. Soon, it was
apparent Harry was not well and he later got rushed to the hospital. The surgeons found Harry
had a ruptured appendix and suffering from periodontitis (A disease caused by a ruptured
appendix). Sadly, by the time they removed the appendix it was too late and Harry passed away at
October 31, 1926, the day of Halloween. Is his death date coincidental?
However this popular claim seems to be a stretch. Jill states, Reported cases ... of appendicitis

A nurse in an institution could use Bevis when implementing the interventions, for example in the
first intervention, helping the resident identify cutlery, show them how to use it, this demonstrates
teaching. (McMahon, 2009). The second intervention is changing the colour of the plates, this
uses problem solving because when the resident is getting distracted then the implementation of
colours can draw attention to the food. (McMahon, 2009). Lastly the third intervention about
trying to talk to the resident s when they walk away from a meal uses the Bevis nursing tool,
communication. Communicating to the resident helps bring attention to back to the meal
(McMahon, 2009). When implementing interventions there are barriers that must be overcome
in order to make them effective. For the first intervention dealing with helping them use cutlery,
a barrier can be time. This can be an issue because care providers may not want to spend the time
to properly teach the resident and want to do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that
the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley, 2015). The second intervention about the
coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it is easier and more affordable for an
institution to only have one colour plates, then having special plates for residents with vascular
dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family bring in coloured plates if
they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly, having a nurse sit with a
resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their wandering could be a
challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health care professionals
give their complete attention to only one resident. A way to over come this could be to sit a couple
of residents

Difference Between The Appellate Process And Trial Process
1. The appellate process and appeals differs from the trial process and trials in the following ways:
Trial court is the first court where case is tried. (pg. 353 359)
Appellate court is an appeals court and reviews the verdict of the trial court.
Evidence and witnesses are presented before trial court while appellate court reviews the decision
made by trial court and checks to see that there is a point of fact or point of law in the appeal.
In trail court, there is only one judge in the courtroom. In the appellate court, there are usually five
groups of three judges to decide the case.
Finding facts and evidence is the task of trial court while appellate court decides the case on
already collected evidences and witnesses.
Appellate court can accept, amend, or reject the decision of trial court. (pgs. 437 441)
2. There are three types of errors, the plain error, the harmless error, and the reversible error. The
plain error is the most serious and rarest, it is a substantial error that results in an unfair trial and
jeopardizes the integrity of the judicial system. A reversible error is an error that was found to
have happened at the trial level by the judge, the jury or an attorney, the decision of the court is
negated and sent back to the trial court for a new trial. A harmless error is an error that is not
serious enough to change the outcome of the trial and therefore the lower ruling stands. (pg. 444)
3. Mandatory appellate review is for all cases that

A New Alliance For A Future North American Union
The three relatively unpopular governments presently enthroned in Washington, Ottawa and
Mexico City, joined in very large companies, most of them American, to establish the foundation for
a future North American Union. This is a new alliance of permanent type within which the
Americans have a de facto predominant influence. It would force Canada and Mexicoto harmonize
many laws and regulations in the interests of the world of Big Business and those of US
administrations primarily concerned with their imperial ambitions and undemocratic worldwide. It
is obvious that such a continental thrust integration plan, both economically and politically, is
substantially different from the original idea of fair and free trade in goods and services, through
the abolition tariff and non tariff barriers between the countries of the hemisphere. This idea first
took shape with the free trade agreement of 1988 between Canada and the United States.
Subsequently, in 1994, Canada had to accept that Mexico is joining the North American Free Trade
Agreement, also forcing him to make substantial concessions on the application of the Investment
Canada Act, which governs foreign takeovers of Canadian companies, in addition to ensuring the
US privileged access to Canadian energy resources. All this should have been enough to open the
US market to Canadian companies. It seems, however, that this is not the case. Large corporations
and the US government want to use the pretext of fighting terrorism

Cedar Point Essay
Cedar Point Cedar Point is an amusement park visited by millions of people each year. I ve been
to Cedar Point a few times in my life and I always had so much fun there. What I never realized
though, was how long ago it opened. I also thought that Cedar Point had always been just an
amusement park. Soon I found out that I was wrong on both counts! I learned that there is a lot
more history of Cedar Point, the roller coastercapital of the world, than I thought. Before Cedar
Point became the number one rated amusement parkin the world, it was used mainly for hunting
and fishing. Later, a bathhouse, a dance floor, a small beer garden, and the Grand Pavilion was
added (Koehl). After that, it didn t take long for Cedar Point s very first roller coaster to be
added! And so, the history of thrill rides for Cedar Point had begun (Park History). Throughout
the years, Cedar Point has undergone many changes. In the Boeckling Era, George A. Boeckling
expanded the park drastically from 1897 all the way until 1931 when he passed away. Boeckling
opened hotels, added more rollercoasters, many different rides, a skating rink, a Coliseum,
fortunetellers, and many other attractions. After Boeckling passed away, it wasn t until the late 50 s

International Governmental Organizations And Organizations
Introduction Other names for intergovernmental companies are international governmental
organizations or intergovernmental organizations. These are organizations that are primarily made
up of the sovereign state that are termed as member states. They may also be made up other
intergovernmental organizations. Intergovernmental companies/intergovernmental organizations
are usually referred to as international organizations; however, the definition may also cover
international non governmental organizations (Taninchev, 2015). Some examples of international
non governmental organizations are multinational corporations and international non profit
organizations. When it comes to public international law, intergovernmental companies turn out to
be an important aspect. These organizations are created by treaty. The treaty acts as a charter that
makes up the group. During the formation of treaties, governments of many states (lawful
representatives) undergo the process of ramification. This process of ramification gives the
intergovernmental companies an international legal personality. In a legal sense, intergovernmental
companies need to be distinguished from simple coalition or grouping of states, such as the Quartet
or G8. Simple coalitions or grouping have not been created by a constituent document. They are
only present as task groups. There is also a big difference between intergovernmental organizations
and treaties. A number of treaties that are usually made do not create

When it comes to using positive guidance strategies with young children, I find that discipline,
guidance, and punishment are all teaching or learning skills necessary to be a productive

The Opening Night In The Theater Play Analysis
As the lights dim in the theatre, I know that my husband is in for an interesting experience, as he

The darker, sultry side of life in the 1920s Chicago comes alive through edgy dancing, strong

Modern Dance History
The history of modern dance dates back as early as the 19th century when Isadora Duncan, began
her career as a performer and choreographer, leading her to evolve into one of the world s most
renown and innovative modern dance influences of the time. A rich history followed with the birth
of other significant and revolutionary individuals such as Martha Graham in 1894 (Terry, 2017)
and George Balanchine in 1904 (Walker, 2017). These pioneers of dance, introduced the world to a
new style of choreography, originally derived from and based upon romantic classical ballet. The
Oxford Dictionary (1989) defines modern danceas a free expressive style of dancing that
developed in the early 20th century as a reaction to classical ballet. Classical ballet has a rigid
style, it requires supreme discipline and structured movement. Modern dance was established as an
alternative way to perform, where dancers were not restricted by costume or movement and used
this freedom to push visual boundaries. Many people criticised the choreography and reviewers in
the 1930 s 1940 s wrote of how it was unsavoury and distasteful (Gilbert, 1999), although, eventually
becoming a worldwide phenomenon. It can be argued that Balanchine, Graham and Duncan were
inevitably the three most significant dance figures in the development of modern dance
choreography from foundations built by romantic classical ballet.
A variety of expert sources highlight that there has been a clear development of modern dance

How and where to find academic resources online
Usually where to look is sometimes just as important as how to look for information on the web.
If you find a good search engine once it does not mean it will always be the best engine to use.
Sometimes you need to check many different types of search engines. Like everything on the
World Wide Web search engines come in many different shapes, sizes and styles. Some are real,
poorly developed and some just want to find a way to throw spam at you and hope that you spend
money on their, ever so useless product. Let us start with real search engines and the different
types, such as directories, library directories, library catalogs, spider search engines, super
searchers, and alternatives to search engines.
Directories are topical lists of resources. These are usually compiled information on various
topics, usually by a set of individuals who manage the site. Depending on the management s
standards, the quality of these as in any engine can vary (Ackermann, 2005). A definite positive
to using a directory is that they usually carry less resources of higher quality, thus lessening the
haystack, in order to find the proverbial needle. Search engines, are directories, but most often;
these are very large if they are run with a program considered a spider or robot. Spider or robot
programs gather document links and load them into their databases, using them for your

The notorious Parchman plantation existed until 1972.
During the post Civil War period, Jim Crow racial segregation laws were imposed on every state,
with legal segregation in schools, housing, marriages and many other aspects of daily life. Today, a
new set of markedly racist laws is imposing slave labor and sweatshops on the criminal justice
system, now known as the prison industry complex, comments the Left Business Observer.
Who is investing? At least 37 states have legalized the contracting of prison labor by private
corporations that mount their operations inside state prisons. The list of such companies contains
the cream of U.S. corporate society: IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, AT T, Wireless, Texas

Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA, Nordstrom s, Revlon, Macy s, Pierre Cardin, Target Stores, and

state penitentiaries generally receive the minimum wage for their work, but not all; in Colorado,
they get about $2 per hour, well under the minimum. And in privately run prisons, they receive as
little as 17 cents per hour for a maximum of six hours a day, the equivalent of $20 per month.

Attitudes not only effects job satisfaction and performance but also the relationship with
customers. Managers and employees should never express negativity around customers at any
given time this type of attitude can cause loss of sales. We tend to perform better when we can
recognize and deal with emotions in ourselves and others. When our emotional intelligence level
is high we are able to cope with all attitudes and behaviors at any given time. Success comes
easier if I shall say when we possess and can identify the four key competencies in being a leader.
The four competencies are self awareness, social awareness, self management, and relationship
management. Managers must be in a good mood even when they are not wanting to. The intense
emotions positive or negative reaction from the manager or employee can cause a certain behavior

Three leadership practices that Trader Joe s can implement to increase a competitive edge of the

how the customers, employees, and leaders should be treated and how goals shall be reached

The Minerals and Chemicals within Glass
Majority of glass used in our daily glass from jars, bottles, drinking glass and even windows are
called soda lime glass since it uses soda ashes in its production. Glass in general is mainly made
out of sand. In fact, sand alone can be fused to produce glass but it requires a high temperature
which is estimated about 1700В°C for the sand to completely melt. However, to mass produce glass
, other chemical and mineral are added to lower the melting temperature to ease the production.
Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as soda ash is mixed with sand to produce a product of
75% silica (SiO2) and 25% sodium oxide (Na2O). This mixture will melt and fuse at a much
lower temperature of 800В°C. Unfortunately, the glass produced with this composition is water
soluble which is also known as water glass. This is not suitable for glass bottle since it need to
contain water so, to stabilise the glass, other chemical substance is mixed into the composition
such as calcium oxide (CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The chemical mixtures are obtained by
the addition of lime stone which produce a pure and inert glass.
The glass produced is originally colourless and transparent. Addition of different chemicals into
the production of the glass results in different colour like green blue or brown. Most of glass bottle
produced have similar composition of chemicals as their ingredients. The composition of chemicals
are 70% 74% SiO2 (silica) 12% 16% Na2O (sodium oxide) 5% 11% CaO (calcium oxide)

The Importance Of Electricity In Canada
Electricity has been here since the early 1900 s. When it started, there wasn t much demand for it
due to the fact that most people didn t have it in their houses, and that the only use for it was for
light bulbs. Then came heaters, stoves, followed by electric appliances and everything else that is
powered by electricity. Today the demand is so strong for electricity that have to find other ways
how to produce it. Currently Canada is the number one producer of electricity in the world. The
United States have to buy energy from Canada, because the demand is too strong. Our use of
electricity is causing problems to our planet so now is the perfect time to produce more solar panels.
Solar energy begins with the sun. Solar panels, also known as photovoltaics, are used to convert
light from the sun, which is composed of particles of energy called photons , into electricity that
can be used to power electrical loads. Light from the sun is a renewable energy resource that

I agree with the decision of Tinker because the protest did not interrupt the teachings of the
school. The the majority opinion agrees that if the students First Amendment does not interrupt
the teachings of the school, it s okay. The dissenting opinion by Hugo Black says The truth is
that a teacher of kindergarten, grammar school , or high school pupils no more carries into a
school with him a complete right to freedom of speech and expression that an anti Catholic or
anti Semite carries with him a complete freedom of speech and religion into a Catholic church
or Jewish synagogue . This argument doesn t work because both a place of religion and school
have different purposes. An anti Catholic would interpret the teachings of a Catholic church.
While all that Tinker did was wear a black armband that caused no disturbance in the teachings of
the school. The ruling for Bethel v. Fraser is correct because Frasers use of sexual innuendo was
to a crowd who was unaware. The court ruled, saying A high school assembly or classroom is no
place for a sexually explicit monologue directed towards an unsuspecting audience of teenage
students . I agree with the decision since the audience were not aware of what was going to

in; however, a company that is at the number 6 spot, but that has been growing consistently for
the last ten years may be a more worthwhile investment. Do Research Into The Shares You Are
Going To Buy You have to do more than examine their share price for the last few years to see if
they are at a peak or trough. How is their company doing? Are they taking out big loans? Are
mergers on the horizon? Have they lost a lot of customers recently? Are they sponsoring more
charities than they used to? The Shares Are Good Compared To What? The company you are

Augustine s Growth In The Confessions
Throughout The Confessions, Augustine experiences growth in all facets of life, especially in his
ability to focus on his spirituality, to prioritize his relationships, and to satisfy his intellectual
hunger. This development allows him to improve the way that he grieves the loss of significant
family members. In his autobiography, Augustine shows clear signs of growth in the way that he
handles death and grief. This is evident by the way Augustine explains his struggle with the death
of his father, special friend, mother, and son. Augustine s grief remains selfish, immature, and
excessive during his adolescence, however, develops to become healthy and controlled as a result
of his relationship with God. It is not Augustine s age which leads... Show more content on

His blurred vision of what is important in life caused his grieving to be excessive and selfish.
Augustine expresses the burden of his mourning by saying, Feverishly I trashed about, sighed,
wept, and was troubled, and there was no response for me, nor any counsel. Within me I was
carrying a tattered, bleeding soul that did not want me to carry it, yet I could find no place to
put it down (64). In this passage, Augustine selfishly mourns, focusing on his personal pain. He
expresses how he was hurt because his friend was snatched He uses strong diction such as
feverishly, wept, troubled, and tattered, bleeding soul that evoke emotion in the reader s mind.
This intense word choice allows the reader to visualize Augustine s pain and suffering. Each
word carries purpose and reiterates the idea that Augustine was consumed by his sorrow while
conveying a hopeless tone. Augustine also expresses the intensity of his struggle by stating,
Black grief closed over my heart and wherever I went I only saw death (62). Because Augustine
was so incapable of continuing his life due to severe grief, he had no option but to reevaluate his
life to determine where he went wrong. This struggle with grief was a critical turning point which
helped him realize that his inappropriate love for things in this world were the reason for his
depression and

Eyes Wide Open By Richard Powers
Eyes Wide Open by Richard Powers discusses ways of education in the past one thousand years
and strives to find the necessary things needed to improve it in the next thousand years. Three
assertions he closed the piece with are asking not how things ought to be but how things are,
finding out not what we should do with the world, but what we can make the world do, and the next
thousand years must make up the difference, returning subtlety and richness and morals and
lightness of spirit to the long human experiment, if any part of it is to survive. Plato, Pierce,
Whitehead, Bloom and many others have commented on this idea of how knowledgeand education
were and/or how it should continue to be. In my opinion, the idea of science behind everything is
necessary and most likely enough to lead us toward the best form of education for the next
millennium. The importance of looking at the world of how things are, not how things ought to be,
is an controversial part of taking the step toward the ideal future of education that I and many
writers would agree with. ...if the time required for readjustment was not short wouldn t he provoke
ridicule? Wouldn t it be said of him that he had returned form his upward journey with his eyes
ruined, and that it is not worthwhile even to try to travel upward? (Plato 2). By asking these
obvious questions throughout The Allegory of the Cave, Plato shows that the ideal situation is not
always the outcome. In this case, after the

Felipe Guaman De Ayala s Drawings and the Wider Purpose...
Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala was an ethnic Andean, deeply inspired by the injustice of the
colonial regime, he wrote a massive manuscript in 1615 about the history of the Inca Empire to
the King of Spain. His masterpiece includes 1,200 pages, of which 398 were images full of
details, that are clearly considered by the artist to be the most direct and effective way of
communicating his ideas to the audience. Felipe de Ayala focused on the conflicts between the
settlers and the natives to reveal, in his powerful drawings, his wider purpose of a desire for a
colonial reformation that will bring stability and justice to the Andean people. Two major reasons
that motivated Ayala to write the manuscript are broadly seen in his drawings: the first... Show more

This incident was a major motivation for Guaman Poma to write the manuscript and change his
believes in the Church, because he felt no support from the colonial regime. Before being
convicted, Guaman Poma was serving and protecting the Church as an interpreter of a visitador
or inspector named Cristobal de Albornoz. He helped to identify and capture practitioners of
native religion during the first campaigns to stop idolatry. He gives proof of this fact, by picturing
Albornoz supervising the punishment of a native Andean (Figure 1). The Andean has an image, of
himself playing with the devil, on top of his head, which represents idolization. He shows his fear
towards the Spaniards by being in a state of shock and crying as if he is innocent. The other
Andean that is getting instructions from the priest is a member of the inspection team. He seems
very determined and supportive of the Church and feels no sorrow for punishing the native.
Guaman Poma approved the fight against idolatry because in his drawings, the Andean inspectors
always fight against their own tradition and religion by protecting the Church. Another important
issue that Guaman Poma supported is evangelization of the Andean people. His vivid drawings
and issues suggest that he pressed on the need of evangelization (Figure 2). For example in this
figure, an Andean woman is terrified by these animals and forced to become a Christian. Her fear is

Contribution And Influence Of Voltaire
The age of enlightenment and the influence it has played in the development of society is one of
many layers. There have been many influential people who have directly contributed to the
progression of our literatures and societal norms. One of the more outspoken and notable
philosophers was French born Francois Marie Arouet also known by his pen name of Voltaire
. He
was born in Paris in 1694 into to wealth. His father was a well known lawyer and dignitary who
had great notoriety and influence amongst the people he came in contact with. Voltaire made the
decision early on that he was going to be a writer and use it as his platform to speak on the issues
that he felt were not being correctly acknowledged. Volitaire s father wanted... Show more content

He attacked the use of the military, as well as the reason of war in relation to religion. He
believed that the world was designed by a higher power and if we all believed just that one
detail, that religion would be better managed and cause less conflict in the world. He is an
established writer, poet and advocate. He used satirical jabs to poke fun at the establishment
and corrupt government as he referred to them. He was a respected scholar who had an
immense knowledge and formal training. In the 18th century his way of teaching was not the
norm, he was ahead of his time when it came to his ability to grasp the concepts of socialism and
use them to be able to teach injustice and religion being used as a weapon to control the people.
Voltaire s goal was to get people to acknowledge and overcome the belief that God is all
knowing; he wanted them to focus and realize what is actually going on in the world around
them. He did not like the tradition of rationalism and hoped for people to empower themselves.
During the enlightenment era, many people were opposed to being different, to standing out.
Voltaire, on the other hand did not care. His main focus was the people, and making known the
truth of things. He fought for civil rights; for the freedom of speech, as well as the right to a free
trial. No matter how much Voltaire did not agree with what you were saying, he did not correct
you or try to tell you that you were wrong because he

Naval Athens and the Rise of Athenian Democracy Essay
There is no coincidence that the rise of Athenian Democracy goes chronologically hand in hand
with the rise of the Athenian Navy. Following the defeat of the Persians by the Greeks, Athens
naval successes allow it to surpass the previous naval power of Corinth; create the Delian league to
fund and support this navy; and eventually ruffle enough feathers with their fellow Hellenic
neighbours that they inspire the Peloponnesian war. Overall their naval reputation and intimidation
comes from the skill of the men who maneuver and command the ships, and the tool they use to
wield their power, the Athenian trireme. By looking at the design of the trireme, and the work and
numbers put both into the ship and the men that drive it, hopefully... Show more content on

TRIREMES AND SHIPBUILDING
Triremes were unfortunately had to make stops on shore nightly whenever possible, because
they ship needed to dry out and the crew would be given time to rest and eat without being
confined to the smaller space available in the trireme (Jordan 1975). This was not always the
case though; there is a recalling of a time when a trireme did have to sail through the night, when
one ship had to catch up to the trireme headed to Mytilene (Jordan 1975). This type of travel was
possible with a trireme, but it would sail slightly slower since men had to take turns rowing, eating
barley cakes and wine (Thucydides 1996)(3.49.4), and sleeping, since they had not enough room
for everyone to take a break at once. Another example is when they couldn t anchor at Pylos, men
took their meals on shore in their turn (4.26.3)(Thucydides 1996). This would not have done any
harsh damage to the ship in small amounts, but if it were to travel this way consistently there would
be definite problems with ship maintenance.
To actually build a trireme, it consisted of a number of different types of resources and uniquely
skilled laborers. The ship was built shell first , meaning the side planks were constructed before
laying in the backbone , keel,

Descriptive Essay About Ethnicity
Big Bird As I child, unfortunately, I was bullied at a very young age. The school was tough for
me because I felt different. I have always felt different because of my ethnicity. I felt that being
bullied for my looks, my clothes, and my Mexican name, made me not love myself and my

  • 2. The American Revolution Research Paper The American Revolution The American Revolution was a political separation between Britain and the original Thirteen Colonies. It occurred between the years 1765 and 1783, resulting in a lot of bloodshed and casualties. With tension building between the two powers, the revolution was a battle that formed what America is today. The Boston Tea Party , the Boston Massacre, and the many taxes imposed are factors to what lead the colonists to form together and fight Britain. The reason why America won against its former owner is because of the alliance with France, the knowledge of the terrain, and the determination that the soldiers had. The colonies were furious and tense, boycotts and riots filled the streets in the year of 1765. The new act, which put ridiculous amounts of taxes on common household necessities such as tea, left the colonists broke and turning the cold shoulder to Great Britain. The years progressively got worse, seen on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the colonists rebelled against Parliament s decisions of passing new laws, they were angered by the creation of the Tea Act, and rebelled by dumping 18,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor, which was known as the Boston Tea Party. The colonists were determined to get their independance from Great Britain, so after the battles of Lexington and Concord, the Second Continental Congress met to decide what was to be done next. For example, Americans had a grand cause: fighting for their rights, their independence and their liberty (American and British Strengths and Weaknesses). This shows that the colonists were not just fighting to win, they were fighting for their freedom, their rights, and their independance from Great Britain. Most of the American military were civilians that were fighting because they wanted freedom and they were determined to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Similarities Between Marionettes Inc. And Dark They Were... Ray Bradbury is an exceptionally great writer, who has written countless stories including The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451 . Bradbury was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1920 and at age 14 moved to Los Angeles. In 1937 he joined a SciFi league and had his first book published at the age of 18. He often writes about nostalgia for childhood, social criticism, and the hazards of runaway technology. These are ideas the Bradbury believes in and feels strongly about. This is shown in two of his short stories, Marionettes, Inc. and Dark They Were and Golden Eyed . These stories characterize protagonists in similar ways and antagonists in different ways, differently structures the plot and uses setting differently. The characterization... Also, Bittering is resistant to the idea change as he starts to think things are changing he builds a rocket to return to a nuclear devastated planet. This is also an example of indirect characterization where Bradbury uses actions to describe characters. What these characters show is that to describe Bradbury s preferred way to describe protagonists is through indirect characterization. Bradbury describes his antagonists is differently. • 5. Settlers Vs. New England Colonies Facing the New World Entering a new territory filled with countless opportunities and possibilities came with prices to pay and times of hardships for the pioneers from England. They quickly came to realize that the grass was not always greener on the other side. They settled in different areas along the east coast, such as New England, which included New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The other settlers came ashore just south of New England called the Chesapeake region, which included Virginia and Maryland. Since Virginia was a predominantly agricultural region, the social gap between wealthy and poor was exponential. In Virginia, there were the wealthy farmers and the poor slaves. There were very few middle class citizens. The main source of income for the Chesapeake region was trade and distribution of tobacco. Still lacking a substantial amount of females, the colony did not expand as fast as it potentially could have. New England lacked a significant social gap. Mostly everyone was middle class with the exception of a very few. While New England was able to have some type of agriculture, they relied mostly on industries such as shoemakers and blacksmiths and trade. Factors such as population and resources allowed them to develop rapidly. This lead to large cities for this era and a healthy economy. Ecological differences forced different economical strategies for the two groups of settlers to pursue. However, the differences in them opened up a way of trade. Expectancy and Role Conflicts Illustrated in Everybody Loves Raymond Learning to communicate efficiently and manage conflict successfully is challenging. Gaining cooperation between people is complex and mentally demanding. Communication ways and conflict styles are deeply woven into our personalities. Conflict is the expressed struggle of interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, interference from the other party in achieving those goals, and the perception of scarce resources. Perceptions are just as important as reality in regards to conflict. As stated in the text, we encounter conflict as we compete for acceptance, love, recognition, position, power, success, and many other goals. Judgments of the quality of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conflict here is that Robert s goals were to experience the freedom from his parents and not Amy. If either had used perception checking, it is possible that their conflict would have ended. The Attribution Theory is based upon assigning meanings for another s behavior. What we think to be true is not always accurate. It is necessary to implement proactive strategies such as perception checking. Perception checking involves three components. They are as stated: 1.A complete description of behavior observed 2.Provide two possible interpretations of the observed behavior 3.Request for clarity In either case, both Robert and Amy entered the termination stage together. As stated earlier and expressed here, conflict usually occurs because of incompatible goals. Incompatible goals are often perceived in dialectical tensions of relationships. Leslie Baxter formulated the Relationship Dialectical Theory. Usually it is opposing tensions that bring people into conflicts in relationships. The number one cause for break ups is the relational dialectic, integration/separation. The two opposing forces at war are the desire to bond (Amy) and the desire for autonomy (Robert). Dr. McKinney illustrates these tensions as a contradiction; the idea of conflict between desires in a relationship. Mediation is a wonderful process in negotiating a solution between two parties thwarted by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the amount of gas present in this area group velocity decreases and the Zenith angle contributes to the troposphere refraction. The lower the zenith angle the more affected is the tropospheric refraction. Ionosphere and Troposphere has an influence on pseudo range and Carrier phase measurement because of electrons present in this region that obstruct the signal waves from the rover to the satellite, (Parker, 2003). With TV shows, movies, clothing lines, toys, CDs, books, and theme parks, Disney is creating billions in revenue. However, the profits are at the cost of the youth. One way the youth are being harmed is children are absorbed in watching television shows that Disney plays daily. The amount of time spent watching television has increased in the years, while the amount of time spent playing games outside has decreased. Because of this, health issues in children have risen, especially in the United States. Also, children begin to idolize the child actors from the shows on Disney such as Miley Cyrusin Hannah Montana. Although some actresses are good role models, most usually are not. Child actors are more likely to develop drug addictions, alcohol addictions, and eating disorders than an average teenager. Not only are the child actors harmed from being put into a crazy lifestyle, the children who idolize these actors are harmed as well. Therefore, Disney s influence on the youth is harmful and should be limited. Obesity and other health issues are become a problem for the youth in America. While poor diets contribute greatly to the problem, there are other factors as well, for instance, lack of exercise or physical activity. Foremost, How prophets are stem from times of difficulty are explored; first in the case with Israel s elites and the poor, then as a response to the pressures gays men and women are faced with in America. Thereafter, the comparison is made between how biblical prophets used public displays and how public displays were used in an entirely different context to promote gay rights in San Francisco. Lastly, we see how shocking language was used first to turn the heads of people in Israel hundreds of years ago; as well how it was used in speeches carried out on the streets of San Fransisco, more recently. Biblical Prophecies emerge from times of difficulty. During the 8th century, Israel who had once saw a developing nation, now faced a declining economy. According to Tummers (2010) Stress is the feeling people have when they are under pressure. Stress can also mean the response of the body to pressure or stressors. The body response to stress is always multi systematic which means that several bodily functions are involved from metabolism to memory (Gibbons, 2012). Discussing The First World War When discussing the First World War, there are a myriad of topics, theories and debates that can be brought up, especially when its regarding to its breakout and and what lead to it. There are multiple direct and indirect causes that all are interconnected with one another, making it very difficult to just discuss about one topic without it overlapping with another completely different topic. One of the most unquestionable causes that lead to the outbreak of the war was the alliance system that was active in the early twentieth century and that was however set into motion well before in the mid nineteenth century. The alliance system can be viewed as major causes from two main different perspectives; it can be considered as a immediate cause or as a indirect background cause. However, the existence of the alliances is crucial to the bringing about of the first world war from both perspectives The existence of the multiple alliances and treaties is considered as a major immediate and direct cause to the bringing about of the First World War because it turned a conflict between two countries that could ve been easily contained into a full scale world war that involved multiple countries. With the overwhelming facts to the heartfelt stories Josh Fox exposes viewers to the damage that is yet to come. This movie was so effective as opposed to other climate documentaries because Fox explains the human aspects of climatechange. Traveling to twelve countries on six continents he explains how ocean warming, sea level rise, and air quality are already negatively affecting people in their everyday lives. People don t connect with facts, people connect with people. This is something I am realizing is critical in getting others on board with sustainability initiatives and to re think the role we play as consumers. After graduating I wantto work as a sustainability director for a large company. At the start of my sustainability journey I am discovering that the most essential part of a sustainability director s job is to be personable. People will be more likely to implement change when they realize how it benefits or affects them and their organization. Without effective communication, projects will never be funded, ideas will not be considered, and it is less likely that your impact will be as substantial as it could. As a sustainability advocate, it will be my job to promote and implement initiatives that will help us now, but also generations to come will feel those effects. Josh Fox shows it is the grassroot groups and people stepping up to protect our planet because they know it is necessary. I have developed the mindset, if not me than who? Out of all ten of the things that climate can t change, I believe that the most important one is resilience. As sustainability professionals, it is a fact of life that you will be told no. But the key is moving on from that. You can not get yourself worked up just because things didn t play out how we want. We can also not let getting told no beat us down, not everyone understands or wants to understand the environmental catastrophes that are upon us. With this in mind, we should use getting told no to drive us forward and work even harder on the next project we have. Resilience stood out to me in the movie when the Samoa tribe ... Teenagers get to dress up formally and also act differently for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has a certain theme that calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about dressing up, but, the attire is different for both events. The second point of comparison is that both are a night of social events. Depending on how each family celebrates Halloween it can be a night for families to go out together and trick or treat together, or the children can go out with a group of friends to go trick or treating. Many costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and there are many haunted houses to go through with friends or family. Prom night is an important social dance event where teenagers in high school get together with their friends before and after prom. Both boys and girls might get together before prom to get ready together and then take pictures with friends and family. Before attending the dance they go out to dinner with their friends and take a limo to the prom venue. Many parties are held after the prom to continue the night s celebrations. ... • 19. Essay On Harry Houdini Currently, some people are curious about how Harry Houdini passed away. Was his death natural, or did someone want him dead? One possibility of Harry Houdini s death is that he simply got punched in the stomach. Eric Jill from Snopes writes, Houdini was fond of explaining to his fans that by tightening his abdominal muscles he could withstand the hardest punches to the midsection a man could deliver, and one day a college student [punched Harry.] The stomach punches caught Houdini by surprise before he had time to prepare himself, however, resulting in a trauma that ruptured his appendix and ultimately caused his death a few weeks later (Jill 1). According to Snopes, the article states that Houdini was a accident prone person and often refused medical assistance. Before being punched, Harry had a broken ankle and did not get hospitalized. After getting punched, he soon had a fever and severe stomach pains. Soon, it was apparent Harry was not well and he later got rushed to the hospital. The surgeons found Harry had a ruptured appendix and suffering from periodontitis (A disease caused by a ruptured appendix). Sadly, by the time they removed the appendix it was too late and Harry passed away at October 31, 1926, the day of Halloween. Is his death date coincidental? However this popular claim seems to be a stretch. Jill states, Reported cases ... of appendicitis following blunt abdominal trauma are quite rare, ... In Canada, and across the world, there are institutions that help care for people with these diagnoses. Nurses are one of the members of the health care team, and they help to try and reduce risks that can exist in agingCanadians. The purpose of this paper is to explore the risks of malnutrition in aging Canadians living in institutions who have vascular dementia. Malnutrition and vascular dementia are serious conditions that do not develop overnight, therefore there are signs and symptoms to recognize this risk before it escalates. A nurse in an institution could use Bevis when implementing the interventions, for example in the first intervention, helping the resident identify cutlery, show them how to use it, this demonstrates teaching. (McMahon, 2009). The second intervention is changing the colour of the plates, this uses problem solving because when the resident is getting distracted then the implementation of colours can draw attention to the food. (McMahon, 2009). Lastly the third intervention about trying to talk to the resident s when they walk away from a meal uses the Bevis nursing tool, communication. Communicating to the resident helps bring attention to back to the meal (McMahon, 2009). When implementing interventions there are barriers that must be overcome in order to make them effective. For the first intervention dealing with helping them use cutlery, a barrier can be time. This can be an issue because care providers may not want to spend the time to properly teach the resident and want to do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley, 2015). The second intervention about the coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it is easier and more affordable for an institution to only have one colour plates, then having special plates for residents with vascular dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family bring in coloured plates if they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly, having a nurse sit with a resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their wandering could be a challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health care professionals give their complete attention to only one resident. A way to over come this could be to sit a couple of residents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Difference Between The Appellate Process And Trial Process 1. The appellate process and appeals differs from the trial process and trials in the following ways: Trial court is the first court where case is tried. (pg. 353 359) Appellate court is an appeals court and reviews the verdict of the trial court. Evidence and witnesses are presented before trial court while appellate court reviews the decision made by trial court and checks to see that there is a point of fact or point of law in the appeal. In trail court, there is only one judge in the courtroom. In the appellate court, there are usually five groups of three judges to decide the case. Finding facts and evidence is the task of trial court while appellate court decides the case on already collected evidences and witnesses. Appellate court can accept, amend, or reject the decision of trial court. (pgs. 437 441) 2. There are three types of errors, the plain error, the harmless error, and the reversible error. The plain error is the most serious and rarest, it is a substantial error that results in an unfair trial and jeopardizes the integrity of the judicial system. A reversible error is an error that was found to have happened at the trial level by the judge, the jury or an attorney, the decision of the court is negated and sent back to the trial court for a new trial. A harmless error is an error that is not serious enough to change the outcome of the trial and therefore the lower ruling stands. (pg. 444) 3. Mandatory appellate review is for all cases that ... This is a new alliance of permanent type within which the Americans have a de facto predominant influence. It would force Canada and Mexicoto harmonize many laws and regulations in the interests of the world of Big Business and those of US administrations primarily concerned with their imperial ambitions and undemocratic worldwide. It is obvious that such a continental thrust integration plan, both economically and politically, is substantially different from the original idea of fair and free trade in goods and services, through the abolition tariff and non tariff barriers between the countries of the hemisphere. This idea first took shape with the free trade agreement of 1988 between Canada and the United States. Subsequently, in 1994, Canada had to accept that Mexico is joining the North American Free Trade Agreement, also forcing him to make substantial concessions on the application of the Investment Canada Act, which governs foreign takeovers of Canadian companies, in addition to ensuring the US privileged access to Canadian energy resources. All this should have been enough to open the US market to Canadian companies. It seems, however, that this is not the case. International Governmental Organizations And Organizations Introduction Other names for intergovernmental companies are international governmental organizations or intergovernmental organizations. These are organizations that are primarily made up of the sovereign state that are termed as member states. They may also be made up other intergovernmental organizations. Intergovernmental companies/intergovernmental organizations are usually referred to as international organizations; however, the definition may also cover international non governmental organizations (Taninchev, 2015). Some examples of international non governmental organizations are multinational corporations and international non profit organizations. When it comes to public international law, intergovernmental companies turn out to be an important aspect. These organizations are created by treaty. The treaty acts as a charter that makes up the group. During the formation of treaties, governments of many states (lawful representatives) undergo the process of ramification. This process of ramification gives the intergovernmental companies an international legal personality. In a legal sense, intergovernmental companies need to be distinguished from simple coalition or grouping of states, such as the Quartet or G8. • 29. Modern Dance History The history of modern dance dates back as early as the 19th century when Isadora Duncan, began her career as a performer and choreographer, leading her to evolve into one of the world s most renown and innovative modern dance influences of the time. A rich history followed with the birth of other significant and revolutionary individuals such as Martha Graham in 1894 (Terry, 2017) and George Balanchine in 1904 (Walker, 2017). These pioneers of dance, introduced the world to a new style of choreography, originally derived from and based upon romantic classical ballet. The Oxford Dictionary (1989) defines modern danceas a free expressive style of dancing that developed in the early 20th century as a reaction to classical ballet. Classical ballet has a rigid style, it requires supreme discipline and structured movement. Modern dance was established as an alternative way to perform, where dancers were not restricted by costume or movement and used this freedom to push visual boundaries. Many people criticised the choreography and reviewers in the 1930 s 1940 s wrote of how it was unsavoury and distasteful (Gilbert, 1999), although, eventually becoming a worldwide phenomenon. It can be argued that Balanchine, Graham and Duncan were inevitably the three most significant dance figures in the development of modern dance choreography from foundations built by romantic classical ballet. The Minerals and Chemicals within Glass Majority of glass used in our daily glass from jars, bottles, drinking glass and even windows are called soda lime glass since it uses soda ashes in its production. Glass in general is mainly made out of sand. In fact, sand alone can be fused to produce glass but it requires a high temperature which is estimated about 1700В°C for the sand to completely melt. However, to mass produce glass , other chemical and mineral are added to lower the melting temperature to ease the production. Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as soda ash is mixed with sand to produce a product of 75% silica (SiO2) and 25% sodium oxide (Na2O). This mixture will melt and fuse at a much lower temperature of 800В°C. Unfortunately, the glass produced with this composition is water soluble which is also known as water glass. This is not suitable for glass bottle since it need to contain water so, to stabilise the glass, other chemical substance is mixed into the composition such as calcium oxide (CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The chemical mixtures are obtained by the addition of lime stone which produce a pure and inert glass. The glass produced is originally colourless and transparent. Fraser is correct because Frasers use of sexual innuendo was to a crowd who was unaware. The court ruled, saying A high school assembly or classroom is no place for a sexually explicit monologue directed towards an unsuspecting audience of teenage students . I agree with the decision since the audience were not aware of what was going to happen as. Around 600 14 year olds were present for the speech. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Augustine s Growth In The Confessions Throughout The Confessions, Augustine experiences growth in all facets of life, especially in his ability to focus on his spirituality, to prioritize his relationships, and to satisfy his intellectual hunger. This development allows him to improve the way that he grieves the loss of significant family members. In his autobiography, Augustine shows clear signs of growth in the way that he handles death and grief. This is evident by the way Augustine explains his struggle with the death of his father, special friend, mother, and son. Augustine s grief remains selfish, immature, and excessive during his adolescence, however, develops to become healthy and controlled as a result of his relationship with God. It is not Augustine s age which leads... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His blurred vision of what is important in life caused his grieving to be excessive and selfish. Augustine expresses the burden of his mourning by saying, Feverishly I trashed about, sighed, wept, and was troubled, and there was no response for me, nor any counsel. Within me I was carrying a tattered, bleeding soul that did not want me to carry it, yet I could find no place to put it down (64). In this passage, Augustine selfishly mourns, focusing on his personal pain. He expresses how he was hurt because his friend was snatched He uses strong diction such as feverishly, wept, troubled, and tattered, bleeding soul that evoke emotion in the reader s mind. This intense word choice allows the reader to visualize Augustine s pain and suffering. Each word carries purpose and reiterates the idea that Augustine was consumed by his sorrow while conveying a hopeless tone. Augustine also expresses the intensity of his struggle by stating, Black grief closed over my heart and wherever I went I only saw death (62). Because Augustine was so incapable of continuing his life due to severe grief, he had no option but to reevaluate his life to determine where he went wrong. This struggle with grief was a critical turning point which helped him realize that his inappropriate love for things in this world were the reason for his depression and ... Eyes Wide Open By Richard Powers Eyes Wide Open by Richard Powers discusses ways of education in the past one thousand years and strives to find the necessary things needed to improve it in the next thousand years. Three assertions he closed the piece with are asking not how things ought to be but how things are, finding out not what we should do with the world, but what we can make the world do, and the next thousand years must make up the difference, returning subtlety and richness and morals and lightness of spirit to the long human experiment, if any part of it is to survive. Plato, Pierce, Whitehead, Bloom and many others have commented on this idea of how knowledgeand education were and/or how it should continue to be. In my opinion, the idea of science behind everything is necessary and most likely enough to lead us toward the best form of education for the next millennium. The importance of looking at the world of how things are, not how things ought to be, is an controversial part of taking the step toward the ideal future of education that I and many writers would agree with. ...if the time required for readjustment was not short wouldn t he provoke ridicule? Wouldn t it be said of him that he had returned form his upward journey with his eyes ruined, and that it is not worthwhile even to try to travel upward? (Plato 2). • 43. Felipe Guaman De Ayala s Drawings and the Wider Purpose... Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala was an ethnic Andean, deeply inspired by the injustice of the colonial regime, he wrote a massive manuscript in 1615 about the history of the Inca Empire to the King of Spain. His masterpiece includes 1,200 pages, of which 398 were images full of details, that are clearly considered by the artist to be the most direct and effective way of communicating his ideas to the audience. Felipe de Ayala focused on the conflicts between the settlers and the natives to reveal, in his powerful drawings, his wider purpose of a desire for a colonial reformation that will bring stability and justice to the Andean people. Two major reasons that motivated Ayala to write the manuscript are broadly seen in his drawings: the first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This incident was a major motivation for Guaman Poma to write the manuscript and change his believes in the Church, because he felt no support from the colonial regime. Before being convicted, Guaman Poma was serving and protecting the Church as an interpreter of a visitador or inspector named Cristobal de Albornoz. He helped to identify and capture practitioners of native religion during the first campaigns to stop idolatry. He gives proof of this fact, by picturing Albornoz supervising the punishment of a native Andean (Figure 1). The Andean has an image, of himself playing with the devil, on top of his head, which represents idolization. He shows his fear towards the Spaniards by being in a state of shock and crying as if he is innocent. The other Andean that is getting instructions from the priest is a member of the inspection team. He seems very determined and supportive of the Church and feels no sorrow for punishing the native. Guaman Poma approved the fight against idolatry because in his drawings, the Andean inspectors always fight against their own tradition and religion by protecting the Church. Another important issue that Guaman Poma supported is evangelization of the Andean people. His vivid drawings and issues suggest that he pressed on the need of evangelization (Figure 2). For example in this figure, an Andean woman is terrified by these animals and forced to become a Christian. Her fear is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Voltaire s goal was to get people to acknowledge and overcome the belief that God is all knowing; he wanted them to focus and realize what is actually going on in the world around them. He did not like the tradition of rationalism and hoped for people to empower themselves. During the enlightenment era, many people were opposed to being different, to standing out. Voltaire, on the other hand did not care. His main focus was the people, and making known the truth of things. • 46. Naval Athens and the Rise of Athenian Democracy Essay There is no coincidence that the rise of Athenian Democracy goes chronologically hand in hand with the rise of the Athenian Navy. Following the defeat of the Persians by the Greeks, Athens naval successes allow it to surpass the previous naval power of Corinth; create the Delian league to fund and support this navy; and eventually ruffle enough feathers with their fellow Hellenic neighbours that they inspire the Peloponnesian war. Overall their naval reputation and intimidation comes from the skill of the men who maneuver and command the ships, and the tool they use to wield their power, the Athenian trireme. TRIREMES AND SHIPBUILDING Triremes were unfortunately had to make stops on shore nightly whenever possible, because they ship needed to dry out and the crew would be given time to rest and eat without being confined to the smaller space available in the trireme (Jordan 1975). This was not always the case though; there is a recalling of a time when a trireme did have to sail through the night, when one ship had to catch up to the trireme headed to Mytilene (Jordan 1975). This type of travel was possible with a trireme, but it would sail slightly slower since men had to take turns rowing, eating barley cakes and wine (Thucydides 1996)(3.49.4), and sleeping, since they had not enough room for everyone to take a break at once. Another example is when they couldn t anchor at Pylos, men took their meals on shore in their turn (4.26.3)(Thucydides 1996). This would not have done any harsh damage to the ship in small amounts, but if it were to travel this way consistently there would be definite problems with ship maintenance. To actually build a trireme, it consisted of a number of different types of resources and uniquely skilled laborers.
